Blurry Vision with a GoPro

Filming a beach session with my GoPro Max and it goes blurry. Turns out it wasn't from water on the lens sadly. However, it did add a unique perspective to the video.

Summary: reader takes Max for a rider on her bike

Warnings: none (for once)

Notes: written in second person. I’m expanding my horizons with these fluffy things. I’m cringing at my own writing because my imagination is to vivid. Also this is short sorry T_T

Masterlist

You had known Max liked bikes. He owns a Harley himself. It makes sense that he would be into what you do. Actually getting to race on a motorcycle around a track. Different then formula 1 sure, but still racing nonetheless.

Normally, Max hates marketing and the videos they make him do. But he’s making an exception this once since his girlfriend is taking him around the track on a bike. Not her bike because that one is for racing only, but something similar.

Max introduces you and him to the camera and sets himself behind you. A GoPro strapped to his helmet. She to having to wear pull helmets, it’s not going to get face reactions, but you have a feeling it’s going to catch a lot of swear words.

“You wanna ease into this?”

“Absolutely not.”

You rev the engine and pull out onto the track. Swerving a bit to warm yourself up. You start speeding up as soon as you hit the grid. Max’s grip around your torso tightening.

Your yelling for the fun of it as you brake late into turn one. The bike leaning farther into the ground then Max was expecting.

“You alright?”

“Simply lovely.”

You take that as a challenge. In turn two you hug the inside corner, almost hitting the chicane at an unrelenting speed.

Bikes are different then f1 cars. It’s easier to see and feel the speed because you’re more exposed even if you’re not going as fast. Something Max was not as prepared for as you continue taking the corners with amazing speed.

“I think- I don’t like this anymore.”

“Do you want me to slow down?”

“Absolutely not.”

“Your call!”

Then your speeding up into the last few corners. Max is holding on for dear life and you can’t stop laughing.

As you pull in to the pits and park the bike, Max falls to the ground with a thud.

“I love you and your sport. But I think I’ll stick to four wheel from now on.”

You lean down and kiss his forehead. “It’s okay Maxy. Next time you can drive.” You send him a wink as you walk back towards to camera.

It’s over the moment Max’s thigh presses against his in the back of the cooldown car.  Charles’ thoughts zero in on the warmth radiating off Max’s body, his pulse faster than it had been when he overtook Checo on the very last lap. He leans back against the headrest and wills his mind to go blank before he does something absolutely ridiculous.  Like grab Max’s face and kiss the bright smile right off it.  Charles eyes the GoPro on the dash. Fuck, he’s insane.

The sky over western Oklahoma looked like it had been bruised—heavy with storm tension, green light pooling under blackened clouds. The kind of sky that made your gut twist before a siren ever blared.

Riley “RJ” Jameson had seen a hundred skies like this. And she still wasn’t used to them.

“Crosswind’s picking up,” June said, glancing at the anemometer strapped to the dash. “We’re getting close.”

RJ didn’t look away from the laptop balanced in her lap. Radar data scrolled like a pulse—every color spike a heartbeat.

“We’ve got a mesocyclone,” she muttered. “This storm’s rotating already. If it tightens near Corn, we’ll have a touchdown in under twenty minutes.”

“Boone just said the same thing on the Wrangler stream,” June replied, pulling up a live YouTube feed on her phone. “Tyler’s crew is already in position.”

Of course they were.

A familiar red blur flashed in the side mirror before a very real roar of gravel and wind signaled the arrival of the infamous red truck itself—Tyler Owens’ truck, dust-caked and splattered with dried mud. He passed them with confidence like the road was made just for him.

RJ grit her teeth. “He’s going to get someone killed driving like that.”

“I mean,” June shrugged. “He hasn’t yet.”

“That’s not comforting.”

They pulled into the open stretch of farmland fifteen minutes later, the blacktop road turning to dirt under their tires. RJ climbed out of the van, scanning the sky.

The clouds above twisted like they were alive—turbulent and layered, tinged with that sickly yellow-green that always meant bad things were coming. She glanced toward the Tornado Wranglers’ setup: the red truck parked alongside a second vehicle, multiple camera rigs already deployed.

Boone was crouched beside the truck, adjusting a mounted GoPro, while Dani worked on wiring something into a firework launcher—probably their next dumb-but-effective storm flare. Lilly stood near the edge of the field, talking to an older couple who had pulled up with their grandkids. RJ caught the glint of a drone controller in Lilly’s hands.

Tyler stood out front, hat low over his forehead, sunglasses in one hand, squinting into the storm.

Of course he looked like he belonged there.

RJ set up her drone platform about thirty yards away, positioning it for max coverage. June began rolling the second drone to the backup position as the team comms came alive.

Dexter: “Rotation is confirmed. Shear is high. If we’re lucky—or unlucky—this thing touches down before it hits anything populated.”

Boone: “Which means we catch it in open country. Best-case scenario.”

Lilly: “Already sent coordinates to first responders in the area. Evac teams are on standby.”

Tyler: “Everyone, prep to deploy. Five minutes to interception.”

RJ rolled her eyes. “He always sounds like he’s in a movie.”

“You say that like it’s not hot,” June said around a smirk.

RJ didn’t dignify that with a reply.

The wind picked up. Fast. Debris began to spiral off the ground around them—tiny pieces of straw and grit turning circles in the dirt.

Boone jogged over toward RJ and June, camera slung over his shoulder. “Drone Queen,” he greeted with a grin. “You launching or waiting for God to sign off?”

RJ loaded her drone into the launcher and looked at him with one raised brow. “Tell your boss to stop trying to outdrive tornadoes and I’ll consider it.”

Boone laughed. “No promises. He was a cowboy before a meteorologist. Pretty sure chaos is hardwired.”

RJ pressed the button. The drone launched like a shot into the sky, rising fast and smooth toward the roiling clouds. The readout began immediately—wind speed, pressure drop, thermal shifts. She adjusted its path with a quick flick of her wrist, guiding it toward the core.

“Visual confirmation,” June shouted. “Funnel drop beginning!”

RJ looked up—and there it was.

Slender at first. Wispy. Almost beautiful. Then the wind sucked downward with a sound like a freight train and the thin tail thickened, touching earth in a violent curl of dirt and air.

The tornado was born.

And it was moving fast.

RJ didn’t hear him walk up—she never did—but suddenly Tyler was beside her, one hand resting on his belt, eyes locked on the twister.

“Good launch,” he said casually, as if they weren’t staring down nature’s fist.

“I know.”

He glanced at her, then back at the storm. “This one’s different. Got a weird read on it earlier—Dex said it might rope, but it’s got a wrap-around forming too. Could be a multiple vortex.”

“I saw,” she replied, still typing commands. “That’s why I launched early. Better chance of catching the funnel dynamics before it gets messy.”

He was quiet for a second, then said, “You always this calm?”

“No. Just better at hiding the panic.”

He smiled at that. “You’ve changed since last season.”

She paused. “People do that when they survive things.”

That sobered him. She could feel the weight of his gaze shift, but she didn’t look up.

“Meant to say earlier,” he said, after a beat. “That last run over in Kansas? Your drone footage helped us make the warning call three minutes early. That saved people.”

She looked at him then, just briefly. “I didn’t do it to save you.”

He laughed. “Didn’t say you did.”

As the tornado began to drift eastward, losing momentum, RJ retrieved her drone data and watched as the storm slowly unwound into the sky. Around her, Tyler’s team celebrated—Boone whooping, Dani high-fiving Dexter, Lilly giving out bottled water to bystanders.

And RJ?

She stood in the dirt, heart still thundering in her chest, staring at the cloudless slice of sky left behind.

“You okay?” June asked quietly, coming up beside her.

RJ nodded slowly. “Yeah. I just… I always feel like I leave part of myself in the storm.”

June nudged her gently. “Maybe that’s not always a bad thing.”

RJ didn’t answer. Her eyes flicked back to the red truck. Tyler was watching her. Just for a moment. Not smiling. Just watching.

Then he turned back to his crew.

I’m wrapping gifts rn for my family and imagining how chaotic it would be to hide gifts from lestappen. Charles is trying to find your hiding spaces, Max conveniently needs to enter the room you’re wrapping gifts in. He tries putting a GoPro on Jimmy and sending him into the room but you’re not an idiot. They will need to WAIT.

PLEASE THEY WOULD BE SO IMPATIENT😭

charles isn’t even subtle with it. this boy is literally listing places off and watching your face like that’s going to give him a hint as to where you’ve hidden them

and max is trying to pretend he doesn’t care but he definitely fucking does. and he’s competitive so he wants to find them before charles does

but jokes on them both because they are definitely hidden in either charles’ childhood home or a friend’s house because you know what your boys are like
