nate is a known advocate for therapy. he’s been seeing a sports therapist since 2017

they wear matching clothing all the fucking time, sid has said publicly that he started wearing white sneakers and updated his wardrobe due to nate’s influence (iirc nate might’ve even bought him his first pair of white sneakers? either that or it was a “he told me i need to so i did” situation). they share a tailor. unfortunately i now have to bring your attention to the fact that since they have an alarming amount of matching clothes that they’ve bought for each other, that means that they in fact have to know each other’s clothing sizes off by heart. they also low-key share clothing btw

nate used to have a fan twitter account more or less where he rooted for the pens. it was active until 2017.

sid and nate regularly go to summer weddings together as each other’s dates. they have done this since, once again, at least 2015

nate has confirmed that he used to have a poster of sid on his wall as a teenager (he didn’t confirm he used to jerk off to it but frankly. i think that’d be saying the quiet part out loud)

when sid won the cup in 2009 and held the parade in cole harbour, nate stood by the side of the road watching it. he was about to turn 14, he was already working with sid’s trainer and agent, and he was about to start attending shattuck (sid’s junior high). due to old pics we also know that this was RIGHT before nate had his first growth spurt and hit puberty. i’m not saying seeing sid with the cup kickstarted nate’s puberty and gave him his first boner but i’m not NOT saying it

steve looks just as horrified as you feel, picking at the pieces of kfc chicken on his plate.

“well, it’s steve for one… and we started dating a few weeks ago.” he emphasizes the word dating, much to your brothers annoyance.

“so why keep it so secretive?”

you shoot a glare your brother’s way, and he just grins back as he takes a big bite of chicken. god, he was insufferable.

the doorbell ringing cuts you off, and your dad sighs, “now who could that be?”

“i’ll get it!” your brother hops up from his seat with a mouthful of food and all but races to the front door.

“so, a few weeks, huh? that’s exciting, honey!” your mother’s attempt to lighten the situation is sweet but it doesn’t dispel the tension in the room.

a tension that only intensifies when your real boyfriend waltzes in the dining room with your brother in tow. eddie meets your gaze, his dark eyes hardening as he takes in the sight of you next to steve.

“sorry to interrupt, sid didn’t tell me you were in the middle of dinner.”

you can tell from the tightness in his jaw that he’s pissed, which is exactly why you told him to avoid coming by your place tonight. but clearly he didn’t want to listen.

“we work together, at family video. right, stevie?” you turn to look at him with a smile, but he can clearly read your nerves behind it.

“right, we somehow wound up in one of those friends to lovers scenarios… but i wouldn’t trade what we have for anything.”

steve’s eyes shine when they meet yours, lips pulling up in a warm smile as he gently squeezes your hand. though you definitely didn’t have those kinds of feelings for steve, his touch was comforting nonetheless. you let yourself get lost in his eyes for a moment, really trying to play it up.

“how romantic.” sid all but sneers.

“it really— ouch!” steve winces, and you immediately glance across the table towards eddie.

he has an innocent grin on his face while he piles some mashed potatoes on his plate, but you can see right through it.

“sorry ‘bout that, harrington. foot slipped.”

y/ndevils00 hi, people are more than a little confused and beginning to get suspicious and i’ve even seen a few baseless rumors about me floating around, so i’d like to clear the air;

to most people, this is ✨Sidney Crosby✨, the 1st overall pick of the 2005 draft, and captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

to me, this is my older cousin, Sid (or Father Sid, as i like to call him, but he says that makes him feel old… as it should, because he is.)

i haven’t been extremely open about my relation to Sid, particularly because: do you know how many embarrassing stories this man has to tell about me? but also because i’ve never wanted people to look at me any differently. i’m just y/n, and to me, this is just Sid.

but i’m about to get a little mushy. for as long as i can remember, Sidney has been my rock, my best friend, and my protector. a little fun fact for you guys, i moved in with Sidney when i was 14. sick of life in Cole Harbour, and missing my Sid, i attended high school in Pittsburgh. i did homework at Pens practices, i played high stakes games of old maid with Geno, and i got grounded by Sid for sneaking out (and usually got ungrounded by the next day because… who can stay mad at THIS face?). Sid was the first person i told about thinking of going into social media management in the NHL, and he was also the one who told me to go after my dreams and never let anyone tell me i couldn’t.

when i was born, Sidney, at 14, immediately took his role as big cousin a step further. in his eyes, i wasn’t just his little cousin, but a second sister. and 22 years later, he says i’m the reason for his gray hairs (you’re welcome!). i couldn’t have asked for a better cousin, big brother, and father figure all wrapped up in one.

“And stay out.” Your voice was stern, laced with anger. You glared at the mafia head that disrespected your meeting. “Your business is no longer needed with us, imp.”

He hissed, “Whatever bitch. Your loss. You’ll soon realize this decision of yours was a mistake.” He got up, dusting himself off as he glared at you. You glared at him back, your demon form on the verge of exploding out.

“Get out of my sight before I take your head. You better hope I never see you again because next time, I’m displaying your skull on my wall. And that’s a promise.” Your voice distorted as you pointed your angelic spear to his throat, cutting him slightly. He backed down, shaking slightly as he ran off. You pulled your spear aside and huffed. “The nerve of that little shit.”

Vox put his hand on your shoulder, the touch immediately calming you down. “I’ll keep eyes on him, make sure he doesn’t try to put a hit on you.” He beamed with pride at your display of power, “Come on, let’s go back in.”

Your spear vanished as well as your demon form, reverting back to your usual self. “I will squish him the next time I see him I swear to god!” You screamed. Vox held your waist, pulling you close as you two walked over to his office.

“If he’s in the area, I’ll make sure to get him up here for you babe.” He grinned at you.

You smiled at him, “You know exactly how to make me happy, Vox.” You gave him a quick peck on his lips.

“That was hot as fuck though.” He winked.

“Oh hush it! You say that every time you see me in my demon form. Remember when I almost killed you?” You laughed, “You faced a second death and what did you say?”

He laughed with you, “I think I said ‘Holy shit you’re hot.’ or something along those lines.”

“Insane. Threw me off guard and saved your life. Glad you said it though.”

The two of you entered his office. He sat on his chair and you sat on top of him with no hesitation. “You really gotta get me my own chair here.”

“Hmm…No. You have a seat right here.” He flirted to which you rolled your eyes.

“I guess that’s true.” You rest your head on his chest as you watch him tap away at his computer. “So what’s the agenda?”

“Nothing. That was the last one for the day and it looks like he already left.” He sent a message out to block any future business with him and you sent a message to Carmilla to make sure he can’t get any weapons from her either, completely blacklisting him from her company. She happily obliged considering you were a close friend of hers and helped her greatly during her rise in power.

“And I just blacklisted him from Carmilla’s company. That little shit isn’t getting any angelic weapons anytime soon.” You laughed.

“That’s my girl.” He smiled at you. You two share a passionate kiss before getting interrupted by Valentino slamming his door open.

“Vox! You won’t fucking believe wh-Oh! Am I interrupting something?” He grinned and leaned up against the doorway. “Can I stay and watch?” He winked.

You glare at him even though he probably couldn’t see your expression. You threw a stapler at him which Valentino dodged last minute. “Fuck off! We’re having a moment! Come back later!” He ran out, slamming the door behind him. “And no you can’t watch! Gross.”

“Oh the headaches you save me from.” He held you close to him, his arms wrapped around your waist.

“Anything for you, baby.” You grabbed his hand to kiss it, “I’ll kill for you, you just say the word.”

His ego was filled to the brim knowing he had you by his side, willing to do anything he asked of you with no hesitation. You and him were on par with each other in power but in terms of fighting, you had the advantage. You had more experience fighting considering you had to work hard and kill anyone in your way to become an overlord, even almost killing Vox when he met you. He came to save Valentino from getting killed because he tried to force you into becoming one of his girls. Your patience already ran thin so when he asked you more than 3 times, you nearly squashed him. Vox came to save him of course and your love blossomed from thereon out.

He loves watching your angry fits, even sitting back with some popcorn as you killed an entire gang of sharks that tried to force themselves on you once. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t intimidated by your power. You weren’t afraid of speaking up for yourself and you most certainly will do anything to have people listen to you. Any demon would be doomed to die if they ever looked down upon you for anything. There were times that he spoke back to you and he found it attractive whenever you’d assert yourself on him. He was as power hungry as you were. But if you were the power? He was starving. He craved you more when you showed power but he never wanted to admit it in the bedroom.

“You know I love it when you’re assertive. It’s so hot.” He whispered into your ear. Shivers went down your spine at his deep voice, triggering something inside of you.

“Yeah?” You turned, straddling him, “I bet you’d love it if I did that to you in private, hm?” You smiled, slightly grinding on the tent in his pants.

“Mmm. I don’t know, baby. Would I?” He smiled up at you, a teasing tone evident in his voice.

You kissed him, tongues intertwining and curling around each other. You were both out of breath by the time the two of you pulled away. He was about to get up to take you to his room but you stopped him. “No.” You said, your hand on his chest, “Stay. And lock the door while you’re at it.” You smirked at him. He nodded and with a flick of his finger, his door was locked. Before you two could get it on in his office, you both heard something behind the door.

“Fuck! You guys didn’t have to fucking lock it!” Valentino yelled, his voice muffled behind the door. The two of you laughed in response before averting your attention back to each other.

“Now. I think I have some…anger to let out.” You grabbed him by his collar and dragged him over to the couch, pushing him down on it. “And record this for yourself, baby.” You winked.

“Yes ma’am.”

He’d be lying if he wasn’t going to beg for you to dominate him more after that night.

I feel so yucky today. Just physically disgusting. Tummy is upset, queasy and crampy. My ankles are stiff and sore. My eyes are tired. I know I need to eat and take a shower and I will feel better then but I just want to lie in bed. But I can't sleep/nap. I'm lonely even though my boyfriend is here because it's a different kind of lonely.

Fancy is being very loving. I don't know how she's feeling. She seemed to be off last night, a bit subdued. She hasn't been crying much, though, or been especially clingy. She is playful and wants treats but isn't quite as brattily bubbly.

Today we got her and Sid a suite of new toys to enjoy and distract them. Figure y'all wouldn't mind if we spent money y'all donated for Raleigh food on that. And he would approve.

Sid and Fancy are both very playful cats, which is great. Hopefully Sid will feel better on this new food soon and will feel like playing again soon. We played last night with me just moving the toy around for him to watch and paw at a couple of times. It's still stimulation for them to do that.

Fancy of course tore around and fought god (played by a worm on a string). She rarely halfasses anything, especially murder games. She puts her whole, enormous ass into it. I remember when her hind legs were weak and we were worried she'd never jump normally. She got so strong! I'm so proud of her. I'm so sorry she's lost half her clowder. I tried to save them, I truly did.

I'm rambling. This has been so tiring. The last time I did grief this big was in 2011 and it didn't follow a long illness or stressful period. It was just a severing, very sudden, and a thing there was no chance of treating. Brutal but not as draining as this was. And I was 13 years younger. God.

But I'm alive and things are still going on around me regardless and I'll be okay again someday. I know that. So I'll sit through this and just feel everything while it lasts.

And I'll cuddle my babies and you should cuddle yours.

It's possible. But if the Horrorterrors do have a way to trick the Alpha Timeline like that, then they've really been holding out on us by not mentioning it to the Players. Such a revelation would completely change the game - we might even be able to fake the Earth's death.

Absolutely! I've got two separate answers for you, depending on what your goal is here.

If your main goal is just to analyse Homestuck, then you’re probably best off picking a language whose syntax is easy to understand, such as Python. You'll pick up on the basic logic pretty quickly, and the ~ATH snippets will start to make a lot more sense.

If you’re actually interested in programming for its own sake, then I recommend you start with my own first language, C. It’s a lot harder for a newbie to get to grips with, but doing so will give you a much more solid theoretical foundation then ostensibly ‘easier’ languages.

W3schools is a decent starting resource for both languages - but if you need more specific guidance, let me know, and I'd be happy to help!

That certainly makes sense if we just look at John - but I have trouble reconciling this interpretation with our other Heir. Equius certainly has some advantages, but they aren't exactly unique to him, as you'd expect them to be if his Heir class was responsible for them.

Yes, he's a highblood, but he's outranked by three non-Heirs - and his strength doesn't seem to be unique either, as Feferi seems capable of similar feats. Perhaps Equius will trip and fall into more unique privilege, but it hasn't happened yet.

Having a child in your late twenties seemed normal right? Yeah. Having a baby daddy that sadly missed the birth of his first child? God the guilt he feels for missing a majority of the pregnancy. Give the poor man a break. 

Simon 'Ghost' Riley was a military man with mountains and mountains of trauma on him, the first time he was told he was going to be a father, he felt like he was gonna breakdown. Not wanting to be like that abusive piece of shit, he swore he'd be better, starting a couple of self help exercises, reading a lot of baby books, he probably knew more about the pregnancy than you. 

But it's been a couple years since then. Giving birth to a beautiful baby girl, small complications that are now there for life and a little chunky, but still absolutely beautiful. Leslie Christina Riley was the name gifted to her. Your black hair, Simon's hazel/green eyes, and his small crooked nose. A perfect mix of the two of you.

As for right now, you were waiting for your daughter to exit out of her elementary gate, "mommy!!" "Baby!!" You both squealed before you picked her up and swung her around before kissing her head softly. "How was school hon?" You asked as your hand went to fix her hair as the other held her on your hip. 

"It was sooo good mommy!" She began to talk as your legs made way to the car where Simon was hiding from her, a surprise that he was home for her. "I got invited to a sleep over at Juliana's house, it's for Friday!" She told as she rested her head on your shoulder. 

A sleepover? Of course you've met Juliana's mother before but a sleepover at five and six year old? Not that big of a fan for this idea. "Mm I'll think about if you can go okay love?" You spoke softly. Not wanting to explain that there are bad people in the world, exposing your five year old to it. "Okay mommy." She muttered.

As you opened the back car door, she climbed in the car seat , buckled herself in, then grabbed her invite from Juliana's mother to hand it to you. 

"Rah!" Simon growled as he went to tickle her, immediate giggles leaving her mouth. "Wait... DADDY!" She screamed as she realized that it was her loving father. "Yeah, hi little love." He kissed her head. 

You got in the car and started driving, Simon staying in the backseat, listening to your daughter talk about school and the sleepover. 

20 minutes later

Having made it safely home, all three of you, including Riley were outside. Riley and Leslie were playing around in the backyard as you and Simon sat on the patio. "Soo her sleepover.. are you gonna let her go?" Simon asked as your eyes were trained on Leslie. "I don't know.. because I want her to go but what if something bad happens to her? She's five Si.. she doesn't know how to defend herself and she can't defend herself if she wanted to..!" You stressed.

When Leslie was born—she was a very weak baby, you were in the hospital for a month before you were finally let back home with your small baby. Fearing SIDS would take into place, you and Simon lost sleep over her. Thank whatever lord is above that it never happened.

"Yeah yeah, Riley no getting into the roses, mama's told you that." He scolded as Leslie sat infront of you. "Love, explain to her on what we were talking about okay?" He kissed your shoulder and Leslie's head as he picked up Riley with ease so he could go give her a bath. 

"Babydoll come here..." you said softly, grabbing Leslie's hand as she stood infront of you then climbed in your lap so you two were face to face. "You know how you got invited to Juliana's sleepover?" 

She nodded and hummed softly, "I know you wanna go but it's scary for mommy.." 

"Why?"

"Because mommy can't protect you there, you know how I always protect you and daddy protects all of us, even Riley protects and helps daddy when you and I can't be there with him."

"But mommy I'll be okay.. Juliana's mommy will protect me at there." She tried to convince you. 

"But baby what if someone comes in and takes you? You can go baby but it scares me, it scares daddy too. I know Juliana's mommy can help you but for us it's scary. We trust you so much mama but it's other people in the world." I tried to explain to her, frowning as I noticed her eyes tearing up. “Please don’t cry hon.. you can still go but I want you to know that sometimes you can’t go okay?” I wiped her chubby cheeks. 

Leslie nodded before she turned to Simon, “daddy are you gonna cry?” She asked him with a small tease. “Nah, too strong for that..” he teased her back, “just like you’re too small to have a boyfriend!” He playfully scolded her about the little boy who had a crush on her.

Opening the door to your apartment you didn’t expect to see a pair of shoes at the entrance. You furrow your eyebrows in confusion as you stare at them almost missing the smell in the air. Quietly taking off your shoes and slipping into your house slippers you carefully make your way into the apartment peaking your head around the corner to the kitchen area. There is a man over the stove with his back towards you and your eyes widen in terror. How the hell did this person get into your place? You go to yell out to them when they turn their head to the side and you instantly recognise your best friend's side profile.

Your shoulders relax and a sigh leaves your lips “Oh my god you scared the shit out of me.” you say.

Wooyoung looks back from his place at the stove with a smile overcoming his face. “Welcome home!” he greets.

Placing your work bag onto the dining table you work to take off your coat. “I thought you said you were coming back next week?” you ask. Wooyoung had been on tour for the past few months. A tour which the both of you have been very excited about because he had been able to go to more countries. He loves to travel and learn about other cultures. It’s a trait that you really admire in him.

You watch as he focuses on the food which he is preparing. “Yeah I wanted to surprise you which is why I said I was coming back next week. I missed my best friend so I was thinking we will have dinner and catch up on everything that I missed while I was gone.” he explains and you nod.

“Alright well I’m gonna shower. Be right back.” Leaving Wooyoung in the kitchen you make your way down the hallway and into the bathroom to freshen up. By the time you are back the table is set up with food. “Where do you want me to start?” you ask taking a seat at the table.

Wooyoung opens a bottle of soju pouring into two different glasses. “What is going on with Jia and Tayong? Last I heard the engagement is off?” his eyebrows furrowed in curiosity.

Taking a sip from your glass you hum. “Okay so we need to take it real back for the full story. So you remember they got engaged right before Tayong had gone on that business trip a few months ago. Well, it turns out that he cheated while on that business trip!”

Wooyoung’s mouth hangs open in shock “Are you serious?! Tayong cheated?” he squealed out.

Nodding your head, taking a bite of the meat Wooyoung cooked. “Yes but that's not even the part that is crazy. So you know like a few months ago that Jia’s cousin moved in with them cause she needed a place to stay while she was apartment hunting. Well turns out she knew Tayong even before that happened.” you jested

His eyebrows narrow “Does she know the girl he cheated on?” he questions. I nod my head and Wooyuong crosses his leg placing an arm on the table leaning on it. “Who is it?” Leaning back into the chair you cross one of your legs over the other soju cup in hand while taking a drink. He observes your facial expressions and you can see the moment in clicks in his head. His eyes widen and a scream escapes his mouth slamming his hand onto the table. “Shut the fuck up! No? No!” All you do is nod. “That bitch! How did Jia find out though?” he inquires.

You place the glass back on the table. “They got fucking cocky and were fucking in the house! She came home and saw them. So the engagement is off and both sides of the family are in an uproar right now. It’s full on war.” you state. “And the fucking audacity of Tayong to come and be like ‘Baby please forgive me it meant nothing it was a mistake’ give me a fucking break.”

“You fucking cheated on your fiance with her cousin! Why is it when they are cheating it’s not a mistake but as soon as they get caught it is full of dramatics.” Wooyoung rolls his eyes with a sigh.

“I would fucking be in jail right now if it was me.” you blurt out.

“Okay dail it back I’m a public figure here cant bail you out and have my reputation fucked.” he takes a spoonful of rice into his mouth.

You tilt your head to the side “You wouldn't bail me out if I killed my cheating fiance?” you questioned. Wooyoung doesn't answer, just takes another bite out of his meal. “You’d let me rot in jail you bitch!?” You scoffed.

Silence takes over the table before you both burst out into laughter. “Let's be honest, I'm in there with you. We can get San or Yeosang to bail us out.” The image of Yeosang and San bailing you both out of jail makes you laugh.

We continued to go over all the drama which Wooyoung had missed while on tour until we both finished off our plates and moved over to the couch. Wooyoung tells you about all the countries he went to and everything he did while on tour. You both stay up late into the night talking about everything before going to sleep.

It's been two years since I'd left Woodsboro. I couldn't just stay there after what happened with Stu, so when my parents divorced and my mom decided to move to the City, it was the perfect escape route.

The night we broke up, he invited me over to his house and sat me down in his living room.

"Stu, I can't be out past six on a school night. My dad's gonna freak"

"Alright then, I'll make this quick" he says,

As I nod.

"We're done"

His words making my heart sink in my chest.

"What?"

"Look, you're a sweet girl and all, but, we're just too...different", he explained,

"But Stu, we've been going out for months"

I could feel the tears in my eyes begin to gather and threaten to spill.

Eventually, during my senior year, I was forced to go back, when my mom got a job offer in London.

Walk past him like I didn't notice? Yell and scream? Too many questions and not enough time to even begin processing possible answers.

Once I finished my breakfast, I bid my father goodbye and made my way to the car. Within the next ten minutes of driving through town, I reach the parking lot and got out. Even just the sight of the school building knocked the air out of my lungs.

I hesitantly picked up my backpack, locked the doors and started walking towards the main entrance.

"No fucking way", I hear a girl's voice coming from the water fountain.

I turn to see who it was and there they were. My old group of friends.

"Tatum"

"(Y/N)!", she greets,

Running up and pulling me into a tight squeeze.

"Oh my god! When the hell did you get back?", she asks,

Pulling away.

"A week ago. I moved back since my mom got a job offer in London"

"And you didn't tell me?!"

"Surprise?"

She laughs and pulls me back into another hug. Just then, I see the rest of the group approaching us. Their eyes wide like they'd just seen a ghost.

"Woah!", Randy exclaimned,

Catching my attention.

"I guess the city really does do a person good", he joked,

Looking me up and down.

"Hi, Randy", I chuckle,

Giving him a hug.

"Sid, Billy", I greet,

Pulling them into a joint embrace. All that was left was-

"(Y/N)...it's been a while"

"Yeah", I nervously exhale,

Seeing him felt like someone plunging a knife into my chest and twisting it in to make it hurt. How could he be so okay, when I was still trying to recover from what happened?

"You look great", he compliments,

As I nod. What was I supposed to say to that?

Thankfully, by the grace of some god watching over me, we heard the first bell ring.

"I should get to English Lit"

"I have the class too, come on", Sidney let me know,

"Yeah sure, see you guys at lunch", I bid goodbye,

Before giving Stu one last look.

I didn't what to do. I obviously wasn't over what happened, but it's far too late to do anything about it now. I should be over it.

"(Y/N)?"

And it's not like he was thinking about it either. I was more than certain of that with how he ended things. So casual and cold, but...I couldn't help but think about how he looked at me today. Maybe I was just imagining things-

"(Y/N)", Sidney pulls me out of my thoughts,

"Sorry, what?"

"I was asking you about the assignment. Are you okay? You were totally spaced out", she questions,

"I'm just a little tired. I didn't get that much sleep"

"Something on you mind?"

Well, I was still not over my ex, who so happens to be apart of our very close-knit friend group and I don't think I ever will be, which’ll probably over-complicate things later down the road...but obviously I couldn't just spew all of that on her.

"I guess I just miss my mom, you know? She's might as well be on the god-damn moon", I tried to play off,

"Yeah, I get that feeling", she says,

Causing my eyebrows to quirk in confusion.

"Oh, you didn't hear"

"Hear what?"

"My mom passed. Cancer", she says,

As her eyes begin to weld with tears.

"Sid, I'm so sorry"

"You didn't know, it's fine", she reassured,

"Wow, I really did miss a lot", I say to myself,

"Yeah, but!", she takes my hands into hers.

"You're here now! We'll make new memories"

Yeah...we.

STU'S P.O.V.

It was really weird seeing her again. Not like a bad weird, just...kinda caught me off guard.

She was just as, if not more, beautiful than I remembered. Everything from the top of her head to the soles of her feet were nothing short of perfect.

God, I really screwed that up. I knew I brought this upon myself, so I had no right to blame anyone else, but of course it still sucked. There was so much I could've said and even more I should've said, but I didn't have the guts. I mean, how could I? After what I did?

Just as I was about to start spiraling, I was hit in the face with a crumpled up piece of paper.

"Dude"

"Don't dude me, you were thinking about (Y/N)"

"I wasn't"

"Don't give me that shit, you totally were", Billy calls out my bluff,

Making me sigh to myself.

"Thought you said you ended things with her?", he emphasized,

"I did"

"So? Why the emotional blue balls, then?"

Thankfully, the lunch bell saved me from any more of Billy's harassment.

"Look, just drop it, alright? I'm fine", I played off,

Grabbing my bag and heading out, with Billy trailing close behind me.

"No, you're not fine"

"Well, if you're such an expert on how I really feel, then why don't you just spell it out for me?"

"My theory? You lied about why you ended things"

The moment he said that, I felt my heart drop to my stomach.

"Yeah, sure"

"Come on, Stu. Things were going so great and you just pulled a whole one eighty. If you ain't gonna tell me, then who will you tell?", he questions,

Just as we were about to reach the table where the gang was.

"Shhh, shut the fuck up", I warned,

Taking a seat.

YOUR P.O.V.

"So, remember the guy I was spilling about?", Tatum asked,

Taking a bite of her pizza slice.

"You mean Dave?", Sid questioned,

"I thought you were talking about Ethan", I say,

With confusion laced in my words. As we saw one of Tate's eyebrows raise, it triggered the realization to sink in.

"Nice!", I encouraged,

Causing Tate to chuckle at me. Before we could delve any deeper into Tatum's rollercoaster love life, the guys take a seat right across from us.

"Hey girls"

"Hi, Randy", we all greet in unison,

"Billy, Stu", Tate addresses on our behalf.

To call this whole interaction awkward would've been the understatement of the millennium.

I go to grab a napkin and as I did, I felt a familiar hand brush against mine. It brought me right back to freshman year, when Stu first asked me out.

I was eating lunch, while doing my assignments, when a particularly tall shadow blocks the cafeteria's light, causing me to look up.

"Hi"

"Hey, Macher, what's up?", I ask,

"Nothin much, this seat taken?"

"Um, no. Go ahead", I gesture to the empty bench across from me.

"So, we've never really spoken outside of Chem"

"We have not"

"Why is that?', he questions,

"Uh...", I wondered,

Looking around.

"I don't actually know", I chuckle nervously,

"Well, I just wanted to let you know that they're showing Return Of The Living Dead 3 on Friday and word around the hallways says you're kind of a horror movies connoisseur, so-"

"Are you asking me out on a date?", I squinted suspiciously,

"I mean, yeah", he confirmed,

"Why?"

Making him laugh to himself.

"Why not?", he questioned after calming down,

"I mean, you're cute and sweet and...you gave me the answers to the math quiz last week", he added,

As I scoffed.

"So, this is a pity ask?", I challenged.

His eyes go wide in shock.

"No no no no no, this isn't...I didn't mean to make it seem that way, I was kidding-", he rambled nervously,

Before I cut him off with a laugh.

"I'm messing with you, Macher. I know what you meant", I reassured,

Watching him sigh in relief.

"You have a twisted sense of humor"

"Oh, you don't know the half of it"

He laughs and takes my hand.

"So...whatta ya say?"

I rip my hand away, standing up.

"I need to go", I rushed,

Taking my backpack and practically sprinting out of the cafeteria.

"(Y/N)!", Tatum called out,

Going to follow me, when Stu stops her.

"I'll go"

"Stu-"

"I have to do this", he tells Billy,

Before chasing after me. I made it down the hallway, about to reach the front doors, when I hear him.

"(Y/N)!", he yells,

Causing me to stop in my tracks. It was getting harder and harder to fight against the tears that were threatening to spill.

"Can we please talk?", he pleaded,

Whilst I turned to face him.

"What do you want?"

"I came to make sure you were ok-"

"No, Stu, what do you want? From me?", I emphasized.

His eyebrows knitting in confusion as a result.

"Look, I never got to say what I wanted to back then, but I'm saying it now. You fucking hurt me", I spit bitterly,

As the tears began to stream down my face.

"Okay? You break up with me like it was nothing and what? Expected me to just be fine?"

"(Y/N)-"

"No! You don't get to talk!", I yell.

He takes a step back and keeps his eyes on the ground.

"I thought you cared about me"

"I did"

"No, you didn't"

"I did-"

"You didn't! Someone who cares about me would never fucking do that!", I sobbed,

"I'm so sorry", he whispered,

As I shake my head, angrily wiping my tears away.

"I was a coward"

"Yeah, no shit"

"Please...just...hear me out", he begged,

"And if you still want nothing to do with me after what I have to say...I'll leave you alone"

Just wanting to get this over with, I give in and cross my arms.

"I know I hurt you and for that, I'm sorry", he mumbles,

"But there's something I never told you. The reason why I did what I did"

What could he possibly say to change my mind?

"I loved you", he admitted.

It felt like my heart stopped. He'd never said those words to me before, so to hear them in past tense only added insult to injury.

"I never thought I'd feel that way about someone, so when I did, it scared the hell outta me. I didn't know what to do, so I did the only thing I knew how to. I ran", he added,

Had I known, I wouldn't have felt so blindsided.

"Why didn't you say anything?", I sniffled,

"What was I supposed to say? That I was afraid to love you?"

"Yes! God, it would've been better than just leaving me out to dry! Stu, I loved you too! We could've talked about it, we could've done something!"

My voice echoed through the hallways.

"You loved me?", his words coming out as a surprised mutter,

"So fucking much", I answered.

Just then, Tatum, Sidney, Billy and Randy came around the corner. I could see Tatum trying to make her way to me and Billy blocking her from doing so.

"And seeing you again just...reopened all those old wounds"

"(Y/N)", he says,

Cupping my face.

As hard as it was for me to admit, him holding me like this made my heart skip a beat.

"I can't change what happened...but what I can do is this"

He leans in and presses his lips against mine.

The world disappeared around us and time came to a screeching halt. Was this all just a dream? Was I gonna wake up in my bed, disappointed that none of this ever happened? Or had the weight of carrying this pain around finally crush me? I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around what was happening, much less answer all the questions I had.

He eventually pulls away and those baby blues eyes poured into mine with a new found need.

"I let you go once...I can't do that again", he whispers.

a July rec list

I read a truly absurd amount of fanfic in July, and since I’m tracking my fic reading anyway these days, I figured, why not pull up some faves. I’ll do my best to tag authors when and where I can! I’ll throw some commentary in there to talk about why I like some of them, but rest assure this is a rec list and I think every one of them has something to love.

But they’d like to be.

First of all, I am RPF’ing these people real hard in some private chats. But largely, I like the characterization happening here, and the little turn of understanding that happens in the last third of the fic.

There’s some great, great plotting and characterization here but/also I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve read a fic and known immediately that the author is Black. That’s obviously not a requirement of the fic I write but it's nice to have Southern Black characters really sound like people I’ve known/grown up around etc.

I really feel like there’s been an explosion of excellent Draco/Harry/Ron all of a sudden. One of my qualms with a lot of polyship fics is that it's very uhhh “we must do everything together” and I really love that this fic breaks that down and allows everyone to have histories and experiences together as dyads and all together. 

In Our Blood

I’m not even going to bullshit y’all. This fic reminded me why I love mpreg. Excellent use of body horror, body dread, suspense, all these things. Also, an mpreg fic that remembers abortion is a thing. Amazing!

Probationary Action

I’ve been obsessed with toomuchplor since Inception and this fic reminded me why. I don’t love Auror!Harry fic (truly, just so much unchecked, delighted writing about police brutality) but I do like any fic where Harry starts to wake up to the fact that maybe just because they’re “the good guys”, not every choice made by the Aurors/Wizarding Gov’t in general is right. Also, I appreciate the expansion on the idea of sex charms!
