(36/75) Are All the Break-Ups in Your Poems Real? - Aimee Nexhukumatahil
If by real you mean as real as a shark tooth stuck
in your heel, the wetness of a finished lollipop stick,
the surprise of a thumbtack in your purseâ
then Yes, every last page is true, every nuance,
bit, and bite. Wait. I have made them upâall of themâ
and when I say I am married, it means I married
all of them, a whole neighborhood of past loves.
Can you imagine the number of bouquets, how many
slices of cake? Even now, my husbands plan a great meal
for usâone chops up some parsley, one stirs a bubbling pot
on the stove. One changes the baby, and one sleeps
in a fat chair. One flips through the newspaper, another
whistles while he shaves in the shower, and every single
one of them wonders what time I am coming home.

#Repost @baosbooks ă»ă»ă» If you havenât read GOODBYE VITAMIN by Rachel Khong...WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?!?!?! đ đ But seriously thoughâthis book made me BAWL, which doesnât happen often, and is one of my all-time favorite books. (Although I seem to cry with increasing frequencyâI guess Iâm just getting more emotional as I get older?) This book tells the story of Ruth, a woman whose life has turned upside down, as she returns home to help take care of her father, who suffers from Alzheimerâs. Itâs sparsely told, poignant, and dives deep into grief and the complexities of loving deeply flawed people. đ đ đ đ đ #alltimefavorites #favoritebooks #goodbyevitamin #rachelkhong #womenwriters #writersofcolor #womenofcolor #diversevoices #bookstagrammer #booknerd #bookish #reader #readersofinstagram #booksofig #instagramreads #bookobsessed #booksandflowers #bookphotography #clutter https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpub5cYHkoO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=302repo9auuu

I'm back in Miami!!đ (Well just for a bit, and you can obviously expect me to keep posting many NY pics) đ€ . So #GoodbyeVitamin was highly recommended to me by a friend and I have to say I really like the sound of it! Check it out and let me know what you think: âš Her life at a crossroads, a young woman goes home again in this funny and inescapably moving debut from a wonderfully original new literary voice. . Freshly disengaged from her fiancĂ© and feeling that life has not turned out quite the way she planned, thirty-year-old Ruth quits her job, leaves town and arrives at her parentsâ home to find that situation more complicated than she'd realized. Her father, a prominent history professor, is losing his memory and is only erratically lucid. Ruthâs mother, meanwhile, is lucidly erratic. But as Ruth's fatherâs condition intensifies, the comedy in her situation takes hold, gently transforming her all her grief. Told in captivating glimpses and drawn from a deep well of insight, humor, and unexpected tenderness, Goodbye, Vitamin pilots through the loss, love, and absurdity of finding oneâs footing in this life.

(19/75) I Don't Miss It - Tracy K. Smith
But sometimes I forget where I am, Imagine myself inside that life again.
Recalcitrant mornings. Sun perhaps, Or more likely colorless light
Filtering its way through shapeless cloud.
And when I begin to believe I havenât left, The rest comes back. Our couch. My smoke
Climbing the walls while the hours fall. Straining against the noise of traffic, music,
Anything alive, to catch your key in the door. And that scamper of feeling in my chest,
As if the day, the night, wherever it is I am by then, has been only a whir
Of something other than waiting.
We hear so much about what love feels like. Right now, today, with the rain outside,
And leaves that want as much as I do to believe In May, in seasons that come when called,
Itâs impossible not to want To walk into the next room and let you
Run your hands down the sides of my legs, Knowing perfectly well what they know.

tagged by @anticurses, thank you so much for remembering me and tagging me! (also, i'm sorry for taking way too long to post, heh) :]
eight questions for nine people!
last song i listened to was: "witness", by kmfdm.
favourite colour(s): cherry red, olive green and coal black.
last TV show or film i watched: i've watched some classic christmas films like: "home alone", "the holiday", "how the grinch stole christmas", "the umbrellas of cherbourg", "it's a wonderful life", "carol". very festive.
currently watching: "percy jackson and the olympians" because i want to feel like i'm 11 again.
sweet, savoury, or spicy?: savoury and spicy, all the way! no wonder i'm hypoglycemic, i'm not a huge fan of sweet.
relationship status: single and ready to mingle.
current obsession: wondering myself if i should bleach my hair (my hair is a virgin, i've never dyed it. it's naturally black!).
last thing i googled: "bdsm test", because every time i'm on my fertile period i have to check it and i have no idea why i do that lol.
tagging! ⥠(only do that if you want to, of course):
