Heyyy, do you want to read Party Of Your Lifetime lyric analysis / speculation / vibe check that would make any sensible literature teacher weep (not necessarily for good reasons)? Hi :)

"Party of your lifetime" -> So title, obviously menacing, you WILL die after this. Very cool 10/10.

"We're On-Lyne" -> Not just announcing the bands name but also alluding to the fact that they have the technology based Techrot. Also, infested, hivemind, online, got it? Gotta love it.

Bit of a theory, if the Techrot was a thing before Y2K but Y2K is still a threat, it could be argued that the Techrot would/will become more powerful once the clock hits 0:00, especially if the computers are not turned off. We know how fans are, if your faves name is On-Lyne you will keep your PC on going into the new year, as every true On-Lyne fan should. So their name's also a tactic to make sure they spread as far as they can.

"Step into the night, where all the stars are bright" -> Stars, celebrities aka. On-Lyne, also stars make up the night sky, they are a 'unity' could allude to the infested hivemind, also also, manipulation, "You can become a bright star just like us, you just have to 'step into the night' / become infested."

"We're back again to do this, and we're gonna do it right" -> This song is On-Lynes big return, but also could mean that the infestation is here. Also could mean that the Techrot isn't just 'infestation that started in 1999' but the infestation we know and love from the game, that Albrecht brought back from the future to make proto-frames that is now spreading far and wild in 1999. This would also explain why the Techrot / Coda Technocyte managed to evolve into Liches while our 'basic' infestation couldn't. Because they are the basic infestation that had ages to evolve.

"Something wild's in the air, I just know it" -> Infestation obviously. I'm also gonna say that this line has a double meaning, and is a warning to the listeners.

I think this song, other than being a catchy indoctrination 'hymn' of the infested is also a warning by the original On-Lyne members. Throughout the song the heat as motif pops up multiple times usually followed by / following references to fighting / winning. There are also some lines that makes the song feel like a bit of a tug war between consciousnesses, a fight for control, I believe between the Techrot and the band members, which is actually a pretty common theme in Warframe, see Umbra, all the Warframes, Ordis, Narmer, the Holdfast, even to some extent Drifter in Duviri and Stalker in his recent quest.

"Now we're moving quicker [...] there's no turning back" -> Again, obvious infested reference, the "Once we hit the scene, there's no turning back" being another double meaning warning, that once the concert happens something will change forever. I believe this would be the Techrot taking complete control over On-Lyne.

"Gonna bring that feeling, gonna feel the heat, On-Lyne is in town and we can't be beat" -> This is again the Techrot spreading, little shout out to heat damage that is effective against them except, no.

If my reading of this song being sang by 2 opposing forces is right this is probably one of the coolest lines here. So if this is On-Lynes big return this could also be the first time they're preforming this song live. Now the Infestation and most likely Techrot too, are weak to heat, so it could be that it's influence gets weaker the higher the temperature is. And this will be a concert. Do you see the vision?

"We come alive moving under the neon glow" -> And what a follow up, someones "coming alive" moving (generating body heat) under the neon glow (lamps probably also generating a lot of heat).

"Everybody rock!" -> Again as reminder that this would be a stadium filled to the brim with people. Also a call to make people move, sing, etc. which is also could and probably is a tactic of the Techrot to get people more in sync.

"It's the party of your lifetime" -> Love the title.

"The signal's strong can you feel it in the floor?" -> This line gives me the vibes of both a cover up, like the Techrot moving under the crowds feet and so giving a reason for it, "Yeah that's how loud we are!" but also as a warning again "Can't you feel the floor moving???"

"It's the party of your lifetime"

"Now that you can see there ain't no stopping me, The city's on 11 it's two thousand degrees" -> Again with the heat motif and fighting, this line to me has the double meaning, the infestation can't be stopped, it's 11, almost midnight, and shit is soon hitting the fan, but also could be a call out OF the infestation, "Here we have some control, it's HOT in here, like 2000 degrees"

"Something big is coming, but it's just the beginning (this is just the beginning, just the beginning)" -> This is one of the 2 lines that made me believe this theory, because while this could just be the infested cheekily telling us "Hey hihi shit is gonna happen soon, lol" it's right after the line that can be read as 'going against the infestation' and while this line could be read as a warning, we can't forget about the background vocals. Let's consider the difference between the lines 'It's just the beginning' and 'This is just the beginning' the first can be said by someone who has nothing to do with something, very general, while the second says THIS, THIS thing that I'm doing, THIS thing that is happening. The way I read it the front vocals are sang by the actual humans that the Techrot is controlling, and the background is the Techrot.

"Neon lights flicker, DJ spins the track, the boys are in sync and there's no turning back" -> Notice how right after the last line we get a sharp switch to 3rd person story telling, as if the Techrot just managed to get control back? This is obviously telling someone that these people are now under control and this is something that can't be undone. But whom? This sounds just like "There's no reason to fight now, everything is lost anyway." Also the line "Neon lights flicker" is painting a scene that usually alludes to something changing / bad happening.

"Now that you're invested, we're turning up the heat, Everybody sing together on the one, two, three" -> This is the line that is being called out as famously mishear for 'Now that you're infested', for good reason, but again, notice how heat and fighting (albeit well hidden) come up again in the song, 'You're in(f/v)ested so we're turning up the heat, and everybody should sing along now, (which is again something that would make the stadium hotter from moving -> body heat.

"Floating higher as the stars align, here on the edge of 1999" -> This could be meaning that as Y2K approaches they are getting stronger 'floating higher', just as it could mean out of body experience, aka. losing control.

"All systems go in this moment like you've never known (you've never known)" -> This is the line I'm gonna cling to as the biggest clue to the Techrot going crazy at the New Year. Also why I think On-Lyne encouraged their fans to not turn their computers off before midnight. I'm not sure I really believe this but this line could be the reverse of 'Something big is coming' with the boys singing in parenthesizes 'You've never known what's happening' to the crowd.

"Join us embrace us, don't ever erase us (On-Lyne's in the house)" -> So subtlety is out the window, we're bringing in the chanting until-

"Stop" -> And this is the line that made me write this whole post. Just. Why? Why would the Techrot put a stop to the chanting? Except if this isn't the Techrot but there is some humanity, something, anything remaining from the people they infested, that is for one last time fighting back?

"On-Lyne's in the house to bring the party of your lifetime" -> So this is purely speculation but I do believe that from this line forward it is the actual On-Lyne singing right until the end. Why?

Right after this line the music stops, like a moment of clarity, that could be so much. It could be the infestation wrestling back control once and for all, but I don't believe that that would be the case, from the lyrics that follow.

[Chorus] -> So I already explained that everything in the chorus could be interpreted as either the Techrot or On-lyne singing it, but after it comes

"We come to life, we come to life on the floor, This feeling's what we came for, The beat is strong, we can feel it in the floor" -> 'We come to life on the floor' can be interpreted as the Techrots control loosening which is the 'feeling that [they] came here for' and it's not the infested moving underfoot, but the beat they will feel in their last moments as the song ends.

"Party of your lifetime"

"[distorted] Party of your lifetime" -> The Techrot singing, trying to imitate human sound probably.

"Party of your life. Time." -> The moment I think the Techrot won was right after 'life' but it couldn't stop the 'time', because Warframe is at the end of the day about love, and hope and all that good stuff and so I refuse to look at this in any other way.

So anyway, this is just a random theory / analysis that I thought of after listening to this song too many times. I think the themes of battling for control over our lives fits Warframe perfectly, with the quests that we had in the past few years, and so I wouldn't be surprised if our new fan favorite boy band had a similar story to tell.

so, maybe Johnny goes to therapy. maybe Kyle—forever attuned to the welfare of his mate’s—notices Johnny withering into a quiet, reserved shell of himself. physically there but never mentally, always foggy-eyed. Kyle contacts the on-base counsellor and forces Johnny there, tacking on stuff like “there’s nothin’ to be sorry of, we gotta take care, right? mental health matters an’ all tha’?”

it becomes a weekly thing. Johnny’s usual routine was being chewed up and spit out by Ghost, but slowly, his weeks ripen into something… healthier. meetings with his therapist that tells him everything Ghost won’t. you’re special, you’re strong, you’re worthy of more. this isn’t your penance. Johnny takes these hymns and holds it close to his heart, making it a mission to break away from Ghost’s choking leash on him.

Johnny probably asks Ghost to meet him one day. somewhere covert, like behind two tents on deployment. he’s excited. hasn’t been that happy in so long, because he’s finally taking hold of his own leash, snuffing out that stigma. Ghost approaches with a listless gait and Johnny fishes out some crumpled, parsed-over sheet of paper, and Ghost almost barks out a laugh. he does chuckle, though.

Johnny recites this rehersed speech and to Ghost, it’s… pathetic, really. filled with cloy self-exalt and self-appraising words. not even Johnny believes it.

“I deserve to be more, Ghost… I deserve more than you.”

Ghost’s definitely somewhere on the threshold between resenting him and taking it as a challenge, so he shrugs like he couldn’t care less, heedful towards the marginal crumble of Johnny’s face, and walks away.

never mind that he starts wearing tighter pants after that. denim that chokes his thighs and outlines the barest hint of his cock. never mind that he doesn’t bother wiping the sweat from his neck after some PT. never mind him speaking to Johnny with a sharper edge, footnoting all his orders with Sergeant, a brassy reminder that Johnny will only ever be the bug beneath his boot. never mind him plying Kyle and Price to his barracks and pointedly leaving out Johnny, just so he’d deplorably come crawling, scratching on his door until he’s let inside.

never mind Ghost starting to fuck another recruit. making a show of it with the mulberry love bites staining the skin beneath his lapel.

and just like that, the positive affirmations Johnny had scribbled onto dog-eated sticky notes and plastered over his bathroom mirror to be read every morning, written into his brain, falls apart.

THERE IS SO MUCH I WANT TO DISCUSS ABOUT THE THIRD DESCENDER THING. I am going to be 0% coherent about any of this but I'll do my best

So we know of four Descenders at this point:

The Primordial One (who Neuvillette calls the "First Usurper," which I find very spicy of him);

The Second Who Came - who, according to Before Sun and Moon, fought and lost to the Primordial one, BUT who, according to Neuvillette, then proceeded to help The Primordial One make the Gnoses from the remains of the

THIRD Descender, who we know nothing about besides that their remains are the seven Gnoses!?; and

The Traveler [Abyss sibling ISN'T considered a Descender but this might be because they don't REMEMBER it (see: Battle Pass quote from Venti and the gnostic Hymn of the Pearl).]

We still don't know WHERE they came from, WHY they came to Teyvat, WHY they insisted on having beef with the Dragon Sovereigns or why THEY are the only ones allowed to create human beings while anyone else who tries to do so gets the hurt put on them. However we DO know that apparently they can be split into pieces Horcrux-style. (Which probably shouldn't surprise us at this point considering how many times various Water GoddessesTM have done so)

"Functions ruined" !? Cool so what IS the Primordial One if they have "functions" ???

"Resentments and loathing of the world" is, I'm assuming, a reference to Forbidden Knowledge (which, as I've discussed previously, has shown itself to be VERY emotionally-based).

If the PO and the "one who came after" created the Gnoses together - what happened to the Third Descender? Did they die? Was this a punishment? Did they willingly sacrifice themselves? Who WERE they in relation to the first two descenders!?

"Thus did humans come to ONLY possess these seven remembrances" - so THIS and what comes after it is, i am almost CERTAIN, a reference to the Archon War. We know that there could theoretically have been more than seven Elemental Vision types, based on the Elemental Specialist namecard. This would, however, imply that ALL OF THE ARCHONS, living or dead, are pieces of the Primordial One ("fragments of the primordial") that proceeded to fight amongst themselves for the chance to have one of the Gnoses.

WE HAVE CONFIRMATION THAT even though the "heavens" are the ones that pick whether someone has a strong enough "wish" to get a Vision, THE ARCHONS THEMSELVES ARE THE ONES THAT GIVE THEM OUT. That's not that important for lore I don't think but DAMN IT, it's important to me and my love of forming character dynamics where there are none!!!

As far as the last thing is concerned I will be genuinely shocked if Focalors' little switcharoo on the Heavenly Principles doesn't come back around later in the game. Like, she hacked the system. Someone's going to notice eventually.

Hey, saw your Prsk Unit Shuffle AU and am very interested in seeing more.

In particular, I'm interested in hearing more about how the groups formed. It's always neat to see how these characters first meet and interact under different circumstances. And, as a little bonus, maybe what their "Untitled"/theme song is, because I feel like that's a very key part of a unit's identity that tends to be overlooked.

(Not sure if you're still interested in asks about this AU. If not, sorry for bugging you about it)

GASP HELLO I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY UNIT SHUFFLE AU im so sorry this too forever to get u back on!! schoolwork is a pain and then i went SHOPPING (which takes forever :sob:)

okok so i haven't really thought about all the details of how they get together? so bear with me this is a rough draft lol

SSS: the idea at the core of this group is that its a family with different strengths coming together to make music. so tsukasa is the scriptwriter, saki is the lyricist, toya is the choreographer, and kanade is the composer! the group is headed by tsukasa, who's actually been putting on these shows for all of them since he was a kid. as he got older, he started taking stardom more seriously (leading into canon), but an incident in middle school ended up with the tenmas legally adopting toya, so that definitely shook things up for tsukasa (in a good way!). so i think that (+ l/n not reforming, which does happen in the SSS main story) allowed tsukasa and saki to consider banding their strengths together, since tsukasa loved putting on shows and saki loved seeing them, but she would also help put them on for toya (and later kanade, when she joins them not long after toya does). the two of them very quickly realize that they need more hands, and although recruiting kanade as composer is easy (bc 25ji never forms- dont ask why im still figuring that out lol) toya is a lot harder bc he's still active under BAD DOGS with akito. however, with akito picking up AWR around the same time (+ hatsune freaking miku appearing to toya), toya does join under their choreographer as for their untitled, their song is Wonderland and the Sheep's Song by Hachi, but I worked out their line distributions to this lovely KYO cover! you can see my color-coded lyrics for them here if you're interested :)

R/l: im gonna be 100% honest with you SSS and AWR are the only ones with any semblance of a plot rn LOL but here's the base idea around R/l: mizuki and rui both congregate on the kami school rooftop bc, yknow, loners (mizuki is never reached out to by kanamafu, so not 25ji on their part. tsukasa doesnt end up applying for phoenix so wxs doesn't have a chance of forming). at some point, i imagine they got talking about music, but never did anything concrete. but not long into the main story (probably the very start) an also joins them, her dream of surpassing rad weekend getting weaker as she struggles to find a partner (koha will be explained later) so she goes to hang with her friend on the rooftop. at some point, mizu and an both accidentally enter sekai, where they meet miku and len. those two tell them that there's still two others they need to find because they also made the sekai. mizu and an get.... maybe a little too excited over this. an takes this chance to invite her friend haruka over to kami (so she transfers) and join the group, but in their search for their fourth member they end up accidentally alienating rui (ironic). they fix that tho-- although HOW i dont know lol their untitled was one i went back and forth on (tbh only SSS and AWR i didnt lol), but i eventually decided on Untitled Hymn by shaito! their color-coded lyrics are here (i just realized you can barely tell where an is in lines but ehhh)

ATD: okay so. ATD is the group thats given the most gosh-darn trouble. ive revised their cast motivations like, TWICE now. but basically it goes like this: shizuku and mafuyu are both members of the archery club, with mafuyu trusting shizuku so much that her public mask slips a couple of times (against her will). shizuku's not dumb, but she doesn't say anything bc i think she understands that mafu has her secrets. after shizuku quits being an idol (on more of her own terms), she still wants to find a way to share the light she had before that seemed to reach mafu a few times. enter: accidental sekai trip! this trip both gives shizu the idea for an online group (which could sorta count as MMJ but i think the big distinction is they do more streamer/vtuber stuff and less purely idol stuff?? im still working on that) and lets her see mafu with her mask fully off. eventually, shizu drags nene into the business (nene never attends kami here, workin on that) bc shizu and mafu have no idea how streaming works and nene does, but nene likes hiding behind the camera but is still a part of the group bc who can say no to shizu? and hona joins at shizu's request bc they're both beautification members (and apparently hona+mafu are both honors students so i wonder if they have some overlap?? can you tell ive never attended public school lol) their untitled gave me SO MUCH TROUBLE. because ATD is supposed to be a weird mix of 25ji and mmj? but all of their songs get swiped by either R/l, AWR, or even SSS, so it was hard to find something that i thought could be specifically them. eventually, i finally decided on Common World Domination by PinocchioP! Their color-coded lyrics can be found here :)

MxC: oh boy this one's a doozy. so the idea here is like... there are underground music rings? which sounds wild but like if music is vaguely the lifeblood of this world i DONT CARE it can happen! i don't wanna make it life-threatening tho so its more like... you get blacklisted from everything. which for shiho--who got sucked into this world in an attempt to find bandmates--is VERY BAD. but shiho's given a little bit to find a band before their first performance, but with l/n definitely gone their separate ways (and she never wanted to involve them in the first place) she's kinda stuck. enter: airi and ena! both of them had been watching the music battles, unsatisfied with their current lives (airi having just quit idol/tv work, ena just frustrated over her art), but airi knows shiho thru miya, and when she heard about shiho's impending doom, she resolved herself to very quickly learn guitar and join her group, roping ena (who has a little bit of drum experience from akito and mom) into it as well. meanwhile, while all of this is going on, kohane (being the sweet soul she is) has been trailing shiho out of concern, but then is entirely horrified at the underground battles bc shes still pre-canon meek. but she really wants to help shiho, so she agrees to try and learn keyboard. after clearing the first battle, shiho and her group are safe--for now. they'll have to clear a lot more battles if they want to escape the underground their untitled is Hello Builder by UtsuP since i wanted them to have harsher rock songs than l/n (bordering on metal-ish)! color-coded lyrics here :)

AWR: funny story--all of the above units were made in the order listed! so i got to AWR and... i have ichika, minori, emu, and akito. and im like "NONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON". and then i went. "WAIT. THATS IT!" so here's how AWR goes: ichika still tries to reform l/n, but fails; minori is still trying to become an idol; and emu is still trying to revive the wonder stage. all three of them, all attending miya ofc, end up bonding over this and they start thinking. is there a way to satisfy all three of their dreams (band, idol, and show) at once? and at FIRST the answer is "no lol" so they go exploring. and somehow someway (workin on that) word finds out about this and some guy on vivid street dares akito to try and fix em into shape in a week. akito--being akito--accepts quite hotheadedly, then quickly realizes that maybe this wasnt a good idea?? because EVERYONE has a different music taste and its almost impossible to keep up with them all!!! but eventually they do figure it all out, and by the end none of them wanted to split apart or anything. AWR is i think the group that has the least amount of direction which might be on purpose. i think (again im rambling rn so) part of their story is figuring out what their direction is going to be! their untitled is Lip Sync by DECO*27, written as a part of holo*27 (hi no im not rlly into vtubers i just like their music) but i count it bc its written by a voca producer and this would not be the first time a non-vocaloid sung a unit song (cough cough mafumafu and tuyu). you CAN find my color-coded lyrics here.... but i did the translations. which means they're pretty much 98% google translated then bonked around to make sense. i dont know japanese please dont sue me

@izzet-always-r-versus-u — Hila, Reclusive Witch

I’m pleasantly surprised by the balance of this card, with the willingness to push out a very specific archetype and the ability to capture a regardless-draftable and relevant planeswalker in one fell swoop. When considering what this set might look like, I can see a higher-than-average as-fan of curses, but if you draft just two or three, then this card becomes worth it. Even then, what if you’re doing a BR burn deck? Hell yeah, get the aggro. Discard, too! Dimir Mill? That’s draftable! The inquiry is both specific and open-ended, and yet, the card by itself remains absolutely wonderful to play. I can imagine that, like, a storm-pinging deck that uses cantrips and Battle Hymn would find it almost broken, but that’s other constructed formats; by itself, it’s wonderful.

The Oathbreaker format, too, loves the specificity of this card. It encourages fast gameplay, it’s removal, advantage, and a TUTOR of all things—and it remains unbroken! The “spell” specificity was the best choice and hey, signature spells are indeed wonderful options. If your opponents have hexproof... Well, hey, what’re you gonna do except make ‘em sacrifice enchantments. It’s a stellar card all around.

I would build this deck with Praetor’s Grasp or Cruel Entertainment.

Right, so, you’re evil, but so am I. Honestly it’s a bit of a coincidence that black was so prevalent this week in general, but I feel that perhaps multiplayer/political gameplay makes folks think of battlefield manipulation. This card isn’t quite like that, though. Instead this card encourages Narset locking and—lol, no, I’m kidding. The thing is, like, in a draft? Of course you’re going to jam this if possible, but only the first two abilities would be absolutely relevant, and yet the last ability is still amazing. Like, this card is, no doubt, encouraging some things that I know are hardcore control-based. I like that. I think it would be a hard card to get rid of. I also think that that -X is incredibly powerful and the most worrying part about this card, but that a powerful RG aggro/removal archetype could do the job to keep it in check.

What about multiplayer? I hope folks came prepared. The fact that it doesn’t protect itself necessarily is probably the most balanced part of it. Of course, getting back all your artifacts and stuff is a pain in the butt, and the fact that artifacts can improvise for artifacts is really powerful, but yeesh. Is the recursion too much? I think that despite the cost, a control-toolbox card like this could be kept in check. Still, my only critique would be that maybe six starting loyalty is the right answer instead of seven. Some limitations are necessary. Also, uh, maybe a shorter name with that mana cost combo.

I would brew this with Dance of the Manse or Access Denied.

I’m so glad that first ability is worded correctly here because it shows that you’ve either a) studied enough cards to know the correct wording on drawing/losing order or b) read about how often I beg people to do the same having seen so many people miswrite it. But let’s get the minor stuff out of the way first, the polish that, I promise, means that I love this card. I believe the “their” in the third loyalty ability should be “that player’s,” because the “they” referring to the creatures is a little confusing? Pronouns and grammar and MTG sometimes need that little tinkering. The last ability, I believe, should be “Krulth enters with an additional loyalty counter on it if it entered from a graveyard.” Mmmmaybe. I’m 90% sure.

Draft with this card? Yes, you have an awesome RB reanimation package with theft and recursion that’s not broken and a late-game wonderful tie-in and options and card advantage and it’s a toolbox that means you get to do SO many things with it! Oathbreak with this card? You have a multiplayer target on your back but lord knows that you can work with it in the madness of it all. I feel the design choices oozing from this card, and it’s incredibly streamlined and slick and funny. That second loyalty ability is gorgeous! Macabre Tango, if you will. Unearth and the return is...beautiful, absolutely beautiful. This feels like a Horizons card that is what Horizons should be: fun power without compromising the meta.

I would play this baby with Yawgmoth’s Vile Offering or Shared Trauma.

hm! two weeks ago i took the bus around my city by myself to go thrifting and stuff, actually the first time i took the bus since i came to university. another one was in november when i went to vancouver to present research all by myself and then ended up going all the way to nova scotia, again by myself. highly recommend traveling by yourself whether to thrift in your city or go back to the motherland because it is actually so healing <3

Some Vulcan Headcanons

They have like no base in canon just things I thought about Vulcans most of them don’t have evidence either. Most of my Vulcan fanfics will probably be based off these headcanons, I’ll be adding and editing this post whenever I feel differently or think of new things~ 💕

* Vulcans can outrun humans with speed, however humans can outrun Vulcans by distance.

* Vulcans are better climbers

* Vulcans have death grips. Once they have you, it’s gonna be difficult to get away.

* They have slightly longer fingers, better for climbing!

* Vulcans can’t jump as high as a human can, however, it isn’t by much, a couple inches at most.

* Vulcans eat a lot more than they are shown. Even though they have slow metabolisms they have dense muscles that need lots of protein, luckily there are lots of high protein grains and vegetables on Vulcan.

* Ancient Vulcans were cave dwellers. The caves provided protections of predators and kept them cooler in the extreme heat of Vulcan.

* Due to the fact that the seas are small and in few numbers on Vulcan, most Vulcans cannot swim, however, in coastal towns, more of them have the knowledge on how to swim, but it seems most Vulcans still prefer to not to go for a dip. There is always the odd duck who loves to swim though.

* Before sonic showers, Vulcan use small bucks of water with a rag, or more commonly sand to bathe with

* Because of their muscles and flexibility, Vulcans don’t take a lot of fall damage, even a Vulcan child could fall from the a height that would easily kill a human and walk away with minor injuries

* Vulcan have very strong leg bones and muscles because of the slightly higher gravity than Earth

* Vulcans in the north prefer spicier food while people in the south prefer food with little, if any, spice. Humans to try the food are often stuck with something that seems boring to them, or just downright painful from the spice

* Because of their telepathic abilities, Vulcan babies need a lot of skin contact in their first few months after birth. It is not uncommon for a Vulcan mother or father to carry their infant child to their bare chest, even in public, usually tucked into their robes

* Because Vulcans are touch telepaths children get a sense of calm from their parents when they are in contact but also form familiar bonds, lack of touch can lead to malformation and damage to new neural networks in the infants brain

* Vulcans are cold to the touch, like someone who has been outside without a coat in winter. Because they’re naturally cooler Vulcans don’t need to sweat to keep cool. If ancient Vulcans got too hot they could move into caves to cool down.

* Young Vulcans (under the age of 10) and old Vulcans (over the age of 130) have a difficult time keeping warm. On modern Vulcan it is fixed with indoor heating and cooling.

* Vulcan has many hot springs, most of which are underground, and are popular. However most tourists, such a humans, cannot use them as most are too hot.

* Vulcans have two different types of robes. Robes they wear during the day that keep them cool, and robes for night to keep them warm.

* The silk that Vulcans robes are made of are actually from a plant. The plant produces a silk like substance that is sticky to prevent animals from eating it. It’s very strong and ancient Vulcans scrapped the silk from the plants and ate them. Modern day Vulcans grow these plants near the seas in the north and far south near the pole.

* Other Vulcan clothing is made from wool from an animal that is similar to sheep and alpaca. Their wool is usually use to make evening wear. The wool also used in the making of blankets, pillows, and rugs

* The soles of Vulcans shoes are usually made from a hard woody root, which were better for walking on rock. Vulcan shoes can also be made from a type grass that is common on Vulcan, which are better for walking in sand. Shoes for military are made from rubber.

* The reason why Vulcans in tos have all kind of different hair styles is because at that time period Vulcan youth wanted to rebel against common standers, it’s also why T’Pring did not wear a traditional Vulcan wedding dress.

* It’s common for Vulcan women to cover their hair, whether it be long or short. Not only does it keep their hair clean from sand but it also protects their head from the sun.

* There is actually a wide variety of fashion on Vulcan, differing types of robes, dresses, and suits. Most common colors are usually neutrals but silvers, blues, purples, and greens are common in the south while golds, reds, oranges, and yellows are more common in the north.

* The common Vulcan bowlcut, humans call it, is more common in the government and military of Vulcan. The short hair is easy to maintain and keep care of. Many Vulcan citizens has varying hairstyles and most depend on what region they live in. It is not uncommon for Vulcan men and women to have long hair, especially if they do not work in manual labor.

* Most Vulcan men shave their faces. There are many reasons for it, such as, it’s cleaner, easier to maintain, keeps them cooler, and it looks more professional.

* When it comes to body hair, it is 50/50 on who shaves. The area around the reproductive organs are usually maintained but not shaved, as for legs, arms, and under arms, some areas it is more common to save than others. Young Vulcan men usually shave their chest, but as they get older is more uncommon.

* Vulcan women have on occasion worn makeup. Buying makeup on Vulcan is uncommon, many women on Vulcan grow plants that can be use for make up such as flowers that can be ground for lipstick or a crushed leaf for rouge. These plants usually have other uses such as medical or as food.

* Sehlats are not the only pets Vulcans keep. They also keep small rodents and occasionally a ferret like animal too.

* Vulcan pet names are usually old Vulcan names no one uses anymore or names of monsters or animals from ancient Vulcan literature.

* Sehlats aren’t fed meat, but instead high protein grain and vegetables and eggs. Sehlats are naturally omnivores but the need for meat was bred out of thousands of years.

OK GONNA TRY AND MAKE THIS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE AS IM CURRENTLY HALF AWAKE AND ALLERGIES ARE KICKIMG MY BUTT

BUT👏👏 Wyrm's Bride AU!! Kinda of a 'fairytale au' that's based off the fairytale Lindworm Prince and Russian film I Am Dragon! Grima is a beeg ole snake/lindworm creature, Tathareth is someone offered up as a sacrifice to him but PLOT TWIST he doesn't kill her and romance shenanigans ensue 😩💦

Grima became creature because of Sauruman because.... of course! Wizard is petty and mean enough to curse him like that lmao, probably as some sort of punishment for being a shitty spy in Rohan once the Fellowship shows up like the gang of absolute Giga Chad Madlads that they are😔😔😔

Never put TOO much thought into this curse but I love the idea of it being a 'man at night, creature during the day' !

Snake!Grima makes lots of gator sounds! The deep, growling purrs, especially. XD

Probably has a HOARD! Some small treasures, but mostly hoards stuff like books, scrolls, etc. Prefers bookish materials over finery, lowkey 🥺

In terms of like... inner turmoil Grima wants to try and separate HIMSELF from his Wyrm self. Sort of like he does in Serpentine Whispers, where there is Grima, a man who is cunning and has the capacity to do good (but chooses not to), and then there is Wormtongue, the sly, dark ugly and unwanted aspects of his character.

So in this AU there is Grima, the man, and the Wyrm, an embodiment and manifestation of everything awful about him

Tathareth is offered as a sort of sacrifice to him because elves of Lothlorien (or off brand Lothlorien in a separate fantasy setting lmao), in a moment of infinite wisdom, think that giving a giant Wyrm that made himself at home in some caves just on their realm's borders a maiden to "wed" (or eat lmao) would appease him......also they wanna make peace with the beeg scary lizard before it becomes a nuisance 😩💦....also they could slay him themselves but for plot convenience we'll just say that elves aren't privy to slaying dragons anymore

And she is given as a sacrifice since she's no (living) family to be remembered by and she makes no effort to be social, and create social bonds, with elves soooooooo needless to say she wouldn't be missed 😩😔

She gets all done did and elaborately dressed in a gaudy bridal gown of lace and gossamer and silks, wears a veil and jewelry adorned with bells to garner attention, wears wreaths and headdress made of various red flowers, wears gaudy red makeup, and spent the previous night drinking a FUCKTON of wine so her blood tastes sweet..... and she also has a blade hidden on her, a fancy bejeweled one, that she hopes to use to slaughter her wyrm husband

A whole procession ensues, including the elves bringing various elven treasures and luxury foods, even having Tathareth riding atop an elaborately adorned horse with the intention of Grima devouring it as an offering as well. LOOKS like a wedding procession, but the somber folk hymns being sung and dour atmosphere make it feel like one for a funeral.

Tathareth has a whole internal meltdown realizing how her people never truly cared for her, thinking so little of her that they throw her away to be eaten by a wyrm. Realizes that she must be undesirable and wretched if that's the case.

Grima never devours her (or the horse) and spares her life, but accepts her as an offering for a wife because 1) pretty lady and he feels bad 🥺 2) .......actually 1 is one of the only reasons because why not

Tathareth is too scared to really do anything, let alone try to slay him as she planned, so she just tries to hide and cry her feelings out

Nighttime comes and BAM! She meets human Grima😩

She believes him to be a prisoner of the Wyrm as well, so she begins to cling to him as a companion so she feels less alone 😔

Non Magicians in Magnostadt : an analysis over the possibilities of an analogy.

I love Magi, it's probably my favorite piece of fiction of all times. But most importantly, I love analysing stuff. And for a while, I wondered what are the non Magicians of the Magnostadt kingdom supposed to represent ? And after thinking about it for a while, I think I finally got an answer so ... Strap in !!(Please do be aware that this text will talk in depth about discrimination, if this subject is triggering to you I'd advise you to stop here !)

For obvious reasons, the first thought I had was that the non Magicians were supposed to represent Jews. Magi is heavily based on both Judaism and Islamic ideas and having almost a whole population being put in a specific district can be easily linked to a real event event. But thinking about it, something felt heavily wrong. The people that were discriminated against clearly weren't supposed to be Jewish. No, everything pointed to the magicians being the ones that were Jewish instead. I'm not an expert when it comes to Jewish tradition and beliefs, but I did my research. Non Magicians are often called Goi by Mogamett. Goi is a Jewish term that is used to describe non Jewish people. And when you dug a little deeper, you can also see that Jewish people are supposed to be people closer to their god, like magicians would be since they are directly linked to the world's magic sources. I could also argue that Mogamett's does ressemble cliché representations of Jewish people, especially with the nose. Does that mean that the Jewish were represented as the oppressor and the other people as the oppressed ? I don't know. I wouldn't be able to decide if that's the case at all, especially since in other languages, Goi has been Translated to Kaffir, which is meant to describe the people who aren't Muslims. It's overall very confusing. But still, what I could see is that the people who were oppressed weren't meant to represent Jewish people. Obviously, I quickly took a look at the biggest oppressed groups there are in the world. So I thought about Sexism, Racism and LGBTphobia. Sexism didn't seem to be it at all. Women are shown to have high positions in Magnostadt's society. We see it with Myers who is a highly respected teacher or obviously Yamuraiha that is treated as one of the best Magicians ever. So it couldn't be it. Racism seemed ... Off. One of the points of Aladdin's fear of discrimination is that these people are all of the same when it comes to their appearance. It was the point of the new world that Ugo created, all creatures became the same race to avoid discrimination. And with all of that, we have Sphintus who's at the very least Arabic. As for homophobia I couldn't see a link at all. It's not like they weren't able to have children together, they did have kids. It's not that they were hated for something they love and that they could just hide it, they weren't able to do something and that's all. It couldn't be that either.   But then, it clicked. The main point of this discrimination was because people weren't abled to do something. They were disabled. It wasn't even a metaphor. They literally were disabled. And now, here comes the part with explanations and details to better understand this theory, coming with an introduction to the world disabled, because I do believe that it is interesting to have a clear difference with a disability and a handicap. A handicap means that you are facing a disadvantage due to a problem. For exemple, if you start a race with a 20 pounds chain on your  foot, you will be handicapped compared to others in the race. A disability means something you can't do. Therefore, depending on the context, someone that is handicapped can be or not be disabled. Let's say a part of a human population grows wings. If they keep evolving in our actual society they will be advantaged yes, but no one will be unable to do their normal tasks. However if the world starts to be built around these people with wings, creating places that only them can access by flying for exemple, everyone who doesn't have wings will be considered disabled. Because they're unable to do the same. Now with that exemple, replace wings with magic and you get exactly what Magnostadt's society is. It is exclusively built for people who are born magicians. Normal human beings cannot function in it properly. And what do you do when someone can't function properly ? You start discriminating them. Mogamett truly believed that the non magicians weren't as useful as other humans were, so he built a society for the to be put in a position of weakness. Some people can work on the surface, yes. But it's because they're rich or they have talent like artists or crafters. You can see disabled people working in an every day life, but most often people are surprised. As for the poor people ? Well they're put in their little spaces of life to rot. The people born in the 5th district pretty much never see the outside world and to be fair, disabled people don't either. They're meant to stay at home, because things aren't meant for us outside. From now on, I'm gonna talk about disability using my own experiences. It's probably gonna be a bit raw, but I think parallels will be easier to make. The thing that I thought the most about is the "you should be grateful" part. It's really interesting and is a very manipulative technique to make sure people are under your control. The people in the 5th district are given food and water and don't have to work. Most of them could probably work if they were given the opportunity to with the proper help to make the job accessible. But no, they're trapped in their place with no possibility to actually work for the society. They've been forced into this district because they were mistreated into poverty without the opportunity of getting out of it, and now that they're stuck in this situation, they're meant to be grateful. Because they're provided the food and sleep they need that they didn't have before when it's basic human rights. And the fact is, they've been in such an horrible situation before that they'd rather accept being treated like animals than being mistreated even more. And that's exactly what happens when handicapped people ask for financial help. We might get 1000$ a month if we're lucky, but it's still not enough. And people tell us that we're ungrateful because we want an actual liveable wage. We don't think that giving us absolutely nothing is a good either. We want to be treated as human beings. Yet we should still be oh so grateful because we're getting all of this without work. I could work if the world did a little effort. But it does. And it also comes back to the hymn beings statement. Because that's also a very interesting thing : they're not seen as human beings. Mogamett sees non magicians as animals. Different people as seen as different animals, for exemple Marga was a kitten to the man's eyes. But her being cute didn't mean he respected her. And it's not rare to see disabled people as less valuable. That was insanely obvious during the COVID-19 crisis. People kept talking about disabled people as a necessary sacrifice for other people's well being. Because to them, a human life is important. But a "lower" human life isn't as important as being able to get McDonald's. Non Magicians are more than likely to be killed if they are ill or can no longer provide enough magical ressources to the city. Since they were born into poverty and unable to get out of this place, they will most likely die at a rather young age or if they catch an illness. It's not their choice to die, the government literally kills them if they're not enough. There isn't much an equivalent in our modern society for the government killing people directly, however this method did remind me of some atrocious things that are currently done to disabled people in countries like Canada. When you're disabled, you have to pay for medication. A lot. And if you're poor, you're likely to go in dept very quickly. And for that, the government came with a solution : assisted suicide. You can either choose to die slowly and painfully, or the government can give you the medication to kill yourself. All of that because you can't pay your medication and therefore you're not useful enough to society anymore. Non Magicians in the 5th district aren't just seen as a source of magical income for the rest of society. They're seen as people you can utilise and milk of their energy until their death. And with all of these arguments, I believe that the whole Magnostadt arc's treatment of non Magicians was a direct reference of disabled people.

Hi! I made this post to avoid work. But mostly I made this post because Lumberjanes is something really important to me, and these playlist are a part of my enjoyment of Lumberjanes I don’t see people talking about a lot! So I decided to make a post in order to share them with y’all. I remember hunching over my phone making a spotify playlist (here, though it’s missing a few songs that aren’t on spotify) while on a trip to California in the summer of 2018 when I first got into Lumberjanes. I probably listened to these songs while I made my first ever Lumberjanes fanart. These mixes helped me to discover artist I really love, like Janelle Monae and Mal Blum. I hope you enjoy them as well!

Other notes: Sk8r Boi is crossed out as that is the way it appears on Mal’s playlist. Also, I tend to shy away from music videos as a personal preference, so that’s why there are so few included on this playlist, though I’m sure many of these songs have beautiful music videos. I might reblog this post in the future with some youtube playlists of these mixes, but if you want to find them yourself there are a lot of playlists of these songs made on youtube already! With Gaara beside you, you were strolling on the shore after you just both as the cold and salty breeze of the night filled you. With all honesty, you can’t believe that you’ll be spending your holidays at the beach. It was just very unlikely since everyone was wishing for snow and yet here you were walking in the sand. You can’t reject this offer though. Gaara invited you and you know he had something prepared each and everytime he’d initiate stuff with you.

You’ve been friends for so long and you’ve been pining for him ever since then. However, there’s a part of you that wasn’t hoping anymore and would accept it if he couldn’t reciprocate your feelings.

You giggled to yourself just thinking how many books could he have read just so he can deal with everything today properly. Anyways, it was so much fun. You swam together and you convinced him to binge on different flavors of ice cream. There were those awkward moments but they were rather very adorable because it’s him and he’s really trying his best.

Suddenly, you both stopped walking and he turned to you.

“Wait a sec…” He told you and you smiled in approval. It didn’t take him long before he returned—now having towels in his hands. He laid down the towels and sat on of them. Motioning to you, he said, “Here. I guess it’ll be more comfortable this way. Well, that’s based on…Whatever never mind. Just come here…”

You couldn’t help but chuckle by how cute he was.

Looking up above, you saw the glistening stars. You’ve never seen them this plenty. They’re of different shapes and sizes, and they shone in different ways. Not only that, but their reflection was sparkling over the sea sprinkling the darkness with its light.

“Beautiful…” You heard Gaara murmured and at that very instant, your heart jumped a little, but it’s difficult to assume.

“Yeah, the-the s-stars are very beautiful aren’t they?” You replied to him cheerfully but he just looked blankly at you.

“Well, yes. They’re beautiful but actually…” He was cut mid-sentence when you tapped his shoulder to look behind him.

“Gaara look! A shooting star! Make a wish! Make a wish!” You told him and firmly closed your eyes letting the star know that maybe just maybe he can finally return your feelings.

“Uh…Y/N,” Gaara called out on you but you continued on praying to the star. “Y/N…”

You opened your eyes and gave him a questioning look.

“That wasn’t a shooting star. I think it’s the search light from the safe house.”

Oh. You immediately turned face away from him all reddened due to embarrassment. How can this happen!

“But there’s a lot of stars up there, you can ask each one of them.” Gaara informed you as a matter of-factly but in his tone you surely heard a subtle excitement and joy. “That’s why I brought you here. It’s always snow during Christmas in other places and it’s hard to look up above without your eyes getting hit by snow flakes. The sky would probably all covered with fog. Here, you can see them bright and clear.”

A blush crept across your cheeks and you couldn’t get rid of it.

“Y/N…” He called your name, but this time, it sounded different. It was more mellow and definite. “Can I wish upon you?”

Your eyes widened in disbelief? Was he…Was he comparing you to a star? Why was he wishing upon you? What’s he gonna ask?

“W-What do you mean?” You couldn’t help but feel excited and embarrassed at the same time.

“I’d like to wish for you to return my feelings.”

Was it really just a search light back then or was it truly a shooting star? Why was your wish coming true? “W-What feelings? I-I mean what kind of feelings are you talking about?”

“Oh, I like you. Haven’t I made it obvious?” Gaara announced calmly and you just stared at him in complete and utter shock. Until, he picked up and the pace and figured everything out. “Oh…I guess my attempts to be obvious isn’t successful.”

Sighing deeply, he looked a bit dejected perhaps he was thinking of other ways to deal with this. You knew that he didn’t want to disappoint you in any way and just how can you ‘no’ to that!

With a big dry gulp, you mustered your courage and pulled the side of his shirt to get his attention. “Gaara, I think I can give you an answere to your wish now.”

“No.” He rejected.

“Why no?” You asked almost in a panic. Like, that was your every courage on the line there. This was your chance with him before somthing came up and things change!

“I don’t want you to reject me.  I guess I should find a better way to-“

You cut him and blurted out, “Yes! I’ll return your feelings…”

Your face was all red and you kept your eyes tightly pinched close. All you could hear was your crazily beating heart until you felt his lips touched yours an your mind went blank. Did he just-

You opened your eyes and confirmed that he did just give you the chastest kiss you’ve ever experienced.

“I guess that’s the part where I have to do that.”

“Yeah,” you just nodded your head slightly while looking so bashful all along.

In silence, you just sat there so stiff still couldn’t digest everything that’s happening now, when you felt his arm snaked around you pulling you close so that your head was resting on his shoulder. You looked up at him and a subtle smile appeared on his face—seeing you who’s as magical as a shooting star to him was the best in the world so far and you both wanted it to last.

“Is it okay like this?” Gaara asked and you squeezed your face onto his arm to hide your face. You thought he wouldn’t notice your grin, but he did.

March 2022 TBR

New month means new tbr!! March just so happens to be Women's History Month. I've decided to challenge myself to only read books written by women this month. So, without further ado, onto the tbr!

1. A Little Life (Hanya Yanigahara)

"A Little Life follows four college classmates—broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition—as they move to New York in search of fame and fortune. While their relationships, which are tinged by addiction, success, and pride, deepen over the decades, the men are held together by their devotion to the brilliant, enigmatic Jude, a man scarred by an unspeakable childhood trauma. A hymn to brotherly bonds and a masterful depiction of love in the twenty-first century, Hanya Yanagihara’s stunning novel is about the families we are born into, and those that we make for ourselves."

Ok so, I started reading this book last month and decided to just put it on this months tbr so I can feel accomplished. I am ready to cry.

2. The Bell Jar (Sylvia Plath)

"The Bell Jar chronicles the crack-up of Esther Greenwood: brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful, but slowly going under—maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath masterfully draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that Esther's insanity becomes completely real and even rational, as probable and accessible an experience as going to the movies. Such deep penetration into the dark and harrowing corners of the psyche is an extraordinary accomplishment and has made The Bell Jar a haunting American classic."

I'm so excited to read this!! My aunt gifted this to me and told me she thought I'd like it. I've heard mixed reviews so idk how to feel yet.

3. A Room of Ones Own (Virginia Woolf)

A Room of One's Own is an extended essay by Virginia Woolf. First published on the 24th of October, 1929, the essay was based on a series of lectures she delivered at Newnham College and Girton College, two women's colleges at Cambridge University in October 1928. While this extended essay in fact employs a fictional narrator and narrative to explore women both as writers and characters in fiction, the manuscript for the delivery of the series of lectures, titled Women and Fiction, and hence the essay, are considered nonfiction. The essay is seen as a feminist text, and is noted in its argument for both a literal and figural space for women writers within a literary tradition dominated by patriarchy

A feminist essay by Virginia Woolf. This one is so short that I'm probably gonna end up reading it in one sitting.

4. The Benefits of Being an Octopus (Ann Braden)

Some people can do their homework. Some people get to have crushes on boys. Some people have other things they’ve got to do. Seventh-grader Zoey has her hands full as she takes care of her much younger siblings after school every day while her mom works her shift at the pizza parlor. Not that her mom seems to appreciate it. At least there’s Lenny, her mom’s boyfriend—they all get to live in his nice, clean trailer. At school, Zoey tries to stay under the radar. Her only friend Fuchsia has her own issues, and since they’re in an entirely different world than the rich kids, it’s best if no one notices them. Zoey thinks how much easier everything would be if she were an octopus: eight arms to do eight things at once. Incredible camouflage ability and steady, unblinking vision. Powerful protective defenses. Unfortunately, she’s not totally invisible, and one of her teachers forces her to join the debate club. Even though Zoey resists participating, debate ultimately leads her to see things in a new way: her mom’s relationship with Lenny, Fuchsia’s situation, and her own place in this town of people who think they’re better than her. Can Zoey find the courage to speak up, even if it means risking the most stable home she’s ever had? This moving debut novel explores the cultural divides around class and the gun debate through the eyes of one girl, living on the edges of society, trying to find her way forward.
