if it makes you feel better, i once posted a fic that maxe me so ashamed i orphaned it, only to realize i left my tumblr in the notes. I think its good to post and write ‘shitty’ work, cause you can look back at it later and see your growth. Plus, if you never put it out there, you’ll have a harder time knowing what your strengths and weaknesses are from an outside standpoint

Damn, good point. Unfortunately, I don’t think it outweighs the deep shame I would feel if I put my work where other human beings could see it with their own two eyes. That and I’m honestly not sure if I value progress/improvement like I used to. I’ve strongly hated my writing for so long, I really can’t picture it ever getting good enough for me not to hate it anymore. And that’s fine! I came to terms with that a long time ago! It just sucks when I work really hard on something and know I can’t post it without being instantly filled with regret.
