Finally some good news for Stephen fans. He has been assigned to two GP events for next season. He's a host pick at 2024 Skate Canada International being held at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, NS, October 25-27. This is the venue where Stephen won his novice national title in 2016. He is also competing at 2024 NHK Trophy in Tokyo, Japan November 8-10. Japanese fans will be thrilled to have him back. Stephen did SCI and NHK in 2022 so this is familiar territory for him now.

I know I'm late to sharing this but I don't think any of us were expecting GP assignments on a Sunday so I was busy with my car but after 5 months of no news this is quite welcome. Also having two assignments right from the start is good for planning. And Stephen will be on the National team as well since he's gotten GP assignments.

For anyone going to SCI you should be aware that there is no gala this time around. I'm not sure what they plan to do on October 27 - I didn't think Stephen would be competing there so I haven't paid attention to this event. Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow.

To that insecure individual who was trying to spread the rumour that Stephen has retired in February when his fans were anxious about his health: I hope you see this and are having a miserable day today.

Following the maths being done on FSU about Grand Prix spots for next season and I’m a bit concerned Hensen/Lickers are going to be screwed despite their awesome showing at Nationals. Ice dance is so competitive right now for spots and Bashynska/Beaumont and Fabbri/Ayer are out of the top 24 in both the World Standings and Seasons Best lists and therefore are not guaranteed a GP spot. If Skate Canada can’t wrangle a spot for either of them elsewhere (definitely possible that they can, but there are also a lot of teams and feds fighting for the same thing) then they’ll probably use their host spots to prioritize them over giving H/L a chance.

this season, Canada had 11 GP spots and sent 7 teams, with the top 3 teams plus L/LeG each getting 2 spots. B/B got a spot for being on the podium at Junior Worlds. Canada ended up being able to have both F/A and L/R at SCI

for 2024-25, the same top 3 teams are eligible for 2 spots each. L/LeG are guaranteed one but probably will get 2. we'll see if G/P and FBS choose to stay in for next season

i think we're going to see 6-7 Canadian teams at the GPs. at Nationals the result was: #3 Fabbri/Ayer #4 Hensen/Lickers #5 Lanaghan/Razgulajevs #6 Bashynska/Beaumont
