First of all, thanks so much for sending this! This was actually a really hard question to answer and I had to dig really deep to find the response I was looking for. I think I should mention that D’vora is a huge comfort character for me and has similarly stunted emotional development due to her childhood circumstances. I don’t exactly see myself in her, but I relate to her a lot, which is what makes her so important to me.

I guess what I like the most about D’vora is that deep down she’s still kind. Despite everything she’s been through, albeit hidden beneath her prickly exterior, she still wants the best for the people she cares about. It’s extremely hard for her to get close to anyone as she carries a lot of fear and trauma about personal relationships beyond the scope of her powers, but she’s a very loyal and trustworthy person. 

She is a little mean and that’s a quality she will always have regardless of her relationships with others — but her intention isn’t to hurt other people, it's to keep them away; to keep them safe even at her own expense. If that means she has to shut out the world and suffer in silence then so be it. Even if it’s very detrimental to her self-worth and identity, D’vora is willing to spend her life in solitude to protect the people she cares about and that’s a huge sacrifice. She might not be consciously aware of it and it might not be something that other people see in her, but she wants the best for others.

And that’s my favorite thing about her.
