If u want like- Idk, make them ""yours"" in some sorta way, THE MAX U CAN DO is create ur own variation of the canon character, like giving em so many headcanons that they technically become ur OC. Why? Cuz this way itll be smtng more personal that YOU made and therefore u'll have the right to state ur boundaries whenever ppl wanna use YOUR version, but it surely does not mean u own the CANON character cuz of that If u dont wanna do that, then deal with the fact that they dont belong to you and make ur peace with it to continue having fun in an environment u love /lh

Its just like creating an AU! Some ppl state boundaries because its a personal project, while others are more deliberate with it and allow its fans to do whatever tf they want cuz the point of that AU is to have fun as a whole! AS A COMMUNITY. So its not only childish of u, but also arrogant and selfish to act like you OWN the content that someone ELSE made
