The past few nights seemed to be hard on Riley and he was happy that she had agreed to stay over so he could help if she needed anything. Sitting there that night they ended up getting into a long talk, about everything and nothing at once and she had fallen asleep on his shoulder around four AM as they sat on the floor, leaning against his couch. His arm around her, Jude reached his hand up and started to scratch her head gently as she slept and turned on the TV with his other hand, settling in for a sleepless night.

He didn’t know how or why he had ended up at Riley’s house at 2 AM in the rain, but he had and he felt a little hallmark about it but he didn’t know who else he could bother. He had woken that night strangling a pillow and he felt unstable and dangerous. Hesitating as she stood in the door, the boy finally followed her into her home and hoped he wouldn’t have a flash again. He couldn’t bare to hurt someone else. “I...I’m fucked up, Riles.” He finally said, as he stood there dripping onto the carpet and broke down, trying to force the tears falling out back into his eyes. His father had always said they were a sign of weakness and he couldn’t be weak. Not now.

“OH my god this is amazing” Jude exclaimed as they walked on the sidewalk, his ice cream in his hand. It was a hot summer day and the ice cream seemed to hit the spot as he offered his spoon to Riley. “You have to try it, like right now.”
