Gothic Klonnie 2k19 | Casino

Bonnie was his lucky charm. Klaus hadn’t won a game in years, but ever since she walked into the casino’s bar, every hand was big and every pot was bigger. The more they won however, the more they changed into different people–people that could no longer stand to be around each other. If they left the money behind, could they go back to who they were?

Gothic Klonnie 2k19 - Day 1 - Castle

As a token of his love, Klaus gifts his favourite witch an old castle that have developed a beauty over time, only for her to discover a sinister power hiding within the castle walls.

It’s that time of the year again, klonnie fam! This year’s Gothic Klonnie 2k19 (31 oct - 2 nov) promises to be more Extra(TM)vagant than all previous editions combined! Hosted by yours truly and the divine @irresistible-revolution, the prompts for this year are: 

the castle (October 31): decaying time, ghostly cobwebs, portraits full of intimate strangers, the castle has long been a centerpiece of gothic architecture, appealing to the gothic tradition’s fixation on a not-quite-living and not-yet-dead past. for the gothic romance, the castle is a site where loneliness, longing, fear and ecstasy all converge. 

the cathedral (November 1): abandoned crypts and dusty pews. hearts and tongues and ears and bones of saints, wrapped in satin, awaiting worship. cathedrals typify the gothic fascination with arcane rituals, the horror of seclusion and the erotics of spiritual longing. for gothic lovers, they invoke forbidden desire and (un)holy devotion. the cruelty of angels and the sweetness of demons.

the casino (November 2): sites of extravagance and pleasure, debauchery and violence. liminal spaces where sequins and music and luxury cars mask greed, lust and murder. casinos are a part of the modern-gothic, a place for both possibility and ruin, pleasure and revenge, where gothic lovers taste both decadence and despair.

Gothic Klonnie 2k19 | Castle

The years of fighting had taken their toll. An unholy match of witch and hybrid had caused an uprising the likes of which the mystical community had never seen before. Seeking refuge, the witch called on her ancestors, and that night, the couple found a castle masked in a deep mist. The two spent some time in the castle basking in their love and solitude. The hybrid asked the witch to find a way to spend eternity with him, and the witch agreed to find a way. But they knew, for now, they had to return to the world and face their foes. As they left their sanctuary through the fog, they found themselves returned to the castle. They tried to leave in many different directions but always ended up where they started. While the witch’s ancestors loved her, the union had not been blessed, and they feared the perversion of nature if the witch lived forever. The castle would be a vehicle for their desires: protection and eternity. But forever is a very long time, and magic cannot protect you from yourself.

Gothic Klonnie 2k19 | Cathedral

November 1, 1952 Mother Superior woke me in the dead of night, and took me to the catacombs under the cathedral. She brought me to a locked room where a man and five coffins reside. I was told to use what I have learned of God to vanquish the creature before me. My nights from now on will be spent in the dark with him, discovering the secret to his demise. I have tried to pray for the strength and wisdom to help me complete my task but, I cannot. My mind keeps racing with the first words the creature spoke to me: “I know why they chose you”.

gothic klonnie 2k19/ day 3: casino

Gambling has always been the devil’s work, but many people whisper that the casino itself must have emerged from the mouth of hell.  

He can smell the innocence on her like a cold winter morning. The kind where you don't wish to leave your bed. Yes, she smells of the harsh cleanliness of snow (she must have driven through it to get here) but also the comfort of warm bed sheets.
