dev . differences
I’m just going to ramble on about some of the events from the games that this Sora reacted to differently. I was writing a huge bio that went over all the events from the games and his thoughts but...it became over 25 pages (and still incomplete) and wasn’t fun to write so I’ll just list out them here. Under readmore cause it’ll get pretty long.
Overall Mindset/mannerisms that’s consistent throughout all the games:
Sora doesn’t care too much about ‘light’ or ‘darkness’, he doesn’t really see as darkness as all bad considering his past - but knows when too far is too far.
Refers to himself as a shadow / darkness a lot - to the point goofy and donald would get worried.
He is much more...aggressive, and lashed out and argued with people more often than not - but again, knew when too far was too far.
K/H1:
Along with searching for Riku and Kairi, Sora also asked about his family’s crew and his parents when traveling to other worlds. The longer the journey went on the less he did this, as he started to convince himself that ‘adults could take care of themselves - but he was still just as worried about them when Destiny Islands fell into darkness.
He’s not sure if he even wanted to be ‘a true hero’ but went along with it if only because donald and goofy didn’t take him being a pirate seriously.
He was FURIOUS with Donald when he said Riku couldn’t come with them in Traverse Town. You better believe he straight up slapped and almost stabbed that duck. He says that he’s a pirate and not one for rules anyways- but Riku disappears before he can follow through on that.
In Monstro he knows that he didn’t have any right to lecture Riku about having a conscience - and Riku points this out to him. But Riku went from his voice of reason to...something else, and that pissed him off.
He doesn’t care that King Triton points out his ‘meddling’, he’s a pirate for goodness sake.
On Captain Hook’s ship Riku calls him ‘just a boy playing dress up’ - and Sora doesn’t let him forget this, ever.
Also Peter Pan almost attacks him on sight because he very much is dressed like a pirate but Donald and Goofy pull out the ‘kid playing dress up’ line too and so Peter Pan trusts them for a short time.
He is ALSO FURIOUS THAT RIKU TURNED HIS OWN SHADOW AGAINST HIM??? THE HECK DUDE???
Sora straight up almost ditches tinkerbell and just leaves the world - he doesn’t care about her too much. But he gives up only because he feels as if he owes her and peter a debt and he hates owing people. But he would still rather walk the plank than even attempt to hand over his keyblade.
Co/M:
He called Namine as a girl he saved in the middle of a storm and brought back to Destiny Islands. He would bring her all kinds of gifts and try to protect her from the harsh realities of the world. However one time he came to port, and she was just gone.
Some of the memories Namine was giving him had him living a normal life on the island, as she could see from his memories and heart that it was something he constantly thought about.
K/H2:
In Port Royal, He practically single-handedly runs the ship that he and the others are accompanying Jack on. When Jack questions him where he learned how to do all of this, he simply states that he’s a pirate aswell, but Jack is a little skeptical.
Donald and Goofy had to physically hold Sora back from getting into a fight with Will when he left Jack behind just because he was a pirate. So Jack was a ‘real’ pirate and he wasn’t?! Who died and made Will king of the seas?! Who made him judge, jury, and executioner? Why did he get to decide who was a real pirate or not?! Put it simply - Sora was pissed TM. He had started to yell about being a pirate himself but Donald and Goofy cover his mouth so Will wouldn’t leave them behind aswell.
Will later apologizes to Sora and Jack but Sora is bitter.
If you thought canon Sora was confused by the datascape you better believe that Pirate Sora is ten times more confused.
Goofy’s ‘death’ doesn’t shake Sora that much because he’s simply so used to death - what does surprise him is when Goofy ‘comes back’, that’s when he gets emotional. He’s so used to his crew members staying dead, that he didn’t realize what a relief it would be like if one was still alive.
Still unsure if he deserves to be a ‘hero’ but having his image in the stars is good enough for him to let it slide, after all pirates rely on stars.
He doesn’t completely get on his hands and knees infront of Saix, his pride not letting him do that - but he does knell. When Saix says no to taking him to Kairi - instead of jumping back Sora lunges forward cause he wants to strangle Saix’s neck. Saix’s next words are done in mid battle with Sora because he won’t stop throwing punches and even pulls out his keyblade he’s so mad.
D/DD:
Sora helps build something that’s better than a small raft but it doesn’t matter cause it’s still destroyed anyways.
He doesn’t become an Musketeer with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. He doesn’t think he deserves it and he would rather be known as an unruly pirate than an upright Musketeer.
Instead of saying the keyblade wouldn’t chose a wimp like him, Xigbar says something along the lines of the keyblade wouldn’t chose someone as ‘corrupt’ or ‘greedy’ as him - and Sora finds it ironic that only the bad guys seem to recognize him as a pirate anymore.
K/H3:
Again, he doesn’t get the pirate hat until Jack (the fake one) gives it to him in Port Royal.
Yes -Sora does know who Davy Jones is and what the Kraken is, but he gives the same reactions that he more or less gives in canon because he’s trying to cover up that fear - and at this point he’s faced so many strange enemies that he doesn’t think one or two more will scare him (he’s wrong).
He does more than just punch Davy Jones hat off just saying.
In San Fansokyo he’s accused of being a cosplayer and just roles with it tho he has no idea what that means. Not like anyone would believe him if he said he was a pirate anyways (yes he’s bitter).
His breakdown in the Keyblade Graveyard is similar just with different wording. Something along the lines of ‘what’s a captain without his crew’, etc etc.
REMIND SPOILER: When chirithy says he’s broken a taboo he’s just like ‘what i’m a pirate I break rules all the time it’s fine’.
