Music Safari Miami, February 2024

Hamilton de Holanda and Gonzalo Rubalcaba were going to record an album at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami. I had to be there.

The first step was development of the material and rehearsal at Gonzalo's house, with his big Bosendorfer.

Two monsters shook the earth.

The next day the scene shifted to Criteria Studio E.

Carlos Alvarez, recording engineer, was in charge.

It's weird being in a big-studio control booth - the visual separation from the double glass is profound. But the hyper-real audio presence defies that fact.

Some songs required take after take.

Others were amazing after only one take or two.

Videographer Dani Gurgel worked hard to document the recording session.
