Episode 1100: Even More Gear 5 Analysis
Oh my god i loved this episode. The Egghead animation style just lends itself so well to the Gomu Gomu no Mi and Gear 5 specifically. Look at him he's so silly :)
Tumblr media
These two moments from previous episodes show how gear 5 has influenced Luffy's mastery over his fruit (using gear 3 w/o Haki or going gear 2nd first) and consequently, how Gear 5 has affected luffy as well (luffy getting fired up over the holo-sweets)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of my favorite g5 moments are of luffy using Gomu Gomu no Rocket - like his big lightning-bolt playground moment in the Kaido fight :) Some people say Gatling is his signature move, but Rocket is the first one we ever see him use, and I think given how often he uses it day-to-day, Rocket is the move he's really perfected.
Using the fluidity and silliness of G5 to his advantage, you can see Luffy pulling out of the way of Lucci fast by coiling his arm up like a grapevine.
Tumblr media
This moment shows Luffy's mastery of Gomu Gomu no Rocket, because of how Luffy is able to let go of the antenna and absorb the recoil in a way that doesn't launch him into the sun. Recoil is one of Luffy's biggest advantages/disadvantages of rubber and i'm so excited that he really has a full handle on it now. Devil Fruits definitely aren't perfect, but it's the years of experience Luffy has that makes him feared as an Awakened Fruit user.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also loved Luffy's new whack-a-mole move - battle instinct is one of Luffy's strong suits, and I love how Awakening opens up luffy to a whole new variety of improvisation techniques! He's in a silly cartoon, and he loves it, but more importantly he understands it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This! This right here is what I was eagerly watching the whole episode in 0.5 speed for. Luffy uses the blur in his arm to speed it up impossibly fast, spinning the multiple points of animation so he can throw his entire body into that punch. Luffy is actively using the medium itself to his advantage - because the plasticity isn't an animation technique to him, it's all real.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is just an adorable Luffy moment, and we can see the confusion of trying to track a speeding Lucci physically manifest in his head-shake. Not like, a powers-relevant gear 5 moment, but i really loved it he's sooo silly! He's so powerful, but he's also still our Luffy :)

Little Bits and Pieces of Heaven
THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT BEING NOSY
One-shot #: 13
Disclaimer: One Piece (and its characters) belongs to Eiichiro Oda-sensei.
Reminder: I have no beta-reader. Any grammatical and spelling errors are solely mine.
Warning: OOC possible. One shot.
Rating: M (Not too much though)
Note: Because I always love Zoro-Nami-Usopp interactions, I went ahead placed them in one crazy situation where Usopp, obviously, takes the brunt of everything. And somehow I keep on hitting 7k words and up recently. Though I already toned this one down because the first drafts of this story wouldโ€™ve ended in a two-shot or even a multi-chap fic and I donโ€™t want to drag it that much. Anyway enjoy.
Summary: โ€œBecause poking your long nose in other peopleโ€™s business, is never a good thing.โ€ ย
Soft wind blew from the sea making the white curtains of the open window flitter lazily. The port and the nearby market started to come to life as the townsfolk poured into the street for their afternoon errands. Their noises drifted inside the rather inconspicuous room along with the lulling sound of the waves, making a smile appear on the lips of one engrossed observant. ย
โ€œWhatโ€™s amusing out there?โ€
Nami spun around to look at the speaker whoโ€”very obviouslyโ€”had just woken up, as he sat up on the bed, sleepily running a hand through his disheveled hair.
โ€œHmmโ€ฆโ€ she hummed in answer. โ€œNothing really.โ€
โ€œArenโ€™t you coming back to bed?โ€
The corners of her lips quirked up at that as their eyes meet. There was that familiar, mischievous glint in his that she always adored as it never fails to send a delicious shiver down her spine.
She smiled impishly at him and he in turn threw a cocky smirk her way.
โ€œNow that you are awake, yeah,โ€ she murmured before sauntering towards bed, never breaking their eye contact.
The moment she was near enough, he reached for her robeโ€™s belt, yanking her brusquely to him and simultaneously untying the knot as well. The silky fabric immediately slid down her shoulders to pool at her feet.
His rough hands grabbed her waist, effortlessly lifting her, only to friskily push her down the bed. The mattress dipped from their movements and she laughed when he playfully trapped her underneath his well-built physique; the blankets tangling around their legs.
He grazed her lips with his teasingly, before kissing her fully.
โ€œWe still have time?โ€ He asked huskily against her mouth, before moving to that ticklish spot just below her jaw.
โ€œI think we doโ€ฆโ€ she breathed, angling her head to give him more access.
โ€œGood.โ€ He muttered before attacking the slender column of her neck with soft, tantalizing kisses.
She moaned when he nipped at her skin, and gasped his name when he deliberately traced the shell of her ear with his tongue. She ran both of her hands through his hair as she felt him grabbed at her thighs, urging her to wrap them around him as he settled comfortably between her legs.
A sudden commotion outside interrupted them as shouting and loud, running footsteps can be heard all over the street. There was an unmistakable sound of explosion somewhere. Followed by another and another.
โ€œUuuhโ€ฆโ€ the orange-haired woman groaned irritably.
The man above her stopped his ministrations and stared at her amusedly with a smirk on his face. โ€œDuty calls?โ€
โ€œI think my captain just got himself into trouble again,โ€ she pouted. Planting a sweet kiss on his jaw, she looked at him slyly as she let her hands caressed his well-toned pectorals. โ€œToo bad,โ€ she said with a sigh as she lightly pushed him away from her so she could sit up.
His deep laugh filled the room and he leaned down to brush one last kiss on her lips. โ€œItโ€™s alright. We can always do this some other time.โ€
Nami smiled brightly at that. โ€œWellโ€ฆ I guess see you on the next island then.โ€
-------------------------
The galley of the Thousand Sunny that night was startlingly at its quietest. Dinner was put on hold for the meantime as Nami all but bit off the heads of their two nakamas; who were both sitting soundlessly on the galleyโ€™s couch like two children being reproached by their mother.
โ€œThatโ€™s it aho sencho!โ€ Nami hissed furiously, gripping the front of Luffyโ€™s red shirt tightly. โ€œThe next time you create a ruckus and gets us chased out of town again, I swear I will drown your sorry ass!โ€
Usopp watch edgily from the sidelines. He was one of the unlucky ones (aside from the cooking Sanji), who was in the galley the moment Nami entered while dragging Luffy and Zoro inside.
Luffy just grinned sheepishly in response to her. โ€œShishishi! But Nami, we did make it out of there!โ€ He tapped her in the shoulder in an attempt to appease her. But that only served to ignite the orange-hairedโ€™s temper more.
โ€œWE ALMOST DID NOT!โ€ Nami roared and clocked him with enough force to plant his face on the galleyโ€™s floor, almost breaking it.
Everyone present inwardly winced at the sound it made.
Usoppโ€™s eyes met Zoroโ€™s. The green-haired man seemed unfazed with Namiโ€™s anger. Most probably because he was used to it since he is usually the person at the receiving end of it.
But much to the sniperโ€™s surprise, he was just silent all-throughout Namiโ€™s outburst. Zoro kept his mouth shut with his arms folded across his chest. Not once did he answer back to the navigator.
Though Usopp had seen the way the corner of his mouth twitched slightly indicating that he was trying really hard to stop himself from snapping back at her.
From the way Zoro was looking, he was probably planning an absolutely painful demise for Nami right nowโ€ฆ if he still hadnโ€™t killed her a dozen times already inside his head.
He heard a huff from the kitchen. Sanji had busied himself with preparing their dinner, never once butting in like he usually did lest he join the other two morons on the couch.
โ€œServes you right, shitty gomu,โ€ he finally muttered, peering at them from behind the bar counter. He lit a cigarette and took a drag. โ€œThree times in a row. In every damn island. I canโ€™t believe it.โ€ He blew out the smoke with a slight shake of his head. โ€œWait I take that back. Actually I can since itโ€™s you.โ€
Luffy lifted his head off the floor. โ€œBut Sanji. Itโ€™s not my fault!โ€
โ€œShut up Luffy!โ€ Nami snarled. โ€œI donโ€™t care whose fault it is! I swear you piss me off so much right now!โ€ She closed her eyes, fingers rubbing circles on her temples.
She was forced to run all over the town earlier looking for her doofus captain. Much to her trepidation, Luffy was being chased by two different pirate crews for reasons she doesnโ€™t even want to know. ย
The navigator nearly got trampled when the idiot cheerfully ran towards her direction, waving at her enthusiastically, with the pack of enraged men still at his heels. If it wasnโ€™t for Zoro suddenly appearing out of nowhere and sending a powerful attack towards Luffyโ€™s pursuers that had them flying everywhere, she wouldโ€™ve been flattened beyond recognition.
Relief washed over her but it was short-lived. Before she can stop him, Luffy drew his arms back and released a Gomu Gomu no Gatling on the remaining pirates who were luckily at the far back of the horde they were missed by Zoroโ€™s attack.
She looked on in horror as other pirates arrived to help their fallen crew mates. Luffy and Zoro plus a horde of violent pirates in one placeโ€ฆ
It was a disaster!
Nami can only watch in dismay as the two dove head first into an all-out brawl before she can grab them by the scruff of their necks.
A vein popped on her forehead, then another and another. Not only did Luffy put a stop to what was supposedly an intimate and enjoyable afternoon. But here he is with the other idiot of the crew, in a scuffle that will flatten this town in a matter of seconds. Summoning Zeus, she unleashed a powerful lightning blast enough to fry everyone in the vicinity into oblivion.
Then she dragged the two by their ears just as the townspeople, who werenโ€™t caught in the crossfire, started amassing with clubs, wooden sticks and pitchforks (much to her surprise); eager to beat up the pirates who nearly destroyed their town. ย
The navigator let out an exasperated sigh and announced a bit wearily. โ€œIโ€™m going to take a bath,โ€ she turned towards the blond chef. โ€œSanji-kun, you can go ahead and serve dinner.โ€
The cook nodded. โ€œAs you wish Nami-san but how about you?
โ€œIโ€™ll eat later.โ€
Sanji frowned slightly at that. โ€œYou know that I donโ€™t like starting dinner if my lovely angel is not going to eat.โ€
โ€œUhm,โ€ Usopp choose to intrude this moment or all the boys will starve. โ€œRobinโ€™s probably hungry. She did a lot of book shopping earlier.โ€
That swayed the cook into action. โ€œAh my Robin-chwan! Of course!โ€ He cried out. โ€œGo ahead Nami-swan. Take a relaxing bath first! Do you want me to prepare it for you?โ€
โ€œItโ€™s ok Sanji-kun. I can manage.โ€ Nami said with a dismissive wave of her hand as she proceeded towards the ladder leading to the upper deck.
โ€œIโ€™ll prepare a special meal for you later my love!โ€ Sanji called out after her. โ€œJust take your time and wash away all the stress and worries these two dumbasses,โ€ he glared at Zoro and Luffy. โ€œGave you!โ€
Zoro scowled darkly at him.
Luffy automatically pushed himself into a sitting position when he heard the word dinner. Glancing at Nami with a sulky pout he complained, โ€œNami! Why arenโ€™t you also mad at Zoro?โ€
The green-haired man stiffened as Nami stopped in her tracks. Zoro glared at his captain for deliberately throwing him straight into the witchโ€™s wrath. He was not in the mood to start a row with herโ€ฆ that is why he kept mum all throughout her rant.
โ€œLuffy, I attacked to save her.โ€ He reminded his captain flatly. โ€œNot because I wanted to start a fight with them.โ€
โ€œBut you also attacked again to fight them.โ€
Zoro opened his mouth to retort but was interrupted by Nami clonking Luffy on the head. โ€œItโ€™s because Iโ€™ve exhausted myself too much on you! I will get to him later once I have enough energy again!โ€
As Luffy whined and nursed the bump on his head; Zoro grumbled curses under his breath, muttering that he shouldโ€™ve let the enemy pirates flattened Nami to the ground.
She turned towards him and smiled sweetly. Too sweetly it was actually bordering to scary. โ€œI heard that Zoro,โ€ she said through gritted teeth. โ€œHold your horses. I will make your fucking ears bleed later.โ€
โ€œThat couldnโ€™t be good,โ€ Usopp mumbled from across the table. A re-energized Nami would definitely wage a verbal war with the swordsman no matter what time of the day it is.
Zoro stood up and met Namiโ€™s gaze directly. โ€œHow about some gratitude for saving your ass onna?โ€
Nami scoffed. โ€œThank you for saving me Zoro! It should have ended with THAT instead of you two engaging in a fight! Argh!โ€ She shrieked at the green-haired man. โ€œI swear you and Luffy are absolute headaches! Iโ€™m not even halfway finished with my shoppingโ€ฆโ€
โ€œHow is that my fault woman?!โ€ Zoro seethed. โ€œYou had all day today toโ€”โ€
โ€œJust shut up Zoro. Iโ€™ll deal with you later.โ€ The navigator said exasperatedly. โ€œJust know that your debt and Luffyโ€™s went way past the roof today! Kami, I need a really warm bath to relieve all this stress!โ€
โ€œYou witch!โ€ The tall lad finally snapped at her.
Usopp gulped. Zoro seemed to have reached the end of his rope. From the way the two were now glowering at each other, theyโ€™re gonna start quarreling in a matter of seconds. No thanks to their stupid captain and his big, rubber mouth.
He stood up suddenly and before he knew it his hands slammed down the table, louder than he intended. That got their attention. Though he balked a little when Nami and Zoro shifted their gazes to him.
โ€œG-gu-guys! Please,โ€ he stuttered. โ€œCan we just eat? Iโ€™m already starving. Arenโ€™t you all?โ€ He swallowed the lump formed in his throat.
Luffy seconded his grievance. โ€œYeah! Sanji! Meshi! Meshi!โ€
Nami did not answer. Instead, with one final, furious look directed at Zoro then at Luffy; she turned her heel and headed towards the ladder again without another word.
Usopp exhaled in relief. That was close!
The door of galley opened and the other Mugiwaras started to pile in, probably aware that itโ€™s already safe to venture inside.
A smiling Robin tilted her head slightly when she entered. โ€œAraโ€ฆ Iโ€™m glad we donโ€™t have any fatalities tonight.โ€ She giggled behind her mouth as her blue eyes settled on Luffy and Zoro. โ€œI was afraid Nami will choke the life out of you two from the mรชlรฉe youโ€™ve caused in town earlier.โ€
โ€œRobinโ€ฆ you and your morbid thoughts.โ€ Usopp grumbled.
โ€œWell, disappointingly she didnโ€™t, Robin-chwan.โ€ Sanji said as he stepped out of the kitchen, balancing a tray filled with steaming dishes in one hand. He held out the other to take the archeologistโ€™s own and guided her to her chair. โ€œAnyway, dinner is served!โ€
-------------------------
โ€œNami?โ€
โ€œUsopp?โ€
The sniper and the navigator ran at each other on the lawn deck a few hours after dinner. Or to be more specific, Usopp was on his way to the galley to sneak some midnight snacks for his watch duty later when he ran into Nami, who looked like she just got down from crowโ€™s nest.
Usoppโ€™s eyes shifted towards the nest then back at her. โ€œDid you seriously climb up there to give Zoro a dressing-down?โ€
โ€œSo what Usopp?โ€ Nami folded her arms across her chest. โ€œYou got a problem with it?โ€
He shook his head. โ€œNone actually. Iโ€™m just surprised that it didnโ€™t end up in a spat.โ€ He scratched his head. โ€œKami knows how you two can go all night yapping at each otherโ€ฆโ€
โ€œI have my ways.โ€ Nami muttered grumpily. โ€œI told him if he piss me off anymore tonight, Iโ€™m gonna stab him with his swords while heโ€™s sleeping.โ€
Usopp looked horrified and scared all at the same time. Nami can be really freaking scary.
โ€œThatโ€™s horrible!โ€ He gasped and stepped away from her. โ€œWhy are you so mad at them anyway? Are you still not used to them starting trouble everywhere we go?โ€
The navigatorโ€™s face scrunched up into a frown. โ€œThatโ€™s not it Usopp! Iโ€™m just furious at them for ruining my afternoon!โ€
โ€œUhh okโ€ฆโ€ Usopp scratched his cheek. โ€œThey ruined your shopping or something?โ€
โ€œYou can say that.โ€
Usopp nodded in understanding. He knows how Nami hates going back to the ship empty-handed whenever there is a chance to shop. โ€œUh, speaking of shoppingโ€ฆ I havenโ€™t seen you in the island earlier. Where were you?โ€
โ€œMe?โ€ Nami raised an eyebrow at him. โ€œI was exploring the island. They have lots of shops and stalls after all.โ€ She looked at him curiously. โ€œWhy are you looking for me?โ€
โ€œItโ€™s just that I havenโ€™t ran into you. Not once!โ€ Usopp explained. โ€œI saw Robin twice and even she had not seen you!โ€
โ€œI think I may have wandered a little off the beaten path to survey the islandโ€™s layout.โ€
This time it was Usoppโ€™s turn to lift an eyebrow at her. โ€œWith no tools?โ€
Nami pursed her lips. โ€œWhy? Canโ€™t I do an ocular first?โ€
โ€œWell you can. Did you go alone?โ€ His eyes were wide when he asked her that question. He doubts if she can fair pretty well exploring on her own knowing how much of a coward she is.
โ€œWhatโ€™s with the hundred questions Usopp?โ€
โ€œNothing! I just find it weird that I didnโ€™t come across you earlier,โ€ Usopp explained with a shrug. โ€œI met everyone twice, even thrice, while looking around.โ€
โ€œWhy are you looking for me anyway? Do you need something?โ€
โ€œNot really. Iโ€™m just wondering why no one has seen you on the island. Itโ€™s like you disappeared!โ€
Nami huffed. โ€œLike I said, I was surveying and shopping. Our paths just didnโ€™t cross. Itโ€™s no big deal.โ€
โ€œWell I was worried something happened to you!โ€
โ€œDonโ€™t be such a drama queen Usopp. But thanks anyway,โ€ The navigator smiled at him slightly. โ€œIโ€™ll just turn in early tonight. Iโ€™m tired from all that.โ€
Usopp nodded. โ€œAlright. Good night Nami.โ€
โ€œGood night Usopp.โ€ She gave him a small wave as she started to walk away from him. โ€œOh and by the way, Iโ€™m charging you three hundred belis for every question youโ€™ve asked!โ€
โ€œOi! You money fiend!โ€ Usopp shouted. โ€œTake that back!โ€
But his retorts fell on deaf ears as Nami bounded up the stairs and disappeared inside the girlsโ€™ room.
-------------------------
It was two islands later that Usopp confirmed something.
Nami was acting really odd whenever they dock.
Just like before, he didnโ€™t run into her the whole time they were prancing around the island.
He didnโ€™t see her anywhere. Literally anywhere.
The only time he laid eyes on her was when she got back to the Sunny a bit later than usual.
And when he asked her about it again, he received the same answer as before.
She was surveying the island and shopping and stated in a rather condescending tone that the island was big that it is possible not bump into each other.
It was rather strange because when he saw her return, she was not lugging any shopping bags nor did he saw her spend some time in the library to sketch a rough draft of the island theyโ€™ve beenโ€ฆ something that she normally did whenever she does any visual map outs. ย
Besides, when did Nami window shop ever?
It was driving him nuts. What the hell is she doing? Why is she disappearing in every island they dock?
And more importantly, why is she not telling the truth?
He had been making lies all his life. The liar of course knows when someone is lying.
He made up his mind to find out.
-------------------------
The slight movement of the waves made the Thousand Sunny bobbed lightly above the water.
Up in the crowโ€™s nest, Usopp can feel the lazy movement of the ship. Usually it lulls him to sleep even when heโ€™s on watch.
But not tonight.
Tonight, a dozen questions were running inside his head. Questions that needed answers, itโ€™s not giving him a momentโ€™s rest. Questions that surfaced because of what he had discovered earlier.
โ€œUsopp?โ€
The sniper jolted out of his daze at the voice. Zoro had just climbed the nest to relieve him of his shift.
โ€œOh hey Zoro.โ€
The swordsman dipped his head in response. He strode languidly towards the bench and placed his swords there. He was grasping a bottle of sake in one hand which he obviously filched from the Sunnyโ€™s stock. ย
โ€œIโ€™ll take it from here Usopp,โ€ he said while removing his green robe. He threw it beside his precious katanas.
Usopp absent-mindedly nodded but did not move from his position.
โ€œUsopp?โ€
Zoro tapped him on the shoulder and his head snapped up to look at him.
โ€œHuh?โ€
โ€œI said Iโ€™ll take it from here,โ€ Zoro repeated, the impatience clear in his tone. He regarded him curiously. โ€œIs there something wrong?โ€ He asked when he noticed the sniper was not responding.
Usopp inhaled deeply. He doesnโ€™t know how to begin explaining it.
But the swordsman is a really keen observant. Maybe he already noticed something.
โ€œSay Zoro?โ€
โ€œWhat?โ€
Usopp looked up to him again. Zoro was chugging down almost half the content of the bottle. โ€œHave you noticed anything different with Nami lately?โ€
Zoro stopped drinking and was silent for a moment. Then he raised an eyebrow at him. โ€œDifferent?โ€
Usopp nodded.
โ€œI havenโ€™t noticed anything different with that wicked witch.โ€ He cocked his head to the side. โ€œWhy?โ€
โ€œNothing. It just kinda feels like sheโ€™s hiding something.โ€
The green-haired lad sat down beside him. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€
โ€œItโ€™s just that Namiโ€™s acting a bit weird lately.โ€
Zoro scratched his head. โ€œAnd?โ€
โ€œShe keeps disappearing whenever we dock in an island. When I questioned her about it, she said she was just out shopping and surveying.โ€
โ€œWhat seems to be the problem with that?โ€
โ€œShe returns without any shopping bags Zoro! Nor is she drawing any maps as of late.โ€ Usopp explained getting impatient himself.
โ€œMaybe you just donโ€™t see her doing it.โ€
Usopp stared at him as Zoro casually downed his drink. โ€œHas she been pestering you to be her pack-mule-for-the-day lately?โ€
โ€œNo.โ€
โ€œAnd donโ€™t you find it strange?โ€
โ€œNot really. Works for me.โ€
Usopp exhaled loudly. Figures. He had forgotten that Zoro have a soft spot for the navigator as big as an ant.
Silence hovered between them for a minute before Usopp choose to break it.
โ€œI think Namiโ€™s meeting with someone Zoro.โ€
That made Zoro pause with his sake bottle midway to his lips. โ€œMeeting with someone?โ€
The black-haired lad nodded.
โ€œThatโ€™s kinda, uh, vague?โ€
Usopp glared at him. โ€œSheโ€™s meeting with someone. Meeting. Like sheโ€™s seeing someone.โ€
โ€œSeeing someone?โ€ Zoro repeated.
โ€œYes!โ€
Zoro let the information sink in before commenting. โ€œFirst time Iโ€™ve heard of it,โ€ he brought the bottle to his lips to drink again. โ€œAnd what if she is? You jealous or something?โ€
โ€œNO!โ€ Usopp almost shouted. โ€œNo. Iโ€™m not!โ€
Zoro quirked an eyebrow at him.
โ€œMore of worried.โ€
โ€œWorried?โ€ The former pirate hunter looked like he was thinking. โ€œUsopp, whatโ€™s it to us if she is seeing someone? Itโ€™s her life and her choice.โ€
โ€œSheโ€™s keeping it a secret from us! Sheโ€™d been lying about her whereabouts and what sheโ€™s doing!โ€
Zoro snorted. โ€œAnd she canโ€™t?โ€
โ€œIโ€™m worried Zoro!โ€ This time Usopp pushed himself up and started pacing back and forth. โ€œWhat if sheโ€™s seeing a bounty hunter in disguise or a marine undercover? She could be in danger and she and all of us are none the wiser!โ€
โ€œNami can handle herself well.โ€ Zoro barely batted an eyelid as he said that. โ€œYou made sure of that when you made her that stick.โ€
Usopp frowned at him and the way he referred to his invention. โ€œI know you two donโ€™t usually meet eye to eye and that you couldnโ€™t care less if something happens to herโ€ฆโ€
โ€œOi,โ€ Zoro said in a warning tone cutting him off.
Usopp back-pedaled. โ€œOk, maybe you care a little. Sheโ€™s our friend after all. But Zoro, what if she canโ€™t handle it like youโ€™re saying? Sheโ€™s not as strong as you or Sanji or Luffy!โ€
โ€œWait Usopp calm down. And stop pacing damn it!โ€ Zoro rubbed a hand across his face. ย โ€œHow do you even know of this?โ€
That halted Usoppโ€™s nervous outburst. โ€œUhmโ€ฆ I mightโ€™ve followed her?โ€
โ€œMight have?โ€
โ€œAlright! I followed her earlier! Iโ€™m worried!โ€
Zoro let out a โ€˜tchโ€™. โ€œAnd? Is there a reason to be?โ€
Usopp wiped his forehead with his hand frustratingly. โ€œI donโ€™t know! Iโ€™m not sure. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m telling you! Maybe you canโ€ฆ help me?โ€
โ€œHelp you? How?โ€
โ€œYou knowโ€ฆ that haki thing?
โ€œHaki thing? But you also have it.โ€
โ€œI donโ€™t know how to use it!โ€ Usopp confessed. โ€œUnlike you, my hakiโ€™s not that developed. I can barely sense who sheโ€™s with inside the room.โ€
The swordsman held up one hand to stop him. โ€œWho sheโ€™s with? Inside the room?โ€
Usopp bobbed his head up and down and started to explain.
โ€œLike Iโ€™ve said, I saw her in town earlier and followed her. I saw her head towards an inn in the discreet part of the town.โ€
Zoro was now staring at him seriously.
โ€œShe went inside and I did too. I saw her head upstairs and knock on the door of one of the rented rooms. When it opened, she just went inside and thatโ€™s that.โ€
โ€œSo you didnโ€™t see who was there in the room?โ€
โ€œI didnโ€™t.โ€ Usopp shook his head.
The swordsman huffed. โ€œYou know, Namiโ€™s business is her business,โ€ he gulped down the remaining sake in the bottle. โ€œIf she wants to spend the day shacking up with someone, then she can without us meddling.โ€
Usopp blushed at that and Zoro shrugged at his reaction.
โ€œYouโ€™re worrying too much Usopp.โ€
โ€œAnd youโ€™re worrying too little.โ€
Zoro look irritated at that. โ€œI just donโ€™t like prying in other peopleโ€™s business. You know that. If you are really worried why donโ€™t you just ask Nami about it?โ€
โ€œAre you kidding? Usopp gasped. โ€œI donโ€™t want her to sic Zeus on me!โ€ He grabbed Zoroโ€™s arm.
โ€œHave you tried asking Robin? That woman knows everything.โ€ Zoro suggested. โ€œNami might have told her something.โ€
โ€œLike sheโ€™d tell me if she does.โ€
โ€œOk. Point taken,โ€ Zoro said, scratching his chin. โ€œThough she might have an idea if Nami is seeing someone we should be wary of.โ€
Usopp pouted. โ€œTrue. But I want to know myself.โ€
โ€œNow youโ€™re just being nosy.โ€
โ€œI call that being protective!โ€ The sniper retorted. โ€œZoro are we going to just wait for the day when she comes back here injured or she doesnโ€™t come back at all?โ€ Usopp argued. โ€œI want to make sure that whoever the hell is that, he is not gonna cause her any harm!โ€
The former pirate hunter was quiet. As much as Nami always rubs him the wrong way, thereโ€™s no way in hell he would sit back and do nothing once she gets hurt.
โ€œUsopp,โ€ Zoro muttered his name with an edge on his tone. โ€œLet me ask you again. Youโ€™re really sure she met with someone?โ€
โ€œUhmโ€ฆ yeah. I heard her talking to somebody while inside the room.โ€
โ€œYou heard?โ€
โ€œI kinda tried to eavesdrop.โ€
โ€œWhat did you hear?โ€
โ€œItโ€™s muffled. And they are talking in hushed tones I can barely make out what theyโ€™re saying.โ€ His face colored suddenly. โ€œThen I heard her giggle and there was a sound of the bed creaking or somethingโ€ฆโ€
The expression on Zoroโ€™s face was unreadable and they stared at each other awkwardly for a few seconds. โ€œUh,โ€ Zoro rubbed the back of his neck, looking uncomfortable. โ€œWhat did you do then?โ€
โ€œI waited up for her in the bar downstairs. Until she came out of the room and went back here.โ€
โ€œYou didnโ€™t think to wait up on who will come out of that room after her?โ€
Usopp cringed. Well he didnโ€™t think of that. โ€œIt kinda slipped my mind,โ€ he confessed sheepishly.
A snort came from the Supernova.
โ€œThatโ€™s why Iโ€™m asking for your help!โ€
โ€œUsoppโ€ฆโ€
โ€œWe are crew mates! I just donโ€™t want her getting involve with someone who might be dangerous!โ€
Zoro pinched the bridge of his nose. โ€œIโ€™ll talk to Nami.โ€ He suddenly announced and Usopp panicked.
โ€œNo! Sheโ€™ll have my hide if she finds out Iโ€™m suspicious of her and stalking her and herโ€ฆ I donโ€™t know what to call itโ€ฆ lover?โ€
The Mugiwara first mate grimaced at the word. โ€œThen what do you want to do Usopp?!โ€
Usopp grabbed both of his arms. โ€œJust come with me and figure out who sheโ€™s seeing and if that man is dangerous or not! That way we can protect her if need be!โ€
The swordsman sighed. Nami will have their asses for this. โ€œYou know talking to her is still the best way Usopp.โ€
โ€œCome on please! It will help me sleep at night! Besides Iโ€™m scared of her.โ€ Usopp proclaimed firmly.
Zoro rubbed a hand on his face. โ€œYouโ€™re a good friend Usopp. Even if youโ€™re poking your long nose where itโ€™s unwanted,โ€ he then smirked. โ€œAlright. Iโ€™ll help you.โ€
โ€œReally Zoro?โ€
The green-haired man nodded. โ€œWho else knows about this?โ€
Usopp looked startled at his question. โ€œUhm, just me. I donโ€™t want anyone else to know,โ€ he answered. โ€œThis is not the kind of thing you tell Luffy or heavenโ€™s forbid, Sanji.โ€
โ€œKeep it that way,โ€ Zoro advised. โ€œThe next time we dock, weโ€™ll see what this is all about.โ€
The sniper had tears in his eyes. He cannot help but wrap his arms around the tall lad. โ€œThanks Zoro! Youโ€™re the best!โ€
โ€œHEY! GET OFF ME USOPP!โ€
-------------------------
โ€œSo?โ€
He was immediately at the receiving end of a sharp glare.
โ€œI canโ€™t sense anyone with her Usopp.โ€ Zoro replied.
โ€œAre you sure?โ€ Usopp whispered.
Zoroโ€™s good eye narrowed dangerously at him. โ€œIโ€™m pretty sure.โ€ He crossed his arms over his chest.
They Straw Hats had just anchored in another island and Usopp all but drag Zoro to follow their navigator as she made her way into town. Honestly, he didnโ€™t know if it was a really good idea to lug the tall swordsman who always gets himself lost after three steps but he needed help.
Just in case it ends in a confrontation and Namiโ€™s lover is someone Usopp cannot defeat. He can just let Zoro do the honors.
And he gotta hand it to the green-haired man, even if he did managed to turn them around wrong corners and streets and almost lost the mapmaker they were tailing. Zoro was still able to find they place where Nami is.
Thank Kami for haki. Maybe Zoro should use it more often and avoid getting lost anywhere they go.
Usopp fidgeted nervously. They were in the inn where they saw Nami disappeared into. They headed straight upstairs, thankful that the innkeeper was preoccupied with a fight that broke out in the first floor bar.
โ€œMaybe the guy sheโ€™s seeing found out weโ€™re trailing her!โ€ The sharpshooter remarked fretfully. โ€œAnd since he doesnโ€™t want to reveal himself, he just stood her up! Oh Kami! Sheโ€™ll be in a pissed off mood later!โ€
โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Zoro clicked his tongue. โ€œIf you suck at tailing someone then yeah that is possible.โ€
โ€œI hate you!โ€
โ€œLook Usopp,โ€ Zoro ran a hand through his hair exasperatedly. โ€œMaybe heโ€™s just late or something. We better not be here in case he finally shows up.โ€
โ€œButโ€ฆโ€
โ€œTell you what. Iโ€™ll do the stake out here until Nami gets back to the ship.โ€ Zoro suggested much to Usoppโ€™s shock.
โ€œYou would?โ€ Usopp breathed out.
โ€œYeah,โ€ Zoro nodded. โ€œBut in return you buy me booze.โ€ He pointed towards the bar with his thumb.
Usopp stared at him.
โ€œFavor for a favor.โ€
The long nosed sniper sighed. He canโ€™t very well stay. If the man Nami is meeting already discovered sheโ€™s being followed, then he might not show up in the inn.
Maybe leaving it to Zoro is a much better idea. The man has razor sharp senses and he can sit tight in one bar drinking the whole stock empty but still be aware of everything and everyone around him.
This would definitely burn holes in his pockets. But he made it his mission. So he has to see it until the end.
Besides, if Nami sees him, it would only look like Zoro just randomly ended up in this establishment after getting lost in his wanderings.
โ€œAlright,โ€ Usopp agreed. โ€œBut you have to tell me everything youโ€™ll find out.
Zoro bobbed his head slightly. โ€œSure.โ€
โ€œAnd donโ€™t go picking fights with anyone.โ€
Zoro growled at him. โ€œIโ€™m not Luffy.โ€
โ€œWe have to find out who that man is ok?โ€ Usopp gripped him on both shoulders.
โ€œYeah, yeah. Whatever helps you sleep at night Usopp.โ€
-------------------------
The door of the room opened and Nami immediately swiveled around with a huff and marched towards the man who just entered the room.
โ€œSo?โ€ She asked, raising one delicate eyebrow.
Zoro locked the door behind him and met her impatient gaze with an amused one.
โ€œWhat happened?โ€ The orange-haired woman placed both hands on her hips as she waited for him to tell her the details of his afternoon with Usopp.
โ€œTold him Iโ€™d do the stake out and spy on you, the swordsman answered. โ€œThen send him off his merry way.โ€
Nami pouted. Zoro told her that Usopp was getting suspicious of her and her activities and that he followed her on the last island and actually saw her go inside an inn. โ€œI swear his long nose isnโ€™t just for show!โ€
Zoro laughed as he removed his swords, resting them against the small bedside table. He approached Nami and wrapped his arms around her.
โ€œUsoppโ€™s just looking out for you,โ€ he kissed her forehead. โ€œEven I couldnโ€™t get annoyed with him being nosy with that kind of reason.โ€ He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. โ€œHeโ€™s a good friend that much I can say.โ€
โ€œI know,โ€ Nami mumbled. โ€œAnd I appreciate his meddlesome self just this once.โ€ She rubbed her hands on his shoulders tenderly. โ€œHe didnโ€™t need to go this far though.โ€
โ€œHe just wants to know if you are seeing someone dangerous or a threat to your safety.โ€
Nami arched an eyebrow at that. Then a cheeky smile spread across her lips. โ€œI am seeing someone dangerous.โ€ She patted him on the chest.
โ€œYou are?โ€
She nodded and she pushed him towards the one arm chair available inside the room. He ungracefully plopped down on it and smirked when she sat herself on his lap.
โ€œYes,โ€ she murmured as she brought her lips closer to his. โ€œFormer bounty hunter?โ€ She kissed him light and fleeting. โ€œSupernova?โ€ She kissed him again, deeply this time. โ€œMore than 300 million bounty on his head?โ€ She grinned. โ€œDangerous.โ€
His hands roamed across her body freely, liking the way her silk robe was clinging tightly against her body and how it feels against his calloused palms. โ€œGuess he really have a reason to worry.โ€ He said in a gruff tone before capturing her lips with his.
She pressed her body closer to his. Zoroโ€™s one hand settled itself on the curve of her hips while the other grabbed at her nape so he can kiss her deeper.
Nami opened her mouth for him, coaxing him to slip his tongue inside and play with hers as her hands busied themselves undoing the sash that held his green robe.
She moaned in frustration when he pulled away to gaze at her. Her hands slid inside his clothing, pushing it down his broad shoulders as he started kissing her neck, his warm lips sending shivers all throughout her already heated body.
โ€œMaybe he deserves a thank you something for this after all,โ€ Nami whispered, raking her hands through Zoroโ€™s green hair. As much as it was irksome, she canโ€™t help but feel lucky that she have friends who looks out for her and has her back.
โ€œMaybe he does,โ€ Zoro agreed as he stopped showering her neck with kisses and instead moved to that ticklish spot behind her ear.
She grabbed a fistful of his hair and whimpered. That spot always drives her crazy.
Zoro suddenly pulled her closer to him, their nose almost touching as he stared at her with raw desire behind his gray eye. โ€œEnough about Usopp, weโ€™ll deal with him later,โ€ his voice was rough that it almost came out as a growl. His hand was caressing her backside. โ€œAre you naked underneath that?โ€
A Cheshire cat-like grin appeared on Namiโ€™s face at his question. She playfully removed herself from his embrace and stepped away from him.
โ€œWhy donโ€™t you find out?โ€ She mischievously walked backwards to the bed as he continued to sit on the arm chair, watching her intensely.
โ€œYou take the fun out of undressing you.โ€
โ€œWell maybe if you are here sooner you wouldโ€™ve been able to take all my clothes off.โ€
Zoro just chuckled.
โ€œDonโ€™t fret,โ€ Nami smirked at him, pulling at the knot of her robe. โ€œI saved one for you.โ€
She turn around, letting the garment drop down the floor and climbed on the bed, giving Zoro a full view of her irresistible bottom in lacy red thong.
She heard his breath hitched and the sound ignited every single part of her body.
The navigator swiveled her head to look back at him, teasingly and sexily, as her wild orange locks fell on one shoulder. Zoro was now on the edge of the seat, his one eye trained on her as he took in the sensuous sight. He was almost devouring her with his gaze as he ran a tongue on his lower lip, looking almost predatory.
Oh she knows how he loves seeing her on all fours, just as much as he loves seeing her spread out deliciously in front of him.
โ€œCome on Zoro,โ€ she called out seductively. โ€œAre you just gonna sit there and stare?โ€
-------------------------
Usopp grumbled as he trudged glumly towards his factory. The day had been an utter waste. And he was nowhere near getting any answers to his Nami-related questions.
He went back at the inn earlier to check on Zoro and the idiot swordsman disappeared on him.
How can one get lost while just sitting on the bar drinking? Gosh this is a whole new level of Zoroโ€™s getting-lost-talent!
Strangely when he asked the barkeeper if he had seen a green-haired man drinking within the vicinity, he said he did not have any customer like that.
The idiot swordsman tricked him into paying for his drinks and probably went into another bar!
So much for helping him out!
But when he saw Zoro in the Sunny before dinner, the swordsman gave him back his money pouch.
โ€œI wasnโ€™t able to use it,โ€ Zoro said, patting him on the shoulder. โ€œThanks anyway Usopp.โ€
โ€œWhy arenโ€™t you in the bar earlier?โ€ Usopp hissed at him. โ€œI went back and youโ€™re not there!โ€
โ€œWell, no one showed up,โ€ the green-haired lad explained with a shrug. โ€œNo use staying there waiting for nothing.โ€
โ€œOh,โ€ Usopp mouthed. โ€œOh my god! Namiโ€™s gonna be furious!โ€ He grabbed Zoro by the arm. โ€œWhere is she? Is she back here already in the Sunny?โ€
โ€œI donโ€™t know,โ€ Zoro grumbled.
Their conversation was interrupted by Sanji yelling โ€˜dinnerโ€™.
โ€œIโ€™ll talk to you later,โ€ Usopp muttered and Zoro just yawned in response.
โ€œIf Iโ€™m sleeping donโ€™t wake me.โ€ The tall lad reminded him as he headed towards the galley.
โ€œButโ€ฆโ€
โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Weโ€™ll talk Usopp. I just have nothing to tell you about earlier that will be helpful.โ€ Zoro grunted before leaving him on the deck.
Usopp sighed. Now heโ€™s back into square one.
He pushed the door to his factory open and stopped short.
There was rectangular-shaped box, gift-wrapped with an orange bow, resting quietly on his work table with a note attached to it.
He warily approached the gift and studied it. It was kinda heavy. He shook it a little, hoping to get an idea on what was inside. He glanced at the note and was surprised to see what was on it.
It said โ€˜thanksโ€™ in a very familiar handwriting. And as if to make sure heโ€™s not going to be mistaken as to who it was from, a mikan was drawn on the bottom right part of the paper.
What the hell?
A cold, clammy feeling suddenly enveloped him. And he started to sweat profusely.
Nami had found out! She mustโ€™ve caught Zoro earlier. Damn it!
-------------------------
Usopp made his way up the rope ladder to the crowโ€™s nest. He doesnโ€™t care if Zoroโ€™s asleep or not. He had some explaining to do.
He heaved himself up the metal rung and when he reached the top, he called out. โ€œZoโ€”โ€
โ€œHello Usopp.โ€
The sniperโ€™s eyes widened when he saw who was in front of him and he froze. What is Nami doing here? From the way she was standing near the hatch, Nami seems to be aware that he was on his way up.
His gaze shifted towards green-haired lad sitting casually on the bench, looking at him a bit smugly. Zoro mustโ€™ve sensed him and told the navigator.
Usopp all but stammered. โ€œI-I-Iโ€™ll just return later.โ€
Nami suddenly grabbed him by the nose and pulled him inside.
โ€œHey ouch!โ€ He cried out, slapping her hand away. โ€œLet go!โ€
The mapmaker relented and placed her hands on her hips, smiling wickedly at him. โ€œSo did you like my thank you gift?โ€
Usopp gulped from his sitting position on the metal floor while rubbing his nose. โ€œI havenโ€™t opened it yet.โ€ Actually, he did not have the courage to open it. He just stared at it as seconds turned to minutes before coming to a decision to head to the crowโ€™s nest and talk to Zoro.
Nami pouted. โ€œWhy? Youโ€™ll like it. I promise!โ€
That sentence scared him even more than Nami who was right in front of him.
Zoro was watching them from his spot, the amused expression clearly visible on his face.
โ€œZoro!โ€ Usopp suddenly yelped. โ€œI canโ€™t believe you told on me!โ€
The swordsman laughed at his accusation. โ€œI had too.โ€
โ€œYou didnโ€™t have too!โ€ Usopp growled at him. โ€œDid she caught you earlier and threatened you into confessing?โ€
Zoro scowled at that. โ€œShe didnโ€™t.โ€
โ€œThatโ€™s right. I didnโ€™t. He went and told me on his own volition.โ€ Nami suddenly leaned towards him so they were face to face. โ€œSo you were following me around recently?โ€
โ€œUhmโ€ฆโ€
โ€œBecause you want to know what Iโ€™m doing and who Iโ€™m seeing huh Usopp?โ€
Usopp refused to answer. After all when this is over, they would probably be fishing his dead remains on the seaโ€ฆ that is, if the sea kings didnโ€™t get to it first. He glared daggers at Zoro who was looking so calm for someone who was also involved with snooping on Namiโ€™s afternoon tryst.
Then it struck him. Zoro mustโ€™ve sold him out! He cannot believe it! He cannot believe he is capable of that. Wasnโ€™t he a man of honor?
Nami peered at his face when he did not utter any word. โ€œAre you still in there Usopp?โ€
โ€œI think Iโ€™m already dead.โ€
Zoro snorted at his response.
The navigator laughed. โ€œYouโ€™re exaggerating.โ€ She grinned cattily at him. โ€œYou really want to know who Iโ€™m seeing Usopp? From what Zoro told me, you already know what Iโ€™m doingโ€ฆโ€
The sniper blinked at her, startled by her offer. Then he blushed at her statement.
โ€œI will introduce you to him,โ€ Nami offered. โ€œSo you donโ€™t have to follow me around or exert too much effort spying on what I do. Kami knows what you might see.โ€
Zoro coughed at that as Usopp turned a darker shade of red.
Then his dark eyes shifted from Zoro then to Nami. And he realized something.
If Nami knows what he was doing because Zoro told her straight awayโ€ฆ
โ€ฆZoro mustโ€™ve known what sheโ€™s been up to all along!
โ€œI canโ€™t believe you Zoro,โ€ Usopp unexpectedly cried out, that Zoro was taken aback. โ€œYou shouldโ€™ve just told me that you knew what Namiโ€™s been up to!โ€
Zoro folded his arms across his chest, leaning back into the bench. โ€œWhy would I do that? Do you think I want her pissed with me?โ€
โ€œWhatever happened to loyalty?โ€
The swordsmanโ€™s face scrunched into a frown at his accusation.
โ€œOf course Zoroโ€™s loyal,โ€ Nami interrupted, huffing. With a roll of her brown eyes, she grabbed Usopp by the straps of his suspenders, dragging him towards where Zoro was sitting. โ€œHeโ€™s loyal to me.โ€
โ€œHuh?โ€ Usopp was dumbfounded. When did Zoro gave precedence to Nami over him?
Namiโ€™s grin was too mischievous for his liking.
โ€œSay hello to the man Iโ€™m seeing Usopp.โ€
Usoppโ€™s eyes widened and his jaw dropped off its hinges.
Zoro barely smirk and shook his head at their antics. He and Nami agreed that maybe it would be better to let Usopp in on the secret rather than watch him spiral down into anxiety.
The sniper spent the whole five minutes gawking at them. โ€œButโ€ฆ butโ€ฆโ€ he managed to stutter after a long while. โ€œYou donโ€™t even like each other! You always fight and never agree to anything! You actually cannot stand each other! How did this happen?!โ€
Zoro and Nami shared a glance.
โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€
โ€œIโ€™m so confused right now.โ€ Usopp declared with a shake of his head. He studied his two nakama who never in his wildest dream would eventually get together.
โ€œSorry Usopp,โ€ Zoro chuckled as he leaned forward. โ€œBut Nami and I agreed to keep this a secret. Though I really appreciate that youโ€™re looking out for her.โ€
โ€œAnd I hope this helps you sleep at night,โ€ Nami winked at him before settling down beside the swordsman.
Usopp closed his eyes. It feels like someoneโ€™s playing a joke on him. Nami and Zoro? Of all the strangest things to ever happen in this side of the New Worldโ€ฆ
โ€ฆ THIS tops it all.
โ€œAnd now that you know our secret,โ€ Nami wagged a finger at him as she tucked her legs under her. โ€œYou are going to help us keep it that way!โ€
Usoppโ€™s eyes widened. For heavenโ€™s sake! How was he going to keep this a secret? It nearly drove him crazy when he was keeping his mouth shut about Namiโ€™s strange behavior. And he actually went to Zoro to talk about it.
Because he cannot fucking keep it to himself!
Now THIS?
This is a nightmare!
And Nami seems to be aware of his dilemma because the grin on her face when she rested her head against Zoroโ€™s shoulder was purely too evil.
This is what he got for poking his long nose into her businessโ€”their businessโ€”regardless of the reasons.
Heโ€™s now in on their secret.
And this secret๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ
He realized with a sinking feeling.
โ€ฆ Is gonna be hell to keep.

ZoNami Prompt 9/???
๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŠ Panicking When One Finds the Other Drunk ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ’š
โ€œN-Nami?โ€
โ€œHuh? โ€ฆOh, heeey, Zoro! There you aaare โ€“ I was waitinโ€™ aaall this time!โ€ Her laughter was a lot bubblier, her bodyโ€™s poise a lot looser, and her attitude a lot lessโ€ฆpresent.
To say he was shocked was an understatement, and not the entire truth. Roronoa Zoro was partially disappointed to find Nami so very inebriated when he arrived at the bar they had planned to meet at. She never went out of her way to seek his company, and so he had been curious as to what had motivated her to invite him out that night.
When the guys told him it was a โ€˜dateโ€™, he rebuffed them over and over again.
โ€ฆUntil he started walking towards the place, because then it started to sink into his usually thick skull that maybe โ€“ just maybe โ€“ they were right. In fact, so nervous and excited and nauseous was he that Zoro even stared at the glowing sign that read โ€˜Crookโ€™s Lookoutโ€™ sticking out from the side of the building, refusing to look away from his target until he arrived to make sure that he wasnโ€™t late.
But of course he was, despite his best efforts.
And what did he arrive to see?
โ€œNami,โ€ sighing with displeasure, the swordsman walked over to the navigatorโ€™s side and offered his hand. โ€œyouโ€™re way too drunk now. Letโ€™s just head back to the Sunny, all right?โ€
โ€œWhat!?โ€ The mere suggestion that she leave the bar offended her so greatly, her voice hitched as if he had slapped her in the face. It actually gave him great pause for fear that he somehow might have! โ€œLeave!? Bu-But I was waitiiingโ€ฆfor yooou!โ€ Her angry drunken persona revealed itself then as she began to slam her fists all over his forehead.
โ€œOi! That hurtsโ€”โ€
โ€œYโ€™uh got looost didnโ€™t you!? You were sooo late! I wa-wai-ted! Stupid Zoro!โ€ Hiccuping or sobbing, he couldnโ€™t tell what was happening to her as she delivered her supposed justice onto him. He didnโ€™t so much care that people in the bar were most likely staring at her exaggerated display, but rather, that he had come all this way and was more than likely going to be refused a drink because of all of the ruckus she was making!
Deflated and enraged, Roronoa Zoro did the only thing he thought he could do to save himself: he tossed Nami over his shoulder in one quick motion. A hush fell over the entire place then, curious eyes wondering what was happening to the poor drunk girl and the angry-looking man who was supposedly kidnapping her.
While Nami whined in protest and wiggled about, Zoro turned to the barkeep. โ€œDid she already pay for her drinks?โ€
โ€œUh,โ€ the older woman took a moment to find her words. โ€œNot all of them, but Iโ€™ll let it slide this time. She was pretty upset while she was waiting on her date to arrive. Sheโ€™s been here for almost three hours, you know.โ€
โ€œI-I never said he was maโ€”โ€
Irritated now by both the barkeeperโ€™s scolding and the insistent wiggling woman over his shoulder, Zoro patted the back of Namiโ€™s thigh twice. โ€œShut up already! Letโ€™s go.โ€ And off he went, heading out of the Crookโ€™s Lookout in order to return them both to the awaiting Thousand Sunny and its crew.
He could hear her mumbling to herself as he walked โ€“ something about โ€˜revengeโ€™ and โ€˜buttโ€™ and โ€˜Gomu Gomu no Gatlingโ€™, for some reason โ€“ but Zoro ignored it for the most part. Instead, he focused more so on the fact that he had a drunk Nami over his shoulder at the end of what was supposed to be a rather enjoyable night. The guys had ruined it by putting ideas in his head about a โ€˜dateโ€™ and all that romantic garbage, putting pressure on him like that. So had the bartender, apparently, given that she referred to him as Namiโ€™s date as well!
โ€ฆBut wouldnโ€™t that have meant that Nami had called him herย date, when talking to the old woman?
A little louder now, Nami whined in a very unsteady voice, โ€œI haaate you, Zorooo!โ€
โ€œYeah, yeah.โ€ Was his bland reply, as all of his joy was bottled up knowing she couldnโ€™t see the blush on his cheeks in the moonlight.
