They were finally out of that godsforsaken city. Sidhiel stood on the deck of the ship, her hands flat on the rail as she watched the city drift past them. Celegaew sat nestled in a coil of rope sitting atop a barrel beside his master, gazing up at the woman as his feathers ruffled in the cool breeze. “Was it really only four days?” She asked him quietly, the disbelief in her clear as the rising sun. “It felt like an eternity..”
“My wings agree with you,” Celegaew offers in an attempt at humor. His master chuckles, looking to him with a little smile. “Things will get better now. Goldensky was a lot nicer to us than these last places were. Maybe our friends are still there?” His head cocked to one side and then the other, his head bobbing up and down as he regarded the elven woman with mild concern.
“Maybe. But I doubt it, I told them not to wait for me.”
“Why?”
“..I wasn��t sure how long this would take...do you think that was a mistake?” She frowned again.
“I can’t say whether it was or not, all I can say is you’ve been unhappy ever since we left Goldensky. And I don’t like that. Things will get better now. I’m sure.”
The corner of Sidhiel’s mouth twitched up in a slight smile now. “Maybe..I certainly hope so.”
