Alright, I’ve had a day, several rounds of video games, and a round of makgeolli later, I’m still shaken. I don’t understand how - but love even more - how many thoughts When the Night Comes shakes out of me, so... more rambles? It’s a hell lot longer than I expected, and re-organising it was a headache. Of course, here be spoilers below...

(I did one last time too, didn’t I? At this rate it’ll be a regular thing... Please don’t mind my thought rambles, it’s just this game keeps my brain and my writing fizzing non-stop after a while.)

Have I mentioned August crying breaks my heart? It does. It still does. Replaying his route and re-watching the breakdown in other routes did not make it any easier for me.

Good god Piper’s scars are numerous but she’s still stunning to look at

Piper’s hurting so much in her route though - I sort of wish she could be there to confront Harry, but that would most likely make everything spiral out of control

Alkar calls Meriman Meri-smash and I giggled so much. I mean... it’s true no?

Alkar is bloody adorable and so prickly-soft I can’t even bear it

I want a taaaaail. You know, in the Omen, Alkar, and the Omkar route... it seems so handy!

Omen’s morning-after broke my heart. In this lifetime - and how many more? I almost don’t want to think about this demon sweetheart spending eons alone.... Okay maybe I can and write angst about it but not today.

Omen’s brimstone lillies! And I think Alkar has a bouquet too if I didn’t misinterpret the line in the Omkar route...

Alkar’s got the most exposition in their route of the aftermath - I’ll run more time to process it later.

I take that back August’s robe is miles sparklier than Ezra’s.

Also embarassed August is adorable. Them running away is also adorable.

More thoughts that don’t fit anywhere:

So - Fiero and Elaine are both oddly off-key this chapter, and I can’t put my finger on why.

Elaine is... she’s adorable and lovely, but the game’s made an excellent job highlighting how different from Omen she is, and how different from us she is. Actually, for the first time it’s a tad bit creepy.

Fiero... hm. Fiero gave me the shovel talk on Finn’s route, but them giving the Hunter a lingering look does not bode well. Is this a general “I don’t trust how close you are to my Clan leader” thing, or is it something darker, given... well, how Chapter 9 ended.

Also Elaine’s illusion is both wonderful and terridying

Foreshadowing for Chapter 9, given how Chapter 8 ended with Harry apparently taking our word for consent?

(Also nopenopenope not doing pledge I’m a coward alright?)

So Harry took Levi on one-on-one... and turned him to ashes. Unless he’s taken an elixir of sorts too?

I’m not convinced Harry’s mad - I’m closer to thinking he knows exactly what he’s doing, because “mad” is too easy a way out. Although we could go into what constitutes madness or not...
