What You Want Extended Scene

By the time Danny finished explaining his plan, he and Star had ended up back in his bedroom- the lab was creepy at night.

“It’s a good plan,” Star said, reclining in Danny’s bean bag chair. “I just have one question.”

“Hmm?”

“What if it doesn’t work?”

“It’ll work.” Danny said, flopping forward to lay on his stomach. “It has too.”

Star was too tired to argue. Her eyes had grown increasingly heavy as Danny explained his plan, and now she could hardly keep them open. Her body ached from the earlier fight with Desiree, and the idea of repeating the process with Tucker didn’t sound appealing.

“You’ve still got blood on your face.” Danny mumbled. She hummed in acknowledgement. She jumped a moment later, eyes snapping open, when a cool damp cloth began to dab at her cheek.

“Sorry,” Danny apologized, scrubbing lightly. “Didn’t mean to wake you up.”

“Wasn’t asleep…” Star tried to take the washcloth from Danny, but he pushed her hand away.

“You wouldn’t be able to see what you’re doing.” He explained with a yawn.

Star watched him as he worked- his eyes didn’t stray from the task at hand. If Star didn’t know better, she’d think the boy was getting sick; his eyes were dark, skin pale yet flushed. Chunks of dirt and grass were stuck in his hair, and Star started absently picking them out, detangling the white locks with her fingers as she went.

“That spinter cut you.” Danny informed her after a minute, applying a band-aid to her face. “Are you cut anywhere else?”

“Don’t think so…” Star’s fingers were still running through Danny’s hair.

“How are your ribs?” He asked. He didn’t pull away from Star’s touch.

“Sore. How’s your back?”

“Sore.”

Star pushed herself to her feet, and if Danny whined at the loss of contact, she pretended not to notice. “Where’re you going?”

“To find the first aid kit.” Star disappeared through the floor, reappearing a moment later with an armful of first aid supplies; Danny wondered how she found them so quickly.

“Take these,” Star chucked a bottle of painkillers at Danny. Danny popped the bottle open, swallowing the pills dry. “C’mere,” Star patted Danny’s bed, inviting him to sit there with her. Danny sat down heavily beside her, resisting the urge to lay back and fall asleep.

“Shirt off.” Star instructed.

Danny’s face turned red. “W-what?”

“Not like that, Christ.” Star shook a tube of Icy Hot in front of her. “I meant for this.”

“Oh.” Danny reached for the hem of his shirt before realizing that there wasn’t one- his suit zipped up the front. Cheeks still burning, he began the process of unzipping the suit until his upper body was exposed. He wrapped his arms around himself self consciously, doing his best to keep the situation from being awkward.

Star kept her eyes to the ground as Danny stripped out of his suit- she hadn’t realized his suit was all one piece. Though he faced away from her, she could tell he was uncomfortable with the situation. She raised her head as the bed dipped with his added weight.

Danny’s bare back stared at her, a mess of blue and purple covering his lower back.

“Ouch…” She commented, slowly rubbing the muscle gel over the affected area. Danny hummed in acknowledgment, head slowly dropping to his chest. Star caught his upper arm as he started to tilt over, exhaustion overcoming him, and guided him onto his stomach.

“Thanks,” sighed Danny, tension in his shoulders releasing as Star massaged them. He was asleep before she could reply.

I can’t stop thinking about how amazing Danny Phantom S3 would have been if

Steve Marmel retained creative control over the characters and overarching story

We got to see 2 hour-long specials (3? Maybe 3?) each one dedicated to building characters and showing Sam, Danny, and Tucker as they go on their summer road trip together. Could have been used to get some slight ghost-fighting action but also give time for the characters to grow. Danny grappling with his identity. Tucker learning a valuable lesson, maybe about growing up and retaining a sense of identity. Sam trying to explore her feelings for Danny. Maybe after going to her goth festival in the desert she has a conversation about death and it makes her realize her best friend is half-dead and it’s her fault. Danny could think about his future: does he have one? Will he ever get to explore it? What about the IMs he and Val have been sending nonstop? The “I wish you were here”s and the “I miss you”s? There may come a day when Danny doesn’t want to be Phantom anymore. But will the day ever come when the world doesn’t need him to be? We could have gotten that.

Clockwork wasn’t able to contain Dark Phantom. Or maybe he realized he shouldn’t

Pariah Dark returned. Maybe Vlad struck a deal—maybe we could finally see what the deal he struck with Fright Knight was.

Listen, as a Phan, I really want to write a reboot if it gets confirmed. I think to get the reboot we all want/deserve is to have it be written by a fan. Our concerns aren’t about making money or selling merchandise (we DO have great ideas for that though) but rather our focus is on creating a genuine show that will entertain an audience that’s been creating their own content for ten years.

regardless of whether or not butch hartman is involved, a reboot can go very wrong in many, many ways

this would change the fandom’s dynamic where most of its imagination and creativity stems from complete reliance on fan content after 10+ years of no canon content and im just not sure if im ready for that kind of change
