So now I can’t stop thinking about how Jake is the human protag, misunderstood and rejected by his community, but found and loved so dearly, furiously, and passionately by Gyro, who is a dragon and who is also protected by his older dragon brothers and sisters, one of which is Godot, a dragon so powerful and bitter towards humanity that he could make Gyro’s power and bitterness towards humans look like a toddler having a little tantrum.

Jake was verily impressed with Gyro’s magical powers and lethal force as a dragon, but in Gyro’s own words, his “older brother” Godot was so much more powerful that he could easily spank Gyro and put him in his place lmaooo

Oh and by the way, Gyro and Godot aren’t literal blood brothers or even adopted brothers here. The “dragon brothers and sisters” title is more like a general kinship or bond shared between all individuals of the dragon species. They’re not true brothers, but they are still family as they are both dragons and suffered shared experiences therein. Oh, and they both HATE HATE HATE humanity with a boiling passion. Godot, when he was younger and still had his appearance as Diego Armando, rescued Gyro when he was a little lad (according to dragon years) and injured by the hands of humans. The experience naturally traumatized young Gyro and taught him to hate humans. By this time, Diego already had a hatred of humans, and upon seeing his “little brother” bloodied, bruised, and branded like some cattle, made him hate all of humanity even more.

Idk but I was thinking about this: kid!Gyro is in his dragon form--small for dragons but still very large, about the size of a triceratops for humans--bloodied and injured, his branded mark on his back festering and burning. Horrified, Diego, also in his dragon form (which is MUCH bigger than Gyro’s, naturally because Diego is an adult dragon), looks him over but doesn’t know what to do. He can’t do much to help him in his dragon form, so Diego shifts into his human form to get a better assessment. But this scares Gyro! Diego looks just like those evil, nasty, vicious humans who tortured him! Gyro flinches back, growling and brandishing his teeth, completely restless, and Diego calmly shushes him, assuring him that everything would be alright and that he--Diego--is still a dragon, despite looking just like a human, and can be trusted. Gyro could his “older brother” Diego. Even so, Gyro’s breathing was ragged and quick, obviously panicked while he lay still and let Diego examine him and touch his scales.

God help Jake when Godot finds out he’s seeing and fucking Gyro and could set him to ruin. If Jake ever allowed harm to come to Gyro, there was no place on the planet the human could run and hide from Godot seeking revenge. Indeed, the older dragon would not rest until the day he could snap Jake up in his own jaws and eat him whole.
