Despite being nearly eight months pregnant, you make a point to still get brunch with your friends at least twice a month. And up until today, it had really seemed like nothing had changed at all.

For some reason, there’s an almost awkward tension between the girls and you. Not bad, just odd. Off, slightly.

Finally, Jamie clears her throat and looks at you, concern swimming in her eyes, “Can we talk to you?”

You take a sip of orange juice, brow raising slightly as you nod.

“What the fuck are you doing playing house with him?

You choke on your juice, “I’m sorry?” The words come out sputtered.

Grace sighs, glancing over at Jamie and then back at you, “We aren’t trying to say you shouldn’t be planning on having him in your life. Obviously you guys have to plan on co-parenting and what not,” She gestures to your bump that feels like a watermelon weighing you down at all times, “But, dating him? He’s pushing fifty, babe.”

Oh, so that’s what this is.

You try, and fail, to hold back a laugh, “Again, I’m sorry?”

They blink at you, but it’s Grace that speaks up again, “What we mean to say is, you don’t have to be in a relationship with him just because you’re having his baby. You don’t want to change your whole life, all of your plans, for a guy pushing fifty, do you?”

A part of you wants to yell at them, ask them who the hell they think they are. Another part of you just wants to get up and leave.

But you know them, and you know they care and know they love you, so you bite back any hateful remarks and clasp your hands together with a sigh.

“I understand why you would feel that way, really. But, we are not pursuing this just because we’re having a baby together,”

You sigh, glancing down at what’s left of your brunch, “We have a real connection. An-and I am being very, very well taken care of,”

Jamie grimaces, “Ew, don’t talk about that over my brunch, please,”

Grace sighs, glancing sideways at Jamie before looking at you, “I just,” she clears her throat, “We are just really concerned. Like, what if there’s some big secret reason he’s almost fifty, single, and no kids right now?”

You sigh, biting your lip, “He actually was married before. But,“

“Oh my god.” Jamie mumbled under her breath.

“But,” You give her a pointed look before continuing, “he is a good man. He rubs my feet when I ask, makes all the food I ask for when I ask for it. Hell, he even does the maintenance on my car and he unclogged my shower drain.”

They watch you skeptically, but can’t help but notice the soft smile and look in your eyes when you talk about him.

They may not understand, but they’ll always support you.

“Plus,” There’s a cheeky glint on your face as you bite your lip, “I’ve never had so many orgasms in one night.”

“Oh my god.” Jamie gags as Grace shrieks, causing you to giggle loudly. The older ladies in the cafe glare at you subtly.

Your table finally calms down, and Jamie side eyes you before laughing slightly to herself, “I still don’t get it, but if he has enough stamina to satiate you of all people, that’s a fucking win in my book.”

Toshinori Yagi sat across from Izuku Midoriya, looking extremely uncomfortable as he clasped his hands together. Sweat dripped down his face as he tried to find the right words.

"Y-Young Midoriya," he coughed. "I… uh… I feel that, as your mentor, it's my duty to, er, educate you on… certain aspects of life."

Izuku blinked. "Oh! Like hero strategy? The importance of recovery time after a big battle?"

"No." Toshinori's face paled. "I-I mean… relationships. Love. And… physical intimacy."

Izuku turned bright red. "OH GOD."

"YES, EXACTLY!" Toshinori shouted, dramatically pointing at him. "GOD HELP US BOTH!"

There was an awkward silence.

Toshinori cleared his throat. "Ahem. So. When two people care for each other very much—"

"PLEASE STOP."

Toshinori held up a shaky finger. "No, no, listen, Young Midoriya. I must do this! It is my responsibility!" He inhaled deeply. "It is much like a United States of Smash—except instead of destroying an enemy, you are—"

"OH MY GOD, PLEASE NO!" Izuku covered his ears, mortified. "DON’T RUIN SMASH ATTACKS FOR ME, SENSEI!"

Toshinori’s gaunt cheeks turned red. "S-sorry."

They sat in silence for a moment.

"...Do you have any questions?" Toshinori finally asked.

Izuku stood up. "I HAVE TO GO STUDY FOR A TEST!"

"But there’s no test!"

"THERE IS NOW!"

And with that, Midoriya ran.

Outcome: All Might is traumatized. Izuku never looks at him the same way again.

Katsuki Bakugo – Getting "The Talk" from Best Jeanist

Best Jeanist sat elegantly in his chair, hands clasped, posture impeccable. Across from him, Katsuki Bakugo slumped aggressively, arms crossed, looking seconds away from combusting.

"Katsuki," Best Jeanist said, his voice smooth. "It is my duty as your mentor to educate you on a matter most delicate."

Bakugo scowled. "If this is about ‘being a proper gentleman,’ I’m out."

Jeanist exhaled through his nose. "No, my unruly pupil. This is about intimacy."

Bakugo's eye twitched.

Jeanist continued. "Love is a fabric that must be woven carefully. Each strand—trust, respect, communication—is vital. And much like a fine pair of denim—"

"NO." Bakugo stood up. "NO DENIM ANALOGIES, YOU WEIRD STRING BEAN!"

Jeanist ignored him. "A strong foundation is crucial, lest one suffer a wardrobe malfunction, if you understand my meaning."

Bakugo’s hands literally sparked.

Jeanist smiled, unfazed. "And of course, protection is important. Just as one would not step into battle without proper armor, one must also ensure—"

"STOP TALKING!" Bakugo turned completely red. "I’M OUT! I’M DONE! I’M NOT LISTENING TO A GUY IN A DENIM TURTLENECK TALK ABOUT CONDOMS!"

And with that, he exploded through the nearest window.

Outcome: Best Jeanist remains unbothered. Bakugo needs therapy.

Fumikage Tokoyami – Getting "The Talk" from Hawks

Hawks leaned back in his chair, casually tossing popcorn into his mouth. "Alright, kid. So. Birds and bees talk. Let’s go."

Fumikage Tokoyami stared at him. "...I already know about birds."

Hawks grinned. "Not like this, you don’t."

Tokoyami sighed. "This is unnecessary. My path is one of solitude and darkness. I have no need for such knowledge."

Hawks waggled his eyebrows. "Yeah? Well, when your Dark Shadow isn’t the only thing rising at night, you might wanna reconsider."

Tokoyami froze.

Dark Shadow: "BRO, WHAT THE HELL?!"

"HAWKS." Tokoyami gripped the edge of the table, visibly trembling. "DO NOT SPEAK OF SUCH MATTERS!"

Hawks chuckled. "Relax, Bird Boy. I got your back." He tossed a condom at him. "Use that if you ever wanna fly south for the winter, yeah?"

Tokoyami practically flew out of the room.

Outcome: Tokoyami becomes celibate. Dark Shadow is scarred for life.

Tamaki Amajiki – Getting "The Talk" from Fatgum

Fatgum grinned as he placed a giant plate of takoyaki in front of Tamaki.

"Alright, bud! Let’s talk about the big stuff!"

Tamaki, already nervous, started sweating. "B-big… s-stuff?"

"Yup!" Fatgum nodded. "The ol' horizontal tango! The whoopee cushion shuffle! The bibbity boppity boink!"

Tamaki looked like he wanted to disintegrate.

Fatgum laughed. "Aww, c’mon, kiddo! Ain’t nothing to be scared of! Everybody’s gotta learn how to get down to business eventually!"

Outcome: Fatgum laughs it off. Tamaki moves to another city.

Dabi leaned against the wall, arms crossed, smirking.

"So, you and relationships. That’s a funny thought."

Shigaraki scowled. "Tch. Whatever. I don’t care."

Dabi chuckled. "Alright, well, let’s say you do care. You meet someone, they actually like you—miracle, by the way—so what then?"

Shigaraki crossed his arms. "Then I’d… tell them they’re mine?"

Dabi sighed. "Alright, well, if you don’t wanna accidentally dust your date mid-kiss, you should probably learn some control, champ."

Shigaraki looked away. "...Tch. Whatever. I have control."

"Yeah? What about when your emotions get wild?" Dabi grinned. "Or if they kiss your neck?"

Shigaraki turned bright red. "SHUT UP."

Outcome: Shigaraki refuses to speak to Dabi for a week.

Hitoshi Shinso – Getting "The Talk" from Aizawa

Aizawa sighed, rubbing his temples. "Okay, Shinso. We need to talk."

Shinso sipped his coffee. "About what?"

Aizawa: "...Sex."

Shinso immediately choked.

Aizawa sighed again. "Look, it’s nothing complicated. Just be respectful, communicate, use protection, and for the love of god, don’t use your Quirk in bed."

random Bob shit because why not.

There was one thing that Bob did that you loved and that was how he casually displays his strength in mundane means, whether that'd be gently moving you to the side as he reached for something, moving furnature with effortless ease so you didn't have to strain yourself in carrying heavy boxes; and or rushing to your aid upon seeing that you were at risk of having something hit you square on the head as he held them at bay with one hand and keeping you protectively against him with the other that laid respectively on your lower back.

His question of 'are you okay?' were enough to have you internally swooning as you intentionally leaned further into him, listening to his calm heart as your brain tried to comprehend that he had traversed from one side of the room to you within miliseconds, just to stop you from getting hurt from something so small as a stray cup from falling on your head.

You often called Bob your golden guardian becuase of it, that and mainly becuase you liked how his eyes would avert from yours just as a shy smile crept across his face, giving away his true feelings towards the nickname.

For a man as powerful as Bob he sure managed to somehow make himself the least physically imposing man you've ever met by being sweet and somewhat awkward at times, so much so that when he does prove that he was the most powerful of your ragtag group was enough to have you question where the strength came from, only to remember that Bob was always the stronger one out of all of you.

Which was silly but you couldn't help it as you didn't want to reduce Bob to his powers and other attributes that came with all that he endured. You even forget that he was completely invincible, immune to all forms of harm when you thought he had gotten hurt once, quickly rushing to his side just to see he was perfectly fine.

'i thought you were hurt.' you tell him when you saw his look of confusion sent your way.

'you've seen me do incredible feets of strength and yet you thought i would get hurt from a papercut?' Bob asks with hints of amusement in his voice as he watched you craddle his unscathed hand to your chest, caressing in means of calming yourself down more then him.

'i wouldn't refer to almost having a knife slice open your palm as a paper cut.' you replied as your thumb moves across his palm that would've been a bloody mess had his healing factor not kicked in, feeling a little silly as you were reminded that Bob was beyond human in every aspect you could possibly think of, a god amongst men if you were to really think about it.

Bob smiles, finding your forgetfulness towards his powers adorable and endearing as this only further told him that you loved him regardless of whether he had powers or not, given how quickly you were to move to see if he was okay in the same manner as he would when he thought you were hurt. It warmed his heart to know that you both reacted in similar circumstances, wanting to keep the other safe to the best of your abilities, to take care of each other while sharing moments that felt reminiscent of a dream domestic life by having a shared living space together.

A dream come true for Bob, not that he needed to admit this to you as he knew his face gave it all away for you to understand his inner workings. He kisses the side of your head, smiling. 'i'll be more careful next time if that makes you feel better.' he says and you couldn't help but softly slap his bicep, pouting.

'god forbid i get worried about you.' you said as Bob held you closer to him, now laughing at your seemingly moppy state.

'i'm not making fun of you for it, if anything i find it really sweet of you being concerned about me. So i'd much rather you do this more constantly if it makes you feel better.' Bob kisses your head once again as he closed his eyes, hoping everyday with you would be like this all the time.

surprise, bitches!!! im giving yall a lil taste of some more writing. im not really on hiatus (obvi, i post every 5 minutes) but i've been sooooo busy that i haven't been able to post half as much. with that being said, here are some more in depth headcanons ab yandere!mike. :p could not have done this without @futturmand literally helping me (coming up w/) most of these. thank u bae.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt was kinda an asshole. to his coworkers, random customers at the mall, anybody who came too close to you, and yes, even sometimes to you. he was the kind of guy who had a semi-permanent grimace on his face. the corners of his mouth would turn into smiles typically only when he was with abby or you two were alone and he could let his guard down. of course, even then, the moment you caught an attitude, that grimace would appear right back on his face. his demeanor was typically gruff. he was the kind of guy most people didn't want to mess with. this meant any male coworkers around you would be tested their fate to even glance at you the wrong way and god forbid mike saw one of them brush something off of your shoulder. that would truly be the end of them.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt is very obsessive over safety. after losing garrett, he has this urge to do nothing but to protect. this means that mike is the type of guy to want your location at all times. not only that, but he wants to know what you're doing, who you're with, and what time you'll be home. he expects a text when you leave, a text when you get there, an hourly check-in, then a text on your way home. it brings him a sense of peace, knowing where you are. he watches life360 obsessively when you're not in his sight, watching your little bubble move through wherever you may be. he's constantly checking the speed of the car you're in, occasionally stalking your friend's instagram stories to see where you are. he's overprotective to the extent that it can be overbearing, but at the end of the day it's endearing knowing he cares that much.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt uses the fact that you're younger than him to manipulate you. he's less about violence or anything physical and instead uses his words. he will constantly remind you how helpless you are without him, how he has so much more life experience than you. he'll point out randomly when you mention not knowing how to do something, saying something like, "see, babydoll, where would you be without me? that's right, nowhere. you need me to take care of you." he's also the kind of guy to eventually make you financially dependent on him if he could ever afford it. he would never put you in that spot until he was comfortable enough to do so, though, meaning it might be a loooong time before that ever happened.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt treats you less like a partner and more like a little sibling, kinda like he treats abby. as strange as it is, he also feels a paternal instinct to protect you. it comes from his deep-rooted feelings of abandonment. he lost garrett, his mom, his dad, and sometimes he feels like abby hates him. he loves that you listen to him, that he can command you to do something and you'd be so good for him. he absolutely adores being able to control different aspects of your life, making you completely reliant on him. it makes him feel special and needed, which he hasn't felt in a very long time. he loves nothing more than when he gets to scold you almost like a parent, your eyes falling to the ground, that adorable wounded puppy look he loves so much taking over your face.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt is incredibly clingy and touch starved. he wants to have a hand on you 24/7. forget having personal space, because you are not getting it with him. he'd follow you around, watching you everywhere you'd go. his hands would grip onto your hips so tightly sometimes it'd feel like they were glued to them. he'd always have his arms around you, kissing at your neck, nipping in a way you felt shouldn't be shown in public. mike didn't care, he wanted everyone to know you belonged to him in every single way. he controlled you, and if he wanted to embarrass you and turn your face red by leaving purple marks on your neck in the middle of a shopping plaza, then so be it. you would take it or be punished.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt who of course uses his sleeping pills on you when you're being a little brat. he isn't violent with you for the most part except for the rare occasion when he will hold you down onto the bed until you'll listen, but otherwise he opts for something simpler. when you're being a little too frustrating for him, going against his every command or you're not feeling like being held, mike will simply crush up his sleeping pills, slip them into your water. he's careful with you once you doze off, never abusing you in any way. all he will do is tuck you into your shared bed and hold your body in his arms, whispering sweet nothings as you're off in your own sweetly drugged up world.

olderbfyandere!mike schmidt would most definitely have a thing for being called daddy. sorry guys, it had to be said. hot take, i guess. considering he did want to protect you so thoroughly, he loved when you'd call him daddy. it made him feel like your protector, like you knew he was the one that did everything for you. it was so crazy how such a simple word could change his whole day. he loved hearing it fall out of your lips as he'd brush through your hair or wash your body off in the shower. "thank you, daddy," you'd hum and he'd grin ear to ear. "you're welcome, babydoll," he'd always say, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

Septimius Geta and Septimius Caracalla Headcanons

headcanons for these dorks because if I dont put this out there I’ll explode, also some au things in here⊹ ࣪ ˖

Geta 𓃭

- oh the angst on this one

- He grew up very insecure about his complexion, namely his hair. Not many in Rome were born ginger. He’d get compared to the barbaric tribes they were taking over.

- A lot of the elders would whisper about he and his brother being a bad omen from the gods.

“The last time we had an emporer who bore a fire branded mane, Rome was burning while a fiddle played.”.. they would say..

- He and his brother heard the stories of such evil rulers as bed time stories told by their mother, Julia.

- It was tradition for every heir to the throne to hear these in hopes that it would scare them into growing, well, not evil.

- Yeah this just gave them nightmares, caracalla frequently sought his brother for solace, wailing that one of the “vile ones” (past not so great sadistic emperors) was under his bed.

- Geta’s favorite snack is Enkhytoi!

- He and his brother would frequently raid the Head Chef’s kitchen for the sweet pastries.

- They were seldom caught in action, but you could always tell it was them due to the lingering scent of honey and the obvious crumbs on their faces.

- Geta did not care for roughhousing, but he LOVED exploring the outskirts of Rome when Pater and Mamma werent looking.

- He would, of course, bring Caracalla with him on these little adventures, but he usually had to be the cautious one since Caracalla would frequently stray too close to something dangerous.

- Speaking of Pater, they would frequently avoid their father, Emperor Septimius, to the best of their ability. He was scary, mean, and had a temper that would rival mars’ if the twins so much as looked weak.

- Geta was frequently name called “Maculosus” by his peers, as it wasn’t uncommon for him to be riddled with bruises on his arms and chest.

- These bruises are large, not made by tiny fists. It was very clear to those that saw his bruises that they weren’t made by his twin.

- The earliest these marks appeared on Geta and his twin were the age of 9.

- The Praetorian saw these bruises, time after time without fail. They did not like it. Not one bit.

- Anyway! Geta and Caracalla were uneducated in arts, sciences and mathematics. Very strange for up and coming rulers. Mamma and Pater were very neglectful in this aspect (as well as many others).

- Geta and Caracalla grew up longing and seeking for relationships that would fill their mommy issues specifically. (you can see why none of them worked out). They both use indulgence as a way to cope.

- His favorite animals are lions, all big cats (known to Roman knowledge), really.

- He has a “pet” lion named Mel. Mel is an undefeated champion in the Colosseum. He’s constantly pampered and overfed. Kinda chunky but that’s how Geta likes him. Sometimes, when Caracalla allows it, Mel gets to sleep in their room.

- Geta was a peanut allergy kid but grew out of it.

Caracalla 𓃸

- oh the angst on THIS one.

- favorite animals are monkeys and apes. Hence, Dondas.

- Dondas was given to Caracalla at the age of 15 and has stuck with Caracalla his whole life.

- Dondas is a comfort creature for Caracalla. She can tell when Caracalla is entering or is in one of his episodes and her presence alone is enough to comfort her hurting owner.

- Caracalla feels immensely guilty and angry towards Geta for his sacrifices. Geta, almost every time their Pater entered one of his rampages, took the hits meant for him (this is canon so not really a headcanon but still)

- Caracalla feels like he owes Geta something and he hates it. Many times he wishes it was him that took the blows, not Geta.

- Due to the pressures of the time, being protected in such a way instead of receiving the strikes himself made him feel “less manly” and weaker than his brother. He came to resent Geta instead of their abusive father.

- if I didn’t list stockholm syndrome before—the stockholm syndrome on this one somebody help him

- To protect himself, Caracalla’s mind has completely forgot all of his childhood (except the beatings and the—albeit rare—good times. This led him associating the good times with the beatings, that they must have done something bad to deserve “discipline”. That their Pater was very loving and cared for them deeply. )

- He developed syphilis at the age of 18 and dimentia two years later.

- He started suffering from lead poisoning at the age of 22.

- He has frequent visits with the medicus and healers. They tended to feel like family the more he went. They genuinely cared about his wellbeing, how strange. This was nice.

- His favorite food is anything from the sea. Snapper, grouper, flounder, if it swims it’s fair game. He also loves shellfish! He has had every type Rome could offer,, except for shrimp, which he has an allergy to. He will refuse to eat anything raw, however. Not for safety precautions—he couldn’t care less—it’s just gross to him.

- Yes, he shares his seafood with Dondas.

- Caracalla takes very good care of his hair! He spends 30 minutes every day preening it. Unfortunately, his efforts are to no avail when it comes to bed heads. He wakes up? Every effort wasted. But at least his bed head is fluffy and not at all crusty. Think highland cow.

- Another insecurity? Acne. He’s extremely insecure about it and hates the way it looks and feels. It hurts sometimes.

- He’s had acne his whole adult life, it just won’t go away.

- Back to his hair, like Geta, he’s insecure about its color. Even when many women have insisted that they thought it was gorgeous, with its red and gold hues, he still didn’t feel any better about it.

- Caracalla and his brother like to wear extravagant and expensive clothing to distract from the hair. They often wear their laurels for the same purpose (also they just think it looks awesome—it does).

- On a side note, Caracalla and Geta are terrified of the Praetorian. Yes, their very sworn protectors that are here only to serve them. The guard does a pretty good job, and the twin emperors have used them when necessary (for example when they almost got shot by a stray arrow)! But they both just cant shake the feeling that the Praetorian have it out for them (they do not). Though they would never admit it, the two see themselves as some of the worst emperors Rome has seen (the worst they’ve done is spend millions in tax payer money to fund for their Golden Parties and daily extravaganzas, not to forget the gladiator fights), and the Praetorian are notorious for taking out such emperors.

- They’re literally not that bad, there have been LEAGUES worse than them.

- Caracalla often has staring contests with random Praetorians to like? assert dominance I guess? A sort of “hey!! - Caracalla can sing very well! It’s a talent that very few know of—even his brother doesn’t know

- Impatient with himself and others

- Was accused of being the murderer of his father (he is not and actually heard his father’s dying cries at the age of 16, he was a floor above the murder. He was heavily affected by said murder. Geta was not.)

- Deep fear of dogs and anything resembling canidae features. He tried to order the removal of any and all Capitoline Wolf statues but was denied due to it being an integral part of Roman culture.

I also love how Vegito and Gogeta are not only distinctly different beings, and the former is conducted primarily by Vegeta while the latter is conducted primarily by Goku - but Vegito is clearly the more benevolent and emotionally involved of the two people, while Gogeta tends more towards frigidity and vindictiveness. Because as individuals, Vegeta’s “good side” is just as subliminal and rare to witness as Goku’s “bad side,” right; Vegeta is not a nice man by nature, and Goku doesn’t have a grudge holding bone in his body. Goku’s lack of any impulse towards vengeance is the only reason Vegeta is still breathing. This is well established.

But when Vegeta is shown to care for other people, it always manifests as him lashing out in defense of them against some greater source of cruelty - he gets pissed at Beerus for humiliating his father, he attacks Beerus for hurting Bulma, he freaks out on Cell for killing Future Trunks & knocks Present Trunks out immediately after hugging him for the first time, because he knows his son would insist on staying with him through his kamikaze attempt on Buu. Because Trunks is like that. Because Trunks is his son.

And Vegito takes that principle and drags it out to the extreme! The whole first fight with Buu is just him playing this sadistic cat and mouse game, very much in the arrogant style of Vegeta, but he also makes constant mention of the loss of Gohan, Goten, Trunks and the others - using the language of “stealing” “hunting” and “kidnapping” that brings to mind Vegeta’s own childhood trauma. He displays some aspects of Goku’s personality of course, with the playfulness and the attempts to get Buu to surrender, but Vegeta is obviously steering this ship. It’s his confidence and self-superiority that makes them lose the fight, and his belief in the necessity of a warrior’s “pride” that he explicitly cites as his reason for looking down on Buu.

Because this is what Vegeta’s attempts at “good” look like, right? Preternaturally violent and egotistical, but with a sense of protectiveness and paternity that renders his behavior heartwarming, at least enough to show you that he’s grown from the smirking, bloodthirsty garden gnome he was first introduced to us as. Underneath all the bravado, Vegito is aggrieved on behalf of someone else. He’s being kind in the only way he knows how.

Gogeta… is not that guy. He doesn’t do rescue missions, and he doesn’t feel the need to remind you of his superiority. He portrays himself as an avenger, not a defender, with lines that evoke a sense of justice and consequence like “it’s over, I’ve come for you” and “your own bad energy will be your undoing.” He snidely tells Frieza he’s coming back for him after he’s done with Broly, even though he’s visibly incapacitated and not really picking a fight. He forgoes Vegito’s up-close and relatively simple combat style in favor of these dramatic, wide-ranging attacks, more like an act of god than a natural disaster. And while Vegito allowed Buu to play with him a bit, postponing the end of the fight to sate his own lust for battle, Broly doesn’t even get to touch Gogeta once he goes super saiyan, his dedication to the pursuit reminding you of Goku’s final battle with Frieza.

…Except Goku offered Frieza clemency, and looked genuinely disappointed when he rejected it. Gogeta does no such thing. The audience gets to watch, half in awe and half in horror, as he renders this uber-aggressive Saiyan attack dog into a flailing, incoherent mess, not bothering to stop and ask him to surrender even though the updated Broly is a much more sympathetic character than Frieza or Majin Buu ever were. He enunciates the final kamehameha with such gravitas that you actually feel scared for Broly - and in the older movie, when Janemba switches back to his original form, he takes one look at Gogeta’s glowering face and scurries away in terror.

Hey, remember how Gohan fled in fear when Goku (under extreme duress) threatened him during the fight with Frieza? After he transformed into a super saiyan for the first time, guided only by mindless rage after Frieza’s pointless killing of Krillin? During a fight which only began after Vegeta, someone who caused him immeasurable harm in the past, told him to avenge the killing of both their families & the genocide of their race? All of which took place on a planet which the earthlings only had to travel to in the first place because the Saiyans killed several of their friends - a slaughter which Goku witnessed the aftermath of, at which point he told Nappa “there will be no mercy for you, you bastard” in the original manga?

Goku gets slotted into this role quite a lot, doesn’t he. He’s a protector, but also a savior, a planner, a consoler, and an avenger. He does his best to help people and he raises hell when he can’t, but he’s not vengeful by nature. Quite the opposite. See how he treats Vegeta in the Namek saga, smiling at him and bantering with him like he’s a coworker, and not the guy who crushed his bones to dust while cackling with sadistic delight.

But that’s because Vegeta only did that much damage to him. Nappa killed all the others - with Vegeta’s eager permission, yes, but that’s still enough distance to allow Goku to psychologically seperate him from those crimes. Goku’s clemency initially emerged as a byproduct of his desire to help people, but we have seen that same drive give way to brutal punitiveness when he fails, and somebody he loves dies. You can argue that it's misdirected self-hatred, anger at his own inability to be the hero those people trusted him to be - Krillin died screaming “Goku!” you might recall. The removal from other people Goku grew up enduring feeds into his sense of responsibility for the community that grew around him as an adult. He knows how important he is, and it hurts when he comes up short.

And I think that, understanding Gogeta to be primarily led by Goku but still notably impacted by Vegeta, that intense drive towards retribution the fusion displays takes on more meaning. Vegito exemplifies Vegeta’s better impulses, which are brought out in full force by Goku’s influence - Gogeta exemplifies Goku’s ugliest inner desires, with the leash he usually keeps them on loosened by Vegeta’s influence.

Because Vegeta was knocking down 100+ sentient creatures per day as soon as he could walk. He spent most of his adult life as a pampered slave, he murdered one of his oldest companions without a second thought, his introductory panel shows him munching on a severed limb, ffs. Vegeta has been through a lot, and I'm the last person to downplay that, but he hasn’t been going through it emotionally involved. He's used to this. He had to be. If he wasn't, his whole psyche would've collapsed by age twelve tops.

But Goku? Goku had to do all of that with his feelings turned on! And he chooses to remain steadfastly good and give second chances no matter how bad the situation, and that’s a healthy enough way of dealing with all this horror. But a side effect of being guided by that choice is the knowledge that he could be worse, he could be crueler. He’s a lot like Gohan, in that sense.

And Vegeta used his dying breaths to beg Goku to abandon that long-abiding impulse to show mercy. Goku might believe in forgiveness, and he might’ve let Vegeta go because of that belief, but Vegeta is a stubborn little bastard. He thinks that it’s holding him back, allowing people to slip through the cracks; to get hurt. And we’ve established that these two are both capable of misdirecting self-anger at others, though Vegeta does it much more often than Goku.

So when Goku’s mind is merged with Vegeta’s, and he’s forced to look back on his decisions to allow horrible people to live not with pride, but with regret and disgust, it manifests as Gogeta. A walking overcorrection, the sentient reconciliation of these two belief systems. Who doesn’t forgive and doesn’t forget, self-assured and bitter and terrifying, like Goku was for the first twenty seconds after he went Super Saiyan. Like he always told himself he wouldn’t be.

:O I love this omg!! Fwb with Ace and Deuce is so fun because they're both loser virgins in their own ways. Ace thinks he's the love god because he's had a girlfriend before, but the truth is that he's very inexperienced in a lot of aspects of relationships (especially college-aged relationships since you're technically his first in that respect). I like to think he and Deuce would bicker over who can please you better, but they're both fucking you in missionary and kissing you awkwardly and sloppily. They'll get it eventually. ^^;;;

It's a lot of figuring out what works and what doesn't with them, seeing their faults and flaws, but also appreciating the things they do unconsciously. Like when Deuce worries over whether or not he's hurting you, telling you to let him know if anything's uncomfortable, promising to go slow. He's very diligent about making sure he wears protection, and his aftercare, while at times suffocating, is very sweet. He just wants to make sure you're happy and feeling good. <3 he's a sweetheart. He's much the same outside of the bedroom, too. But now that you're fwb there are moments where he just stares at you and gets flustered because he now knows what you look like without clothes on. He's so down bad.

Ace also cares immensely for you, but it isn't as outright or obvious as Deuce (or so he wants it to seem). But if you look close enough and the more time you spend with Ace, the more you'll begin to realize his way of caring is just as obvious as Deuce's. Ace is very observant and he picks up on certain things you might not expect him to. It's how he's learned some of your favorite things and preferences without you having to tell him. Teasing is his love language. He'll tease you and be characteristically childish, but he never goes too far. He knows the line between being mean and being playful. If his words were to cause you distress or leave you crying, he'd genuinely feel bad. It's never his intention to hurt you. Ace just doesn't know how to admit to his feelings sometimes, which is why he'll act like he doesn't care if you eat that pastry he nearly fought other students over when it's bakery day, all of it just to get your favorite.

Both he and Deuce mean well. <3 also,,,,, the first time they saw you in lingerie or just your usual undergarments,,, they folded. These two would do anything for you. They love you so much they sometimes try (and fail) to sneak out of Heartslabyul just to drop by for spontaneous sleepovers.

I think fwb with them works (until it doesn't because they fall hard) because you're already so close. They just railed you into the mattress and now the three of you are dropping by Sam's store to get snacks for movie night at Ramshackle. And omg don't get me started on how it's canon that Ace and Deuce often accompany the player/Yuu on grocery shopping and how they visit town together!!!! OTL visits to town start to feel a lot more like dates when Ace and Deuce are in love with you hehe.

𝐘𝐨𝐨 𝐉𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐲𝐮𝐤’𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 - 𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

A/N: i haven’t been on tumblr in a while and i’ve recently gotten back into ORV as my main phase, and i really love yjh!! this is just a mini dump, if anyone does see this, you may not agree with what I say and that’s fine!!! this is just my views on him!

Warning for major spoilers on ORV, not sure if needed but just to be safe lol!

Out of every character in ORV I think YJH is the one with the most mischaracterization, and is dumbed down a lot. I tend to see that a lot of content for him will revolve around Dokja and his relationship with him, and while it is a key aspect of his character, I don’t believe that’s all there is to him.

I’ve seen him get mischaracterized too- portrayed as a cold, rude, tsundere character. I think this is mainly due to KDJ being an unreliable narrator, so we see his thoughts on YJH rather than how YJH is himself. People know KDJ is an unreliable narrator, they just don’t know how to discern what is unreliable I think!

The thing is, KDJ sees YJH as the cold, strong, and intimidating person because ultimately, that’s who KDJ wants to be. Reading TWSA, YJH practically saved KDJ and therefore he looked up to YJH and sort of projected the traits he always wanted onto YJH. I also think the manhwa made it a bit worse as they portray YJH the way KDJ sees him, so little things showing YJH at his core goes unnoticed.

At his core, I believe YJH to be one of the sweetest characters in ORV. He cares deeply for all his companions and made many sacrifices for them, and longs for the world’s end to be perfect and for all his companions to be safe and happy. He genuinely tries to do the best over and over even if he makes mistakes, like any human does.

The regressions may have hardened him on the outside, but inside he remained the sweet and gentle person he always was. He cares so deeply for people like his younger sister, who he endured workplace abuse for as he needed to provide for her, or Seolhwa who he wanted so desperately to save even if he knew it was a lost cause when she got possessed.

We see his sacrifices over and over, namely in the 999th turn YJH who sacrificed all he had for his companions, allowing them to ascend to being Outer Gods. And really, who can blame him for becoming so cold when he had to watch his loved ones, like the sister he raised die over and over?

What I found really compelling about him was his regression depression, the fact that he literally battled the part of him that wanted to live. 1863th thrn YJH really stuck with me because the pure despair and desperation he felt truly showed just how much he was suffering

Look at Secretive Plotter- his line about “Why, why is it not me, but you?” While people joke about this line being 2nd ML syndrome, there’s so much to be found in it. SP feels pain over the fact that unlike our YJH, he didn’t get a Dokja. He didn’t get a KDJ who knew him and helped him save his dear companions. It’s the simple fact that YJH got lucky, and SP didn’t.

Joonghyuk has had a lot of relationships with other characters, but I want to talk about Yoo siblings and how underrated they are. Joonghyuk loves his sister so much and did the best he could in raising her, and he tried so hard to protect her in the scenarios. Can you imagine his devastation seeing her die over and over? (Mia should have gotten more in canon!!)

Another underrated relationship is him and Seolhwa. The fact that those two were MARRIED and eveb had a child goes so untalked about. The grief YJH must have felt, he had a wife he adored and a child he loved just to lose them and never able to get them back. Him trying to reach for Seolhwa when she got possessed, in hopes of reaching out to her, made me so sad when I first read it.

Moving onto Joongdok as a relationship, I think the idea that YJH mainly only cares about KDJ just undermines the relationship. He did regress from the 0th round for KDJ- but he hadn’t even known it was him that he regressed for, and there were also other factors like how many questions he had left about life, the apocalypse, constellations, etc.

YJH is cold to KDJ at the start of their relationship and that is because in his eyes, KDJ is a threat to his goal and someone who he is unfamiliar with. Would you trust a guy sayinf he knows about all of your regressions and claiming to be a prophet, especially after what happenend with Anna Croft?

The beauty of Joongdok lies in the gradual build up, how it goes from KDJ trying to get YJH to side with him while YJH distrusts him, to YJH growing to be closest with the person he was the least familiar with, yet the most intertwined with (as we see in the story with all the other regressions). The significance in YJH acknowledging KDJ as a companion will haunt this fandom and me forever!

KDJ and YJH forming such a profound bound defies the story, as YJH is in a regression hellhole and feels as if no one can save him while KDJ appears and does (which also goes back to the point about SP and his jealousy towards YJH). KDJ saving YJH from this was so beautiful.

Before I go onto my next point I’d like to point out how I don’t blame YJH at all in the divorce arc. Can you imagine when the person you trusted most, the one you considered your companion, had been keeping the fact that you were characters in a novel he read, when something you hated most was the idea of being a puppet- of being controlled?

This brings me onto my point of YJH and HSY’s relationship- how it’s VERY much not talked about as much as I think it should be. I found it so amazing how YJH thanked HSY- his creator, his puppeteer- in the end, as ultimately, it was her story that saved him. It brings a sort of cycle, of the reader saving the author, the protagonist saving the reader, and the author saving the protagonist.

Yoohan being labeled to “tolerance” and “mutual agreement” makes me sad, because you don’t have to ship them, but I would like their dynamic to be acknowledged. There’s complexities to be found- the trust they had for eachother shown with YJH leaving his sister to HSY, the devotion, and the creator and creation dynamic.

Just like Joongdok and Doksoo, Yoohan is also soul intertwined, and that’s why I adore Yoohankim so much. In my opinion they’re the best trio in fiction and the best ship in ORV… They even have such amazing lines!

Writing Deities 

What Type of God?

The form and characteristics of your deity characters will depend highly on the overall worldbuilding and mood of your story. Here are some common deity “types”:

Human-like gods who make their own share of mistakes, are tempted by desires (think of Greek/Roman Gods)

“God” as a formless, omnipotent force of the universe that directs people’s fates 

An omnipotent God vs, Many gods in charge of one element or thing

Gods who command large spheres of elements (like sea, fire, war, etc.) vs. God of petty things (e.g. the God of morning coffee) 

The appearance of a God will reflect what the people of that culture look up to. They can resemble an animal, have almost monster-like features or just look human more or less. 

The Implications of Immortality

A god would generally be immortal, and this would be a major difference between your superheroes and a god. They cannot die and therefore are free from the fear of death, which is the most powerful motivator for our heroes. 

This means that you’ll need to assign a flaw so that you can kick your deity characters’ butts. Often, this comes from the very fact that gods are immortal. 

A tragic backstory of the god losing a human they cared about

A god who wants to die 

A god who was kind and compassionate, but grew irritable and tired after seeing eons of human stupidity. 

A god who regrets creating the world 

Set up limits of their power. Gods cannot invade each other’s territory or they cannot bring back people from the dead. Or they aren’t allowed to roam in modern clothing, and your god happens to hate armor.

In essence, deity characters exist to question the reader’s belief about an aspect of life. Gods are often personifications of abstract concepts and through them you can convey a message about what you think is important. 

For example, a Love Goddess may be a shriveled hag while her daughter, the Goddess of Passion, may be a standard beauty. This immediately conveys the message that a pleasing appearance is no substantial factor of true love. 

A God’s “Personality” 

The most important part of a god’s personality is going to be their attitude towards humans, since the purpose of a god is to command over and protect lives other than theirs. 

How does the god feel about being assigned a “job” at birth? Or did they choose to be a god (any regrets)?

Generally, a god’s personality would be linked to the thing they command. The god of the sea may be capricious but surprisingly open-minded; the god of trees may be generous but stubborn, etc. 

You can:

Summarize the god’s motto in a single sentence. It can be something philosophical or even comical, depending on the mood of your story. (e.g. “Love is cruel,” “Donuts are always right.”)

What kind of humans the god would like the most vs. hate the most

In general, are they compassionate/loving or sadistic/pessimistic?

He first saw you in town. He was with Sebastian to take some things and investigate a new case given by the queen. But the care was totally forgotten when he saw you. You were the most beautiful person he has ever seen. He knew that you are from an aristocratic family from your clothes and your maid but didn't know which one.

So he puts Sebastian to do some research on you and he learns that you were Elisabeth's cousin. He couldn't believe it. Even more when he first talked to you at Elisabeth's birthday party. You were just so calm and welcoming that he felt safe in your presence. Your quiet but clear voice made him feel like he could tell you everything and you wouldn't judge him.

And because of that he broke the engagement with Lizzy and started to court you. Elizabeth's mother was a bit mad but couldn't stop Ciel because he loves him as her own son and he deserves to have happy memories.

So you two start to date after some time whit a new engagement made between Ciel's family and your's. He started to call you often at his mansion and talk to you. He could've sworn that you were an angel from heaven when you first comforted him after he had a nightmare and you stayed at his mansion overnight. You were so gentle with him like he was made of glass and would break at the slightest touch. It was such a different feeling that he felt he doesn't deserve it.

All this time he thought that the only thing that counts is to revenge his family and to reestablish his family name but now he starts to doubt it. The only thing that he can think of is that he doesn't want to lose you ever like he lost everyone else. He will protect you whit his life and will make sure that you are always comfortable.

God forgive anyone that hurts or embarrasses you because Sebastian will take care of him.

Ciel would often come to you to talk about what is bothering him and would be grateful for who you are that he sends you different dresses and jewelry that he knows will look good on you.

In conclusion he will love and cherish you till the day he dies and will always be grateful for your presence even in the darkest times.

Alois Trancy

He saw you in a museum in the art section. He couldn't believe how much you looked alike whit a portrait of a very beautiful women that lived over 200 years ago. He couldn't take his eyes of you so he made a move. He came to you and introduced himself in the hope that you will see him as fascinating as he sees you. And you did. You introduced yourself and engaged in a conversation whit Alois.

Your voice and your looks made him not want to leave you alone at all. He feelt like he is talking to an angel who came to safe him. He learned that you are the grand grand granddaughter of the woman in the painting and that she was one of the most beautiful women that lived in that time and that you are happy that you could resemble her.

He started to court you and made the engagement whit your parents. He asks Hannah some things that you would like and if you don't he will punish her severely.

He will eventually tell you everything about his past and about Claude. He feels so safe with you that he couldn't bring himself to hide it. And the moment when you just tell him that it doesn't matter, it doesn't define him he swore he could die right then and there as a happy boy.

He would tell Claude to protect you and to kill anyone who comes too close to you whit bad intentions.

He would be very clingy. He doesn't like being away from you. He feels like you are his lifeline and can't leave you.

Do you remember the time when Alois was on his knees in front of Claude to prevent him of leaving? He would do that when you wanted to go have some tea time whit another girl. (What can I say he has abandonament issues.)

He feels that he is the luckiest boy on the planet because he can have such a beautiful and calm lover who sees him for who he is and not for his money.

We already know Lucifer to be THAT guy but this is just a new whole layer and when combine with some info about him and his brothers, we got a pretty interesting case of why he might has a kink for dacryphilia, or how he might, 'allegedly', be a lowkey sadist (not surprising but still give me a gasp when I think about it).

I noticed how he been switching his way of addressing MC from Solomon, to Adam, and to Eve, throughout his chats. And it either a spontaneous things where he group the 3 humans he know the most together and just address MC with them on a whims or it could be something more personal.

The type of unicorn he is talking about is most commonly known in the western folklore, where unicorns are fierce and hostile, and become docile only in the presence of virgins. While occasionally fiction writers have invoked the principle that men can be virgins also (see, e.g. Poul Anderson’s “Honeymouth”), usually, “virgin” implies “girls or women,” and therefore only women who have never had intercourse can tame a unicorn, but it could be also for those that are utterly pure (of heart if not of mind).

So it pretty much confirm it, Lucifer either get freaky in the 0rgy they got going on in Heaven or he get freaky with his brothers, which is weird but compared that to the torture camps and experimental labs on devil children, the possiblities of unhinged millenia old angels banging each others is something I expected but wholely not interested in opening that can of worm.

I would call myself the weird one when I think of some 50 Shades of Gray when I look at this image since in the chat Lucifer seem like a Disney princess:

This part set apart Lucifer and his brothers in a subtle but clear way because unlike how Gabriel and Michael would get into a fight on whether who would get to kill a devil, how Michael would easily commit genocide on an entire race of dragons, and how Raphael would eat his fellow angels for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lucifer can form a bond with another creature, who would be killed by the trio if he were to show the same attitude as he did with Lucifer. This also reflected how he became Gamigin and Jjok's brother. His normal open-minded aspect is so jarring that when compared to his brothers it stands out like a neon light.

And how he prefers action over words is probably what got him to care for Gamigin, Jjok, and the devils. Devils are honest by nature, and their feelings are worn on their sleeves, with a few exceptions (Leviathan, Orias, etc.), up until now, we rarely see a devil that doesn't commit to their promises or declarations (Satan does bring Minhyeok back from death, Mammon does own Hell's economy, Leviathan live his life perfectly every day for his friends, etc.), in some cases they might really lose limbs or even die for it (in Leraye's event, he broke pieces of his horn to turn them into bullets to protect the city). In a way, he also values genuine actions as proof of one’s character, loyalty, and intentions. Gamigin took him in when Lucifer was a fallen angel and nursed him back to health despite the danger of getting the devil's ire and how much Lucifer rejected his help (and was rude about it too), he persisted and he was consistent in his kindness. Jjok is scared of him, at first, but he still continues to visit and talk to him almost every day while he is in bed, and even begs Satan to not take his "family" away (I will cry again god-).

It also might be an instinct as an angel if he were to compare them to his love for God and how he might find it hard to correct his brothers' mania, where their only purpose in life is to love and worship God, no matter how terrible they become for him. This principle reflects a certain integrity and consistency in him. He expects others to demonstrate their worth through their actions and probably enjoys them trusting him, and he likely holds himself to the same standard (ie, how he becomes a devil and declares to protect Hell, feels guilty for the atrocities his brothers and Heaven have done, how he didn't shut it down and was a part of the problem, etc).

The horse from Hell he is talking about is probably a bicorn (a not very well-known folklore two-horned creature that is a fan of depraved people) or kelpie (a shape-changing aquatic spirit of Scottish legend known for tricking people into riding on them for some malevolent purpose) or just savage beasts of war that need no rider, the counterparts to the unicorn. So his methods of training the unicorn won't work on them.

Now to get back to my point on the switching of the address from Solomon, to Adam, and to Eve. It is just a theory but it could mean something like this:

"Daughter of Solomon": Used to express a personal or significant connection between them, possibly based on MC's predecessor's wisdom and who is known to be king of peace and someone who is loved by God and the devils.

"Daughter of Adam": Highlights common humanity (Adam represents humanity as the first human created according to biblical texts) while pointing out unique or odd characteristics.

"Daughter of Eve": Emphasizes femininity or human traits related to curiosity (Eve is tempted by the serpent to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge) or innocence (Genesis 2:25 states that "Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame," indicating their complete innocence and lack of self-consciousness or worldly concerns, which explain the "You are runaway, or have no sense of crisis").

must know your thoughts on van’s whole devotion thing with lottie!! saw your other post and needed to hear more

PARKINGLOT!!!!

van and lottie’s relationship means the absolute world to me, i love writing about them.

and van’s acolyteship in general

firstly, van is the first true acolyte we see on this show. she sees something in lottie, before anybody else does. even in the first few episodes, we see her looking up to lottie, listening to what she says. van has always had a sort of emotional connection to lottie that their being stranded in the wilderness allowed to grow and become something absolutely devotional. an acolyte by definition is a server, companion, or follower to a specific person or religious figure. although some people might say laura lee, mari, or even misty were that acolyte to lottie, it’s always been van in my head. she was the first real BELIEVER of the surviving group. as far as we know, none of the surviving girls truly believed in the wilderness religion the way that van did. she’s able to sense something in lottie and connect to that, and that is what ultimately starts her descent into whatever madness she falls into in the wilderness.

to me, this relationship isn’t technically one-sided, although i think that van is on the heavier end of it. i mean, it’s the classic devotion and their devotee. we see this theme in van a lot, whether it’s in her relationship with tai, or her commitment to the good of the group. if you’ll allow me to go off on a bit of a tangent about van for a second- her birthday is july 11th (from some light googling i did), making her a cancer (LIKE ME). bottom line of the cancer zodiac is home, family, community, protection of their loved ones, which is very van and i always think of that when thinking of her relationships with other people. it’s easy for a cancer to slip into that type of devotional, one-sided dependency on other people, and i think that’s something we’re seeing with van and lottie. 

my focus when thinking or writing about this particular pairing is usually van, because there is more for me to dive into there, but let’s talk about lottie’s end for a second. first thing that comes to mind is lottie just being purely grateful for van. not grateful for the fact that van puts her on some kind of pedestal, but grateful for the fact that van believes in her. in lottie, as a person. that she cares about her, and actually hears her out instead of brushing her off like some of the others. when i say that, i mean earlier episodes of season one, like that scene where lottie gives van the deer bone and instead of calling her crazy, she takes it and she uses it. she takes lottie’s dreams into account, she believes in lottie. lottie has lived her whole life with a mental illness nobody wanted to deal with, especially her parents. not wanting to deal with her schizophrenia became just plainly not wanting to deal with her. but out here in the wilderness, van sees her, and she listens. unlike shauna, or tai, or nat, when lottie talks about the spirits of the woods and her belief in nature, van absorbs it. she takes it completely to heart. lottie can see that, and she likes the feeling of being not only seen, but understood. don’t take this to mean that i think lottie likes becoming a sort of religious figurehead to the girls- that isn’t what i’m getting at. i just mean that she is happy to have somebody understand, and for somebody to actually be interested in her ideas and not shove them aside like a problem to be solved.

quick laura lee sidebar on this note, because i can already smell the “laura lee was lottie’s first believer!” replies- not that it isn’t true in some aspects, of course, just wanted to clear up why i said it was van and not her. the way i see it, laura lee is like thee agent of god. she looks up to him, she exudes him, she looks for him everywhere and in everything. i think laura lee falls back on her faith a little with lottie in a bit of a refusal to think that lottie really just might be crazy. or maybe that thought never even crosses her mind. either way, what laura lee truly believes in is god. lottie is a vessel for him, and although she believes that lottie has having visions, those visions are sent by god. her beliefs never changed, just the outlet for them. she didn’t believe the visions were purely lottie, she believed they were a gift from higher power. i don’t really know if any of what i just said made sense, but thats my two cents on the laura lee acolyte situation. i’m also a huge lottielee truther so please nobody come at me, i love them both and i love laura lee in general. 

another quick thing before i wrap up- something i love about the lottievan relationship is that van doesn’t pressure lottie like the other girls do. she doesn’t pit lottie against nat during the lottie vs nat hunting scenes, she doesn’t twist lottie’s words or make up straight lies about her like misty does, she doesn’t use her as anything other than a person she believes in. granted, van does put her up on a pedestal like the other girls who follow her do, and she does things in her name, but she does this because of lottie’s direct influence, not gossip among the girls or propaganda, for lack of a better term. lotties influence on van in general is the cause of so many little subplots and undertones in this show. she chooses to pick cards because she can’t let lottie die. she would rather anyone else, including herself, die before her, and i think that really goes to show you the effect lottie had on van.
