This is your opportunity to share a random Danny headcanon you have floating around in your head:)
The reason his pen is so chewed up is because he keeps trying to quit smoking. Hard to be a peak predator if you start wheezing when you run. Plus cigarette butts being left around with dna evidence on them?
He however keeps failing, because boy needs his stimulants. But for someone who values his self control like Danny? Highly irritating.
(Nicotine withdrawal Danny is not a fun person to be around.)

You should spill your thoughts more on the vibes of slasher x final girl; it’s giving me something to chew on for my own Danny/OC fic haha
I’m rabid about the idea that they just upturn everything—a disgusting happy little accident that turns what they thought was important to them upside down and now it’s trying to decide if it’s wed, bed or behead?
*SLAMS HANDS ON TABLE* OKAY SO HEAR ME OUT--
I've said it before in an absolute word vomit here but I'll say it again: I love a Slasher that is so utterly out of their depth when it comes to experiencing genuine human connection that they're forced to rely on their homicidal instincts/habits for comfort.
Obsession at first sight is always a classic, but something that's also peak is a Slasher falling head over heels without even realizing it. They've begun stalking their Final Girl, as they do with all their victims, learning her routines, who could be potential victims by proxy, tease her with close encounters -- the whole shebang. They never realize that they've almost started watching her...without an ulterior motive? There's no reason they need to know what her favorite flowers are or how she likes her coffee or what she wears to bed, but they do anyways.
And then that moment when they finally, finally have her cornered and in their grasp, the end of a well drawn out hunt, they find that they suddenly can't go through with it. It's a very inopportune realization to have. All the work they've put in stalking and harassing her, picking off the people closest to her one by one, it comes to a screeching halt in their mind. She's trembling. She's frightened. She's bloodied and teary eyed and begging so sweetly when she's not fighting for her life. Of course, it's every Slasher's favorite sight to behold, the prize to be won! Yet there's something different about it this time...not regret, per se, not mercy.
They want her like this all the time. They don't want this moment to end with a blade to her throat like every other victim before her. And just as much as they love to see her petrified under them, they also want to see more of the times she's smiled and laughed and bat her pretty little lashes (all candid moments they witnessed from afar, mind you). They want her, just her. But they want her alive.
It's this moment of confusion and inner turmoil that allows the poor Final Girl to slip out of their grip and escape to the sequel, and the Slasher spends an embarrassing long time processing this new development. They've never experienced such a whiplash before. It felt like bloodlust, but not quite. They still felt the same type excitement when she shivered and pleaded for her life, watching her struggling and feeling her heartbeat again them. Killing her though? Not an option. In that moment, she became the most addictive feeling and they'll be damned if they let her get away again. She's better than any drug. She's all the fun and none of the mess, although does she still look damn good in the resulting mess regardless.
There is a hierarchy of needs and she is at the very top. They need to touch her, feel her squirm, hear those lovely little whimpers, taste her fear -- at the same time, they want to know what it feels like to have her lean against them, flash them that soft smile she gives everyone else who don't deserve it, kiss their cheek and promise she'll never ever leave them. They legit feel like they're on a high when she's around them and withdrawal symptoms are a real bitch. If they can just find a way to keep her by their side, they'd be set for life between the rush of a killing spree and the addictive effects of her fear/love...

So I was reading your meta about Meredith's mistakes on AO3, and I was wondering about your thoughts on how a mage Hawke who sides with the templars fits in to how the nobles of Kirkwall view the Chantry? Would you say that effectively the nobles are making an exception purely due to the fact that Hawke is their Champion and also a noble (despite their apostate mage status making any inheritance of the Viscount title questionable)?
Thanks for the question! In short: yes. They are making an exception. Mage Hawke has already been The Exception since the end of Act II. Particularly if they fought the Arishok using magic. Everyone knows Hawke is a mage at that point, including Meredith. (And if I remember correctly, her dialogue indicates that she knew before. Either she simply hadn't caught up with Hawke yet, or they weren't important enough to be a priority, or it wasn't worth the hassle of antagonizing a newly-restored noble family.)
The Chantry and the Circle have always allowed Exceptions. Wilhelm, Wynne, Ines Arancia, Vivienne--all exceptions, and all for similar reasons. They accept Chantry authority, vocally support the Circle system, and do public work that uplifts the Circle's reputation. A mage Hawke who supports the templars has done the same. They've restored order while preserving the existing hierarchy of both Chantry and aristocracy, even at the cost of their fellow mages' lives, and for this they are rewarded with unprecedented power, for a mage--so long as they continue to toe that line.
Mage Hawke becoming Viscount is not unlike Vivienne becoming Divine. They're both mages taking full advantage of the exceptions they have already been allowed, and stepping in to fill a power vacuum while the Chantry is at a weak point (with the loss of Elthina in DA2, and the loss of Justinia in Inquisition).
The nobility of Kirkwall will allow it for the same reason the Grand Clerics will allow Divine Vivienne: because despite the unusual circumstances, they see this individual as a fundamentally stabilizing force, who has already demonstrated their commitment to preserving established power structures. And because there are few others willing to step up.
(And I think those two endings together would make for a fascinating world state. I might play it sometime.)

Hey there! I was wondering if you'd ever consider updating your aspiration calculator to include a LTW calculator? With lamare's new LTWs/the LTW chooser, it means we could have a setup a little bit similar to ts3, and might help to make sims even more unique?
Hey @goldenbloodytears
I did have a plan once to make an LTW calculator once I started using Lamare's ltw mod, however in time I thought it would have been too much work for something that others wouldn't be interested in.
Maybe after I one day fix up the trait calculator design to become more user-friendly then I'll give some thought to doing a LTW calculator. 😊

Hey Frank what do you think are some potential ramifications of artificial intelligence that the "mainstream media" doesn't talk about?
In addition, do you think robots should have more rights? What about humans? Is the measure of how one determines a man versus machine inherently flawed? After all, we are effectively just machines of bio-matter, so what's to stop a metal-man from being well... just as human?
Frank usually doesn't talk about AI. If you want to know Frank's opinion on robots and AI, ask me. I've been thinking about the issue a lot, and have a paper in the works on the topic.

A general Danny-centric fic focusing on a murder of a female victim.
I wrote this back in October 2019, prior to the release of the Ghostface tome if memory serves me right.
Figured I’d give this a post here.
I think there’s little changes I would make to it now, but for a tight 2k words I think it’s pretty fucking good.

replying to this here @goldenbloodytears because I'm v sorry but this got uhh long because, while I am not an expert on vocals or anything like that, I do have some examples as to how I guess, I personally perceive the Papas' voices.
I just really love this man and his voice, in all iterations. And the rest is under a read more because I feel bad about putting this on people's dashes as one giant block of text asdlkfsjd
Also, Spillways got me into Ghost, so for the most part, I first had experience hearing Copia's voice, which is, yes, sort of nasally, I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, though. Tobias talking about how the Copia character is less "experienced" maybe (I can't remember the exact wording atm) in the Loudwire interview he just did, makes the nasally thing sort of make sense even though I know it's logically bc the mask fit does it to him. Copia's voice being nasally and different from the other Papas who, when we got to know them, they were already elevated into their position, it'd make more sense we get a polished sound with them vs Copia who started out as a Cardinal and later became Papa, hence less "experience". But this is just me trying to find an in-universe reason for it other than idk man has a deviated septum or something.
ANYWAY, so, back to the topic of Secondo sounding more like Tobias than the others---
Tobias has a really nice voice, and there's this certain thing that it does that I am not musically talented enough to put into proper words, but okay, so, House of Affection is arguably the Tobias Forge song, it's him singing it, not as a character and it's in the chorus mostly, just the tone he uses. It's that airy sorta higher, not necessarily a light sort of sound but it sort of goes up. I'm doing a very bad job at describing this haha. I don't have the right words for it, but it's this all encompassing sound.
This Ritual performance that Secondo did also has that same sort of sound. You can hear it especially in the chorus bit, it's higher, he sings upwards, I guess? Much like in the chorus of House of Affection, it's a very, at least to me, similar sort of thing.
And there's a good video that sort of goes through Primo, Secondo and Terzo's singing through the years, which is here and I think that also gives a very good indication that like Secondo's voice is very close to Tobias' voice.
Primo's voice is sorta...deeper, I guess, is a good way to put it. When he begins the chorus of Ritual you can hear how much lower he's doing it, like he absolutely does not sound like Tobias to me.
Secondo's voice, for the purpose of me comparing it to Tobias' is like, an almost dead ringer, if I were to hear Secondo sing and then Tobias sing as himself then I would be able to tell they were the same person, just because of the way Secondo would like, project? His voice, it's pretty similar vocal wise to other projects that Tobias has worked on.
Terzo's voice in this video example, it's growly, like he really got that gravel sort of thing going on really good and if I didn't know any better, I'd think that Terzo was someone else entirely. He also puts on a like sorta of thicker accent? You can hear him roll his R's more in songs and such.
Like all of this is not to say that he doesn't sometimes slip up and sing sort of like himself, because he does. He did it during HellFest this year because he was losing his voice and I think overall that was just easier for him than to try and sing nasally.
Once again, here's a compilation I found of the first three Papas singing Ritual, but like together? It's really interesting to listen to because you can hear the differences better like this I think.
Just for the sake of me not using only one song, but Secular Haze is the same way to me. Like, obviously he's singing the song without a mask in the studio versions, so I'm using only live versions of the songs.
The first time I listened to Infesstisumam, I was sort of blown away by how much different it sounds from Opus Eponymous. And then once I got into some of Tobias' other projects, one day Secular Haze came on my playlist and I had to like, pause for a second because I was like "oh that's Tobias. That's him."
Like the man is very very good at changing his voice up each era and everything and I don't think it's extremely noticeable unless you're like focusing so much on voice differences, but the overlaps are there and he does sound really close to himself obviously with somewhat of an accent, but it's there.
As for Terzo's acoustic performances, he doesn't sound like Tobias, like to an extent, Terzo also has a sort of nasally sound, and you can hear it pretty well in Jigolo Har Megiddo, esp when he gets higher, and like honestly I think Terzo and Copia are the two who sound the least like Tobias when you compare them.
Also, like, there's this performance of He Is where his voice is deep which just, in my mind is so far from Tobias that I'm not sure who that man is other than Terzo.
It's not to say, again, that Terzo has never sounded like Tobias, because he has, and that's just a thing that happens sometimes, but like it's not as consistent as Secondo sldkfs.
Another example of y'know, Tobias, so we're not just going off of House of Affection is the Me and that Man song he featured in as Mary Goore, it, to me, gives me sort of like, Secondo vibes in terms of the voice? And like it's not live but studio so it has that more pronounced sound than a live vocal one I guess.
This clip of him performing live with Subvision his voice does that upward, sort of projection thing that when you listen to Secondo's performances, it's really really close to that.
The man is amazingly talented, and he knows how to change his voice and do little things to each Papa so they don't all sound the same, so when you know it's time for a new Papa, you're like "oh what's he going to sound like?" both music style wise and vocal wise.
This also got very out of hand, for a silly little post, I'm so sorry, once again, but your reply was just such a good question.
tldr; secondo and tobias are twin brothers
:)

I can’t brain the thoughts so here’s an opportunity to share another headcanon about Danny or something you’re considering for your fic! :)
Right now my main thought about Danny is that ye's gonna murder me because I've been cheating on him with another old man. (Finally upgraded my pc and got to play some games I've been missing out on; and Johhny Silverhand has me in a chokehold 😅)
But have a lil headcanon that's been brewing in the back of my head.
Danny dying his hair is totally for secret Jed identity reasons. He's not vain over a couple of grey hairs. Totally not. Yup.

Follow up question lol
How do you feel about moral corruption in relation to the final girl? It would depend on the plot of course, but in the right situation where she’s slowly turned (or alternatively revealed) to have similarities to the slasher?
I find it an interesting way to challenge the traditional notion of the final girl being a bastion of purity against the awful malevolence of the slasher.
Furthermore, I feel like it’s a potentially interesting reflection on the slasher themselves depending on whether it becomes a flipped script—she’s even worse and he has to survive her! Or the alternative where they’re “happily” together in bloody matrimony (not necessarily with actual marriage Ofc)
Ooooohhh...a gaslight gatekeep girlboss...we love to see it
I really like exploring this idea a couple of ways:
A) It ultimately ends with the Slasher being killed by the Final Girl after it's been revealed that she's equally, probably even more so, deranged than him.
Her naive and sweet exterior was all a facade that she purposely flaunted to lure in victims, and it just so happened that one of the people she attracted was a serial killer assuming she'd be the perfect target. And in all fairness, she really hams it up too when she realizes what's going on -- extra helpless, extra cute, all while having the perfect cover of "a slasher is killing everyone around me please save me!!" when, in fact, she's the one doing 80% of the murders and simply blaming it on him. It's too opportunistic!
When the Slasher finds out, he's...honestly flabbergasted. He's always been the mastermind of torment, and here he is, played like a damn fiddle. But now he's a loose end, it's no fun when he knows her tricks. It's going to be the most sexually tense bloody showdown of the century, because he surely knew deep down there was a reason he was so attracted to her, and she clearly likes the thrill of killing all the same. Still, in the end, she gets to live and go crying to the media about just barely surviving the ordeal while all her crimes are pinned on a dead man.
B) The Final Girl is lonely, painfully an outcast, whether it's true or simply how she poorly perceives herself. She wants to become someone's obsession, she wants someone to want her no matter the definition of the word. Her solution? Become the pinnacle of a final girl -- innocent, pure, "a smile that lights up the room" kind of bullshit. She's purposely tailoring herself into the preferred victim of a rampaging Slasher in the hopes that she'll be targeted, just so that for one brief moment she can imagine what it's like to feel wanted.
It's probably going to end with her getting maimed and/or killed, but maybe then she'll be even more loved in death as such a tragic victim. Maybe if she survives people will crowd around her with their well wishes, regardless of how superficial. The only person who's aware of her plan is...the Slasher himself. Sure, she initially peaked his interest as intended, but now that he's truly stalking her, he's seen what she's genuinely like behind closed doors. Lonely, vulnerable, literally asking for it. He's never had a victim want to run into him, he can't help but be intrigued.
What else is she willing to do in order to appease him? What are the lengths she'll go for his affection? Well, what better way than to find out?
B2) Again, lonely and isolated Final Girl, suddenly finding herself caught up in the Slasher's rampage as his latest obsession. She wishes she could say she's terrified, and she is!! But also this...this is the first time a guy has ever gotten her flowers, even if they're from someone else's grave. This is the first guy to not leer at her, to have a clear vendetta against anyone around her that usually tries to start shit. It's wrong, she knows it's wrong, she knows she should call the police and run for the hills and feel bad for all the innocent people around her being slaughtered.
But when he's standing in her kitchen in the middle of the night, drenched in blood, holding out a gift for her like a puppy dog waiting for approval, she can't help herself. She starts cleaning up the blood he tracked on the floor so that there's no trace of him. When he corners her somewhere, she urges him to go at the sound of police approaching, then tearfully tells them the opposite direction he went. She lies and covers for him even when she really doesn't mean to, even when it's to the risk of other people. Cleans up his messes, destroys evidence, fakes alibis. Can anyone really blame her when this feels like her one and only chance of experiencing something genuine?

Something I was thinking about, but do the bios for Lucille and Thomas hint anything for their parents ages? I've always thought that Lady Sharpe's portrait looked rather "old" because she looks like she could be my 80 year old grandmother in the picture, but we know Thomas and Lucille were only 12 and 14 when she died (with Baronet Sharpe dying before that iirc)... Do you think the Sharpe parents were just much older than most when they had their children? Like for comparison, Mr. Cushing is only turning 60 but Edith is in her early 20s, and he looks much younger than Lady Sharpe. I guess Lady Sharpe could also be aged from the stress of an abusive husband... There's also the doylist idea that somebody fucked up somewhere. What do you think?
The bios say that Beatrice married James (the Parents Sharpe) when she was 30 in 1860, so someone definitely fucked up. Because that would make her 49 when Lucille murdered her in 1879, and even truly NUCLEAR stress aging couldn’t make her look like the portrait at that point.
But to be fair, the bio math is all sorts of weird given canon: Lucille and Thomas are said to be 32 and 30 respectively, but Thomas’ birth year is later than Edith’s. Carter’s father is mentioned as having fought in the American Civil War during Carter’s childhood, but if Carter would have turned 60 in 1901, he was born in 1841 and thus already in his 20s during the war.
Mostly I take birthdates from the bios and scrap years/stated ages if they contradict the actual movie. The newspaper clipping says Beatrice was killed in 1879, when her children were 14 and 12? Cool, well, per Carter’s checkbook it is 1901, so now they’re 36 and 34 and were therefore born in 1865 and 1867 respectively. And so on.
In keeping with that, I tend to assume that Beatrice was like…IMMEDIATELY pre-menopausal when she had Thomas. Like. 49. Plus 12 equals 61 when she died, and at that point, the stress could well have made a crone of her (as you say). James was canonically quite handsome despite his monstrosity- apparently the siblings take after him physically; Beatrice was blonde before she went gray -but nothing is said about his age. He died in August of 1876, though, per the news clipping- when Lucille was 11. Babby’s First Murder. Though in fairness, he HAD almost choked Thomas to death just beforehand.
(Fun fact: Eleanor was 18 when she married Carter. She had several miscarriages before Edith, but that still means she was likely only in her early 30s when she died. Ouch.)

About the YouTube issue with pro and anti shippers...
Lindsay Ellis DID get accused of being “pro-pedophilia” a few years back. She’s managed to survive that, but she received significant harassment around I want to say 2018??
Oh, for sure. Ellis gets all kinds of harassment and has for years. (I don’t keep track of when the spikes are.)
It remains the case that when she talks about things like a/b/o, she does it in a way that shows her discomfort with other people’s weird porn, and she appears to think her own book is weird for... an alien/human ship? Or something?
(Newsflash: monsterfucking is like the least edgy Weird Kink Taste ever. Same with shipping transformers.)
She just shows a lot of signs of cringe culture insecurity with her own and other people’s fun. People who suffer from this problem often interpret reasonable boundary setting (”No, teenage anti, you don’t get to bully me”) as embarrassing and over-invested. because...
We are not ashamed of our hobbies.
“Arguing with children” and the other shit Sarah Z and such people say has a subtext of “How dare you not admit you’re cringe?” I get a strong vibe off of Ellis that she thinks it’s okay to like weird stuff, but you should be faintly self-deprecating and embarrassed about it, and if you aren’t, you haven’t grown up.
It’s okay, Lindsay. You can ship Phantom/Christine. And stop using Reylos as a punchline.
