Hey, Siri, play “Ready to clown” by One direction on Spotify. We set the mood, now we can talk about
Harry’s anatomical heart tattoo!
but let me add these first:
Unfortunately, I’m a professional sap and an hard core meaning seeker even when there’s literally no need.
Anyway, I was talking to my moots a couple of days ago because, obvious as it is, Harry’s anatomical heart tattoo is wrong. They were like “yeah, but Harry is not a science queen like we are”. Giggles, laughs, funny jokes. And yeah, okay that’s fair, I guess… they also told me about this approach tattoo artists tend to have, which is inking tattoos inwards. This depends on the position, the shape, the dimension of the tattoo in order to give harmony to their design. It makes sense? Absolutely yes. Do I accept it? NO! Because my view is sweeter and cuter and nerdier. So… anatomy class following:
Here we have the anatomical heart. To the left, you can see an anterior view of the real anatomical position (apice point to the left of your body, but to the right in the image); to the right there’s the mirroring image, which is the same Harry has.
Harry’s anatomical heart tattoo is the “mirrored version” of the real one and in fact it points inward. As I said, this could be an advise from the tattoo artist to let the tattoo be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But—
But what if H chose it to be that way? I mean… we have a also birds with eyebrows, a mermaid with breasts ptosis… just what if H said “you know what? I wanna ink this mf heart like I see it: at his high and in front of me and when I’m hugging him this tattoo matches perfectly”.
#dont mind me i will be in the corner staring at the wall#usual non sense#hello what#harry tattoos#matching tattoos#goodnight my angels I will disappear after this embarrassed for myself#that’s cute though#like… what if? you know?#i love them

‘Took you long enough,’ Namjoon exclaims as I open the front door of his car and climb into the passenger seat. ‘Wait, whoa. Hold on. What is this?’ Namjoon demands as I shut the door behind me, and I quickly turn to look at him. ‘What?’ I ask worriedly, and he shakes his hand in my general direction. ‘This. Your outfit. I’m confused,’ he says, and I relax, rolling my eyes, trying to ignore the way my cheeks are heating up and hoping he doesn’t notice it. ‘Why are you confused, Namjoon?’ I ask as though I’m speaking to a child, and he laughs, starting up the car.
‘I’m confused because I’ve never seen you wear anything other than clothes that are way too big for you,’ he says, and I make an indignant noise as he speeds down the road like the devil driver he is. ‘Don’t even deny it, you know it’s true. I started to wonder if you had something you were trying to hide. A growth on your stomach. A hunchback. A pregnancy. Or worse; no boobs!’ he says, gasping dramatically, and I hit his shoulder, holding back a laugh. ‘I wasn’t hiding anything,’ I say, and he glances over at me, eyeing my chest, before his tongue darts out to wet his lip. ‘You were. I always assumed you had small tits – a B cup, max – but obviously not. I can’t believe you hid them so well. They’ve gotta be at least a D,’ he says, and I roll my eyes, not bothering to disclose that I’m actually an E. He’d probably pop a boner. ‘And your legs,’ he says, and I look down at them self-consciously. ‘What about them?’ I ask, and he blinks before looking down at my freshly shaved limbs. ‘I’ve never seen them before. They’re nice. Smooth. And curved, with some fat on them. I’m glad you don’t have stick legs,’ he jokes, and I sigh. ‘Stop body-shaming,’ I say, and he lets out a little chuckle. ‘Am I not allowed to have preferences?’ he smirks, eyes on the road as he overtakes cars left, right and centre. ‘No,’ I reply, and he bursts out laughing.
‘So what’s with the new look? What prompted this reinvention? Because, I’m either still tripping from last night, or you’re actually wearing makeup too,’ he says, and I shift embarrassedly in the seat. ‘I just felt like it was time for a change. I wanted to experiment, try something new,’ I say, and he nods, face blank. ‘Okay. Now, do you wanna tell me the real reason?’ he asks, and I laugh, annoyed that he knows me so well. ‘I was getting changed in my room-’ ‘Okay, hang on, let me picture it,’ Namjoon says, and I hit him again, ignoring his chuckles. ‘So, I was getting changed, and Nayeon barged in and had a meltdown over… my body. She said that she was really annoyed with me for hiding my body so much, because if she had my body, she’d walk around naked. Or whatever. Something like that. I’d never really… looked at my body like that, but once she said it, I realised that maybe I could start branching out, fashion-wise. So she took me shopping, and this is the trial of new outfit number one,’ I say, and he listens intently, nodding in all the right places.
‘So how have people reacted today?’ he asks, and I get a little embarrassed thinking about it. ‘Some of the girls in my class started screaming when they saw me, and Taehyung asked if I was new here, and if he could get my number. Oh, and our lecturer asked me to stay behind to ask if I was okay, because I didn’t seem to be myself today,’ I explain, and Namjoon bursts out laughing. ‘You’re kidding.’ ‘Not at all.’ ‘Wow. All I’ll say is to ignore Taehyung. I think all that weed has caused permanent damage to his brain,’ he says, and I can’t help but agree, wondering how that boy can even breathe right anymore. ‘Well, anyway. Why did you used to cover up so much?’ he asks, and I laugh. ‘Are you just gonna keep quizzing me?’ I ask, and he nods instantly, grinning. ‘I’m intrigued, y/n. You have to understand that this is a lot for me to process. My best friend has transformed into someone else since I last saw her. My mind’s going into meltdown mode,’ he says dramatically, and I roll my eyes at him. ‘Drama queen.’ ‘I learn from the best. You. Now, anyway. Can you answer my question?’
‘I don’t know.’ ‘You don’t know if you can answer my question?’ ‘No, moron, I don’t know why I used to cover up so much,’ I say exasperatedly, and he raises an eyebrow. ‘I find that slightly hard to believe.’ ‘Fine. I wasn’t the most confident in my body. It’s hard, seeing all these super slim tiktok girls, petite and slight, and seeing them dress the way I wanted to. It’s like… I felt stupid wearing the same clothes they wear because they look so different to me. The way the media glorifies slim women… it’s hard for not-so-slim women like me. So I just hid my body in loose clothes for so long that it was what I was comfortable in,’ I explain, Namjoon still listening attentively. That’s one of the best things about him; he may be an idiot, but he always listens to what I have to say.
‘That’s… kinda sad, actually. Because – don’t get me wrong, your old look did suit you – but this new look? It’s great. You look really good, y/n, regardless of the fact that you’re not a super slim tiktok girl,’ he says matter-of-factly, and I smile shyly. ‘Thanks. So it’s a yes to the black and white check mini skirt and blazer set?’ I ask, and he nods instantly with a grin. ‘I can’t wait to see the rest of your outfits,’ he says, turning into the car park at the shopping centre. ‘There’s… quite a few to come. I’m a bit nervous about a couple of them,’ I say as he pulls into a parking space, and he gives me a greasy smirk. ‘I’m even more excited now,’ he says, and I swat at him, the boy chuckling as he ducks away from my hand. ‘I’ve just driven you to buy you food, and this is what I get in return?’ ‘Yes. You’re lucky I’m not beating the shit out of you.’ He sighs, checking his blond hair in the mirror before climbing out of the car, and I reach into the back and grab my bag before getting out too.
‘Oh, my God,’ he says, sounding shocked, and I instantly panic. ‘What?’ ‘What are those?’ he shouts, throwing his hands down to point at my feet, and everyone within a hundred metre radius turns to look at us. ‘Joon!’ I exclaim, embarrassed at him grabbing so much attention. ‘Sorry. But seriously? What are those?’ he asks, and I look down at my shoes. ‘They’re sock boots. What’s wrong with them?’ I ask, and he stares at them before taking a step back and looking me up and down. ‘Nothing. They look great. I’m just shocked to see you in shoes other than trainers. And is that a handbag I see instead of the usual backpacks?’ he teases, and I roll my eyes. We walk towards the entrance, and I struggle to keep up with him (I always struggle when walking next to him, but even more so in these boots). ‘Wait,’ I say, hooking my arm through his so I can slow him down, and he laughs. ‘Aww, struggling in your boots?’ he teases, and I huff. ‘Shut up,’ I pout, and he laughs again, looking at me with an affectionate gaze and an amused smile.
But the affection and amusement soon disappears. ‘y/n. You’re literally killing me here. Hurry up,’ he says impatiently. ‘Sorry, Joon. It’s my first time wearing heels though, cut me some slack. At least I haven’t fallen over,’ I say brightly, trying to put a positive spin on it, and he scowls. He’s been trying his best to walk slow but he’s now struggling not to walk at his normal pace – his legs are so much longer than mine. ‘Yet,’ he says venomously, and I gasp. ‘Was that a threat?’ I demand, feigning indignance, and he side-eyes me. ‘Maybe it was. I could stick my foot out right now and no one would ever know,’ he says in a wistful tone, and I shoot him a dirty look. ‘I’ll step on your foot if you try it. Then who’ll be laughing when my boots ruin your Balenciagas?’ ‘Me, because you’ll be buying me new ones.’ ‘With what money? I ain’t got money like that.’ ‘Oh, but you got money for clothes?’ ‘I always got money for clothes.’ ‘Get a sugar daddy.’ ‘You are my sugar daddy.’ ‘Huh?’ ‘Who takes me out for food at least twice a week? And buys me things out of the blue?’ ‘Damn. I really am your sugar daddy. This isn’t a good deal for me at all. You’re getting the daddy, but I’m not getting any sugar.’ ‘I’m not sure that that means exactly what you intended it to mean.’ ‘You know what I meant. I want my sugar, bitch.’ ‘Jen can give you sugar instead.’ ‘Okay, but Jen isn’t getting the daddy. You are.’ ‘She was getting the daddy last night.’ ‘Did you really just refer to my dick as ‘the daddy’?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Never do that again.’
‘Where are we eating?’ I ask, and he grins. ‘Wang and Nayeon are waiting for us at Red Velvet,’ he says, and I gasp. ‘Yes! It’s been so long since we’ve been to Red Velvet!’ I exclaim, and he laughs amusedly. ‘I know. I was worried you might start getting withdrawal symptoms.’ ‘I thought we’d never go back. Does Seulgi still work there?’ I ask, raising an eyebrow, and he pulls a face. ‘Yep,’ he says, and I feel my eyes widen. ‘And we’re still gonna go?’ ‘Yes, because I’m a great person and make sacrifices for you even though all you do is abuse me and threaten to ruin my Balenciagas,’ he says, and I pout. ‘Sorry, Joonie,’ I say, putting on a baby voice as I give him puppy dog eyes, and he refuses to look at me, fighting a smile off his face. ‘Apology accepted. Now stop being the real-life version of that emoji.’ ‘Which one?’ ‘Don’t play dumb, you know exactly which one I mean.’
We round the corner to where Red Velvet is, tucked away from the rest of the shopping centre, and Nayeon and Jackson are sat in the window booth, watching a video on Nayeon’s phone together. When Namjoon and I enter, the little bell above the door rings, and both of them look up at us. Nayeon grins so wide I’m worried her face is going to split, and Jackson does a double take, eyes wider than an anime girl’s. ‘y/n?’ he exclaims, loud enough to catch the attention of everyone in the restaurant, and I shoot him a look, shushing him. ‘Oh, my God. What’s happened to you? Who’s this sexy thing?’ Jackson says as I slide into the booth opposite him and Nayeon, shuddering at the thought of my bare legs on the worn (and most likely, germ-carrying) leather of the seat as Namjoon slides in beside me. ‘Don’t refer to me as a ‘thing’, I’m not an object,’ I mutter, but my comment is ignored when Namjoon says, ‘literally my exact reaction.’ ‘No, it wasn’t. You did not call me sexy,’ I frown, and he blinks at me, looking surprised. ‘Did I not?’ he asks, and I shake my head. ‘Well, I thought you would’ve gathered that I thought that anyway. Based on the way I had to pick my tongue up from the floor when I saw you,’ he says, Jackson and Nayeon laughing as I roll my eyes.
‘You look good. Really good, y/n. I didn’t know you had boobs,’ Jackson says, inspecting me, and I try not to squirm under his scrutinising gaze. ‘Neither did I! Until I walked in on her naked!’ Nayeon says, Jackson’s eyes nearly falling out of his head. ‘I was in my underwear,’ I say defensively, and Nayeon rolls her eyes. ‘Details. But, yeah, after I saw her hot bod, I told her to stop wearing Billie Eilish’s hand-me-downs.’ ‘And gave her your hand-me-downs instead?’ ‘Excuse me, these are brand new,’ I point out, and Nayeon nods. ‘Yeah. You should know me better. I could never pull off an outfit like that.’ ‘I could pull it off you,’ Jackson jokes, Namjoon fist-bumping him as they laugh, Nayeon and I exchanging an exasperated glance. ‘I could pull it off you too, y/n,’ Jackson says with a little quirk of his eyebrow, and I roll my eyes, willing myself not to blush. ‘Jackson! y/n’s our baby, and we’ve gotta protect her from fuckboys, so stop being one,’ Nayeon says with a slap to his shoulder. ‘There won’t be any… fuckboys,’ I say, and all three of them raise their eyebrows at me. ‘You’re delusional if you think that. Just wait ‘til a frat boy sees you,’ Jackson says, and I frown. ‘Okay. That sounds fake, but, okay,’ I say, just as Seulgi appears to take our order.
‘Hi, and welcome to Red Velvet. What can I get for you?’ she says in the most bored tone I’ve ever heard. She must really hate her job. Even more with this moron sat beside me in here. ‘Can I get the Ice Cream Cake freakshake please?’ Nayeon asks, Seulgi gracing her with a rare smile as she writes down her order. ‘Can I get the Power Up brownie with Red Flavour ice cream please? And just water?’ Jackson asks, also getting a smile. ‘Can I get the Cookie Jar freakshake? And she’ll have Mojito cheesecake with Blue Lemonade. Thanks,’ Namjoon says, ordering for me too, but, unsurprisingly, he doesn’t get a smile. ‘Will you all be paying together?’ ‘I’m paying for mine and his,’ Nayeon says, pointing at herself and Jackson (she lost a bet with him a couple weeks ago, and owes him a meal). ‘And I’m paying for mine and hers,’ Namjoon says, Seulgi fixing him with a dirty look. ‘So this is who you’ve moved on to now?’ she demands, Nayeon and Jackson wincing. ‘Sis, you can have him,’ I say, unable to resist, and Namjoon shoots me evils as Seulgi looks bewildered. ‘Pardon?’ ‘I’m good, luv. Enjoy,’ I say, but she’s still staring at me, her mouth suddenly falling open. ‘y/n?’ she asks, and I nod, slightly confused. ‘OMG, I didn’t even recognise you. Girl, you look so good! I didn’t know you had boobs!’ she exclaims, and I have to stop myself from facepalming. ‘Thanks, Seulgi,’ I force out between gritted teeth, embarrassed as hell, but she doesn’t seem to notice, grinning away obliviously. ‘No problem. I’ll just get your orders put through and then I’ll come back for payments,’ she says, visibly perkier (nothing like seeing one of your friends unrecognisable after a makeover to cure a bad mood – apparently), before disappearing.
‘That was awkward,’ Namjoon says nonchalantly, all three of us fixing him with hard stares. ‘It wouldn’t have been so awkward if you weren’t such a dick,’ I say blithely, and he gasps dramatically. ‘Excuse me?’ ‘Don’t play innocent, dumbass. If you hadn’t had slept with Joy and Seulgi on the same day, we wouldn’t be in this situation. We’d actually have avoided a lot of situations if you weren’t such a dog,’ Nayeon says, brutally honest as ever. ‘Hey, I never made any kind of commitment to either of them!’ Namjoon defends himself, both Nayeon and I shaking our heads at him. ‘It’s common courtesy, douchebag,’ I reply, Namjoon sticking his tongue out at me. ‘I’d like to know what situations you’re referring to. I don’t get us into awkward situations,’ he says, all three of us giving him a ‘really?’ look.
‘Remember when we went out to that bar – what was it called again? Oh, yeah, Playing With Fire – and Jisoo threw that drink at you for blocking her on socials after you slept together?’ Jackson reminds us, Namjoon nodding slightly embarrassedly. ‘Oh, and when we went to Breakthrough, that club, and Sana got us kicked out by pretending we smuggled drugs in because you ghosted her after telling her you felt ‘something real’ for her?’ Nayeon brings up, all of us looking pointedly at Namjoon who nods sheepishly. ‘And that fight you got into with Daniel after you went ‘round telling people that Jihyo’s your sloppy seconds?’ I say, and he gasps indignantly. ‘I didn’t say that once!’ ‘Still. If you hadn’t had slept with her, that fake rumour wouldn’t have gone around,’ I say, and he pouts. ‘We could name several girls you’ve gotten us into awkward situations with. Chaeyoung, Hyejin, Wendy, Dahyun-’ ‘Okay, okay, damn. I get the picture,’ he says, the three of us exchanging looks.
‘Anyway, I need to go toilet. Come with me, y/n?’ Nayeon asks, and I nod. Namjoon sighs, reluctantly getting out of the booth to let me out. ‘Whoa, hold on,’ Jackson says, and I turn around to face him. ‘y/n… what you doing out here with all this ass?’ he asks, voice far too loud for my liking, and the few people in the restaurant turn to look at us disapprovingly. ‘Double cheeked up on a Thursday afternoon!’ Namjoon exclaims, before they chorus, ‘Hella ass!’ They burst into laughter, and my face is on fire, everybody in the restaurant staring at us (or, more specifically, my ass). ‘y/n, you dumb thicc, sis,’ Jackson says, and I take a deep breath before saying, ‘I’m going to go to the toilet now.’ ‘Take some ass pics while you’re there!’

You need to look after us,’ I plead, and he sighs again. ‘Give me a minute,’ he replies before the line clicks off. ‘Is he coming?’ Nayeon asks, and I nod. ‘Good, because it’s freezing,’ she says, clutching at her bare arms. ‘That’s what you get for wearing a t-shirt,’ I say, and she rolls her eyes. ‘It’s not like you’re dressed warmly either,’ she says pointedly, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘I’m not complaining about the cold.’ ‘Yeah, which I’m surprised about, because that top is thin as hell.’ ‘It’s not that thin.’ ‘Sis, I borrowed that top yesterday – it’s thin.’
I’m dressed in a black long-sleeve top tucked into a pair of greyish-whiteish joggers, with white trainers on my feet, a simple gold necklace around my neck with an initial pendant, a couple gold bracelets on my wrist and gold rings on my fingers. Nayeon’s in a pair of blue mom jeans and a black t-shirt, a cross body bag with both of our things inside it on her shoulder. Neither of us have bothered with full faces or pretty hairstyles – we’ve both got on basic makeup with our hair out and natural. It isn’t really that cold; it’s 8, and the air is starting to get crisp and cool, but the sun’s only just beginning to set, so there’s still a little warmth. Nayeon’s just a drama queen.
The door opens after a few seconds, Namjoon glowering at us, before he looks me up and down, his frown being replaced with a smirk. ‘Have I told you I love this new y/n? Like… this is a look,’ he says, and I grin at him, feeling a little more confident now. ‘I’m stood right here,’ Nayeon says with a half-hearted scowl, and Namjoon grins, grabbing her hand and pulling her into a side hug. ‘Nayeon, me complimenting you is like complimenting Mona Lisa. She already knew she was sexy as hell so what’s the point?’ he says easily, Nayeon preening as I roll my eyes. ‘You think Mona Lisa’s sexy?’ ‘Not as sexy as you.’ ‘Can we go inside? I’m cold,’ Nayeon says, not waiting for either of us to reply before she slips past Namjoon into the house. ‘Come on,’ Namjoon says, grabbing my hand and pulling me along behind him.
The second we step into the living room, the smell of strong cologne, alcohol and weed hits me and all eyes flit from Nayeon – who’s hugging Jinyoung and squealing – to me and Joon. Well, more me than Joon. ‘Woah. Who’s this? Surely not y/n,’ I hear Hoseok say, and I shoot him a dirty look, the boy grinning in return. ‘Shut it, stupid,’ I say, Namjoon continuing to walk towards the kitchen, dragging me along behind him. When we step into the kitchen, the smell of spicy wings hits me, and my eyes are instantly drawn to the takeout bags covering the countertop. But when I realise none of the bags are unopened, meaning frat boys have already been at them, it puts me off a little – I’d rather not eat food that might have been tampered with.
‘Look. My seat’s taken,’ Namjoon says pointedly, motioning to where Kai sits on a stool, beside Taemin and Seokwoo, the three of them laughing at whatever story Jaehyun’s telling them. ‘You’ll survive. What’s the point of having such long legs if you don’t stand on them?’ ‘There’s no logic in that. Go get my seat back,’ he says, and I side-eye him, wondering if he’s being serious or not. ‘How am I supposed to get your seat back?’ ‘Go flirt with him.’ ‘No! Him and Krystal have got a thing,’ I say, and Namjoon rolls his eyes. ‘That won’t stop him from flirting back,’ he says, and I glare at him. ‘I cannot stress this enough. Men are trash,’ I say before turning away from him, heading towards where there’s a couple dozen drink bottles and cups covering the countertop. I carefully pour myself a lemonade, making sure the cup’s clean and the bottle hasn’t been tampered with (I know Wing Wednesday is ‘for the boys’ so it’s unlikely it’s spiked, but it never hurts to take precautions).
‘y/n!’ I hear Mina exclaim, and I turn to see her stood there, smiling widely. ‘Mina!’ I squeal, pulling the girl into a hug. Mina’s one of Nayeon’s friends (they’re on the same course) but because Nayeon and I are inseparable, Nayeon’s friends are my friends too. Mina’s here because she’s dating Bambam, a KPN frat boy, and it makes me realise my privilege; Nayeon and I are only here because of our connections. If we weren’t best friends with Jackson and Namjoon, we’d have missed out on so many amazing memories. ‘How have you been? I haven’t seen you for ages!’ she says as we break apart, and I grin widely. ‘I’ve been good. Really good.’ ‘You look it. This style is, like, amazing! Is this new style permanent?’ she asks, and I smile shyly. ‘I think so. I actually… really like my new style,’ I say, and before Mina can speak, I hear Baekhyun say, ‘I like it too.’ Mina and I both turn to look at him, his stupid grin making me roll my eyes amusedly. ‘Hey, Baek,’ I say, the boy opening his arms for a hug, which I give (reluctantly). Baekhyun is Nayeon’s ex. They’re still friends – they’re actually on really good terms – but I’m still… cautious around him. He’s funny, and we get along, but I can never see him the same after hearing all the drama from Nayeon.
I clear myself a space on the countertop and boost myself up, sitting on the hard wood surface and Mina joins me, Baekhyun standing in front of us. ‘Have you had any wings?’ Baekhyun asks, and Mina and I exchange a glance, obviously thinking the same thing. ‘No, I’m… not really feeling wings,’ I say, Mina nodding in agreement, letting out little giggles behind her hand. ‘Aren’t you hungry?’ he asks, and, to be honest, I’m starving. But I am not about to eat those… frat boy wings, and neither is Mina. ‘Yeah, I could eat.’ ‘Let’s order some pizza then,’ he grins, and I gasp. ‘Pizza? On Wings Wednesday? Isn’t that against frat laws?’ I tease, and he rolls his eyes, pulling out his phone. ‘What toppings do you have?’ ‘Just get margherita.’ ‘Shall I get two larges?’ ‘Yeah, Nayeon will want some too,’ I say, and he rolls his eyes again, an amused smile on his face. ‘I’m not ordering pizza for Nayeon – I’m ordering it for us.’ ‘I’ll transfer you the money.’ ‘y/n… it’s pizza. You don’t need to transfer me money for it.’ ‘Why not? I don’t mind paying.’ ‘Yeah, but what kind of gentleman would I be if I made you pay’ ‘You’re not a gentleman,’ I reply amusedly, and he clutches his heart, pretending to be hurt. ‘I am.’ ‘You’re not. And you’ve made me pay for food before. Remember the Chinese we ordered after the LSG party, and you made me answer the door, so I had to pay?’ I say, and he winces. ‘Well… the pizza makes up for it,’ he says, and I just raise an eyebrow, amused.
It’s so… wrong that he’s only willing to pay for food for me now that he finds me attractive, but I won’t complain aloud; it’s free food after all. And then it gets me thinking. Maybe I should… take advantage of the effect my new look’s having. I mean, frat boys aren’t the… smartest, are they? Namjoon may be an exception when it comes to his education, but his common sense? He has next to none, demonstrated by the stupid situations his whore behaviour has gotten us into. And the rest of them are even stupider than him. I’ve always been a master of manipulation, and it’ll be even easier now they think I’m hot.
It isn’t long until the pizzas arrive and the second Baekhyun leaves to collect them at the door, Mina turns to me with a grin. ‘Girl, if you don’t take advantage of all these boys thirsting over you, I swear, I’ll be so disappointed,’ she says, making me burst into laughter. ‘I was literally just thinking about doing it!’ I exclaim, both of us laughing. ‘No, but for real. You should, like, make the most of it while it lasts. Not to sound nasty, but you know it won’t be long until there’s another girl they’re all into. You should exploit this opportunity whilst you’re still the… object of the affections,’ she says, making me laugh. ‘Exploit this opportunity?’ I repeat, and she nods with a grin. ‘Their generosity will only go to a certain extent,’ I say, and she raises an eyebrow. ‘Wanna test that?’ she asks, a challenging glint in her eye, and I grin, nodding. ‘Go look in the fridge, and when you’re asked what you’re looking for, say… Vanilla Coke.’ ‘Vanilla Coke?’ ‘Mmhmm.’ ‘Okay.’
I head over to the drinks fridge (they keep their food in the mini fridge and their drinks in the big fridge – their priorities are so fucked up) and open the door. I scan the bottles, seeing mainly lemonade and coke with a couple alcoholic bottles, but no Vanilla Coke. ‘y/n!’ I hear from behind me, and I turn to see Donghyuck stood there, a big grin on his face. ‘Hyuck! Hey!’ I exclaim, throwing my arms around him. Donghyuck and I did extra credit classes together last year, and I’ve barely seen him since. ‘You look so different!’ he says, holding me away to inspect me, hands light on my shoulders, and I grin, bending one leg at the knee and striking a pose, making him laugh. ‘It’s weird to see you in clothes that fit,’ he teases, and I roll my eyes. ‘Don’t even. Everyone’s making such a big deal of it.’ ‘Yeah, because you look hot.’ ‘Whatever.’
I turn back to the fridge, and he comes to stand beside me. ‘Whatcha looking for?’ ‘Vanilla Coke. I’m, like craving it,’ I lie, and he raises an eyebrow. ‘You’re lucky we’ve got lemonade and coke. KPN stick to basics,’ he says, and I roll my eyes. ‘Well, maybe you shouldn’t. Vanilla Coke is amazing.’ ‘Well, the corner shop down the road might have some. Shall we go get some?’ he suggests, and I’m shocked. Mina was right. He’s willing the leave Wings Wednesday with his frat brothers to go get Vanilla Coke from the shop with me. ‘You sure?’ I ask, and he nods. ‘It’s only a two-minute walk.’ ‘Okay. Let’s g-’ ‘y/n!’ I hear Mina call before materialising next to me. ‘Hey, Mina,’ I say, Donghyuck greeting the girl too. ‘Hey, Hyuck. I’m need to steal y/n. Emergency,’ she says, and my eyes widen. I’ve literally left her alone for a minute. What emergency does she have? ‘You okay?’ ‘Yeah, it’s just… I started. Do you have a pad?’ she whispers, loud enough for Donghyuck to hear, the boy wrinkling his nose in disgust, making me roll my eyes. Why boys are so grossed out about periods, I don’t know. It took two entire years of friendship with Namjoon to get him to buy me some pads. ‘Yeah, I do.’ ‘Will you come to the toilet with me?’ she asks, and I nod, apologising to Donghyuck before Mina drags me out of the kitchen, through the living room and upstairs.
‘Oh, shit! My pads are in Nayeon’s bag,’ I say when we reach the top of the stairs, and Mina lets out an annoyed noise. ‘I don’t actually need a pad, stupid! I was just getting you away from him,’ she whispers before pulling me into the bathroom. ‘What? Why?’ ‘Because now he’ll go get your Vanilla Coke from the shop and you won’t have to go with him,’ she says, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘Are you kidding? He’s not gonna go.’ ‘Yes, he will,’ she says, before letting out an exasperated sigh. ‘Remember when I stayed home for a few months, because I wasn’t well?’ she asks, and I nod – Nayeon was heartbroken that she didn’t have Mina to gossip with in her lectures. ‘When I came back, all the boys were fussing over me. Trust me; he will go and get that coke.’
We spend a couple minutes in the bathroom, reapplying our lipgloss and fixing our hair, before we head back downstairs, quickly grabbing two of the empty stools in the kitchen, Bambam sat next to Mina and Namjoon sat next to me, chatting with Minho about football strategy for their next match. ‘y/n!’ I hear Donghyuck’s voice after a few minutes, making me stop mid-conversation with Yugyeom about dessert on Monday at Red Velvet (it was so good, I can’t stop thinking about it – I might have to drag Namjoon back there this weekend). I turn to see him stood at the door, holding up a bottle of Vanilla Coke, and I have to stifle a laugh, pushing down guilt. ‘Oh, my God, thank you, Hyuck! You’re the best!’ I exclaim, giving the boy a hug before he disappears to find me a clean cup. ‘I was right,’ Mina says with a grin. ‘I feel bad.’ ‘Don’t. You didn’t make him get it.’ ‘Yeah, but I’m not even gonna drink it. I don’t like Vanilla Coke.’ ‘Well, it’s a good thing I do.’

‘Hi, welcome to Starbucks! What can I get you?’ the barista asks, smiling widely. He’s handsome, with dirty blond hair pulled back into a ponytail and sparkling brown eyes, and I can’t help but smile back. ‘Hi, can I get two large iced vanilla lattes please?’ I ask, the boy nodding as he clicks away at the register. My eyes flit to his little name tag. His name is Hyunjin. Cute. ‘What name shall I put on the cups?’ he asks, eyes sparkling when he looks back up at me, and I smile shyly when I say, ‘y/n.’ ‘Pretty name for a pretty girl,’ he replies, not giving me a moment to process the compliment before he says, ‘that’ll be £7.40. Cash or card?’ ‘Card,’ a voice behind me says, and I turn to see Jaemin stood there, smiling. ‘Can I add a large iced americano to that too?’ he says, holding up his card, and Hyunjin nods, tapping at the register. ‘Jaemin, don’t. I’ll pay,’ I say, though it’s Namjoon’s money in my hand, not my own. ‘It’s fine, y/n. I don’t mind,’ he says with a grin, and I smile back, touched.
Jaemin moves around me to pay for the three drinks, and I feel a little awkward, stood behind him, waiting. ‘How have you been, y/n?’ he asks once he’s paid, and I smile. ‘I’ve been really good, thanks. How about you?’ ‘Yeah, great. You look… different since the last time I saw you,’ he says with a little smirk, and I roll my eyes, an amused smile playing at my lips. ‘I’m assuming that was a compliment.’ ‘Of course. How could it be anything other than a compliment when the ‘different’ I’m talking about is this?’ he says with a flirty grin, motioning to my outfit (a pair of tight black cargo trousers and a long-sleeved black top, big black stomper boots on my feet and silver jewellery).
Jaemin flirts with me for a little while, but his americano is ready before mine and Joon’s lattes and he has a lecture at 3.30, so he leaves with the promise of continuing our conversation at the ASP party tomorrow, which I had no idea about. ‘y/n!’ Hyunjin calls and I go over to grab the lattes. I notice a caramel shortbread on a plate beside the cups, and I look up at him questioningly, the boy grinning back. ‘It’s on the house,’ he says, and I can’t help but let out a giggle, flattered. ‘Thank you.’ ‘No problem… y/n. I’m a student, at the university, and I heard your… friend talking about the party tomorrow. I’ll be there, and it’d be nice to see you,’ he says, smiling as he leans against the counter casually, my heart jumping. He’s hot, he’s confident and he’s sweet – I could definitely see myself getting to know him. ‘Yeah, it’d be nice to see you too,’ I reply shyly, breaking off our eye contact after a few seconds. ‘See you tomorrow then,’ he grins before turning to deal with the next customer.
I carefully take the lattes and the shortbread over to mine and Joon’s table in the corner, the boy instantly biting into the shortbread. ‘That is mine.’ ‘I paid for your coffee, so I can have a bite of your shortbread,’ he says, mouth full of food, and I scrunch my nose up in disgust, sitting down opposite him. ‘No, actually, you didn’t. Jaemin did,’ I say, dropping Joon’s money on the table in front of him, and he frowns. ‘Who’s Jaemin? The cute barista you were just flirting with?’ he asks drily as he picks up one of the coffees, taking a sip. ‘No, his name’s Hyunjin. And I wasn’t flirting with him,’ I say, embarrassed, and he raises an eyebrow. ‘Then what’s this?’ he asks, holding his cup out to me. I can’t hold back my smile when I see that Hyunjin’s written his number on the label with a smiley face beside it. ‘Exactly what I thought. Anyway… who’s Jaemin?’ ‘KPN Jaemin. He was behind me in the queue and he paid for our drinks. And then Hyunjin gave me the shortbread for free,’ I say, and Joon narrows his eyes at me.
‘I can’t believe you’re making these boys do all these things for you.’ ‘They’re doing it voluntarily – I’m not making them do anything!’ ‘So you didn’t make Donghyuck get your Vanilla Coke on Wednesday?’ ‘No, he choose to go get it!’ ‘Well, you’re putting Tia and Tamera to good use.’ ‘Tia and Tamera?’ I ask, confused, and he points at my chest. ‘Tia… and Tamera,’ he says, naming each boob, ‘don’t you listen to Doja Cat?’ ‘Not religiously – Say So’s the only song of hers on my Spotify.’ ‘Tasteless.’ ‘You’re tasteless for accusing me of using my boobs to manipulate boys,’ I hiss, and he rolls his eyes. ‘Did I lie?’ ‘Yes!’ ‘Okay, maybe I did. It’s not just Tia and Tamera. It’s Tia and Tamera and… Nicole!’ he says, and I blink in confusion. ‘Nicole?’ ‘Use your brain.’ ‘Did you just name my ass Nicole?’ I ask incredulously, and he nods, seemingly proud of himself. ‘People look at it more than they look at your face, so I think it deserves naming,’ he says bitterly, and I gasp. ‘That was low. People look at my face. I’m not just my body. My face is pretty too,’ I say coldly, a little hurt, and he looks guilty. ‘Well, of course your face is pretty, I just-’ ‘You just what? Judged me, even though you’ve slept with more girls than I’ve ever been friends with? Just remember that there’s a lot you’ve done that I could judge you on, but I don’t, because we’re best friends.’
The air is tense after I finish speaking, and I feel sick. Joon and I have never argued. Our friendship has always been so laidback, so chill, so easy. I’ve never had any downs in my friendship with him because we get along so well. But I’m surprised at him being so judgmental, and so… douchey about me getting some male attention for the first time in… well, forever. ‘Sorry, y/n. I’m being a dick,’ he says softly, and I can see that he feels guilty. I decide it’s best to end our argument here, because this isn’t a nice feeling. ‘Whatever, it’s fine, Joon. Anyway… you didn’t tell me ASP are having a party tomorrow! Am I not invited?’ I tease, and he grins, the tension between us gone. ‘No, you’re not. I’m tired of you being so dependent on me.’ ‘Shut it. You’d be lost without me.’ ‘Whatever. I was supposed to tell you about it at KPN, but I barely got to speak to you. You were… popular that night,’ he says quietly, not meeting my eyes, and suddenly, I can feel the awkwardness making a reappearance. ‘Ah, well, I guess there’s no point asking you to take me to Red Velvet then,’ I say wistfully, trying to change the subject, and he rolls his eyes. ‘Ask Wang, he’ll take you.’ ‘No, it’s fine. I don’t wanna be bloated at the party. We can reschedule to Sunday – order some for a hangover cure. Can I sleep over?’ I ask, and he nods, smiling to himself. ‘You and Nayeon are always welcome. There’s enough bed space for the three of us.’ ‘You say that, and yet, you end up on the floor with us two in your bed every time.’ ‘I’ll climb in with you while you’re asleep.’ ‘Isn’t that illegal?’ ‘Shut up and eat your shortbread. Or do you not wanna be bloated?’ ‘Matter of fact, you’re right. These cargo trousers are already tight.’ ‘That’s because you’ve got a fat ass.’
y/n: hey, is this hyunjin ? from Starbucks ?
hyunjin: yeah, and is this y/n ? the pretty cargo trousers girl ?
y/n: the one and only ☺️
hyunjin: I was worried you wouldn’t reach out to me after I saw you go and sit with that boy
hyunjin: I felt terrible bc I didn’t even ask if you had a boyfriend
y/n: oh no, he isn’t my boyfriend
y/n: he’s my best friend, namjoon
hyunjin: as in kim namjoon ?
y/n: yep, you’ve probably heard of him lol
hyunjin: I have lmao he has quite a reputation
hyunjin: I didn’t recognise him
hyunjin: I just saw you go and sit with a handsome boy and I felt awful
y/n: well, you don’t have to feel bad
y/n: and he’s not that handsome lmao
y/n: he’s just… namjoon
hyunjin: well, I’ll have to thank him when I see him
hyunjin: if he hadn’t given you my number from his cup, I’d have felt like an idiot
y/n: it’s a good thing he pointed it out to me lol
hyunjin: yeah, I’m relieved
hyunjin: I know it’s forward of me and I hope you don’t think I’m out of line
hyunjin; but I just thought you were really cute and I didn’t want to waste the opportunity
hyunjin: especially after jaemin paid for your drinks and flirted with you
hyunjin: I know it sounds silly but I was debating whether or not it was worth competing with him
y/n: jaemin’s not really interested, he flirts with anything that has a pulse
y/n: but I’m glad you didn’t waste the opportunity
y/n: I thought you were cute too, and I love your hair
hyunjin: ah thank you! I was a little nervous about growing it out
y/n: it’s unique, and it really suits you
hyunjin: thanks y/n :)
hyunjin: it’s late so I’m gonna head to bed but I’m glad you texted me, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow !

‘y/n! y/n! y/n!’ ‘Oh, my God, Nayeon, you’re like a child! I’m mid-conversation!’ ‘I know, but this is important!’ she says, tugging on the strap of my top, her force nearly making me spill my drink down my outfit. I thought I’d dress simple, in just a black strappy lowcut crop top and a pair of ripped blue jeans, fluffy black slides on my feet and simple gold jewellery to accessorise. ‘Sorry, Dahyun,’ I sigh with a roll of my eyes, the girl grinning back. ‘It’s fine – go deal with your important business,’ she laughs, and Nayeon takes this as a signal to drag me into the kitchen, leaving Dahyun alone in the back garden. ‘What is it?’ I ask, and she grins. ‘I found your cute barista boy! Well, I think so, anyway. Not many boys have dirty blond ponytails.’ ‘Oh… okay.’ ‘Aren’t you excited?’ ‘I think you’re excited enough for both of us.’ ‘I’m serious, y/n! I saw him, and he’s really hot! You’ve been texting all day, and you said he’s really sweet. He could be your first boyfriend!’ ‘Nayeon, you’re getting ahead of yourself – I’ve literally known him for… 32 hours. And I don’t even know him, really. All I know is his name and that he works at Starbucks.’ ‘Well… this is your chance to get to know him. He’s with his friends in the living room – go,’ she says, not giving me a chance to reply before she pushes me through the open door.
He spots me instantly, calling my name, and I scan the room until my eyes meet his, smiles breaking across our faces as he waves me over. I head around the edges of the room, not wanting to get caught in the group of people dancing, until I reach him and his friends in the corner. ‘Hey, y/n! You look nice!’ he exclaims, smiling widely, and I feel butterflies; he really is so handsome. ‘Thanks, Hyunjin. You do, too,’ I say honestly, looking him up and down; his black jeans, loose blue and white striped shirt only buttoned halfway with a black t-shirt beneath are a chic and stylish contrast to the Starbucks apron he was wearing yesterday. Half of his hair is up in a ponytail with a few loose strands framing his face and his ears are adorned with earrings, sparkling in the low light. He introduces me to his friends, who all seem nice (I think I’ve seen a few of them before – I’m sure a couple of them are KPN frat brothers). As soon as the introductions are done, he asks if I’ll go with him to get a drink. He takes my hand gently – a shock running up my arm at the contact – and leads me into the kitchen, getting himself a bottle of Soju from the fridge. ‘Do you want one?’ he asks, and I scrunch up my nose – I find Soju absolutely disgusting. ‘Thanks, but I’ll stick to my vodka coke for now,’ I say, holding up my cup, the boy laughing as he nods, shutting the fridge after him.
We stand in one corner of the kitchen, chatting, and our conversation flows so easily. He’s an architecture and design major, but he does dance on the side too, with some of his friends. I ask him to tell me the basic things about him and I find out that he has a dog called Kkami, he loves autumn, he’s allergic to cat fur, his favourite food is sushi and his least favourite foods are onion, carrot and eggplant. Even though he’s so handsome (like intimidatingly handsome), he’s so modest, down-to-earth, and just so sweet. He’s like a breath of fresh air in comparison to the boys I spend time with on a daily basis (no shade to Jackson and Joon, but they’re nowhere near as gentlemanly as Hyunjin – he gets me two refills before I even realise that my cup is empty, and he gets me two slices of pizza as soon as it arrives because I mentioned I hadn’t eaten). I can already feel myself crushing on him; every time he compliments me, I get so flustered and all I can do is giggle – two weeks ago me would have hated now me.
After what could be hours (I’m having the time of my life chatting away to him), he asks me to dance with him, and I’m filled with an inexplicable fear. Actually, no. It’s explicable; I have never danced at a party before. Ever. ‘It’s okay… I won’t bite,’ he teases, and I take a deep breath, smiling as I nod. He takes my hand again, his touch so light and gentle, and instead of pulling me along behind him, he lets me go first, standing just a few inches behind me as we head into the living room. We mould into the group of our peers dancing, and I feel a little awkward at first, but I soon loosen up into the rhythm of the Rihanna and Bryson Tiller song pulsing out into the room. He’s really the perfect gentleman; he doesn’t lay a hand on me other than to move me out of the way when someone drunk stumbles past. It’s a nice change from the boys that don’t hesitate to just come up behind a girl and grab onto her waist, forcing himself onto her.
But after a while, I can feel the several vodka cokes starting to take effect, my mind a little hazy, and a tipsy y/n mixed with the RnB baselines floating out from the speakers isn’t a good combination. Hyunjin’s tan skin glows in the low light, his eyes sparkling, and he looks so fucking handsome, his plump lips stretching up into a flawless grin when I hook my arms around his neck loosely, moving closer. We dance a little more… intimately, our bodies pressed together after a few minutes, and his hands rest on my lower back, not venturing any lower, and his eyes stay on my face, even though my cleavage is right there. His gentlemanliness just makes him even sexier to me.
I look up at him, and notice that some of his hair in his face, and so I reach to brush it back behind his ear. His hair is so soft, the locks just gliding between my fingers, and I can’t help but run my fingers through the loose hair that he hasn’t pulled up into a ponytail, my nails gently scraping against the back of his neck. He shivers a little, his neck obviously sensitive, and it makes me look him in the eyes, practically getting lost in them. And before my brain can even register it, he leans towards me and my eyes flutter shut, his lips softly brushing against mine a few moments later. My first kiss.
He moves away, almost to check if I’m okay with it, and I just lean towards him, pressing our lips together again, making him let out a chuckle against my mouth. My mind numbs a little when he parts my lips with his, his tongue sliding into my mouth, and I really didn’t know that kissing was this good. His hands press into my back, holding me against him, and I grip onto his strong shoulders, his scent of lemony shampoo and expensive aftershave flooding my senses as our lips move against each other. ‘y/n, get a room!’ I hear Jin, one of Joon’s stupid friends, shout, followed by laughter, making me break away from Hyunjin, blinking as though I’ve just woken up, Hyunjin just smiling back at me. I turn to Jin, shooting him a dirty look and telling him to fuck off before turning back to Hyunjin. I feel braver than usual due to the alcohol and the fact that I’ve just kissed a boy I met yesterday in the middle of a frat party, and so I ask, ‘do you… want to get a room?’ ‘Um… what?’ he asks, blinking, and I feel the humiliation setting in already. ‘I mean, we don’t have to… but I thought you might want t-’ ‘Yes. I do want to.’
We’re both laughing drunkenly as we head up the stairs (it seems the several bottles of Soju he’s had have made him a little tipsy), our hands clasped together. ‘Whose room are we using?’ ‘Um, we can use Namjoon’s. I’m sure he won’t mind – he’ll be proud I’ve finally kissed a boy,’ I say, leading him into Joon’s room. The second we enter, he shuts the door, pushing me up against it and pressing our lips together again, his body against mine and our hands still intertwined against the door. I tangle my free hand into his soft locks, his free hand gently roaming up and down my side, and it’s bliss, the way he touches me. He’s such a good kisser – though it’s not like I have much experience anyway. ‘Did you say I’m your first kiss?’ he asks, lips moving against mine, and I let out a little noise of affirmation, the boy grinning. ‘Good,’ he murmurs, the word making my stomach turn with butterflies.
But it’s like I’m not allowed good things. There’s a loud hammering against the other side of the door, making both of us jump, and I manage to move out of the way just before it flies open, Namjoon storming in, anger all over his face. ‘y/n,’ he says, voice shaking, and I look at him in concern, wondering what’s happened. ‘Joon, are you okay?’ ‘No, I’m not,’ he says, teeth gritted, and it’s then that I realise; he’s angry at me. ‘Oh, did you… should I have asked you if I could use your room? I didn’t think you’d mind, I’m so-’ ‘God, you’re so fucking dense!’ he shouts, making me flinch, and Hyunjin looks between us before saying, ‘y/n, I’m gonna go, you guys speak in private. I’ll… be downstairs.’ I nod, too shocked to speak, and even more shocked at the way Namjoon stares daggers at Hyunjin as he slips past him.
‘What’s your problem? There’s no need to be such a dick to me, or to Hyunjin.’ ‘Oh, so you do know his name? I’m surprised, since you only met him yesterday.’ ‘Stop being so fucking judgy! You’re allowed to fuck anything with a vagina, but I kiss a boy I met yesterday and the world’s ending!’ ‘I’m not judgy, y/n, I’m jealous! Can’t you fucking tell?’ he practically screams, and the words don’t register with me for a moment. ‘Jealous?’ I echo, and he lets out a humourless laugh, sinking down onto his bed. ‘Yes, y/n, jealous. I’ve only been in love with you for two fucking years,’ he mutters, the words hitting me like a ton of bricks. He’s in love with me. My best friend is in love with me. ‘Joon, I-’ ‘You what, y/n?’ he asks angrily, and I’m filled with such rage, I want to slap him.
‘I didn’t know! If you’d told me, I’d understand why you’re so angry! But you didn’t, so stop fucking shouting at me, and being such a dick, and making me feel guilty when I shouldn’t!’ ‘There was no point telling you, because you don’t love me back!’ he shouts, and now I feel even more guilty. ‘I love you, Joon, but as my best frie-’ ‘And that’s why I didn’t tell you! I could deal before, when I was still getting to spend time with you every day, but now that you’re getting all this attention from all these boys, it’s so… difficult.’ ‘You still should have told me,’ I say quietly, and he scoffs. ‘There was no point! It doesn’t change anything! You still don’t like me!’ ‘No, I don’t, but you shouldn’t be angry at me about it.’ ‘I think I have a right to be angry!’ he shouts, and my eyes fill with tears. ‘Well, you don’t! Forgive me, Namjoon, but you’re not exactly a gentleman. Why would I fall for a boy that has a different girl in his bed every day, who plays girls like it’s his job, who’s misogynistic and vulgar and a dog? You don’t get to be such a dick to women and have your best friend fall in love with you, because it doesn’t work that way!’
‘Oh, and Hyunjin isn’t a dick?’ ‘No! He’s sweet, and he’s kind, an-’ ‘You’ve known him for one day, and you’re already rushing upstairs to lose your fucking virginity to him! I thought you’d care more about your first time!’ he shouts, still so judgmental, and I feel myself practically shaking with rage. How dare he behave the way he does and judge me, even though he’s supposedly in love with me? ‘Why do you care who I lose my virginity to?’ ‘Because I’m in love with you! Aren’t you fucking keeping up?’ ‘No, Namjoon, you’re not in love with me. If you were, you’d be happy that I’m happy. Instead you’re possessive and judgemental and douchey!’ We’re shouting at each other now, and anyone outside will be able to hear, but I don’t care. Let them hear how much of a dick he is. ‘I loved who you were, when-’ ‘When what? When boys didn’t talk to me? When you and Jackson were the only boys I spoke to at parties? When I was pure, untouched, innocent? Now, you’re annoyed, because I’m not who you thought I was. I don’t owe you anything, Namjoon, because you can’t expect me to have just known.’
‘Just go, y/n,’ he says, all of the anger in him disappearing, and he sounds so tired, looks so tired. And, as always, I feel guilty. ‘Joon-’ ‘No. Please, just go,’ he says, and when he looks up at me, my heart breaks. His eyes are full of tears, sadness, hurt, but the second they land on mine, they’re filled with love, too. Love that I can’t reciprocate because, he might be my best friend, but he is disgusting to girls. And I can’t love that. I can’t love him. ‘Okay. I’ll go,’ I whisper, turning away and leaving his room before I burst into tears.

Babysitter - David Dobrik
an: babysitter!reader used to watch ester, sara, and toby she was a few years younger than david. okay y’all i’m sorry, but for this to work i kinda had to make them a bit younger than they actually are in real life… whatever lol it’s a story anyway
~
“Are you sure you don’t mind?” Mrs. Dobrik asks.
“Not at all. Plus, it’ll be good to go out there and see Dave and Natalie. It’ll be great, I promise.”
Mrs. Dobrik is sending me along with the rest of them to visit David in Los Angeles and attend the Streamys. I haven’t watched the girls in years, but she was worried about them traveling alone. Ester practically lost it when she threatened to go with, I was the compromise.
“Ready?” I ask, turning to see Ester and Sara coming down the stairs, suitcases in hand.
“Yeah.” They smile, still on the quiet side. It’s been a few years since I watched them, but we’ve stayed in touch. I never had younger siblings, and these girls are definitely the closest thing I’ve ever had. It’s been a little while since I’ve been back here. It was a lot of tears from Ester and Sara when I graduated and left to go to college. David even came back home to see me graduate, which was surprising.
“Are you guys excited to get all dressed up?” I ask, we finally take our seats to board the plane. I am planted in the middle where both girls could be satisfied by sitting next to me.
“Yeah, mom let me get a new dress and everything!”
We talk for the first hour of the flight, catching up on the things that we didn’t on facetime. After that, we all put in headphones and try to catch up on some sleep, our flight is getting in late.
“Alright, I texted Natalie and they should be picking us up at our gate.” I look down at my phone reading over our messages.
“David!” Sara tears off once she sees the familiar Tesla with their brother standing outside. Ester walks with me at a normal pace, rolling her eyes at her younger sister. I nudge her shoulder with a smile.
“Wow, someone looks excited to be here.” David teases, pulling her in for a hug.
“She was talking the whole flight about how excited she was, now she needs to play it cool.” I laugh.
“Y/n.” She huffs, making us all laugh a little harder.
“Hi, Y/n.” David says, pulling me in for a hug.
“Thanks for flying me in.” I grin, I reach behind him to pull Natalie in for a hug too.
“Thanks for dealing with these two demons for a whole flight.” David reaches out to ruffle both of their hair.
The ride to David’s house is nice, the car filled with conversation catching us up on each other’s lives.
“How’s school going?” David asks, looking at me in his rearview mirror.
“Really good. One more semester to go.” I grin thinking about how I’ll finally have my degree and I’m free to be done with school.
“That’s crazy, I feel like we were just going to your high school graduation.” Natalie says.
“Shut up.” I roll my eyes, “I was only two years behind you guys.”
It’s always been this dynamic. They’ve always teased me for being younger than them. We make it to the house, the girls are sharing a room and I’m crashing with Natalie for the entire stay. We’re both excited though, it makes it like a sleepover again.
The house is unsurprisingly not empty when we get there, plenty of people hanging out in the living room and the kitchen.
“Hey!” They all cheer as we walk in the door.
“You guys have probably all met my sisters before.” David points to them.
“I didn’t know you had three.” A man comments, I’m pretty sure his name is Jeff.
“God no, Y/n isn’t a sister.” David shakes his head.
“She is to us.” Sara punches his shoulder making me smile. I send her a wink which makes her smile.
“I just mean she’s not related to our family. She’s their babysitter.”
“And our friend.” Natalie chimes in.
“Hi, I’m Y/n.” I wave looking over the group.
“Wait, so this is the Y/n you talk about from high school?” Jason asks.
David simply nods.
“I didn’t think you actually existed! After all of our trips to Chicago over the years we met everyone from David’s past.
“I was busy at school!” I smile, “Plus, if I’m not going to get a car, what’s the point in going anyway.”
The group laughs and it’s easy to blend in with them. They’re a good group of people and we talk for a while and it proves how great they are, I don’t even know how long we’ve been out here.
“We’re gonna go to bed.” Ester suddenly gets up, a sleepy Sara at her side.
“Okay.” I get up to follow them.
“They aren’t that little. They can tuck themselves in.” David laughs.
“You know it freaks out Sara when she’s sleeping somewhere that her mom isn’t. She always needs someone to stay awake with her until she falls asleep.”
No one comments after that they just move on to another topic. I go in and they’ve both changed and Ester is already under the covers trying to fall asleep.
“You can go back out there, Y/n.” Sara states, crossing her arms over her chest.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“I’m big enough to go to bed by myself.” She tucks herself in and turns her body to face away from me. I’m sure she feels embarrassed by what happened in front of everyone earlier.
“I’m not here for you! I’m going to bed too!” Before either girl gets a second to think, I jump on the bed laying between the two of them.
“What are you doing?” Ester turns to look at me.
“Getting comfortable.” I close my eyes and nuzzle in to get more comfortable.
“I’m serious, Y/n.” Sara mumbles into her pillow, still not bothering to look at me.
“I am too!” I start to fake snore and before I know it we’re all laughing. I pull them both in close for a hug. Sara, finally smiling again both girls are curled in towards me as we talk quietly and laugh.
“Hey, I just wanted to say goodnight.” David peeks his head in the door, “What’s going on?”
“We’re going to bed.” I grin.
“You’re not even under the covers.” He states.
“That’s beside the point.”
“We’re all cuddling.” Ester laughs.
“Oh, I just wanted to tell you guys night.” David starts to turn back out the door.
“Where are you going?” Sara asks, she gestures for him to join us.
“What?”
“Like Ester said, we’re all cuddling.”
David raises his brows and I shrug. Before giving is much thought, David climbs on top of the bed too, most of his weight uncomfortably directed on to me.
“You know, you’re heavier than you look Dobrik.” I groan.
“Whatever.” He doesn’t even bother lifting his head up from my neck.
We stay like that for a while, talking quietly, telling stories. My leg starts to go numb, but it’s warm and cozy enough I can ignore it. After we’re all quiet for a while I can hear Sara’s breathing change. Ester’s been out for a while, she’s unbothered by sleeping in a new environment.
“Dave.” I whisper.
“Hmm?”
“I need you to get up as softly as you can.”
It takes some time and some careful maneuvering, but David gets up without disturbing either of the girls. I pull my arms gently from under the girls heads, David gives me a hand to pull me off the bed.
I follow him out and turn off the lights behind me.
“Wow, where did everyone go?” I ask.
“I hinted that everyone should get going before I went in with you guys.” David answers, pausing to yawn.
“Oh, well then good night I guess.”
“Yeah, I know that Natalie is already out for sure.” David comments. “She was so tired earlier, she had a bad headache.”
“Shit, I still need to my stuff. There’s no way that I won’t wake her up if I go in there right now.” I look down at my jeans and tee shirt. Not exactly what I had been hoping to sleep in. Right about now, I’m wishing I hadn’t put my suitcase in her room.
“I have clothes you can borrow. I have too many clickbait sweatshirts.” He smiles.
“Yeah, that’d be great actually.”
I follow him to his room, he disappears into his closet. I look around the room that I’ve seen in video, but never in person.
“Here.” He hands me a stack of clothes, I turn to walk back to the living room muttering a thank you over my shoulder, “Can I be honest?”
His words catch me before I make it to the door, I turn back around to look at him.
“Always.”
“That couch is awful for sleeping on. It’s fluffy and nice, but it’ll kill your neck by the morning.”
“So what do you suggest I do?”
“You can sleep in here.” He gestures to the bed behind him. His bed.
“Dave-”
“It’s not weird, I promise. I just want to crash. I’m sure you’re tired, you had a long flight.”
I nod and debate back and forth in my head. Isn’t it weird though?
“Sure.” I nod, it seems more weird now to say no because that would mean I had a reason to say no.
“Okay, good.” He lets out a sigh, “I’m just going to get ready for bed.” He walks into his bathroom and shuts the door behind him.
As quickly as I can, I change into the sweatshirt and a pair of shorts. Just in time, David swings the door back open. He’s changed too now.
“I have a spare toothbrush on the counter if you want to-”
“Yes please!” I laugh, I brush my teeth and think this over in my head. There’s no way to get out of this now without it being weird. I put the toothbrush back before walking back out to the bedroom. David is settled on his side of the bed laying on his back, I walk over to the other half.
I set my phone on the nightstand and peel back the covers before sliding in. I face the wall, I can almost feel David’s eyes on me.
“Goodnight.”
“Night.” He calls back, a few seconds later the lights turn off. After that we both settle in a little more. It’s as if the lights are off and we feel ten times more comfortable. It shouldn’t be this weird, we just cuddled in a different bed for like an hour. Sharing a bed with inches between us shouldn’t be this hard.
It has to be the tension. There’s always been something I could never place, it’s just when we’re alone together. David’s cute, anyone can see that, but he’s always been so much more.
Several more minutes pass, still both of us wide awake. I was hoping he would be right and we would both just crash instantly. I flip to my other side, hoping it to be more comfortable, but it proves to be a big mistake when I become practically nose to nose with him.
I don’t know how, but being that much closer is a lot warmer. I can faintly feel his breath fanning across my cheek. Almost ask quick as I turned, I manage to crash.
The feeling of a heavy arm on my waist wakes me up hours later. I peel my eyes open, the sun is up in the corner of the window. I look around to see I’m tucked fully in David’s arms. I’m not sure if scooted on to his side of the bed, or if he pulled me there.
As gently as I can, I lift David’s arm and manage to slip out with grace. I walk to the kitchen to get a glass of water. It doesn’t seem like anyone else is up yet in the house, it’s almost nine. I take a seat at the tall table by the patio. The view from here has to be one of the best I’ve ever seen.
I hear the shuffling of feet and my head snaps in the direction.
“Did I wake you?” I ask, looking over my shoulder to him.
“I haven’t slept with anyone in my bed for a long time. I noticed you absent as soon as you left.”
His cheeks light up with a pink blush. He grabs himself a bottle of water and joins me at the table.
“When did you become their favorite?” David asks, dumbfounded, suddenly referring to the girls.
“I’ve always been.” I tease, “You’ve always been Toby’s favorite.”
“I knew there was a reason why he was my favorite sibling.” He continues, “You know so much about them.”
“I’ve just spent a lot of time with them. It’s nothing special.” I try to diminish the thought for him. He’s never admitted it, but I know that it hurts him that he’s not there to witness his siblings grow up as much anymore.
“You go to school away from them, you see them just as little as I do and yet you know so much. You’re so involved in their lives.”
“You could be too.” I remind.
“I know, I know.” He shakes his head, looking down.
“They love you so much.” I reach out my hand to place on top of his, “I know you think they’re distant, but they just take some warming up. You’re their big brother, you’re so important to them!”
“Y/n.” He suddenly looks up, his face inching closer and closer. I can feel myself leaning in as well. Tension building. Lips parting.
“I’m back!” Natalie cheers, she walks in the front door. She looks like she just came back from the gym, neither of us knew she even left.
“Hey.” We both yell back.
“I’m gonna go grab the girls for some breakfast.” I state, suddenly getting up from the table.
What was I just about to do?
“Y/n, wait-”

Never Enough - Chapter 13
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 13 DESCRIPTION: Certain mates of Jotuns receive soulmate marks on their bodies. What happens when Loki’s mark is found on a girl with immense power? RATING: M NOTES/WARNINGS: Hope you guys like the Arab culture I brought into this story. My culture and heritage is notoriously left out of Hollywood films and shows, so I thought to represent it here for you all.
TAGGED: @kneel-before-queen-loki @lokis-girl-in-mischief @tarithenurse @fangirls94 @hellofeysandarling
“You oaf!” Loki snapped. “Why are you spying on us?”
Loki was fuming beside me, angry that his brother had interrupted a very intimate moment. I, on the other hand, was still trying to suppress giggles locked in my throat.
The moon was shining on all of us, and Thor’s expressions came into sight. He was overjoyed, but I didn’t understand why. Neither did Loki it seemed.
“JARVIS had alarmed me that both you and Dana had snuck out of the compound,” he explained, smirking. “It was only by the grace of the gods that I came upon the scene that I did!”
At that I chuckled. Loki glared at me, embarrassed and enraged that this was happening at that very moment.
“And why is this such a joyous thing for you, Thor?” I teased, ignoring Loki gripping my hand a little firmer to signal me to stop.
“Because my brother is finally happy!”
Loki stopped and dropped his grip on me. He was shocked to hear Thor say such a thing in a casual tone as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. It sunk in on him. His brother wasn’t here to humiliate him or cause trouble; he was excited to see his brother find something for himself.
Thor looked between the two of us, realizing his bad timing then. “Uh…” he mumbled, “I shall leave and inform JARVIS it was nothing. Goodnight brother, Dana.” Bowing his head to me, he left through the bushes he came and left us by ourselves once more.
I laughed a bit awkwardly at the silence that followed and wrapped myself back up into my blanket. “Well I guess it’s not a secret,” I joked.
“He won’t say a word,” he responded. “He knows what’s at stake, especially with Stark watching our every move.”
“You know about that?” I was amazed he figured it out so quickly.
Loki smirked. “Darling, that man is anything but subtle.”
I couldn’t argue on that. I mean, Tony did come out and say he was Iron Man on day one. He didn’t have a talent for keeping things on the downlow.
“Besides, that’s why I asked you out here and away from all his cameras. I wanted us to be unwatched and undisturbed.” He hissed the last word and glared at the spot from where Thor had hidden.
“Better luck next time then,” I teased, watching him circle the area.
He smiled at me. Not his usual self-satisfying smirk, but a genuine smile. I had no choice but to reciprocate it as the smile appeared of its own freewill.
“Will there be a next time?” His brows were raised. Loki looked so young there, waiting to be accepted or rejected, vulnerability spread across his face. I had never seen it before.
“Well,” I started, watching his face drop. “I don’t think my body gives me much of a choice now, does it?” I raised my wrist to him, and my mark showed through the light from the lantern.
A grin spread across his face before it disappeared again to his usual intense gaze. “Why did you not tell me before?”
“Because you’re you!” I exclaimed. “I’m a mere mortal, and you’re a god. I didn’t think it possible.”
“Neither did I.”
“What?”
Loki laughed. “I may be a god, little one, but I am a god with many lives and much blood on my hands. I have… done things.”
I walked up to him determinedly. When I reached him, I grabbed his hand and held it in my hand. I let his ice-cold skin take over my senses. I wanted to feel him.
“Well, big one,” I teased, getting him to chuckle, “we have all done such things. I am no angel myself.”
Loki intertwined his fingers with mine, and the cold melted inside my veins. “You are an angel to me, little one.”
“An angel of death, perhaps.” I smirked at him, our faces inches away from each other.
“Chaos and destruction,” he murmured. “A perfect pair are we not?”
~~~~~~~~~
I had slept in way late that next morning, having spent most of the night talking with Loki. We decided the first step was to get to know each other, how we really are, not how people think we are. He recalled his past in Asgard and his true heritage.
I told him about my childhood: my parents, my siblings, my interests, and my powers. He didn’t pry into my full abilities, instead letting me tell him what I wanted. The truth was I didn’t know my full capabilities. After numerous disastrous and deadly occasions, I’ve been too afraid to test it out. Not like Tony would allow me to anyways.
Having skipped breakfast completely, I made myself some lunch in the kitchen. It was empty in the living room. I wondered where everybody had went or what I missed.
I had taken my bracelet off and was tracing the lines of the pattern. Loki walked into the room then, smiling at me.
“Is it usual for you to sleep the day away?”
I rolled my eyes before getting up and putting my dishes in the sink. “It is not, but when I have someone keeping me up all night then yes, it can get normal.”
I turned around and leaned back against the counter. “Where is everyone?”
“Most have left for Germany, though others are simply at your nation’s capital.”
“Why? Has something happened?”
Loki shrugged and stepped over to me. “All they said was that an alien presence was spotted in Germany. Not sure if it’s an ally or enemy.”
I nodded. Guess they didn’t need me, or Loki. “They weren’t going to wake you,” he said as if he read my mind. “Besides it could be dangerous.”
“Then why are you here?” I crossed my arms across my chest to keep some distance between me and his icy skin.
“Because I would be more of a liability than an asset on a mission such as this, especially if the invader proves to be an enemy of mine which is pretty likely.”
That’s true.
“So, it’s just me and you then?”
Loki grinned widely at that. He closed the distance and put his cold lips on my warm ones. I wrapped my hands around his neck to pull him closer, and I could feel Loki smiling at my actions. Our bodies fit perfectly with each other like this. There was no denying that this was… otherworldly.
Suddenly, my mark burned up again.
“Ah,” I gasped at the intense sensation. I gripped my wrist, exclaiming, “Holy shit, it keeps burning.”
Loki’s eyes were full of concern at my sudden reaction. He touched above my burning mark, studying it before taking my arm in both of his hands. He recited an incantation in some foreign language, and then, a green light appeared from his hands and covered my mark.
It took a few moments, but soon my pain was alleviated.
“What did you do?” I asked in awe. The burning that had plagued me for some time was now gone.
“I simply told it that you had found me,” he whispered, his wide green eyes staring into my brown ones. “A simple spell that lets it know we have found each other.”
Woah. “How did you know to do that?” I exclaimed.
Loki took my wrist and gently kissed the tender mark, his chilly lips feeling heavenly on my warm flesh. “Jotuns are known to be bound to one another by insignias such as this. I remember reading about it back when I was studying Jotunheim and their culture. It seems that it has touched a mortal as well.”
“How?”
Loki shrugged, eyes narrowing in concentration. “I simply don’t know. I’ve never known for such a bond to afflict a Midgardian before.”
I gazed at his face and watched as his eyebrows would shoot up when he was thinking hard about something. His eyes would flit back and forth as if he was reading a book.
It took him some time to realize I had been watching him carefully, but he didn’t seem to mind. His eyes lit up with amusement. “What are you looking at, little one?”
“Oh nothing,” I uttered as I wrapped my hands back around his neck, “just staring at you, hayati.”
He looked touched. “Hayati?”
“It means my life in Arabic.” I blushed. “But you knew that already since the Bifrost lets you speak Allspeak. Thor told me.”
Loki laughed at my callout. “Yes, that is true dear, but I wanted to hear you say it.”
With that, his lips claimed mine once more.
It’s a hard life - Part 10 (Roger Taylor x reader)
Summary: you meet Roger’s family (and some person from his past too) and you understand why he wanted you to wait to do “things” with him till that weekend.
Warnings: mentions of sex but not as such, fluff everywhere as always
Words: 1.6 K more or less
Notes: Hiii! I know it’s been so long but I’ve been busy, sorry! I want to dedicate this chapter to @natromanxoff because if I still write this is because of her as she is the one who inspires me to write it. I want to say that I’ve change some things of the previous one because I think it fits better like this. I hope you like it and thanks for still reading my things, it means a lot as you know! Like/rb or comment if you like it (please) 💛
“Aw, it’s that you, Rog?”
“Unfortunately, yes”
“You look adorable!”
“If you say so…”
Once you finished all the food that his mother made, that was a lot, she insisted on showing you old photos of Roger for his torture. You were looking now to a very young Roggie, dressing up as an egyptian.
“He was very cute and sweet when he was younger and look at him now” Clare said, making you laugh.
“Hey!” He made an offended look but you knew he wasn’t even angry. “Don’t laugh!” And he pinched your side softly.
“Sorry” You said still laughing and then you planted a little kiss on his cheek.
“Aww” You heard Clase suddenly.
“What?” The drummer asked.
“Nothing… It’s only that you look really adorable together to be honest”
“Certainly” Their mother added.
You both turned red at the comments and he passed an arm around you, getting closer to you.
All of a sudden, the doorbell rang.
“I’ll go!” Clare said.
You were looking at more photos, not knowing that a storm was coming.
“Rog!”
“Jo?”
You raised your eyes from the album to see a beautiful smiling girl entering the room. In a heartbeat Roger was hugging her and both their mother and their sister were looking at you with a concerned look in their faces.
“I thought you were in London”
“I was but I heard that a certain boy was going to play here with his band and I couldn’t resist to come”
“That’s nice!” He then realized that you were looking at the scene without understanding what was going on and got away from her. “Look, Jo… This is my friend [y/n]”
Friend? I am your girlfriend, you dumbass.
“Oh, hi! Nice to meet you. I am also a friend of Roggie, well… technically I’m his ex-girlfriend” She said patting his back.
Ex-girlfriend? Oh, now I understand…
“Hi” You simply said too shy and too angry to say anything else.
Clare noticed and tried to do something. “Roger, can you come with me to the kitchen, please?”
“Why?”
“Just do it” He ordered, dedicating an angry look to her brother.
“Alright… I’ll come back in a second” He said to both of you before disappearing to the kitchen.
You stayed there quiet while Jo and Roger’s mother were talking.
“It’s nice to meet you in person, Jo”
“It’s nice to meet you too! I’ve always wanted to come but Roger always seemed to have an excuse”
“Ah, yes…”
So, it was true that you were the first girlfriend Roger decided to introduce to his family apparently but you didn’t understand why he didn’t tell her that you were his actual girlfriend... Did he still feel something for that girl? Why if now that she was there you didn’t matter anymore? Why if-?
“[y/n]? My brother needs you at the kitchen”
“Me?”
“Yes, he has done something wrong and needs you there to mend it” She said, winking at you.
You stood up and went to talk with Roger. As soon as you entered the room, Roger wrapped you in a hug.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry” He started to whisper while he was placing little kisses in your head. “Are you mad at me?”
You lift your head to look directly to his eyes. “Do you still love her?”
“What? No!”
“And then why didn’t you tell her that I am your girlfriend”
“Because I didn’t want to hurt her… Look…” He took your head between his hands. “I know she still loves me because she has been sending me letters since we broke up, but I promise that the feeling is not mutual. I loved her a lot to be sincere but not as much as I love you, [y/n]”
“Sure?”
“I am more than sure, my love. I’ve never been even closer to feel what I feel now for you… Never”
You couldn’t do anything but smile and kiss him, and he immediately relaxed and hugged you again.
“I panicked for a minute because she’s so beautiful and I-”
He didn’t allow you to continue by kissing your lips once more. “I wouldn’t change you for anything or anybody, understand? You are the most beautiful, intelligent and kid girl I have ever met” A tear started running down your cheek. “Hey… Don’t cry, honey”
“How do you expect me not to cry when you say those things about me?” You reply both crying and laughing.
He smiled and kissed your front. “I love you”
“Love you too, Rog” And you hugged him strongly.
“Let’s come back, my sister never liked Jo and I don’t know what could happen now that she is already mad with me”
When you arrive to the dining room there was no sign of Jo.
“She left because she had things to do”
“And because your lovely sister has told her that you are happier than ever now that [y/n] is in your life and that if you decided to introduce [y/n] instead of her to us it was for something”
“Yeah, that too”
“Well, it’s the true after all” Roger said, smiling at you. “But next time be more gentle”
“As if I could” She said making you all to laugh. “I didn’t like her when I spied you when you were talking to her on the phone”
“Can I ask why?”
“You can but I am not going to answer”
“Right…” He smiled. “Well, [y/n] and I are tired so we are going to go to sleep”
“Is she going to sleep in your room or shall I prepare the sofa, dear?”
“She is going to sleep with me mum, so don’t worry”
“Alright” And she winked at her son.
“Goodnight to you two” Your blonde said.
“Goodnight, and thank you for everything” You said too, trying to be as nice as possible.
“Goodnight, lovers” Clare reply with a smirk on his face.
“Goodnight, my angel” Roger’s mum said while kissing sweetly his cheek. “And goodnight to you too, sweetheart” And she kissed you too.
You followed Roger upstairs to his room. When you enter, it was as you imagined it would be. The walls were full of posters of Jimi Hendrix, drum kits, cars… and there was a shelving full of vinyls.
“What do you think?” He asked you, hugging you from behind.
“It’s definitely how I imagined it”
“I am very predictable, aren’t I?” He laughed. “Let’s lay down for a bit, there’s a story I want to tell you”
You did as told and lay down on his bed, he followed you. He passed an arm around your neck and you placed your head on his shoulder, one of your hands resting on his chest.
He seemed nervous and you became nervous too because of it.
“I am going to sound like an idiot right now but here I go… When I was younger, I don’t know exactly how old, me and my friends used to fantasize about dating girls and have sex for the first time and all of that shit, you know”
“Yeah...”
“So… They used to say that… Shit, this is so embarrassing!”
“C’mon, Rog! You’re making me nervous! What happened?”
“Be patient, love”
“More?” You teased.
“You’re going to regret those words later, honey”
“More is only one word”
“I… I hate you sometimes” He said while laughing.
“No, you don’t” You reply, laughing too.
“No, I don’t. But the thing is that my friends used to talk about their first experiences with girls and all that stuff and started to say that now every time they laid on their beds could revive those moments and I… I didn’t want that”
“You didn’t want to shag girls in your bed?” You were very lost and didn’t know where that story was going to go.
“I just want to do it in my bed with the right girl”
“Oh… That’s very romantic, Rog”
He was red as a tomato. “I know… I used to be like that… Disgusting” You both laughed again. “And then I promised myself that if I ever found that girl, I would make love to her here”
“And did the girl appeared?”
“To my surprise… Yes”
“And who was she?”
“You”
“What?!”
“I’ve never done it here, [y/n]”
You were in shook, incapable of doing or saying anything and trying to process what was happening.
“And, to be honest, I thought I was never going to do it… But then you arrived to my life and all changed. The little romantic boy appeared again and, although I wanted to make love to you since the moment I enter that bus for you to cure my fingers, I knew it had to be here. You are the one I made that promise for” He turned a little bit to face you, his hand taking yours now. “You are my one, [y/n]”
“Roger… I- I-” You weren’t capable of forming words. You look at his eyes and they were so sincere, so pure. Your only possible reaction was to kiss him as sweet and passionate as you could, trying to let him know with it that your feelings were the same. That this was a dream for you too and you didn’t want to wake up.
“I can’t believe that you just said that”
“I can’t believe neither” He smiled at you. “Didn't I sound like a complete idiot?”
“No, no, no… That was so cute, Rog…”
“Is that a yes then?”
“To what?”
“To have sex with me tonight”
“Do you really have to ask that after all?” You started giggling like idiots. “This is really happening, right?”
“Yes, love. Too good to be true, right?”
You simply kissed him again. But this time was more heated, specially when he grabbed you ass strongly and moved you so that you were on top of him.
And suddenly nothing else mattered… Only you and Roger and the moment you and him wanted to share for so long.
Whatever It Takes
Pairing: Isaak Andreyev x reader
Warnings: injury, death mentions, little bit of mild language
A/N: I did a bad thing. Okay so the end is very angsty and I cried while writing it. I got carried away writing this and whacked it out in literally 2 days which is impressive as shit for me especially considering I worked all day everyday 😂 you can partially blame Michelle for giving me the idea for some slightly...shall we say...warped Grisha powers buuut it may have hurt more if I’d kept it to my original plan. look I don’t wanna spoil anything much so just read it if my angel Isaak is someone you’re interested in. Also if you want to potentially cry a bit like I did then when you get to the KoS party listen to “Say Something” by A Great Big World, “I’ll Never Love Again” by Molly Hocking, and/or “Human” by Christina Perri. Enjoy!
When Nikolai first assigned Isaak as one of my personal guards a few years ago I never imagined we'd end up here. He should have just been one more face in the sea of people I saw daily but he caught my attention from the moment I met him standing guard outside my bedroom. He was cute. Quiet and unassuming for the most part. Younger than I'd expected. I didn't usually take note of the details but something about the way his hair fought the neat style he'd been going for to curl at his neck and behind his ears had me momentarily entranced.
"Ah, (Y/N), allow me to introduce your newest guard, Captain Andreyev. Your brother chose him specially, he thinks you'll get along well," Garik, another of my guards, said as he saw me standing in the doorway.
"Does he now? Tell me Captain, do you like to have fun? Real fun." A hesitant nod. "You like reading?" A more confident nod. "Nikolai assign you rather than vasily?" Another nod. "Excellent. I'd have to have you re-assigned otherwise." He looked startled and I grinned.
"Something you should learn quickly, Andreyev, don't take much of what she says seriously."
"Excuse me, Garik, that's your princess you're talking about," I sassed.
"I apologise, please forgive me Princess." He smirked as I physically cringed.
"Okay I brought that one on myself, don't do that again." I turned back to Isaak. "Second thing you should learn, I'm not a fan of titles. Too stuffy and I like to think we're all the same at the core. So, Captain, do you have a first name I can call you instead?"
He still seemed thoroughly confused by how the morning had turned out for him but he looked happier about it than most that got assigned to me. "Isaak, ...your highness, ...my name's Isaak."
"What did I say about titles, Isaak?" I teased. "From now on it's just (Y/N), Okay?"
"Yes, your highne-(Y/N). Sorry, I'll get better at that." I studied him for a moment with a smile.
"I like you, I think Nikolai was right. ...Don't ever tell him I said that, I'll never hear the end of it." I looked over to Garik. "I mean it. I'll have your head before I give him a reason to be smug." I felt Isaak tense beside me and couldn't hold back a chuckle as I addressed him again. "I'm kidding...mostly. You'll get used to it eventually, right Garik?"
"She's lying, run while you still can."
"Stop it, you'll scare him off. Honestly Isaak, you have nothing to worry about. Nikolai gave you the best job in the palace. I'm, as my parents put it, 'Too laid back for my own good' but that's their fault for having me last. I mean what's the point in learning how to run the country when I never will? Anyway, we have fun, you'll see."
They escorted me to breakfast and then I spent the rest of the day in the library, very definitely not avoiding the tutor who's work I hadn't bothered to do. By the end of the day Isaak finally seemed to feel at ease and even started to appreciate my particular sense of humour.
He was kind and sweet and very funny when he was comfortable and relaxed and I found myself really enjoying his company. I hoped he'd stick around, if only so I could see his crooked smile again.
"Saints it's late!" I exclaimed after glancing at the clock. "I'm so sorry, you can go and sleep. From now on you have my permission to tell me to shut up whenever you need. You don't have to listen to me prattle on for hours, it's not in your job description." He chuckled and the sound was possibly the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. I wanted to make it happen again. A lot.
"No need, I enjoy listening to you talk. You're a very interesting person." He smiled shyly and I felt my cheeks heat slightly at the compliment.
"Thank you. I recommend you do stop me on occasion though, for your own good."
"I'll keep it in mind. Until tomorrow." He bowed.
"No bowing!" I scolded but a laugh interrupted it as Isaak lifted his head and I saw the cheeky grin plastered on his face. "Saints, Garik's already rubbed off on you. There really is no hope." He chuckled again and I mentally cheered.
"Goodnight (Y/N), sleep well."
"Good night Isaak."
*
It was two years full of repressed feelings, late night talks, and silent but companionable afternoons reading before anything happened between us. True to form, it was more than a little unorthodox.
Isaak had been injured protecting me during the Darkling's attack on the palace and when he'd finally awoken at the Spinning Wheel I hadn't even hesitated to kiss him.
"If I knew all I had to do to get you to kiss me was almost die, I'd have done it a long time ago." He smiled and I couldn't help but smile back as I sat back and entangled our fingers.
"You know you could have just done it yourself whenever you wanted."
"Considering boys like me aren't supposed to be with girls like you, I don't think I could have."
"You should know better than most that I'm just another girl. A normal girl who fell in love with a normal boy. A title can't change that."
"I know you don't care about that stuff but your title makes you second in line to rule. You may not like it and neither do I but there's things people expect from you."
"What if I don't want this life though?" I practically whispered. "What if I want to make my own choices? What if I want to choose you?"
"(Y/N)..."
"This life ruins everything. It's full of war and hard decisions, it takes away your freedom to be who you're meant to be, and eventually it kills you. Like it killed Vasily." It was silent for a moment. I'd never told anyone about the way I felt and I was worried it might change things. Who was I to complain? I'd had everything but here I was unsatisfied with life. It probably seemed beyond selfish to someone like Isaak who had lived with so very little. "I'm sorry, I-"
"It's okay, you're allowed to be unhappy. ...Do you want to talk about him? ...about what happened?"
"I...I don't know... I was never as close to Vasily as I am to Nikolai but...he was still my brother and I loved him." I felt my eyes start to water and tried to wipe away the tears before they could fall. "He was foolish and kind of an asshole sometimes but he didn't deserve to die like that. I miss him…" The last part was barely louder than a breath and I couldn't keep back the tears any longer.
Isaak had held me while I cried and done so again and again whenever I'd needed him.
By some miracle we survived the war and, without the looming threat to our lives and our country, decided to give a relationship a proper chance. It was everything I'd wanted and more. All my firsts were his and it wasn't long before I knew I wanted all my lasts to be as well. Everything was great until Nikolai disappeared.
We'd had to put his contingency plan in action and Isaak had been far too willing to step up.
"Face it, I'm the best option. I know Nikolai well enough now and I've got you to help." He said when we all met to discuss options.
"I still don't think it's going to work. Can we not explain his absence another way?" I countered
"Not without both Nikolai and Ravka seeming vulnerable." Tamar pointed out. "You could probably handle a lot of the important state matters but it won't be enough. I think Isaak is our best bet."
"It's not ideal to be doing this on so little preparation but he's right. He knows Nikolai enough and you can keep an eye on him easily. With you his sister, no one will question it." Genya made a good point. If he wasn't completely alone we might be able to pull it off.
"Alright, let's do it then."
"I won't let you down," Isaak promised. "When do we start?"
"Now." "Tomorrow." Tamar and I said at the same time.
"Isn't it better to start sooner?" She asked.
"Well...yes. But he's going to start looking like my brother soon and there's no way I can kiss him or anything when he's like that. Give me one more day with him, it won't hurt."
"Okay, we'll get started in the morning then. You two enjoy your last bit of time together." Genya grinned, waggling her eyebrows suggestively, and I felt my cheeks heat in response.
"What she said." Tamar agreed. "Just keep it quiet, I don't need to hear it."
"...And on that note, we'll be going now. See you all tomorrow." I took Isaak's hand and pulled him out of the room. "Well that was embarrassing."
"Thought you'd be used to it by now."
"So did I. You're sure you want to do this?"
"I'm sure. If it helps you and Nikolai, I'll do anything."
"You're amazing you know."
"So you keep telling me." He grinned.
"Only because it's true. Now come here." I reached up to slide my arms around his neck and pull him into a kiss. He returned it eagerly as his hands came to rest on my waist. I ran my tongue over his bottom lip and he instinctively opened his mouth to me, deepening the kiss and moving to pull me closer.
A throat being cleared close by had us jumping away from each other to find Tamar standing there.
"I know I said I don't need to hear it but I didn't think I had to specify that I also don't need to see it." She raised a brow at us. "Get a room. Preferably before you cause a scene." And she walked away without another word.
"She makes a good point. The room I had here is unoccupied and much closer than the palace," I suggested.
"Lead the way then."
*
The next few weeks were a whirlwind and I was barely able to catch a break between teaching Isaak and helping run the country, and then parties and meetings and girls who wouldn't stop asking me about my brother. But finally it was coming to an end. All our guests would be leaving soon and I could finally get at least a little peace and quiet. There was just one more thing to handle first. Princess Ehri.
She'd been the focus of a lot of our attention since she'd arrived. Tamar had wanted to figure out if one of her guards would defect so we'd found excuses for Isaak to spend time with her and get close. He thought she might know something and be persuaded to tell...if they were alone. Which was why at Isaak's covert signal I'd slipped away from the party and followed them here.
I watched closely from a spot in the bushes and prayed Isaak wasn't wrong about her. It was a risk but when he'd told me what he intended to do I hadn't been able to deny how much like Nikolai it would be. So we'd gone ahead with it. Without any protection.
It was hard to watch the two of them so close together, made my stomach churn unpleasantly. Even though he looked like my brother I still knew it was him and I wasn't afraid to admit that seeing him with another girl made me jealous.
I heard rustling beside me and turned to find Nikolai, the real Nikolai, crouching there.
"Hi trouble."
"Nikolai...saints...you're back, you're alive." I threw my arms around him and buried my face in his shoulder, tears starting to fall from my eyes.
"Oh sweetheart don't cry." He squeezed me back tightly and I felt like I could finally breathe again. "You're going to ruin my shirt."
"You ass," I mumbled, the edge of anger in my voice getting lost in the fabric of his shirt. "You stupid, reckless, irresponsible, mad, pirating, ass!"
"I'm happy to see you too. But what exactly are you doing hiding in the bushes?" We finally let go of each other and I was pleased to notice I hadn't been the only one crying.
"Keeping an eye on Isaak." I pointed at the window and watched Nikolai's eyes widen comically is he caught sight of his doppelganger.
"You actually tried that insane plan?"
"We did and it worked like a charm thanks to me." I grinned.
"You know me too well dearest sister, I'm going to have to start keeping secrets." He poked my side and I rolled my eyes as I batted his hand away. "I thought we decided not to use Isaak since you two got together though? It's a dangerous job and I didn't want to risk him."
"I know. He volunteered though and he had the best chance at pulling it off." I'd loathed the thought of having the man I loved put in this position. It had been bad enough knowing my brother's life was in constant danger all our lives, but losing him and putting Isaak at risk as well was painful. Yet another sacrifice I had to make for being born royal.
"Self-sacrificing idiots, the pair of you." Nikolai shook his head fondly.
"That's rich coming from you."
"I am a King, darling, it's my job."
"Is not. Speaking of, did you manage to do it." He knew what I meant without me clarifying, and nodded.
"It's fine, we can talk about it all later-saints, is that a knife!?" I whipped my head round to find Ehri standing way too close to Isaak, a dagger held behind her back. I stood and raced round to the doors but before I could get them open she plunged the dagger into his heart and then turned it on herself. I screamed out as I finally resorted to smashing the glass door when it wouldn't budge.
I scrambled through, cutting myself on the shards that lay around me without feeling the sting. I had to get to Isaak, I had to heal him before it was too late. That was all that mattered.
I dropped to my knees beside him, a hand instinctively going to his chest to start the healing process. It was sticky with blood already and I could feel more and more pouring out every second.
"Isaak, hey, can you hear me? You still with me?" I asked as softly as I could through the tears and sobs that were starting to take over my body. He opened his eyes and looked up at me with a sad smile, somehow finding my free hand and entwining our fingers.
"(Y/N)?"
"I'm here. It's going to be okay, I'm going to make it okay." Even as I said it I wasn't sure it was true. The wound was healing but not fast enough, he was losing too much blood and I couldn't replace it and fix the hole in his chest at the same time.
"I guess I was wrong about her." He said.
"Shhh, don't talk." I dimly registered the sound of doors being thrown open and several sets of footsteps skidding to a halt not far away but then Isaak coughed and I tuned it out. Specks of blood flew from his lips and I felt my heart sink. The vial of Parem I always kept on me sat heavy in my pocket and my fingers twitched with the need to grab it. It was my last hope. The drug could do incredible things and maybe it still wouldn't be enough and maybe it would kill me in the process but Isaak was getting worse and it was my only option. Without it I wasn't going to be able to save him.
He coughed again and there was more blood, staining his lips and trickling from the corners of his mouth. I made up my mind.
"I can't...It's not working," I sobbed.
"'S okay. I love you (Y/N), so much."
"I'm sorry Isaak."
"Don't be sorry, ...you did what you could...I'm not afraid to die." He smiled weakly and reached up a trembling hand to brush away my tears with his thumb.
"No, you're not going to die, that's not why I'm sorry… Im sorry about what I'm going to do to save you."
"(Y/N)...?"
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the small vial of powder, unscrewing it with shaking hands. I was terrified, this might well kill me but I had to try. I couldn't lose Isaak.
"No…" the protest came out as weak as he was but the panic in his eyes was strong and the others noticed.
"I have to."
"(Y/N), what are you doing?" Nikolai took a step towards me and his eyes caught on the vial in my hand. He darted forward and grabbed my wrist before I could take the Parem. "Don't you dare," he yelled. "I won't let you take that."
"It's the only way to save him," I shot back, trying to wrestle my hand from his grasp. I didn't have long before it would be too late.
"(Y/N) you can't, it could kill you," he tried to reason.
"I don't care! I can't heal him like this, I'm not strong enough, but I can do it with Parem."
"I can't let you risk your life." His voice was softer now and I could see the pain in his eyes. I knew I was hurting him and it wasn't fair but I had to do it.
"And I can't let him die. I'm sorry Nikolai." I finally yanked my hand back and swallowed the powder before anyone could stop me.
I could feel myself getting stronger every moment as the Parem flooded my system, everything was more intense, more focused, stronger. I could feel everything. The blood pumping through my friends' veins, the cells multiplying in my body, ...the near lifelessness of Isaak. Every new sensation and detail was a wonder, it felt incredible. Then came a feeling of impending death and I knew where it originated.
I pulled my focus from everything around me and instead set it on Isaak. With barely a thought and in the blink of an eye his wound had closed and he began to take deep, even breaths again. His eyes flickered open as I manipulated his body into replenishing his blood supply, the colour rapidly returning to his face. I breathed a sigh of relief as I felt how very alive and okay he was.
Isaak's hands flew up to his chest as he sat up and his wide eyes flicked over to me when he felt no wound. I smiled and took his hand, my other reaching up to cup his face. It had worked, it had really worked.
"(Y/N)...No...You shouldn't have." He had tears in his eyes, fully-conscious mind registering what I'd done.
"There was no other way." More tears, happy ones this time, slid down my face. "I couldn't watch you die."
"You had better survive this stuff then because I can't watch you die." He pressed a kiss to my palm. "Can you heal her?" He nodded towards Ehri. "We might need her."
I didn't want to, not after she'd almost taken Isaak from me but I did. It was so easy. Nikolai ordered Tolya to bring her to the infirmary and keep an eye on her before coming to kneel beside me. He did not look happy.
"You are in so much trouble when you recover from this. So. Much. Trouble." He looked over to Isaak. "I'm glad you're okay. That was a stupid risk you two took tonight though...clearly you're far too good at being me."
"He is, it's rather disconcerting at times." I grinned but it slipped from my face very quickly as i felt the effects of the drug begin to wane.
"Uh-oh…"
"(Y/N)?" Nikolai placed a hand on my cheek and turned my head to make me meet his concerned eyes. "What's wrong? Talk to me."
"It's fading." I whispered, feeling weaker by the second. Isaak's hand clenched around my own and both he and Nikolai sucked in a breath. We all knew what came next wasn't going to be pretty.
"Listen to me." Isaak's voice was remarkably steady but I could feel his heartbeat and knew it was all show. "You're strong, you can fight it. Nina beat it and so can you. Don't give up." His thumb started rubbing soothing circles on the back of my hand. "I know it's going to be hard and it's going to hurt but we believe in you, you can get through it." I took a deep breath and nodded.
"Okay… you're right...I can do this." Then a thought hit me. "I've got an idea."
Rather than explain I got right to it, I hadn't taken much in the hope it would be easier to recover and I didn't have much time left. I could feel the Parem inside me just as I could feel each cell in my body. I focused on the lingering Parem particles and made my body attack. I knew I'd never get it all but I could try. That was only half the problem though. I could feel the damage the drug had done, how it had altered the chemistry of my mind and body. Injuries like any other. I healed them. ...Well as best I could when having to use the very thing that caused them in the first place.
Finally there was no more I could do. Hopefully I'd given myself a fighting chance but I couldn't be sure. As I felt myself crashing down from the high I ceased my efforts and opened my eyes to gaze into Isaak's for what could be the last time.
"I love you," I said, squeezing his hand in promise. I'd fight. Fight it for him and come back. This wasn't a goodbye.
He opened his mouth to say it back but I collapsed before he could. Darkness and pain engulfed me and the despair they wrought made me want to give up immediately, anything to make it and. But I held tight to the thought of Isaak waiting for me and the silent promise I made. I would face anything to get back to him and be in his arms once more. Fight it he'd said, so I fought.
*
A long while later - what I soon found out had been a week - the fight was finally over. I woke to blinding light and silence but I didn't wake alone. When my body at last felt like my own again and my eyes had adjusted to the soft morning? evening? light I registered two sleeping forms weighing down my bed and trapping my hands.
At some point while the healers and heartrenders had me knocked out, Isaak had been made to look himself again. His curly brown hair was a mess and I longed to run my hand through it again. My fingers twitched against his cheek with the need and I felt Isaak begin to stir at the movement. He lifted his head and our eyes locked. His eyes this time, not my brother's. Saints I'd missed those eyes.
"Well you look terrible," I teased. It was a blatant lie. After weeks of seeing him with Nikolai's face and watching him almost die in front of me, nothing was sweeter than the sight of him alive and himself again.
"I did almost die you know," he grumbled sleepily but couldn't keep a smile off his face.
"That's old news and I almost died right after."
"Yes, and you are in a whole world of trouble for that." I hadn't noticed Nikolai wake up on my other side but at his words I cringed and turned to look at him. He looked awful as well.
"In my defence I didn't actually die...so maybe don't be mad at me?"
"Actually you did. ...(Y/N) do you realise the absolute hell you put us both through this past week? Your heart stopped twice and both times I thought they weren't going to be able to get you back, that I was going to have to watch my baby sister die right in front of me and not be able to do anything to save you. Do you understand how hard that is?" Nikolai had tears in his eyes and the pain of seeing him so undone, having been the one that caused it, gnawed away at my heart.
"I do understand," I said quietly. "It's exactly how I felt when Isaak was dying." I took a steadying breath and squeezed both their hands. This much emotion so soon after waking up was difficult to cope with.
"I know what I did was a stupid risk and you can both lecture me as much as you like about it but let me ask you something first. It might help you understand. Now, I have no idea just how bad I was but you both look like wrecks so it must have been a bit of a horror show. If you'd had the chance to make it better, to stop the pain and help me, would you have done whatever it took?" As I suspected they both nodded without even a moment's hesitation. "Then you can't blame me for doing what I did. I'd do anything, sacrifice everything, to save either one of you. There was nothing you could do for me but there was something I could do for Isaak and I won't ever regret taking that risk. It was worth it." Both of them had started crying and I tugged on their hands to bring them into a hug. "I'm sorry I scared you," I whispered through my own tears.
"We forgive you," Isaak breathed into my shoulder. "Just never, ever do anything like that again."
"I promise." I let them go and they both took seats on the edge of my bed. "So what have I missed? And what happened to you?"
"A lot," Nikolai said simply. "I'll get you caught up later but you should probably know that I'll be marrying Princess Ehri."
"What!? She tried to kill Isaak! ...Or you I guess."
"Not her actually, that was one of the Tavgharad, Mayu."
"That makes a lot of sense actually. I can't believe you're really getting married though."
"Neither can I but we all have to do what's necessary." He paused and the smirk I knew to fear spread across his face. "Speaking of marriage...I expect you two to finally stop putting it off. If almost dying for each other isn't enough to commit then I don't know what is."
"Is that really possible though? I mean, (Y/N)'s a beloved Princess and I'm just a guard." There was so much hope in Isaak's eyes and I could only hope that wouldn't be shattered.
"Also technically he didn't almost die for me, he did that for you. Maybe you should marry him."
"Maybe, we'd make a very attractive a couple." He eyed Isaak jokingly and I poked his chest hard.
"Hands of, I got there first."
"Fine. But I don't think anyone can object to a man who laid down his life for his King. Isaak is a hero and I do believe the Princesses in the stories marry the heroes."
"You're serious?" Nikolai nodded with a grin. "Thank you!"
"There's nothing to thank me for. All I want is for you to be happy and Isaak makes you happy. I'll be damned if something as ridiculous as the circumstances of your births takes that away from you."
"You are the best brother ever."
"I know." He turned to Isaak. "You know you're already like a brother to me now but I'm still warning you. Don't ever do something stupid and dangerous like that again. If you get hurt, that hurts (Y/N) and I refuse to let anything else hurt her again. Understand?"
"Of course."
"Speaking of hurting, everything's okay with your wound right?" I asked Isaak.
"It's fine, I've never felt better actually. You did good, didn't even leave a scar."
"Really?" I couldn't quite believe it somehow and pulled down the collar of his shirt to check. Nothing. Not a mark marred his skin. My fingers idly traced where the dagger had pierced but I could feel as little as I could see. There really was no sign anything had even happened.
"I feel like I shouldn't be seeing this," Nikolai said, averting his eyes.
"Leave then," I said not even bothering to look over at him. And when I pulled Isaak down into a kiss, he did.
I'd missed this. The soft press of Isaak's mouth against mine, the safety I felt wrapped in his arms, the utter surety of every touch. Everything silently saying I love you, I'll never stop loving you. And I'd never stop loving him either. If I had to die a thousand times to keep him beside me it would never be too much.
Fluff.
MASTERLIST
Reader's pov
I was driving to the set of supernatural. We started filming of season 14. As a member of the cast but also of production I had a lot of responsibilities. I had coffee for Richard and Rob. I was almost there when my phone ring.
“Oh, come on!” I laughed for my self. I wasn't mad or something.
I press a screen next to the wheel. “Yes,” I asked.
“Hi, this is Jared are you at work already?” I heard my friend throw the radio in my car.
“No, I am not. Why?” I kept asking.
“I have a problem with my car. Could you pick me up? If not I will find away.” I didn't let him finish.
“I am on my way. Wait a moment.” I turned the car around.
“You're an angel.” I heart him smile.
“Yeah sure. I will be there in a minute. Wait at your house.”
Richard's point of view
“Do you know where is Y/N? She is late.” I asked Rob.
We were standing by the printer. We needed some stuff before we start filming scenes of season 14.
“No. I didn't speak to her since the last time we worked on the script. That was last week I think.” Rob answered.
I took my phone out of the pocket of my jeans. I looked for a message from her or call. This is not something she would do. She is never late. Always soon.
“You already worry about her?” Rob started.
When I looked at him he was smiling. I knew where is he going.
“What? Something could happen.” I tried to keep the conversation away from where it was going.
“Or maybe you are just jealous. No?” He was looking through my eyes into my soul.
I Couldn't hide it. Not in front of him. He was closest to me. He really knew me.
“I, well, maybe I just worry about her way too much.” I put my phone away and took papers out of the printer.
“Or you should just tell her what do you feel for her.” I heard him behind me.
I started walking to set. I didn't look at him.
“Why? So I can lose my friend. No thank you.” I walked outside to met our team.
“Why lose her? What if she feels the same way.” he almost runs to me. He made me laugh.
“Look at her and then at me. Can't you see.” Now I was desperate. “She is full of life. Everyone loves her. And way not to?”
I turned to face him. I wasn't whispering but not shouting anyway. I didn't wanted to somebody hear us.
“That is why you need her. She makes you live again.” he put his hand on my shoulder. “After your life in marriage, you forgot what it means.”
“Yeah, well.” I wanted to continue but Y/N's car pulls over.
“Hi, guys.” She smiled at us. I got her bag out of the car and went over to us. “I got you coffee but someone's car broke.” She gives us what she brought us.
“Hi Angel, thanks,” I said.
“Hi.” Rob smiled as well. “You didn't have to,” he said when she gave him coffee.
“Well I wanted to.” that was all she said.
“Hi, guys. Sorry for running late. Car broke.” Jared appeared behind her.
“Yeah, we heard.” I simply said. I kept looking at Y/N. She was smaller than me. Her Y/E/C was bright and big. Smile make my knees go weak.
“I think Jensen was looking for you, Jared.” Rob makes wake up from steering at her.
“Thanks.” Jared disappears as quickly as he showed up.
“Let's get to it.” She said and I gave her her script to her role as Winchester sister.
Evening - same day
Reader's point of view
The room was filled with laughter. I loved moments like this. I felt wanted, loved, I felt like I belong somewhere.
“Y/N what do you think?” Jensen laugh.
My head snapped up. I didn't really listen to them.
“What?” I asked. I felt the blood rushing to my face.
“She is not even listening.” Jared laughs and I joined him.
“There is Castiel and Dean's ship, and What I think there should be Gabriel and Sam shit. What do you think.”
Everybody was waiting for my answer. It was weird.
“I agree.” I smiled. “Jader is the number one fan of Destiel. I am the number one fan of Sabriel.”
Then everybody lost it. I was so happy. I make them laugh for the rest of my life if I can and they will let me.
“I am ready to create that just for you,” Richard said to me.
I got up and hugged him.”Thank you.” I smiled. I love the way he smelled. I love him.
Since the day I met him. He went through a lot. Rob told me about his wife. He was just divorcing. I told him I am here for him anytime he needs me. He knew it. He was the most important person in my life.
“I am (your character and Gabriel) number one fan.” Rob started.
I didn't know what to do. I was embarrassed. Not because of Richard. I didn't know Rob knew about my feelings for him. I didn't expect to tell it in front of everyone.
I looked up in his face since I was smaller. He was not happy. Shit. I looked at his friend like he was about to kill him in the spot.
Misha tried to play it off but the mood was killed.
I took a step away from Rich and looked around the room. Jared was looking at me. I know what he knew. As my best friend. He told me in the car to speak about my feelings. But I couldn't. I am not brave enough.
“I think I had enough today.” Jensen started. “I go to bed. You guys enjoy your time without me.” He got up and said his goodbyes.
“Well, I am gonna head off to. I am tired.” I smiled at everyone.
Richard looked sad for a moment. I was so confused. Did he like me as a sister or more?
“Goodnight.” I went to my trailer.
Richard's point of view
“You ruined it.” Jared laughs at Rob. “Didn't you see them? They were cuddling.”
“So you told him.”
Now I was really angry. I didn't expect him to act like this in front of Y/N or tell anyone what I felt for her.
“He didn't have to. Everyone sees it.” I smiled at me.
“Well.” I took my jacket from a chair. I wanted to close myself into an empty room and never come out of it.
“Goodnight, boys,” I said and went off.
“Wait,” Rob screams at me outside.
I ran to me but I kept going. I didn't have a mood for this.
“I didn't mean to do it to make you guys uncomfortable. I just wanted to make you make a move on her. I am sorry.” he makes me stop and look at him.
“I know but it is just no meant.” I smiled and hugged him. “See you tomorrow.”
I went to my trailer and saw her there. I didn't know what to do. What to say. I just kept looking at her.
“Hi.” She said.
She was sitting at my stairs. “Care to join me?” She smiled at me.
“Join you?” I didn't get it first.
She offered me her hand and I took her. She makes me sit next to her. I could smell her hair. I had to hold my self. I wanted to hug her.
“Look at the stars.” She looked up.
I repeated after her. She was right. The night sky was beautiful. Not as she is. But still.
“I wish things are easy and people love each other..” She said when she saw a star fall from the sky.
“Well said.” I agreed.
“You must think I am crazy.” She looked at me. I could saw tears in her eyes. It broke my heart to see her like this.
“Of course I don't. Never say something like this.” I took her in my arms and she let me.
She needed a hug? I am always here.
“Who told you that?” I asked her.
“Noone.” She looked me in the eyes. “I.” She confessed.
“Why?” I didn't understand.
“I don't know. My mind doesn't make sense.” She put her face on my neck.
Thank Chuck there was dark. I was blushing like an idiot at hight school.
“It doesn't have to make sense to be beautiful,” I said. I tried to look in far so I don't make her feel uncomfortable.
“You are an amazing person, you know that right.” I could feel her small hands on my back. She was trying to get closer to me. Maybe she was cold.
I reached for my jacket to put it on her but she took me by surprise. She pulled away and looked me deep in the eyes. And then it happened. She put a hand on my neck and kissed me. Her soft lips were on mine.
I kissed her back. I had to. It was instinct.
“I am sorry,” I said when we pulled apart.
“Don't be.” She was still looking in my eyes. She was so close to me. “I wanted to do that since I meet you.”
Her confession makes me smile. “Really?” I didn't believe it.
“Why are you so surprised?” She asked.
“Well.” I wanted to be honest with her. “Look at you and then at me. I am getting old. I am not like Jared or Jensen.” I put her hair away from her face.
“You are not like then, but that is why I want you. Maybe I am stupid but.” I didn't let her finish.
“You are not stupid. You are far from that. You deserve the world and I am afraid I can't give one to you.”
“You still don't get it, do you? You are my world.” She smiled.
I couldn't hold myself anymore. I took her lips with mine again.
Angels and Demons by twerkinlarry
Words: 70k
It’s a time where both Angels and Demons walked on earth, doing their work unbeknownst to humans. They look like normal humans, act like normal humans, interact such as, but they have very specific jobs not at all human like. Angels are here to guard, protect, and guide people into the right path. Demons are here to do just the opposite; mislead, give into poor judgment, throw into harm’s way, wreak havoc in general. Angels and Demons are given few guidelines other than their general rules, however there is one rule never to be broken; do not interact with the other. Under no circumstance should an Angel ever interact with a Demon, nor a Demon with an Angel, and that’s all.
Words: 171k
The year is groovy 1973, and eighteen-year-old Louis Tomlinson is perhaps the gayest teen to ever grace the gloomy, hateful town of Fortwright. Would be fine if he wasn’t so viciously bullied at both home and school for such a “harmful” sexual preference.
Yeah, yeah, we’ve all heard this story, haven’t we?Believe him, Louis didn’t think he was anything special either.
Until he found the mansion. The notoriously haunted mansion hidden deep within the forests of his tiny blip of a town in Bumfuck Nowhere, Idaho. No one with a brain ever goes near it, but Louis could use a little excitement in his life…and possibly a Band-Aid or two.
After discovering the mansion was less abandoned than he’d thought, he’s now left with the most riveting mystery of a lifetime; every new finding leaving him with more questions. Who is this elusive owner, and why won’t they show themselves? Why is there a set of journals in the same handwriting that span over centuries? Why in the world is there a padlock on the refrigerator…and who the hell is Alexander?
The breath Louis drags in is shaky, tinged with the heat from Harry’s mouth. “If I dreamed you up to get myself off, I’d have made you more attractive.”
Harry pulls back just far enough to look more fully at Louis’ face, lips spreading into a wide cattish smile, all teeth. “You’ve really got to stop embarrassing yourself by trying to lie to me.”
or: Things were a lot easier before Louis’ hallucinations decided to give themselves a body and a name.
“No matter how much you want to leave, no matter how much you want to get out of this place, I’m not going to let you. I love you too much.”
“I… I don’t think I want to leave..”
Alaska by BeyondxLawliet
Words: 85k
“Let’s go out to my car, yeah?” he heard Harry say, Louis looking up at him. The ground was moving underneath his feet, or maybe it was just him. He raised his hand to push him away because no, this wasn’t happening, but he felt too weak. The hand was only falling down to his side again. Harry? No, he was too nice.Maybe he was taking him home?
“Are you taking me home?” he whispered with a slur, his eyes fluttering closed as he stumbled into Harry. He could hear his heartbeat. It was beating quickly.
“Yes,” Harry whispered back, taking his coat and put it over Louis’ shoulders through his blurred vision. He had no idea what was even going on. Where they even in the café still? It sounded like he was underwater, colors jumping around before him. “I’m taking you home, love.”
Sigh. I didn't *mean* to stay up this late....although I never really mean to stay up till 4:30 am. Ugh. My room is currently filled with various flies and other bugs which is very irritating so we're gonna have to deal with finding how that's happening tomorrow. But today. The last 24 hours have been pretty nuts and intense, for some reasons I'll share and some I'm going to keep to myself. I could NOT fall asleep last night, and kept tossing and turning because I was sure I took my meds, only when I finally went to take another melatonin around 5 am I discovered I took the meds from the wrong fucking day, which did not include the Xanax I'm now apparently dependent on to fall asleep (and that's fucking wonderful). Even from there it still took a while, I think I finally passed out shortly before 7. Luckily I got to sleep until like 11, so that's something at least. Everyone was pretty much waiting on me so I got ready quickly and threw my stuff together, since we were gonna go to the "downtown" section of the town my cousins live in and go to the airport from there. So we head down there and end up having lunch at this cute little brewery place, I got a kind of curious burger that had shrimp on it but was really good! I appreciated that in the women's bathroom stalls they had a specific note about if you're date isn't going well or you're uncomfortable with who you're with for any reason, go to the bar and order an angel shot and they'll get you out of there safely. That has been floating around the Internet of course, but I very much appreciated them putting it there as I'm sure there are many who don't know. From there we went to some of the little shops and mostly just browsed, looking at the touristy t-shirts and such. I wanted to get a pirate themed sign that says "wenches" for my sister and I to hang out our door but my mom was dead set against it and wouldn't let me 😂 lol. There was one store that had a bunch of funny things and I ended up getting two bumper stickers and two magnets from there, the bumper stickers say "well behaved women rarely make history" which I gave to my sister, and the other says something along the lines of "those who say it can't be need to stop getting in the way of those who are doing it." I couldn't resist the magnets because I knew my roommate would appreciate them, one of them says "Jesus would kick the shit out of you" which is great because that's how I feel about many people who call themselves Christians and then do terrible things to people, and the other has a picture of Trump and it says "days without being a national embarrassment: 0" and I just couldn't resist. From there we made a final stop at a coffee place and then headed to the airport. We said our goodbyes and got through to the gate extremely quickly because the airport is ridiculously tiny, it's literally one hallway with like, 8 gates total lol. Earlier when we were driving my aunt had asked if I was planning on staying in Chicago after law school, and since I made up my mind yesterday that I won't be I said no, and of course my mother was like "this is the first time I'm hearing this" and I was like "yeah well that's because I made the decision yesterday" 😂 lol. But while we were waiting at the gate I mentioned I would really miss my church in Chi more than anything, and she was saying how there are plenty of good ones and I started voicing my objections with many churches which then led to a bit of a political fight and me getting frustrated because she like just doesn't pay attention to anything that's going on and thinks everything is sunshine and rainbows with Trump and I'm just like UGH. But whatever. I'll probably send her news updates now 😂 though idk of she'll read them. Oh well. Got on the plane, and I spend probably a solid half hour defeating the "hard" sudoku puzzle in the back of the airline magazine. I'm out of practice, or it would've been shorter lol but I was still proud of myself for getting it done because there were a few times I thought I was gonna be stumped but I got creative. After that I started a long CC fanfic that had been on my marked for later list but I REALLY wanted to start reading it and it's soooo good so far I just want to read it all the time lol. So I got like 30 pages into that (out of 120) before we landed. Got our bags, then had to take a shuttle to another lot where they were making the cars wait which was irritating, but I guess it's better than the mess it was trying to get through beforehand. Drove home, and are Chinese food with the family. I felt randomly inspired to kick around a soccer ball after, but the soccer ball I had last year had since disappeared, so I ventured into the basement to see if there were any in there. I found 4, two were deflated and two had something else wrong with them that they were like, rock hard, and I swear one of them I bought when I was like six. But I took those two up and tried to play with them, but they did not function as actual soccer balls so I'm gonna have to make a trip to a sports store at some point to remedy that situation. I went back inside after that and decided to watch a movie with my sister, I said she could pick and she chose "the space between us" (I think that's what it's called? Something like that) which I hadn't heard of but was pretty cute, as per usual we only got like halfway through before my sister bailed because she apparently has a very short movie attention span (sigh). We'll finish it tomorrow. I stayed in the back on my laptop for a little bit before joining my dad and brothers in the den, where they were watching an episode of house of cards, which I haven't seen any of but of course recognized Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright from their appearances at the Tonys the other night. After that my brothers bailed, and my dad went to watch where he was up to in season 2 of Supergirl, episode 7. We're watching and they have the scene where Maggie is talking to Alex about still being friends after she initially turned Alex down, and I went to needle my dad about it like "oh aren't you just so mad to see them shoving their gay agenda down your throats???" (totally sarcastic obviously) which then led to a political debate which was endlessly frustrating, but it eventually gave way to a really good conversation about the future and such, and I told him about my decision not to stay in Chi post school and of course he was thrilled, though I made no promises that I'd be returning here the goal is still the job in NYC. I did happen to stumble upon another nonprofit law firm I'd be interested in working for today, except this one is based in California (not an improvement from Chicago). They focus on more than just foster care for broader youth issues including juvenile justice reform, which is definitely something I could get behind. But I really don't want to have to take the California bar exam (you probably don't know this, but it's by FAR the hardest of all the state bars, and the last passing rate was like 49% which is ridiculously low) or really be that far away from everyone when the goal was really to be closer. But I mean, we'll see. Of course my dad immediately starting making his pitch for all the things he has going on here that could draw me back, and I'll admit he did make a compelling case in several aspects. I said that if I did end up out in this general area of Long Island (in a temporary position at least, probably for the government in some capacity) I do not think it would be good for my mental health to move back into this house, which he seemed to understand but said you know we'll deal with that when we get there, so *shrug* I guess we'll see how that works. It's a lot more inconvenient to want such things when you're still asking your parents to finance it because you don't have any money since you're a full time student. But anyway. I also told him something I've been musing on lately, just because it seems like I've been seeing an influx of stories of abuse against children (which it's possible is entirely due to one or two Facebook groups I'm in, but still), especially child deaths, and it's made me want to work as a prosecutor for a crimes against children unit. It's hardly the first time I've considered the idea, I've always said that is the only way I would consider being a prosecutor. But it would be another option at least. But yeah, it was a really good convo and it reminded me why I do love my dad so much, even when his political views frustrate me to no end and I don't think I can ever forgive him for voting for Trump (sigh). But yeah, that's it and it's 5 am now so I REALLY need to get to bed. Goodnight my darlings. I hope you get more sleep than I do.
She’s here again, banging on my door, yelling for me to wake for school. She yells for an hour, trying to get me to get up because she says I can’t afford to miss another day. I get up, I take my meds, I get ready, and I leave. I drag my feet the whole 5 minute walk, not looking forward to hours of work I’ll never use, surrounded by people who are too loud, too mean. But I won’t complain. It’s all too much but that’s okay. I get reminded every day by my best friend, “just ignore it.” When I get home I take the dog out, clean up in the house, and sit at home waiting for my parents to come home. When they come home, we pray before dinner and give each other a kiss goodnight, and once they’re in bed I’m by myself again, waiting. I sit and listen to the hum of the television thinking over every little thing someone said to me. I think about my mother, and her insistent need to remind me that I need to lose weight, or that there’s something new on tv that she watched that has helped her see things better and how she thought I would like it. How she’s constantly micromanaging me into spilling my heart out to her when in the past, all she’s done is tell me I was confused and broken and fucked up. I think about my dad, constantly reminding me about schooling and college and getting a job, even thought he used to deny letting me get one whenever I had wanted one. How he always seems to care a little more than my mom, even though I hardly ever get to talk to him. I think about my brother, and how when I told him I was trans he said he would support me no matter what because he wanted me to be happy, yet even when we’re alone he’d still call me his sister and ignore my hurt when he starts telling me about how I embarrass my mom by being the way I am. I remember my friends who are no longer my friends and how they never were 100% honest with me and would talk about me behind my back. I still remember how they always said they would support me no matter what and we would always be friends, but when I couldn’t do everything they asked for they tossed me carelessly to the side. I remember my cousin and how she used to touch me when we were younger because that’s what she and her boyfriend did. I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone. I remember one class in 8th grade we watched a movie, and my ex on-again off-again boyfriend from the 4th grade was in that class and he sat next to me that day in the back of the class. I remember his hands touching me and how he shoved his fingers down my throat afterwards. He didn’t talk to me again after that. I think about the kids at school making jokes about “trannies” and calling each other faggots and sounding so angry saying it. I can still hear them laughing in the back of my computer class. I don’t want to remember anymore. I’m forgetting parts and I’m forgetting faces and names and I’m losing myself in my head again and I want to scream because once I’m gone I won’t come back and I don’t want to disappear. I think about the scars on my wrists and how every time I look at them I get a tingle and I want to open them back up. How I start itching to hurt again, how I want to see the blood again. I don’t want to, but I still remember the feeling of it. How it stung and how it hurt. How sometimes I wish I went too far and how sometimes I still want to do it. But for now I’ll just sit quietly, and I’ll hold my tongue. I’ll save my tears for the pillow and my sobs for 3 am. I’ll save complaints for myself and I’ll just sit here. Same as I do everyday. As my mother’s daughter who is trying and getting better. As my father’s perfect angel who isn’t yet tainted by the bad. As my parents perfect doll who can do no more wrong, who sits and holds her tongue and goes to school everyday and isn’t depressed. I’ll sit with my hands in my lap and my mouth set with a smile and I’ll keep my thoughts to myself until I’m all alone and soaking in the years of abuse I saved inside my memories. Never to tell a soul. Because I will be the perfect daughter who can do no more wrong, to fix this broken family, and to make my family unashamed. I hope I can give myself the strength to live long enough to make my parents happy.
