Goodbye Jimmy The Chef/Fish. The legend Jimmy The Chef/Fish has “retired”. The kitchen at Grey Lynn RSC is now called Ben’s Kitchen. Ben MacDonald, ex Buoy Cafe and MasterChef AU 2014 finalist has taken over (ably assisted by Paul Cathro). The menu has all of the old favourites: fish & chips, fish pie, pan-fried fish in brown butter, with capers & potato & left salad. Tonight, Uncle tried the falafel salad with halloumi, hummus & pesto. Vegetarian and gluten-free some more. I enjoyed the change from menus piscine but know that the fish & chips will always be there, and as good as ever. Ben assures us that Jimmy The Chef will not be totally lost to his fans.
