Let's talk about the price of gold. Like everything else, it's been shooting up throughout the pandemic. Hell, in the past few weeks alone, it's gone up again. What does that mean? To put it plainly - gold prices will continue to rise, making jewelry more costly. The pandemic has also driven more sourcing to the internet, rather than in person. So, competition is fierce (no, I'm not telling you where I find things 🔪), special pieces scarcer, and sweet spot pricing even scarcer. What does that mean for buyers? Remember that, historically, jewelry is a good investment. But, don't expect to see last year's pricing on this year's finds. Don't send a seller that listing you found on Google that sold God-knows-when-but-the-seller-didn't-remove-the-listing expecting the same price. Do, however, use it as a benchmark, consider gold weight (although antique pieces are priced also according to rarity and details) and remember that, it will likely increase in value and, like a Victorian lady leaving her husband to run away with a young lover, you can sell it if in a bind and have quick access to cash. With that said, the diamond/ruby watch, Findley's canine and the bolt ring I have now rolled into my personal collection are NFS. But! They're great, versatile pieces that you can wear alone, double up to wear longer or extend with bolt rings or dog clips or extra chains.
