I watched The Broca Divide last night, which is notable for a lot of the SGC staff regressing to primitive humans, that locker room scene, and introducing Dr Janet Frasier!
It starts with Hammond explaining that the refugees from Chulak remembered three of the symbols of the gate address that the Goa`uld used to escape, and there`s only one address in the database from the Abydos cartouche with all three symbols, so that`s where SG1 and SG3 (Marines, led by Col. Makepeace) are going.
They arrive in darkness on the planet, are attacked by primitive humans (aka The Touched), meet the `normal` humans and get taken to the `Land of Light`, where they find out that the Goa’uld haven’t visited for at least a generation, so return back to earth straight away.
People then start behaving strangely - Lt. Johnson from SG3 attacks Teal’c, another two of SG3 fall through the briefing room window while fighting, then Carter gets infected, bringing us this unforgettable scene (Jack’s ‘Not like this!’ was like catnip to fanfic writers 😀):
Followed by Jack beating up Daniel for saying he was concerned about Sam (Jack says something like ‘stay away from Samantha’), and the disease spreading through the base. Hammond finally puts the base on lockdown at this point!
Janet saves the day by sending Daniel and Teal’c back to the planet to get blood samples (though Daniel gets abducted by the Touched), which allow her to synthesise a cure.
It’s a ridiculous episode in lots of ways, but there’s good stuff in it as well - continuity with the reference to the Chulak refugees, Hammond announcing that the President has endorsed the cultural/ scientific missions as well as military, seeing that Sam and Daniel have become friends, the locker room scene and Jack mentioning ‘that sweet little tank top’ at the end of the episode, the first appearance of Janet, the mention that the base used to be a missile silo, and Janet calling Teal’c ‘Mr Teal’c’ 😀
It is baffling why the rest of SG3 and SG1 weren’t isolated after Lt. Johnson started showing symptoms (especially now, post-Covid), and this brings up the wider issue of why they don’t think about spreading diseases to other planets or bringing diseases back. Maybe wormhole travel kills germs 🤷♀️
It occurred to me that this episode and the previous episode (Emancipation) set up a few tropes that turn up in Stargate fanfic a lot - the patriarchal planet (leading to Sam having to be ‘married’ to Jack), getting intoxicated off-world (as mentioned in Emancipation), and ‘aliens made them do it’ - all staples of S/J fanfic over the years 😀
Next episode (which I watched tonight but will write up tomorrow): The First Commandment.

The year was 2020, the world was in lockdown, and Mike’s career path took an unexpected turn. Little did he know, a chance encounter with an old friend at a Parisian cafe years ago would lead him to GrapheneAI, AI-enabled insights solutions on the rise.
A former client from Mike’s time at Abbey in Paris reconnected and saw the perfect fit between Mike’s experience and GrapheneAI’s US expansion plans. “This amazing company using AI for market research, you have to meet them,” He insisted. As fate would have it, that introduction became the start of an incredible journey for Mike.
Joining GrapheneAI as a “Covid hire” meant diving headfirst into a vibrant company. He fondly remembers the 2020 annual meeting in Goa as a highlight. It was there he met the “young, great minds” that propelled GrapheneAI forward, solidifying his belief in the company’s potential.

Marketing in an unfamiliar environment
It is quite clear that we stand in an unprecedented time. With Covid-19, a pandemic that hit the economy unexpectedly, the world felt its tremors. With all sectors affected, the highest affected industries included the travel and hospitality, however all businesses including ours who offer Luxury villas for sale in Goa and Villas in Coonoor saw a decline. However, this provided us with an option; to shift focus from the primary objective of selling a home to the support functions of the organization i.e. marketing and operations and other hygiene activities.
Marketing, an invariably imperative function bestowed the task of establishing a new perception and positioning in the minds of its customers. This was the opportunity for small brands to be creative and stand out with new and innovative ways of engaging with their customers. However, the struggle became real when the hit affected the cash flows almost immediately, resulting in a lower spending capacity. Marketers had to then choose to communicate via channels with lower spends, but higher reach and visibility.
With the entire population being under a lockdown, the most engaging activities were through apps on mobile devices and emailers. Visit Isprava to read more.

How Does Online Chat Therapy Work, And Can It Be Effective?
Mental health has become a crucial concern these days with around 1 in 4 people worldwide suffering from mental disorders according to the World Health Organization. Unfortunately, many people still hesitate to seek therapy due to several reasons, such as stigma, accessibility, and financial constraints. However, with the rise of technology, there are now various options available to those who wish to seek therapy, including online chat therapy.
Online chat-based therapy, also known as e-therapy, is a virtual counseling service where clients can communicate with licensed therapists through text-based messaging. Clients can access this service from anywhere in the world, as long as they have an internet connection. In this article, we’ll dive into how online chat therapy works, its effectiveness, and what to expect from a session.
How Does Online Chat Therapy Work?
Online chat therapy works similarly to traditional therapy, but instead of meeting in person, clients and therapists communicate through secure messaging platforms. Clients can access therapy sessions through websites or mobile apps, making it easy and convenient for them to reach out for help.
In an online chat therapy session, the therapist and the client engage in a conversation via typed messages. Some platforms may also offer video or audio options, but the most common mode of communication is text-based. The therapist may ask the client questions to assess their situation and provide feedback and support accordingly.
The process of finding an online therapist is similar to traditional therapy. Clients can search for therapists through directories, such as Psychology Today, or through therapy platforms, such as BetterHelp or Talkspace. After selecting a therapist, clients will have to fill out a brief questionnaire to help the therapist understand their needs and goals. Then, they can schedule an appointment for a chat session.
Is Online Chat Therapy Effective?
While online chat therapy is a relatively new form of therapy, studies have shown that it can be an effective treatment option for many mental health conditions.
In a 2014 study, researchers found that online cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) was effective in treating depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. The study also found that online CBT was just as effective as face-to-face therapy.
Another study in 2018 found that online therapy was just as effective as in-person therapy for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study found that online therapy was also more convenient and less expensive than in-person therapy.
Furthermore, online chat therapy can be an excellent option for those who prefer to communicate through written words or have social anxiety. In a traditional therapy setting, some clients may feel uncomfortable discussing their problems face-to-face with a therapist. Online chat therapy allows them to express themselves more comfortably, leading to a more productive therapy session.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant changes in the way we live our lives, including how we access healthcare services such as therapy. With social distancing and lockdown measures in place, traditional in-person therapy has become more challenging to access, making online chat therapy an increasingly popular option. Chat-based therapy allows clients to access therapy from the safety and comfort of their own homes, eliminating the need to travel or risk exposure to the virus. It also provides a flexible and convenient solution for those who may be struggling with mental health issues exacerbated by the pandemic, such as anxiety or depression.
What To Expect From An Online Chat Therapy Session?
Clients can expect an online chat therapy session to be similar to a traditional therapy session. The therapist may ask questions about the client’s mental health history, symptoms, and triggers. They may also discuss the client’s goals for therapy and work together to develop a treatment plan.
During the session, the client can communicate with the therapist via text messages. Clients can take their time to think about their responses and express themselves more comfortably through written words. The therapist will provide feedback and support, just like in traditional therapy.
It’s essential to note that online chat therapy may not be suitable for everyone. Clients with severe mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, may require more intensive treatment than what online chat therapy can provide. In these cases, a therapist may recommend in-person therapy or refer them to a mental health professional for further evaluation.
Advantages of Online Chat Therapy
Accessibility: Online chat therapy provides accessibility to people who might otherwise be unable to access traditional therapy, such as those living in rural areas or those with mobility issues. It also allows clients to access therapy from anywhere in the world, making it an excellent option for those who travel frequently.
Affordability: Online chat therapy is typically less expensive than in-person therapy, making it an excellent option for those on a budget. Clients can also choose to pay for sessions as needed, rather than committing to a long-term therapy plan.
Convenience: Online chat therapy provides convenience to clients who might have difficulty attending in-person therapy sessions due to work, school, or family obligations. Clients can access therapy sessions from their homes or anywhere with an internet connection, making it a flexible option.
Anonymity: Online chat therapy allows clients to maintain their anonymity and privacy, which can be crucial for those who fear social stigma or embarrassment.
Disadvantages of Online Chat Therapy
Technical issues: Online chat therapy relies on technology, which can be subject to technical issues such as poor internet connection, power outages, or platform malfunctions. These issues can interfere with the therapy session and may cause frustration for both the client and the therapist.
Limited nonverbal communication: Online chat therapy lacks the nonverbal cues that are present in traditional therapy, such as facial expressions and body language. This limitation can make it difficult for therapists to interpret the client’s emotions accurately.
Delayed response time: Online chat therapy may have a delayed response time due to the back-and-forth nature of text-based communication. This delay can make it difficult for clients and therapists to engage in real-time conversation, which may lead to misunderstandings or misinterpretations.
Limited effectiveness for some conditions: While online chat therapy is effective for many mental health conditions, it may not be suitable for some severe conditions, such as psychosis or severe depression. Clients with these conditions may require more intensive treatment than what online chat therapy can provide.
Tips for Making the Most of Online Chat Therapy
Be honest and open: Online chat therapy relies on communication, so it’s essential to be honest and open with your therapist. Express your thoughts and feelings clearly, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for clarification.
Create a comfortable environment: Find a quiet and comfortable place to conduct your online chat therapy sessions. Eliminate distractions and ensure that you have a stable internet connection.
Set goals: Establish clear goals for your therapy sessions with your therapist. This will help you and your therapist stay focused on what you want to achieve.
Be patient: Online chat therapy can take time to be effective, so it’s essential to be patient and committed to the process.
Conclusion
In conclusion, online chat therapy offers a convenient and effective solution for those seeking mental health support. It can help clients access therapy from anywhere in the world, affordably and without compromising on privacy. However, it’s important to keep in mind that online chat therapy may not be the best fit for everyone and that it may have some limitations. But with clear communication, a comfortable environment, and a willingness to engage in the process, online chat therapy can provide much-needed support and guidance for a wide range of mental health concerns.

On the evening/afternoon of 19 November, I drew a couple portrait of Teyrungümü (Tey) and Aida Del Pilar (Pili) in Colombia, via Zoom, for my #NickDrawsNationals Covid art project. We’d tried to connect for this sitting for over a year, but never quite found the time in our busy lives. We were introduced by an Indian astronomer I met in 2017 at a science-art festival in Goa. Two of the couple’s friends, in the US and Wales, joined us via Zoom as English-Spanish translators. Tey is from a small indigenous village high in the Sierra Nevada, while Pili comes from Bogotá, the capital city. They met when Tey was at university, and now have a little son together, who ran into shot for hugs a few times. Pili once lived in Europe, but was drawn back to her homeland. She also has a teenage daughter who lives between Spain and Colombia. Tey and Pili’s hands were busy crafting throughout our meeting. He reached into a woven sack on his lap, and burnished a stick against a gourd. I later learnt this is a sacred ‘poporo’: the gourd contains lime made from crushed and burnt seashells, with which he ritualistically chews coca leaves from the bag. He said it’s a source of deep female energy. Pili was finger-knitting another such bag. They told me these craft processes record our meeting into the very fibres of their creations. In my own way, I too was recording our encounter through my hand-drawn portrait. Connecting with nature and Colombia’s folk traditions has been a big part of their relationship. During lockdown they were stuck in Bogotá city, and Tey felt homesick for the village where he grew up. People back there could continue with daily life – for geographic and cultural reasons their contact with non-indigenous people is infrequent – and they were surprised to hear of urban confinement. Lately, post-pandemic, Pili and Tey have been involved in a science outreach project, developing cross-cultural understanding of astronomy and people’s place in the Cosmos. #nickdrawsneighbours #drawing #portrait #portraitdrawing #portraiture #birodrawing #ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpoint #neighbours #sketching #artinlockdown #artinisolation #isolationart #NickDrawsNationals (at Portslade, West Sussex, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CloW942Ib47/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
