Guys you have to start going to brick and mortar stores again instead of buying every little damn thing online. I am so serious
#saying this bc look I don’t like joann’s fabrics as much as the next person#but looking at the chap 11 closures is truly hellish. we only have 3 of these stores in our state and they’re closing two of them#and I can’t help but think about how few options those communities will have to get anything afordable once they’re gone#and I’ve looked it up multiple times for my own purposes: there are so few fabric stores elsewhere in the state. like these go down#and online shopping will be the only option. and especially with something like fabric that can be a huge problem!#sometimes the websites can be reliable enough to tell you thread count and weave and weight but there are soooo many websites that do not#so you could easily get stuck with some fucked fabric and then what!#not to mention on top of shipping shit can get super fucking expensive real quick#and sure joanns is faaaaar from perfect but jesus at least I can go there and scope out the fabric properly#I’m lucky my own local joanns is staying open but holy fuck it’s so bad!!!#like does nobody else see that buying everything online is draining places of local resources and furthering our enslavement to capitalism?#or is it just fucking me????#god DAMN#also this should go without saying that you absolutely should shop local places first too#but like also I get it bc even one of my local places sells their linen for like 40 bucks a yard which is nuts so just. please as long as#you’re not feeding the devil called amazon for god’s sake

Once you care even a little bit about proper fish care the way you see people treat them becomes maddening
#I’m just trying to look at cute videos of other peoples fish online and EVERY OTHER VIDEO is abuse#like YES part of it is the culture surrounding fish as ‘easy pets’#like they’re stupid animals with short lifespans that don’t require time or respect#or worse: that they’re NOT EVEN ANIMALS and are just colorful moving decorations#and YES part of it is also big companies!#they know that if you learn how much properly caring for a fish actually costs they won’t get your snap decision sale#so it’s more profitable in the long run to sell cheap shitty tanks or bowls to you#because it doesn’t matter if your new pet dies. they’ve already made the sale#but part of it is ALSO that people REFUSE to do research#we live in a world where finding out the proper care for an animal takes 5 seconds#it takes you FIVE seconds to find out all the information you’ve been told about fish being easy pets is a lie#you wouldn’t just buy only what the employee at the store says to buy if you’re getting a dog or cat would you? you would look things up!#you would look things up and find out there’s more to it! or just double check and make sure!#but like I already said people don’t see fish as animals to take care of. they’re snap decision impulse buys for you to set up as decoration#and like man. I’m guilty of that too! I’ve done the same thing! but I was a kid when I did that. I’m an adult now#and I’m horrified at the abuse these animals went through.#whatever. there’s not a point to this rant#I’m just tired of seeing the shit fish go through as pets#if I could I’d start a rescue tbh#I love fish. wonderful animals

i cannot stand the convo on goth clothing here sometimes for so many reasons but, and while i can understand it in some contexts, i like the goth isnt actually expensive talk. Goth is primarily focused in music and  the range of styles is massive- If you want that victorian  / lolita style then yeah that, will be expensive. Goth is more than Trad Goth?!
Actually thinking about it any time this comes up goth is always paired with punk and like, while theirs similarities theres also. Differences. Punk is DIY some goth fashion like trad is DIY but obviously sometimes it will be pricier.

Physical media is really awesome but please don’t discount sites like Bandcamp where you can buy DRM-free digital media. Buying raw media files lets you:
- Store a collection of millions of songs on a single hard drive (or burn them to CDs yourself!)
- Directly support artists, even those without the time/clout/resources to sell physical media
- With 20 minutes of effort, share your media library with anyone, anywhere, as much as you want.
Giant publishing companies are trying *really hard* to convince everyone that digital media is synonymous with you-don’t-own-shit streaming services, eternal subscription fees, and locked-down snoopscope video players. But there’s a reason so many artists sell their works online without those catches. Go support them!

I do hold scorn for people in weed states I do. I really do. The way your stupid 21 year old ass can go to the weed store and buy weed. The way your stupid 21 year old ass can buy weed online not a care in the world. And you have so much to choose from. You have so much fucking gorrila cumshot big fat load of cum horse cock mega 1 billion tch % to choose from and they all got different names and when our good texan plugs come home from colorado they bring that poison with them. They bring that poison home to us. And the people of texas, we're smoking that poison. Were smoking that filthy filthy colorado 10000 thc shit, and were dying. Were dying out here. The soil down here is lerfect for weed. If we could have weed we could create, beautiful poison. Way more toxic than colorodo. Way more toxic than california. We can make weed so insane, bitched from colorado will come down here, to smoke OUR poison. And WE could name it shit like Ram Ranch. We could name it shit like Horse Erection. We could name it shit like, I dont know, Forget The Alamo. YOU, worthless idiots up north, can smoke our latino magic. You dont got tejanos. You dont got our technology. You don't got what it takes. You dont know what its like. Theyre not legalizing weed down here cause they hate us. You know they do. You know for a fact they do. So yeah. Just think before you spark up with that shit you got down the street trouble free. Do so in my name. In our name. Keep the less fortunate in mind. I HOPE THE CIELING FAN FALLS ON YOU

Does anyone remember what happened to Radio Shack?
They started out selling niche electronics supplies. Capacitors and transformers and shit. This was never the most popular thing, but they had an audience, one that they had a real lock on. No one else was doing that, so all the electronics geeks had to go to them, back in the days before online ordering. They branched out into other electronics too, but kept doing the electronic components.
Eventually they realize that they are making more money selling cell phones and remote control cars than they were with those electronic components. After all, everyone needs a cellphone and some electronic toys, but how many people need a multimeter and some resistors?
So they pivoted, and started only selling that stuff. All cellphones, all remote control cars, stop wasting store space on this niche shit.
And then Walmart and Target and Circuit City and Best Buy ate their lunch. Those companies were already running big stores that sold cellphones and remote control cars, and they had more leverage to get lower prices and selling more stuff meant they had more reasons to go in there, and they couldn't compete. Without the niche electronics stuff that had been their core brand, there was no reason to go to their stores. Everything they sold, you could get elsewhere, and almost always for cheaper, and probably you could buy 5 other things you needed while you were there, stuff Radio Shack didn't sell.
And Radio Shack is gone now. They had a small but loyal customer base that they were never going to lose, but they decided to switch to a bigger but more fickle customer base, one that would go somewhere else for convenience or a bargain. Rather than stick with what they were great at (and only they could do), they switched to something they were only okay at... putting them in a bigger pond with a lot of bigger fish who promptly out-competed them.
If Radio Shack had stayed with their core audience, who knows what would have happened? Maybe they wouldn't have made a billion dollars, but maybe they would still be around, still serving that community, still getting by. They may have had a small audience, but they had basically no competition for that audience. But yeah, we only know for sure what would happen if they decided to attempt to go more mainstream: They fail and die. We know for sure because that's what they did.
I don't know why I keep thinking about the story of what happened to Radio Shack. It just keeps feeling relevant for some reason.

my college gives every student a college email for important shit, and i didn’t even get my email until recently (i should have had it earlier bc i need to find out how to schedule classes and learn important shit), and it had a pre-made password, which i was required to change to my own. so i did. and then i tried to add the email account to my email app and. it. WONT. LET. ME
ive probably changed my password ten different times, but it keeps telling me the password is “incorrect.” no, bitch, it’s not. i wrote it down. i copy and pasted it. i reset the password. i tried waiting a week to sign in, thinking maybe my repeated tries locked me out. i tried unlocking the account from the college’s website, and it told me i could “sign in without the password” BUT I CANT. IT’S NOT WORKING. IM LITERALLY GOING TO SCREAM AND CRY

Incorrect Quotes from Damian Wayne/Reader.
Tumblr media
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian, looking at a Reader action figure in a store.*
Damian: "I need her. She's perfect. She's perfect."
*Jon, sighing next to him.*
Jon: "Damian, you already have three different versions of that figure. One even in limited edition."
Damian: "But this one has *new* details. It's an investment in my love!"
Jon: "It's an investment in madness, that's what it is."
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian reading Reader fanfics on Wattpad.*
Jon, peering over Damian's shoulder: "Are you... reading Reader fanfics?"
Damian, eyes still on the screen: "It's a way for me to get closer to her. Writers understand our love."
Jon: "Damian... Are you leaving comments on those fanfics?"
Damian, very serious: "Yes, I have to correct anything that isn't true to her true essence."
── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian at a comic convention, dressed as Robin, but with a 'Team Reader' sign.*
Jon, raising an eyebrow: "Damian, this is already crossing the boundaries of reality."
Damian: "Only those who don't understand true love would set boundaries."
Jon: "I have a hard time understanding how you haven't realized she's... you know, fictional."
Damian, looking at the poster with pride: "Love doesn't have to be real to be true."
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian buying a replica of Reader's sword from an online store.*
Jon: "Do you really need another replic of her sword?"
Damian: "This one is different. It has engravings depicting our times together."
Jon: "Damian, you *haven't* had any times together."
Damian, indignant: "That's a lie! Every time I read her comic, we go on epic adventures. You don't understand!"
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian watching an animated series where Reader appears, completely mesmerized.*
Jon, entering the room: "Watching the Reader series again?"
Damian: "It's not just a series, Jon. It's a masterpiece. Every scene is a poem."
Jon: "It's a cartoon series. And you obsess over it like it's real."
Damian, eyes shining: "For me, it is."
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian buying a pillow with Reader's face on it.*
Jon: "Damian, this is the limit. A pillow with her face on it?"
Damian: "It's to have her close, even when I sleep. It's a basic need."
Jon, resigned: "A basic need is to breathe, Damian. Not this."
Damian: "If I can't be with her, at least I can dream about her."
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
*Damian secretly writing fanfics about him and Reader.*
Jon, catching him in the middle of writing: "What are you doing?"
Damian, trying to hide the screen: "Nothing! Just... creating a masterpiece."
Jon, peeking: "Are you writing a fanfic about you and Reader?"
Damian: "It's not a fanfic! It's... our love story. One day it will be real."
Jon: "Damian, we need to have a long conversation about reality and fantasy."
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
This shit definitely cracks me up, you can tell i made Damian a bit Ooc but it's just to make this humorous. It reminds me of my high school self, in love with pure fictional character.

I used to work at JoAnn's and let me give you a tip. Don't buy fabric there if you can help it. It's overpriced low quality crap. You can absolutely find fabric for just as cheap online and if you're a "have to touch it before I know if I'll hate it or not" person lots of online places sell samples.
Case in point: Robert Kaufman Kona solids. I've seen claims online that the Kona solid quilting cotton, which is the highest quality quilting cotton solids JoAnn's sells, is different and lower quality than the Kona cotton you can get at a quilt shop. I can't speak to the validity of those claims but I 100% would not be surprised if it were true. But let's set that aside and just see how JoAnn's prices measure up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, the regular price at JoAnn's is $9.99. The regular price at this random quilting online store I spent 20 seconds on duckduckgo to find is $7.95. Sure, the sale price is 15¢ cheaper at JoAnn's. But JoAnn's is constantly playing this "our fabrics are cheap because they're on sale! Don't look at how much they regularly cost anywhere else" psychological warfare game which I do NOT appreciate.
I'm sure if you looked harder than the 20 seconds I spent on duckduckgo you could find Kona cotton for cheaper than JoAnn's has it and you wouldn't have to wonder about the quality claims. And all their fabric is like this. Maybe a decade ago it was a good deal but now? There's a reason they've gone bankrupt.
Just because I could, I compared fabric wholesale direct's price for solid color polyester Jersey knit fabric, which is regularly priced at $5.99 and is currently on sale for $5.09. JoAnn's comparable fabric starts again at $9.99/yard and that fabric is currently on sale for $6.99. There are 10 colors of the JoAnn's $6.99 fabric and 45 colors of the FWD $5.09 fabric FWD does free shipping over $99 and flat rate shipping at $7.95 for anything below that. Depending on how much you buy, you'll potentially be paying the same or less for the FWD fabric and 1. It's probably higher quality and 2. There's 4 times as many color options.
JoAnn's is good for if you need less than a yard and have the time and ability to go to the store in person. And yeah, if you're shopping in person, you don't have to pay shipping. But the quality of all their fabric is low and the "sale" prices are around the same as a place with higher quality fabric.
I buy embroidery floss and thread at JoAnn's cuz embroidery floss is cheaper in person than on DMC's website and you can't trust product photos of thread to be color accurate. And I buy sewing notions there sometimes cuz it's convenient. But even the scissors I spent $30 on there a decade ago (who knows how much they are now) were $17 at Walmart when I lost the first pair and had to replace them 4 years later.
Also they treat their employees like shit and currently no one besides store managers gets health insurance through them because the only full time position in their stores is the store manager. And even before the bankruptcy they shortstaffed and did everything in their power to avoid paying for benefits and overtime. It was the worst job I ever had and that's saying something because I worked at Walmart and had a "this creepy guy went to JAIL over what he did to me" experience there.
