You will pick up what my interests are by just scrolling through the blog. This is a general purpose account and anything can happen here. And yes, I will be annoying about new things I get into. I've never unfollowed someone else over a deluge of random blorbo content personally, because I am stronger than those who do. But if you want to do that I won't be mad. Everyone has the right to their preferred experience on here and I'm not going to shame anyone or take it personally.

I have no DNI because that's silly and I am like 20 (what year is it?). I welcome anyone to interact with this blog if you're nice to me. If you suck I will just block you (you gotta suck bad because I need my blocked accounts list for other things). Nor do I discourage people under 18 to interact with or follow me because I'm not horny on main. Sometimes there will be things here that aren't safe for work (in the classical sense of "if my colleagues see me looking at this it's gonna be weird") but those are usually tagged appropriately.

I try my best to tag content warnings but I will probably forget to do new requests. I somewhat consistently tag "transphobia", "transmisogyny", "sa", "antisemitism", "unreality" and "flash warning". The only slur I really filter tag is "r slur". These usually stand alone as tags so if you are filtering for my blog, best filter "#r slur" rather than "#cw r slur". are we dying to know the real story of my url or do we want the oc lore version. bc i can do both.

lore version is that mars (my sona) is part fairy (among other things. that are not relevant rn) and lives in a rlly neato cave system. like full of crystals n shit. and waterfalls. if i could draw backgrounds and/or landscapes id show you whats in my head but unfortunately i am Unable To Do So at this time lol (its something i gotta fuck around with more to get good)

the real story is that we visited this cave called Talking Rocks Cavern on vacation once. it used to be called Fairy Cave (it was mentioned in the pamphlet thingy. i rlly like collecting them). and i made some fuckass comment about liking the old name better and 'what if there were fairies in the cave. hmmm....... cave fairies....' and then when we got home from that trip thats what i ended up changing all my usernames to. bc id needed a new one anyway (old user involved an interest im completely done with, and my old name. i just hadnt figured out what to change it to until that trip). in addition to the whole Fairy Cave thing, i just really like caves. and also am a fairygender'd thing (fai/fairy pronouns yuh)

My name is Dee! It's not the name I went by for most of my years on Tumblr, but it's the one everyone knows me as. You might remember my url as nyriad, visovari... I went by a bunch of others too, but those are the only two I seem to remember now 😅

The last time I was on Tumblr, I was in the middle of a very difficult period of my life that I didn't really have the tools or support to navigate. But sometimes you gotta go a lil wacky and make some fresh new regrets so you can grow up a lil bit wiser and sexier

I quit the internet pretty much cold turkey for a while and it was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I spent a year pretty much focusing on nothing but my immediate surroundings, living in my own skin, learning how to love myself. I've gotten a lot more comfortable being myself, and have grown a lot more connected to the earth.

In my time away, I was diagnosed with ADHD, which even just the diagnosis has significantly improved almost every facet of my life. I've gotten so many new tools and so much new language to express myself and my needs. I've stopped feeling like there is something wrong with me and let go of a lot of shame that I held around myself, my work flow, my ability to focus, my needs for rest, etc. As I've met more people with ADHD, I've grown a lot more empowered and confident. I'm still figuring out what medication works for me (Adderall and Concerta are hell incarnate; Ritalin and Vyvanse are the bee's knees). It's been revolutionary and healing, honestly. Reading the book "Driven to Distraction" was an important first step that I recommend to everyone who's ever thought they might have ADHD, or if you were like me, always felt stupid and slow and always wondered why you never could quite get around to doing all the things you want to do.

I am also currently pursuing a diagnosis for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, as per my doctor's suggestion. I won't get into it too much here, but it is a chronic illness that has made the last year pretty difficult. I have a lot of severe chronic joint pain and lethargy, and it's been... a lot. I'm starting physical therapy soon. This part isn't fun to talk about, but it's becoming an important part of my identity.

I've also met the love of my life, my soon-to-be fiancee, Nathalie! We were inseparable pretty much from the day we met, and spent a year as best friends. And then after that year the sexual tension became too much to handle, and now another year later, here we are, stupidly in love, utterly obsessed with each other, turning every single day into a fun, wacky, new adventure lmao. We've built the most beautiful, trusting, communicative, intimate relationship I've ever experienced and I am so filled with pride and joy and love and happiness every day. We're still best friends -- no force on this earth could ever get us to shut up when we're in the same room. She just fills me with butterflies and glee and light. Nat has this burning desire to create in whatever the most tactile medium she can find is. She loves mechanisms and fibers and all of the ways different materials interact with each other. She inspires me every day to be more open and honest and to pursue whatever creative venture has caught my interest, and I do the same for her. We dance together, create together, and share big emotions and life goals and it's just the most beautiful thing I've ever felt, and this paragraph could go on forever if I don't end it right now

I've also finally started to settle into my writing flow. I've got a space opera that's really beginning to take shape and I'm pretty proud of what it's turning into :) I also have a fantasy saga that's following a few steps behind. Both are things I've been working on for nearly a decade in fits and spurts, but I've done more work on them in the last year than in all previous years combined. I've gotten into more artistic mediums as well: oil painting, photography, beading, and so on. And very into fashion, kind of. Y'all should see my wardrobe these days -- bright colors, crazy patterns, wacky silhouettes. I feel like I finally look like myself. I'm currently rocking a purple mullet and a mustache, so... yeah, I'm having fun with it

I'm not sure how many of my old friends and mutuals are still hanging around, but I wanted to say hey, track a few of you down, and give a little update on how things are going for me post-Tumblr. I am alive, and I'm pretty happy these days. Some days I miss it here, and while I'll never come back in the same capacity as I used to, I wanted to reconnect with some of my old friends that I used to talk to and hang around with every day! I'm gonna poke around over the next while and see who's still around :) honestly I still think about some of y'all on the daily, and I got too curious about how my old friends were doing.

19. What does your URL mean?

I'm not too sure myself. I've taken it as my desire to keep making art and whatever thingamabobs or whatchamacallits that come to mind. I "aspire" to do so many things. I've started resin, painting, drawing, digital art, animation and am thinking on doing crochet and writing fanfiction. So many things, so little time and energy.

For "prototype", it refers to the state I often leave my spontaneous projects in. It's very hard for me to stay focused on one thing, I switch between 2-3 at a time. I frequently leave them incomplete, promising to finish them later only to forget. And when I do finish something, I'm not happy with it, so I put it aside to improve on later. Which I also forget to do.

But if we're talking about why I chose this URL, it all happened one dark, stormy night...

I had asked my friend for suggestions as I always have trouble naming things. First was one with my name, so that was crossed off. Then she put forth "aspiring-prototype". Immediately I went YES.

I still don't know how she came up with that. Can't ask her though, we don't talk anymore.

26. Are you happy with the person you’ve become?

Nope.

No way.

I have much to improve on, and so much more to do. I have issues I struggle to deal with, conditions I struggle to handle.

But I'm getting there.

But I don't think I'll ever be completely happy. I'll be content for a while, but then remember there is always room for more growth, more improvement.

28. What’s your biggest “what if”?

For this question, I do not think about this, for religious reasons.

If something has happened, it has happened for a reason. As a Muslim, I believe in Qadr, or simply destiny, that everything has been preordained by Allah ﷺ. But that doesn't mean you have no control or choice in your life.

I don't look back in that way, I only do so to reminisce in past events. I'm grateful for whatever's happened, and whatever had followed.

35. To you, what is the meaning of life?

This is also be more on the religious side, so feel free to skip.

To me, it is a mix on what I believe in and my own general views.

As both a Muslim and your regular human neighbour on Tumblr.com, I believe that I was put in this life as a test. That I must prove my taqwa (piety) through my actions, and to worship Allah ﷺ. I have a purpose, He has already chosen it for me. I just gotta go out into the world, discover it, and have full trust in Him. And to always live in moderation, there's an hour for this, there's an hour for that. Life, in general, is simple. I can do whatever I want, if I have time and if it abides with my religion.

Have fun, make friends, stay safe and stay true to yourself.

This one's tricky. I don't do small talk much or have that many friends in the world off the screen, but here are things I just say. A lot.

"Alamak" means "oh dear." I use this one when I've dropped something or banged a knee. Or when bad news arrive.

hehehehe i'm always worried that my url changes get out of hand but also you just gotta sometimes

okay, so i did locate the wip intro and a mini character intro

but yeah, we've got these two sisters with different views on romance due to age and personality and they're kind of not that close anymore - not bc anyone has done anything bad but because they're busy in various ways and don't regularly keep in touch

they realize independently that they're stuck in a time loop and the older sister (micah) is trying to handle it herself and the younger sister (josie) went to her for help so micah is now juggling so many things

which then drags in their older brother (hieu) who knows even less about his sisters' lives bc they tell him SQUAT but as a big brother he's here to support.

anyway, josie is set on fixing her romantic relationship to fix this time loop bc that is what fanfiction has taught her and here's where i'm still kind of brainstorming

but i think they manage to fix whatever josie has going on (too many candidates for Boyfriend Status, and she has questionable taste at times), and the time loop stops for a time and then starts up again

and then they try to fix micah's love life (her coworker is in love with her and she likes him but is afraid of commitment) and it works for a bit and then they're stuck in yet another loop

(or vice versa about whose loop they fix first)

ok so things I like about using the mobile site as a fennec app (shortcut to my dash on my homescreen, badge removed):

access to extensions because I'm using fennec I'm able to port in extensions of my choosing, so ublock, x-kit rewritten, shinigami eyes, etc. all working on what is essentially a mobile app version of Tumblr and that's v nice

the activity indicator lighting up for both new posts and notes activity so that you have to open the side bar to see which one and if you check your notes it doesn't clear the indicator unless you refresh your feed which only clears it for 2 seconds before a new post triggers it

the text selection oh my gooooooooood sucks BIG plus when you select text the mobile pop-up text action menu covers the tumblr text action menu so you have p much no access to any text modifiers within the post editor (like bold, italic, font/format, etc.)

if you can grab and drag tags i haven't found a way of reliably doing it. every time i click on a tag i enter the tag text editor - there doesn't seem to be a surefire place to grab the tag with the intention of changing the order

a lot slower ngl - prob bc of my extensions but opening tumblr as a tab in fennec is fine but from a homescreen shortcut is slow as shit

Q - Qiu Tong, Tamen de Gushi. Ngl, finding a character with a Q name was tough haha. Qiu Tong is a good choice tho, both for how big TdG was in my circles when it was at its peak, and the sad story of what happened to it. Free my girls!

U - Utena Tenjou, Revolutionary Girl Utena. Utena is too hard to watch to be my favorite anime, but I do think it's kind of the perfect anime, and I will truly never be free from taking inspiration from Utena herself when making characters.

I - Itto Arataki, Genshin Impact. My girlfriend played Genshin Impact and I was thinking about picking it up, but I wasn't totally sure, and then I saw this guy. History made.

C - Claire François, I'm In Love With The Villainess. I love the villainess genre, absolutely oversaturated with slop though it may be. This one is a fave, and what I like about Claire is that she has multiple arcs. So many examples of this genre use isekai or reincarnation explanations to sand off the rough edges, and while I think Claire is very sympathetic, the light novels show that she has to prove her good intentions and overcome her prejudices.

K - Kotori Minami, Love Live! She's not the strongest character, really, but I just like her a lot. Love Live! meant a lot to me when I was like, 21-22.

D - Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks. Gosh what a performance, huh? I was obsessed with this show in college, and the absolute weirdo energy brought to this character has never left my brain. I really gotta watch the new season.

E - Edelgard von Hresvelg, Fire Emblem: Three Houses. She's not my fave FE3H character, but I do like her a lot, and unfortunately the discourse around her is the clearest portrait I've ever seen of fandom misogyny. The double-standards, the flattening of motivations, the lack of credit or benefit of the doubt that male characters got easily, it's all there. Edelgard they could never make me hate you.

A - A2, NieR: Automata. This is a stand-in for her, 2B, and 9S, honestly. NieR: Automata is one of my all-time faves, with a story that I loved the whole way through. For me, they are "frequently bought together, do not separate them," but A2 is the only one whose name actually starts with a letter, so she gets the honor.

T - Tahani Al-Jamil, The Good Place. This is kind of another "ensemble" pick since it is hard to choose, although Tahani might be my favorite of the main four cast. I don't watch a ton of TV, but I honestly devoured this whole show in like... maybe three weeks? I love the characters, and I loved the story, and while The Office and Parks and Recreation never really hit for me, this definitely did. With Tahani specifically, it helps that I love Jameela Jamil.

H - Hanabi Yasuraoka, Scum's Wish. This is a hard manga to recommend, and Hanabi is a hard character to love, but it lined up for me at a time where I needed to read things about characters who weren't great people but still deserved the hope that the could be better. Fun fact, an article I wrote about my relationship to the anime for a website is, I believe, the first time I was ever paid for my writing.

S - Saeko Sawatari, How Do We Relationship? I could honestly talk about Sae forever. HDWR is maybe my favorite romance manga of all time, and Sae is relatable to me in ways I find affirming and representative, and also deeply uncomfortable. Sometimes I'll be reading normally, and then Sae will say something that feels like the kind of thing I'd write in a diary and then throw into the ocean strapped to fifty pound weights due to being too honest and vulnerable. I can't explain all the things that I see reflected back at myself from her, and honestly, I probably wouldn't want to. All I can say is that she's such a special character to me.

Oh no I didn’t remember your URL at all, haha. I was trying to remember, but I couldn’t. I just remembered having an alt account and logged in. 

Wow that’s so cute and wholesome! I’m so happy you found a healthy relationship! And they’re totally right, you shouldn’t rush yourself. You may feel alright, but it usually takes longer to heal. If you hurt yourself again before it heals, you’ll be much worse and can’t do shit, so be careful. Sometimes, you just gotta treat yourself as if you’d treat a child.

Yeah the music question is difficult, I should have made it easier! That album for that Lorde song is so comforting. It’s so light, sunny, and peaceful. I remember when it came out, it was so polarizing, but I liked it. Cults is such a throwback, I didn’t even realize they made new music. I used to listen to music from their first two albums a lot. When I read into the With My Eyes Closed lyrics, to me it’s about being scared of your future or outcome and it’s staring right back at you. So you close your eyes to keep it a surprise or having to stare at it back. I think it’s also about working hard to achieve a goal in your life, and wondering if it’s worth it or if it’s what you really wanted. I think the last lyric means it most likely was worth it. But that’s just my interpretation! 

If I had to answer the question, I’d probably do two songs too. In the first half I’d choose Rock Music by Shlohmo. That album pretty much predicted COVID and gives off world ending, apocalyptic L.A. feelings. The latter half, I’d choose Movement 6 from the album Promises. It’s my favorite album as of recently and reminds me of 2021 and onward.

I share a similar view as you. I used to plan my future a lot and have these expectations for myself, but I discovered that just leads to disappointment (but I guess it depends on the person). For me, life isn’t just a moving goal post. I think it’s better to be living in the present. I think it’s still okay to set loose goals and a direction for yourself, but I don’t believe in a strict stairway to success. 

Anyway, that’s super cool that you plan to go to Shanghai! I think knowing a different language is a superpower, it grants you a new perspective of the world. So I’m totally for it and cheering you on. There are so many cultures and communities to discover around the world. I’m trying to learn a new language, and I read a lot about theories in learning new languages, so if you need any pointers in developing your Chinese let me know. 

Honestly, I shouldn’t have thrown that question in there. My memory is a blur too, so I share the same sentiment. I just remember wholesome feelings of sharing each others perspectives in life.

I guess I asked that question because I have identity issues or I’m just existential. I feel as if my whole life, my personality has been in pleasing others and making sure everyone’s happy, to the point where I don’t really know how to be myself. I end up having too many hobbies or interests and it leads to feeling like I’m not good at anything. I just feel like I don’t have an identity. I wish I “had it together”, where I know what I want to do and I know what I want to stand for, and I knew what opinions I had for something. But I feel like I’m always in the gray, I’m always an “I guess” person, never decisive, and always basing my decisions on pleasing others. Not sure if you get me. When I was reading the past posts, my assumption is that I was wondering if I was “pleasing” you, if I was responding “correctly”, when in reality, I’m just wondering if I’m “being myself” or not. I feel like my personality back then wasn’t real and it was just mental illness in control lol. Ever since I stabilized my mental health, I really don’t know how to be myself, or what it’s like to experience being normal lol. I’m always inspired by artists, and wish I had some form of identity. Back then it was so easy to express myself, but now that I’ve changed so much, I feel it’s so hard to express myself and give a fuck about anything. I guess I have no one to please but myself now, and I don’t know how to please myself because I don’t even know myself lmao. It must be confusing but I hope that makes some sense! Also, not expecting an answer or anything, I’m just ranting at this point, haha.

Yea I love both lorde and cults. I'm very loyal to my nostalgia lol. I saw cults in concert though and it was really bad. The band was great but the singer was really pitchy. I needed some space from their music after that since it was so disappointing.. but yea, love their recorded music. I think your interpretation is interesting.

I'm working on the moving goal post thing. I always tell people to stay present but that's because I have such a hard time enjoying the process. I'm so goal-oriented, always have been. It's not sustainable and leads to burnout.

What language are you learning? I'm interested to hear more about these language-learning theories. Don't think I'm very familiar with the topic.

I think there is a lot of value in being in the grey. Nothing in life is black and white anyway, objective truth doesn't exist, and good and bad are just concepts. I have a lot of interests too, and there seems to be an expectation to master something and have a niche because of marketability and capitalism. But your many interests do make up who you are, and you don't have to pigeon hole yourself into one thing.

The phrase is, "jack of all trades, master of none, but better that than a master of one."

Not knowing who you want to be is an opportunity for you to explore and find out. I have a friend who has never been in a relationship and she just started dating maybe two years ago. I remember her asking me what to look for in a partner cuz she didn't know what she liked. But there was no advice I could give except to fuck around and find out. The only way to know is through doing. And what you don't want/who you aren't is just as important as you are too! It's honestly a really exciting position to be in.

Also, I just wanna say, people are always changing. It's not like you know who you are and then you stay that person forever anyway. Imo learning about yourself is the key to confidence and self-assuredness. I think people are always constantly learning about themselves because if you aren't changing, you aren't growing, and that's the worst thing you can do.
