people loooove to bring up all of taryn's faults, betrayal of her sister and whatnot and conveniently forget that this is the very same series where the LOVE INTEREST puts his reputation and status quo above the safety of the object of the affection while she was being drugged and assaulted. like you guys don't talk about the everapple scene enough. cardan was trying to get valerian and nicasia off of jude's back, sure, but he couldn't hold off on his assholery long enough and he just HAD to take it as far as....asking jude to kiss his feet? while she was drugged?

and I'm not even holding this scene up as criticism, because cardan is, as we all understand meant to be edgy and cruel like however awful his actions were in this scene they are completely in character and it would have been weird if he randomly started acting as the saviour.

I'm holding this scene up as a way of highlighting hypocrisy because let's be honest for a second: cardan's actions are a million times worse than taryn's and he hurt jude way more than she ever did. so are madoc's. madoc literally stabbed her, hell.

like I just wanna say that taryn is just as if not more complicated and complex as those two male characters. she deserves to be discussed with nuance as a character who, as a wonderful foil to jude, chose to fight for her life not by literally fighting but by blending in...which is so interesting! consequently, it affects her actions, because why wouldn't it?

like you guys don't get it. wonder what would happen if y'all focused on something other than Jurdan in these books for once, for all that talk about " these aren't romance books they'rebfae court politics we're not like other romantasy fans" ! maybe if you lot made an effort to understand characters who aren't jude and cardan, especially in Holly Black's newer books which don't feature them as main characters! wonder what would happen!

Now let’s go back to God as our Standard: do you see God keeping back any records of anything good or bad in the course of the Natural world?

Let us inspect a little, shall we?

This is where many will love to leave their records: painting only the “good” picture.

Too many books - especially fictions - are written with impressions of winning most times, because we know the readers will anticipate “Comedy” and not “Tragedy” at the end of all.

But what do we see in God’s records please?

Gen 6:6 -7And the Lord had sorrow because he had made man on the earth, and grief was in his heart. And the Lord said, I will take away man, whom I have made, from the face of the earth, even man and beast and that which goes on the earth and every bird of the air; for I have sorrow for having made them. Can you imagine how it could feel for the perfect and infallible God, to have to destroy everything he had made good just because it failed to meet divine standard?

Painful, I think.

But we all know it wasn’t His fault or error in details of creation really. He made al things perfect but then gave MAN Freewill, which was necessary, and then what?

Ecc 7:29 I have found only this: God made people decent, but they LOOKED for many ways to AVOID being decent." GW

God kept all the records of His long-suffering with men and resultant redemptive process or otherwise, demeaning responses of Men.

God is not doing all these evil things to you. I saw in Heaven that God had nothing to do with the evil. I saw that the devil had been disobedient, had fallen, and took humankind with him. He does this by bringing your book into manifestation in this physical realm. The psalmist said, “You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book” (Ps. 139:16 TPT). As a believer grasps these wonderful truths, you will walk in the fear of the Lord and find favor with God. The prophet Malachi wrote this:

Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name. “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “on the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked (Malachi 3:16-18).Please allow the angels to work according to what was written about you before you were born. Don’t be afraid to FIRE bad habits from your circle. Sometimes we think we will loose out when we get rid of “prominent people” who just aren’t RIGHT for us… Someone once said, “It’s not the people you fire who make your life miserable. It’s the people you don’t.” (Unknown). Also, the good book states, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”” (1Cor 15:33). There is a weight you removed from yourself when you FIRE or ride yourself of Bad Company from your midst. It’s disposing yourself from the weight of clouded thinking, lack of peace, defilement of character, and negative social ambience. Keep yourself from bad company and it’ll protect your character first and than your reputation. Expanding on the fact that I think OakWren was well done only in the first book and bad in the second cause I have so much to say on that - Prisoner's Throne could have been a great exploration of how Oak was willing to do anything for Suren as far as being leashed, thinking it would atone for his betrayal - and thus him not quite understanding how it was the fact that she felt grossly used by him for not being told about Mellith's heart, because it her entire childhood was having her autonomy taken away....and it could have explored him learning how her childhood impacts her till this day because IMO Suren only really opened up to him about her trauma at the end of TSH when they were in Nore's room.

Instead The Prisoner's Throne was just....Jurdan fanservice to appease people who cannot find it in them to focus on ANYTHING other than those two in HB's faerie universe, with Suren getting sidelined in her own duology (mind you we never saw her renion with her family which is just criminal considering one of the most powerful scenes in TSH was her talking to her unfamily) and plot holes like what about that promise Oak made to the Thistlewitch? And now her story got over with a half-assed ending where the power of love saves the day and we won't ever see her again and it just....it makes me so upset. The beginning half of TPT has some substance and charm the first book had but as soon as the Elfhame army arrive it dwindles to nothing. We don't see OakWren bond after that. It all feels so rushed and poorly written and it's irritating at best and extremely upsetting at worst.

I hope Holly Black gets better fans than the current Jurdan fanatics because honest to god they ruin everything. Like my one wish is that she changes her mind and Jurdan don't show up in the Undersea book like at all. We don't need them there. Why is it any of their business. Get out.

they don't have the enemies to lovers tension but...see.

oak playing that game with the fox pieces just as they did when they were children and letting suren win but then telling her she owes him a dance

i think their appeal is their tenderness and the way they're so familiar with each other thanks to their childhood friendship. Idk I don't think we should expect Jurdan 2.0 with everything HB writes. Suren and Oak have their own beauty. They're a great example of friends to lovers done well (at least only in the first book) and with substance.

I think the big problem witht the fan service in TPT was that it was to throw in your face.Fan service is good when you fell natural but simultaneously you could tell that is fan service.I rolled my eyes at taryn divine punishment it felt like she gave the fans what they wanted since qon(the whole taryn didnt got a punishment was always funny to me they were acting like having locke as a husband wasnt one)

I understand why HB tried to please as much people she could with it since from what i saw even people who enjoyed her other faerie books weren't big fans of TSH.I agree with J and C don't make good mcs anymore thei arcs endet and most of their problems were solved in a good note.

TPT tried to be a lot of things at once:

1.Fan service

2.the conclusion of the story

3.a bridge for her undersea book

4.Romantasy( marketed like this)

And fails at being a good structured story.(for a book marketed like a romantasy the romance was so little and rushed at the end)

From what i saw a lot of people started hating wren after TPT wich i understand in a measure since she was so little and most of her scene were not in a favorable light.(shes still my fav Tsh character and i love her but her arc was practically non-existent)

I enjoyed oak a lot maybe bc im a sucker for his type of character but i think it could have been done more with his character.

I don't know how a undersea book in jurdan pov will be but i dont think it would be a good one since what they will narate especially in the undersea!

Yeah, you laid it out very well. I am NOT above fanservice. I friggin love the stuff. Case in point: the way I was SO INSANELY HYPED for TPT because they promoted it with Madoc household content which are words to my heart. But the issue is when the fanservice overshadows everything else. Case in point: Wren becoming a side character in her own duology so that Oak's main storyline can happen with Jude. I legit can't blame anyone who hates her after TPT because oh my god her writing was SO BAD in that second book. You can't just have your character do the vilest cruelest thing in the world to her love interest and then remove her from page and later say that she was just manipulated and blackmailed into being mean and is ready for love now. Imagine if the everapple scene happened and then Balekin convinced Cardan to give him an oath of allegiance that kept Cardan on Madoc's side for the rest of the plot except for romance scenes and then in the end he and Jude still got together. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO WREN. Well not exactly because she had a POV book first BUT YOU GET WHAT I MEAN.

Even the Oak-Jude storyline was not all it could have been. HB tried to give them a similar dynamic that Madoc and Jude had, where Oak isn't sure if Jude truly loves him and if she would sacrifice him if she suspected he worked against her. But there is no real tension because we KNOW Jude would never do that because like. That's the entire point of TFotA. I think that Oak slowly growing to resent his family was a fantastic concept, but the book barely gave it any screentime before it was solved. It's like HB didn't want to do anything too uncomfortable because this time around she would have to make Jude and Cardan his problematic parental figures, and that goes against every single rule of fanservice. So we get the worst of both worlds: Oak is a messed up kid doing very self destructive things that Jude is responsible for, but we can't explore them or treat them as very bad because that would make Jude look bad, and who wants to read a book about their fave girlboss accidentally ruining her baby brother's life? (Me I do oh my god I was looking forward to it so much I am still heartbroken)

There's still hope that the Undersea book won't be Jurdan POV, and I am manifesting it so much, because you're so right I have 0 confidence that I would like it.

Why must Records be kept and why did God [intrinsically] keep them?

Rom 15:4 WHATEVER WAS WRITTEN BEFOREHAND IS MEANT TO INSTRUCT US IN HOW TO LIVE. The Scriptures impart to us encouragement and inspiration so that we can live in hope and endure all things. TPT

The Bible was written to teach all Men about God and His Purpose for Creation.

In the same vein, you are also supposed to write down your experiences in order to teach others.

God fills “some” with Knowledge and Capacity in all Fields with intent to have them Teach others and keep the Knowledge flowing down the Generations to all else in relative Fields.

Too many people prefer to keep “best-self” Records only.

Some feel that people will be discouraged by records of failures and losses but nothing could be farther from the truth as such concepts.

By night HE WENT AHEAD OF THEM in a COLUMN of FIRE to give them light so that they could travel by day or by night. The column of smoke was always in front of the people during the day. The column of fire was always there at night.". GWN

Is it possible for a biological father to train his child in absentia? Think about it…

I think it is possible, depending on the mother and frequency of communication between daddy and son.

If mummy regularly reports performances of son to daddy and he regularly talks with son based on reports, promising him goodness for good behaviour and scolding for bad, the son will cope, till the day he sets eyes finally on daddy.

1Pet 1:8: "You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You cannot see him now, but you believe in him. So you are filled with a joy that cannot be explained, a joy full of glory." NCV

We have never seen God before and Jesus only spent 3.5 years with men, over 2000 yrs ago, but that is enough for us to know Him.

John 14:7-9: "If you really knew me, you would know my Father, too. But now you do know him, and you have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need.” Jesus answered, “I have been with you a long time now. Do you still not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. So why do you say, ‘Show us the Father’?"” NCV

Take note that Phillip said:” show us…”. In Church, some believers – thinking it is general – could be quite ignorant about God’s ways while others are having rapturous revelations.

Some, for their humility and dedication, are seeing God clearly while other are still seeing only Fog, Cloud & Fire.

That is why many Christians, after donkey years, are still running after “others” to get revelations of their own father.

Hebrews 5:12 For you should already be professors instructing others by now; but instead, you need to be taught from the beginning the basics of God's prophetic oracles! You're like children still needing milk and not yet ready to digest solid food. TPT

Jesus again (Jn 14:8) told Phillip: “… I’ve been with you a long time… “.

3.5 yrs was long enough to know God, even when they had not received the Holy Ghost.

Today, many of us are over 20yrs in Christ and speaking in tongues of fire, but the kind of compromising demeanour we see clearly indicates that so many don’t know their God.

Dan 11:32: "The king of the North will tell lies and cause those who have not obeyed God to be ruined. But those who know God and obey him will be strong and fight back." NCV

Moses was like the mother to Israel and indeed, would have communicated the God-Life effectively to them if they, at least, could look at his face to see THE LIFE he brought from speaking to God face to face.

2Cor 3:14-15: "However, their minds became closed. In fact, to this day THE SAME VEIL is still there when they read the Old Testament. It isn't removed, because only Christ can remove it. Yet, EVEN TODAY, when they read the books of Moses, a veil covers their minds." GWN

Notice that even today, some Christians cannot see God because of the Veil of FLESH & SELFWILL.

But there is solution: Turn to Jesus and have the Veil removed, then view God with an OPEN FACE (II Co 3:16,18)

The Irony about Lighted Cloud and Fire is that, though they are the opposite of Darkness, which represents Ignorance, they can be blinding.

Acts 9:3 He set off. When he got to the outskirts of Damascus, he was suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light. MSG

Confusing, conflicted Wisdom is as bad as Ignorance. You can be in the Light and be lost too.

Open your eyes and stare into the Light and see your father, or ask him and go right into the Cloud and commune with Him.

Don’t let anyone lead you by the hand to follow God. See Him with your own eyes and follow.

Acts 9:8: "Saul got up from the ground. When he opened his eyes, he saw nothing. They took him by the hand and led him to Damascus." NCV

May God open our eyes to see Him fully, in Jesus name, Amen.
