tonight a guest stopped on her way out of my portion of the show and asked how long the rest of the experience was. this happens a lot since ppl don't always expect it to be a 20+ min show and try to squeeze us in before dining reservations etc, so i told her the answer
and this upper middle aged lady looks me dead in the eye and goes "right. well this was hideous." and walks into the next room.
i have had a lot of guests say a lot of mean things to me over my years in this job but never has anybody stunned me the way this lady did. it was the last show of the night and i was exhausted, my show had gone on way longer than it was supposed to and i was literally about to be D O N E. and this lady insulted me to my face and just walked away.
#finn talks#who SAYS THAT#to anyone but especially to the cast member who's just been running a long chaotic show ALONE#i'm sorry you didn't like it maam but you got in line for it so???????#god this is genuinely one of the most upsetting things a guest has ever said directly to my face and i've had ppl full on yell at me

Diabolik Lovers DARK FATE ー Ayato Dark [Epilogue]
Yui: ( Huh...? When did I fall asleep...? )
Ayato: ..Nn...
*Smooch*
Nn...Aah, you finally woke up, huh?
ー Yui wakes up in the castle’s bedroom
Yui: Ayato-kun...Good morning.
Ayato: ‘Morning.
...Chichinashi. You’re really livin’ up to that name, huh?
Yui: Wha...!? Oh come on...!!
Ayato: Hehe, don’t get your panties in a knot. You can’t blame me for statin’ the truth, can you?
Yui: ( Uu...It’s frustrating how I can’t deny that. )
( But...I guess Ayato-kun feels a little better now? )
Ayato: ...
Oi, Yui.
I...
ーー I’m goin’ to kill that shitty Old Hag once more.
This time, I’ll end her life for good.
Yui: ...Ayato-kun...
( Is that his answer? )
...
( ...I guess there’s no point in me racking my brain over it. If that’s what Ayato-kun has decided, then I’ll... )
...Right, Ayato-kun.
You haven’t eaten since this morning, so should I make you something? Takoyaki, for example.
Ayato: Oh, sounds good! Yes please. Guess I’ll have no other choice but to eat a bunch.
ーー Ah, but just one thing.
*Rustle*
Ayato: You better don’t think ‘bout goin’ outside looking like that?
Yui: ...!! I-I know!!
*TIMESKIP*
ー The scene shifts to the living room
Yui: ( I wonder if I can make takoyaki here? While I have the chance, I’d like to cook various things for him... )
( I wonder what kind of ingredients this world has to offer? )
( There might be a bunch of other differences as well. )
( ...This is the place Ayato-kun grew up at. )
( ...I should try and get to know it better. Even the smallest of details. )
( Okay! Anyway, I’ll start by cooking up a deliciousーー )
???: Where are you going in such a rush~?
Yui: Laito-kun!
Laito: Nfu~ Exactly! The one and only!
Hmー... Say, Bitch-chan? Did you perhaps...have some ‘fun’ with Ayato-kun last night?
Yui: ...!?
Laito: Nfu~ Guess I was right judging by that reaction.
You’re making me jealous...I would have loved to join in if you had told me.
...But well...
I guess you made the right choice, staying close to him during these times.
Yui: Eh...?
Laito: Ayato-kun is the one who made the first move on her after all...As a result, I’m sure he is more shocked than anyone to see her still alive.
As for Kanato-kun and myself...How should I put this...Right...
We just can’t seem to bring ourselves to wholeheartedly hate her. It’s complicated, very much so.
We loathed her to death, and we actually did slaughter her.
However...We still can’t quite claim to hate her from the very bottom of our hearts.
However, Ayato-kun might have been the only one who genuinely despised her. Although that’s something only he knows for sure.
Yui: I see...
Laito: ...Oh dear. I suppose I broke character there for a bit by speaking so honestly~
I’ll go get some fresh air...
ー Laito leaves
Yui: ...
( They all bear different sorts of emotions inside. )
( ...Ayato-kun said he would kill Cordelia, but... )
( Still...I wonder if that will truly make him feel better? )
( After all, when I first met Ayato-kun, he seemed to be in emotional distress as well. )
( I wonder if he’ll end up repeating that same outcome? )
( But...Even so, I don’t exactly know what to do either. )
( I... )
Reiji: ーー You are in the way.
*Rustle*
Yui: Wah!
ー Shuu and Reiji appear
Yui: ( ...! What a strange sight to see these two together... )
Reiji: ...You have this annoying habit of showing whatever you are thinking on your face.
Yui: S-Sorry...
...Anyway, why are you guys here? Did something happen?
Reiji: Wellーー
Shuu: ...Pwaah...
Reiji: Shuu! Is this truly the time to be yawning!? Good grief...How vexing!
Yui: U-Um...Excuse me...?
Reiji: Haah, good grief...
You should not be spacing out either.
I do not know how that woman has been brought back to life...However, right now this is more important.
*Flip*
Yui: This is...
Reiji: An invitation to the evening gala held by Father.
Yui: Evening gala...?
Reiji: Exactly.
Apparently he intends to invite guests from across the whole Demon World, and we have been put in charge of all preparations.
First we must start by putting together these invitations. ...Aah, so much work...!
Yui: U-Um...Shall I help out?
Reiji: Hmph. And how exactly would you do that? I suppose sealing the envelopes would be the most you can handle.
Yui: Right...
Reiji: Haah...However...Why did Father decide to hold an evening gala during the Lunar Eclipse out of all times...?
It is too dangerous, no matter how you look at it...
Shuu: ーー There must be some people he wants to lure out, no?
Yui: Eh...?
Reiji: ...Aah, I see...Those two Founder gentlemen, right?
Yui: ( Carla-san and Shin-kun... )
Reiji: Those two are most definitely an eyesore.
...However, I fail to understand why someone as powerful as Father needs to rely on an evening gala to take them out...
Shuu: ...
Yui: ( ...I don’t know what Karlheinz-san is thinking. )
( But ever since those two Founders showed up, it’s been one strange happening after the other. )
( I don’t want any more trouble to occur... )
Ayato: Heh, bring it on then...!
Yui: Ayato-kun...!
What brings you here?
Ayato: ‘Cause you were takin’ a damn eternity, duh!
...Hehe, so I listened in on the conversation.
That scarfed freak and the eyepatch dude won’t back down so easily.
I bet they’ve still got some tricks up their sleeve, don’t you think?
In that case, we should just send them an invitation or whatever and straight-up call them out.
I’ll crush them fair and square!
They better don’t think I’m gonna keep quiet after gettin’ my ass kicked!
Yui: B-But...
( What if they really do show up and it ends in a fight...? )
( Oh no, at this rate... )
Shuu: Pwaah...Well...I don’t know what their motive is, but I’m sure they’ll show up eventually either way.
In that case, making the first move might save us a lot of trouble.
Yui: ( Shuu-san too... )
Reiji: How thoughtless. What if a fight breaks loose at the gala?
Ayato: Che...! You wimp...!!
ー Ayato leaves
Yui: Ah...Ayato-kun, wait...!!
ー Yui chases after him to the garden
Yui: Haah, haah, haah...
Where is Ayato-kun...?
???: ...What are you looking at?
Yui: Kyah...
Ayato-kun...
Ayato: Why do you seem afraid still...? Che...
We’re already at the point where we’ve tried out plenty of things, no?
Yui: T-That doesn’t mattーー
*Thud*
Ayato: Say...!
Yui: ...Uu.
Ayato: What’s your answer? Huh!?
Yui: ( Ayato-kun’s extremely worked up. )
Ayato: Or have you still not had enough? In that case...Should I remind you?
Yui: ( He is frustrated by his own incapability to do something about the whole situation despite his strong desire to do so...That’s the vibe I’m getting. )
( ...But... )
( Right now, being by his side is the only support I can provide. )
( I don’t mind what happens to me, if it helps him feel better. )
( He can suck as much of my blood as he wants too. )
Yui: ...
Ayato: ...Che...!
...Ugh.
...
Aahー God!
...Listen...
I’m sorry!
Yui: Eh...?
( What did he say just now...? )
Ayato: ...Come on, you heard me...I said sorry.
Yui: ( Ayato-kun’s apologizing to me... )
You don’t need to say sorry, really...Well...It surprised me a little though.
Ayato: D-Don’t be surprised!
I...wouldn’t get upset with or hit you without a reason either, you know...
Despite what you might believe, I’ve been puttin’ a lot of thought into everythin’!
Yui: Ayato-kun...
Ayato: Also...
If I were to take my anger out on you right now...That would make me exactly like that woman.
That’s the last thing I want!
So...I’m sorry.
Yui: ( Ayato-kun’s been trying his hardest in his own way. )
...I’m sorry for getting scared as well.
But you know, Ayato-kun?
Ayato: What?
Yui: I...want to be with you, even when you’re angry.
It’s fine even if you take it out on me. I want to accept all of it.
So don’t ever force yourself to act a certain way in front of me.
After all, I will love you no matter what.
Ayato: You...
...Ugh.
...Well...You know...I’m glad to hear that.
Anyway, I’m sorry. And also...
...Thank you.
Yui: ( Ayato-kun... )

Fool’s Rush In
Part 15
Book: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Liam x MC
Warnings: mild violence
Series Premise: With two weeks until Liam is to marry Madeleine – his pick during the social season – the guys throw him a bachelor party in Vegas. After a drunken night, he finds himself with more than he bargained for.
Thanks @burnsoslow for the beta read.
---------------
Supposedly, the more a person suffered in the name of love, the more it showed they really cared.
At least, that's what Riley thought.
After nightfall of this particular evening -- when she least expected it -- she never realized how much truth that belief held.
Or how much it would hurt to sacrifice the one person who made her believe she was worthy of love and saw who she really was on the inside.
Her dainty arm -- a delicate bronze in color, sleek, with a glittering red strap across one shoulder -- linked through the arm of the man she had grown to love more than life itself as they entered the palace ballroom. Working tirelessly over the last week to ensure everything went off without a hitch had taken its toll on her. All she could think about, as she shook hands and charmed dignitaries with a sparkle in those twinkling brown eyes, was how much sleep she planned to make up for after the ball ended.
This ball was to introduce the King and his new bride to the Cordonian court for the first time. A show of solidarity and, hopefully, strength. A way to establish that what happened in a tiny chapel 10,000 miles away weeks ago between two strangers wasn't a careless mistake, and that she could handle the duties bestowed on her as a common American woman.
Or at least pretend she could for now.
However, for the King and the "Jewel of His Heart" whom he escorted through the curious crowd of pretentious naysayers in extravagant gowns and tuxes, with their fake smiles and tedious posturing ...
It was nothing less than fate.
Riley was the key that unlocked that safe space deep inside Liam's heart that had been sheltered for so long, waiting for the perfect person to come along and open it. This was the place where he kept his most sacred feelings: a genuine love, never-ending laughter, joy, romance, ecstasy, and every dream he ever held for the future -- one he presumed would never exist in any form he longed for.
But she didn't just unlock it. Riley shattered it wide open, where everything came flooding out at once and consumed him like a raging wildfire.
And it was the most remarkable, intoxicating experience of his life.
Liam showed her off all evening as they mingled during their rounds, danced, and conversed with the variance of nobility. She was the sexiest woman in that room, and he'd dare say the looks of envy shot in his direction from high-class men as he proudly cavorted her around didn't bother him in the least. Not that that was her only quality -- far from it. There were so many things about Riley that were special. But he couldn't help feeling a sense of pride that she was all his.
And without question, he was all hers.
Seated at the head table, Riley swallowed a morsel of the veal medallion she wanted to be served for this occasion. When given a choice between fish and lamb, the fish never stood a chance. The memory of that smelly, god-awful lunch with Regina three weeks ago was not something her palate had forgiven her for yet. As wonderful and savory as this extravagant meal, covered in a light brown mushroom sauce and served with a side of broccoli rabe, was, it couldn't hold a candle to what she craved the most: a slice of white pizza from Carmine's back in Brooklyn.
Or a slab or two of the New Yorker.
With maybe some cheesecake.
Covered in chocolate.
And a sausage rice ball. A Frito pie smothered with sour cream. Definitely a rainbow bagel from The Bagel Store. Barbecue ribs and beans from the mom-and-pop diner hidden just off the strip in Vegas.
Of course, her grandma’s country fried steak with white gravy sounded delicious too.
For sure, a fried Twinkie like the one she ate at the New York State Fair in 2013.
"You've outdone yourself, sweetheart," Liam marveled while wiping at the corner of his mouth with a napkin. "The meal was delicious, and our guests appear to be enjoying themselves." The others seated at the table looked up, adding their compliments.
Still dreaming about a fat slice of New York-style pizza, Riley smiled graciously back at him, until she noticed the server refilling Liam’s glass with merlot, causing her to do a double-take.
Hot tears pooled in her eyes, and a heavy feeling of sadness swelled in her chest as she panicked. "I asked for the Pinot Noir. Not the merlot,” she rasped meekly. “You don't like merlot, Liam. And the Pinot Noir was from the 'C' place where Duke Hakim lives. He'll be so disappointed and think I'm slighting his duchy. They’ll all hate me forever and ... wait a minute." She trailed off as a realization hit her, and Riley quickly glanced down at her plate before scanning each of the dishes from those seated around her.
The anxiety intensified; she could no longer suppress the heartbroken sob that wailed out of her. "Where are all the potatoes? We were supposed to have the potatoes, Liam. They didn’t serve the potatoes. Now the whole night is completely ruined, and it’s all my fault. I'm such a failure as a queen, and you should just send me to the dungeon now and throw away the key. I apologize to all of you for my incompetence and the lack of potatoes with your meal." Riley’s red-hot face, full of tears, plunged into the palms of her hands, then quickly sprung back up as Liam hesitantly tried to place a hand on her shoulder. A strong urge to use the restroom ended her crying spell as if it never happened. “Oh, oh. I gotta pee so bad. I’ll be right back.” She gave a warm smile and excused herself as she pushed her chair back and scurried merrily toward the nearest restroom.
Liam, Regina, Leo, Maxwell, and Olivia watched with confusion as she happily took off, not knowing what to say or what to make of the sudden shift in her moods.
“What the hell was that?” Olivia scowled, her eyes fixed on Liam.
“Is she all right, dear?” a concerned Regina asked.
Liam scratched the back of his head, nearly at a loss for words. “I ... I don’t know. I’ve never seen her that upset … especially over potatoes.” He paused in thought. “She was a little on edge this morning. Still, she’s been working a lot on the preparations and everything else going on. It must have gotten to her.”
Maxwell shrugged. “Maybe she just finally snapped.”
Leo shook his head, swallowing a forkful of beef. “Or maybe she has the premenstrual syndrome.”
“Leo!” The group admonished.
“What?” Leo bit back, taking in each of their disappointed glares. “Don’t act like it’s not true. Trust me, when I have cramps and bloating, I can go from a happy little Leo to a Bertrand, just like that.” He snapped his fingers, following it up with a frown. “It ain’t pretty, you all.”
Maxwell looked across the table at Liam and agreed, “He has a point.”
Wanting to shed his skin and slither away, Liam pinched the bridge of his nose. “Can we not discuss something so personal and private, especially while several hundred people are dining around us?”
“I’m just saying, little brother, that you need to be understanding and gentle during this special time of your wife’s 'lady business.' You should speak softly and slowly to her because Shark Week messes with a girl's mind, man. Their brains short-circuit, and there’s nothing left up there but a couple of crickets and man-eating rattlesnakes. One second, you think she’s fine, but if you’re not careful, in the next second, you’ll find yourself with two venomous fangs rattling from your nut sack, dude. She will tear you apart and spit you out like a rabid dog. You can make it through these next few days, but only if you take my advice.”
“That is the single dumbest thing I’ve ever heard you say,” Olivia spat, boring her eyes into him. “And you’ve said a lot.” She turned to Liam, whose face was slightly pale and void of expression. “Don’t listen to his sexist drivel. Why you haven’t declared him insane yet is beyond me. You should have sent him away with that filthy hairball to Valtoria you had caged earlier.”
“IT WAS MONGO!” Leo erupted, causing the dishes on the table to clatter as he jumped to his feet and hovered over the redhead. Every head in the ballroom whipped around to see what was happening, and a deafening silence filled throughout. Even the orchestra stopped playing their classical tune.
A wide-eyed Regina smiled sheepishly as she glanced out at the quiet audience who were waiting to see what all the fuss was about. She thought fast before calling out, “We were just playing a little game of … 'It was Mongo.'” The former queen snatched Maxwell’s Sunset Rum punch from his hand, thrusting the drink up at her stepson, towering beside her, and instructed in a grandmotherly tone, “Be a good lad, Leo. You lost this round. It's time to chug-a-lug, my boy.” With his face burning, Liam slid down in his seat.
“Ooooo, I wanna go next.” Maxwell bounced excitedly while the guests resumed the festivities. "How do we play?"
“I think I want to go, too,” Liam replied, straightening back up before hurling his napkin on the table. “I’m going to go find Riley.”
-----------------
Riley exited the ladies' room, clutch in hand and a fresh dab of clear gloss gleaming on her pink lips. She stopped walking just as the door closed behind her and smiled with a look of surprise at seeing Liam leaning against the opposite wall. "What are you doing out here?"
He pushed himself off the wall, closing the distance between them and meeting her in the middle of the empty corridor. They wrapped their arms around each other, indulging in the warmth of their lovers' embrace. "Would you believe me if I told you I just missed you?" he answered, placing a tender kiss on her lips that skimmed lower to her jawline.
"I missed you, too," she moaned with each gentle pressure of his seductive lips, suckling and nibbling along the spot that trailed behind her ear that he knew drove her crazy. "But something tells me that's not the only reason you left the ballroom."
Their gazes met simultaneously. "Leo."
Riley chuckled softly. "Do I even want to know?"
Liam sighed, smoothing back a loose hair behind her ear. "You know my brother and his wonderful words of wisdom." There was no way in hell he would tell her what they really discussed after she left; he could only imagine her embarrassment. "Everyone was just a little worried about you, that's all."
"I didn't mean to scare everyone. I just wanted tonight to be perfect. Instead, so many things went wrong. I can only assume what the court thinks about me now." She lowered her gaze to the red carpeting where they stood. "I let you down."
"I don't want to ever hear you say that again. Riley, sweetheart, you can never let me down. Do you understand that?" Liam lifted her chin; her tentative eyes stared back at him for a moment before nodding. "Good. And just so you know, our guest are used to bombings, stabbings, kidnappings, shootings, and terror plots at most of my palace events --"
"Wait. What?"
" -- I assure you, just the fact alone, that none of that took place tonight, and they're all going to leave here soon -- alive -- will be huge for them. Not having potatoes with the meal or the right wine was the least of their worries. They will consider this night a success. And a testament to their new queen. You should, too. I'm so very proud of you."
"I have so many questions about everything you just said."
Liam smiled, caressing Riley's petal-soft cheeks and lowering his head to kiss her again. "All in due time, my love.”
Riley let out a deep, drawn-out yawn she lightly covered with her palm before stretching and rolling her neck. A couple of weeks' worth of planning and endless decisions had left heavy tension in her shoulders and overwhelming exhaustion like nothing she'd felt before. None of it went unnoticed by Liam, who placed his hands on her shoulders and gingerly kneaded the taut muscles.
"What do you say about heading back to our quarters, taking off all of your clothes, and I'll be up soon to massage this gorgeous body from head to toe? And hopefully, when I'm through, you'll massage parts of me, too … with any part of your body that you'd like." His lips curved into an inviting smile.
"Mmm, that's tempting," she purred, rubbing her hands over his ample chest. "But I can't just leave. It's the Queen's Ball. Without me, it's just ... The Ball." She chuckled, despite herself.
“Don’t you worry your pretty little panties over the ball. Just go upstairs and take them off. I’ll handle everything down here. Then … “ He squatted down to her eye level. “ … I’ll handle you.”
Her heart fluttered every time Liam spoke to her that way. The way he desired only her. She bit the corner of her lip teasingly. “I love you so much.”
Liam smiled. “You better. You’ve got one hell of a husband. I’d even venture to say you’re the luckiest woman on the whole damn planet right now.” Before Riley could respond to his jest, he put both of his hands on her cheeks to hold her head still and began placing playful, wet smooches all over her face, causing her to laugh riotously. After a few seconds of her squirming around and cackling at his antics, he paused to look at her. “You know I love you, too. Now go on up. I’ll be right behind you soon.”
With a pat to her backside, they went their separate ways.
---------
Liam returned to the ballroom, having offered to finish what little time was left without her. He would offer his apologies for her absence, but in reality, the King couldn’t have cared less what anyone there thought. Since his bachelor party weeks ago, he had grown from a man who had no choices to one who made his own. His marriage and relationship with Riley came first. Her wellbeing was the main priority -- to hell with anyone who had a problem with that.
As Riley placed a hand on the elegant wooden handrail of the grand staircase and took the first step up, her thoughts meandered to where she had been in her life one month ago and how vastly it had changed in such a short time. For the first time in years, she was happy, and it felt so good to be in that place where she could finally let go of the past and move on. Liam was a game-changer, and she was thoroughly convinced he was the only person on the planet who could have gotten her out of her own head and to this level of blissful existence.
Rounding the corner at the top of the stairs, she reached into her clutch to pull out the key card to her quarters, exhaustion slowing her strides. Shuffling past a row of closed office doors and framed artwork, she made her way to the residential wing.
The squeak of a door behind her and the click of heels drew her attention, causing her to stop and turn to see who was there.
The color drained from her face as Madeleine casually stepped out, her hands behind her back and a devious, unsettling grin cemented on her face.
It wasn't the fear that made Riley's heart pound with a sickening thud, but more shock than anything. No one had seen or spoken to the Countess since the confrontation in Las Vegas when she showed up unexpectedly after finding out Liam had married Riley the night prior.
Now, suddenly, there she was, as if out of nowhere, a gleam in her eye, looking all too pleased to have this run-in with Riley.
"A little dramatic, don't you think?" Riley scoffed, taking one step back the closer Madeleine approached. "What are you even doing here?"
"I'm not going to hurt you, if that's what you're worried about," she answered contemptuously. Her green eyes drifted to one of the cameras mantled at each end of the hallway. Riley placed a shaky hand over her stomach, letting out a low, relieved breath, hoping that was the truth. "Not physically, anyway."
"Well, that sounds promising," Riley replied sardonically. "Now, if you don't mind ..." She turned away, wanting nothing more than to escape this conversation and make it back to her quarters.
Madeleine reached out and grabbed the Queen by her elbow, pulling her back and harshly twisting her around so they were now face-to-face. "You're not going anywhere until I'm through with you," she hissed with an icy glare. "I told you I would make you regret what you've done."
Riley jerked her arm, trying to free herself. "Let go of my arm, Madeleine!"
"Not until you hear what I have to say."
"I'm not interested in anything you have to say! Now LET ME GO!" Riley hoped someone heard her yell or at least witnessed what was happening on the camera. Where the hell is security?
While continuing to struggle to free herself, she reached up with her free hand in an attempt to pry off Madeleine's bony fingers that were squeezing tight grooves around her elbow, her manicured nails digging deeper into Riley's skin. "You're hurting me. I said to let me go."
"Very well, then." The woman, who had twice lost her chance at the crown, released her firm grasp, knowing that the momentum would cause Riley to stumble back as soon as she let go.
Just as predicted, Riley planted a foot behind her for leverage before drawing her arm back as hard as she could, one last time. Her eyes grew wide, and she let out a sharp gasp that sounded well down the corridor. Riley sailed backward, tripping over herself and toppling to the ground. She finally landed with a hard blow on her backside, the rear of her head just inches from slamming to the floor.
A shockwave of pain coursed up Riley's spine from hitting so abruptly. Before she had a chance to respond or process what happened, Madeleine crouched down beside her, holding a DVD up and gaining Riley's attention.
The pain had morphed into a throbbing ache that was soon forgotten as the Queen stared quizzically at the object displayed in front of her like a grand prize.
"What is that?" her voice trembled.
"It's my ace in the hole," Madeleine stated, then wagged a finger. "Someone used to be a very naughty girl."
Furrowing her brows, Riley responded. "I don't know what you mean."
"You know precisely what I mean, but just in case, please allow me to refresh your memory," Madeleine smirked before rising to her feet and prancing around as if she were having the time of her life. "I did a little digging after my brief visit to Las Vegas and came across a man who knew you very, very well at one time. I made some calls. We exchanged e-mails, a transfer of money or two. And he was all too eager to accept my offer of payment for any dirt he could give me on you."
There was no point in asking "who" -- she already knew; the thought made her nauseous. Riley closed her eyes and muttered. "Tyler?"
"Yes," Madeleine beamed, " Your ex-husband. He had a lot to say about you."
"I'm sure he did. Does it even matter to you that he's a liar and a cheat -- not to mention greedy? He would make up anything if he thought he could profit off of it."
"Oh, it matters. Personally, I don't believe a damn thing he had to say. Honestly, Riley ... even someone like you could have done better than that slime."
Riley cringed in pain as she pushed herself off the floor and turned to her oppressor. "Just get to the point, Madeleine. Clearly, he gave you something you thought was valuable enough to use against me, so just spit it already."
Madeleine smiled, "How very astute of you. You're correct. He did." She held up the disc as Riley regarded it suspiciously. "On this disk are several hours of the two of you ... together. Very graphic, if I do say so myself." Riley's jaw dropped upon hearing those words as Madeleine continued, "Now don't worry. I only watched it long enough to make sure the video was legit --"
"Give me that!" Riley reached out to snatch the DVD, but Madeleine pulled it away just out of her grasp. A burning sensation filled inside her chest and spread across her face. "You're lying. I never made videos like that."
"Oh, I think you did," the blonde countered with a mirthful tone. "You just didn't know about it. Your ex admitted as much to me ... an asshole move, for sure. But nonetheless, I purchased the copy from him for a hefty sum. And ... well ... here we are now. You're more than welcome to take this disc and see for yourself; I have it downloaded as a backup, knowing you'd want proof."
At that moment, all Riley wanted was for Liam to walk down that corridor where she now stood, pick her up in his arms, whisk her away to safety, and tell her it was all a bad dream. Not that she did anything wrong -- she was married at one time to the man, presumably on the video, and would have been a consenting adult.
No, it was the fact that Tyler Brooks had taken intimate videos with her during their marriage, without her knowledge. Now Madeleine had possession of them.
God only knew what she planned to do with them, but Riley had a pretty good idea. "What do you want?" she whispered in defeat, afraid to hear the answer.
Madeleine grinned from ear-to-ear. "For you to leave Cordonia tonight and never return, or I release everything to the press."
Riley shook her head. "No. As much as I don't want anyone to see that video, I did nothing wrong, and I won't be blackmailed or intimidated by you so that you can get your grubby little paws on the crown."
"Is that so?" It wasn't a question so much as a remark meant to convey who was in control.
Maintaining her position, Riley raised a brow, refusing to give in.
Madeleine was far from giving up, though; she had manipulation in her blood. "Very well, then. I'll release the video in the morning. It should be interesting to see how the world reacts to yet another scandal by this monarchy. Their Queen plastered all over the internet again, except this time, uploaded on every porn site on the web.
"The news will run the story with your blurred-out silhouette in the background. Your father will see it, and his business will become a target.: Your friends. Family. Students. They'll all be inundated with your sexual proclivities. But the worst part will be the tribunal. The council will have no choice but to question Liam's decision-making abilities after not only squandering his pick of queen on some American nobody, but now one whose ass will be featured on the desktops of teenage boys across the world. It's a shame that he'll lose his reign, all because of you. Would you really do that to Liam? Do you genuinely believe you're worth all the trouble it will cause him?"
Riley froze. She knew Madeleine was taunting her with the people she cared about the most. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass each of them. But to possibly cause Liam to lose his legacy, his birthright, and the rulership of a country he loved so much? It was something she couldn't shake.
Staring blankly, twisting the bands of gold that belonged to Liam's mother, she couldn't get the question Madeleine just asked out of her mind: Did Riley believe she was worth the trouble it would cost him?
Nothing was damning on that video, aside from the fact that she never knew it existed. But she already had so much to prove; another video in the press' hand would tarnish Liam. Maybe the Countess of Fydelia was right: He would lose it all.
"Time is ticking," Madeleine reminded Riley as she tapped her watch. "What's it going to be?"

The Receptionist and the Profiler (Five)
Chapter Five: Royal Blue Napkins
(Spencer Reid x f!Reader)
Series Masterlist
General Masterlist
A/N: i have totally reinvented the timeline of the show, just go with me. also...this chapter will take you on a RIDE.
Going home that night and getting into bed with her fiance was difficult for Y/N. Of course she knew it was technically wrong to have kissed Spencer back, but the problem is that she enjoyed it so much. Too much, probably. And that was alarming. Was it just because she was bored of kissing the same person for the past...what..11 years and just needed a (really) good kiss before she spent the rest of her life kissing the same man? Or was it because she knew that every neuron in her brain was usually firing at top speed at the near mention of Spencer Reid let alone finally know how her brain acted (nearly exploded) while kissing him?
The wedding was less than a month away now and Hotch was gracious enough to allow Y/N extra time out of the office, when things were calm, to meet with her wedding planner to finalize some decisions about the cake, venue, napkins, all that good stuff. In the middle of it, she caught herself wondering whether or not Spencer would like the color of napkin she chose, instead of her actual fiance. That was enough, the thought of Spencer now invaded officially every aspect of her life. She didn’t know what to do so she cornered JJ one day in her office and hurriedly shut the door behind her.
“JJ, I am freaking out about all this wedding stuff. I-I don’t know if I picked the right color for the napkins, oh God, I don’t even like royal blue! I just picked it because Grant likes it but what if it sucks because I don’t actually like it and it doesn’t match with the centerpieces and I-” she rambled but JJ promptly cut her off.
“Hey! Y/N, relax, take a seat. Take a deep breath.” Y/N followed her suggestions that felt more like orders and JJ watched her carefully, she wasn’t a profiler but she spent enough time around them to have picked up on subtle clues. She knew the woman sitting in front of her was an anxious mess and it was not about the napkins, “Now, tell me what’s wrong.”
“I don’t know if I like the napkins, JJ.” Y/N’s brows came together and she suddenly felt like crying, she couldn’t explain it, but she felt it.
“Y/N, you and I both know that napkins don’t make or break weddings.” JJ sent her a pointed look and Y/N began to feel small. She picked at her nails.
“Yeah? Well what does?” Y/N asked vaguely.
“What breaks weddings is an absence of love, Y/N.” She said simply and Y/N couldn’t help the frown that crept up on her face, but the blonde said nothing more.
The walk back to her desk was spent trying with extreme difficulty to not split her lip open from biting it too hard. The energy in the entire office was off, although Spencer has a new specific energy to him. He seems lighter somehow, he feels lighter too. Morgan doesn’t know exactly what happened between them but he could sense the shift in Reid’s behavior.
They’ve interacted, though briefly. Spencer pretended there was nothing wrong between them, while Y/N mulled over every interaction. Spencer literally had nothing left to lose, she’d made her choice and he’d accepted that, made peace with it even. He’d even gone as far as putting himself out there on the market. It was time to move on. There was just one aspect of the upcoming month that would make it extremely difficult to do so, so he made a decision.
“Hey, Y/N. Could I talk to you for a second?” Spencer said, leaning with his elbows over her desk as it neared their lunchtime.
“Yeah, of course, just one second... just saving this document. What’s up?” She smiled as she stared up at him, she was sure her heart was about to light on fire in her chest with the mere eye contact.
“Um, so you know how I’ve been meaning to visit my mom back in Vegas for a while now but I haven’t got the chance?” He began, idly playing with one of the candies in the candy bowl that was placed for guests.
“Yeah, of course! Are you planning on going?” She smiled wider, knowing just how much love this man had in his heart for his wonderful mother. Y/N had met Diana when she came into the office a few years back, actually she was the only one who Diana allowed to spend time with while the rest were in the field. Apparently, Spencer had told her more than enough information about Y/N before in his daily letters. Diana liked her years before she even met her.
“Yeah, I’m taking a week off, actually. I’m gonna spend it with her, I’ve missed her a lot.” The corner of his mouth twitched upwards slightly as he thought of the week off.
“That’s so awesome Spencer! Will you tell her how much I’ve missed her, oh, I know! I’ll just write her a letter and you can take it with you. When are you going by the way? Do I have time to write it?” She worried slightly, grabbing a pen in preparation and making Spencer laugh lightly at her excitement.
“Yes, yes you’ll have time. I’m leaving on the 16th of August, already booked the ticket.” His voice faltered slightly as he said the date.
“Wait, the 16th? But that means…” He won’t attend the wedding.
“I know, I’m sorry I can’t make it.” He genuinely frowned, knowing just how upset this would make her. Despite their feelings for one another, they were the closest of friends.
“Th-that’s okay! Um, we’ll just send you all the, uh, pictures and stuff.” Her bright smile faltered and Spencer swore he heard a tremble in her voice, the one she made when she was trying to hide how upset she really was.
“Yeah, send me all the pictures, I’m really sorry again, Y/N.” He sent her a look of sympathy, but she understood, he didn’t want to be there.
“No, no it’s okay. I get it, there’s only so many other weeks in the year you could take off, I guess.” she laughed bitterly, very obviously hurt, “Um, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go now. I have something um, for Hotch--Hotch asked for something.” She picked up a random file from her desk and quickly made her way across the bullpen and Spencer’s eyes stopped following her when she entered Hotch’s office. He released a heavy sigh and turned on his heels to leave the building for a lunch that was anywhere but there.
“What can I do for you, Y/N?” Hotch asked, barely looking up from his file at first but then her silence intrigued him to look up, spotting her watching from the window as Spencer left, “Everything alright?” His voice startled her and he immediately took in her glassy eyes and the nervous trembling of her fingers.
“Huh? Oh, um, yes, everything’s fine. Did you...ask for these?” She took a look at what she’d actually picked up and realized they were a bunch of useless forms that the unit chief certainly did not need to waste his time on. It was hard to hide his smirk, having figured out what had happened.
“Do you need to take a seat, Y/N?” He saw right through her, of course he did. She drew in a deep, shaky breath and shook her head.
“Did you know?” She asked in a small voice.
“He ran it by me, yes. I have to approve his time off. If it’s any consolation, I tried to-” He begad, but she interrupted.
“No, please. I’ve heard enough. Thanks Hotch.” She frowned as she made her way out of his office, praying that her tears would--just for once--stay within her waterline.
After that, Y/N barely spoke with Spencer. She found it hard to find the line between being upset with him and understanding why he’s doing what he’s doing. On one hand, she selfishly wanted her best friend to be at her wedding, but on the other, she understood that that was a huge thing to ask from the other man who loved her. He loved her. He loves her. That’s mind boggling to Y/N. Spencer loves her? Even almost 3 weeks after his confession, it’s all she can think about. He’s in love with her.
It was almost time for him to leave for Vegas. Despite her anger with Spencer, she still wrote Diana a letter. Upon finishing and sealing it, she realized she hadn’t even mentioned the wedding once. The (supposedly) single most important event that she would ever attend in her lifetime hadn’t even crossed her mind. She didn’t even give him the letter, she just left it on his desk for him to take. Despite that, Spencer still smiled at the fact that she’d written his mother a letter. His curiosity was killing him, but he’d just ask his mom what she’d written. At the end of the day before he left, he paused at Y/N’s desk, but she refused to look up.
“Bye, Y/N. Um, congratulations in advance.” Spencer spoke, clutching his messenger bag tightly, hoping she’d just look at him once. Hoping he’d get to see her eyes one last time before her soul was tied to another man’s for the rest of eternity.
“Bye, Spencer...have a safe flight.” She replied quietly, busying herself with whatever she was working on on her computer. A beat passed between them as Spencer waited to meet her eyes, but the moment never came. Pre-love confession Spencer would have gone on and on about how he technically had no control over whether or not it would be a safe flight, but now...now he knew his voice was the last thing she’d want to hear. His shoulders involuntarily slumped as he began to walk away from the love of his life. He knew he couldn’t be at that wedding, he just knew it. Hasn’t he been through enough already? Was life that adamant about making him hurt so badly?
But alas, fate was never on their side. Moments before boarding the plane to Vegas and barely three days before her wedding, the team was called in for an emergency case. She had taken a few days off before the wedding to get everything sorted and thankfully, the case was local so she didn’t have to book any hotel rooms or coordinate with the pilots of the jet.
She had invited Garcia out with her to get a bridal manicure and pedicure on her lunch break, since she was the only one available.
“Pen, are you sure they don’t need you right now? I don’t want to interrupt the case.” Y/N signed into the phone.
“Trust me, Y/N/N, they don’t need me right now, besides this is the least I could do. All your plans for the week-of have been kinda ruined by this case. I wanna help you out the best I can! So I’m picking you up in 10 and we’re getting our nails done.” Y/N knew better than to argue with Garcia so she relented.
Near the end of their appointment, Garcia got a call from Hotch, “He’s what?! Oh no! Is he okay?! He’ll be okay, right?” Garcia half-panicked, sending Y/N right into a panic with her. Garcia paused and Hotch spoke over the phone, “Okay, we’ll be there as soon as we can.” She hung up and took a deep breath.
“Garcia, what happened! Is everyone okay?” Y/N asked hurriedly.
“Uh, no...actually Reid got shot in the field. The unsub shot him in the knee while trying to aim for the victim.” Garcia spoke slowly so as to not alarm her, but it was too late, Y/N was already pulling her hands away from the nail tech, who was almost done.
“WHAT?! Garcia! We have to go now! Is he okay?! Is he in the hospital? What hospital is he at? I’ll drive.” Y/N panicked, her breathing getting more and more shallow by the second.
“Y/N/N, calm down! Calm down! He’s fine, okay? He’s in surgery and you should absolutely not be driving right now. Take a few deep breaths please.” Her emotions were already all over the place because of the damn wedding, and now she had to worry about Spencer getting shot? Oh Lord, it was too much for her to handle.
“Garcia, I think I’m gonna pass out.” Y/N fanned her face and the waterworks began. Garcia quickly asked the nail tech if she could get Y/N some water.
“Oh! Oh, Y/N, baby don’t cry, please. He’ll be okay, he’ll probably be on crutches for a while but he’ll be fine.” Garcia tried to console her but the tears just kept coming. Y/N should have felt embarrassed whilst sobbing in the middle of the nail salon, but she was too overwhelmed to care at the moment.
“I’m so sorry Garcia, it’s just all too much. I don’t want royal blue napkins, Garcia! I don’t even think I want a damn wedding! And I-I can’t believe Spence just got shot! This all just feels so wrong! You know what, this is all just one big warning sign from the universe, isn’t it?! And--and I don’t even want to marry Grant!” She blurted randomly in her fit of tears and she stopped crying out of realization of what she’d just confessed. Garcia gasped and her friend met her eyes, they stared at each other for a moment before Y/N broke out into tears again at the confession.
It was true.
She didn’t want to marry him.
Garcia apologized profusely to the nail techs and paid quickly before leading an almost hysterical Y/N out of the salon.
Y/N clung to Penelope and sobbed into her shoulder on the sidewalk, “I don’t want to marry him, Garcia.”
“Y/N, the wedding is tomorrow.” Garcia’s eyes welled up with tears at the sight of her friend being so broken. Y/N shook her head and sniffled loudly, “Are you sure you’re not just super upset about Spencer getting shot?” Garcia continued, wanting Y/N to be absolutely sure of what she’s deciding.
Y/N pulled away from the embrace and stared at her friend, “M-maybe? I don’t know, I-I don’t know, Pen. Oh God, the wedding is tomorrow.” Y/N covered her face with her hands and tried to rub away all the stress and tears.
“Okay, okay, calm down. Here’s what we’ll do. We’ll go see Spencer and make sure he’s alright, then you can take all the time you need to decide whether you want to call the wedding off or not, alright? How does that sound?” Garcia reasoned with her, slowly trying to remove her hands from her face.
Y/N nodded and took a few deep breaths, wiping away the last of her tears, “Let’s go see Spencer.”
When they’d arrived at the hospital, Spencer wasn’t out of surgery yet. The team was waiting around in the hospital chairs. The hospital felt cold, so unbelievably cold. Maybe it was Y/N literally getting cold feet. The team decided not to ask about the unmistakable redness around her eyes and nose. They just chalked it up to being scared for Spencer, but it was so much more than that.
She hadn’t even looked at him before he left. She hadn’t seen his eyes or his face so full of its color in so long. When the Dr. announced he was out of surgery and that he should be waking up any minute, the team had decided to let Y/N in first. The sight of him sleeping in the hospital bed made her stomach lurch. She found it hard to contain her tears. It was almost as if her hand had a mind of its own as it reached out to smooth down his wild hair and caress his cheek. She pressed a soft kiss to the side of his head and watched as his eyelids fluttered slightly, but stayed closed. She swallowed heavily and wiped her eyes before walking back out to the team.
“He’s not awake yet, but I, uh...have to go. There’s something I need to take care of. Pen, update me when he wakes, please.” Y/N tried as hard as she could to even out her voice, but it trembled with every other word. Garcia nodded and before anyone could even say a word, she was out of the building. She checked the time and saw that Grant’s shift wasn’t over yet, and she had the house to herself for a bit.
As soon as she made it in, she picked the two biggest suitcases she owned and began to fill them with her things. She’d spent over 7 years in this apartment with Anderson, so many memories and so many laughs were spent here.
But she couldn’t do it anymore.
She didn’t want to have to go through a divorce, she couldn’t go through that. She’d rather not marry him at all. Within two hours, she had packed 7 years worth of her life into two huge suitcases. It was sad and she shed more than a few tears mulling over memories. But she saw her future and it wasn’t with Anderson. She placed the suitcases near the doorway and sat at the kitchen table, waiting for him to come home. Surely enough, Grant came through the door at exactly 5:53 pm, just like he did every day.
“Babe? You home? Hey, whose bags are these?” He said, slipping off his shoes and walking into the kitchen, “Is everything okay, Y/N?” He asked, spotting her in the kitchen with a glass of red wine and tears gathering in her eyes.
“What’s going on?” Anderson frowned.
“Um, so...I’ve been thinking. A lot, actually. And I kept asking myself why we waited so long to finally get married. We got engaged in college, Grant. That was ages ago. Most people get married like, right after graduation, but we didn’t do that. We moved here together, I shifted my entire life to fit with yours and yeah I have a great job, but I’m not happy.” She paused to sniffle, “And I think I’m not happy because this isn’t the life I want for me. I think we waited so long because we secretly didn’t really want it to happen, if I’m being honest. But now that it’s happening, I don’t think I can do it. I’m sorry. I just don’t see my future with you.” She frowned as tears clouded her vision. She temporarily let go of her wine glass to slip off her engagement ring and place it in front of him.
“I’m calling off the wedding.” She stated with finality. He looked devastated.
“Y/N, is this a joke?” He frowned, anger settling in.
“No, it’s not a joke, Grant. I’m so sorry. I’ll try to get back whatever I can from all the money we’ve spent on everything, but I’m leaving. Thank you for giving me so many irreplaceable memories. They mean more than you know.” She wiped her tears and got up from her seat.
“Wait, so does this mean you’re quitting the job?” He asked, still in awe of the situation.
“No, I’m staying at the BAU, I love it there, Hotch is a great boss.”
“So that’s it? You’re leaving me?” For the first time that night, his eyes welled up with tears.
“Yeah, I’m sorry. I’m staying with Penelope until I can find a place to rent.” They hugged one last time and she took her things and left.
Just like that.
And she’d never felt lighter. She’d never felt more free.
***
Anderson had requested a transfer to a different unit and so they barely saw each other at work. Everything was going really well actually. Over the past two weeks, she allowed herself only one day of wallowing but her priorities were finding a new apartment to live in. They’d already spent so much money on the wedding, so it was difficult to be spending at the moment, but thankfully Garcia’s freezer was full of individually packed meals from the catering company. She lived off those so far and it’d probably stay that way for the next few months or at least until she found her own freezer to fill with individually packed meals.
She hadn’t seen Spencer since that day in the hospital because apartment hunting in DC turned out to be a nightmare. But it’s fine, she’s been getting all her information from Garcia since she’d been performing daily checkups on him since he’d started his medical leave. Apparently, the ever-so-stubborn Spencer decided to continue giving his guest lectures even on his crutches. Ever since Rossi joined the team, he’d been taking Spencer to different universities and they’d often give lectures together. Y/N should’ve been glad that he’d been leaving the house, but it was so hard not to worry about him. He should be coming in today, his two weeks of medical leave are technically over, but he can’t go out into the field yet.
Also, the team was about to get a new member. Y/N was super excited, she was the one who got to show new members around the office and introduce them to everyone. She was also super excited to finally see Spencer. The ding of the elevator sounded and Y/N leapt from her seat upon seeing Spencer waddle in on his crutches through the glass doors, which were being opened for him by a young-looking blonde woman.
“Spencer!” Y/N exclaimed, bounding over to him and making sure to hug him gently as to not topple him over or hurt him.
“Hey!” He smiled, attempting to return the hug without his arms.
“Oh, thank goodness you’re finally back! The place was starting to get a little depressing!” She smiled, a new happiness filling her. She only noticed the woman standing so close to Spencer when she pulled away.
“Thanks, it’s great to be back.” He smiled at her fondly, resting on his crutches. “Oh, Y/N, this is Agent Ashley Seaver. She’s the newest member of the BAU and actually my girlfriend.”

Puzzles and Limes and Family Times
Fandom: 911 Lone Star
Characters: T.K. Strand, Carlos Reyes
Summary: Parenting kids is tough. Growing up and parenting your parents is even harder. Luckily T.K. and Carlos have each other to help figure things out. A post-ep for 2x11 "Slow Burn." Thanks to @bluenet13 for the help with the spicy food stuff and for inspiring what will likely be a prequel. And for just generally always being a supportive friend!
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“How about a book?” Carlos asked.
T.K. shook his head. “He has books. I want something different. Something that will really distract him.”
“I still think a couple DVD’s might do the trick,” Carlos told him.
“He has every streaming service known to man. If he can’t find it on one of those, it’s probably not worth watching.”
“T.K. as nice as it is that you want to get your dad a gift for his surgery, maybe we should think about it a little more since you don’t seem to know what you want.”
They’d circled the aisles of Target more than once, T.K. turning down every one of Carlos’ suggestions. “I just want something that’s going to keep him busy,” T.K. said. “He’s terrible at sitting still. I’m afraid if we don’t do something he’ll try and run a half marathon three days after surgery and kill himself.”
“Babe I don’t think there’s anything in the world that’s going to keep your dad recovering the way you want,” Carlos said. “He’s kind of a strong willed guy.”
T.K. sighed and turned the cart into the next aisle. “I know. I know, I just have to at least try.” He paused and grabbed a box off the nearest shelf. “What about this?”
Carlos raised his eyebrows. “A puzzle? Your dad doesn’t strike me as someone with the patience for puzzles.”
“Exactly. Maybe this will help him learn some. And,” T.K. tapped the box for emphasis, “this one has dogs playing poker on it. He loves dogs and poker.”
“That is true,” Carlos said, keeping his tone even and his expression neutral.
T.K. shot him a look of fond exasperation. “I know you’re humoring me but I’m going to pretend that was genuine.”
“And now you can humor me by picking out new towels,” Carlos said with a grin.
T.K. groaned. “I thought we already picked new towels.”
“We picked new master bath towels. We need some to match the guest bath.” Carlos grabbed his hand, towing him along toward the home goods aisles.
“I didn’t realize you were going to use my moving in as an excuse to redecorate the entire condo,” T.K. said.
“I want it to feel like our place.” Carlos stopped and picked up a washcloth. “How do we feel about cream?”
“I feel like towels are towels. Especially in the guest bath.”
Carlos rolled his eyes and moved further down the row. “We have guests coming next week. Everything needs to be perfect.”
“Speaking of which, are you sure you want to invite my dad to dinner with your parents?” T.K. asked as Carlos silently debated the merits of blue versus off-white towels.
Carlos looked at him in surprise. “He’s your dad. Of course I want him there.”
“It’s just…he can be…a lot sometimes,” T.K. said.
Carlos raised his eyebrows and T.K. held up a finger in warning. “If you say I’m also a lot sometimes I’m taking the keys and leaving you here to Uber home.”
His boyfriend smiled and turned back to the towels. “My parents want to meet him. And your dad is very charming.” He looked at T.K., eyes sparkling with mirth. “Just like you.”
Now it was T.K.’s turn to roll his eyes.
“Besides,” Carlos said, dropping the blue towels into the cart, “having your dad there will take some of the attention off of me so my mom doesn’t tell every, single embarrassing story about my childhood. Instead your dad and my dad can try to one-up each other talking about crazy calls they’ve been on.”
T.K. wasn’t convinced yet. “He’s just really not been himself lately. And I have no idea what his mood is going to be like post-surgery. I don’t want him to leave a bad impression with your parents.”
“I’m sure it will be fine. Besides, it would be good for your dad to get out of the house. Be around family.”
T.K. sighed. “I guess at least if he’s with us I’ll know he’s safe. And it will give him something to do to keep his mind off how bored he is.”
“I thought that was what the puzzle was for,” Carlos said with a teasing grin as they walked toward the checkout.
T.K. sent him a withering look. “Just let me pretend it’s going to work and not sit on a shelf in the closet until the next time he has a garage sale. It makes me feel better.”
Carlos nudged him good-naturedly. “I will let you keep your delusion.” He stopped pushing the cart and leaned against the handle. “But it’s going to cost you.”
T.K. took a step closer and bit his lip. “Oh is it?” he asked, wondering exactly how randy Carlos was going to get in the kitchen appliance aisle.
“Yep.” Carlos grinned. “We’re having camarones a la diabla for dinner tonight.”
T.K.’s face fell. “What? No! Come on I already looked at towels with you!”
Carlos just smiled and sauntered away with the cart, leaving T.K. alone in the middle of the aisle to hurry after him. “Okay but only a little spicy all right? Not ‘accidentally almost kill T.K. spicy’ like last time?”
“That was your own fault and you know it,” Carlos called back.
T.K. huffed. “That’s exactly why we don’t need a repeat!”
Carlos stopped and let him catch up. “If we’re going to live together we have to build up your tolerance to heat. Don’t worry,” he said, patting T.K.’s cheek, “I’ll be gentle.”
T.K. eyed him warily. “Nice try Reyes. I know behind that smile is a conniving, spice loving, diabolical monster.”
“What if I promise you homemade ice cream for dessert?”
“What because I’m a five-year-old and can be bribed to eat my dinner?” T.K. asked.
Carlos cocked his head and raised his eyebrows.
“Fine,” T.K. said grudgingly. “But I want chocolate.”
“Then chocolate it is.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
T.K. had never seen his boyfriend panicked before. Upset yes, excited for sure, but the most emotionally intense his mild mannered boyfriend typically got was moderately annoyed. Tonight however, he seemed like he might actually be about to lose his shit. And as intrigued as T.K. was to see where that might lead, a little voice in his head reminded him that Carlos losing his shit five minutes before his parents were due to arrive was probably not going to leave a favorable impression.
“Where are the tortilla chips?” Carlos asked, his voice sharp and pitched a note or two higher than usual. “I thought you picked them up on your way home today.”
“Right here,” T.K. said smoothly, opening the cupboard and pulling out the bag of homemade chips he’d purchased from a favorite restaurant down the street.
“And you told them to make the guacamole fresh right?”
“Yes, I stood there for fifteen minutes while the guy went out and hand picked the avocados,” T.K. said, trying not to let too much amusement color his tone.
Over the last few days the tension in their home seemed to have changed direction. As T.K. had grown more comfortable with the idea of his dad coming for dinner, (despite the one minor, running into a burning building incident that T.K. was trying not to think about) Carlos had gotten increasingly tense.
The condo, always in a state of near perfect cleanliness now sparkled like something out of a magazine. And the list of instructions Carlos had left for T.K. to complete after his shift had been so detailed and exact that T.K. wondered if he’d stayed up all night writing it. Personally he thought that doing a deep clean of the refrigerator and painting over scuffs on the baseboards was a little bit of overkill, but he’d done as asked. Now, as he watched his boyfriend dart from one side of the kitchen to the other in a slightly manic state, he was wondering if he might need to intervene.
Carlos pushed past him to take the perfectly made guacamole out and put it in a bowl. “Did you put a clean hand towel in the bathroom? The blue one?”
“Blue? I thought you said black.”
Carlos froze and glowered at him. “I’m kidding,” T.K. said, holding up his hands in a pacifying gesture. “Blue towel is freshly laundered and in the bathroom. I’m not sure exactly how the color of a hand towel could ruin the evening but I certainly didn’t want to risk finding out.”
Carlos’ face dropped a bit, emotional exhaustion pulling at him. “I know I’m being crazy.”
“Oh I think we surpassed crazy about two hours ago when you were picking individual pieces of lint off the throw pillows,” T.K. said with an amused smile. “Relax. Tonight is going to be great. You’re making a damn soufflé. How could anyone not be impressed by that?”
“Maybe I should have gone with something more traditional,” Carlos said, running an agitated hand through his curls for the hundredth time that evening. “My parents are traditional people. But your dad is coming so I wanted to pull out all the stops.” He peered through the oven door at the soufflé. “Maybe I should have done the beef. I’m going to take it out just in case.”
“Carlos, Carlos whoa, hey,” T.K. stopped him by putting his hands on his shoulders. “The soufflé is going to be great. Everyone is going to love it. Do not take that beef out of the refrigerator.”
Carlos’ eyes widened. “Oh my god I forgot to put the ice trays in the freezer!”
“Whoa, hey, nope,” T.K. held on a little tighter and didn’t let him go. “You asked me to do that this morning. Let’s just go sit for a minute—“
“I need to—“
“What you need to do is take a few deep breaths and get yourself together,” T.K. told him, pushing him gently onto a bar stool.
“I just want it to be perfect.”
“Babe I know. But it’s not going to be. Nothing ever is, so you need to let got of that expectation. It will be a great dinner because everyone who’s coming loves you and wants you to be happy.”
Carlos slumped a bit, mussing his curls a little more with his hands. “I’m nervous.”
“I know. But I’m going to be right beside you the whole night. And nothing your parents say is going to make me upset. Or want to leave.” T.K. leaned a little closer as Carlos deliberately avoided making eye contact. “That’s what you’re really worried about right? Not that they’ll say something to make you upset, but that they might hurt me?”
Carlos chewed at the inside of his lip and covered T.K.’s hands with his own, twining their fingers together nervously. “They just might not be as careful with their words as I want them to be. Sometimes they speak without thinking. They have old biases, things from church and the family…”
T.K. brought one of Carlos’ hands up to his mouth and kissed his knuckles. “I know the difference between willful hate and accidental ignorance. I’m not worried.” He ran a hand through Carlos’ hair, fixing some of the damage he’d done to himself. “And nothing, not even rude parents or a fallen soufflé, would ever make me want to leave you.”
T.K. watched as some of the tension eased out of his shoulders. “I love you,” Carlos said quietly.
“I love you too,” T.K. said, squeezing his hand.
There was a knock on the door and Carlos sucked in a deep breath. “Are you sure you’re ready?”
T.K. leaned forward so their lips met in a sweet kiss. “Absolutely.”

"Caught In The Storm" *Part 9*
So....did y'all like that cliffhanger?
Because...HAHAHA JK THAT'S NOT THE ENDING.
No, but actually...it was the original ending, but the original ending ended up being REALLY short. So, I wrote an ALTERNATE ending, that actually I really would prefer being the ACTUAL ending, but it had to go a different direction BEFORE the cliffhanger, so....you see my dilemma.
SO---
Here's what we're gonna do:
I'm going to put the ORIGINAL ending first, and then space it out, and put the ALTERNATE [better tbh] ending.
That way, you can have both. And I don't have to backtrack to undo my mistake due to my ADHD brain changing things 24/7.
Kay? Cool.
Also no neither of these are the ACTUAL ending, I refuse to have an odd number of chapters. REFUSE. So chapter 10 will be like an epilogue. Don't look at me like that.

Part 10 (Epilogue is here!)
(This Gif is For the FIRST ending, there's a 2nd GIF that would be SPOILERS.)
Short Simple Ending #1
Raphael sat in his loft drinking scotch, for which he had done most of the day. He wasn't dressed, he hadn’t showered, he was a mess. He didn't know if he could ever come out of this. He sat there wallowing in his regret and sorrow, going over every interaction you two had ever had in your entire lives of knowing each other pinpointing everything he could have done differently. What he should have done differently, and the fact that if he had, you'd be there with him right now instead of getting married to someone you didn't love. He's just in the middle of chastising himself again when he heard a knock at the door.
“Liv, I told you I don't need your help; You can't help me right now!” he yelled to the door
“It's not Liv…”your voice came softly through the door.
His eyes lit up, he raced to the door and threw it open. Revealing you and your wedding dress, sopping wet.
“Well I hope you're happy!” you stomped into his apartment angrily.
“...What would I be happy about? Where is your husband? He asked half jokingly.
“I Don't HAVE a husband,” you spat.
“Really now?” He was enjoying this too much.
“No, I don't. And you just made me humiliate a poor, generous, loving, caring, amazing man. And I just dumped him in front of all of his friends and family, and in front of a million fans on a live stream and now everyone knows and I'm probably laughing stock right now!!!” you screamed angrily, pacing the apartment.
“I did all that?” He smirked.
“Yes, you did!” you crossed your arms as you walked back to him.
“And how did I do that?” He took both of your hands and pulled you closer, still smiling like a Cheshire cat.
“By telling me you love me!!!” you kept your angry face stoic. “How could I marry Nathan when I knew that I was supposed to be with someone else?”
“You couldn't,” He smiled.
“I couldn't…” You whispered as he pulled you even closer and took you in his arms.
“I love you Rafael,” you looked right into his big green eyes. It was the first time you had actually said it to him in those exact words, with all the love and emotion you had always meant it to be.
He stared at you for a moment, running through the words in his mind. He had yelled them so angrily and upset at you last night, not the way you needed. Not the way you deserved.
“I love you too, Y/N,” He smiled, cradling your face before pulling you into another mind blowing kiss; it had only been the second time you had ever kissed in your lives but it felt like you had done it a million times, like it was supposed to be this way. Like it was always supposed to be this way.
You were so glad you stayed through the storm.

Actual" Really Long, Detailed, Funny Ending #2
-----
"But you don't love him,'' Rafael pointed out.
"You don't know that!" You snapped.
"Yes I do!" He shot back.
“How could you possibly know that?”
"Because you have never looked at him the way you look at me!" He exclaimed.
Your face went from upset and sad, to absolute rage after hearing him say that.
"You arrogant, selfish, son of a bitch…" you growled.
"How DARE you say that to me?! How DARE you use my own feelings and how much I loved you against me? Get out," You grabbed his arm and dragged him to the door.
"No look I'm sorry Y/N, but it's true. You don't love him and you're only marrying him to spite me!" He continued to dig himself a hole.
"So what?!” You said without thinking, making you both go wide eyed and silent.
“Are-- Are you serious?” He stammered.
“What if I was?” You now had an idea reeling.
“Wha...why would you…?” His eyes narrowed.
“Let’s say that I don’t believe you right now, which I don’t. And I kick you out of here, and I go through with my wedding in the morning? After ALL of this?” You gestured between the two of you.
"You're drunk, aren't you?" Rafael asked as he eyed the two empty bottles of champagne.
"Don't even-- Maybe," You stood in front of the view of the bottles. You waved it off, trying to focus.
“What if I told you that the ONLY way that I will believe that you are completely serious and NOT just drunk, is if you try and stop my wedding?” You smirked.
“You’re not--” Rafael started to laugh, but you kept a serious face on. “Seriously?”
“I don’t know Rafael, I guess we’ll see tomorrow who’s ‘serious’ and who’s not!” You slammed the door in his face, leaving him dumbfounded.
-------------
The next day you were in the bridal room getting ready; It was pouring rain outside, it seemed appropriate.
Amanda, Kelsey and Olivia were helping you polish your tiara, ironing your dress, fixing your makeup and all that jazz. Hundreds of fans lined outside the church since someone had leaked where you were getting married. Everything came down to this moment. It was supposed to be the biggest day of your life, and you were terrified. But not for the reasons normal brides would be worried about. For one you were hungover, and for two you had made the most idiotic ultimatum to Rafael last night. Why would you DO that?! Why did he bring out the absolute snarkiest, competitive side of you?
“You're shaking,” Amanda noticed.
“It's just nerves, you need some champagne'' Kelsey grabbed a champagne flute and shoved it in your hand; you downed it.
“You're doing the right thing,” Kelsey assured you, as if she knew what you were thinking. You looked at Olivia and Amanda.
“And what do you say?” You genuinely asked them both.
“I think that whatever you want to do is the right thing,'' Olivia replied, squeezing her hand. You smiled thankfully, glancing at the door.
He hadn’t come yet, maybe he was just drunk. Maybe he was lying in his bed hungover, wondering why he went and made an ass out of himself for no reason. Then again, maybe he was waiting for a big crowd for a huge display of affection, God WHY did you do this...
------
When it was time, you walked up to Finn who was waiting at the doors of the chapel. He was dressed in a tuxedo with a baby blue tie.
“You look beautiful, baby girl,” he smiled. “Are you ready to do this?”
“Now or never,” You smiled, still glancing at the exits. You noted the cameras that were set up to livestream this to millions of people; you had totally forgotten about that. Oh god, now if there was a “public display” it wouldn’t just go to the guests, it would be broadcast around the world!
The Wedding March began to play as the chapel doors opened. You proceeded to walk down the aisle and looked at everyone watching you. All of your past and present family from the SVU squad was there. Grandpa Kragen and Grandpa Munch, Uncle Brian, Uncle Tucker, etc.
Then you looked at Nathan's family, a bunch of white rich stuffy but welcoming people. You noticed all of the crowds lining outside the windows of the church cheering you on, some crying, some holding signs. Then you looked at Nathan waiting for you at the end of the aisle smiling proudly. He really did love you.
You reached the end of the aisle and took Nathan's hands.
“Dearly beloved, we're gathered here today…”
The Preacher went on through the normal wedding exchanges until he got to “the” line..
“If anyone here has any reason that these two should not be wed, please speak now or forever hold your peace,” The preacher announced as you held your breath.
You anxiously looked around the chapel, looking for any sign of Rafael. Maybe he had snuck in the back, or was hiding behind a lady with a hat. He was going to come, wasn’t he? Maybe you were right, maybe you were right along.
….Nothing. He wasn’t there. He didn’t come…
You felt your heart shatter, you were officially dead inside. And now the husk of you was being married off to this poor man.
“Do you Nathan Lee Price, take YN to be your lovely wedded wife, now and forever, through richer and poorer, sickness and health, before and after you both shall live?
“I do,”
“Y/N, do you take Nathan Lee Price to be your lovely wedded husband, now and forever, through richer and poorer, sickness and health, before and after you both shall live?”
You looked to Nathan, then you looked to your side of the wedding, then you looked to his side, you looked to the fans outside again, you looked to the sky, looked to the ground and then you looked back at Nathan.
"I…"
“NO SHE DOES NOT!!!!”
The chapel doors swung open revealing Rafael dressed in a tuxedo. The entire room gasped in horror, and you tried your best not to run to him right then and there. He ran down the aisle until he reached the altar.
“I’m sorry sir, we’ve already past the--” The preacher started to talk but Rafael put a hand in front of his face.
“I don’t care, padre,” He chortled.
"Cutting it a little close there, counselor," You muttered.
"You're the one who chose to get married during rush hour in New York City, carino," He winked.
“Man, are you serious? Really? You’ve had all this time, and you decide NOW that you want my fiancé?” Nathan asked him in a hushed voice, trying to be discreet.
Rafael however, was NOT trying to be discreet.
“This woman told me last night, if I really loved her, that I would come and stop this wedding,” He was addressing the crowd. “That I would stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life,” He turned to you and Nathan. “Marrying someone she does not love,”
The room gasped again, Nathan’s family looked horrified. Camera phones began filming, fans outside were going NUTS.
“...Is that true, Y/N?” Nathan asked you with the most pitiful look.
“I mean I--” You looked from him to Rafael, who had a huge grin on his face. Well, you DID ask for this.
“I didn’t use those exact words,” You shrugged apologetically. The pastor closed the Bible, the guests were chattering like mad, cameras flashed, the mob outside began to force themselves inside to see the drama.
“I..I can’t believe this, I can’t believe you…” Nathan shook his head in disbelief.
“Nathan I’m really sorry, I just--” You looked at Rafael again; his grin wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. “I had to be sure that he really loved me,”
“So he had to PROVE his love to you, when I have shown it to you EVERY SINGLE DAY?” Nathan started to yell, forgetting about appearances.
“I mean, no-- it’s a whole thing, you wouldn’t understand--” You started to laugh unintentionally, thinking of how you and Rafael had your own twisted sick sense of humor.
“You’re goddamn right I don’t understand!” He continued to yell.
“...She’s a flair for the dramatic Nate, what can I say?” Rafael smirked as he stepped up on the stair you were standing on and wrapped an arm around you. You really hated that you were enjoying this at Nate’s expense but-- Rafael was right. You wanted him to publicly admit it, and he delivered. And you were ecstatic.
“Yeah well, I hope you’re both happy in dramatic HELL,” Nathan spewed before stomping off out of the chapel with his groomsmen quickly tailing him. His side of the wedding began exiting the chapel furiously grumbling and yelling profanities at you.
You glanced at your side of the room, the entire NYPD. They all surprisingly looked very pleased, although some people like Kragen were skeptical about this suave ADA coming in here and sweeping you off your feet. They shook their heads and a few applauded, especially your current family.
“Oh we’re not done folks,” Rafael announced as he grabbed the preacher before he could leave.
“Wha...what now?” You were confused but growing more excited by the second.
“You wanted me to be sure that this is what I wanted,” Rafael took both of your hands. “And I want you to KNOW that this,” He gestured between the two of you. “This is all I will ever want, for the rest of my life. And I want to prove it to you,” He smiled at you and pulled something from his jacket pocket.
“Oh, Rafa you really don’t--” You started to say that stopping this wedding was proof enough for you, but he was already down on his knees.
“Y/N….Will you marry me?” He asked. “....Right now?” He added, gesturing to the preacher. Now it was your side’s turn to gasp loudly again, as you stared at the huge diamond ring Rafael was holding out to you.
Where did he get that? WHEN did he get that? Had he been planning on proposing to you before? A zillion questions ran through your brain but you did your best to quiet them all so you could focus on the ONE question that mattered right now.
“....DUH!” You finally slapped him over the head playfully and grabbed the ring from him. He laughed and slipped it on your finger before pulling you into a beautiful, perfect kiss. Everyone on your side laughed and cheered, happy their baby girl was getting her happy ending.
“Well alright then, I guess let’s start this thing over!” The preacher laughed, opening his Bible once again.
“Rafael Barba, do you take Y/N to be your lovely wedded wife, now and forever, through richer and poorer, sickness and health, before and after you both shall live?” He asked Rafael.
“I do,” Rafael beamed at you.
“Do you--” .
“WAIT,” You put up a hand to stop him, making everyone start to mumble curiously again. Rafael’s face fell.
“...Are you serious? You’re changing your mind?” He muttered anxiously.
“No!” You shook your head. “No I…” You looked at the floor. “God this is so stupid…” You laughed to yourself nervously, not really believing you were actually going to admit this.
“....What?” Rafael raised an eyebrow.
“I um…” You bit your lip. “Oh God…” You turned to the preacher. “Sorry!” He brushed it off.
“Baby what are you--” Rafael was seriously starting to worry.
“Please, please don’t freak out,” You begged him. His eyes remained confused, but soft and understanding.
“Okay…” He gave you a look.
“I um,” You took a deep breath. “I may or may not have learned this...just in case,”
You took another deep breath, and recited the words you had practiced in front of your mirror for MONTHS after you had first met Rafael.
“Yo, Y/N, te tomo a ti, Rafael Barba, como mi esposo,”
Rafael immediately broke into the biggest smile you may have ever seen on him, tears instantly wet his eyes as you spoke.
“Prometo serte fiel en lo próspero y en lo adverso,” You continued, vowing you were NOT going to break down crying.
“en la salud y en la enfermedad, Amarte y respetarte todos los días de mi vida.,” You finished successfully without shedding a tear, unlike Rafael who was a full on hot mess of tears in front of you.
“Baby I…” He shook his head in disbelief. “I can’t believe you did that,” He whispered, tears still catching in his throat.
“I told you,” You bit your lip. “I have always been in love with you,”
“And I am so in love with you,” He grinned, pulling your face into his for “the” kiss.
“Well I guess you can kiss the bride!” The preacher laughed sarcastically as everyone broke into cheers.
You glanced up at the cameras as you walked down the aisle with your new husband. God you hoped that hadn’t blown up in your face, but if it did-- you had your Rafa to hold you through the storm.

Lucky - Jisoo
request: Please can you write some fluff/angst where Jisoo finds out her girlfriend used to have a bp stan account and had Chaeyoung as her bias so Jisoo gets jealous/insecure and starts acting differently? Thank you!!!
i kinda went another way but it still has the same gist, really ! only that the reader didn’t have a stan account hehe
p.s. i have received the requests for rosé and jennie but i will be doing a lisa request first since i haven’t put one out for her yet but i am still accepting requests atm
You would like to consider yourself lucky. You were currently in a very happy and healthy relationship with someone who you share an effortlessly rock-solid bond with. Someone who appreciated you for you and prioritized you over everything else. Your friends would always point out how smitten you both were but you never did pay it no mind – they could only wish to have a love as resilient and fun.
Oh yeah, and the person in question? Kim Jisoo. One of Korea’s most sought-after idols.
No big deal. Adding the fact that you were a fan before getting into a relationship with her, you would say lucky is an understatement.
If it wasn’t for your close friendship with Soojoo (who is one of Jisoo’s best friends in the industry) and your persistence to be introduced to the girls of Blackpink, you wouldn’t be where you are today. It took the right timing and the decision to come over at Soojoo’s apartment, only to find out she already had a certain guest over, for fate to lay a hand. Though your constant flirting also definitely helped create a permanent spot for you on Jisoo’s mind.
It wasn’t everyday someone had the guts to flirt with her and usually when someone did, she never had any trouble turning them down. She had bigger and better things to focus on: her career and her Blinks. She had no time for silly relationships at her young age, especially since they were at their peak, but there was something about you that kept her coming back.
That was over a year ago and the relationship that you both have built still leaves everybody in awe. You give majority of the credit to Jisoo who knew exactly how to handle you. She dealt with everything with a maturity you could only wish to have. Although you’d like to think it was already rubbing off on you. Something that your parents will forever be grateful to Jisoo for.
Your girlfriend carried with her a very laid back and goofy disposition. You’ve always admired how calm she was during times when you’d expect the exact opposite and loved her ability to bring comfort to those who weren’t, especially to her own members. Even her fans noticed how caring and protective she became when needed. You always chalked it up to her being the eldest in the group and feeling the need to be the one stable thread that kept everyone together. She was always the strong one when everything seemed to be falling apart.
But this also meant not a lot of people get to see Jisoo the way you do. Because with you, she allows herself to completely break down the walls she surrounds herself with when she’s at work. Gone is the Kim Jisoo of the biggest girl group in the world. All you were left with was Jisoo – your girlfriend.
The first time you saw Jisoo cry was a turning point in your relationship.
You and Jisoo were lounging on your couch on one of her few days off. Both of you were directing your attention to the documentary playing on the TV when you all of a sudden hear sniffles coming from your right. You immediately face the girl you have been seeing for a few months and see her fixing her gaze on her lap whilst she played with her fingers. Her eyes glazed with a glassy layer of tears. As she blinked, they dripped from her eyelids and slid down her cheeks. She bit her lip tightly in attempt to hide any sound that wanted to escape from her mouth
“Jisoo?” you hesitated. At this point, your mind was going wild with the probable reasons why she was suddenly upset. Your brain cogs turning trying to remember if you did anything wrong or maybe she was going to break things off. Of course, she was too busy and didn’t have time for a relationship. Why did you even think this would work out?
“Y/N…” Jisoo’s eyes moved slower and always more down-cast, skimming the floor, rarely raising to eye level as more tears started to fall. It was in her voice too, quieter, with a meekness that wasn't usually part of her speech patter. This was very unlike the Jisoo you were used to. She was sad in a way you hadn't seen before. She brought her hand to intertwine yours together, taking a deep breathe to calm herself.
“Talk to me,” you whispered. “You never have to be afraid to open up to me.”
It was this that made Jisoo’s tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down her face. The muscles of her chin trembled like a small child and it took everything in you not to start crying too. It was not the time.
“I’m just tired,” she mumbled. “There’s been a lot of stress about the album process being delayed again and everyone is just so drained.” she leaned backwards, letting her head fall on the back of the couch and closing her eyes. “I’m so tired.” she emphasized, wiping her tears. You let her cry for a few more minutes waiting until she calms down as you put your arms around her shoulder.
“I will never understand firsthand what that feels like as an artist to go through that but I want you and the girls to know that so many people believe in you,” you consoled. “This is what you guys have been waiting for and you deserve it and more. The process was never gonna be easy but I know that you all love what you do and it will all be worth it because of that and your fans.”
She let out a shaky sigh before turning to face you. She studied your face silently for a second before giving you a small smile. “Thank you. I honestly went to see you tonight because I didn’t wanna be upset in front of the girls. Not right now when they’re all feeling really down too.”
She leaned forward to wrap her arms around you in a hug. “You’re my safe place.”
Before you, Jisoo didn’t think she could ever find a soul, aside from her members, that would ever understand the things that brought her pain.
To be the one Jisoo was able to turn to during her toughest moments was a badge of honor you would gladly wear everyday for the rest of your life.
Right now, you joined the Blackpink girls in their dorm chatting over some chicken and soju. You were all on your fourth bottle and you could sense how tipsy Rosé was becoming, but you knew Jennie and Lisa weren’t too far off either.
“I think its so funny how Y/N was annoying Soojoo to introduce her to us and now she’s practically married to Jisoo unnie,” Jennie giggled, raising the shot glass to her mouth.
Both Rosé and Lisa apparently thought this was the funniest thing ever because they laughed their little hearts silly.
“Oh my god!” Rosé squealed. “I was your bias remember?”
You hid your face on your hands as you shook your head, “Jesus, you’re super drunk.”
“Still doesn’t change the fact I was your bias!” Rosé laughed, putting her head on your shoulder.
“Yah, unnie, look!” Lisa slapped Jisoo’s shoulders, staring at her wildly. “Rosé is trying to steal your girl.” she pointed towards the both of you.
Jisoo only raised an eyebrow towards you before giving Lisa a smile but you knew Jisoo well enough now to differentiate a real smile from a fake one and that did not look genuine at all. Before you could scoot over to your girlfriend, Jennie decided to dig your hole a little deeper.
“I never knew that before Y/N. Why Rosie?” Jennie glared. “Why not me?”
“Yeah! Tell us!” Rosé exclaimed clapping her hands.
And that started a round of chants asking you to tell them the reason.
“Just tell them, babe.” you hear your girlfriend say. You look at her searching for signs not to but she only nodded in encouragement. You knew she was only doing so to appease her wasted members.
“I…I don’t know,” you stammered, looking at everyone. “She just caught my attention, I guess. That was way before I knew you guys though and what you were like. Everything is different now.”
“Well duh, you’re like in love with Jisoo unnie now,” Rosé drunkenly whispered.
You smiled at her words pulling Jisoo closer to you, “That I am.”
•
It was around 3AM when you and Jisoo arrived at your apartment after putting the drunk girls to bed. You and Jisoo decided to spend the night together since it had been weeks since you saw each other. You’ve noticed how quiet Jisoo had been after the whole Rosé being your bias thing and you couldn’t help but worry and wonder why. You’ve caught her in moments of reflection for the rest of the night before remembering where she was and trying to act normal.
You were in bed when you find her uncharacteristically quiet and staring up at the ceiling.
“I know you’re not okay,” you deadpanned, laying on your side to face her. “What’s on your mind?”
“It’s stupid,” she sighed as the words slowly made its way out of her mouth.
“You know I would never invalidate your feelings, right?” you questioned, reaching up to caress her cheek.
“Why me?” she said quietly. “I always asked myself that when we first started dating. Whenever Soojoo mentioned you, she would always talk about your obsession with Chaeyoung and we’d both laugh about it. When I first met you and you started showing interest, I thought you were only using me to get closer to Chaeyoung.” she laughed but you could sense no humor behind it.
You wanted to interject and tell her how wrong she was but you sensed she had more to say.
“So, I put you in arm’s length because of that. I didn’t think you had the best intentions towards me. It was okay at first until I really started to get attached to you too and I thought ‘great, I like someone who is probably into Chaeyoung’. Chaeyoung was your type and I couldn’t be more different from her. I was so confused and didn’t know what your deal was. I started to get really scared when I realized you had to meet the girls.” she recounted. “I was scared that you’d start to like her for real and that she was what you were after all along. I felt lost and confused, but at the same time happy and certain that I really wanted things with you to work out.”
She turned to face you for the first time since she started talking, “I was wrong. You had the most genuine intentions towards me and you proved that time and time again. I guess that tonight, that irrational fear just crawled back to me like a shadow of what I used to feel and that freaked me out.”
After that, you slipped off the blankets and got on top of her, grabbing her face and bringing it closer to yours. “You are the best thing to ever happen to me, Kim Jisoo. I fucking mean that, you know that, right? The moment we met, we clicked, you know that. You were all I could think about the moment I step foot out of Soojoo’s apartment. The only reason Rosie was my bias was because I didn’t know any better. I literally knew jack shit about you guys but the more I got to know you, the more I knew I wanted to be with you. It was never about Blackpink, it was about me getting to know another human being that I adored and respected.”
You were looking down at her probably looking at her like the sun came out of her ass but Jisoo wasn’t complaining. “You curse a lot, you know?” she giggled.
You rolled your eyes, “I come up with that great speech and you choose to talk about a couple curses.”
She leaned up and pressed your lips together.
“You’ve never failed to make me feel that, Y/N. Thank you for putting up with me when I get bouts of insecurity and doubt.” she smiled. “You know I’ll do the same for you too.”
“Yeah, you’re gonna be doing that a lot more for me because you guys are only going up from here,” you pouted. “I’ll have more people to compete with especially with your new drama coming. Your male lead better watch out, whoever he is.” you scoffed.
“There’s no competition in the first place,” she flicked your forehead. “And if there was, it would be a no brainer to know who would win.”
You smirked from above her, “Sure win?”
She crinkled her nose at how corny you were but gave you the biggest smile nonetheless, “You know it, babe.”

Old feelings
Based on this tik tok I saw, actually I changed it a little bit. Also inspired by Sleep on the Floor from the Lumineers.

Inner me is cringing at a Harry Styles fanfic lol but it was a cute idea. So whatever.
Female reader x Harry Styles
You were standing in the hall of the venue. The parents had rented the entire building not just for today but for tonight, and tomorrow. The guests, all 220 of them were accommodated with sleeping arrangements either here at the venue or in a hotel. Harry and you were talking to the building manager about the arrangements that would be taken for the guests that would be staying here. You turn around, and see him holding his bags. Timothee Chalamet, the love of your past life. You were glad he hadn’t noticed you yet, you weren’t sure what to do if he looked. You excuse yourself, and race to the bathroom quickly. You wash your face with cold water, this weekend already wasn’t exactly what you wanted, and now he had to show up. You take a deep breath, and think about a great escape plan when you heard a man singing to himself, and you recognized that voice out of thousands. You open the door to the hallway. “Niall!” You said, you saw him walking down the hallway. He turned around, he looked a little concerned, perhaps it was the tone of your voice or the look on your own face. He walked towards you, and once within your reach you pulled him inside the women’s bathroom. “Why is Timothee here?” you ask. Niall shrugs, it was a busy week, and loads of people were at this location, and yet. Yet, Timothee was here. Your heart sped up when you saw him, and you refused to believe it was leftover feelings you had for him. “I’m not sure, nice chap though.” Niall said, you look into his eyes, and wonder if he even knew. “I want him gone.” you said, bitter. Niall nods. “Whatever you want.” He said, though he looked like he was going to do jackshit about it.
Rehearsal Dinner, was extravagant. From the moment you stepped into the dinning hall you felt underdressed even though you were in the nicest dress you owned. Your stepmother and father were standing there tall, Harry’s parents were talking with some family friends, Gemma was laughing at the bar with Harry and another woman. You didn’t recognize her. You weren’t sure where to look. There were so many people, you didn’t recognize half of them. That’s when you spotted him, those black curls, and that face. What. The. Hell was he still doing here. Luckily Zendaya came up towards you holding up a drink for you. “Did you know Tim is here?” You ask your best friend. She nods, taking a sip from her champagne. “Yeah, I invited him.” Z said, you stare at her. “What??” you ask her. She put her arm around your shoulder. “I think you should hear him out.” you shake your head, profusely. “Why?” you ask her. She takes another drink from her glass. “I am getting married tomorrow afternoon. What the hell is wrong with you?” You said, pulling her by her arm to the hallway. “Y/n, are you really marrying Harry. I mean have you seen this whole wedding seems like you are overcompensating for the lack of love.” She snapped. You were taken back by her comment. “I didn’t plan this stupid thing, okay. Our parents did.” you said, Zendaya pulled you by your arm into a random room, which turned out to be a closet because your father was coming towards the two of you. “I thought you liked Harry, what the hell is going on?” you ask her. You lean with your back against a rack of cleaning supplies. “I do. It is just that the two of you met less than four months ago, when both of you got out of serious relationships.” Z said, you shake your head in disgust. “Timothee really broke your heart, and Harry published an album about Camille when he was with you.” Z said, concerned. You lean your head back, as you look at the lamp post. Z placed a hand on your arm that you had crossed over your chest. “I did it because I love you, remember that.” She said, placing a kiss on your cheek, and you knew she meant well. But, this was the worst plan she ever had. Worse than the time the two of you went to an irish bar and met Lewis Capaldi, and then she rudely mistook him for an Irish man. Which after three shots he could laugh about, and three of you ended up in Edinburgh. You had picked yourself up again, and went to find Harry. You were furious with Zendaya, and you had no interest in being nice to your step sister at the moment. He was still at the bar with the mystery. “Hey honey” you said, Harry put his arm around your shoulder. “Y/n, this is Camille.” he said, he looked anxious. You hold out your hand to shake hers. “Hi Camille.” you said: “I hope everything is going well for you.” she had the most beautiful smile you had ever seen, and you wondered how Harry ended up with you. “It is a lovely venue, Y/n” She said: “I think it is wonderful of you to invite me here, giving our history.” She gestured at Harry. You didn’t, Z did. Harry’s anxious look changed into an uncomfortable smile. “We are glad you could make it.” you said,
You shouldn’t have downed so many glasses of champagne. It made you fuzzy, to be honest the last thing that you truly felt was when Harry stepped into some room with Camille, and you had to be nice to your parent’s friends, and you were thankful that the evening didn’t last till two in the morning. You were sitting in your bedroom waiting for Harry to return. The dinner had ended around eleven thirty, and it was now past twelve, and he still wasn’t back from when he left with Camille. You had however found a whiskey bottle on the dresser, and even though they were going to overprice you for that. You didn’t care anymore, when he finally stumbled into the bedroom. “Where have you been?” you ask, you weren’t even sure if that sentence turned out like you thought it did. “I’m so sorry.” he said, you noticed he looked genuinely scared. “What?” you ask. You get up from the bed. “I uh- I had a long talk with Camille. About us, and-about you.” he said, his hair looked disheveled, and the suit he had been wearing so neatly, his buttons were unbuttoned and his tie loosened. “God, I am so sorry Y/n.” he cried out. You glare at him, and he steps closer to you. “We kissed.” he said, and anger rose up in you. You couldn’t believe he’d betray you like that. “Fuck you Styles. Fuck you.” you said, shoving him backwards so you could run out of the bedroom. “Y/n!” he called after you. He followed you, because he wanted redemption and in this drunken state of yours you couldn’t.
You run up the stairs, in the hope that there’d be some place where Harry couldn’t find you. You come across the attic window, you enter to find Niall with a girl. “Oh I’m sorry” you said, about to turn around. “No, Y/n stay here.” Niall said, when he saw the tears. He whispered something to the girl, and she got up making room for you. You sit down, handing your whiskey bottle to him. “What happened?” Niall asked. You lean your head against his shoulder. He takes a sip of the bottle. “The short version. Camille and Timothee are here, and Harry kissed Camille.” You cried, you wiped away the tears from your eyes. You tried to restrain yourself from crying. “And I missed all that?” he chuckled. You glare at him for laughing. “God, I hate this place.” You said, taking the whiskey bottle from Niall’s hands. He nods, he shifts his weight to lean his arms on his knees. “Is the wedding off?” He asked. You looked at the blond haired boy, and you chuckled. “I don’t know.” You said, taking a gulp from the bottle. You stare at the stars that were placed in beautiful constellations, you knew only one person that could identify more than one. “I loved Tim. I did. It was this Paris romance and at the same time-and I didn’t realise this at the time was the amount of pretend that went on. The perfect couple.” You said: “But with Harry it is all the ugly parts. The fighting and now he kissed her! the day before our wedding!” You sounded so angry, Niall just let you talk, not interrupting you talking negative about Harry. He took the bottle back again, wiping off your lipstick stains from the tip with the back of his hand. “What if Z is right, and Harry and I are making the biggest mistake ever” You whispered to Niall like it was the dirtiest secret you had. He simply shrugged before taking off his blazer handing it to you. You hadn’t even realised you were cold, you were too upset. Only when the leftover warmth from the balzer touched your skin you noticed. “I think you are seeing it all wrong.” He said taking a gulp from the bottle. You turn your head towards him to see him scrunch his nose from the whiskey flavor. “Who wants to be the perfect couple? Yes, what Harry did was wrong. But, maybe this was some form of closure he needed to have from her. Now, he has it. Maybe he now realised that not even a small part of him loves her anymore. It is a closed chapter.” he said: “Clearly you have some unresolved feelings still for Timothee. Harry has those too. The two of you rushed into things so fast, the two of you were bound to run into some wall at some point.” he said: “but now you have to decide whether you can climb that mountain or if it isn’t worth it.” You had never heard anything this real come from his mouth. He wrote stupid songs about these types of situations, and you had to laugh because he was the one with a song called no judgement. You just didn’t think that applied to everything.
It took you a long time sitting up there with Niall to be okay enough to come back down. Tonight your fiance and best friend hurt you, and Niall was there for you, like a real friend. You get to the bathroom, to brush your teeth, you take your make- up remover and some cotton pads to remove your make- up, you cleaned off one eye. “hey” you heard Harry say. You turned around and he was in the tub . You hold your hand to your heart, as you hold back a scream. You should’ve known he was in here because the bathroom smelled like the soap you brought. “Hi” you said, walking over to the bath sitting down on the floor beside the tub. You lean your arm on the edge of the tub placing your head on it, looking at him. You weren’t going to say anything, you wanted him to explain. “We went somewhere quiet to talk, and we talked about all the things that were wrong between me and her, and we had champagne, and we reminisced about good days, and one thing led to another, and we kissed once.” he said, you glare. “At our rehearsal dinner. Great. “You said, sarcastically. He pulled some hair behind your ear. “I’m sorry.” he whispered. You give him a small smile. “Are you really sorry?” you ask. He nods, he got closer to your lips before pressing a kiss on your lips. “Very sorry.” he said, nodding. You put your hand on the back of his neck, scratching his head. “Do you still love her?” You ask. He purposely looked you in your eyes, and opened his lips to say something but he didn’t. You thought he was going to say what you feared. “No. I didn’t, even before I kissed her I knew I didn’t love her anymore.” he said, you give him a faint smile. The look in his eyes asked of something you didn’t know you could give. Forgiveness, and even though you still wanted to get married to him because you loved him so much, he still wasn’t forgiven. You get up from the floor. “Are we still getting married?” he asked. But, you had already left the bathroom so you wouldn’t have to answer.
You were getting ready with your maid of honor, sister, and your step mother, and the stylist your step- mom hired for the day. If you were going to be real honest your hair pulled up in a bun wasn’t what you had in mind. But, your step-mother was right, it suited better with the veil. Fifteen minutes till the big moment. A knock on the door, you turn around, and Timothee was in the doorpost, waiting for an okay to come. “Come in, Tim.” Z said, you wanted to strangle her for doing that. Maybe you were such a hypocrite yesterday with Harry because maybe you still had leftover feelings for Timothee. “We’ll let you talk.” your step sister said, she took her mother by the arm, and pulled her out of the room, Zendaya following them. “I want you to leave.” you said, getting up from your chair. “If you come with me.” he said, stepping further into the room, closer to you. “I don’t want to.” you said, he shook his head. “You don’t have to marry that british prick,” he said. You glare at him. Crossing your arms. “Careful.” you said, Timothee stepped closer to you. “You don’t really love him.” Timothee said, his hands were waving around like he could’ve casted a magical spell over you. You shake your head, taking Timothee's hands in yours. You look into his eyes, and you wonder if what you were about to say next would change his feelings for you. “I love him, Tim. I do I really do.” You said, you look at his fingers, his hands fitted nicely with yours. Better than Harry’s big hands. “We fit so well together. Y/n, and I know we broke up because of geographical differences but we can change that.” he said: “Please don’t marry that idiot.” You sign, you were tired of that argument because that was the argument you told yourself about why the two of you had to break up. You shake your head, and Timothee’s expression changed, he was confused about it all, and if you were honest so were you. “We did. But, it was boring. We ate the same food every night, we had the same sex every night. Nothing felt new.” you said, Timothee frowned. He seemed upset more than before. He must take it as an insult, was it? “We have no feelings for each other. They are old. I don’t love you like that anymore.” You said, he pressed his lips against yours, and perhaps this is how Harry felt kissing Camille, nothing. Everything you thought you were repressing was guilt for not feeling like that anymore. “See, I don’t love you anymore.” you tell him. You walk past him out of the room.
You were walking down the aisle, and it seemed absolutely horrible, this wasn’t the wedding you had wanted. You wanted just your friends, and elope or something. Don’t spend too much money on it, and on top of all that. The guilt. So much guilt, you kissed Timothee right before you walked out here, and it was all wrong. You reached up to Harry, and he looked so nice. Probably your mother’s doing, she had an eye for perfection. He didn’t hold out his hand for you. You look Harry in his eyes, and though the two of you fighted last night, he had a smile on his face. The officiant was about to start the ceremony, you take a step closer to Harry. Ignoring the people around you, you needed to speak to him. “Harry, we should talk.” you said in a soft tone. Harry looked to his side, he wasn’t sure what to do, he just nodded. “Sir, Can we just stop for a moment?” Harry said, to the officiant. Before he got an answer, he took your hand, and the two of you made your way to the hallway, Harry picked out a random room to enter. You felt the eyes of your friends and family burning on your back. Whispers about what was happening echoed behind you. Harry closed the door behind you, and you knew there was no turning back. “I know you kissed Timothee earlier, I went to check on you before the wedding and I heard some of what you said..” Harry said, you nod. You sat down on the desk that was in the office. Probably the concierges. You weren’t sure what to say about that. “But it is fine. I understand, I kissed Camille.” he said, in the most casual sense of the matter. You expected him to be so mad, and betrayed. But, he wasn’t. It was like he really did understand. A single bittersweet goodbye kiss. “So we’re even?” You ask. He nods. You held your hand in the air for a high-five. You hoped that would light the mood. Instead he looked at you like you were crazy. You kept your hand hanging in the air, Harry laughed eventually as he responded to your high five. He just looks you up and down. “Did I tell you how beautiful you look?” He said, he looked tired. You shake your head, he took your hands in his, and you felt smaller. He leaned forward, his breath in your neck. “Well you do.” he said: “What happened to your dream dress?” he remembered that dress you showed him two months ago. “You’d look amazing in that.” He whispered in your ear. You wish his words did something to you. But, you hated the dress, your mom picked it out and you didn’t feel beautiful. “We should get back out there and get married.” He said, he let go off your hands and half already a hand on the doorknob. He looked back at you, and he had a stupid smile on his face. “OR we get the hell out of here.” He said: “I hate everything about this wedding.” he looked at you, and hesitated if he said the wrong words, and you wanted to leave so badly. But, everyone was going to kill you. Your dad, and step mother for sure. They paid a lot for this wedding, and the press would have lots to say about the two of you leaving. But, what the hell. “I hate it too.” you laugh, walking towards him. He took your hand, and he helped you with the dress that was far too big.
After stumbling to get into the car with this big ball gown, Harry hurried over to his side of the car. You felt bad for Niall and Z that had to go explain to everyone that the bride and groom just eloped. “That is the most annoying dress I have seen in my life. Can you even see?” Harry asked. You laugh, because you could see a distorted view of the road, through three layers of tulle, and that was after the dress was pushed down. “Not really.” you answered. “I don’t want to go to the hotel room. It is the first place they’ll look.” Harry said, he was right. The two of you didn’t have a honeymoon planned because he was supposed to be back in the studio by monday. But, this threw all your plans kind of. “We could just keep on driving.” you suggest, and you expected him to tell you that you were being an idiot. He didn’t. He didn’t say anything, and through all the tule, you couldn’t tell what he was thinking. You felt kind of strange because the two of you were so fine leaving the wedding like that. Did that mean what you thought it meant? because even though you loved Harry enough not to elope with Tim. Why didn’t you love him enough to marry him? lots of questions raced through your mind. You attempt to press the dress down another time, and this time your view was more clear. “I love you.” you said to Harry. He nods. He didn’t say it back.
“We have to stop for gas.” he said, he took the exit off the highway. He stopped at the nearest gas station. He got out of the car, leaving you there, you noticed the Sainsbury across the street. When Harry went to pay for the gas, you struggled to get yourself out of the car. There luckily wasn’t a lot of traffic on the two way street, and you could quickly get across. The people shopping in the store looked at you strangely, some looked at you with pity. You hurried through the store, and as you exited you saw Harry leaning against the hood of the car. When you reached for the car, he looked angry, though he wrapped you in his arms. “I thought you decided to leave me too,” he said softly. He kissed the top of your head. “No I just went in to get some clothes, and some food.” you tell him. But, you could tell from his expression that he was relieved to see you again. Somehow this decision did bond the two of you together more like a team than ever. “You’re gonna have to help me get out of this dress.” You chuckle. He looked questionably at the dress, not really sure what to do about it.
You were wearing some shorts and a shirt topped with a sweater. Harry had his sleeves rolled up, and had taken off his tie, vest and jacket. He was wearing his sunglasses and driving down the highway towards the canal. Your feet were on the dashboard even though Harry told you a thousand times that it was dangerous. You didn’t care, you had the windows rolled down, letting your hair fly in your face, and you sing quietly along with the lyrics on the radio, even Harry had a genuine smile on his face. One you hadn’t seen the past couple of weeks.Because old lovers weren’t the only thing the two of you argued about. It was the wedding. Harry was upset that you didn’t have enough backbone to tell your parents that the wedding plans they had weren’t the ones you wanted. Not the dress, or the venue, or who came, and he had been patient with you but it felt like it wasn’t your wedding. But, that didn’t matter because all that mattered to you was that you had Harry by your side.
* Forgiveness in this situation is a difficult thing, and I don’t know what I would do in this situation, but I do think that these characters would forgive one another.
And for Z, we all do what we think is best for our friends

Stay. [Ethan Ramsey x MC]
Pairings: Ethan Ramsey x MC
Rating: General/ For All Audiences
Words: 3.7K
Disclaimer: All characters belong to Pixelberry.
Summary: MC is leaving Edenbrook after receiving an offer of a fellowship in Seattle. She's hoping for a goodbye from Ethan who grew distant after hearing the news.
[1st person POV.]
"This is really it then," Sienna says.
Her voice draws me out of my thoughts, her small frame is leaning against the doorframe of my bedroom. I bring myself to laugh, but the tears welling up in her eyes serve to remind me of the sadness of this day. Aurora stands besides her, her expression is unreadable, but over the years I have distinguished the expressions enough to know she is hiding her own sadness.
"I guess so," I say. My fingers pull up the last zipper, sealing my last suitcase shut.
My years as a resident at Edenbrook are over. Not too long ago I was offered a fellowship where I would continue my training under some of the best doctors in the world. Away from Boston and everyone I have come to hold dear... away from my friends. Away from Ethan.
"Has he come to say goodbye?" Aurora asks, her tone is soft and careful. As if she is afraid of upsetting me by mentioning him. There's a hidden layer behind her words, a subtle implication. An insinuation that there was something more, that she has known about it for a while.
Her question shocks me. Whatever my relationship with Ethan has been, we have always tried to keep it discrete. Friendly. Careful not to raise any suspicion, but Aurora is smart. She has always been observant, a quality of hers that is often forgotten and overlooked.
"You knew?!" I ask. My eyes scan her face, for resentment or just some sign that she will discredit all my work as the hospital, but there is nothing other than a sheepish smile that follows her confession.
"Sienna and I had been speculating about your relationship for a while. There were days where you would get back from the Diagnostics team meetings all flustered and then there were days where you would come back annoyed at something you wouldn't want to discuss," She says, shrugging as if anyone would have noticed.
"It didn't take too much to connect it to Ethan, when we would see Dr. Mirani and Dr. Hirata at Donahue's when you would stay and work late," Sienna adds, a smile on her face.
"Don't even get us started on the longing looks he threw at you when you weren't looking. Or the lingering touches when your hand would accidentally brush against his and-- yeah you two were definitely not subtle," Aurora laughs.
I can't help but join in. Some pressure of having to have had keep our relationship a secret seems to lift from my shoulders. Even though I am on my way out, and there was no need for secrecy anymore, I didn't find it necessary to mention our history. With Ethan in Boston and me in Seattle... the distance would never work. He could never leave Edenbrook, and I cannot pause my career when I'm only just getting started.
“When did it start?” Sienna asks giddily. Aurora rolls her eyes, but I her focus as interest.
“A couple of years ago. We both wanted to see who we were outside of the hospital. He’s met my parents. I’ve met his dad. It was--”
“Pretty serious. Wow. Years,” Aurora finishes. She thinks it over, seemingly replaying different encounters in her head, and nods, satisfied.
"...He hasn't said anything," I admit, referring back to their original question. "When I told him about the fellowship, he congratulated me and wished me the best. We didn't speak much after. He hasn't reached out, and I haven't been able to reach him. I don't think he's coming."
Aurora smiles sadly at me, "I don't know the full depths of your relationship. But it's obvious you two mean a lot to each other. He'll be here."
"You think so?" I ask.
"If there's one thing Ethan Ramsey cares about more than medicine, it's you. Maybe more. Probably more. I don't know what goes on in that man's head really. But I'm almost certain he would rather suffer than ever be the reason for your disappointment," Sienna replies. She pauses for a moment, and then her eyes light up as if remembering something. "Oh! The guest are here for your goodbye party! We were coming to get you. You're all set for the airport after right?"
I take a quick glance around my room, now bare, the few boxes left are going to be taken to a donation center sometime tomorrow by Elijah. There's a small pang in my chest, but I manage to shove it aside and plaster on a smile.
I find myself wondering about Edenbrook, about how different things would have been if they offered me a fellowship. Would I have chosen to stay? Would I still choose Seattle? Then the most obvious question surfaces, why didn't Edenbrook offer me a fellowship? Did they not think I was good enough? Did being on the Diagnostics team mean nothing?
"Yeah, I'm all set. You're still okay with driving me right?"
"Yup," Sienna says. "Now let's party like I won't see you tomorrow because I won't and... oh no, now I'm sad."
We laugh and move to greet everyone who is gathered in the living room. With no sight of Ethan, my party-ing mood deflates.
Hours pass, and Ethan never shows up. Soon enough, its midnight and the car is pulling up into the airport. Sienna, Jackie, and Aurora follow me to the entrance of the building. They begin to apologize for Ethan's absence.
"It's okay. He probably got caught up with work or--"
"It's not okay," Jackie interjects. "You don't have to make excuses for him. He didn't show up and he didn't so much as talk to you during your last few weeks. All he did was make appointments with the Chief and HR. He avoided you like the plague and now he doesn't even have the decency to say goodbye to you."
"Jackie--" Sienna starts, but Jackie cuts her short.
"What? Did I lie? I'm sorry, but it's the truth. He could at least said goodbye or tell you why Edenbrook didn't offer you a fellowship. It's not like he couldn't have asked Banerji about it."
Jackie goes to say more, but whatever look is on my face stops her. Her faces scrunches and she appears regretful. Her tone drops in its sharpness and she sounds genuine when she says, "I really am sorry."
The lack of an offer for fellowship at Edenbrook is a sore spot, and she knows I haven't wanted to talk about it.
"It's okay," I offer, but my voice isn't very convincing. They're kind enough to ignore it.
When it is clear that we have been delaying the inevitable, it Aurora who steps up first. Her hands wrap around me and I quickly reciprocate it.
"You're an amazing Doctor," Aurora says. "I wish you nothing but the very best with your career. Thank you for constantly encouraging me."
Don't cry, don't cry.
"Thank you Aurora," I say smiling. "You better believe I'm going to follow your career. I hope you invite me to the award ceremonies that you'll undoubtedly be nominated for."
When we pull apart, there is a shadow of a smile in her face, and she goes back into the car.
"I'm not one for tears," Jackie says, stepping up and pulling me into a quick hug. "Edenbrook is going to be ridiculously boring without you causing trouble."
"Believe me when I say not to count Bryce out just yet."
When it's just Sienna and I, I finally succumb to my emotions, encouraged by her own tears.
"Sienna! No fair, my eyes are going to be puffy and you promised me you wouldn't cry!"
"I can't help it," Sienna sobs. "You're my friend. My best friend!"
"Seattle isn't crazy far from California! I'll visit you every chance I get. You're gonna love it there."
"Oh god, I should let someone else drive," Sienna laughs, wiping her tears with her sleeve.
I laugh, "I think that would be best."
I pull her into a tight hug, thank her for being the best friend I could ever ask for. When we pull apart, we take a few minutes to compose ourselves before she speaks.
"I really am sorry about Ethan. I really did think he would show up."
I shrug, attempting to act indifferent. "Ethan isn't very good at goodbyes."
I think of his mother, and her sudden abandonment. I wonder if he thinks I am betraying him. I push the thought out of my mind. There's no way. Ethan, the man that only ever pushed me to be the best and supported me throughout my time in Edenbrook, who kept things professional for so long because he was aware of the mistreatment of women in any field, especially medical. There's no way that that Ethan Ramsey, my Ethan Ramsey, would be anything other than proud.
"Neither are we apparently," Sienna says, but the second the words leave her lips, a sorry expression appears. Suddenly, hearing the layers behind her words. The hidden meaning of not being good at goodbyes meaning you can't do a goodbye.
I pull her into one last hug before she was start issuing a series of apologies. I promise her that I'll call her when I land and swear I am okay, and finally head into the check-in station.
[3rd person POV.]
"Stop crying Sienna," Jackie says, clearly exasperated. Her hands rub small circles into the smaller woman's back.
"They probably haven't even boarded," Aurora appears suddenly. She had gone to find a place to park the car after Sienna refused to get in. "You could probably catch them and fly out with--"
The sounds of footsteps rushing across the pavement, of people shouting irritated "watch its", sounds of shoved groans and of loud apologies, draws the women's attention. They cannot make out what's happening, but a large figure is rushing towards them at a dangerous speed, too fast for them to move away.
"Varma, Trinh, Emery!" A strangely familiar voice shouts out to them.
"Were we expecting anyone?" Jackie mumbles to the ladies, too entranced by the scene that is unfolding to look away.
Aurora replied with a three beat hum that sounds like the words "i don't know" .
"Wait! We know him!" Sienna shouts suddenly, jumping up and rushing to meet him half way.
Their theatrics have gathered the attention of some onlookers now, the expressions vary from confused, annoyed, and excited.
"Dr. Ramsey?" Aurora calls out shocked, as his face comes closer into view.
"Oh my God," Jackie says, sounding suddenly very amused. They two women step forward until they reach them.
Sienna who reached him just as he bent over for air, pats his back as an attempt to help as Ethan Ramsey collects himself.
"Where...is...?" He asks through heavy pants. "Did I...miss...?"
The women stare at him, both confused and amused.
"We got here not to long ago..." Jackie says. "Maybe around fifteen minutes give or take?"
Sienna who suddenly seems very alert, "We don't think the plane has boarded yet. You could probably still catch---"
But Ethan Ramsey has already taken off leaving nothing but a cold rush of air in his place.
"...Never would have expected Ethan Ramsey to be so theatrical," Jackie laughs, watching his running figure speed off.
"God, nobody is ever going to believe us," Aurora says, joining in on the laughter.
"I think it's romantic," Sienna says, sighing happily. "Anyway. I'm okay. We can go now."
[1st person POV.]
"...And now I'm moving to Seattle for a fellowship."
The man in front of me in line grunts in response.
"But your man? He didn't say goodbye?" He asks, shaking his head disapprovingly.
I sigh dramatically, "Why does everybody like to focus on that part?"
"You 'oughta stop telling it like a tale of romance then," he shrugs. "Makes the story less about the relationship when you don't end it and start it with that fancy doctor you're leaving behind."
I nod, playfully understanding. "I'm a fancy doctor too, you know. But anyway, you're right. I'll do better next time."
He does a sort of chuckle and disappears into the terminal leading into the plane.
"Next."
I greet the attendant politely and hand over my passport, ticket and any other piece of paper she needs to let me on board.
"I think it's messed up that he didn't say goodbye. He should have at least said goodbye," a woman's voice says from behind me.
I turn to her and laugh, "He's not too bad--"
"Sir! There is no running in the--"
The sound of crashing draws my attention to the scene. Where a man has just accidentally tripped over and dropped the black stanchion rope, that was separating crowds into neat lines.
"I am so sorry! I just have to find and stop the person I'm in love with from getting on--"
"Ethan?!" I hear my voice call out, my feet seem to take off without me.
"I'd bet that the doctor she was mentioning," the woman from the line says, confidently.
Ethan looks up sheepishly when I reach him. "Hi," he says, his cheeks turning pink.
"Hey," I say. I can't help the smile that appears on my face. "You take a wrong turn somewhere?" I ask, amused.
He laughs, and takes my hands that reach out to help him up.
When he stands, his eyes settle on mine, and he sighs like he can relax now that he has found me. His hand comes up, and his thumb caresses my cheek.
Behind me I hear the man who I was initially speaking to, having probably come out with a flight attendant to see what the hold up was, say, "Well with his looks, I would've been without a goodbye either."
"Thanks, Gregg," I jokingly call out to him, not bothering to look back at him. He responds with an approving grunt.
"You've been talking about me?" Ethan asks, his eyebrows raise playfully.
"All good things," I hum. His eyes focus on me so intently, I'm worried he believes I will disappear if he looks away.
"We formed our own opinion!" The woman from the line calls out, earning a few laughs from the crowd.
"I should probably explain," Ethan says, not bothering to look away from me. The intense longing in his eyes makes my chest warm.
"Yeah," I say, "Yes. You probably should."
But the energy drawing us together is too strong and soon his lip crash onto mine, both his hands come up to cup my face, and I melt against him to the sound of cheering and whistles. When we pull apart, I become all too aware of our gathered spectators and press my face against his chest, in attempt to hide my growing blush.
Ethan offers up a meek apology to the crowd, who merely laugh and applaud. Gregg shouts out to thank us for the show.
A couple moments pass, and we look for a quiet part of the loud and busy airport where we can talk. We land at the sleeping pods area and settle in together.
"You didn't say goodbye," I say. His arms are wrapped around me and my cheek is pressed to chest.
"I know," Ethan says softly. His hand is rubbing soothingly up and down my back.
I lift myself off of his chest to look up at him, "That's all?"
"No, no. That isn't all," He says quickly, propping himself up. "I was figuring things out. You and I, we-- I always kept you at a professional distance because I didn't want anybody to look at you and link all your hard work back to me. I didn't want anyone to discredit your accomplishments and say that you only succeeded because I had a hand in your career. I didn't. Everything you have accomplished, that was all you. You're-- you're brilliant. You know that.
"It was you who put in all the work. It was all you. You worked so hard, you're passionate and smart. So I was confused when Banerji didn't offer you a fellowship at Edenbrook. I set up meetings with him to ask, he was too busy to ever meet with me at the hospital so I finally showed up to his house. When I mentioned it he was confused and he said that he had made you an offer," Ethan says looking up at me expectantly.
I am perplexed, nobody had ever responded to my fellowship application and certainly nobody had met me in person to discuss it.
"Nobody ever offered me anything?"
"That's what I told him. He promised me he would look into it and days later he realized there had been an issue. You were far too qualified to be a fellow, so he never intended to recruit you as such. But you had already accepted the fellowship in Seattle, taking the hospital silence as an answer. Long story short those he had he put in charge of offering you the position made the mistake of marking you out as an unavailable candidate. Banerji was incredibly mad when he found out. He wanted to apologize personally, but I told him you were leaving today and that you had to know before you left. Edenbrook is your home, and you have a position there. If you want it, of course. I know that you are very excited about Seattle, but you deserve all your option on the table."
I can't do anything but stare at him. It takes me some time to process the information. Edenbrook was offering a position. They always intended to offer me a position. But what had Ethan said? Not a fellow? What could I possibly be if not a fellow?
"Ethan? You said I was too qualified as a fellow so what position is Edenbrook offering me?" My voice is soft, afraid that if I speak to loudly I will scare the news away. That I will wake up in Seattle and this was all a dream.
He smiles brightly at the question, and his eyes shine with pride. "They're offering you an Attending position."
My pulse quicken, "You're joking. Tell me you're not joking."
An Attending position? That's the second highest position in a hospital, not including Chief of the whole hospital. There's Chief of hospital, Chief of individual section such as Chief or cardio, trauma, or general surgery, and then there are Attendings. Attending are in charge of Residents and Interns, and at Edenbrook I will become a teacher to interns who positions I was once in.
Ethan laughs, "When have you ever known me to joke?"
I laugh, and in a swift motion press my lips to his. His response is immediate. His hands wrap around my waist and his lip part, granting me entrance. My fingers run through his hair, and everything seems in place. Like this is the last piece of our now complete puzzle.
"Wait," I say, finally pulling apart to breathe. "This position is great. I know it is. And if I stay I would be staying for me, for my career. But..."
"But?" Ethan presses, running his hand down my cheek.
"But there's you."
He looks confused. "Yes, there's me."
"There's you. There's me. There's an us, Ethan. We would be working together and still on the Diagnostic team which you're the Director of. You're still my boss, and relationships like those, like ours still aren't allowed."
Ethan fishes something out of his coat pocket, a folded piece of paper that he hands me.
"About that," He begins, watching as I unfold and smooth down the paper. "I also set up some meetings with HR."
My eyes scan the words on the paper, and I look up at him confused.
Ethan smiles, "It's um, a Declaration of Love."
"A Declaration of Love?"
"Yes, the paper itself is simple. Really it's just a safety precaution for HR that the hospital won't be liable for any possible lawsuits. But the idea of it, what it would mean for us..."
"I could kiss you in the hallways," I reply, staring at the paper entranced. "You could hold my hand when we get off shifts and we can go home together..."
Ethan's eyes are soft when I look back up at him, "Yes, yeah all that," He smiles. "And you could also wear this."
My eyes focus on it for the first time. I was so focused on the piece of paper that would free us from all our secrecy that I hadn't even noticed him pull it out. The velvet box is open and displaying a beautiful ring.
Ethan moves down on to his knee, and I am frozen in place.
"I love you. I don't really know how you managed to do it, but you snuck somewhere inside me and buried yourself deep. And all I have ever wanted to do ever since, is keep you there. Warm and happy. I love you. You have helped me in way that I never thought a person could help me. You are the most supportive and brilliant person I have ever met. I love you. You're passionate about your work and patients, you have a drive that has the power to push anyone to be better. You love your work and you love it for the right reasons. You're driven and smart, your career is going to drive you so far and no matter where you choose to go, because it is your decision-- I'd follow you anywhere. We'd figure it out, I would just be happy enough if you let me go along for the ride. I will love you high and far, and I will keep loving you no matter how many pop culture references you make that I will never understand. I love you, so if you'll have me... will you please marry me?"
The tears are hot on my cheeks and I no longer trust my voice enough to speak. All I can do is nod my head yes, throw myself into him and disappear into him as our lips meet.
I realize now that no matter where I am, a piece of me will always be here in Boston, in Edenbrook with him. So when we pull apart and he slips the ring onto my finger, it feels right. This is where I must be, for my career undoubtedly, but also for him.
Suddenly, I find myself laughing, at Ethan confused and amused smile, I decide to let him in on the joke.
"I missed my flight and sent everything I own to Seattle."

Hallie - “you had it figured out since you were in school/everybody loves pretty, everybody loves cool.”
you’ve had it figured out since you were in school. everybody loves pretty, everybody loves cool
Part of the reason why Allie even sends in that self-tape for that Disney show is because Cassandra tells her not to. She’s feeling rebellious. She’s thirteen.
Only then she gets a callback. And then a skype call with a casting director. And then another call but with the creator of the show. And then she’s across the country, out in sunny LA (it’s December, and it’s snowing back in West Ham, and this shift in weather is really freaking her out).
She gets through one audition. And then two.
She gets the part.
And maybe the show won’t even last a whole season. Maybe it’ll be cancelled before it even airs. Maybe she’ll hate her castmates. Or just LA in general. And, God, she can’t sing. Does Disney know that? Do they expect a music career out of her? Maybe this is all she’ll ever be known for.
But then Cassandra tells her to go for it, and then her family packs up and moves across the country, and suddenly… suddenly this is it.
-
Post-Disney, the first film she does is this small budget indie thing that films on location up in Oregon.
There’s a definite learning curve.
First of all, craft services sucks. Which makes her sound like a snob, but God, she is so used to these mini chocolate croissants available at all times. Like, on the last day of shooting that Disney show, she asked what bakery they were from. One of her co-stars had laughed at her like it was some kind of joke which honestly hurt more than the show ending.
Second of all, nature. As it turns out, shooting outside and shooting on a lot is a very different experience. And shooting out in the rain, which it is always doing in Oregon—twenty-four seven—is an… experience. But a fun experience. Really fun. Makes her think that maybe she’s doesn’t need the job security that Disney provided. Like, fuck that.
And, last of all, Harry Bingham. He gets a whole bullet on this stupid list because he’s the guy who thinks he’s somehow better than her because he got an Oscar nomination or something for a film just like this one. And he was twitter’s white boy of the month, something he is way too proud of. Like, he can’t even remember his twitter password, so why the fuck does he keep bring it up?
-
It’s really late and dark and a little cold. They’re sharing a fuzzy blanket because they could only find one and they both wanted it and when someone on set suggests they just share it neither could come up with an actual argument as to that’s a bad idea.
“You know,” he says, sort of out of nowhere, “my sister watched your show. I think she might be in love with you.”
“Oh,” Allie says, and she’s smiling at him. Not for the first time because, sadly, because he is way too funny for his own good. It’s upsetting. It’s not fair. “So, unlike you, she has taste?”
He scoffs, but he’s smiling too, very brightly. Maybe she doesn’t need the blanket. “I never said I didn’t like your show.”
She stares over at him, not trying to mask that look of surprise taking over her face. She’s just trying to picture him actually watching the show… and it’s not easy. It was a Disney show. It was stupid and immature and Harry fuckingBingham was most definitely not its target audience. She’s trying to picture him watching those commercials, the ones where she’d draw the logo with the fake wand.
Finally, she says: “Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of it.”
Harry lets out this light sort of snort, more an exhale than anything else. “Why’d you do it then?”
Allie shrugs. “It was a job. It was an opportunity. It was a chance that wasn’t gonna pass up just because I didn’t think it was some revolutionary thing.” She pauses, wrapping herself up just a little tighter in the blanket. “My family moved out here after I got the job. I was fourteen, and they gave up everything just so I could do this.”
“You’re good at this, Pressman,” he tells her, softly, and it’s stupid how much those words mean to her.
“Thanks, Harry.”
When they’re called back onto set, she swears his eyes linger a second longer than they probably should. That means something to her too.
-
They film a kissing scene in the rain, and she swears her heart stop for a half-a-second.
The director yells cut, and Allie can’t help it, the way she’s blinking up at him, a bit like he hung the stars in the sky, or whatever other sappy bullshit you feel when you start to realize—
It just didn’t feel fake for a moment there. On Disney, everything felt fake. She’s just not used to things being this natural.
(There are two fuzzy blankets waiting for them off set. They still share.)
-
Shooting ends on a Tuesday, and they fly back down to LA together on a studio provided jet.
Harry spends the flight tossing popcorn at her while she tries to watch Notting Hill.
“You’re being obnoxious, Bingham,” she says, one earbud out, turning to glare over at him.
He grins. “Just trying to keep you from falling in love with Hugh Grant.”
“Not possible. I’m already in love with him.”
“He’s old now.”
“Still hotter than you.”
“Not possible.”
“Verry possible.”
He scoffs. “And living vicariously through Julia Roberts isn’t healthy.”
“Oh, you know from experience, don’t you?”
“I actually met her once, at the Oscars.”
“God, everything with you always comes back to that Oscar nomination, doesn’t it, Bingham.”
He lets out this sharp, surprised laugh. She bites back a smile.
“I’ll introduce you to her one day,” he offers, it’s softer, more genuine than cocky. They’ve never talked about any sort of future, any sort of friendship that follows them past this film. Her breath catches in her throat. Her heart stops once again.
“I think I’d like that.”
-
She has a tiny guest part on some broadcast television sitcom. Craft services has those chocolate croissants. She wraps herself up in a fuzzy blanket and eats three.
She asks Harry if he’d want to grab coffee sometime.
He texts back yes almost immediately.
She wraps herself up just a little tighter.
-
She sits on the couch in Harry’s childhood home and watches her Disney show with his little sister.
“You’re even prettier in person,” Sarah tells her, almost unabashedly, and Allie blushes a light pink.
From beside her, Harry grins. “The Bingham’s have taste,” he says, his voice almost a whisper in her ear, and that makes her blush a dark pink.
“Sarah’s my favorite Bingham,” Allie announces, and the girl smiles and laughs and leans her head on Allie’s shoulder.
This feels a lot like family, she realizes, the soft familiarity of it all.
She likes it. She likes it a lot.
-
The morning Oscar nominations are announced, she wakes up beside him in his bed, wearing an old shirt of his, something warm and soft.
They lay in bed and eat chocolate croissants and wait for the call. And the sun hasn’t even risen yet—it’s so fucking early—but there’s something like adrenaline keeping her awake. God, it’s so stupid to be this attached to an award, a little statue that means practically nothing, but…
Harry lays his head in her lap. She plays with his hair.
“And if I don’t get nominated?” she asks, softly, carefully.
He stares up at her. “Then you find another script to fall in love with and do it all over again.”
“And if I do get nominated?”
“Then we figure out how to sneak snacks in the Dolby Theater and you write into your acceptance speech what an amazing guy I am.”
She’s laughing as the phone rings, and he’s sitting up to answer it. And then he’s smiling, smiling so wide, and that means—
Allie’s crying and beaming, and Harry’s holding onto her like he’s trying to keep her anchored, trying to keep her from floating away, and—
It feels a whole lot like everything was worth it.
She’s happy.
send me song lyrics and a pairing and i’ll write you a drabble
#the society#drabble#hallie#yeah. i also don't really know what this is#a disney au?#actors au#idk i'm just complete shit at properly addressing prompts#also. it hit me while writing this that WE'LL NEVER KNOW HARRY'S SISTER'S NAME#and that hurts

Which Homestuck characters would read Homestuck and their opinion
idk i’m bored. What’s Homestuck^2? What’s epilogues? We’re strictly Homestuck in this house. Also only doing main characters, I’m not going to dive into the Felt or caparacians, I want this to be done today.
Beta kids:
June: Avid reader. Got in early and read the whole thing. Got shirts, unironically liked it.
Rose: Got in late, but got into it. Loved the tarot deck, uses it to pretend she’s reading while she just tells people their truths. Noticed some narrative issues but overall liked it.
Dave: Got in shortly after June did, read for a while, but his irony poisoning led to him sassing the HECK out of it. Made a diss blog. Kept reading it “ironically” and cannot tell if he actually likes it or not. Got a god tier hoodie he wears at home. Sampled some of the soundtracks for his raps.
Jade: Loved it. LOVED IT. Got the full soundtrack. Made remixes. Got all the shirts. One of the blogs that posted “UPD8!” whenever an update happened. Big fanartist during the Gigapauses.
Beta Guardians:
June’s Dad: Tried to get into it to connect to his daughter’s interest, but the memes were too much, so he became the “Are ya winning, daughter?” dad. Very supportive but would need fifty slow paced “Homestuck explained” videos.
Mom Lalonde: Read it, but was too intoxicated to remember most. She holds obscure knowledge and will remember minute trivia, but don’t ask her about any of the large plot points.
Bro Strider: Too busy being A Mess Of A Human Being to sit down and read.
Poppop Harley: Too busy being A Dang Explorer to sit down and read.
Alpha kids:
Jane: Takes time to read it slowly. Has a blog of theories she constantly updates. Was upset about how some plot points got dropped and underdeveloped.
Roxy: Much like Jade, loved it. While Jade made remixes, Roxy cosplays. She has killer cosplays of most characters. Screamed about updates on twitter. No filter, accidentally drops spoilers left right and center.
Dirk: Deep, DEEP character examinations. Draws diagrams, writes essays. Unironically liked the potential of Paradox Space, may have even submit his own stories to be a guest artist.
Jake: Read the whole thing, liked it, missed many connections and plot points, was satisfied with the ending. Got some merch, can say “I read Homestuck” in public and be blissfully unaware of any positive and negative baggage that comes with saying so.
Alpha Guardians:
Jane’s Dad: Much like June’s Dad, tried to get into it. Unlike June’s Dad, watched and read his daughter’s theories (and Dirk’s explanations when Jane linked them to him) and became A Walking Homestuck Encyclopedia. Jane is unsure how to feel about this. He, however, does not reference it.
Roxy’s Rosemom: Too busy fighting the good fight to read. It’s in her radar but didn’t get the time to read it.
Dirk’s Davedad: Read it as a novelty. Sent Hussie a gold-plated Bad Dragon dildo. Put offhand references to it on his movies, but they were so oblique that even readers didn’t get it.
Jade English: Too busy running her own baking good company to read Homestuck. Not even in her radar.
Alternia Trolls:
Aradia: Much like Dirk, got REAL DEEP into it. Makes youtube vids explaining classpects and narrative points. Actually wrote a dissertation on Homestuck.
Tavros: Tried to get into it, but the first few acts were not to his taste so he never got to the trolls ironically enough. Likes the character designs though.
Sollux: Next level Dave. Critiques the FUQUE out of it on every platform he can. If Hatedom is a thing, he made it. He’s the founder. It’s him. But he read it to the end.
Karkat: Read it, loves it, does some interesting character relationship examinations. Predicted who would end up with who with 100% accuracy. Wasn’t a vocal fan, didn’t get merch, but still liked it.
Nepeta: The shipper who launched a thousand ships. She writes crackfic but with deep care, making sure it makes sense that characters would end up together. Got one of every homestuck shirt. Very into it.
Kanaya: Got into it only because her friends got into it. If Karkat hadn’t talked about it she would not have gotten into it but she did because she wants to be able to carry a conversation with her friends. Not a huge fan.
Terezi: She can and WILL correct you if you get trivia wrong. She did not sit through hours of text-to-speech pesterlogs for some scrub to get it wrong. Defiant Homestuck defender. She’ll cut you if you say you don’t like Homestuck (she won’t, but she’s judging you from the other side of the room)
Vriska: Skipped the first acts and jumped right into Alternia. Little context, little care. Pretends she didn’t, gets facts hilariously wrong which Terezi takes as an invitation to tease her. Fanartist.
Equius: Another fanartist. He made physical media as opposed to drawings. Slow reader, got into it late and didn’t finish until way after the comic had ended. Did not get to experience the comic without Random Paradox Arms all over the place. Loved by the community for his short reaction posts about what happened at the point he’s at.
Gamzee: Either first person to post “Update” when comic updated, or doesn’t read for months and then catches up in two days. Skips many chat logs, but still gets most of the plot no problem. Remembers exact phrasing of the posts he does read though.
Eridan: Another Character Analysis blogger. He dives into (pun unintended) why some characters are The Absolute Worst and writes fanfic of how they would be if they had a chance to be in a different circumstances. The Problematique fan, but only because people assume the worst of him. He’s actually pretty chill.
Feferi: Superfan, and Super Content Creator. Started making plushies and charms and eventually started selling them. Her stuff became a badge of honor and people posted themselves hugging their plushies during the gigapause.
Ancestors:
Too busy caught up in their personal turmoils to read any of it. Except the Condesce. She sent Hussie a diamond-studded Bad Dragon dildo.
Beforus trolls:
Damara: Big fan, but doesn’t express it because of the crowd she’s with. But she has a blog where she tries to get in touch with new readers and is always open to answer questions others might have. Not a Big Name fan, but she’s much more vocal online than in person, and even then it’s through an alt account.
Rufioh: Got people into it, but he himself didn’t finish reading after the Scratch. Said he would but he just never got to doing so.
Mituna: Prone to ranting when updates happened. Very emotionally invested, nearly died when Game Over happened.
Kankri: The nitpicker to end all nitpicks. He critiqued everything, and hated that there were hero mode, simplified and silly drawings. Genuinely disliked all characters for faults that he himself has, yet never self-examined. Got a following that consisted three-quarters of people who made fun of his rants and one-quarter of people who were as intense as he is.
Meulin: Big, BIG fan. Prolific fanfic writer, if a character pairing exists, rarepair or not, she wrote a fic about them. Likes all characters and as such thinks she must devote roughly the same wordcount for everyone she can. Disappears for months then reemerges with twenty new fics.
Porrim: Moderate fan, great cosplayer. The more complex the outfit, the more she wanted to make it. Routinely goes out in Jade’s Dead Shuffle and Three in the Morning dresses because she is incredibly proud of them.
Latula: Not a big fan. Knows most of what she knows through cultural osmosis because her friends got into it, but she’s not likely to ever read it herself. Likes how into it her friends are though.
Aranea: Much like Jane’s Dad, she’s the walking encyclopedia, except she memorized the content of almost every page, and if she doubts her knowledge, will immediately go to her computer and look up what she is unsure of. Tries not to talk people’s ears off and will only talk about Homestuck when asked about it.
Horuss: Super into it. To a maybe creepy degree. Doesn’t show in public but if you get access to his secret blogs it’s more like character shrines. Don’t dig too deep into it.
Kurloz: Read it, kinda into it, but not that big of a fan. He will talk about it but he’s pretty lukewarm about the whole thing.
Cronus: Read it to impress a crush, got genuinely into it, but isn’t a vocal fan.
Meenah: Didn’t read it, much like Latula learned about it because everyone around her talked about it. Unlike Latula, she mocks everyone for liking something she says is “for nerds”. Still kinda wants to read it to be part of the conversation but her pride of Not Knowing About Homestuck is too great to overcome that hurdle.

Will everyone just stop talking about DanPlan
Both sides already said what they wanted to say. Whether or not it’s true doesn’t matter, so don’t attack either of them for fibbing anything that they said. Both sides already told everyone to not attack each other. Even if they have lied to us, can we just respect that much?
We are honestly in no position to speak about what the heck is going on between them. We are the fans, yes, and we are entitled to support the people that we love, that’s true. But an internal fight like this between them is not something that we should be getting ourselves involved with.
We don’t know how they are like. We don’t know how Daniel or Stephen or Hosuh or Jay or ANY of the animators are living like. And though we do have some proof from Jay and Stephen, it’s honestly none of our business to know. We didn’t have to know that Daniel was allegedly underpaying his animators and guests. We didn’t have to know that Stephen was leaving so abruptly.
If Daniel’s story is true and Stephen broke a promise to announce his leave later and that Daniel genuinely felt betrayed by Stephen, then don’t blame Stephen for breaking that promise. If Stephen’s story is true and Daniel really has been pocketing most of the income for the channel and he has been manipulating his animators, then don’t go blaming Daniel for doing those things.
My point is, DON’T DO ANYTHING.
This is their own fight, their own issues and their own lives that they are talking about. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with us. Whatever they have to do, we need to trust that they can handle it themselves. They aren’t children. They are full grown men. If this was something that serious, like forced labor or maltreatment, we would have heard some form of legal practices getting involved. Thank god we haven’t heard anything like that, and we should make sure it stays that way.
We are the community that they built for fun and for enjoyment, NOT for us to take sides and fight. This isn’t what FanPlan is about and I sure as hell hope that we won’t go down like this. Everyday, I see people debate and argue about who’s in the right and in the wrong and it makes me so upset that our community is falling apart like this.
Call me selfish, go on ahead and do it, but if Stephen hadn’t posted that video... if what Daniel has said is true and that Stephen posted his video on impulse and out of anger... if none of this argument that happened between them ever went out into the open for us to see... I’d be less sad about DanPlan taking a break.
And I know that they’d take a break because in the best case scenario, Stephen would leave DanPlan peacefully, Hosuh would go into the military without worrying about the channel, the animators could have a long break from animating some videos and Daniel could take the time to reflect and plan for DanPlan when the storm has past.
But guess what? Now Stephen leaves with everyone pointing fingers at Daniel, Hosuh leaves for military worried that horrible things are about to happen, all the animators are pressured by US to tell us the truth about their wages, guests of DanPlan have to suffer in terms of a ruined pedestal and never having a DanPlan video with them in it, the community is being pulled apart and everyone is taking sides and fighting so much, and Daniel is just sitting in the middle of the madness, with people lashing at him everyday, afraid of saying absolutely anything online and the guilt of what happened weighing him down like bricks.
Regardless of who’s speaking the truth and who’s lying, one thing is for certain, DanPlan’s over.
It’s just... over.
... ...
Seriously, if NONE of this internal drama ever met the light of day, things could have been so much better...
#danplan#DanPlan#for crying out loud please stop#we dont need anymore bad stuff for 2020#dont blame anyone anymore

Original Writing: The Audition
yes my friends it’s high time for another behind-the-scenes look at the Austro-Hungarian Cinematic Universe! @ella-enchanted27 I apologize that I didn’t post this last night when I was actually talking about it, as I fell asleep, but here we are!
Starring:
The Late, Great Anna Kiraly (a 19th-century Fran Drescher)
Clara the Violin, as Herself
A Serendipitous Music Professor
A Bunch of Kids
Had Professor Strobel entered any other bakery on any other street in Pest on March 3, 1861, things might have turned out very differently.
But, whether thanks to fate, God, or simple good luck, he did step into Sovany’s that rainy afternoon. And furthermore, he’d managed to forget the Hungarian for roll.
After a moment of staring at the baker in extremely awkward silence, Strobel was strongly considering turning tail, fleeing back to his hotel room, and making a meal out of crackers and cheese. He might very well have done this, had he not suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder.
The shoulder-tapper was a tall, rangy woman with dark red hair piled on top of her head, dressed in a gray woollen frock and striped apron, and she eyed him with amusement. “Mister. You need help?”
Delighted at finding someone in this part of the city who spoke German— regardless of how well—Strobel nodded. “Indeed, madam. Perhaps you could translate for me?” He explained what he needed, and the woman informed the baker in incomprehensible Hungarian, resulting in a warm bag of rolls being deposited in Strobel’s hand.
“Thank you, Mrs…?”
“Király,” the woman said. “Király Anna. Who are you?”
Remembering his manners, Strobel tipped his hat. “Professor Johannes Strobel, at your service.”
“Professor, eh? You teach school?”
“Indeed, at the Academy of Music in Vienna. Thank you once again for your help, if there’s anything I can…”
“Wait.” Mrs. Király’s gray eyes focused on him sharply. “You work at a music school?”
“A music school!” Strobel chuckled. “Madam, I work at the music school. The finest in Europe.”
“Ah! Good. Then you will come to have dinner at our flat. It is necessary that you meet my son.”
Oh, heavens, not this rigmarole. It was an unfortunate hazard of being a music professor that many people, upon hearing his profession, would attempt to foist all manner of untalented relatives on him, claiming that they were utterly brilliant and didn’t they deserve a spot at the Academy. Strobel sighed, preparing himself for the inevitable. “Your son, madam?”
“My son. He plays the violin. He is,” Mrs. Király said with resignation, “a very good boy. But he will not get the proper education here. We do not yet have a music school in Pest.”
“Mrs. Király, I am sure your son is very talented, but I am not certain...”
“I know, Professor. You will think I am prejudiced for my son, and you will not believe that he is talented. But I did help you just now, and you did say ‘anything I can do.' What you can do, Professor,” Mrs. Király said firmly, “is to come to a very good dinner, and to spend five minutes listening to my Andras play the violin, and then to go home in peace. This is fair, yes?”
Strobel resigned himself to the inevitable. If nothing else, Hungarian home cooking sounded pleasant enough. “Very well, Mrs. Király. Lead on.”
...
Upon entering the Király family flat, what hit Strobel first was the smell. A good smell—meat and onions and spices, filling up the small space and making his stomach growl. The smell emanated from a small stove in the corner of the room, where a short, stocky man leaned over a steaming pot.
“Ah! My husband makes goulash,” Mrs. Király said with satisfaction. “György! Látogató!”
The man at the stove turned around, his bushy eyebrows drawing together in suspicion at the sight of his wife’s unexpected company. Strobel noted, with some surprise, that Mr. Király—who this must have been—had a wooden leg.
There ensued a brief conversation in Hungarian, at the end of which Mrs. Király seemed to emerge the winner. She turned back to Strobel, smiling brightly. “My husband’s German is not so good,” she confessed. “But there is no need to worry, we have plenty of food for you. Would you like to meet the children? They will be in the other room, studying.” She paused as a burst of raucous laughter sounded from behind the narrow door. “They should be studying. Children! Come now, we have a guest!”
There was some scuffling from behind the door before it opened and an assortment of youngsters tumbled out: first, two brown-haired little girls, followed by a tall, thin boy gently carrying a toddler.
“Here you are, Professor,” Mrs. Király said proudly. “The baby is little Katalin—only we call her Kitti—and then there is Jozefa next, she is six, and Ilka is nine—and here is Andras, he has just turned sixteen. He,” she added, lowering her voice conspiratorially, “is the one I tell you about.”
To Strobel’s eternal shame, his first thought regarding young Andras was Well, he certainly looks like a musician.
He chastised himself immediately afterwards, of course—hadn’t he learned, during his career as a teacher, that musicians came in all sorts of shapes and sizes? And yet it couldn’t be denied that young Andras’ thin face, long fingers, and slightly shaggy auburn hair gave him a rather artistic air.
Appearances didn’t factor into the matter, though. What was important was whether or not he could play the violin. Which was yet to be confirmed. Strobel was not allowing himself to entertain any high hopes.
“Children, here is Professor Strobel, who is visiting us from Vienna,” Mrs. Király said. “You will speak to him in German so you can practice. And Andras, you will play the violin for him after dinner.”
Andras frowned, glancing from Strobel to Mrs. Király. “Why?”
“Because he is from the Academy of Music,” Mrs. Király explained patiently. “And perhaps he can help you.”
The boy looked as though someone had just told him he was going to war. “Do I have to, Ma?”
Mrs. Király raised her eyes heavenward, as if asking for strength. “Yes, Andras. You must. But first we will eat.”
...
Dinner was delicious, though Strobel was careful not to eat too much; generous as this family was, they still had four young children to feed. And generally nice children they were, at that. Little Jozefa explained, in an odd mishmash of Hungarian and German, that she could read an entire story on her own now with no help, and nine-year-old Ilka had shyly informed Strobel that Father Jonas at church had taught her to play a song on the piano and had the Professor ever seen a grand piano?
Andras, meanwhile, spent most of the meal in taciturn silence, occasionally casting worried glances in Strobel’s direction. There was an almost palpable air of anxiety around him, and when the last of the goulash had been eaten Strobel fully expected him to flee like a frightened rabbit. From the look on Mrs. Király’s face, however, it was clear that this was not an option.
“Girls, you will please help your father with the dishes now,” she said briskly. “Andras, you will go and get Clara.”
“Who is Clara?” Strobel inquired, raising an eyebrow.
“Clara is my violin,” Andras replied, a bright red flush spreading across his high cheekbones. “That’s what Mr. Batori called her...it. He taught me to play, only he died last month, so I have Clara now.”
Strobel nodded sympathetically. “My condolences, young man. If you don’t think you can play…”
“No, I suppose I’d better, if Ma says so.” Andras let out a long-suffering sigh and rose from the table. “Excuse me for a moment.”
He returned a moment later with a violin that, while it had clearly seen better days, was undoubtedly high-quality—whoever this Mr. Batori was, he must have been a professional. Without ceremony, Andras lifted the instrument to his chin and began to play.
The piece was one of Bach’s sonatas and a devilishly tricky one at that, though Andras didn’t seem particularly worried. Indeed, the minute he’d started playing, the panicky, awkward boy faded away to be replaced with something entirely different, someone who knew exactly what he was doing. A true artist.
And Strobel, who had seen so many auditions and met so many gifted young people, felt a familiar prickle of excitement, knowing exactly what he was confronted with.
Talent. Pure talent.
...
After a brief and quiet conversation with Mrs. Király, Professor Strobel left his card and the address where he was staying and returned to his hotel in high spirits. A prodigy, by God, a genuine prodigy! Certainly, perhaps he was starting a bit late—Liszt had given his first concert at the age of nine—but after all, sixteen was still young. A nice young lad like that could go very far, given the right support. The Királys would make the right decision, naturally. They had to.
Upon returning to his hotel the next evening, Strobel was surprised to see young Andras waiting for him; not with his mother, whom Strobel had expected to see, but entirely alone.
“Professor,” he said. “Could we talk?”
Strobel nodded and ushered the boy upstairs to his room, where Andras perched on one of the chairs looking highly uncomfortable.
“What can I help you with, my lad?”
“Well,” Andras said hesitantly. “Ma says you want me to go to that fancy school, in Vienna.”
“Indeed I do. It would be exactly what you need, in my opinion.”
“That’s kind of you, Professor. I know Ma wants me to go, she’s been talking about it with Pa all day, and I’m very grateful, but I…” He took a deep breath. “I can’t go.”
“Can’t?” Strobel frowned. Had he not made it clear to Anna that there was no reason to fuss over money, that there were scholarship funds for this sort of thing? “Why on earth not?”
“Professor, you came to our home. You saw we have no money.” Andras’ German was good, schoolboy-correct, though his accent was considerably more distinct when he was upset—which he clearly was now. “If I stay here, I can get a job in a factory or a shop, help my sisters. I can’t send money home if I am at music school.”
Strobel was not a temperamental man, but at this, he nearly could have thrown something. “Andras, how old are you? Sixteen, your mother said?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Nearly an adult, then. So I will speak to you as an adult. You are a fool, young man, for thinking that getting a job in a factory will help your family more than your getting a free education. Do you think I would be offering you a scholarship, to one of the finest conservatories in Europe, if I didn’t think it would be worth my while? Now, I cannot guarantee you professional success,” Strobel admitted. “It’s a tricky business, music. But I can tell you now that even a poor violinist in Vienna will be able to help his family more than a factory worker in Pest. And furthermore, if anyone who can play the violin like you decides to work in a factory or a shop, you may as well spit in the gods’ faces. It is unacceptable.”
“Oh.” Andras blinked, evidently somewhat taken aback. “I did not think of it like that.”
Strobel sighed, passing a hand over his brow. “I apologize if I was too forceful. But really, there is only one question that matters here. Do you want to study at the Academy?”
Andras hesitated, tapped his fingers together awkwardly, ran a hand through his already wild hair—and then nodded.
“Good,” said Strobel. “Then there is nothing more to be said on the subject.” He smiled and gently patted the boy on his shoulder. “You will do well for yourself, I think, Master Király. And believe me, I am someone who should know.”

My son, Spencer.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader Guest Appearance: None. World: Single dad AU Genre: Fluff Word Count: 2577
Warnings: bad writing.
Summary: Bucky didn't mean for Y/N to meet his son like this, but maybe this was exactly how it was supposed to happen.
Prompt: Single Parent/Babysitter. written for @flightofthefantasies Beat the Heat writing challenge that I almost missed the deadline for. This is sorta rushed between orientation and the hurricane, I’m so sorry!
↤↤↤↤↤ ↦↦↦↦↦
Bucky loved Spencer. He loved him with every bone in his body, every fibre of his being. Spencer was his little ray of sunshine, his little superman. No matter what, Spencer came first, which was why Bucky hasn’t properly dated in a little over 4 years.
Be it because being a single dad took all of his time and focus, or because, just like last time a relationship started to get serious, the mention of Spence had made the girl run to the hills. And so, Bucky vowed, for little Spencer’s sake and his own, daddy wouldn’t introduce him any lady friends until it was serious.
That’s why Y/N, the girl he’s crushing on and been on a couple casual dates with, had no idea Spencer even existed. Sure things were getting a little serious, but Bucky didn’t deem it over the seriousness threshold that meant Y/N meets Spencer.
He didn’t think it was a good idea, at the beginning, but Sam had insisted and, not knowing what to do, Bucky decided to give his plan a try, to date and not say anything about Spencer. And it had worked, for a little bit, but only because Bucky felt awful not telling her, despite how new it all was. Spencer was too important, so he had decided, even if Y/N meeting Spencer wasn’t at all on the table until way down the line, that he would at least tell Y/N the truth. That he was a father of a very energetic 6 year old that meant the world to him.
It was scary. He had tried and backed out a couple of times. Others it hadn’t been the right moment. Maybe she’d cut whatever their relationship was building up to short. Maybe she’d run. He didn’t know, but she had to know about Spencer. He was going to tell her today, and maybe have them meet in a month or two, he hadn’t yet decided.
But one thing was for sure. He certainly did not plan or want it to be in T-30 minutes.
Bucky scurried around his place, trying to have it clean, and dialing every contact on his phone. Babysitter had bailed on him last minute. Steve couldn’t pick Spencer up. Sam couldn’t take him until in about an hour, when it would be too late, and Natasha would have taken him, but she would have ended up dropping him back off in about 40 minutes, couldn’t keep him for long. Soon he was out of friends to call, out of family members to ask favours for, and before he knew it, Y/N had texted him she was on his way to pick him up for whatever they had planned today and Spencer was running around half naked, fruit cup forgotten in the kitchen.
Before he knew it, there was a knock on his door and he had time to take one deep breath. Nothing more. It was now or never.
He looked disheveled and exhausted when he opened the door, and Y/N gave him a confused look. Was he okay? Before she could ask, he interjected.
“Uh, change of plans… There’s something I have to tell you” And with that he opened up the door, revealing the little rascal hanging onto his leg.
There wasn’t any yelling, or running – at least not yet – no shocked faces either, as he sat on the couch with her, and prompted Spencer to leave with a “Why don’t you go get the dinosaur coloring book so we can show daddy’s friend Y/N, yeah?” and with that the little boy ran, the promise of a good 5 minutes without the kid around – the coloring book in question was very well hidden, it would take him a hot minute to find – so he could explain to a wide-eyed Y/N what was happening.
“So uh… yeah. That’s Spencer–” Bucky gulped and he’d think his saliva turned into a ball of iron with how hard it was to swallow, but he somehow pushed it down and found the strength to continue – “My son”
“Come again?” was all Y/N could say and Bucky sighed deeply. It was now or… Well, it was now or nothing.
“I was going to tell you. Remember the other night when we went to the movies? I got that emergency call from work? Or that day at the park and you had to rush to get to your grandma’s?” Y/N nods along, staring at his blue eyes, not wanting to miss a single detail. “Yeah so… I wanted to tell you before you met him, it’s just… No one could watch him while we went to the museum today so...”
Bucky’s head hangs low, as he plays nervously with his fingers on his lap. He’s ashamed to say the least. How must he look to her now? Like a terrible father. A liar. A fraud. A weirdo. It was a matter of time before she told him she didn’t want to go on any more dates with him. And he would have to be okay with that… It wouldn’t be the first time he had to… Move on, act like nothing ever happened and pedal on through. For him and Spencer. He couldn’t afford pausing his life to weep a breakup. No matter how serious it was.
God, why did he listen to Sam’s stupid advice?
“James” he sees her hand over his fidgeting fingers on his lap, and is prompted by her silence to look up and meet her eyes, guilty and sad. He doesn’t think she’s called him James in a long while. Maybe that’s bad news.
“I’m horrible, I know. I should have told you sooner, I get it if you’re mad at me, and I understand if you’d like to leave. I-”
“Bucky, you’re fine” and her tone is so sweet it almost makes him melt. But nothing else can be said as Spencer returns with his coloring book in one hand, a box of crayons in the other “Talk about it later” she says, and there’s silence.
If Y/N is actually upset, she hides it well. Instead she’s getting off the couch and kneeling in front of the coffee table to color with Spence and she plays along as he points to every dinosaur and names it with confidence. He really loves dinosaurs. Bucky mimics her actions and sits on the other side of his son, proud of how smart he is, yet terrified this is the first and last time Spencer will see Y/N. He can only pray it turns out okay, for his son’s sake.
------
If anything, Y/N’s shocked.
Shocked that he never told her, but at the same time, the more she thinks about it, the more she can see where he was coming from. Her sister did the same when she got back to dating after having her daughter. Not everyone feels comfortable going into a relationship where the other person has a child, and unfortunately it drives a lot of single parents to have to do similar things. Would she have wanted to know sooner? Yes, she can’t lie. But she can’t lie either and say that it would have changed anything.
Spencer is a carbon copy of his father. She can’t help but stare at the two of them as they effortlessly chat and draw. Not only are his chocolate curls the same deep brown as his dad’s. And his lashes so full and long and soft, making the same hue of vibrant blue pop out. His chubby cheeks are adorable and they make Y/N wonder if Bucky had the same chubby cheeks when he was Spencer’s age.
Not only does he look like his dad, he seems to act like him too. Sweet and funny and adorable. The way his tongue pokes out as he focuses on coloring inside the lines makes her picture her first date with Bucky, as he focused just as hard to try and get her a silly toy from a machine at the carnival.
She doesn’t know where things with Bucky are going, at least not long term. They are… They just are something. It’s all so new yet so good. But as she finds herself laughing and playing with the sweet boy, she knows it wouldn’t have made much difference to learn about him yesterday or tomorrow. It didn’t change that Bucky was wonderful. If anything, it proved he was an amazing person. Caring and loving and… Bucky was just good. They could always take things slower, but Y/N knew one thing. She wanted things to keep going.
It’s 4pm when Spencer is taking his afternoon nap in his room, and Bucky has made Y/N and himself some tea as they sit on the couch, facing each other, knees touching and the nerves taking over Bucky’s gut all over again.
Y/N’s looking at him with a sweet tender look, and he doesn’t understand it. How is it that she’s still here like nothing has happened? He doesn’t know, but he’s glad.
“Spencer is such a sweet kid” is the first thing she says, nonchalantly, as she sips her tea.
Bucky sighs happily. “He is…” He runs a hand down his face and scoots closer to Y/N, placing a hand on her knee. “I’m so sorry I didn’t say anything. And that you had to meet him like this. Without any warning”
“You say that as if you were taking me to a hurricane.” He giggles along with her and stares into his tea cup, searching for God knows what. Silence reigns in the room for too long, and when she asks him why, he’s relieved to not hear judgement and hatred in her voice, but genuine curiosity instead.
And he tells the whole story. How it’s been him and Spence since he was born. How even though Spencer is the most important thing in the world to him, he doesn’t think he should feel guilty he wants to try his hand at love again, and how, sadly, he’s proven the theory that having a kid isn’t the best opener on a date. He hadn’t dated seriously in so long, but Y/N had appeared out of nowhere and he didn’t know what to do.
“I chickened out, thought you might… It’s whatever, I… I-I have to protect him first” he says and Y/N’s heart melts. It’s as if there’s a heart filter around Bucky all of a sudden. All he did, he did thinking about Spencer, about guarding him from any potential pain. So noble, so kind.
Y/N reached over, cupping his cheek in her palm, the soft stubble she had grown to really like on him, warm and fuzzy to the touch. And then she’s kissing him, deeply. Unlike any other kiss they had shared so far. It means a lot to her that he’d share this with her, but it means even more to Bucky that despite all the guilt he feels and the absolutely horrible plan of not telling her, she’s giving it a chance. Everything seemed to have turned out better than expected, so far.
Y/N bites her lip when they part, and it’s one of the cutest things Bucky’s ever seen. After holding Spencer for the first time, or when Spence finally said daddy for the first time. This moment, feeling like this, is kinda up there.
“Maybe we can take him to the museum next time?”
It’s like music to his ears. Shocking, for sure, but angelic. His lungs feel on fire, like he’s going to dissolve into a puddle if this keeps up. The sigh he expels is so deep and relieved and filled with adoration.
“You want to go out with Spence?” he asks, incredulously, and Y/N nods eagerly.
“Is that weird? Too fast? Too fast for sure… –” she pulls back a little, an apologetic look taking over her features – “It’s just an idea, if and when you’re comfortable with that” Bucky ponders it fondly.
“...Okay” finally he whispers, a grin appearing on his face that he can’t control. “Maybe later?” and Y/N nods again, understanding. Her fingers playing with the hair at the nape of his neck make shivers run down his spine.
Bucky starts to pull her in by her waist, almost prompting her up on his lap, for a repeat of that last kiss, that burning, intense, meaningful kiss. His lips are almost feeling the warmth of hers when there’s a thud behind them, and Bucky looks to find Spencer rubbing his eyes at the bottom of the stairs. Awake already.
“Daddy, can we watch the dinosaur movie?”
“Again buddy?” There’s no annoyance in his voice, if anything Bucky finds it amusing how his little boy could watch the same film over and over and over again without tiring. He supposes it’s a good thing it’s at least a very educational film. Spencer nods cutely, Y/N can’t help but ‘aww’ and clutch her chest in adoration. That little boy is too cute for his own good.
“I want Y/N to watch it too, can she stay?”
Bucky looks to you, mouth slightly open in surprise. You don’t have to, his eyes scream at you, but you wave him off and scoot to the other end of the couch, opening space for Spencer to sit in the middle and cuddle up to his dad.
“A dinosaur movie? I’m in!” and Bucky smiles stupidly wide as Y/N helps Spencer up on the couch, his feet dangling off the edge and his tiny hand remains on her knee, where he placed it as support to hop on.
Correction, this is the cutest thing Bucky’s ever seen.

Please continue the fic about Peter being a PI.
Ah, this is an old one.
Juno is the Thief and Peter is the Detective | Part 2 | Part 3
When Juno’s vision comes back into focus, he finds himself staring at what can only be the subject of a still life arranged on the bedside table. Kiwis, dragon fruit, a bunch of bananas, and a glass of orange juice, a cup of yogurt.
And yes, okay, he’s famished. Even discounting the time he’s spent unconscious, it’s been too long since he last ate. But he’s not an idiot about it.
The idiot detective left him a spoon and knife as part of the table setting. And sure, it’s just a butter knife, but he’s done plenty of damage with less than that. He stashes the knife at his thigh and then starts scarfing down what he’s been given.
He suspected the detective might be listening in on him, and he was right. As soon as he starts making noise, the door opens, and there he is: tall and lean and way too pretty to be on that side of the law.
“Oh good,” he says, flashing that sharp-toothed smile. “You’re awake.”
Juno grunts. He doesn’t owe the detective a reply.
“Are you enjoying your breakfast?”
“Is that what this is supposed to be?”
And dammit, Juno can see the suave retort on the detective’s lips, just itching to come out, and he can only guess at which one it’s gonna be. Maybe something about how Juno didn’t seem to mind when Rose was hand-feeding him strawberries. Maybe a quip about the last time Rose made him breakfast. Maybe an allusion to other ways entirely to keep his mouth full. He doesn’t even have to say it out loud for Juno to feel the sting.
And maybe something shows on Juno’s face, because the detective’s expression falters.
“I didn’t know when you’d wake up,” he says at last. “I wanted to leave you something that would keep.”
Juno grunts again. He can’t think of anything else to do.
If he wasn’t still pissed, he might be grateful that the detective changes the subject. He opens a drawer in the bedside table. “I had Rita get you some clean clothes. Ones that haven’t been dredged through the sewer.”
“Nothing wrong with my clothes,” Juno mutters, just because he’s feeling petty.
“They were a biohazard. I tried to launder them, but the landlord threatened to evict me if I brought them within a hundred yards of the washing machine.”
Juno sits upright fast enough to make the medical tape pull at his arm. “Your landlord knows I’m here?”
“That was a joke.” The detective raises his hands to calm him. “No need to get upset.”
“Oh really?” Juno demands. “You sure about that? Because last time I checked, you stalked me, you kidnapped me, you took my clothes off, you stuck me full of needles–”
“To save your life,” the detective says. “They would have done the same for you at Hyperion General.”
“You think they would have sold me a lie to fuck me for three days straight at Hyperion General?”
“Usually that depends on your insurance provider.”
“Shut up,” Juno mutters, because he’s not playing this game. He’s not gonna banter with the detective like they’re partners. He’s not gonna fall for that. Not again.
“Juno,” the detective says again, his voice softer. “I do want you to know–”
“Which part of shut up don’t you understand?” Juno snaps. “I don’t want to hear it.”
“Yes. Well.” The detective nods. “Do let me know how the clothes fit. I can find you something else if those don’t work.”
Juno tries not to hate himself as he watches him leave.
-------------
Peter isn’t surprised when he finds his bed empty and Juno gone. He’s had a few days to recover, and at least he’s taken the bottle of antibiotics with him.
It might not even be too much to hope for that he stays out of the sewers from now on.
Still, he keeps his subscription to Houndwatch active. It’s on the show, weeks later, that he learns of Juno’s latest escapade. The hosts are in the middle of memorializing their beloved Hellhound when they’re interrupted by a special bulletin: the Hellhound has struck again. His latest victim is an elderly collector who murdered anyone who wouldn’t sell her their Ancient Martian artifacts.
Peter can’t help but feel a twinge of approval when he hears it. He’s always felt acute distaste for people like her– wealthier than the gods themselves, and they’ll never be satisfied. Mag would be proud.
--------------
“Let me see if I understand you correctly,” Peter tells the police captain. “You want me to be your plus-one?”
Captain Khan’s mustache bristles irritably. “That’s what I said, isn’t it? Do you have honey in your ears or something? Now are you comin’ or not?”
“Not that I’m not flattered, but…” Peter picks his words carefully. I was sure you were monogamous hardly seems like the right way to put it. “I’m more a fan of romance than memoir.”
“It isn’t about the stupid book,” Khan grumbles. “I got a good look at the guest list, and Ingrid Lake ain’t the only criminal there. The whole party’s gonna be a big ol’ what’s what of the nastiest people this city’s got to offer. There aren’t enough handcuffs in the precinct for me to arrest them all.”
“Remind me, captain, are you trying to tempt me to go or warn me off? Because I’m afraid you’re sending some mixed signals. at the moment.”
“Maybe let me finish a sentence and I’ll get to that.” The captain scowls like a put-upon school teacher. “I’m gonna be there as Mister Public Relations, bein’ the face of the HCPD for all the cameras. That means that I can’t just go around questioning a bunch of known criminals. But the press don’t know a thing about you. Heck, a few of the guys at the precinct are taking bets that your face doesn’t show up on film.”
“You don’t say.” Honestly, he’s flattered. He’s put a lot of effort into making sure he’s never caught on camera. “So you want me to conduct your interviews for you.”
“Just keep an eye out. With that many shady characters, you know something big is gonna blow up. And I gotta be francine with you– at least half my precinct is on the take from at least one of those mudbags. I can’t trust ‘em. You, though.” He puts a big hand on Peter’s shoulder. “I don’t always get you, Glass, but I know what you’re about.”
Peter would be genuinely touched right now if there wasn’t something unsettling about this moment. He should be used to it by now; in all the strangest ways, Khan reminds him of Mag. He always feels just a little off balance when he’s around him, at once desperate to make him proud and waiting for the moment when he’s betrayed.
As always, he doesn’t let his unease show. “Well, you’re in luck. I just so happen to have the evening free.”
---------------
Juno never should have taken this job.
Vicky said it was gonna be easy. Just find the weasel who keeps stealing her delivery vans, drag them back to her club, and he gets another month rent-free in her safehouse. Nobody ever said anything about homicidal ex-girlfriends or endless agonizing about how the wife better not hear about this.
And nobody ever said anything about Captain Khan’s new assistant.
If this is another disguise, it’s working: nobody with eyes would take Rose for a private eye the way he’s dressed, all sleek and stunning in a tailored suit that he’ll probably have to peel off himself by the end of the night. Even if Juno wanted to ignore him, the detective is practically everywhere, slinking around between writers and white-collar criminals, hanging off the arms of arsonists, clinking champagne flutes with the mayor themself. God, does he have to flirt with all of them?
But of all the people here, Rose is the closest thing that Juno has to an ally. And if he’s going to get Vicky out of this party alive, then he’s going to need some help.
For most of the night he’s been slinking around the walls, looking for anything else he could possibly work with. Now he steps out of the shadows, positioning himself so that he’s directly in Rose’s line of sight the next time he turns.
It’s like something out of a goddamn movie. Their eyes meet across the crowded ballroom. Time seems to crystalize around them as the thief’s lips part to form words that he doesn’t say. Juno wants to...
It doesn’t matter what Juno wants. He needs Rose to get him out of this mess.
He jerks his head to one side, indicating the dark alcove by the locked back door. Rose gives a slight nod and makes his excuses to the mobsters around him.
Juno listens for the clack of Rose’s heels on the hardwood floor, but he’s still startled when that soft voice croons from behind him. “I don’t suppose I should be surprised to find you here.”
He’s leaning over Juno, even taller in those dizzying heels, looming like some kind of godly statue brought to life. The sight of him leaves Juno’s mouth dry, but it only makes his voice more gruff.
“Are you still in the same line of work as the last time I saw you?”
“For the most part,” Rose says lightly. “Though I’m afraid I’m not much of a nurse anymore.”
“Then I’ve got a tip for you to pass along to your buddy with the mustache.”
He leans in, close enough that Juno can smell that damn cologne.
“Ingrid Lake is planning a murder-suicide. Tonight. Midnight.”
“Do you have any evidence?”
Juno bristles. “You can’t be serious. You really don’t believe me?”
“I do,” Rose says gently. “But the dear captain will be more difficult to convince. And he can’t make any arrests without at least some kind of probable cause.”
“Since when?” Juno nearly snarls, but he manages to get his voice under control again.
“I won’t deny that it’s inconvenient,” Rose says. “But that’s just one of the rules you have to follow when you work with him. Do you have anything, Juno? Anything at all?”
Even though he towers over Juno, there’s something about the sincerity in his eyes that makes him look small and fragile. Juno knows not to let him get under his skin again, but he can’t help it.
“The art,” he says. “The stuff on the walls. It’s all stolen. Smuggled goods from the Outer Rim. Most of it’s obscure enough that you’d have a hard time tracing it, but--”
“But it’s something I can work with.” He smiles softly, gently. “Thank you, Juno.”
“Hurry up and get your evidence already.” Juno turns away so he doesn’t have to look Rose in the eye. “I don’t want to see anyone die tonight.”
------------------
By the time the police lights cast their flashing lights across the mansion’s walls, Juno is nowhere to be found.
Peter isn’t surprised that the thief has slipped away again. He is, however, caught a little off guard when he reaches for his keys and finds a slip of paper tucked into his pocket.
Just one word, scribbled in a messy hand, but it makes Peter’s heart skip a beat.
Thanks
