Jesus wasn't Palestinian you dumb heretic. Palestine didn't exist yet. The Palestinian people didn't exist yet. Read the fucking bible. Dumbass
(what anon's responding to)
This is going to sound sarcastic but i mean it genuinely: i love getting called a heretic by randos online. helps me know i'm doing some things right!
In honor of Jesus the Palestinian Jew, here's an excerpt from a sermon (which you can read / listen to in full over here) I wrote back in June on how Jesus's direct identification with those the world calls "least" in Matthew 25 empowers (and challenges) us to envision him as literally one with all who are denigrated, disenfranchised, executed by Empire — as Palestinians are today.
...In proclaiming himself not only kin with the world’s outcasts, but literally one with each and every one of them, Jesus empowers us to imagine him in ever newer, ever more expansive ways. He empowered Black theologian James Cone to declare that Christ is Black, and that every time a Black person is lynched, Christ is re-crucified with them. He empowered disability theologian Nancy Eiesland to declare that God is disabled – to envision the throne of God as a wheelchair, and to point out how the wounds with which Christ rose would have impaired his movement. He empowered gay artist Maxwell Lawton to paint Christ with AIDS lesions, and photographer Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin to depict Christ’s resurrection wounds as transgender top surgery scars. Though some have decried all these images of Christ as blasphemous, it was Jesus himself who told us that he is one with those whom the world denies food, safety, medical care, freedom, and love...
btw if anyone has other examples of theologians declaring Christ a member of a marginalized group it's my fave thing so please add on. Another great one is S. Yesu Suresh' declaration that Christ is Dalit (the "untouchable" class in India).
#also. bring in the princess bride reaction meme 'you keep using that word. i do not think it means what you think it means'#regarding 'heresy'#god with us#god of the oppressed#matthew 25

The linked blog post shares two poems by Palestinian poet Najwan Darwish connecting Christ's crucifixion to Palestine's plight.
I also share several images from other oppressed peoples' recognition of Jesus's intimate identification with all whom Empire attempts to crush.

Text to the right of this image reads, "This man subjected himself to imprisonment and probably to being shot or hanged / The prisoner used language tending to discourage men from enlisting in the United States Army" / It is proven and indeed admitted that among his incendiary statements were — thou shalt not kill and blessed are the peacemakers"

The cult of...Danny Fenton?
So! Way back when Danny first moved into his new neighborhood in Gotham, he had some trouble controlling his Powers. The different Types and Levels of Ectoplasm in the air when compared to Amity had thrown off his control.
He was used to being in places where his Ectoplasm meshed well with the Atmosphere, like a Water Balloon in a Pool, but in Gotham that analogy would be closer to a Water Balloon in the sewers. It was too different from what he was used to to fully control his Powers.
So it's understandable that he messed up a few times and his neighbors found out about his Abilities.
They took it well at first, Danny wasn't going to go Rogues or anything, and he never used them maliciously, but eventually they got curious.
They asked what his limits were, how he got them in the first place, and what the hell the Ghost Zone was. The answers "None Really", "I died and was reborn", and "A Collective of every Afterlife at once" did spark some interesting reactions from them.
Most importantly, a few of them joked about him being an Eldritch God that they needed to worship. He was good enough friends with them that at that point they felt comfortable pranking eachother, so they did just that.
Danny woke up one day on his birthday, and saw all of his friends and neighbors surrounding the makeshift Throne they had made and put him on while he was asleep. The entire day they chanted stuff like "The Great One requires Ms. Smiths Apple Pie for his day of birth!" And "The Great One Wishes for us to sing the Ritual Song! Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birth-"
After his birthday, they kept up the joke.
It didn't help that his powers had evolved Again! And now he could bestow abilities onto his friends. The jokes they made about their God granting them Supernatural Powers to rule the world with were insufferable.
Then, one day while he was just resting at home, watching a movie on his TV, he felt a Pull at his Core. The same kind of Pull whenever he was being summoned. But why would they summon hi- Oh Shit! It's Mr Jenkins Party today! He was supposed to meet them at the Warehouse they used for special events an Hour Ago!
He quickly accepted the Summoning, but was met with a suprising sight. His Neighbors all tied up in a pile to his right, a spilled table of party food to his left, and right in front of him, Batman and his Family watching him with wary eyes.
Slowly, he opened his mouth. "...so, did you come for the party or..."
#Dpxdc#Dp x dc#Dcxdp#Dc x dp#Danny Phantom#Dc#Dcu#Danny is Worshipped by a Cult#It started out as a Joke from his friends#Then he started giving them powers and they decided to take it to the next level#They told their work friends that they were in a cult now#They showed off the minor powers Danny gave them#And slowly they inducted more people into the Danny Fenton Cult (most of them knew it was a joke on a friend)(some were serious)#They were planning on using the Party to introduce Danny to all his new “Followers” and get a laugh out of it#Unfortunately the Bats hears about a new Cult forming and went to go stop it#The Cult succeeded in Summoning their God#And he's just a Guy.#Not Phantom. He's in his Human Form and looked like the most average guys you've ever seen.#The Bats eventually leave with an order to them to never Form a Cult again#The Cult feels that Batman is oppressing their right to Free Religion and begin to make the Cult even BIGGER out of Spite#Danny might need to step in soon...#...but Batman did beat up his friends...and he did technically try to revoke their right to free assembly and religion...#...Maybe he should just let this play out...

I’m so fucking tired of this stupid fucking resurgence of people arguing that misandry is real or a coherent form of oppression at all so I wanna address this more directly. Most of the arguments I’ve seen rely on the fact that men are harmed and constrained by the patriarchy, and you know what, that’s true!
But cis people are harmed and constrained by the existence of the gender binary. That doesn’t mean that cisphobia is real. Straight people are harmed and constrained by heteronormativity, but that doesn’t make heterophobia real.
I really thought this stuff was obvious but I guess it isn’t. I need all of you who are complaining about “misandry” to understand that you sound like the down with cis bus post
#transmisogny#god I’m so exhausted by this#some of you are so desperate to prove that women are oppressing you

really dislike the idea that being gender nonconforming immediately means you’re not allowed to be upset at getting misgendered… are only trans people who adhere to their gender stereotypes allowed to feel upset about something so personal? doesn’t make any sense. dressing like your agab doesn’t immediately mean you don’t deal with any trans issues ¿
#just very unnecessarily cruel#you guys are obsessed when cis ppl are gender nonconforming#god forbid a trans person does the same#what is the point of coming into a community just to say the same thing the people oppressing us say#rambles

I get that in general a lot of kids shows do utilize the protagonists ('good guys') in ways where they're supposed to be role models, particularly because some do have a "lesson of the week" where the character does bad things, then clearly learns and explains what they should've done instead by the end of the episode.
That has just... never been how TDP has operated, and I don't get how and why people think we're supposed to take what anyone does in the show as being unilaterally good or evil. Particularly in arc 2; any moral simplicity that was hanging on by a thread in arc 1 has been taken out back and shot numerous times by now.
TDP very rarely calls anything Evil or Good, and when it does, it's always filtered through the characters' biases, and rarely does more then 2-3 characters ever have the same opinion on something for the same reasons. Soren and Rayla, who have inverted character arcs, are some of the only characters to ever use the term villain / good guys or bad guys, and are two of the most staunchly black-and-white thinking characters, heavily to their detriment, I might add, in terms of coping with the increasing complexity of their lives. They have cognitive biases. They're not always right, and are frequently wrong. This is true for everyone in the show.
The show refuses to condemn murder, indirectly and directly condemns the expulsion of humans from Xadia routinely (Evrkynd being a city for everyone, Ezran arguing with Karim, who is the most wrong about the most things), and shows a variety of viewpoints on all things.
The show understands that the choices people make—whether the same character trait is a flaw or a strength—as well as 'moral' choices are all circumstantial.
Are you wrong to burn people alive? Mostly yes (2x07, 6x08) but also no (3x09). Are you wrong to kill people? Sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes whether it's 'wrong' or 'right' doesn't even factor in. Are you wrong to use dark magic, or use the dangerous Staff of Ziard, or coin someone and condemn them to a 'fate worse than death'? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Is lying or hiding the truth to protect someone wrong? Sometimes yes (1x06, 2x03, 3x03, 5x01, 7x04, 7x06) sometimes no (1x02, 2x03, 6x06, 5x08, 7x08).
Are you doing the right thing?
Do you have no choice? Is that true, or is that just what you think, or how you rationalize it yourself?
When is it right or cowardly to leave (Viren, Lissa, Rayla, Callum, Ezran, the Cosmic Council, the offer made to Karim's troops)? When should you stay? When do you decide to share resources (2x05) to your potential detriment or withhold them in the name of protecting yourself and your own people (Xadia and magic)? At what point(s) do you prioritize your own pain and grief, or someone else's (i.e. the Keeper vs Callum vs Ezran)? At what point is someone too dangerous or 'too far gone' to keep alive (Runaan about Harrow, Ezran about Aaravos)? At what point do you decide someone cannot change? When do you refuse to change (Karim, Terry) who you are no matter what happens, and when do you decide that you must (Ezran, Soren)? When is it wrong to use illusions to trick someone (3x09 and 7x06) and when is it more reasonable (2x03)? When should you be willing to sacrifice others (Rayla with her family, Runaan and Rayla with Callum, Soren with Viren) and when should you refuse? When should you sacrifice yourself, and when it is wrong to? Did you betray them, or did they betray you, or both (usually both)? When should you betray or stay loyal to your family? What is the right thing to do?
The show, tbh, doesn't know, at least 90% of the time. It's not interested in knowing. It's interested in exploring. That's the whole point. At most, it says you should work towards harm reduction, but what constitutes harm, and what peace looks like, is also something that greatly differs for all the characters.
Rayla is willing to sacrifice the love of her life, Ezran is willing to create weapons of mass destruction and wield one, and Callum used a torture spell on someone when he absolutely did not have to. The idea that any of the protagonists are meant to be paragons of unblemished virtue who are always 100% right, or that any of the antagonists do not canonically have a good point of contention with anything that's happened and are always 100% wrong, is reductive to everything the show is and explores, because it is Quite Literally not what the show does, ever tbh.
They literally spelled it out this past season as a core theme; I don't think they needed to have a character directly point it out every time a main character did something that was Kinda Fucked Up or Complicated But Understandable to know that the show knows it was Canonically Fucked Up or Complicated But Understandable.
There is not a single character or action in TDP that is always right, and there is not a singular character or action in TDP that is always wrong. Hell, even narrowing it down to "this is 'right' or 'wrong'" feels counterintuitive because it's so subjective within the narrative.
Every choice the characters make is often well reasoned, aligns with their values and world views, and fits into how they work through problems. Every choice has benefits and consequences, for them or for others. That doesn't mean it's Right for everyone involved. That doesn't mean it's Wrong for everyone involved. That's what makes the show interesting. Everything has nuance. Everything has Complexity. I'm not interested in a simplified version of TDP. I'm interested in the show as is.
I hope you are, too.
#tdp#the dragon prince#analysis series#analysis#mine#im so tired#s7 spoilers#like i truly cannot fathom watching viren walk away from claudia or the illusion plan in 7x06 and thinking#'the show wants us to think this was 100% the right thing to do no ifs ands or buts' like. what#like rayla thematically has always been an antagonist#it just always seems like ppl are like. the show doesn't know the magic system is unfair#or the cosmic council are gonna be good guys. and it's like. the show has known the magic system is unfair since s2#that's the point of s2. the cosmic council will be dismantled. they have to be. that's why they're there#it's a hand of god narrative structure. they executed a child for no reason. where else would we go#have a lil faith#'humans can do whatever they want bc they were oppressed' that's not how life & morality works#just look at world affairs (atrocities in gaza)

"Vi was the real Jinx" "No Hextech was the real Jinx" "No Jayce and Viktor were the Jinx for creating Hextech"
Arcane fans are all so fucking stupid and y'all deserve this stupid ass show. If this show had even a modicum of intelligence its thesis statement would have been that institutional oppression enacted by Piltover against Zaun was the real jinx and rot of show, finally giving rise to a monster coming to Jinx them back and be the reckoning for all their sins. Instead they give us that fuckass idiotic episode 7 that attempts to pin all the blame on Hextech and pretends like the horrible conditions of Zaun and cruelty of Piltover didn't already exist long before Jayce and Viktor cranked that damn crystal. Not only that, they go and martyr Vi which just gave the lowest bottom of the barrel members of this fandom a chance to accuse her of being the "real" jinx. This show is unserious garbage and its moronic fans deserve it.
#i thought i was done ranting about episode 7 but i'm not#it's so fucking stupid and it's maddening to see it get praised as the best episode#it was garbage. utter garbage. take off the timebomb shipping goggles and see how they brushed aside all the themes of class oppression#and pinned the entire tragedy of season 1 ON HEXTECH. because of fucking course magic was the fault of everything. magic is the Big Bad.#nothing else. definitely not the council or the enforcers. magic needs to go. not piltover.#vi isn't even my favourite character but if you accuse either her or jinx for being at fault for everything you're a fucking cretin#enjoy your garbage show. god i wish i knew how ass this series was going to be so i never would have gotten into s1#vi#jinx#ekko#jayce#viktor#arcane s2#arcane#arcane league of legends#arcane critical#arcane season 2#arcane netflix#piltover#zaun#league of legends

okay, but, like, THAT'S how you do a villain story. in the FIRST scene, you watch him shoot a man in cold blood. the show tells you right away "this man is not a good man".
but then it gets you to sympathize - look at how much the world has stepped on him. look at how terrible the whole of gotham is. and even when he kills more people, does more terrible things, you still root for him. because it's fun to watch someone be terrible to terrible people. you root for sofia too, because if anyone deserves revenge its her, but you're rooting for both of them somehow.
and then the show tells you "when he was a boy he killed his brothers". but even still, you want to see what he'll do. the show is called the penguin, you want to see the penguin rise. when he lets his mother's finger almost get cut off, you pity him. he's a sad, broken thing. how could he be anything but bad? but he loves, so there must be something else there.
but then. but THEN
the show always told you: "this is the devil". but you thought, maybe the devil can make hell a little more bearable for some people. the devil is so often nuanced, sympathetic, complex. maybe he's like that.
you're wrong. there's nothing good within him and YOU rooted for him to succeed. you wanted to watch the destruction. and now you have to live with the consequences of thinking, even for a second, that he could be redeemed.
#lauren feels things#penguin spoilers#the penguin#the penguin spoilers#network execs are always talking about how they want something#'surprising but inevitable'#which is NOTHING that's a nothing phrase#eXCEPT THIS WAS EXACTLY THAT#don't even get me started on everything else#the performances the COSTUMES!!!#the story they told with sofia's costumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!#but god#the thing that got me so good#was seeing the scratches on oz's hands as he strangled vic#just like carmine and sofia's mom#i hope sofia murders oz so bad#oh and DEF don't get me started on the POWER DYNAMICS#the conversation the show was having about power#and being a woman and being a man and being rich and being poor and being white and being disabled#and how the systems of power and oppression are not at all neat#oz is a white man born poor with a disability#but he ultimately has more privilege than sofia#sofia was born on third base and inherited her kingdom but is still a woman they called crazy#who went down for a man's crime#oz is STILL right when he calls her out for her relative privilege#they both have more power over the other depending on circumstance#and then VIC#poor non-white disabled#he gets crushed under everyone#and yet has the power of LABOR ORGANIZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fandom god discussion is interesting, but I feel it’s sometimes hindered by an unwillingness to separate gods from mortal society, or even a sort of over-eagerness to project our own reality onto them, which simply doesn’t work. I've seen the gods referred to as rulers or tyrants demanding worship (which I kinda understand because it’s something Ludinus says in-game, though it’s funny to see fandom corners confidently repeat the inaccurate talking points of the antagonist) but more interestingly I've also seen them referred to as a higher/the highest social class, as colonizers imposing themselves on mortals, the raven queen specifically as new money. Overall these comparisons tend to talk about the gods and their actions regarding Aeor in the past and predathos/the Vanguard in the present less as if they're about saving their own lives and more as if they want to preserve their powerful position.
The gods, by their very nature, are above mortals. They cannot be compared to any mortal ruling class because they didn’t choose or strive for that power and cannot feasibly get rid of it/step down/redistribute it (nor do they actually in any sense rule; killing the raven queen, unlike killing an actual queen, will not end the 'tyranny' of death), they simply have it by virtue of being gods. Saying that’s unfair or unequal and that the gods should be killed because of it is akin to saying it’s unfair a mountain is bigger than you and demanding it be levelled, except the gods, unlike mountains, are living, feeling beings who shouldn’t have to die because some people can’t stand the idea of not always being top dog. Thing is, the gods themselves ultimately understood this power imballance and that they can't help but hurt Exandria the way humans can't help but step on bugs, and thus removed themselves from the equation by creating the divine gate. Saying this isn’t enough and that they're clinging to power is just demanding they line themselves up to be killed.
#critical role#cr3#downfall#nella talks cr#ultimately all these 'ruling class' comparisons are simply flawed and don’t work when under the slightest bit of scrutiny#gods arent rulers or tyrants bc they don’t rule and can't be deposed#they are representantations and guardians of (mostly natural) concepts#and those concepts won’t go away bc you killed the gods. death and nature and the fucking sun will still remain#they aren’t colonizers of mortals (wtf lmao) who demand they be worshiped and mortals live according to their oppressive rule#again did you watch calamity? not even before the divine gate did the gods demand worship or even respect#they were never less respected than during the age of arcanum and still they were just chilling#(until someone released the betrayers and they had to step in to stop the ultimate destruction of exandria)#technically you could argue they were colonizers against the titans but even that feels like a stretch#the titans to me feel less like people and more like representations of the chaotic and deathly side of nature#being angry they were killed sounds like being angry someone stopped a hurricane just bc the hurricane was there first#I'm sorry but that hurricane would've flattened you. it wouldn’t appreciate your support bc it isn't a person#and 'a higher social class' fucking NEW MONEY? this is just blatant projection#I'm sorry but not everything more powerful than you is a stand in for oppression#sometimes it’s a narrative stand in for nature and i promise nature isn't oppressing you

Im soooo weak to when Bond is like casually being used or exploited at his expense for some ostensible Greater Good except the situation doesn't HAVE to come to that, not really, and he's so inured and even numb to it that he barely pays it any mind; meanwhile, Q absolutely minds and is very indignant on his behalf and works overtime to like either try to avert or forestall the situation before it gets to the point where Bond has to dig his own claws into more of his soft underbelly to offer up on the sacrificial alter of politics of all tawdry things, or to manufacture a way in which he does the needless "needful" so as to spare Bond at least one unnecessary additional wound upon his psyche.
bonus if Bond finds out and maybe after being angry or indignant about it - I don't need you to do my job for me, Q, this is what I'm here to do - and either Q tells him/lets slip or he deduces that like, this isn't Q thinking he can't get the job done, this is Q finding him precious and worthy of protecting, and like. he's just very in awe of that and does in fact feel very safe and cherished within the cradle of his Quartermaster's regard
#00q#of like... yes it's constant surveillance. but also it's like. constantly having a companion & constantly having an all-seeing eye#looking out for you and reaching out to influence your life#I'd imagine it's very like religion (*puts a Bond thought bubble on this*)#it's the Take Me to Church-ism of it all#lmao I didn't start this off as a web-weaving but now I'm weaving it into a web#but yeah in this fic - looked it up it's Playing the Part - this other rando agent is like. is he in your ear rn? the Quartermaster?#and the guy is like. I don't know how you handle it‚ being under his watch all the time. I know he's supposed to be your guardian angel but#I hope I never come to his attention‚ I don't want him to care enough to know a thing about me.#and it's sooo so interesting in the context of Q and this like. pathological need for omniscience we often assign him#cuz yeah it COULD be very oppressive and overbearing#but like. I think it complements Bond's Ambiguous Disorders a lot bc it WOULD read to Bond as Caring#like so much of his life doesn't belong to himself anyway so a lot of the puppeting is old hat#but what a novelty to have someone who does it not because they want something from him or because of what he can do for them#but because they care so deeply about *him* as to want to do right by him and look out for his well-being#also sidebar'ing back but like there's a lot stupid about Business English but 'do the needful' is probably one of if not THE dumbest thing#I've ever heard or seen in my life. like. absolute epitome of garbage bullshit bureaucracy-speak nonsense and I know I'm getting into dicey#territory cuz despite whatever origin it may have had it's seen more today as an Indianism. but still like in and of itself it's such#a dumb phrase. and speaks to such a height of bureacracy & it's like. you don't have to say it like that. there are other words you can use#okay anyway. back to 00q#somehow I've brought this into 'blasphemy but make it sexy. as a treat' lmao but yeah... Q as Bond's wrathful & jealous God....#WAIT another web weaving. Ulysses when Bond is like. no not a guardian angel. Q is his patron deity his household god. mm yes *chefs kiss*

Listening to some podcasts it's wild to me to hear people bearing down some of Taylor's actions like she wasn't doing those things to ACTUAL DESPICABLE PEOPLE.
I just hate the purity culture of it all, like, are yall really criticizing someone for not going easy on NAZIS, SLAVE OWNERS, ABUSERS etc??? Boohoo, poor them
"Aw, Taylor rotted Lung's junk off / took his eyes out" GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE, it's ON TEXT that this asshole enslaving a bunch of vulnerable people and putting them to absurd hardships.
"Aw, she cut Bakuda's toes" Toes she was using to MELT FUCKING PEOPLE.
"Aw, she bullied Panacea and Glory Girl" ............. please --'
"Aw, she punched Emma in the mall, not very hero of her" She should've done worse to this bitch who caused her fucking trigger
FUCK YALL, honestly
Victims are ALWAYS blamed for reacting, for doing something
Tolerating the intolerable is NOT THE ANSWER.
Taylor isn't any less of a hero for not taking it easy on DESPICABLE PEOPLE.
She's only less of a hero when going hard on a bunch of people who didn't deserve it, but people bitch and moan way more about her actions towards WORSE VILLAINS than innocents. Seriously, annoying as SHIT
#worm#worm web serial#wormblr#taylor hebert#parahumans#for the love of christ what is wrong with yall#imagine being mad that she isint fighting back against gangs with inspiring words and butterflies#taylor has a lot of flaws but what people get more latched on as NOT FLAWS AT ALL#this christian mentality needs to die in fandoms#god please keep the christian purity away from my fucking life#some of yall havent experienced what is like being oppressed or a minority and IT SHOWS
