Ooooh nerd!bkg is definitely gonna get jealous af after that fight, seeing you walking around w some other guy 🤣💆🏽‍♀️
see, i think the thing with nerd bakugou is that he's such a smarty-pants know-it-all, right ? so just like his canon counterpart — who is also such a nerd btw !! — he's so arrogant about it ?? bc he's been top of his class, valedictorian, smartest guy in the room for such a long time, and he really does have an ego about always knowing what to do, always having a plan, always figuring shit out !! so i really think he leaves the encounter in the library like whatever, i can totally fix this. all he's gotta do is talk to you, explain his side of things and then everything will be fine.
except he's also such a loser about his feelings !!!! and he has a hard time admitting, out loud to you, that he doesnt understand what's going on between you two simply bc you are so out of his league. how does he tell you hey i didn't think you really liked me because you could do way better, easily ??? he's a fool !!! an absolute goof !! and this man actually starts off his apology with, "you don't know what you're talking about, and this is why you shouldn't be talking to mina about this shit, because she doesn't know, either."
I'M THROWING THE DOOR IN HIS FACE. GOODBYE. HOW ARE YOU GONNA COME AND "APOLOGIZE" AND YOU START OFF LIKE THAT ??? GOODBYE FOUR-EYES.
and the whole thing throws him off, so he's back to the library (N E R D !!!!) trying to come up with a new way to get you to finally hear him out, and he's really supposed to be studying for an exam but — every time someone comes up to the second floor, he's cranking his head around trying to see if it's you, by chance.
it never is, because you don't study at the library. only studied there because of him. instead you go to some cafe on the other side of campus that he has no reason to find himself at — bakugou doesn't even like coffee — but he's just checking. to see if, maybe, perhaps, he might run into you there. and he does.
and you're with goddamn todoroki.

Tumblr media
I have a feeling we’re gonna start spiraling real hard into NSFW territory. Everyone here is aged up, and we ain’t afraid of the word cock on this blog. That being said, bust out your holy water and your vibrators and enjoy the semi-lengthy read!
Shinso;
There was nothing better than curling up on Sunday mornings with Toshi.
Even better on the days he felt like making breakfast for the two of you, but those were few and far between.
Not that you were complaining because when he was in the mood to be a doting partner, he was incredible.
Your personal favorite was having your head in lap while he absentmindedly played with your hair.
Today was not one of those days.
Rather than playing with your hair, his hands were gripping a PlayStation controller with zero intention of letting go.
Goddamn Final Fantasy just came out.
“Toshi, I’m hungry.”
“Go make breakfast then?”
Doesn’t even bat an eyelash. Sigh.
You wait patiently before making your move; you weren’t that much of a heathen that you’d interrupt your boyfriend in the midst of battle.
As soon as the screen cuts to dialogue, you’re on his lap and kissing him hard before your lips travel along his jaw just the way he likes it.
Intermittent biting with rough, open mouthed kisses.
All the while, you’re unabashedly grinding your hips into his, thankful to whatever higher power that exists above that he was only wearing boxers.
“Ohoh, so you’re that kind of hungry?”
“Only for you, Toshi.” Your mind goes blank before being filled with a hazy cloud and you’re now resting your head on his shoulder, unmoving.
Oh this fucking asshole just used his quirk on you!
“At least let me save my game first, kitten.” Is all he responds with, propping his chin on your shoulder to continue looking at the screen.
His goddamn hips are still grinding into while he does it too—cheeky mother fucker.
Todoroki;
Date nights with Shouto Todokori are every bit of a dream boat as you’d imagine.
Whether they were nights in or nights out, he always somehow managed to make them absolutely perfect.
However, nights in were your absolute favorite, solely based on the fact that you didn’t have to wait to get home before ravaging your boyfriend.
It was date night—the two of you were cuddled up on the couch with now empty boxes of takeout littering on your guys’ coffee table while watching some corny romcom on the television.
Full of food and happiness, you snuggle up to Shouto while he’s sprawled out on the couch, your head resting somewhere between his stomach and his chest.
Todo’s hands are absentmindedly playing with the hair at the nape of your neck and part of you is wondering if he’s doing it solely because he knows that it’s your weakness.
“Shouto...” you simper.
“Yes, baby?” He was definitely doing it because he knew it got to you. Confirmed it with the way you looked up at him, seeing list dripping from his pupils.
Without another exchange of words, you adjust yourself so that you’re in his lap, straddling his waist, arms loosely dangling off his shoulders.
The action is reciprocated, as he is cradling your back with his chin resting on your shoulder.
“Be patient, sweetie.” Is all he says before his eyes pretend to focus on the film.
“Don’t wanna,” you mumble against his collarbone, tentatively giving the skin a lick. Despite the rumble in his chest, Todo protests.
“I’m warning you, princess.” His voice is firm, and so is he, but you never were one for patience. You place open mouth kisses just below his ear, nibbling at the slightly loose skin because you know it’s going to drive him crazy.
“Sweetheart...” your tongue dances along the shell of his ear and he can clearly hear the broken breaths leaving your lips.
“Love you, Sho.” Your words are sweet, despite the salacious drip in them.
“I told you to be patient.” He growls, snapping one hand from your waist to gripping your chin. “Guess I’ll just have to punish you.”
Tamaki;
“Baaaabe!” You call out as soon as you enter the threshold of yours and Tamaki’s shared apartment.
“Living room, sweetheart.” He knew what that distressed call was.
Tamaki sets his book down on the coffee table in front of him as he hears your keys jingling while you take your shoes off before you throw your keys on the entryway table.
Immediately, you climb into your boyfriend’s lap, straddling him and wrapping your arms around his neck.
Were you not in a bad mood, Tamaki would be a red-hot, spluttering mess. Low key he still kind of was, but he knew that in this moment, you just wanted comfort.
His arms encircle your waist, pulling you nearly flush against him. “Bad day?” You nod into his neck, letting the steady rhythm of his heart beat calm you down. “Wanna talk about it?”
How in the hell did you get so lucky?
But Tama feels you shake your head no, so he settles for just holding you until you feel better.
“You’re so sweet to me, Tama,” you mumble out into his neck and despite his skin muting the words, the sprig of praise sends goosebumps down his arms. “I don’t know what I did in a past life to deserve you.”
Sweet little Suneater’s grip on your waist tightens, the words of praise going to straight to his cock. Mentally, he’s scolding himself because he should be focusing on comforting you.
But you feel him start to grow harder and your need for comfort is ebbing away, being replaced with the need to just feel him.
“Always so good to me, baby.” A groan rumbles in his throat, the vibrations moving against your tongue as you swipe the muscle slowly along a vein in his neck. “I love you so much, I should thank you for comforting me.”
You emphasize your statement by biting down on his neck before returning to lavish it with your tongue. You always did love leaving hickeys on him. “Thank you for taking care of me, Tama. Want me to return the favor?”
Tamaki’s more than thankful his hero costume hides his neck—it grants you the freedom to bruise every inch of his pale skin. But he can’t fucking take it anymore, and he needs to feel your lips on his.
“Love you,” is all he says before he smashes his lips onto yours, accentuating the statement with the forceful grind of his hardened cock over your clothed apex.
Bakugo;
“Babe, pay attention to me.”
Bakugo fucking hated when you were in this mood of feeling needy—needy to the point where you’d interrupt up while he’s doing homework.
“No, woman.”
“Pleeeeeease, Katsuki.”
“No, we have finals that we need to study for!” Yeah, fine. He was right about that.
But the only thing finals was gonna fuck was your GPA.
Knowing that your wonderful, and you say that wholeheartedly, boyfriend was going to stick to his word, you figure that desperate whores call for desperate measures.
That’s how the saying goes, right?
Regardless, you scoot yourself closer to Bakugo on the couch until your shoulders are touching, pestering him just enough to move away from the textbook and notebook was hunched over.
“The fuck did I just say?!” He snarls, looking at you fully.
“You’ve been so tense lately, baby. More than normal.” You say slowly, slithering into his lap so that you could straddle him.
Arms moving like a snake, you rest them on his broad shoulders, your hands gently grasping the cloth of the sofa.
“You need to relax,” the last syllable of your sentence leaves your lips salaciously before latching onto the blonde’s vein in his neck. “Just let me take care of you, babe.”
His crimson eyes shut briefly, forgetting all about organic chemistry for a moment and reeling into the feel of your teeth grazing his skin. “Fuck,” he grits out under his breaking resolve.
His hands grip at your hips, grinding them further into his rapidly hardening cock through his jeans. “That’s what I was trying to do.” You tease, nipping at his earlobe.
Your fingers work their way down the front of his thin muscle tee before they’re met with the tops of jeans—somehow calmly and frantically unbuttoning and unzipping them to give him some breathing room. “Still wanna study for finals?” Your face to face with Bakugo, your lips just out of his reach with your noses still touching.
He’s wearing a very displeased, disgruntled, snarl. “You aren’t even going to make it to the testing room when I’m done with you.”
Kaminari;
In hindsight, Denki should have known.
He should have known that, with the way you’d been so damn clingy while the two of you were out with your guys’ friends, you were plotting something.
With the way you refused to let go of him or the way you pressed long, slow, tender kisses along his jaw,
Denki Kaminari should have seen this coming.
Or maybe he did and he was more excited for the impending treatment than he let on.
“Fuck!” He hisses as you bite down on the flesh you have between your teeth at the base of his neck.
Currently, you have him pinned down on the couch with you straddling his waist and your hands gluing his wrists to the fabric.
Your tongue laves at the now swollen flesh in a futile attempt to ease the pain. He was definitely more excited for his punishment.
“Should have been a good boy while we were out, Denki~” your words are damning, thick with lust.
“I was!” He protests and, while this behavior wasn’t exactly left field for you, he knew there was an underlying issue fueling it.
“Uh uh,” you tut, moving from one collarbone to the other to give it the same treatment. He hisses again when your canines sink down—he knows you broke skin. “You told Jiro she was pretty.”
Denki has a love-hate relationship with your fragile ego and your insatiable envy. At the moment, he’s loving it almost as much as the way your plush lips trail kisses up his neck, biting as you go along.
A part of him wonders how he’s going to explain all of the fresh, angry, purple and red bruises at work tomorrow. Another part of him wants more.
“You belong to me, don’t you Denki?” You’re goading him with subtle touches of unbuttoning his shirt in addition to the hard bites and broken capillaries in his throat.
“Of course, baby.” It’s meant to come out as reassuring, but all that leaves his lips is broken whines.
“That doesn’t sound very convincing, sweetheart.” Despite your tone, his shirt is off now, giving you an entirely new canvas to mark up.
“I can show you better than I can tell you.”
Iida;
Oh, Tenya.
He was such a straight-laced good boy. It made teasing him that much more fun.
You’re sly and subtle that he never notices when you’re in that type of mood.
Or so you think.
You’re both just nonchalantly watching a movie together with his arm draped over the back of the couch over your shoulders.
He’s very textbook.
As the movie continues to play on, you start scooting closer and closer until you’re casually just sitting in his lap.
“What are you doing....” Iida knows something’s up now, but you’re just gonna play coy.
“Nothing,” you say innocently, adjusting yourself so that you’re straddling him with your arms around his neck before nestling your head into his chest. “Making myself comfortable.”
For a short while, it is rather comfortable, but you’ve got a different endgame in mind.
Your fingertips start to brush the back of his neck, fidgeting with his hair before they ghost over his neck and down his chest.
“Honey...” his voice is low and dangerous and rumbling with his rich timbre.
You ignore the literal choke that leaves his throat when your lips travel from the base of his neck to the spot where his jaw meets his earlobe.
“You’re being so good for me, Tenya.”
His hands are on your hips like a vice before he caves, nearly flinging both of you off the couch.
Thankfully, he’s got you cause you actually probably would have been hurt.
But he’s carrying you to your guys’ room now, all the while biting at his collarbones and telling him what a good boy he is. Definitely has a praise kink.

BNHA CONCERT BAND AU BC IM A NERD
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS OR HEADCANONS AKSJHD PLS ASK ME I LOVE BAND I LOVE MUSIC AND I LOVE THIS-
Izuku Midoriya:
Boy definitely plays a wind instrument. I’m assigning him clarinet
Wants to be first chair so bad, he practices so freaking much I swear
ALWAYS. IN. A. BAND. ROOM. with Iida and Uraraka. They’re always practicing
He’s so confused with music theory, please help him. He just,, WHY is it minor?? WHY IS THERE A SOLO WITH NOTHING WRITTEN?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE HAS TO IMPROVISE WITH THE CHORDS WRITTEN OVER THE BARS-
Ochako Uraraka:
ALTO SAXOPHONE-
She’s also comfortable enough to play 2nd or 3rd clarinet if needed, or even soprano saxophone
Doesn’t have her own instrument, she borrows from the school and she HATES the reeds, they’re crap. When someone gives her a good reed, she CHERISHES it.
In jazz band also! With the same instrument, but she doesn’t feel ready for solos so she’s usually 2nd or 3rd. Bro when she has to switch from swing to straight she ALWAYS forgets and it’s the band’s downfall.
Tenya Iida:
TRUMPET TRUMPET TRUMPET TRU-
And he’s one of THOSE trumpet players, by the way.
“Sir the French horns aren’t tuned” yeah, he has perfect pitch
Literally plays flight of the bumblebee as warm up. Or has his own warm up scales. Never practices right before practice though, he thinks it’s “too late” for that
Has his own trumpet, it’s silver with hints of gold/brass. Takes care of it RELIGIOUSLY.
He HATES having to blow out spit onto the floor, but dude what other choice do you have??
Momo Yaoyorozu:
Sweet angel 🥺🥺 she’s an oboe player
Definitely bought her own instrument
Sight reading MASTER. she instantly gets the key bro, it’s so rare that she forgets an incidental
Definitely leads sectionals all the time. And she does it WELL.
When people (*COUGH* BASSES*cough*) slowdown, she’ll sway to the beat in hopes that they’ll follow her
Kyoka Jirou:
Electric bass or contrabass, give her either and she’s good to go dude.
Also has perfect pitch and knows her music theory WAY more than a high school student should know. She’s a genius.
Her warm ups? Jam sessions with Hanta and Todoroki. She just shouts a key and they go. It’s usually jazz, she plays a pretty constant pattern, Todoroki tries to improvise but hanta takes over pretty quick-
Definitely in jazz band as well. Also in a school competition band (like singer and stuff), also a one-woman-band. She’s in so many bands dude.
Shouto Todoroki:
TENOR SAXOPHONE
Also has a background in flute bc his parents wanted him to have ~versatility~
Knows all the theory in his head, like he knows what’s going on, he just doesn’t know how to explain it
*false note* “sorry my instrument isn’t warmed up, it’s probably my reed”
Has plastic reeds. And reeds ESPECIALLY for jazz.
Oh yeah he’s in jazz band! Loves that he’s like, the only tenor saxophone so he gets all the solos
Rikidou Satou:
TUBA PLAYER IN DA HOUUUSSEEE
Buddy actually brings the tuba home to practice, he drags that thing AROUND.
Always. Slows. Down. But no one knows it’s his fault most of the time, they blame Sero-
Firmly believes in the “basses are the foundation of the orchestra” mindset, he’s so proud to be a bass
Kouji Kouda:
Soprano Saxophone, but can also handle clarinet if the need comes (he just loves the sound of soprano sax you guys)
DEFINITELY in jazz band, but as a Tenor Sax 2 bc he knows if he went as a soprano sax he probably would’ve gotten solos
Is it Momo’s oboe?? Is it Kouda’s soprano sax?? No one knows the different except those two and Jirou
Plays Shostakovich’s jazz suite no. 2 as a warm up
DEFINITELY A SWAYER. He just gets into the mood of the music and SWAYS.
Tooru Hagakure:
Flautist!! She chose it as an 11 y/o bc it was a girly instrument but she really likes it lol
A mediocre player, she spends most of warm up with Mina tho, she thinks that she’ll get to warm up when she’s playing bc I mean— no one hears the flutes
Wanted to main the picolo for the sole purpose that it’s an Ear Destroyer. Aizawa heard the mischief in her voice and said no.
Sight reading?? What’s that?? She has no idea what’s going on, she just pretends to play and when she’s comfortable with the melody, she’ll just step in. NEVER notices key changes and signatures.
Yuuga Aoyama:
LASKHDSJ FLAUTIST!! Also clarinetist. He loves being able to stay where he is during practice even though he changes instruments it’s sort of funny
His cheeks get SO SORE when he plays clarinet though and he WILL complain.
“My flute is so heavy!” Kind of guy.
Definitely has his own instruments and takes GREAT care of them.
Wetting his reed with his saliva?? No, he plops it in a glass of water instead (the reeds are definitely his own, and expensive)
Tsuyu Asui:
Trombone gang bro.
Positions are burnt into her brain dude she’ll never go out of tune.
SO SMOOTH. SOOOO SMOOO- dude she plays so well?? It’s never spitty, but during jazz (yes she’s in jazz), if it’s a moody piece she KNOWS how to make it juuussssttt airy enough to be beautiful
Not that good with fast songs, but she makes up for her amazing ass vibrato and her range. GOD-LIKE RANGE.
Mashirao Ojirou:
FRENCH HORN!!!
Omg he plays like a king. And he’s so proud of being the ONLY one playing French horn, but there is PRESSURE, because a French horn is rlly tricky to tune dude. Have you SEEN it??
Always keeps his mouthpiece with him, as if he’s afraid someone will play his instrument?? Like no dude it’s good in it’s case but you do you I guess
He doesn’t stand out that much, but in the majestic pieces where he has a 5 measure solo?? He gives it his all and he pulls it OFF. Those moments are always the highlight of the piece
Mezou Shouji:
Bass clarinet!!
Once he managed to growl through bass clarinet and literally ALL the saxophone players were jealous AS FUCK
Buddy goes to a low E♭ like it’s nothing?? And then he goes up to like a high high C and you’re sitting there like THE FUCKING RANGE-
His warmups are like, quick scales and arpeggios. Bro he’s so steady when he plays and he could play for HOURS. Sore cheeks?? Don’t know her.
He so proud of being a bass clarinetist, but when he saw an octobass clarinet?? Aizawa better order one of those for him RIGHT. NOW.
Fumikage Tokoyami:
Baritone saxophone. Also lowkey really wants to learn bassoon because it’s such an old instrument
SKSKS he and Shouji sit next to each other, Tokoyami loves to read off of Shouji’s partition and create the WORST fourths you’ll ever hear. Even Midoriya told them to shut the fuck up once
In jazz band too!! Still plays bari sax
Such,, a good,, sound. So,, meaty,, and full,, and HOT. Bari sax is HOT!!
Plays moanin’s intro as a warm up. Search up the song. It’s bomb.
He loves to figure out new sounds with his bari sax. The Too Many Zooz type of sounds
Hitoshi Shinsou:
PERCUSSIONIST. Especially loves the bells, timpani, vibraphone and marimba.
He’s in the back judging EVERYONE. It’s so great for him, he gets to stand there and cringe and no one will know
Totally able to play 4 mallets like the king he is
Surprisingly enough, he’s rlly good in music theory. Like he could probably compose or transpose something no problem
Aizawa’s favourite, of course. Will ask him to sit in front while they play and circle the parts where he thinks something sounds off
Now that we’ve talked about the NORMAL band kids, I present to you,,, the gremlin band kids
Mina Ashido:
Percussionist as well!! She loves snares but you’ll see her pick up castagnettes even if y’all are playing something like Gymnopédie no. 3 she’s a bit confused but she got the spirit.
CANNOT READ SHEET MUSIC. Like notes?? No. She can do beats, just not notes. Let Shinsou figure out the ancient languages dude
Her and Hagakure don’t warm up, they just gossip together.
Did this to Bakugou more than once
SHE DROPPED SO MUCH EQUIPMENT LIKE HOW DID SHE NOT BREAK ANYTHING YET??
Denki Kaminari:
TRUMPET.
Buddy AIMS to have his spit land on someone sitting in front of him (rip Todoroki and Uraraka)
Thinks he’s cool because he plays trumpet, but he always loses count. God forbid Iida cant show up to practice because Kaminari will die
“Where are we? What are we doing? Which piece are we doing? Where are we starting?” Oh my god he’s so lost can SOMEONE please help him
Always gets in trouble during band camps dude. He and Sero are the Bad Brass duo
Eijirou Kirishima:
EUPHONIUM BABEY!! He thinks it’s so cool and he’ll get so insulted if someone calls it a “mini tuba”
DONT GIVE HIM SHEET MUSIC IN BASS CLEF HE HATES IT PLS JUST TREBLE CLEF
So!! Protective of his euphonium. His name is Johnny, by the way. He named his instrument.
When they finish practicing a piece, he’s the first to give feedback. Usually it’s good, like praises for classmates he heard and thought were really good!!
He’s so sweet. Willing to help others during practice and sectionals too!! It’s so sad that he’s literally on the other side of the room bc KAMINARI NEEDS HIS HELP-
Katsuki Bakugou:
Hehehe he’s a flautist. I’ve stood by this headcanon for like two years.
And he wants to be THE BEST. You never knew growling could be done through a flute until you met Bakugou.
CANNOT STAND slow pieces. He wants to go all out all the time, he always speeds up when the tempo’s slow.
Also in jazz band with what? Flute. Yeah, this is George Benson Time.
Will hit you with his flute if you ever think badly of him for playing flute. He’ll defend flute ‘till he dies.
Hanta Sero:
TROMBONIST!!! TROMBONE BABEY.
Will be so happy if he’s in charge of bass trombone?? Like yay??
Always wants to hit Bakugou’s head while playing.
Bro his playing style?? You know the like, lazy-ish trombone playing? But it’s just so full and smooth and heavy anyways? That type of shit.
In jazz band, he’s actually a natural at jazz, doesn’t practice that much so he’s like not even in a good position, buddy just slouches and sight reads.
I love Hanta sm guys I could talk abt trombonist!Hanta forever

Bravado
part two to happiness
pairing: todoroki shouto x reader
warning: cussing. soulmate!au
word count: 4,060
a/n: here’s part one ~ part three
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
bravado: (n) a bold manner or a show of boldness intended to impress or intimidate.
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
“Can we talk?”
You drove ahead ignoring the voice that seemed to be a constant nag in your life. Your eyes focused straight ahead as you gripped your case in your hands.
Cold. Unmoving. Stubborn.
You refused to give Todoroki your time of day as the both of you were called in for what would be the last time as Hero Work students.
“Y/n, come on,” His voice pleads slightly. It was a tone that you would never have expected to hear from Todoroki of all people, but you didn’t care. You didn’t want to hear it from him. “You can’t ignore me forever you know.”
You’re fed up.
Turning on your heel, you glare at your soulmate who had been walking at your heels. His eyes widening as your eyes locked with him.
“I told you not to fucking talk to me.” You seethe lowly. Todoroki didn’t speak as you licked your lips, your mouth feeling dry. “You agreed that night not to talk to me. I am letting you and Yaomomo live the rest of your lives fucking happy together, and you’re telling me that you want to talk?” You shake your head in disbelief as a cold chuckle escapes your lips. “Should I make my name turn gold on your wrist and forever hold your name in black? Is that what you fucking want Todoroki?!”
Your tone becomes too hurt, your true emotions bubbling to the surface. “I get it I’m not Yaoyorozu Momo! I don’t have money, status, and I don’t fucking have your heart! Stop trying to make yourself feel less guilty because guess fucking what! If you feel guilty? If you feel sorry for me?!”
Your chest is flying in a horrible rhythm as Todoroki just stares at you. His voice fails him, but you’re not quite done yet. You step closer to him, your finger jabbing against his chest as your eyes squint, your voice an almost growl, “I don’t want you to fucking apologize! I want the guilt to eat you alive. I want you to drown in your thoughts like I drowned in mine.” Angry and bitter tears welled in your eyes, and yet they refused to fall. “I deserve so much better than some shitty soulmate the universe chose for me. I hope you’re happy.” You smile.
Your cheeks are stiff, your lips are too tight.
“Just forget I exist.”
Even though you were searching for happiness, you still didn’t have it.
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
Seven Months Later
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
Morning routines were now a must for you.
First, you wake up and remove any ice packs and heat pads from any sore muscles. Second, you climb out of bed, your arms stretching well above your head as moans leave your mouth. Third, you removed the wristband that lay permanently on your left wrist at home. You walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind you as you turned on the light. Your eyes focusing on your reflection as you get ready for the day. Hair up, wash your face, brush your teeth, and use the restroom. You stepped back out as you grabbed a tube of foundation, and you looked down at your wrist.
Seven months after finding the person you were meant to be with, and the ink was still black. Except for Momo and whoever it was who had rejected her, it seemed that you and Todoroki were the only soulmates in the world to still have black ink after five months.
Seven months of routinely applying foundation onto your wrist. Forever obscuring the black letters that reminded you of your failed love. A promise to keep Todoroki happy.
The person that should have been yours but who decided that someone else was better.
Next, you changed into your hero outfit. Your costume fits perfectly, and the new addition of forearm guards helped to keep your secret hidden. Then, you stared at yourself in the mirror, a smile coming onto your face because you were happy. After seven months you were now a Pro-Hero who made people feel safe. You were happier now; happiness had somewhat found you after weeks of feeling broken.
Finally, you left.
Your bare feet hit the wood of the floor almost silently. Your body making it’s way over to your bed as you pressed a soft kiss to the still sleeping man.
“I’ll be back later tonight.” You whisper even though you don’t expect an answer.
Arms, however, wrap around you tightly. They yank you into the bed, and you squeal in surprise. Your protests are silenced as his body envelopes you, keeping you locked into place as chapped lips press softly against your temple.
“I don’t think I’m going to let you go,” He whispers to you. “I’m perfectly okay with you in my arms like this.”
“I have to go to work!” You laugh as you put on a weak attempt to squirm out of his arms.
“But I want to have you in my arms.”
“If I get in trouble, you’re so getting the blame for it!” You laugh as you look up at his smiling face.
Blond, bright, and sunny.
Kaminari’s bedhead made your heart squeeze a bit as you grinned at him.
“I just want my beautiful girlfriend to love me with all her heart before her soulmate steals her away from me any day!”
“And your soulmate?” You giggle as he presses a sweet and soft kiss against your lips.
“My soulmate is probably not in existence.” Kaminari sighs as his lips leave yours.
“Who says mine is!” You tease as you stroke your fingers through his tangled mess. “What if my soulmate doesn’t want me and I can stay with you?”
“You’re entirely too amazing to not have a soulmate, first of all. Second of all, whoever is your soulmate would be an actual idiot to deny someone like you.” Kaminari explains as his mouth grazes yours softy.
“What if I want to stay with you?”
“I’d probably piss my pants.”
“Gross.”
“You are too, but here I am loving you.” Kaminari chuckles as you roll your eyes. His mouth moving to press kisses against your face in a lovingly way.
“I love you, Denki, but I really need to go to work now.” You say against his peppering lips. “I just need to…” His lips press against your soft neck and your mind goes blank.
A small electrical shock shoots through your body. The sensation stirring you from your haze.
“I think it’s cute you’re so responsive and all, but you should get going.”
“You’re a fucking tease.” You pout but nonetheless roll out of bed.
You stare at your boyfriend, the lopsided grin on his face endearing as he stretches. Your eyes trail down his body. Staring at the muscles you wanted to ravish at this moment before he clicked his tongue.
“Down horny girl, go to work!” Kaminari smirks as he points at the door. “I’m going back to sleep!”
Your eyes roll as you walk away, finally leaving to work.
“Have a good day!” Kaminari shouts after you. “I love you, y/n!”
“I love you too, dumbass.”
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
mina: hey, are you and kaminari coming to kiri’s bday dinner tonight?
you: we are! why?
mina: kami never confirmed, smh. okay! see you guys here then, everyones coming!
You stared at the word everyone, the word making you go numb.
While you held no more feelings towards your soulmate, you didn’t want to see him. You didn’t want to have to face him. After graduating, you had gone to Miruko to ask about when you two would no longer be working in junction with Endeavor.
Miruko had been all for it thankfully. She had thrown a strong guy pose as she exclaimed about you being tough enough to fight without help. Thus the working relationship with Endeavors agency had concluded.
Twisting your mouth you placed down your phone as you sighed softly. Your fingers sweat at the thought of not being able to avoid Todoroki. Could you really stand a full night of being amicable to a man you didn’t want to be pleasant to? The few days of school you had following the grand reveal had been hard, the two of you were entirely too strained and unfriendly with each other. You couldn’t act that way tonight, you knew that… but could you manage to do it?
A strong hand came slamming down on your shoulder, interrupting your spiraling thoughts as you whipped your head around.
“Are ya okay?” Miruko asked with a raised eyebrow. “You’re being weird and depressed. We need to head out soon though and I can’t have you on the field if you’re gonna be weird.”
You laugh softly as you rub your neck, your chest tight despite the easy-going smile on your face.
“I’ll be okay, I promise!” You say, patting her arm softly as if she was the one who wasn’t okay. “Just going to be meeting up with all of my old classmates tonight. It’ll be the first time since graduation night we’re all able to make it.”
“You’re gonna go see all those squirts?” Miruko laughed as she crossed her arms above her chest. “Well, as long as you still show up tomorrow on time I could care less.”
The resulting snort from your nose makes you groan, “You’re the worst.”
“Oh hush, you do better when I bully you anyway!”
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
“I don’t think we’ve ever been here before.” You whistle as you look at the house where Kirishima’s party was being held.
It was going to be the twenty of you at this celebration. Your eyes glanced back at Kaminari who was currently pulling into the driveway. His hand holding yours as you looked around. The house was extremely nice; too nice for someone who had just turned nineteen.
“It’s Yaomomo’s,” Kaminari spoke, responding to your internal thoughts as he glanced at you. His yellow eyes glowing with joy as you nodded your head. “We were here the other day for Iida’s birthday.”
You nodded your head in realization. You had missed Iida’s birthday dinner because you had been held up at work that night.
“Do you think everyone’s here yet?” You ask as you see the different cars parked in the entrance. “Are we really always the last ones to arrive?” You laugh as Kaminari parks the car.
“We could be the first ones to arrive, but you’re never ready to leave on time!” Kaminari teases you as you both climb out of the car. You held onto the birthday gift the two of you had bought for Kirishima.
“I’m never on time because you take forever getting out of the bathroom!” You complain as the both of you walk hand in hand to the front door. The doorbell chiming as Kaminari pressed it.
Anxiety shot through you again as you tensed in his hold. Kaminari pressed a gentle kiss to your temple, the contact gratifying as your eyes close. Every worry is temporarily forgotten. As the door opens, your eyes fall back open. Your grin returning to your face as it’s Mina who opens the door.
“You guys finally decided to show up!” Mina exclaims as she launches herself into your arms.
“Sorry Mina, y/n took forever as always!” Kaminari apologizes as he gives the pink hero a hug before walking into the house.
“Alright, so a lot has happened since we last saw each other,” Mina exclaimed with a dreamy look in her eyes.
“I know you’re engaged, Mina.” You laugh as the two of you enter the house.
“But you haven’t seen the ring in person yet!”
You talked with your best friend as you went around the house greeting and hugging everyone. Your nerves made your skin crawl, but you still hadn’t seen Todoroki.
Momo was the last person you saw, her smile kind and warm as she embraced you.
Momo is your friend, you repeated over and over again as the creation hero chatted with you about what was happening in her life. Your smile felt fake again as you nodded about all the good that she had been able to achieve so far. Three minutes into the conversation, it felt as if it were eight months before. When you weren’t bitter towards your friend. When you were hopeful for whoever your soulmate was. You knew that Momo had no idea that you were Todoroki’s soulmate, or at the very least, she was doing an extremely good job at hiding it.
Her left-hand trailed to scratch her cheek as you and Mina stood before her listening to her stories with awe. Then something caught your attention. A simple yet elegant band sitting on her ring finger.
“Y-You’re engaged.” You stammer unintentionally as you stare at her hand.
Momo’s eyes look almost confused before her eyes snap to the ring on her finger, a pink blush overcoming her. Mina’s mouth dropped as she began screaming, but you fell silent. It seems that they had noticed yet, and suddenly your entire class was surrounding the three of you. Several hands stretching to take a glimpse of the ring on her finger.
Your world spun as you stumbled back into Kaminari who held your shoulder. You watched as his jaw dropped in his joy for Momo. The love and excitement in everyone’s eyes were so obvious, and it was so evident you felt as if you were an intruder.
It felt ghastly, could that have been you?
You push away from the crowd, but they don’t seem to notice you walking away.
His name burns against your skin as you walk out of the house and sit onto the porch.
It’s cold, chilly and quiet, yet you feel hot as you attempt to still your beating heart.
You thought were happy.
You believed you had found happiness.
So why were you feeling like this?
You deserved someone who wanted you as you were.
You needed someone who wanted you. They shouldn’t care about the universe’s influence like how Todoroki chose Momo without being fated. Guiltily, stubbornly, and pathetically, you wanted to be needed like that.
Yet despite your dumb wallowing, no tears came to your eyes as you stare blankly at the cars.
“You okay?” A voice asks from behind you.
“Just… overwhelmed.” You admit as you look behind you to see Kaminari who looks very concerned.
“Why’s that?” He asks you, sitting down beside you. He puts an arm around you and you sigh as you lean your head against his shoulder.
“Pretty soon all the girls will be engaged and I won’t be.” You lie and sigh. “It’s just weird.”
It’s silent for a while as the two of you sit there, staring at the scenery before you. Neither one of you knowing what to say. Despite everything, you craved to tell Kaminari about Todoroki and Momo being faux soulmates. Something inside you wished for them to no longer be happy, but you knew that it was petty and childish of you to think so.
“This entire soulmate thing is bullshit though,” Kaminari whispers to you, pulling you from your thoughts. “Some universal being decides that a single person in our life is supposed to be the person meant for us? Based on what exactly? Am I supposed to believe that my soulmate when they’re eighteen is going to be the same person when they’re eighty? Will I love them that entire time? Would I love them? Or is it because this dumb thing told us so? Do we really fall in love with our soulmates organically? I believe some people fall in love with theirs because of the dumb tattoo, which makes knowing who your soulmate worthless.”
Your eyes flutter towards Kaminari as you grin softly. Your boyfriend really surprised you at times. “That’s very insightful of you, Denki. Where’d you steal it from?” you tease as you press a kiss to his cheek.
“It was on a t-shirt I found at Hot Topic.” Kaminari chuckled as he nuzzled his nose into your cheek. Your resulting giggles lightening the mood.
“I knew it.” You sigh as Kaminari presses a kiss to your lips.
It’s gentle, sweet, and soft.
Your eyes closed as his lips dance with yours, your heart fluttering as you press closer.
Kaminari cups your face, his head tilting against yours as your mouths share secrets with each other.
You pull away as soon as his tongue pokes against your lower lip, your eyes rolling as you laugh. “Easy there, horny boy.” You say as your fingers tangle into his hair. “We’re in public, and it’s not our place.”
“You think I won’t fuck you in front of all of them?”
Your face twists as you shove him, “I would never let you do that, nasty.”
Kaminari’s sweet laughter makes you grin as he pulls you back into a gentle embrace.
There you two sit, enjoying each other embrace as his hands take yours into his.
Everything’s calm, peaceful and serene.
Your fingers tracing against his palm as everything feels okay again.
That is until Kaminari suddenly tensed, and a bright white light overcame the two of you.
Kaminari trembled in your hold as your eyes widen, soft gasps escaping his mouth as he crumbled against you. Your eyes looked immediately at his left wrist and the weirdest sense of elation and nausea hit you.
There was a name.
It was just a name, and yet you found yourself peeling away from his touch and shifting away from him. Your right hand unconsciously rubbing your right wrist.
“Y-Y/n…” Kaminari whispers as his eyes look so at peace. “Was that—”
You nod your head, a small and happy smile on your face as you point at his left wrist before continuing to rub. “Who’s the lucky person?” You ask as Kaminari stares at the black ink.
“It doesn’t matter,” He says as he drops his hand. “I’m with you right now. What I said about soulmates doesn’t change just because I have one now.”
“It’s not going to hurt my feelings, you know?” You laugh as you nudge your maybe-ex-boyfriend. “I know you better than you think Denki! Even if you don’t agree with soulmates, you want yours.”
Kaminari stares at you, his eyes are obviously full of sorrow for you.
“Y/n…”
“Their name, dork.” You press as you smile broader. If there was anyone in this world who deserved a soulmate, it was Kaminari Denki.
His yellow eyes glance down towards his wrist, and he sighs, “Her name is Jia.”
Your eyebrows raise, “I don’t know a Jia.”
“I don’t either.” He pauses. “Should we try to find her?”
“Let’s wait for her to finish high school first,” you say. “If she’s Japanese at least.”
“I don’t know how to pronounce her last name…”
“Oh, an international soulmate!” You gasp, and your hands cutely press against your cheeks.
“I knew I was meant to—,” Kaminari paused as he stared at your wrists. Your hands dropped as you looked at your flesh as well, your eyes widening as the black ink shone through the foundation. “Was that—?”
“No,” you interrupt, hiding your hands behind you. You shove the sleeves of your shirt further down your hands. Kaminari’s eyes search your face, his finger pointing at you.
“That was your soulmate’s name…” Kaminari blinks as his eyebrows furrow. “You have a soulmate?! Why have you been lying?!”
Kaminari’s voice wasn’t angry; it’s confused. His eyes searching yours for answers, for a clue that you had left behind. But you feel your throat thick with emotion as you shake your head. The tears are back in your eyes, and yet they still won’t fall.
“It doesn’t matter.” You whisper.
“Of course it does!” Kaminari insists. “Is it Mineta? Because if it is, I will personally make sure he never does you dirty!”
“I-It’s not Mineta!” You laugh, your fingers raking through your hair. “You know he wouldn’t have been quiet about it if it had been me.”
“Okay, true, but come on!” Kaminari leans in close, his eyes glued on yours. “Who is it, y/n?”
“No one you know,” You lie.
“Come on, you wouldn’t be hiding if I didn’t know!”
His hand snatches yours and you’re helpless as he drags your wrist into his line of view.
“Todoroki Shouto!” Kaminari cooes as he glances at the name and looks at you, his eyebrows wiggling. “Wait, what?!” He just about screams.
“Denki!” you hiss as you cover his mouth. “Shut up!”
“What about me?” A voice asks from in front of you.
It’s then that you truly feel at a loss. Your body stiffens as Kaminari is mid-lick.
Todoroki stands a few strides from the entrance, his hands holding a present as he looks at the two of you. His face is almost emotionless. It’s neutral, yet curious, as to what’s happening.
“Nothing.” You say immediately as you drop your hand. Your eyes glaring at Kaminari as you wipe his slobber onto his jeans. “You clearly misheard Denki say ‘Moroki Koto’, he's a new idol.”
“I know what my name sounds like.” Todoroki remarks as he stares at you. You can’t read the emotions in his eyes, but you don’t like being stared at by him of all people.
“Can you please explain what’s going on?” Kaminari asks as his eyes shift between the two of you. “I thought Todoroki was soulmates with Yaomomo? You can have more than one soulmate? What the hell?”
“You only have one romantic soulmate.” You whisper as you refuse to tear your gaze away from Todoroki.
“Did the universe make a mistake?” he mumbles and you shove him as you stand up.
“It did,” you say, standing up and brushing off the wrinkles in your outfit. “Right, Todoroki?”
“Y/n, that’s not—”
“NO!” You yell. You glare at him, Todoroki’s eyes widening as he looks at you. “Don’t speak unless you’re agreeing with me.”
“We can’t act like adults here?” Todoroki’s eyes roll as he steps closer to you, his eyebrows furrowed, and frown set on his lips. “I really can’t speak to you ever again? Is that how it is?”
“I don’t want to hear anything coming out of you, to be frank,” you snark as Kaminari shoots to his feet. Kaminari's hands flail as he tries to run interference.
“What’s going on?!”
“Nothing!” Todoroki and you shout in unison.
“Seven months?” you say taking a step towards him. “That’s all it took?”
“I could say the same about you.” Todoroki snaps.
“Yet here I am without a ring,” you hiss as your upper lip curls. “You really went and proposed and had the fucking balls to try and confess everything to Denki right now?”
“You don’t even know what you’re talking about!” Todoroki insists as the two of you face off. You’re so close that your noses almost brush. Despite how your heart longs for the man in front of you it's your anger that prevails.
“Is everything okay?” Momo’s voice asks.
Your head whips around for a second. You see not only the engaged woman who captured your soulmate’s heart before you had a fighting chance but everyone else. But you’re exhausted, and you’ve long given up.
You just wanted to be happy and in love, and you weren’t going to have that choice with him even with his name inked into your skin. You deserved happiness and you knew that.
It’s almost as if Todoroki is able to read your thoughts. His jaw drops to speak as you turn around, presenting his name on your wrist.
“On my birthday seven months ago, I found out that Todoroki Shouto was my soulmate. He rejected me, and now seven months later I’ve been adhering to what makes him happy. So while I do wish you, Momo, happiness and love with Todoroki, I can’t keep being unhappy for your two sakes.”
Everyone’s eyes shot over towards the engaged girl as you turn on your heel and walk away. The tears in your eyes finally drop, and yet they don’t bother you.
You’re uncaring about the shouts and clamors of the truth that was presented. Despite the guilt that bubbles in your throat because of the petty reveal you gave, you feel light.
For the first time since that night seven months ago you feel truly and completely happy.

----------
Another mission accomplished quickly, Shouto thinks to himself, quietly pleased as he hands over one of the criminals they’d been chasing to the police. While there were days that he appreciated a challenge, he didn’t particularly like them when they meddled with his day-offs and dinners with his partner.
“Good work!” Kaminari says, grinning when he holds up a fist to him.
Shouto bumps his fist against Kaminari’s own with a small smile. “Good work.”
“Oi,” another rough voice says from behind him.
He turns, smile softening when his gaze meets with Katsuki’s. He takes quiet note of the few fresh scars scattered all over Katsuki’s arms from the earlier chase, reminded once more on how beautiful he is in his fierceness. Even the casual way he hands over the criminal he’d caught (the leader, it seems) speaks of power, what with the intense shaking of their pupils and body despite the absence of physical damage on their person.
(Interesting, how minimal the damage he leaves when people only see him as a man made for destruction.)
Shouto asks, “The civilians?”
“Fine,” Katsuki says bluntly.
“Oh, you got their wallets?” Kaminari asks this time. Shouto looks down, nodding in understanding when he finds Katsuki picking out wallets from inside his pockets to hand over to another police officer. It’s a skill he remembers seeing from their first time working together too. Kaminari adds, “Damn, you’re quick with your hands! Here I thought those got exploded too.”
Katsuki scoffs, “I’m not an amateur.”
“Pick-pocketing isn’t a hero skill, though?”
“And being a walking taser is?” Katsuki deadpans.
“Hey!”
“Whatever, I’m gonna get the damn paperwork,” Katsuki grunts, not bothering to say anything else as he turns around and away from them. Shouto watches as he heads over to one of the nurses on stand by, who smiles pleasantly when he notices the hero heading his way.
Katsuki doesn’t seem to have realized it yet, but he’s made a reputation for himself with the people he’s worked with over the years.
To the ignorant public who’ve only ever heard of him when he was still a newbie, he would always be the bad boy of UA. First impressions, especially strong ones, tended to last— more so for people who were narrow-minded in their beliefs that humans couldn’t change.
To the people who’ve worked with Katsuki during and after missions, however, he’s the pro hero who made the least amount of problems when it came to arrests, paperwork, or rescue.
He has a lot of bite with his bark, to be certain, but he wasn’t one to give people any inconveniences where he could do his duty properly.
“Man,” Kaminari begins, catching Shouto’s attention again, “I’m still surprised that you’re the two who got together first out of everyone in the class.”
“Is it that surprising?”
“Pft, yeah,” Kaminari says, laughing. “Looking at you is like looking at opposing halves of a magnet, though I guess that’s why you’d be attracted to each other. Opposites attract!”
“I don’t think we’re that different, though,” Shouto say, brows furrowing a little in confusion. They were both honest people, often to the point of disconcerting frankness, and Shouto appreciated having that similarity with him. It was infinitely preferable in comparison to people who liked to be roundabout whenever they speak.
“Uh, yeah you are,” Kaminari says with a raised eyebrow, his tone telling of his disbelief. “You’re pretty calm and he’s not.”
“Katsuki just likes being loud to intimidate people. I think he’s calm on average.”
“Huh. Well, you see him more often than I do after graduation, so maybe that’s true lately,” Kaminari concedes. “But he’s still as aggressive as ever whenever we meet up, just like when we were students. Like with the school concert...though I guess he was pretty cool then! He’s ridiculously good at too many things, it’s almost unfair.”
“It’s admirable,” Shouto agrees, working on melting the ice he’d made as a blockade while speaking with Kaminari. “Katsuki puts a lot energy into everything he does that he feels is worthwhile, and boldly dismisses things that aren’t worth his time. I’ve always liked that about him.”
Kaminari doesn’t say anything for a second, which gains him a questioning look from Shouto.
“Oh my god, you’re so biased,“ Kaminari finally says, laughing out loud for some reason Shouto can’t seem to place. What was so amusing about what he said? Kaminari goes on, “I’m surprised! I didn’t think you’d be the one who’d get this soft just from being in love. Bakugou doesn’t look like he’s changed at all even now.”
“Soft?” Shouto asks.
“You know, head-over-heels in love,” Kaminari explains. He adds when Shouto only frowns bemusedly at him, “Obviously fond? Man, there were so many girls who liked you back when we were students, and now look at you. Then again, Bakugou was pretty well-liked too, for some reason...I guess his face was still good, even if he’s got a vulgar mouth.”
Shouto hums, not quite agreeing nor disagreeing. Kaminari would probably laugh even more if Shouto admitted that he liked Katsuki’s mouth as it was.
“What did you like about Bakugou?” Kaminari asks, tone so casual that Shouto understood it wasn’t a casual question at all. “No one ever knew how the two of you happened, and Bakugou won’t talk about it whenever we get him to hang out with us.”
“Maybe he’s quiet about it for a reason,” Shouto says dryly.
Kaminari doesn’t seem to pick up on the implied rejection in his tone when he goes on to insist, “Still, a guy gets curious! You’re pretty attractive, and a lot of people like you; anyone would wonder what put Bakugou at the very top that you’d pick him out as a boyfriend from everyone else!”
Shouto frowns as he clears out a big chunk of the ice blockade he’d made. “It isn’t enough that I love him?”
Kaminari falters at that. He looks oddly pink in the cheeks, kind of like how Katsuki would look whenever he’s caught off guard by his muttered praises. Kaminari mumbles, “That sounds so weird coming from you, not gonna lie. Not in a bad way, just kinda unexpected.”
Shouto shrugs. “That’s how I feel.”
“I mean, yeah...”
Shouto sighs to himself. Kaminari seems more likely to give up if Shouto says his reasons bluntly, so he may as well. He glances over to Katsuki to check if he’s done, before turning his head away when he finds that he’s still occupied. He says, “I like his unabashed fierceness and sincerity.”
“Eh?”
Shouto goes on, “The way Katsuki doesn’t back down for anyone appeals to me. I like how much passion he has for anything and everything that matters to him. His determination is amazing. Even his stubbornness, while it can be frustrating at times, is praise-worthy in how unwavering it is. His sense for justice is so incorruptible that it could leave anyone in awe.”
“Wow,“ Kaminari mutters, blinking at him in shock.
“Mostly, though,” Shouto says, voice trailing off as he considers to what extent he can be honest with his answer.
“Mostly..?”
Shouto finishes melting the last ice blockade in their way, and says, “I like how Katsuki has the power to destroy me inside and out, yet chooses not to because he loves me.”
“...what?”
“Oi, what the hell are the two of you talking about?”
Kaminari screeches at Katsuki’s sudden presence. “B-Bakugou!”
“Katsuki, you’re done?” Shouto asks, smiling when Katsuki’s footsteps take him closer to them. He’s all patched up now, fresh wounds covered with bandages. Shouto hazards a guess that the nurse from earlier outstubborned him into getting treated before he left. “Is it time to go home?”
“Yeah, I’m done,” Katsuki says, though his easy answer doesn’t distract from the way he’s eyeing Shouto askance. “You were talking about me,” he says bluntly.
“Not everything is about you,” Shouto says.
Katsuki rolls his eyes at him.
“I can read your mouth from a mile away and saw you say my name. Don’t be obtuse.”
“Yo, Bakugou,” Kaminari interrupts, grinning when Katsuki turns his head to give him a glare. His attempt at being nonchalant doesn’t carry across quite as well when his grin is as lopsided and twitchy as it is, though Shouto admires how he tries. “We were just talking about how much Todoroki loves you!”
“I’m supposed to believe that?”
“Hey, I’m being honest!” Kaminari complains, flapping his hands wildly. “It’s rude that you don’t trust me! I’m your buddy too, you know!”
“It’s true, he asked me why I chose you,” Shouto says honestly, smiling at the squinty-eyed gaze he gets in response. “And I said that it’s because I love—”
“Go get treated before you say anything stupid that I already know,” Katsuki says, cutting him off. “Your ice won’t heal those scars, dumbass.”
“Alright,” Shouto agrees easily, before heading off in the direction Katsuki had come from to find the nurse on duty. Katsuki’s brusqueness belied his concern, Shouto knew; it was cute, though he didn’t say that lest Katsuki take back his plan to make cold soba for dinner.
Where others found something terrifying in Katsuki for reasons varied in shape (his loudness, his aggressiveness, his explosive quirk, his brutal honesty— these things, among others, were often cited as things to dislike him for), Shouto saw someone to love. Not because he never sees his flaws, nor because he ignores the viciousness almost natural to him...
...but because he sees those fearsome things, and understands that they’re parts of him to love too.
(Still, if there’s one thing to fear, it was Katsuki’s capacity to promise things.
Things like “no cold soba for a month.”)
------
“Not to be overly nosy or anything,” Denki says, wiping the sweat off his forehead with his sleeve as he tries to hide the way he’s surely eyeing Bakugou oddly. He can’t exactly help it; Todoroki’s words to him before Bakugou called to them were strange! He goes on, “But Todoroki said something that stuck with me, about you.”
Bakugou gives him a blank look. “What’d he say?”
“Something about why he loved you..?”
“Spit it out already, Sparky,” Bakugou says, nose flaring as he huffs out a breath. “I’m getting impatient over here.”
“He said that he liked that you have the power to, uh, destroy him inside and out..?” he begins, before continuing in a rush, “And that he liked how he knew you wouldn’t do anything to him anyway, even with that...I’m just wondering why he’d say that?”
Bakugou was a good guy, for all the time he’s known him. Kinda insensitive a lot of the time, and pretty brash, but Denki had always trusted that he’d make a great hero.
That’s why, he couldn’t help but be bothered with Todoroki’s explanation about loving Bakugou.
Bakugou frowns at him. His glare looks like he’s considering how stupid Denki’s words are, even when he’s not the one who said those things in the first place.
Then, Bakugou says, “Isn’t that obvious?”
Obvious?
What could be obvious about that?
“I don’t see what’s obvious about it, man,” Denki answers. “You’re telling me this isn’t news to you?”
“Why the hell would it be? Isn’t that what love is?”
“...eh?”
Bakugou gives him another pitying look, which is totally uncalled for! He has no right to look that condescending when anyone else would be confused in Denki’s place!
“Even books talk about shit like this, dunce face,” Bakugou says, looking impatient. “Aren’t you basically giving someone the power to fuck you up when you love them without being half-assed about it? You trust them with everything that you are— an idiot would be terrified if they had no sense of commitment in the first place.”
Denki gawps at him.
In other words, what Todoroki meant was:
Because I love Katsuki, I’ve opened up my whole heart to him, knowing that he could hurt me for it. But because he loves me too, I trust that he won’t do that to me.
“Damn,” Denki whistles, wearing a smile in understanding. “You guys are perfect for each other. I doubt I’d see anyone else who could match either of you with that kind of intensity.”
Bakugou scoffs at him.
“No shit. Now go get treated, idiot.”
