What if Chichi died from the heart virus instead of Goku….
So I made this AU a long time ago but haven’t drawn it till now. Have a short fic in the writing with this concept but who knows when I’ll finish it lmao. Other than that, I see saiyan lore potential that Vegeta will share with Bulma that sort of explains Goku’s need to distance himself from everyone after Chichi’s death.
Saiyans are a ‘mate’ race, and since they initially were conquering planets (pre-Frieza), they usually died alongside their mates. So this left little possibility of one dying off on another planet while leaving their spouse/mate behind. It’s unusual for saiyans to die before their other partner, they are a pair species so they usually share the same lifespans anyways. This leaves Goku devastated and instinctively in a depression, along with the exception that he also isn’t like other saiyans, the usual saiyan would t*ke their own l*fe but he is just trying to process the grief of losing her so suddenly. Vegeta has only seen this instance happen like twice when he was younger and with his father handling it and explaining to him the biology behind it.
As for Gohan, he is devastated and goes through denial for a solid month until Goku decides to leave him with Vegeta and Bulma. He has to deal with his grief in his own way and without the help of his father, which makes him resent him for a small time until he finally comes to terms with his mother’s death and tries to understand his father and what he might be going through. On the bright side he learns a lot from Vegeta while he stays with his family and grows up for a bit with Trunks. Trunks starts to view Gohan as an older brother during the time he’s with them and they remain close later on in the story.
Everyone else (all of Goku’s other friend’s) is surprised and shocked at the news and they each feel guilty for not attempting to connect with Chichi beyond surface level interactions but they soon appreciate the little moments she shared with them before her untimely death, leading them to believe and later on confirm that she knew she had the virus.
Goku takes years to try and improve himself and find ways to provide for and raise Gohan before he finally takes him out of Vegeta and Bulma’s hands. The two are awkward at first but they quickly comfort each other before they arrive back in their lonely home where they last shared a moment with her.
Overall very angst lmao. Also Goku and Gohan are wearing versions of Chichis outfits, Goku is wearing the light green version of the gown I have Chichi in a previous art I made, Gohan is in her signature purple outfit.

Fun Fact: Goku is not the main protagonist of the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai. My favorite thing about this arc is its perspective flip on who Goku is and what he means to the story.
The Muten-Roshi first introduces the idea of the Tenkaichi Budokai at the start of Goku and Krillin's training.
In typical Goku fashion, Goku doesn't understand what they're talking about and yet is probably gonna win 'cause. Y'know. Goku. The arc leading into this made a pretty compelling argument that Goku's all but invincible and unstoppable. He's a strange little monkey boy who breaks everyone that goes against him.
Fitting his role as an adaptation of Sun Wukong.
Going into this, the Muten-Roshi lays out what he wants the boys to learn:
Roshi doesn't want this to be about vanity or self-indulgence. The tournament on the horizon is simply a motivator. The philosophy he wants to instill in these boys is Dragon Ball's core theme: The yearning for self-improvement.
Having something you're improving yourself for can be useful in keeping you on track but the focus is on the journey to get there, not the destination. Goku and Krillin aren't supposed to win the tournament. They're supposed to sharpen themselves into the kinds of people who could win the tournament.
...but it quickly becomes apparent that Roshi's methods will need some adapting to work with Goku's... Goku-ness.
Goku is a beast. Teaching him is going to be an ordeal.
This sets up a significant conflict to come. Not a conflict for the characters, but for the story: How do you even have a tournament arc for a character like this? Goku was created to be a funny little guy who eats challenges for breakfast.
So the day of the tournament comes to pass, and we're introduced to the "enigmatic" Jackie Chun.
It's not hard for the audience to tell who this man is, but the kids are fooled and that's what counts. At this time, we're still primarily in Goku and Krillin's perspective. Hoo-wee, this here tournament sure is gonna be a humdinger!
(That's Goku. That's what Goku sounds like. He's a backwoods hick who speaks informally and irreverently with a rural accent. I genuinely wonder what Goku's reception would have been like if his dub acting had faithfully reproduced his dialect.)
We stay with Goku through Krillin's first match.
While Jackie's first match seems poised to set him up as the archrival to be beaten.
Roshi's first match here seems set up to demonstrate how tough he's going to be to beat. He's the final boss of this tournament. Goku's going to need to take him out in order to overcome.
But Goku's first match, on the other hand, reminds us that Goku's been nerfed ever since the end of the previous arc. Losing his tail messed up his balance and he's been off ever since.
Everything we've seen from him during their training and the preliminaries was Goku fighting at a handicap. As of this moment, the gloves are off. The Monkey King is back in full form.
This is all good tournament stuff. We have a powerful rival, the strongest opponent around that Goku could possibly take on, but we've been given more than enough reason to believe Goku's up to the challenge.
We're inclined to root for Goku because he is our main protagonist. We're experiencing this world through his eyes. He wants to win the tournament. So we want him to win the tournament. We like it when characters we like succeed.
The semifinals are... interesting, through that lens. Four contestants are left: Goku and Krillin, as well as Jackie Chun and Namu. But Jackie's match with Krillin doesn't go by so easily as his fight with Yamcha.
Against Krillin, the Muten-Roshi has to work for it. Krillin's underhanded style brings him a hair's breadth away from victory. To win, "Jackie's" forced not only to reveal his ability to perform the Kamehameha, but also to introduce the Zanzoken/Afterimage technique for the very first time.
Though Goku pierces the illusion instantly. This fight shows us that the Muten-Roshi has his limits. Krillin didn't tax those limits too hard but this was still a harder fight than you might expect. Further, nothing he did here is shown to be truly threatening or ominous for Goku's chances.
Quite the opposite, even for the Zanzoken that clinched the match, we see Goku follow along just fine. He's gonna be alright in the finals.
By contrast, Goku's match with Namu sees him effortlessly dominate. He's invincible, he's unstoppable, and the closest he ever comes to defeat is when he accidentally dizzies himself from spinning around too much.
Goku eats Namu alive. He takes the best Namu has to offer and gets right back up without a care in the world.
It's the end of this match that lays out who the underdog in this upcoming match actually is.
Roshi watches Goku eat Namu for breakfast and he comes away shaken. Rather than wondering if Goku has a chance at winning this, we're left with the impression that he can't possibly lose. Goku is too strong, he's too invincible, to ever possibly lose this.
And it's here, in the wake of Goku's unbelievable shitstomp of a semifinal round, that the switch occurs. Because now that we've laid out that Goku is invulnerable, that Goku is almighty, that Goku's triumph is inevitable... suddenly, Roshi lays out the stakes of this arc.
If Goku wins this tournament, Roshi fears that victory will go to his head. He'll become proud and complacent. An arrogant brat with more power than he knows what to do with and no will to learn. Looking ahead to characters like Tenshinhan or Piccolo or Vegeta, characters who only began to work on themselves once Goku humbled them and gave them mountains to climb, it's easy to understand what he's talking about.
Though Roshi later questions whether this was really necessary, right here in this moment, we feel it. Just like that, the entire perspective of this arc has flipped. We move into the finals not wondering if Goku will win, but staring down the barrel of the invincible and unbeatable protagonist we've known from chapter 1.
The Monkey King Son Goku breaks every opponent that comes before him. He can't be beaten. He can't be stopped. He is all-powerful and invincible and an instant master of any technique you come at him with. He's absolutely favored to win this thing after that semifinal.
And for the sake of his development as a person and as a martial artist, the greatest master that our world has to offer, the man who would seek to educate the impossible, must. Take. Him. Down.
Jackie Chun is not the final boss of this tournament. The final boss is Son Goku.
The final match of the tournament is a Sisyphean ordeal, as Roshi breaks out every tool in his toolbelt only to be stymied at every turn by the sheer impossibility of Son Goku.
You can feel Roshi's growing frustration as Goku matches and overcomes everything in his path, devouring Jackie Chun as he devoured Namu in the preceding match. Whether that means matching his, the old master's Kamehameha:
Or one-upping his Double Zanzoken with a Triple Zanzoken:
With each passing chapter, we are experiencing Goku through the lens of an adversary. Rather than being privy to Goku's private monologue, it's Roshi whose thoughts we sit with as he tries again and again to find an answer to this impossible foe.
Every chapter (but one) ending the same way: Roshi tries. Roshi fails. Goku learns and analyzes and internalizes Roshi's abilities, making himself stronger. And Roshi's back gets closer and closer to that wall.
A fun playtime for Goku and the fight of his master's life.
And when Goku finally, finally goes down, we feel, viscerally, how hard this battle was fought. Roshi pulls this off only by the skin of his teeth; A victory that is, in its own way, as desperate and nail-biting as the battles with Vegeta or Piccolo or Majin Buu, despite the smaller scope.
You can feel Roshi's spirit dying inside as Goku asks that. But the job's done. The lesson has been implanted. The shape of Goku's future has been forged.
And the things he learned here today are values he will carry with him for the rest of his natural life (and beyond). That is the triumph of the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai.
...whether or not it was actually necessary to go this far, on the other hand, is left up in the air.
We can't ever truly know the results of the choices we didn't make. But the choices Roshi did make on this fateful day would become the first step in shaping the greatest martial arts master in the universe.

OMG CONGRATS ON 6K FOLLOWERS BACON 🥓💙. So for my first request I would like #14 (how much do you want to c*m?) with person A being let's see...Goku Black 😳please? and can it be Goku Black asking the reader that said question?🥺👉👈
event here.
warnings: smut, vaginal fingering, mentions of blowjobs, Stockholm syndrome, kidnap victim, victimhood, rough vaginal fingering, orgasm denial. word count: 0.9k pairings: Goku Black x Fem!Reader prompts: Person A: How much do you want to cum?
You never wanted to convince yourself that you were okay with this. You wanted to protest against it and make it known you’d be rescued. But the more the days would go by, the more you were coming to terms with the fact that nobody would hear your cries for help and that nobody would be coming to bust you out of this room. This is where you were going to stay here forever.
Goku Black had taken a liking to you the moment he laid eyes on you. He knew he’d never find another good plaything like you. While you believed yourself to be killed the second he grabbed you, he surprised you with lewd whispers and caresses to make your body shudder.
You were thrown into a room filled with a bed and a few things to keep you entertained. It became quickly known that you were Goku Black’s little plaything. He intended to keep you as a sexual partner, a hole to use. Nothing more, nothing less. The only issue with all of this is that you made it difficult for him to do more than to get you to give him a blowjob. You weren’t ready to give yourself up to such an evil person. Yet you were beginning to enjoy the so-called torture he was inflicting upon you. You were finding pleasure in the way he would groan and growl as you learned how to pleasure him with your mouth. It had been so scary the first time, but the more you did it, the more you found yourself wanting to make him cum so good.
Goku Black hadn’t intended on developing some feelings for you either. It surprised you that he actually seemed to care about your purity. You had told him the first night that you didn’t want to have sex, and he actually listened to you. Something about that pitiful pout made his heart wrench in guilt. He decided to wait it out, show you all kinds of different ways to pleasure him at first. If he got you comfortable with pleasuring him, maybe you’d come around wanting to have sex.
You thought about your strange relationship with this man as you soak in the tub. Strange as it may be, you find yourself wanting to make him happy. That’s why you’re soaking in this tub full of rosewater and the lovely scents of other flowers. You’re trying to make yourself desirable. It’s such an odd feeling for you, but you know that deep down you’ll never leave this place. So it’s only natural that you try to enjoy this.
He enters the room while you’re resting on your bed. You’re not wearing anything, which makes him smirk. He’s quick to grab you by the ankles, pulling you down to the edge of the bed. Your head whirls with emotions as he plants a searing kiss on your lips. Your tongue can barely keep up as he shoves his own into your mouth, rubbing against yours.
“Such a sweet little thing,” he says with a cackle. “You did all this for me, huh?” he asks about the sweet scent and the softness of your skin.
You swallow hard, “yes, my lord…”
He smirks at you again. He’s trained you so well. You’re becoming his little fucktoy, and it won’t be long before you’re just begging to have his cock deep inside you. For tonight, he was going to show you pleasure so that you may slowly become more comfortable with all this. Goku Black spreads your thighs, grunting at the sight of your little cunt.
“Mmmm…” he groans as he leans in to get a whiff of your scent.
Two of his fingers rub up and down your wet folds, making you jump up and yelp. Just the reaction you made makes his cock throb. Oh this is going to be so much fun for him. He knows he’ll render you into a whimpering and begging mess. He can’t wait to see your face all flush for him as he brings you to your peak.
Before you can even sink into this pleasure, he brings those fingers to your lips. Your eyes widen at the gesture.
“Suck!”
You don’t even hesitate, your lips part to suck on his long digits. You can taste yourself on them, making you part your legs a little more. You’re desperate for this attention and pleasure now, which makes Goku Black laugh at you. Then he shoves those two wet fingers deep inside your waiting cunt, thrusting them in and out at a brutal pace.
“I knew you’d become my little whore,” he grunts in your ear. You cry out as he bites down on your neck. Already your walls are clenching around his fingers, and you cant your hips forward for a little more pleasure.
Your head falls back as you fuck yourself on his fingers. Your breath comes out shallower as the pleasure builds more and more. It’s like someone has lit a fire in your tummy. Goku Black has you exactly where he wants you, and he’s about to pull out his best move. Just as your walls begin to clench around him signaling your orgasm, he violently pulls them out of you and leaves you panting.
“W-why’d you do that?!”
Goku Black laughs, “I wanna hear it…how much do you want to cum?”

How does Littlebug even know how these men are Bad Dads?
I mean it seems, to me at least, that she learned about them before she went to their universes.
Another day, another upload from Littlebug.
No one knew how she or Chaton got the doll avatars to work or look so lifelike, but their avatars were adorable and THEY were adorable and everyone went nuts over them.
It was especially fun to be there for her livestreams. Sometimes she asked questions from the chat. It was pretty evident from some of these questions that she was quite young and some of the viewers were a bit worried about her being safe and what she could be exposed to, but most of the audience seemed on board with protecting the little virtual stars, so they all seemed to have made an unspoken agreement to avoid more mature or inappropriate things.
Not that they had much to worry about. Mama Noire had apparently set a filter on the chat to keep it child friendly. And anyone who started getting too mean for Littlebug's taste would be quickly booted from the livestream. For a kid, she certainly knew how to manage things. And she certainly didn't tolerate bullies.
Though it seemed there was something else she didn't like if her recent query to the chat was any indication.
hello Frends Outside! i hav a qestion?
She was adorable and still learning. And of course they all wanted to help where they could.
wat are some Bad Dads you know of?
The chat was confused, but of course wanted to help.
Loveybug997: Bad dads? Like real or not? DJhatman: If we're talking real, then Gabriel Agreste for sure. Captain56: Let's not go real or we'll end up in a flame war and Mama Noire will be unhappy. Nachohead: Yeah, Papabug JUST got released and is able to play Animal Crossing with the kids again! Don't take that from us! kimjustkim45: Are we talking like in cartoons and anime? Or games? ninjapaste2: Oh! Then Mr. Doofenschmirtz! Definitely! adrienagresteishawt00011: ooh ooh!! yeah he is the worst! insertnamehere2823: Ozai! From avatar! He burned his son's face in an "honorable duel"! SupermanFTW: Do they all have to be villains? Because I gotta say, have a bit of a beef with Son Goku for some of his stunts. I mean, throwing his son into a fight against Cell with NO warning? COME ON! Vladdyfan37: Jack Fenton!I mean he keeps making things that can kill his son! And was responsible for his son dying! # Vlad would never GokuIsBetter: @ SupermanFTW You just mad because Goku would kick his butt. AND be a better dad than he was to Superboy. Captain56: Guys no, this is the opposite of what we want. Let's just focus on the question.
And so answers poured in.
A List was forged.
And Littlebug smiled.

In defense of Chichi
ChiChi gets very little credit and recognition as a martial arts teacher and martial artist herself, just look at how Goten is not only well trained but apparently has much better emotional training than Gohan. Both Piccolo, who is from the Namekian warrior class, and Goku, who is a Saiyan (and now after the film Broly we discover that he is also from the warrior class, as the film shows that there are Saiyans who are not of that class, will that side " Gohan's nerd" came from this characteristic of Saiyans?), they hope that Gohan, being half-Saiyan, discovers his warrior instincts on his own and with him comes an instinctive willingness to fight and he an emotional control, which apparently, none of the two needed training, as it is innate to them, and both assumed wrongly, each in their own time, that Gohan would have it. And even though Goten is a child - 7 years old - during the Buu saga, despite being younger than Trunks and having less strength (by a very small margin) and not knowing how to fly, he has more emotional control and better controls his impulsiveness, better than Trunks, who has been shown to be worse at this than his Future counterpart even. Future Trunks isn't exactly excellent at doing this, he also shows this trait of impulsiveness that present Trunks has, so much so that much of his apparent "control" is very well portrayed as a product of reluctant and hasty anxiety (read : trauma) - the same one that makes him step forward and attack Cold and Frieza before Goku arrives and retreats in the face of Vegeta's stupid decisions - it is very well characterized that he only "controls himself", in an unstable way, because he was pressured by necessity to survive, because of his brutal reality, and because he has not been properly trained, his "control" is a result of trauma and the need to survive that his present counterpart does not have (and it is funny to see how exactly by not being anxious like future Trunks is, that present Trunks is so impulsive LOL). And Trunks' decision-making process is as bad as Vegeta's, the difference is that he makes terminal decisions because he doesn't have the desire Saiyan for battle and because killing quickly is the only safe decision he knows, All of the rest he is not sure of absolutely anything, insecurity that present Trunks does not know, he is sure of everything, because he is rich, spoiled and has everything, which is why his impulsiveness runs wild. ChiChi gets very little credit for how well Goten is trained and disciplined, especially emotionally, as he doesn't have the insecurity about fighting that Gohan had. It is true that he was not pressured by the need to survive and learn to fight in a hurry like Gohan and Future Trunks, and it is exactly this pressure that harmed their ability to make decisions in moments of pressure, which Goten did not do in the Buu saga, when ChiChi died, he wanted to take revenge, but he quickly recovered and accepted Piccolo's guidance, to train more and become stronger. He is not taken by the fear of inexperience and not knowing what to do in a battle, the moment arrived and he did not lose his there, not even when he was already pressured by Gohan's apparent death and after ChiChi's death when Buu killed in front of your eyes. As I don't have the patience to make prints of manga scans, and there would be MANY IMAGES, if you want to check them out, the chapters will be listed below, read them and draw your own conclusions: 354 - Future Trunks impulsively attacks the androids when Vegeta has his arm broken, scaring Piccolo and putting his life at risk, he does the same thing as his 8-YEAR-OLD counterpart from the present
~466 (Buu Saga) - His present counterpart does the same thing, but it's more understandable, here Trunks is 8 YEARS OLD compared to his future counterpart's 17/18 years
381 - Vegeta makes the stupid decision to let Cell complete himself by attacking Trunks, Krillin here is no better, and Trunks only decided to act when it was too late, even though he knew that Vegeta was terrible at making decisions.
383 - Trunks at least considered himself stronger than Vegeta and Krillin says he knows too, as he has more experience in sensing the power of others, but Trunks decided not to interfere in the battle and kill Cell before he was perfect because he didn't want to hurt his pride. Vegeta, and it was disastrous, because once Cell found 18 he was very efficient and Trunks didn't stand a chance. here Krillin even points out his subservience to Vegeta. (which lack of affection doesn't do, it clearly shows your lack of emotional control)
384-Trunks showing a little more how bad he is at making decisions, and only because he wants to preserve Vegeta's Pride.
Boo Saga
488 - Here it shows how Gohan, when he loses control with the Supreme Kai, and almost wastes the ritual (and only calms down because he sees that the old man wasn't bluffing), and being older, has less emotional discipline than Goten, who in the same chapter sees ChiChi die right in front of him and manages to control himself after hearing Piccolo's warning (Goten is still able to follow instructions here, when Gohan barely does so and his later fight with Buu only proves this) and begins his training immediately, while Trunks is more bothered by food, it shows how ChiChi trained Goten very well (and Gohan already went through a similar experience on Namekusei),
Goten is 7 years old and doesn't lose control at the risk of ruining everything, and it's not because he's more mature or makes better decisions or has more experience (as shown by Gotenks), it's because he has emotional control and has been well trained by Chichi. Chichi deserves more recognition!
Bonus:
366 - Read this chapter, it shows that Chichi is not as irrational as TOEI made her seem, she allows Goku to train Gohan and asks him to make him as strong as possible.
371 - Check out the cover, LOL. Future Trunks is just as rude as his present counterpart LOL, the animation makes him very "clean" and polite, but he's not so much LOL, he's just submissive.
377 -Read this chapter, Goku ISN'T DUMB, he learns when it suits him, he even remembers details when it's about things that interest him.
387 - Here he demonstrates all his experience and accumulated knowledge as a martial artist
Buu Saga
470 - I love Bulma's parents, they love animals and wouldn't leave them behind. It has nothing to do with it, but I couldn't help but notice it!
479 - Goku's dirty deal, LOL, he is neither innocent nor stupid LOL. The Supreme Kaioshin here talks about the 25-hour ritual! LOL, Gohan can spend hours studying yet another ritual he can't handle. LOL. Goku is a terrible decision maker, but he knows how to get what he wants.
492 - Goku teasing Shin LOL, he makes fun of anyone when he can.

Ngl I’m starting to think about how funny Zamasu and the Goku Black clones would react to reader not knowing certain things because of their horribly poor world they grew up in
Black clone: You are our chosen one, can’t you see?!
Reader: what does this even mean?!
Zamasu: just think of this like those weird fantasy books you humans loved to write.
Reader: I don’t think I’ve even been able to touch a book with how rare they are, what are you talking about?!
Clones and Zamasu: EXCUSE ME WHAT-
Cue Zamasu and the clones forcing reader to learn basic reading/education skills
Reader: searching for food outside
Clones: what are you doing? Zamasu can create food at will, we don’t have to find it.
Reader, seeing said food: HOW- THAT’S SO MUCH!
Zamasu: That’s literally just an average portion for a human… how in the great Zeno are you still alive???
Reader: Wow, I sure hope nothing bad comes out of me exploring new territory that hasn’t been explored in centuries! :D
Clones: dw you’ll be fine :D
Reader: thanks WAIT-
Reader flees Zamasu and the clones and is found with a whole handmade tent already set up and a campfire already cooking some food
Zamasu: how did you set this all up so quickly???
Reader: what do you mean, it’s a basic skill everyone learns as a kid?
The clones: SO YOU CAN’T OPEN A BOOK AND UNDERSTAND A SINGLE WORD ON THE PAPER BUT YOU CAN DO THIS?!?!
I think you'll be witnessing my mental breakdown every time I post
The first thing that came to my mind:
I'm sorryyyy I literally don't know what to say

Paring: Goku X F Reader
Rating: Matureish (contains sexual themes)

Agreeing to do this favor for Bulma may be one of your worst decisions yet. The security alarm for one of Capsule Corp's units in the countryside has been going off for the past few days. Since Bulma and her father have been so busy recently, they haven't had time to check it out. While you were helping Bulma work on her most recent project, you jumped at the chance to get the hell out of there. When Bulma can't figure things out quickly, she gets frustrated, and yells, a lot. And it's usually directed at the person who happens to be in her vicinity. And unfortunately, today, that's you.
While discussing the details of your trip, Goku walks into the room, muttering something about how Vegeta broke their gravity chamber... again. That only seems to make Bulma angrier. You didn't even think that was possible. In an attempt to calm her down, Goku speaks up. He's been dealing with Bulma's temper for much longer than you have. "So what are you guys doing here anyway?"
"There's an issue with one of our capsules. The security alarm keeps going off. So Y/N is going to check it out for me. No big deal." She places her hands on her hips, glaring at Goku before he can even speak. "And don't even think about asking me to fix the gravity chamber!"
"What?" Goku furrows his brows at her, his eyes widening. You're not surprised. Telling Goku, he can't train is like telling a normal person they can't breathe.
"I won't be able to do that for weeks. I'm really busy with
work. Which is something you'd understand if you ever actually got a job! So you and Vegeta are just going to have to deal!"
"That's not what I meant. You're sending Y/N? Alone? Isn't that kinda dangerous?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" You cross your arms, narrowing your eyes at him.
"It's just that you're human... and kinda weak... you haven't trained in years. What if there's someone bad there... someone like Frieza?"
"Goku." You sigh. "Frieza has been dead for years now."
"I said someone like Frieza. What if there's someone bad there? What if you get hurt?"
"Goku! It's probably just a mouse or something!" Bulma shouts. "Besides. Y/N is strong and capable. I'm sure she can handle it."
"But what if..." Before he can even finish his sentence, Bulma cuts him off.
"No! Don't even think about it!"
"Please! I'd feel a lot better if I could go with her. Plus, there's nothing to do here anyway. I'd be so bored. Come on, Bulma."
"Bulma." You groan. "Just let him come along. Plus, that would get one Saiyan out of your hair while you work. And you know Goku, he'd just come anyway." Even the hypothetical possibility of a battle is enough for Goku to want to tag along. You're not even surprised.
"Fine. But you have to keep an eye on him at all times. There are a lot of prototypes there. And I don't want him breaking anything." She turns to Goku. "You hear that! You're not allowed to touch anything!"
"Ya, Bulma, I got it." He nods.
You and Goku head off in opposite directions so you can pack for the journey. You'll only be gone for a few hours, so you don't need much. You've learned that it's best to be prepared. Once you're done packing, Goku meets you at your place.
"I know you don't like instant transmission. But can't I just fly us there instead?"
"Absolutely not."
"Aww, come on. Why not?" He pouts.
"Because the last time you dropped me!"
"I caught you, didn't I?"
"Just before I almost got crushed to death!" You glare at him. "We're taking my car. If you don't like it, then you don't have to come."
Goku sighs. Fiddling with his hands. "Fine." He grabs your bag, placing it in the trunk of your car. While he's doing that, you hop into the driver's seat, waiting for him to finish. Goku moves into the passenger seat, putting his seat belt on. "So, how long is this going to take?"
"Around Three hours."
"Three hours!" He roars. "We could get this done in minutes if you'd just..." He stops speaking when he meets your deadly gaze. "Uhm... this is good too."
The drive was as terrible as you thought it would be. A young child would have behaved better than the Saiyan. You lost count of how many times he asked you the infamous phrase, "are we there yet?" And everything only got worse when you got to your destination. Much to Goku's disappointment, there was no real threat at the capsule. There wasn't even a mouse, just a minor malfunction with the security system.
By the time you finished fixing the security system and Goku did one final sweep of the capsule, it was already dark out. You didn't think everything would take this long. While you are distracted, Goku walks up behind you. "You ready to go?"
"Goku!" You yelp. "Don't sneak up on me like that!"
"Sorry," He holds up his hands. "I forgot how jumpy you are." He chuckles to himself, only adding to your irritation.
"I am not jumpy!" You snarl.
"Whatever you say, Y/N." He picks up your bag, but you grab his shoulder before he can take it anywhere.
"Wait!" He turns back around, a look of concern appearing on his features. "I- I don't like driving in the dark." You mutter inaudibly.
"What did you say?" Great. You're going to have to repeat it.
"I don't like driving at night!" Your face flushes. You thought it would be light out by the time you left. You definitely underestimated how long this would take.
"Oh," He presses his lips together. This puts both of you in a predicament. Goku doesn't have his license, so he can't take the wheel. Instant transmission makes you nauseous, and flying is out of the question. So you're stuck. "Well, we can just crash here for the night. When I was a kid, I used to sleep on the floor at Master Roshi's place. So this shouldn't be too different." This is one of the many things you love about Goku. You've never met a man as sweet and caring as he is. Sure, he can be a bit of an airhead... but he's a loveable airhead.
Morning comes before you know it. You can't believe how fast you fell asleep on the hard floor. You may have felt uncomfortable, but you've never felt so safe in your life. Goku's presence alone is enough to put your mind at ease. You wake up first, rubbing your eyes, still half asleep. You stretch, slowly getting up. You pack up your stuff, shoving everything in your bag. Knowing Goku and how impatient he can get, it's best to have everything done before he gets up. To save your sanity.
You should probably put your bag in the car too. One less thing to worry about. You place your bag over your shoulders. Heading straight for the door. You open the door only to find a wall of snow. "Fuck!" You scream, slamming the door shut before any snow can get in. How the hell did you sleep through a snowstorm so massive that it was able to cover the entrance of the capsule.
"What's wrong?" Goku instantly appears behind you, furrowing his brows.
"We're trapped. That's what's wrong! It wasn't even supposed to snow, and now we're practically buried in it." Goku pushes past you, opening the door himself. Once his eyes land on the wall of snow, he swiftly shuts the door.
"Oh, that's no big deal. I'll just power up and melt the snow." He begins screaming, but before he can transform, you stop him.
"No!" You shout, using all your strength to subdue the Saiyan, throwing him to the ground.
"Ouch." He wines, rubbing the back of his head, which may have hit the ground a bit too hard. "What did you do that for?"
"I'm a big fan of living, Goku. I'd like to not die. Unlike you, I'm not an alien from another planet who could survive a building collapsing on me!"
"But I'll be suuuuper careful." He's practically begging you. It's been so long since you've spent one-on-one time with Goku that you forgot how insane he is.
"It's not happening, Goku! End of story." You pull out your phone, praying that you have service. Shit. No bars. You move through the capsule, desperately searching for at least one bar of service. No dice. The massive snowstorm must be interfering with the cellphone towers. Maybe you'll have better luck if you can get to higher ground? But how can you do that while confined to the capsule house? Your gaze shifts to Goku, and it finally clicks. "Give me a boost." He stares at you in confusion before complying. He picks you up, placing you on his shoulders. He puts his hands on your ankles to keep you balanced. "Come on." You mutter to yourself, sticking your phone further out.
You finally get a ghost of a signal. "Goku, a little more to the right." He awkwardly stumbles, following your directions. For the world's strongest fighter, he really lacks coordination. "Got it!" You cheer, almost dropping your phone onto the ground. You quickly dial Bulma's number before you lose the signal. After a few rings, she finally picks up.
"What's up, Y/N?"
"Bulma!" You shriek. Most likely puncturing the unsuspecting woman's eardrums.
"Woah! What's wrong?"
"We're trapped in your damn capsule. Get us the hell out of here!"
"What are you still doing there, anyway?"
"T-That doesn't matter."
"Oh... did you and Goku Finally..." Damn her. Over the years, your feelings for Goku haven't been entirely platonic. And Bulma's very aware of your feelings for your childhood friend. She's always making some side comment that flies over Goku's head. It's one of the times you're glad that the Saiyan is as naive as he is.
"Bulma!" Your cheeks flush.
"What's she saying?" Goku's ears perk up, looking up at you.
"N- nothing important. Bulma, come on, be serious. There's a ten-foot wall of snow outside of the door."
"The earliest I can get down there is in a few hours. I'm swamped. And also really in the zone."
"But Bulma!"
"Hang in there. And good luck. You're going to need it." Before you can yell at her anymore, she abruptly hangs up.
"Damn it." You mutter to yourself. "Goku... can you Uhm... put me down, please."
"Ya, sure." He grabs your waist, pulling you down to the floor like you're weightless. "So, is she coming?"
You shake your head. "She said the soonest she could leave is in a few hours. And knowing Bulma, it's gonna be much longer than that. It finally sinks in. You're going to be trapped here. Alone. With Goku. For hours. In the past, you've only been able to handle Goku in short bursts. He's one of your best friends, but he can be a little much. Okay... more like a lot much.
"Well, there has to be something we can do in the meantime. We could spar!"
You chuckle in disbelief. "Goku, my sparring days are long over. They've been that way for years." Like many of your other friends, you retired from fighting seriously. With your human strength, there's no way you could ever keep up with those insane Saiyans.
The two of you end up sitting in silence. It's very unnerving. You didn't think Goku could ever be this quiet. After a while, it's Goku who breaks the silence. "Hey, Y/N.'' You answer with a mumble of acknowledgement. "I've been thinking a lot about something Vegeta said to me.... about you."
"What about me?" You scowl. Knowing Vegeta, it's definitely not something good. Probably one of his offhand sexist comments.
"It's... it's nothing bad!" He stutters out. "It's just---"
"Spit it out, Goku!"
"Okay! He said that you have feelings for me. Isn't that so crazy? And that's exactly what I told him too. But--- why are you looking at me like that?" You cannot move your gaze off him as your mouth hangs open. Vegeta! Vegeta, of all people! The man who cares about nothing but himself knows about your feelings for Goku. Are you that obvious? Does everyone know? Is this what having a panic attack feels like? "It--- It is crazy, right?" His voice is uncharacteristically soft, becoming quieter with every word. "Y/N... say something." His lips contort into his classic pout, the same expression you can never seem to say no to. No matter how absurd his request is. "Please."
"Y- You know how Vegeta is. He was probably trying to get under your skin." You lie through your teeth, hoping he'll fall for it. Your face feels like it's burst into flames. You have to be blushing. Maybe Goku won't notice... or he'll think you're sick like the last time he got too close.
"Oh," He clicks his tongue on the roof of his mouth, almost as if he's disappointed. "Ya, that makes sense. Man, do I feel stupid. We've known each other practically our whole lives. Of course, you don't see me that way." He rubs the back of his neck, chuckling awkwardly. "I guess he just knows how I feel about you... and he was trying to throw me off my game. That's a dirty trick... even for Vegeta."
Now you're sure you didn't have a panic attack before. Because you're definitely having one now. Did Goku just admit that he has feelings for you? You place a hand on your chest to try and calm down the rapid thumping of your heart. "You... You have... feelings... for me?" You're barely able to choke it out. You've imagined this moment so many times in your head. And that's all you can say?
"Well, ya." He nods. "Of course I do. You're always here for me... and you smell good."
"Oh, that's all?"
"No!" He lowers his voice, his face flushing. "There are lots of reasons. I don't think I could name them all... even if I tried."
"How--- How long have you felt like this?"
"I don't know." He runs a hand through his wild raven hair. "I've kinda always felt like this. Even when we were kids." This has to be a dream. You must still be sleeping. You pinch yourself on the arm, yelping in pain after you do. Nope. Not a dream. This is very real.
"Goku---" Your voice cracks. You have no idea what to say. You want to tell him how you feel. But you physically can't. Why can't you just tell him that you feel the same way?
"You don't have to say anything. We can just forget all about this, okay?" No! You don't want that. He likes you, and you like him. This should be easy, but for some reason, everything is more complicated than ever. If you can't tell him, then you will have to show him instead. But how can you do that?
You take a deep breath, gulping nervously. You can do this, Y/N. He likes you, too. He's not going to freak out or push you away. You stand up from your spot on the ground, slowly making your way toward Goku. "Can you stand up?" His brows raise, but he follows your lead anyway, standing up as you come even closer to him. You don't utter another word, leaning into him. You press your lips against his and feel all your fears melt away. You're filled with this sense of ease, one that you've never felt before.
Goku, on the other hand, is freaking out. Okay, freaking out is putting it lightly. The poor man is losing his shit, staring at you like a gaping fish. For once, it's his turn to be nervous. He finds himself unable to move. He can't even move his lips to reciprocate your kiss. After only a moment, which felt like an eternity for Goku, you pull away from him. Glancing shyly at the ground. "Was that okay?" You finally gain the courage to glance back up at him.
"Was that okay?" He repeats what you just asked him in disbelief. You assume that was rhetorical. He places a hand on his lips, still feeling your warmth. "Goku, are you---" Before you can even finish your sentence, his lips are on yours. His hands move onto your sides, slowly moving them up and down. The kiss quickly grows from sweet to passionate. He nips on your bottom lip, enticing a moan from you. The noise alone sets something off in him. He grabs your hips before lowly whispering. It almost sounds like a growl. "Jump." You follow his instructions, wrapping your legs around his torso. He pushes you against the wall, knocking over a table in the process. Both of you barely notice the commotion, being too lost in each other's bodies. You feel the cold metal hit your back before Goku's tongue snakes its way into your mouth. He deepens the kiss exploring the entirety of your mouth. He presses his body against yours, and you can feel his hardness.
Before the kiss escalates any further, you pull away for air, finally noticing the damage you've caused. "Oh, shit! Bulma's going to kill us!" Your eyes land on the prototype for Capsule Corp's newest machine. The very same one they're planning on showing off at their convention this weekend. It's a vast improvement from the previous model. You move away from Goku, going closer to the mess you've made. Some of the core parts are still together. That's good. It'll make the repair process much simpler.
"Can you fix it?" You nod, turning away, leaning down to pick up some of the pieces. You gasp, your grip tightening on the parts in your hand as Goku wraps his arms around you, pressing himself against you.
"Goku!" You wine.
"What? You're super smart, so you'll be able to put it back together quick. Besides, like you said, Bulma's not going to be here for hours. We've got time." He presses his lips against your neck, trailing light kisses along your neck.
"Goku. We can't do this now. Work now... play later."
"Please." He whimpers in your ear. Even though you can't see him, you know he's giving you his classic expression, the same one you never seem to be able to refuse. His attention moves back to your neck, moving on from light pecks to nipping at your soft flesh.
You finally give in when he finds that one spot, throwing your head back with a moan. You pull away from him, and before he can voice his displeasure, you slam your lips back onto his.
You lose all sense of time. There's only one thing you can focus on, and that's Goku. You honestly feel kinda stupid. You two could've been together this whole time.
You don't even notice the front door open. "Guys, I was able to get her a little----" She shrieks in glee. But her giddy yell quickly turns into a horrified shriek. "What the hell did you idiots do?" You pull away from each other with identical expressions of alarm. "You two couldn't keep your paws off each other long enough to fix this!"
"We didn't think you'd get here so soon. You usually take a really long time. Like ridiculously long. Seriously, what do you do all day?" You smack Goku upside the head, causing him to yelp in pain. "Heyyy. That hurt." He rubs the back of his head.
"Come on, Y/N. You're helping me fix this." Before you can walk away from Goku, he scoops you up in his arms.
"Bye, Bulma. I need to borrow Y/N for a sec. I promise I'll bring her back to help you later."
"Goku, what the hell?" You yell as he presses a hand to his forehead, teleporting you to his house. The second you arrive in his room, you jump out of his arms. "You know I don't like that!
"Hey, I just got us out of trouble." You could be a bit nicer to me, you know." He pouts
"No! You just avoided it for now!" You place a hand on your hip, shooting him a knowing look. "Have you ever met Bulma? She's going to kill us."
"But now we can be alone. And we were kinda in the middle of something before Bulma came in." He walks closer to you, throwing his arms around your body. You melt into his strong embrace.
"B- but my car." This is bad. You're starting to run out of excuses.
"We'll get it later. Besides, the tires are probably stuck in the snow." He pushes you down onto his bed. Now he's hovering above you. You stare into his eyes as he flashes you his infamous pout. You're so weak when it comes to him.
"I can never say no to you when you look at me like that."
"Ya, I know. That's why I do it all the time." You glare at him. Maybe he isn't as naive as you thought. He leans down, kissing the frown off your face. You can deal with the consequences later. Right now, you just want to focus on Goku. And you have a feeling that he feels the same way about you.

Lost Part Five | Vegeta x Reader |
part one | part two | part three | part four | part six
author's note: i keep ending up in a bit of a slump after i release a chapter of this where i hardly get anything done for a month or so and then inspiration strikes and i write almost the entire thing within a couple of days 🫠 i am very tired. the story should be wrapping up soon, i'm estimating maybe two more chapters total!
pairing: vegeta x fem!reader
warnings: canon typical violence, does not follow the canon timeline of events
Chi-Chi watches you carefully as you help her prepare dinner. You and Goku came home just a few hours ago, yet you've hardly said a word at all. A year spent with Vegeta, your husband that's spent the last year of his life with another woman and their child, and you've got nothing to say? Nothing happened?? Not even a single thing worth mentioning???
Bull. Shit.
"So." She hums to herself, sliding over more vegetables for you to chop. "You're awfully quiet tonight."
"Just ask the question instead of beating around the bush." You mutter, quickly dicing the veggies in the way Gohan likes best.
Chi-Chi huffs to herself, considering her words more carefully than her initial approach to the conversation. You are not in a good mood and no doubt being hangry on top of it isn't going to help anything. But she's gotta know!
Chi-Chi takes a careful breath, losing her false sense of aloofness. "You seem upset. Did something happen during your training?"
"My husband is a bastard." You mutter bitterly. "Gives me the training of a lifetime and then caps it off with a plan to kill our son."
"Wow." She murmurs softly, and her heart cries to go hug her son tightly and never let go. "I can't say it surprises me that he'd think to do it. He came to this planet and killed his own partner he arrived with."
"Nappa? God how I would've loved to see that." Despite the gravity of your situation, learning that Nappa's death was at the hand of Vegeta fills you with such a sick, satisfactory feeling. "He was always a pain to deal with."
"He killed several of our friends." Chi-Chi mutters, and you do have at least a little grace to feel shame. It's disgusting how in the short time you've been here, these humans have made you think twice about your kind's culture… You always knew it to be despicable yet you've never been this close to feeling ashamed of it.
You sigh to yourself. "It was nice to be so connected to Vegeta again. I've missed him more than you could ever know. I love my husband, but the man I mated wouldn't dream of killing his own son."
"Twenty years apart is unimaginable." Chi-Chi says gently. "And maybe… After growing up with him and then being married young to him, you two never got much of a chance to grow separately. And just maybe that gap allowed you both to be who you truly are… Which might not be compatible, despite your history and what you want to feel."
The tears that well up in your eyes surprise you; you've never been a crier. But she's not wrong— you're not the spoiled, battle-hungry princess you once were, and raising a child alone changed you in ways you never imagined.
Ways that Bulma will change in too, should Vegeta leave her and Trunks to come back to your side.
"I don't want to talk about this anymore." You murmur, and bless Chi-Chi as she turns away and allows you to wipe at your teary eyes. You stare at your hands, feeling the new power you trained for in the chamber run through right alongside your racing blood.
The young Saiyan woman from your past would certainly be in awe of your power, and wouldn't have a care in the world for your family's plight. She only sought to be the strongest warrior possible— and you shake your head at the idea that a younger you would agree with Vegeta's solution to the problem.
It's offensive, the idea of murdering your only son. But Chi-Chi is certainly right— it's no shock Vegeta thought of it. He's clearly not grown all that much, spending much of his life still under Frieza's thumb, doing his pillaging and continuing to live similarly to how he had even on Planet Vegeta. He trained, he fought and killed, and mourned his wife and son with every expedition.
He's a stubborn Saiyan male, one full of pride and an ego forever unmatched. And goodness do you love every bit of him. But letting go of your pride to raise your son in the precarious environment you were left to scramble for, an environment you were in because Vegeta didn't listen, has you still so angry at him. Could you really forgive him? Do you even want to?
I love you so much, Vegeta, but I hate you too. Why didn't you listen to your wife?!
"Alright…" Chi-Chi's voice is practically straining as she attempts to hold herself back, and you can't help the ugly snort that leaves you when that thin barrier breaks. "Just… Did you… Y'know…" She grins conspiratorially, reminding you of your favorite attending from back in the day.
Rolling your eyes, you slide the chopped veggies to her and head for the kitchen's exit to hide your celebratory smirk. "Yes, we did. And it was amazing."
Gohan's not sure what his mother's laughing so loudly about, but he smiles to himself as he resumes his studies. He's glad she's made a friend.
Bulma tosses her wrench aside, burying her pretty face into her hands as the frustration takes its toll on her. She's readying the ship you and Vegeta will take to go find your son, but the nagging worry that Vegeta won't come back lays a thick pressure down on her bones. Sleep is already hard to come by with a baby, especially one that's getting increasingly mobile with each passing day, but she's gotten less and less ever since you came into the picture to ruin her life.
Maybe she's being a little dramatic. This all happened by chance— it was pure coincidence you ended up on Earth, and as an amnesiac you were friendly to her. But what was yours is now hers, and there's no doubt in Bulma's mind that you want to retake it. It's what she would do, after all, if the roles were reversed. You're not wrong for how you feel, she supposes.
But there is entirely too much on the line for her to be relaxed.
She looks up at the sound of boots approaching, and the relief in her body is so harsh and sudden that she feels light. Vegeta's back from wherever he went, and he's got Trunks in his arms. "I didn't know he woke up."
"He's been up only a few minutes." Vegeta hands off the boy to Bulma, Trunks grinning happily at the sight of his mother.
"When did you get back?"
"Not long ago."
Bulma bites her tongue. "So…"
"So?" Vegeta crosses his arms, taking in the frazzled sight of his child's mother. She hasn't been sleeping well, probably hasn't eaten much either— how can she take care of Trunks like this?
Bulma glares at Vegeta, forcing down the bulk of her rage to keep Trunks in a happy mood. It's difficult, though, to deal with the stubbornness and aloofness of her whatever he is to her. Boyfriend? Baby daddy? Disappearing isn't entirely new for Vegeta, though it's been some time since he's done it. But with you in the picture, anything is possible and he's slowly seeming to retreat back into the shell he started out in.
"Where have you been?" Her tone isn't accusatory, and Vegeta's stance relaxes slightly.
"Training in the chamber." He's honest, but his short reply concerns Bulma anyway.
"With—"
"Yes."
Bulma sighs, ignoring the way Trunks tugs at her shirt. "So when are you leaving?"
"I'm not sure." Vegeta murmurs, looking off to the side at nothing in particular. He can't find V without you, and he's currently your number one enemy again. Giving you space is a minimum requirement before he can attempt to talk plans for leaving, discovering V and then—
Well, you'll have to come to an agreement on that front as well.
"Will you come back?"
His brows come together then, but he can't fairly be mad at the question. He's left before, made no indication or vow to Bulma to be present from now on, and while it hasn't crossed his mind, it would be quite the opportunity to reunite with his first family in space and fuck off to who knows where. But for many reasons outside of just Bulma and Trunks, he would never leave Earth.
It's his home, plain and simple, and he must defend it as such.
"Of course I will."
Doubt fills her tummy as Vegeta walks out of her lab, leaving her alone with the baby.
Chi-Chi's dragged her boys out of the house for clothes and grocery shopping around noon the following day, and you're left alone to your own devices for a few brief hours. Daring to check the contents of the slow cooker Chi-Chi set up this morning, you hear the front door opening up just as you start to open the lid.
Dammit!
"Whatever you think I'm doing, Chi-Chi, I'm—" The hairs at the back of your neck prickle, and defense mode rises as you don't recognize the energy to belong to any one of the Son family.
But luckily for Bulma, she's got a fairly recognizable hair color.
You narrow your eyes as she finishes inviting herself in, watching as she closes the door behind her and looks you right in the eye, adjusting the baby on her hip. "Bulma. What do you want?"
"Vegeta."
Oh, for Kami's sake!
"You have him, don't you?" Your jealousy confusingly runs parallel with your anger at your mate— he's a bastard, but yours.
"I hoped he was." Bulma murmurs, and you don't miss the sadness in her eyes. Truly, she does love your husband. "He's been… A challenge."
"That's the biggest understatement I've ever heard." You cross your arms and look away from her.
"But I love him. He's not romantic or particularly soft or anything, but I love him anyway. And he's my son's father, and I just… I want Trunks to grow up knowing his father."
"My son didn't."
"So you should know exactly the pain Trunks would go through. The pain I would go through when he asks me about a man he doesn't remember meeting. I…" Bulma sighs and rubs her tired face, and boy you don't envy her position as a new mother in this sticky situation. At least when V was out of the incubator, you had a solid marriage to back you when dealing with the baby got to be too much at once.
But she steels herself quickly, the fiery look in her eye you remember from that night in the forest coming back to the present. "I met a version of my son where he grew up without Vegeta."
"I'm sorry— Huh?!" She met a version of Trunks??
"He came here from the future, and he's the one that actually killed Frieza."
"A halfling killed Frieza…" You say slowly, gazing at the child in her arms. This child will one day have that sort of power?!
"He's a child of Vegeta, of course he did!" Bulma scoffs, and damn she'd be quite the catch on Planet Vegeta. And bitterly, she reminds you of yourself. Vegeta certainly has a type.
"This place gets stranger the longer I stay here." Your tail tightens around your waist, frustration and confusion swamping your brain. "What in the hell did he get himself into?" You ask yourself the question more than Bulma, and once again you're met with a reminder of Chi-Chi's words.
Twenty years apart is unimaginable…
Bulma sighs. "Trunks traveled from the future because of a threat that completely ruined the world, and everyone except me and Trunks died. He came back to warn us, and then left again. We haven't seen him since."
"And I don't suppose he mentioned me in any capacity."
"No, he didn't."
"So either I never showed up, or I left Earth."
Or V killed me.
"I don't really know." Bulma adjusts the squirming baby in her arms. "But I'm not willing to take Trunks' sacrifice and doom this Trunks to the same fate. The Androids are set to arrive in a few years, and we need Vegeta to even have a chance."
"So what exactly are you asking me to do? Fuck off and give you your happy ending, and leave me and my son in the dust?"
"I'm asking you, mother to mother, to give my son the gift your son couldn't have. A family, and a chance at a happy life."
"And why should I care about the quality of your son's life?" Your fists clench at your sides; you're not a monster to an innocent baby's plight, not at all. If anything, the last twenty years have softened you and as a mother, you more than understand Bulma's situation and what she's asking. But to assume a savage of you without knowing you—
You did threaten her life, you suppose. Perhaps her anger is a tad deserved.
"If you won't do it for Trunks, then do it for Gohan." Bulma spits out, heading for the door. "Because if you don't, he'll grow up without his dad and spend his life protecting Trunks until the day they finally kill him too."
She slams the door shut behind her, and the cold realization trickles through your veins. Should you be selfish and take what you want, those you've come to cherish will die, and that innocent boy that didn't choose his parents will suffer directly. You're more than aware what it's like to lose everything, and at the very least you could attribute some of it to karma for your Saiyan heritage and the things you've done out of pride for it.
Could you really damn a baby like that?
"Why didn't you tell me about the Androids?"
Goku freezes, not even entirely in the house when you question him. His arms are loaded with shopping bags that he subsequently drops when Gohan runs into him with the rest of the bags, the two of them tumbling into quite the mess. Chi-Chi's luckily getting a manicure, though Goku doesn't know which is the lesser of two evils— angry Chi-Chi, or angry you.
"Uh, wh-whaddya mean?" Goku pointedly averts your gaze in favor of picking up the dropped bags of clothes and groceries.
"Don't play dumb, Goku." You growl. "Androids. Why didn't you tell me?"
Goku sighs and stands. "We didn't know if you should know, since…"
"You're not staying." Gohan mumbles.
"That, and those guys are four years away. Your situation is more urgent." Goku hands off the groceries to Gohan to put away, leaving you alone in the living room. "We've been training for it pretty hard though."
"You should've told me."
"Would you be willing to help us with them?"
"Of course I would!" You snap. "Like I'd ever miss a fight, especially one of this gravity."
"Really?!" Goku scoops you into a crushing hug, and your tail steps in for your trapped arms to bat the back of his head.
"I will be here for these Androids, whatever the hell they are. You can count on that."
"Does that mean you'll stay?" Goku carefully puts you down, his hands on your shoulders.
"Certainly not." You look away from those honest eyes. "But I will return to help you fight."
"Why won't you stay?"
"I have a life elsewhere, with my son. Earth is not as bad as it first seems, but I don't see a long-term future here."
"But… What about us, your family?"
"I…" You falter for just a moment, remembering the way you lived with the Son family during your amnesia and how right it felt at the time.
As an amnesiac, it was of course easy to feel such a way— you craved a sense of belonging and a home, and naturally gravitated towards what you had found, and wanted to keep it even in the event your memories were restored. Building something new was a possibility lost at the exact moment Vegeta entered your life again, but only as a result of your unyielding rage.
Could it really be possible to stay on such a planet? There's more here for you than where you spent the past two decades, surely… But it's the presence of your husband's bastard family that sends a shot of resistance straight to your heart. That woman and her child serve as the cherry on top to all that's happened to you; why in the hell would you ever subject yourself to such torture?
"I can't stay, Goku. My son needs me."
He's all I have left, and I'm all he has ever known.
Goku doesn't argue, but the sadness that rolls off of him slinks onto you as you walk out of the house.
"Mother?" V asks softly as you head for your training grounds. He was oddly quiet on the ride over to this planet from your home, and evidently something's been plaguing his young mind.
"Yes?"
"What was Father like?"
You knew this day would come, but no amount of pondering the answers or possible questions could prepare you for how broken your son's voice is— how long has he asked himself these questions? He's six years old now, surely it's been on his mind for at least a little while. And though you've never made it a point not to bring up your husband or your home planet to your son, the memory of what you had and the grief over what could have been breaks your heart daily, even with your pent-up rage at your late husband's refusal to listen to your concerns.
"Your father was… Amazing." Damn the tears in your eyes and just how wistful you sound. You need to be strong for the boy! "A master tactician, stubborn as all hell, witty, prideful man. He was everything. Strong and handsome and fierce."
"What happened to him?"
"He died when our home planet was destroyed."
"He was that strong and still died?!" V's dark eyes widen in fright, and you cup his face gently.
"Your father's downfall was also his greatest strength— his pride. Had he listened to me, he'd be alive today. So always listen to your mother, my son. I only want what's best for my family."
"My family means everything to me." You mutter to yourself, gazing up at the sky and finding the sole twinkle of the brightest star as dusk settles in and finding it to be a lot like the sparkle in Gohan's eyes when he finds an interesting bug.
A bead of sweat trickles down into Vegeta's eye, stinging as he pushes through the pain of the gravity room. Train for his son, train for his other son, train for himself and his goals… Never has he ever felt so tired, where he yearns more for sleep than a battle.
Well, he may not be willing to go quite that far. But there was a time where he was beyond dead tired and all he longed for was one single thing.
Vegeta slams shut the door to his dorm on the Frieza station, huffing at his near loss of balance from expelling the last bit of his energy on the child's tantrum tactic. The food on this ship isn't good enough for how tightly he's under Frieza's thumb now— it's surely intentional and to keep Vegeta from rising above and killing the dictator that stole everything from him. Frieza is cruel, and sees Vegeta as a mere tool or even a toy.
Vegeta can only hope his life remains fun for Frieza to play with until he gets his chance to strike and take revenge for his glorious race's extinction.
Taking revenge for the murder of his dear wife and son is the only thing to keep him going these days. And those idiots Raditz and Nappa don't understand a thing about it— they're living it up on this ship, doing Frieza's bidding just as loyal dogs and not having a care in the world for what was lost. Perhaps that's why they get fed properly; Frieza knows they'd never give up this lifestyle.
And bitterly, Vegeta knows he'd be just like them if he never got married. His pride is insurmountable, but his love for his family outweighs even that. He'd never bow down to the one that cost him everything, even if he was given an 'ideal' life of battling and feasting.
Someday, he will rise above in his Super Saiyan form and avenge you. But for now he must bide his time until he can master and make true use of it.
Falling to his knees at the foot of the bed, so exhausted his tail lays limp rather than around his waist, Vegeta pulls his lady's favor from his armor. Your scent faded so, so long ago, yet he can swear he remembers it anyway. Your preferred body scrub was infused with mint, and it mixed well with your natural scent and Vegeta could never get enough of it. Fruitlessly, he buries his nose into the silk cloth.
Tears fill his eyes as he wills the favor to smell like you again. It's getting harder and harder to pretend he's with you, laying in bed and nosing along the curve of your neck while you rest in bed. He'd rub your swollen belly as you near the end of your pregnancy, the strong little Saiyan inside of you nearly ready to be born and incubated and you were in quite the discomfort during that time.
All you wanted was your husband's presence, and he should've appreciated it more. Hindsight is 20/20, but he remembers feeling aggravated at times, being trapped in bed and feeling restless and anxious for the incoming parenthood. To go back and live in the moment, to see you, hold you, kiss you… He'd do anything.
"Please." He begs softly to a God that may not even exist, let alone be listening to his plea. Tears wet his face and he collapses to the floor. "Please give them back."
Vegeta closes his eyes as his vision clouds, and with a huff he forces himself up and out of the gravity room. He got his wish, and damn if he'll just let you go like this. You are alive, and the year in the chamber wasn't nearly enough. Saiyan mates are connected until the end of time, and he will not waste another damn minute without you.
You're at Vegeta's little hidden cabin when the hairs at the back of your neck raise. Vegeta's here, but why? You meet him at the door, and the determined look in his eye sends a shiver down your spine.
"Vegeta."
"You are a difficult woman to find." He seethes. "For anyone else, anyway."
"For what purpose are you looking for me?" Your eyes narrow suspiciously— the aura around him is different. He's hellbent on something.
"Because you're my goddamn wife!"
You stumble backwards as Vegeta wraps you up in his arms, his hold crushing you against that solid, strong body. Trembling as he holds you, he brushes the tip of his nose along the curve of your neck. "I can't lose you again." He murmurs before kissing you deeply, and it's just like in the chamber— temporarily, you feel whole again.
I don't want to be lost again.
"For everything, I'm sorry. I should've been better, I should've listened, I—"
"I love you." You whisper against him, eyes shut tightly as you bask in his embrace. "Forgive me-"
"There's nothing to forgive you for." Vegeta mutters, smoothing a hand down the curve of your back. "You've done nothing-"
"For what I'm about to do."
Vegeta frowns, and you mash your lips to his for a quick distraction against the power generating in your palms and his cry of pain and confusion breaks your heart as you slam one palm against his lower back, in the exact spot his tail once was. Even with the appendage lost, it's still a deeply-rooted sensitive area and he's weakened immediately by your thrust of power to it.
Your husband falls to his knees, angry but unable to move. "W… What the hell was that?!" He coughs, wheezing as if you punched all the air from his lungs.
"I have to do what's best for my family. And my family needs you safe here, love."
"I need you." Vegeta pleads, reaching out to you with a shaky hand. "Don't… Don't!"
"I'll see you again for the Androids."
If I survive that long.
Before Vegeta can ponder how you even know about them, your powered up fist meets the side of his skull and he's out cold, sprawled out on the floor of his secret cabin. Without wasting too much time, you fish his beloved lady's favor from your breasts and leave a wistful kiss on it before tucking it into your mate's open palm.
Leaving him behind, you quickly fly to Capsule Corps as you recall the direction Vegeta came from. Bulma's up with the baby, and your eyes lock onto hers as she opens up the door to her home.
"You have maybe ten minutes to get me into orbit before Vegeta wakes up."
Baby Trunks is swiftly thrust into your arms as she leads the way to the ship, and you and the child lock eyes for just a moment.
For all these things I've done, I had better see heaven one day.

Dragon Ball Daima: Oops! All Babies
I think the word is already out on this thing. Turns out all the rumors about a new Dragon Ball anime featuring a de-aged Goku were mostly true. But it's not "Dragon Ball Magic", it's "Dragon Ball Daima". And while the Supreme Kai is in the trailer, so are a lot of other characters, so it remains to be seen if he's in the lead like the "Magic" rumors had suggested. As far as the name goes, "Daima" is apparently a word Toriyama made up, so "Magic" may have been a best-guess attempt to translate it into English, or maybe it was a working title used behind the scenes, sort of like how they called "Return of the Jedi" by the name "Blue Harvest" during production.
Anyway, the trailer features lots of characters being turned into small children, not just Goku. Some characters are unaccounted for, most notably Gohan. I'm not sure how to interpret this. It could mean he's not in the show at all, and he was unaffected by whatever caused this. But my guess is that they only had so much footage they could put in the trailer, and someone decided Kid Gohan wasn't very helpful from a promotional standpoint. I mean, we saw a lot of Kid Gohan in DBZ. Showing a Kid Gohan in Daima might have led to confusion about the show's continuity.
I'm not... particularly interested in the adults-turned-to-kids gimmick. I don't hate it, but it doesn't mean much to me. The characters look adorable, and that's great, but it's not exactly groundbreaking.
What does interest me is the message from Akira Toriyama at the panel where they unveiled the trailer. I like it because it gives me some assurance that Daima won't fall into the same pitfalls as GT. Let's discuss.
A transcript, first, in case you couldn't read the image at the top of the post:
Hello. I’m Akira Toriyama.
I’m currently working on a new Dragon Ball. The Title is “Dragon Ball DAIMA”.
“DAIMA” is a made-up term, which in Japanese characters would be “大魔” or in English would be something like “Evil.”
Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world! It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.
Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Nyoibo (Power Pole) to fight, something not seen in a long time.
I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs. I’m actually putting a lot more into this than usual!
Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world. Hope you enjoy these different-from-usual battles that are cute and powerful!!
— AKIRA TORIYAMA
All that really matters here is the part where he says why the characters get turned into kids. "Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things..."
I spent like two months this year complaining about Dragon Ball GT, and pointing out all its various flaws and shortcomings, and here Toriyama sums it all up without even really talking about GT at all. The big problem with GT was not that they turned Goku into a child. The problem was that they turned Goku into a child and then did nothing about it.
I know a lot of fans like GT, but that isn't the point. The point is that when Goku turns into a kid in the first episode, it's presented like a big problem, an obstacle the hero must overcome. The implication is that Goku has to go on a quest to restore himself to normal. Except that's not the problem. The Black Star Dragon Balls are the problem, and Goku can't even think about using them to turn himself back, because they'll destroy the Earth.
So the viewer might be led to assume that the show is actually about Goku learning to adapt to this second childhood. Well, no, because he very quickly decides that it doesn't matter much to him. The only real drawback to his kid body is that for some reason he can't teleport or use Super Saiyan 3. But then he discovers Super Saiyan 4, which can teleport and it's stronger and stabler than SSJ3, so yeah he's arguably better off than he was before.
So what was the purpose of making Goku a kid in GT? I don't know, I guess Toei thought he would look cool that way. Well, fair enough, but that's like giving Goku a haircut, or a new pair of shoes. You don't market a show on a mere cosmetic change. GT presented Kid Goku like a problem that would be central to the series, and then did their best to ignore it for the next 63 episodes. And this hurts everything else they tried to do with the show, because all of the villains and aliens and battles ring hollow when they don't have anything to do with Goku being turned into a kid. If GT could have fixed that fundamental problem, it might not have fixed everything I hated about GT, but it would have at least made the show feel more satisfying to watch.
What I'm driving at here is that Toriyama understands that you can't just de-age your characters for no reason. There has to be a plot-driven reason behind it, or it's just a cheap gimmick. And there is a reason in Daima. There's a conspiracy, and somehow it led to Goku and the gang getting turned into kids. This isn't just Emperor Pilaf making a stupid wish without thinking. Someone did this on purpose. I don't know why someone would do this. Maybe it's an unintended side effect of some other action, but it's still a deliberate action that will set the plot into motion.
And this version of Goku may not care about being de-aged, just like the GT Goku didn't care, but Daima Goku is still going to do something about it. We know this because "In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world!" The conspiracy is a problem to be solved, and Goku's going to go to this "new world" to solve it.
This is important. I can't stress it enough. This is why Akira Toriyama is so good at what he does. I'm not saying he's flawless, but most of the criticisms I see leveled at Toriyama don't hold water. The guy knows how important it is to connect all the story beats together.
Of course, Daima could still fall flat. I mean, the Zamasu arc was terrible, so maybe this thing will turn out to be a stinker too. But at least I can rest easy knowing this won't just repeat all the mistakes GT made.

Yandere Radiz and Platonic Goku with a Female Sanji Reader?
Bulma’s latest invention teleported Reader from her world to theirs (It was a total accident) despite this Reader joined them on their adventures and later opened up her very own restaurant (Bulma bought it for her as an apology until she can find a way to send Reader back home) which she named ‘The All Blue Baratie’ (It became instantly popular and famous
When Reader also became Gohan’s ‘Aunty’ (She’s definitely not crying, nope, she’s definitely not crying everytime he calls her ‘Aunty’, her heart is definitely not being squeezed in happiness whenever he gets really happy to see her)
However when a man named Radiz enters the picture and reveals Goku’s origins as well as kidnap Gohan, there’s no way Reader isn’t going to stand around and let her precious nephew get hurt (She’s ready to kick ass, more specifically, Radiz’s Sayian ass
Unknown to her, she’s the definition of ‘Attractive’ to the Sayian Race (Her confidence, power, and savagery is very attractive)
The one thing I can’t stand about Dragon Ball is how the timeline constantly skips a few years (I don’t even know what year or how old everyone is, and they don’t even reveal their age either, so that doesn’t make it easier)
-It had been almost a year since you arrived in this new world, arriving with a bang, literally, you appeared as a result of an explosion after one of Bulma’s inventions backfired.
-You had no idea where you were and after a time, you realized you were in a completely different world!
-Bulma was so apologetic, doing everything she could to send you home, but you weren’t upset, as it was an accident.
-You had been given a chance, thanks to an apology gift from Bulma and her parents, to own and run your own restaurant, The All Blue Baratie, and it instantly became a huge hit, people were coming from all over the world, including celebrities, to try your cooking.
-Your portions were described as ‘healthy’ but affordable meaning Goku and his family were constant visitors, alongside Bulma and Krillin, as you would always give them a five-star meal on a two-star budget!
-You became friends with all of Bulma’s friends, whom she brought to your restaurant quite frequently, Roshi learned very quickly that despite your bright smile and slight boy crazy attitude, that you were not to be trifled with.
-You were way stronger than you looked, your kicks were some of the strongest any of them had seen, even Goku who asked to spar with you.
-Your favorite of the whole group, besides Bulma, was Gohan! He had quickly adopted you as his auntie and neither Chichi or Goku minded, until you started crying, hugging Gohan close, so overwhelmed with happiness that he saw you as his auntie!
-Chichi liked you because you would always give them a discount when Goku would bring you crops from their fields and animals he had hunted, providing his own food, while you just cook it, and she happy that she can get a break from cooking for their huge appetites at least twice a week, sometimes more.
-It a normal Thursday for you, you were preparing for the dinner crowd, prepping vegetables and some of the slow cooked dishes ahead of time when a loud pounding was heard on the front door to your restaurant.
-Normally you would ignore it, but it sounded frantic, and you set your knife down and went to the door and your eyes widened to see Bulma, looking scared and frantic.
-As soon as you opened the door Bulma launched herself into your arms, “Gohan’s been taken!!” you froze, only for a moment before your eyes narrowed, “What?”
-She explained that a man, an alien, named Raditz showed up, attacked Chichi and Goku and took Gohan, to force Goku to fight him, as they were brothers.
-This was almost unreal, until you remembered Gohan’s tail before you demanded to know where Gohan and Raditz were.
-Bulma gave you the coordinates, telling you that Piccolo, Yamcha, and some of the others were on their way too, as well as Goku, to get Gohan back.
-Bulma agreed to give you a ride on her motorcycle, which you thanked her for, “Once I’m there, get out of here as fast as you can.” She nodded, as she had already planned on it.
-You glared as you saw Yamcha already down, and Tien was quickly losing against Raditz and you leapt up, “Get out of here Bulma!”
-Raditz heard a shout and looked around to block another one of these weaklings, waiting for his brother and was stunned when a flaming leg swung into his face, sending him flying back.
-He landed hard, rolling and was quick to stand with a grin, realizing it was someone strong, before he froze, seeing a woman!
-You were wearing your normal outfit, a collared top with a vest, sleeves rolled up, a black pencil skirt with a slit in the right thigh, and black heels, and a tie that you were currently loosening.
-Gohan gasped, as he had been crying, seeing you, “Auntie!!” your eyes narrowed harshly, feeling fury that your darling nephew was upset and scared.
-Raditz charged and you froze as Piccolo and Tien tackled him from the side, keeping him busy and you immediately ran to Gohan, who was in a capsule like spaceship, “Close your eyes and turn into a ball Gohan!”
-The boy did as you told and you swung hard, breaking open the capsule, destroying it with a well-placed heel kick.
-Raditz was stunned, seeing your raw strength and fury, a feral grin on his lips as you picked up Gohan, holding him on your hip before you had to leap up, dodging his swipe.
-A guillotine kick stunned him, but only for a moment as you leapt back, blocking one of his punches with your knees. The fire in your eyes seemed to entice him more and more as you blocked his blows, but he didn’t seem as serious compared to when he was fighting the men.
-It was almost like he was toying with you. He tried to grab Gohan, to toss him aside so you could have a real fight and you kicked up hard, your leg coming up almost perfectly straight into his chin, throwing him back.
-Yamcha then shouted at you, “You need to use your hands to fight Y/N! He’s too powerful for just kicks!”
-You sent an icy glare to Yamcha, and everyone felt it, even Gohan, “These hands are for cooking only!” and as you shouted that, you swung your leg at Raditz, fire covering it again, “Diable Jambe!!” and it slammed into Raditz’s midsection, sending him flying back, completely knocked out, stunning everyone, including Goku who had just arrived.
-You were panting softly, holding Gohan close with one arm as he was hugging you around your neck, sniffling softly and you instantly softened, stroking his cheek gently as he pulled back, whimpering out, “Auntie?” as the men all quickly came over to apprehend Raditz.
-Everyone went back to your restaurant, and you put a sign on it, telling everyone that it was closed for the day due to a personal issue.
-Raditz wasn’t as scary when he woke up, completely bound and unable to move, just loud, demanding to be set free and making a ruckus.
-You walked by, carrying food for everyone and you shoved a meat stick into his mouth, shutting him up, not seeing his eyes sparkling at the tasty food as he ate his way through it.
-You passed by Roshi who thank you warmly, putting his hand on your rear like it wasn’t anything and you squeaked and went to kick him before a meat bone came shooting across the room and hit the old man in the head, sending him flying.
-You turned to Raditz who was glaring harshly while Goku was laughing hard, finding it funny as you picked up the bone, “Oi- don’t play with your food!”
-Raditz grinned at your anger, as if he thought it was attractive, “Just staking my claim- you’re my mate!”
-Jaws dropped and everyone turned white in shock at his bold claim as he demanded more food like what he said was no big deal.
-Raditz was calmer once he had more food and surprisingly, he was very forthcoming with information, in exchange for even more food, telling you all about the looming threat coming and he was willing to vouch for this world, so that Vegeta and Nappa, who were scheduled to be coming as well, wouldn’t attack, in exchange for help defeating Frieza, a powerful alien warlord.
-Now that there was time to prepare, preparations could be made with the hopes of preventing the slaughter of innocents and preparing to defeat Frieza.
-Goku decided to trust his brother, which was shocking to most everyone in the room and Gohan ran to you, clinging to your leg as you trusted Goku, but if any damage came to your restaurant, you were gonna break Goku.
-Raditz behaved and you were stunned, learning that the way you acted in the fight, being so angry and fierce, was actually how Saiyan women were, and to him, you were the perfect mate.
-You were irritated with his jealous tendencies, growling at other men, treating you more like an object than a person, and claiming that you were his.
-You gave Raditz a part time job for your restaurant, hunting and fishing for you, in exchange for food and getting to stay with you, as he liked your cooking and threw a tantrum when he wasn’t allowed to be with you, and you just allowed it to avoid more headaches.
-Raditz crossed the line wen Goku and Gohan came for a visit and a meal, and the little boy ran to you, “Auntie!!” and you were quickly kneeling, all smiles to hug him close, before you heard Raditz growl at him.
-Your glare was hotter than the sun and instantly Raditz was showing throat to see, seeing the flames of hell behind you, “Did you just growl at your nephew?!”
-Goku froze, trying not to draw any attention to himself with hopes he would be safe from your wrath. Raditz could see how soft you were with Gohan, with a child, and his eyes seemed to sparkle at the realization.
-You fed the three Saiyan men, who all thanked you for the food, something Raditz learned to do that you appreciated, and you would give him warm, bright smiles.
-Once the father and son were gone for the day, Raditz approached and wrapped his arms around you from behind, spooking you, but at the same time surprising you, as the embrace was soft.
-You turned to look up at him, seeing the heated look in his own eyes, “I’ll give you what you want, Y/N. I’ll give you a child!”
-Your face turned bright red before WHACK!!! You stomped away from him, your face bright red as he was now on the ground, several large lumps on the back of his head.
-He sat up, seeing you holding your cheeks and he couldn’t help but grin, seeing you acting so shy with the idea of having a child. It made him desire you more.

Gochi week - napping
ChiChi had learned very early on in their marriage, that as much as her husband loved to be active, traversing even the most remote parts of Mount Paozu to find the best hunting and fishing spots, or training with seemingly reckless abandon, Goku was an absolute stickler for proper rest time.
Taking Gohan with him when he’d leave to go fishing or to spar when their boy had hit a wall in his studies; even Piccolo hadn’t been safe from his watch while he stayed with them while they were preparing for the androids. The Namekian would often find himself being dragged back to their home whether he was conscious or not after an exhaustive training session.
She'd lost count of how many times he'd literally swept her off her feet only to plop her down somewhere comfortable to take a break whenever he noticed she was overworking herself again.
So, even after he’d been gone for those seven years, she was only mildly surprised when she suddenly found herself cradled against his chest as he carried her to the living room and gently deposited her onto the couch before pressing the remote into her hand.
“All these years and you’re still the same, ya gotta learn how to take a break Chi.” Goku chided lightly, a hint of amusement in his voice and pressed a quick kiss to her lips before she had a chance to argue and straightened, heading back into the kitchen where he’d found her, finishing her task of clearing the table and counters before he started on the pile of dishes in the sink.
She was still tempted to argue with him, to insist she was fine, that she was used to the work, but this was one of the few things that he put his foot down over and knew from experience that he had no issue returning her to where he put her as many times as it took for her to eventually give up.
With no choice but to admit defeat, she huffed and called out a thank you, a small laugh escaping her when he flashed her that beaming smile of his when he knew that he’d won before turning back to his task.
Finding the sight of her husband far more interesting than whatever was on the tv at this time of day, ChiChi readjusted herself to a more comfortable position, watching him contently as he rocked from side to side, humming the theme song of a cartoon that Goten was currently obsessed with as he worked, almost entranced by the way his muscles bunched and relaxed under the thin material of his shirt.
He’d been back for weeks now and it still seemed so surreal to see him here, living and breathing, looking just as he did the morning he and Gohan had left to battle Cell.
It hadn’t been seamless of course, seven years was a long time to be away after all; but somehow he’d managed to slot himself back into their lives almost naturally, making moments like these feel like he’d never been gone in the first place.
A sense of peace washed over her, the feeling reminiscent of their first five years together before all the chaos that Raditz’ arrival had triggered and felt her eyes begin to droop; the running water, soft clinking of china and Goku’s soft baritone more potent than any lullabye.
Goku smiled softly as he felt ChiChi’s ki settle and even out, stifling a laugh when he peeked behind him to find her asleep, her head resting in the crook of her arm, leaning over the arm of the couch, the remote still hanging loosely from her other hand. He decided to let her sleep as long as she needed, knowing the adjustment to keep not only their boys fed, but now him as well was taking its toll on her, no matter how much she tried to deny it.
He quickly finished what was left and turned off the faucet, flicking the excess water from his hands before drying them and padded over to her, admiring his wife for a moment before gently scooping her up into his arms and settled himself onto the couch, repositioning her on his chest, taking care not to wake her.
He hummed his contentment as ChiChi snuggled into him further after he’d draped a blanket over them, the weight of her on him reminding him of just how much he had missed this while he was in Other World.
While he had stuck with his decision to stay among the dead, adamant to keep his family and friends safe, he’d regretted it so many times over the course of those seven years. Training and fighting in the Other World tournament had been fun and welcome distractions, but ChiChi and Gohan would always be on his mind whenever he’d had time to himself.
He’d always wonder how big Gohan was getting, if he was happy, how he was doing with his studies; he missed hearing about all the things he’d learned, his sweet boy excitedly spouting facts about some cool bug they’d found while out on a hike and him listening along eagerly, despite not knowing any of the terminology he’d used.
And then there was ChiChi; thinking about her had always been hard. She had been hurting so much the last few years before he’d died the second time, crisis after crisis popping up, always tied to him in one way or another and he realized not for the first time how lucky he had been that she’d decided to stay with him through all of it.
He knew she’d be angry and heartbroken when she learned of his death, but often wondered if she’d also been relieved when he’d decided to stay away.
Wondered if maybe she’d even found someone else who could give her the kind of life she’d wanted; a life of peace and safety, a life that despite his best efforts, he hadn’t been able to provide while alive.
The thought of her moving on had always brought a tightness to his chest that made it hard to breathe despite not having the need to do so. It wasn’t that he hadn’t wanted her to find happiness after his passing, nothing could be further from the truth; but the thought of another man holding her in his arms, being intimate with her in a way that only he’d known and her returning those affections drove his instincts haywire.
He couldn’t help the rush of emotion that coursed through him when he showed up at the tournament and there she was, just as beautiful as the morning he’d kissed her goodbye for the last time, teary eyed and happy to see him, making a point to tell him that she’d missed him.
And Gohan, his sweet, smart, amazing little boy, who was now just shy of being a man and nearly as tall as he was had quite literally thrown himself into his arms with a force that could’ve easily sent a lesser man flying, strong arms and legs curling around him in a bone crushing hug that was returned in equal fervor, no words needed in that moment as he held his boy, relieved that he hadn’t grown to hate him for his choice.
That relief had been short lived however, only to be replaced with guilt and regret after he’d put Gohan back down on his feet and caught the gaze of a tinier version of himself peeking at him from just behind ChiChi, his little hand gripping the fabric of her pants before he’d shyly ducked behind her legs.
He’d felt like his head was underwater, the excited ramblings from everyone around him suddenly muffled, his knees going weak as the realization slammed into him harder than any opponent ever could.
She’d given him another son and he’d never known; never got to hold him in his first moments after he came into the world, never heard him say his first words, never seen him take his first steps, didn’t know his name, what he liked to do for fun, his favorite food, his favorite color, what he wanted to be when he grew up, or any of the other important things that a dad should know about his little boy.
When Goten had rushed into his arms after they’d introduced each other, he’d barely been able to keep the tears prickling in his eyes at bay as he scooped him up eagerly, overjoyed that his little boy had accepted him and wished that he’d had more time to be with his family than just the twenty four hours Baba was able to allow him.
In the aftermath of their fight with Buu, after the dust had settled and the adrenaline had faded, the realization that he’d been given another chance at life had finally started to sink in. He was eternally grateful for the Old Kai’s sacrifice, especially after ChiChi had quite literally sobbed with joy at the news that he was coming back for good, his boys clinging to him for dear life, tears in their eyes while they excitedly chattered over one another, telling him about all the things they wanted to show him.
“Honey? Wha’s wrong, you okay?” ChiChi asked, her head popping up from his chest after she’d felt the uptick in his heartbeat, her voice thick with sleep and laced with concern.
“I’m fine Chi, just thinkin’, go back to sleep.” He reassured sheepishly with a smile and ran his fingers through her hair that she’d tied back into a low ponytail, reminding him of when they were younger.
“Ya sure?” She prodded gently, knowing he had the habit of keeping his feelings hidden behind that goofy smile of his.
“I know ya say tha'cha ain't good at readin' ki, but I’m thinkin’ ya got a natural talent for it.” He praised in an attempt to distract her, delighting in the soft blush that dusted over her cheeks as she scootched herself further up his chest and met her halfway when she leaned in for a kiss.
“Or maybe, I’ve been wit'cha long enough to be able to read ya; now what’s on your mind?” She teased lightly when they parted and tapped him on the nose with her finger, looking at him expectantly and waited patiently when he sighed and his eyes softened.
“Just thinkin’ ‘bou'cha an' the boys an’ how much I missed out on; musta been hard raisin’ our boys all on your own for so long, ‘specially with them bein’ half Saiyan to boot. I shoulda come back when I had the chance and been there for ya.” Goku answered after another heavy sigh and let his head fall back against the arm of the couch, his eyes tracing invisible patterns into the ceiling.
“Hey,” ChiChi called out to him softly, her hand coming up to rest on his cheek, waiting to continue until he lifted his head to meet her eyes again. “I already told ya that I forgave ya when we talked after ya came home, an’ I meant it. Ya did what ya felt ya had to do in order to keep us safe. Now you’re back and have the opportunity to make up for lost time, ya shouldn’t waste it by getting stuck in the past and dwelling on what coulda been.” She reassured, tracing her fingertips over the lines of his face, her lips turning up into a smile after he’d given her a genuine smile this time.
“I love ya.” He said, catching her hand to press a kiss to her fingers.
“Love ya too; now, ya gonna tell me how long I’ve been asleep for?” She replied playfully, pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
“Not that long, maybe an hour?” He answered, humming thoughtfully after taking a look at the clock on the wall.
“An hour?! Goku you shoulda woke me up instead of comin’ to lay down with me! I’ve got cleanin’ to do and lunch an’ dinner to prep, and we still gotta meet with Old Mr.Taro about gettin’ that tractor; I’m gonna be so far behi-” ChiChi listed off worriedly, nearly scrambling to get off the couch when Goku’s arm wrapped around her securely, pulling her back into his lap as he sat up.
“Hey, hey, take it easy Chi! There’s no rush; I’ll help ya with the food, the house is already clean enough, it don’t need to be spotless an’ we don’t gotta meet with Mr. Taro ‘til the boys are almost outta school, we got plenty of time.” Goku countered, his tone filled with reassurance, his hand running up and down her back soothingly, easily coaxing her to relax back against him.
“But-” she tried to resist and went to push herself away from his chest when he cut her off, much to her annoyance.
“No buts, ya promised me that you’d stop gettin’ all worked up over the small things; you’re gonna end up givin’ yourself a heart attack from all that stress, an’ speakin’ from experience, it ain’t fun.” He argued lightly and pointed her with a look that made her deflate and lean back against him with a sigh.
“I’m sorry.” She apologized, her voice small as she tucked her head under his chin, feeling guilty; so far Goku had been holding up the promises he’d made and yet she was still struggling with keeping up just the one he’d asked of her.
“S’okay, I forgive ya. It’s gonna take practice, but I know you’ll get it eventually.” He encouraged, a slight teasing air to his voice and pulled her back just far enough to press his lips to her hairline, breathing in her scent deeply, humming contentedly as she calmed.
“Promise?” ChiChi asked, her voice lilting with affection as she rested back against his chest and wrapped one arm around him as much as she was able while her other hand traced patterns against his chest.
“Promise.” Goku answered, humming his pleasure when she kissed just above the collar of his shirt after he’d wrapped his arms around her, giving her an affectionate pat on the bottom before rubbing circles into her back until her weight once again sank against him fully.
He didn't bother to resist when he felt the need to yawn and scooted himself a bit lower so he wouldn't have to worry about having a crick in his neck when the alarm Chichi had set would eventually go off and let sleep claim him.

Do you think Tien's numerous weird tricks are all crane school techniques? I don't recall ever getting a defined explanation of the Crane School's philosophy, but learning a large variety of moves would contrast well with the turtle school's emphasis on body conditioning over specialized techniques
One of the things that makes Ten a great martial artist is his flexibility in what he learns. By the time he first arrives at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, his techniques have a variety of sources.
The flying technique Bukujutsu is clearly identified as the trademark technique of Tsuru-senryu.
The Dodonpa doesn't get a specific call-out like that, I don't think.
But it doesn't really need one. It's the signature killing technique of Tsuru-sennin's brother. It's clearly a Crane move.
By contrast, the Kikoho/Tri-Beam is not. Tenshinhan's most famous technique is actually an ancient, storied, and forbidden art that both masters are familiar with and neither is supposed to be teaching.
So while he did learn it from Tsuru-sennin, it's not a Tsuru-senryu technique.
Then we have the Taiyoken/Solar Flare. This one's interesting. Ten calls it a Shin Tsuru-senryū technique, or "New Crane School".
There is no elaboration on what this means. But, in my opinion, the implication seems to be that this is a Tenshinhan original. He conceived of this technique for his own art he's developing, which is meant to succeed the original Tsuru-senryu.
Ten is a genius at martial arts. Like Goku, he learns extremely quickly, capable of reproducing the Kamehameha just from seeing it used at the tournament.
Tenshinhan is on-par with Goku in Kamehameha learning speed. Which is why he's able to ravenously devour a bunch of different techniques and even conceive his own.
It's worth noting that the Muten-Roshi's own reactions can be useful in distinguishing which moves come from Tsuru-senryu and which don't. As Tsuru-sennin's rival, he was familiar with both Bukujutsu and the Dodonpa.
Taiyoken, however, took him completely by surprise. He'd never heard of that technique before, because it wasn't one of his rival's. Similarly, he's flabbergasted by this shit.
The Muten-Roshi is as lost as Goku and Krillin at this point. He has no idea what the fuck he's looking at. So that one's probably also a Tenshinhan original.
Of course, everything he creates after leaving Tsuru-senryu such as Shishin no Ken/Multiform or the Shin Kikoho/Neo Tri-Beam is his own.
But there is one technique whose origins stand as the truest of mysteries. The strangest, most esoteric, most inscrutable attack of all.
Tsuru-senryu technique? Tenshinhan's own devising? Or ancient, forbidden art from the darkest depths of oblivion? History may never know the truth.

The Second Saiyan of Earth fought so hard to prevent the energy blast from the god Emperor from hitting the Earth as he felt his energy slowly fading when an explosion between the two energy blasts knocked Goku Jr back, causing him to fall towards the atmosphere. Unable to find the strength to keep going, is tired eyes looked towards him as he fell closer and closer to Earth. Seemingly catching on fire for the most part but his durability prevented him from taking any real damage. His breathing became heavier from exhaustion as he struggled to keep his eyes open. He could hear his life flashing before his eyes as well as memories swarming like crazy.
"You can relax, little brother...." He could hear Gohan's voice in his memories. Every time he told him not to be scared. "I can tell you're getting nervous."
The next voice he heard was twin. "Look at all we've lost and all we've learned," he heard Goten's voice. Remembering the vividly wise tone in Goten's voice. Everything they learned from their losses became so painfully evident as he thought about it more.
The next voice however caused the same Prince of Fire Mountain to desperately try to find whatever strength to keep fighting. Any strength that may be harboring within. "I'll stay in your heart...." The voice of Chi-Chi, his Mother, said in Goku Jr's mind. Thoughts of all of his friends and family including his wife and children were swarming Goku Jr like a storm as he heard all of their voices.
"Kaka, we're waiting......" He heard them all say as if they were all calling out to him to keep fighting. All while he was praying for them to just give him the strength to keep fighting. The strength he needed to take Zamasu down. He needed it. Tears fell from his eyes, as the fear and desperation began to sink in. "Waiting...... Waiting......."
"Everyone.... Lend me your strength.... please....." He said as he closed his eyes. But then it happened. A sudden surge of energy came to him. It was almost as if his call was answered. But the only way to accept it was to open the gate. He knew what he had to do... Whatever it took to defeat him... Whatever it took to save them... To return home.....
With a blood curdling roar, Goku Jr gathered enough energy and transformed all the way back into Ultra Instinct sign as he began to fly at great speeds back to where Zamasu was. Only stopping when he was present for the god to see him. Quickly entering a fighting stance making it clear that he wasn't done yet.
Zamasu was enraged by the sight of this. First it was the original Son Goku that would defile his ideals of the world as a god. And now his son was following in his footsteps. His clone and adopted brat. It seems that he wasn't completely broken or beaten. He was going to have to fix that. And he will.
Goku Jr glared as he watched the god emperor stare him down before he spoke again. "I don't think you really get it," Goku Jr said, in his tired yet determined state. "I can't afford to die!" His determination only fuels him as he continued on. His energy only spiked up more and all on Earth and even in the realms of the Gods, and other world could feel his energy. The thoughts of his mother , Chi-Chi, his father, Goku, his brothers and sisters, "Because I will protect my world.... And I will get back to my sons...." The sheer determination in Goku Jr's words and voice were evident as the thoughts of his wife really got through to him and completed his determination being fueled. "AND I WILL GET BACK TO MY WIIIIIFE!!!!!!!" Afterwards he would charge at the god emperor, before punching him square in the face before moving again at the speeds that zamasu could not keep up with before punching him in the back, then in the stomach. "For every comrade," the Saiyan Prince of Fire Mountain said as he persisted in his assault. "Every one of my friends, and all the souls who were slaughtered by your hands!"
And was that he then charged up his energy into his fist as he then delivered a massive punch to zamasu's stomach, both of them to fly towards the atmosphere and crashing down onto the Earth around them creating a massive crater. "SIX THOUSAND DRAGON FIST!!!!!!!!" Goku Jr screamed at the top of his lungs as he crashed down with Zamasu onto the Earth, causing a massive dragon made from all of the energy he had gathered, that flew into the sky before turning and flying back towards the two and hitting Zamasu right in the face, causing a massive explosion.
Everyone could feel the immense energy as they all rushed towards where it came from to see the crater and Goku Jr standing over Zamasu before trying to walk away. Seeing his friends gather around but also various energy rifts showed up as they realized what was going on. Zamasu could be heard laughing. Various different versions of Goku Black, Gohan Black and the rest of the different versions of Zamasu and his cultists. "You idiot...." Zamasu said in his pained laughter. "Can't you see? You sealed all of your Fates, just to beat me... You summoned all of my cult, when you unleashed your power. And ensured my victory, and now you'll never be able to go home....."
It was at that point Goku Jr slowly and deliberately turned towards Zamasu. Was Piccolo and Vegeta feeling the rage coming from him. The same Prince of Fire Mountain only began to walk towards him. "You're going to call off your cult....." Goku Jr said coldly as he slowly but surely approached one of Trunks' broken swords that was dropped during the battle.
Goku Black only scoffed at this as he noticed Goku Jr trying to intimidate him. Who did he think he was? Only to then boast about how Goku Jr had still failed. "Or what?" He clearly said he slowly but surely pointed out a major fact that was going to bite him in the ass. "You can't kill me, boy!"
Goku Jr let him speak before he got closer to the blade, his eyes darkened with sheer amounts of anger, and emotions. He knew that there was only one way to get him to call them off. And the fact that Zamasu can't die gave him more of an excuse. His eyes temporarily turned towards Zamasu. "Exactly," he said before turning to the blade which was still a few feet away from him before walking towards it. "I can't kill you, that is true. But you're going to wish I could...."
The Second Saiyan of Earth was seen walking towards the god in the body of his father. Goku, Chi-Chi, and the rest of his family and friends could see the rage in his eyes. The anger felt immense as Goku Jr picked up the broken blade from Trunks. The fear in Goku Black's eyes as he spoke. "Wait.... Wait.... AAAAACK!!!!!!" A scream of agony was heard for the Kai in Goku's Body as the Clone of Goku violently stabbed him. The pain was unbearable as the adopted son of Goku continued his assault. The relentless stabbings were filled with such rage and hatred. Something that Zamasu knew that even the purest of heart deep down were truly capable of. Each stab was 10 times more painful than the last. And it was clear that the second Saiyan of Earth was letting out all of his anger emotion and pain into every single stab that he delivered. Zamasu only continued to scream in agony, as Goku Jr showed the monster that he could be.
"How does it feel to be helpless!?" Goku Jr screamed in his anger, pain and sorrow. Each stab that he delivered was so damn personal. For all of the pain that this bastard had caused. Every amount of suffering that was inflicted because of this man who used his father's face and name in order to inflict such pain and misery. Goku Black's screams of agony did not stop him, but rather fueled him to keep going. "How does it feel to know pain!?" Each stab and word showcased more and more emotion the more this went on. He knew that he could never kill Zamasu. This particular version of Goku Black that had plagued him for so long was immortal in various ways. But he wasn't deterred in his actions. In fact this is exactly why he was doing this. He was taking advantage of the fact that he can't kill Goku Black now. To not only make him suffer and understand what it's like to go through a small taste of the pain that he caused. But also to let out all of his own pain and suffering out. Coming to terms with the fact that this man turned a once innocent boy into something that he wasn't.
The more this went on the more horrified everyone around became. Too terrified to even move. Goku wanted to stop his son but for some reason, something was preventing him from doing so. "I watched my comrades die in Honor!" He screamed with even more rage in his heart as he continued his relentless mutilation of his enemy. His rage became more and more evident with each attack. "Crying as they were slain! I heard their final moments, CALLING OUT TO THEIR CAPTAIN IN VAIN!!!!"
The more Goku Jr continued to inflict his pain upon Zamasu, the more everyone could see the tears from Goku Jr.'s eyes as he continued on. "LOOK AT WHAT YOU TURNED ME INTO!!!!" He screamed in his fury. Clearly not intending to show any Mercy. The influence of Piccolo and Vegeta clearly evident here but that moral compass was still present. Locked away inside that closed heart of Goku Jr at the moment. The Saiyan Prince of Fire Mountain continued to force the blade in and out of the places that would cause Zamasu the most pain. "LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE BECOME!!!!!"
"E-ENOUGH!!!" Zamasu begged in his screams. His screaming became louder the more Goku Jr continued. "STOP! STOOOOP!!!!!!!"
"ALL OF THE PAIN THAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH! HAVEN'T I SUFFERED ENOUGH!?" Goku Jr countered as he continued to slam the blade into the body of his enemy. Refusing to show any Mercy at this point. "YOU DIDN'T STOP, WHEN I BEGGED YOU!!!! TOLD ME TO CLOSE MY HEART!!!!! YOU SAID THE WORLD WAS DARK!!!!!"
The God in Goku's Body was choking on his own blood at this point for the most part as he was coughing it out. "Y-You...." He said as he was being stabbed more and more as he screamed the rest out in pain. "MONSTER!!!!!!" That didn't stop the Saiyan Prince as he continued onward.
"DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT RUTHLESSNESS WAS MERCY UPON OUR-!?" Goku Jr tried to say only to be cut off by Zamasu.
"ALRIGHT!!!! I GIVE!!!!!" He screamed out. "Please... I surrender... You win.... Just Stop... Goku....”
