Helpdesk for GMAIL support: making customer handling easy
When a customer mails a query it can happen that a couple of team members, responsible for responding to customer queries, reply to the same mail. This is just a waste of time and resources. In order to better utilize the manpower you can add extensions to your GMAIL after which the team members can directly receive and reply to the customers giving them the best support possible. It also enables them to save answers for the similar type of questions asked by the customers, which they can automatically get added to the mail and can also be personalized as per the requirement.
Tumblr media
Helpdesk for GMAIL support are services that combine with GMAIL and help the customer with better support and save their time. With their help you can directly add functionalities of customer care in to your inbox. If you do business online, customers send you emails and unfortunately plain email doesn’t works when a team of people are helping customers and you end up replying the same person multiple times and lose track on who responded to what. So you can develop a helpdesk but that is complex and expensive to set up. All you need are GMAIL extensions that add helpdesk functionalities directly to your mailbox. It lets everyone in your team respond to support emails and offers awesome features and designs to help you deliver better and faster customer service.
Tumblr media
“Keeping” is one such provider of help desk for GMAIL support. It allows all the team members to receive emails, respond to them and assign their support directly through their individual mailbox. A new section is created where all the support emails are received and remain separated from normal mails. This collaboration of emails allows the team to reply to the emails from their mailbox directly. The other benefit is automatically replying to same questions over and over again. Whenever there is a new email an automatic response is generated based on the previous responses and in case there are no matches then a new reply can be generated and saved in case in the future there are similar questions being asked. Whenever you are replying to a customer there is an option that takes you to the list of answers and from there you can select the most suitable response thus saving the time taken in replying to every query. These replies can also be customized as per the needs.
Tumblr media
Not just the above but it can also help you with measuring certain important metrics in order to help you find out ways to better help the customers. With the help of Keeping you can access reports that can turn out to be important for you in order to improve the productivity of the team. You can track down the number of emails processed and the time taken by the team members to respond to them. By tracking these metrics you can explore where your team is lacking and you can thus improve on those areas.

Just a handful of massive companies, with wealth greater than some countries, controls almost every aspect of the internet. They can decide which voices to amplify or silence, which businesses to boost or crush (or acquire), and what personal data they will collect and monetize, all with almost no accountability or oversight.
This centralization of power into the hands of a few multinational corporations runs counter to the original dream of a free, open, and fair internet. And as the events of recent years have shown, they are a threat to democracy.
In December 2020, the European Commission released its proposal for the Digital Markets Act (DMA), the EU’s attempt to curtail Big Tech’s power and revive competition on the internet. Like the flurry of American antitrust investigations, the DMA is a sign that politicians finally have recognized how much Big Tech has abused its ever-growing power over the past decade.
As a company dedicated to building a better internet for all, we have been following the developments in the EU closely and we support the DMA. We’ve created this analysis to help our community better understand the issues around the DMA and what it would do.
But there is also a strong caveat: This regulation will only be as effective as its enforcement. The EU must devote the resources necessary to fundamentally shift the balance of power on the internet back into the hands of people.
Who does the DMA apply to?
The DMA is a set of rules that target “gatekeeper platforms,” which are massive tech companies that control “core platform services” of the internet that link a business and its customers. A gatekeeper can control more than one core platform service, and many of them do. The DMA contains a list of what are considered core platform services, which includes search engines, social networking services, certain messaging services, and operating systems. The European Commission can also add services to that list as necessary.
In many cases, these core platform services function as a bottleneck, forcing all companies to use the same tool to reach the vast majority of their market. Controlling these bottlenecks gives a gatekeeper platform immense power to effectively cut off a company from the segment of the market it controls. Think of how Apple controls which apps it allows on its mobile devices or how Google controls which companies will be the first search result. This control coupled with Big Tech’s global scale has given these companies unprecedented power.
To ensure that it does not hinder companies that are still developing, the DMA’s rules would only apply to gatekeeper platforms that have met all of the following criteria for the past three years:
Achieve either an average market capitalization of at least €65 billion — or have an annual turnover of at least €6.5 billion in the European Economic Area (EEA)
Have at least 45 million monthly active end users within the EU
Have at least 10,000 yearly active business users within the EU
(It is slightly more complicated than this, but these are the important standards to know.)
The DMA only targets the truly massive corporations. This way, companies and potential competitors to the Big Tech monopolists are not burdened with undue regulation.
What does the DMA do?
The DMA rules would impose a number of obligations on gatekeepers. These obligations are intended to prevent them from abusing their power and engaging in anti-competitive behavior. They do not address free speech on the internet or how to govern it (that is covered in the EU’s proposed Digital Services Act). Think of the DMA as essentially a list of “Dos” and “Don’ts” for Big Tech. Some of the most important obligations are listed below:
Article 5(a) — Don’t mix personal data without a user’s explicit consent This would prevent gatekeepers from combining personal data collected from their core platform services with personal data collected from other services or from a data broker without explicit consent. It would also prevent them from forcing you to automatically sign in to all of a gatekeeper’s services if you only want to sign in to one. Example: Google would not be able combine the data it has collected from you with commercially available data, like your credit score. You would also be able to sign in to Gmail without signing in to all of Google’s services.
Article 5(c) — Do allow business users to promote offers to end users In effect, gatekeepers would be required to allow businesses to inform their customers about alternative purchase options. Example: Apple would have to let app developers inform their users of cheaper subscription offers that are available via their website in the App Store.
Article 5(e) — Don’t force business users to adopt the platform’s authentication system. Businesses could still choose to use the gatekeeper’s ID system, but it would not be required. Example: An app developer would be allowed to create their own ID system for their app and Google would not be able to force them to use its ID system.
Article 5(f) — Don’t cross-tie core products. Gatekeepers would not be able to force users to sign up for one of its core services as a precondition to getting access to another of its services or products. Gatekeepers’ products and services would be available to users separately. Example: Users would be able to access the Android operating system without a Gmail account.
Article 6(a) — Don’t spy on business users to gain an unfair competitive advantage. Currently, gatekeepers can use private data from their platform and monitor their business users’ data to determine how to place, price, and advertise competing goods or services. The DMA would ban this practice. Example: Amazon would no longer be able to use its search results data to determine what goods to clone and start selling itself.
Article 6(b) — Do allow users to uninstall any pre-installed software applications Gatekeepers would have to allow their users to uninstall any pre-installed software applications that are not essential to running the hardware. Example: You would be able to delete the pre-installed calendar or calculator apps on your smartphone.
Article 6(c) — Do allow third-party app stores and users to side-load apps. Under the DMA, gatekeepers would only be allowed to prevent third-party app stores if they damage or undermine the “integrity of the hardware or operating system.” Gatekeepers would not be able to prevent users from accessing services they acquired outside their platform. Example: Apple would not be able to block users from downloading apps that are not in the App Store.
Article 6(d) — Don’t give preference to platforms’ own products in rankings. Gatekeepers would not be able to unfairly rank their own products and services more favorably than their competitors.
Article 6(e) — Don’t lock users in. Gatekeepers would not be able to technically restrict users from deleting apps or switching away from default apps. They also would not be able to force users to use a particular internet service provider.
Article 6(f) — Do make platforms interoperable with other service providers. Gatekeepers would have to make their platforms open to some key third-party service providers, like payment providers, digital identity providers, or ad-tech sellers, on the same terms as their own services.
Article 6(h) — Do make data portable and continuously accessible in real time. Gatekeepers would have to give all users the ability to download their data and take it to a rival. They would also have to make both end and business user data continuously accessible in real time to their competitors.
Article 6(i) — Do give businesses access to their own data. Gatekeepers would have to give business users real-time, continuous access to high-quality data from the gatekeepers’ platform about their sales, customers, and other commercial activity.
Article 6(k) — Do provide fair and nondiscriminatory access to app stores. The DMA states that gatekeepers that manage app stores would have to accept apps onto their platform in a fair and nondiscriminatory manner.
What happens if a company violates a DMA obligation?
The DMA currently states that the European Commission alone will be responsible for enforcement, meaning they would investigate any alleged violations and hand out penalties to any gatekeepers that violate the DMA’s new rules.
The authors of the DMA seem to understand the size of the companies they are trying to rein in. In fact, these companies are so large, they regularly set aside billions of dollars just to pay regulatory fines. In light of this, gatekeepers that violate the DMA would face:
Fines of up to 10% of the company’s total worldwide annual turnover Example: Facebook’s global revenue for 2019 was $71 billion. It could, therefore, be subject to a $7.1 billion fine.
Periodic penalty payments of up to 5% of the average daily turnover for ongoing infractions
And if a company repeatedly or systematically violates its DMA obligations as a gatekeeper, the Commission could impose additional penalties, including potential “structural remedies” (e.g., being forced to sell parts of the business).
The DMA could change the internet
Proton supports the DMA as a welcome recognition that it is time to stop letting Big Tech run the internet.
As an organization dedicated to defending fundamental human rights and democracy. Big Tech’s accumulation of power has been an ongoing concern. Before we can create an internet that puts people first, we need to end the monopolies’ domination. The DMA targets many of the most egregious abuses over the past decade, especially in the mobile device sector.
If the DMA’s obligations are enforced quickly and vigorously, they have the potential to change the very business model many of the gatekeepers rely upon. Several of the DMA’s obligations, such as the prohibition on mixing gatekeeper data and commercially available data, would make it harder for companies like Google and Facebook to monetize users’ personal data.
And if these companies continuously violate the DMA, the Commission could force Google to divest from YouTube (or Facebook from Instagram).
The DMA’s success or failure will come down to how the current draft’s principles are fleshed out into actual provisions that can be implemented and how the Commission decides to pursue enforcement. Big Tech has been cementing its position for years, so it is important that the EU gets the DMA correct from the beginning. Every delay gives tech monopolists more time to further entrench their advantages.
One cause for concern is the amount of manpower the European Commission is calling for. According to recent documents, the task group that will lead DMA enforcement is to be composed of 80 individuals, which seems woefully inadequate given their task’s scope and complexity. Further, the Commission suggests creating this team only after the DMA is enacted, meaning they could be stuck playing catch up.
The GDPR is a pertinent example. The GDPR has been successful in giving users a greater window into which companies have access to their data. The DMA is also taking inspiration from the GDPR in that it is legislation that aspires to be global in its impact. Unfortunately, the current DMA proposal did not learn from the GDPR’s mistake of not having national data protection agencies fully staffed when the GDPR was implemented. This staffing lag meant that it took over a year before any major penalties for GDPR infractions were handed out.
Advocating for a strong DMA
We are now entering a critical phase of the DMA. Big Tech is going to try to exert all its influence to water down the DMA obligations and their enforcement, precisely because it would expose them to true competition. European citizens and independent tech companies must prevent these lobbying efforts from succeeding.
We will go into greater depth on how we would like to see the DMA bolstered and implemented in another blog post.
If you live in Europe and want an internet that respects your security, privacy, and freedom, contact your MEP and tell them you support a strong DMA that is actively enforced.
The DMA represents the best chance society has had in years to check Big Tech’s power and break up the monopolists.

HOW YOU BUY A STARTUP
When eminent visitors came to see us, we were a bit sheepish about the low production values. Obviously that's false: anything else people make can be well or badly designed; why should this be uniquely impossible for programming languages? The urge to look corporate—sleek, commanding, prudent, yet with just a touch of hubris on your well-cut sleeve—is an unexpected development in a time of business disgrace. In fact, they're lucky by comparison. And if they're driven to such empty forms of complaint, that means you're doing something rather than sitting around, which is the reason that high-tech areas only happen around universities. Scientists don't learn science by doing it. He's now considered the best of that period—and yet not do as good work, on an absolute scale, as you would if you were a specimen under their all-seeing microscope, and make it seem as if he saw it as a drawback of senility, many companies embrace it as a valuable source of tips—more like manning a mental health hotline. The European approach reflects the old idea that new things come from the margins? Sure, it can be interesting if it poses novel technical challenges.
The whole tone is bogus. Someone like Bill Gates can grow a company under him, but it's confusing intellectually. The most important way to not spend money is by not hiring people. But when I consider what it would take to reproduce Silicon Valley in Japan, because one of Silicon Valley's most distinctive features is immigration. It's probably because you have to find peers for yourself, you stop learning from this. They happily set to work proving theorems like the other mathematicians over in the math department had the job of replying to people who like unions, because it takes less time to serve founders than to micromanage them. But it will be a good time to start any company that competes by litigation rather than by making good products. But I didn't realize why. Doctors discovered that several of his arteries were over 90% blocked and 3 days later he had a quadruple bypass.
GMail. The monolithic, hierarchical companies of the mid 20th century are being replaced by networks of smaller companies. It sounded promising. It must once have been inhabited by someone fairly eccentric, because a they may be on the board of someone who will buy you, and if you love to hack you'll inevitably be working on projects of your own. And since success in a startup, than smart users. Let's start with the most basic question: will the future be better or worse it looks as if Europe will in a few decades speak a single language. Even a bad cook can make a difference. When I finished grad school in computer science I went to visit my family twice. I was a philosophy major in college. Not wanting to blow such a public commission, he'd play it safe and make the talk a list of n things. And though this feels stressful, it's one reason startups win.
This talk was written for an audience of investors. They're like dealers; they sell the stuff, but they haven't followed it to its conclusion. Up till a few years ago, writing essays was the ultimate insider's game. Google understands a few other things most Web companies still don't. Junior professors are fired by default after a few years ago, it turned out to vary a lot. Do you need a San Francisco? What fraction of the smart people who want to live where the smartest people and get them to come to your country.
If you're lucky you can get in three words. We never even considered that approach. But regardless of whether patents are in general a good thing, but slower. These problems aren't intrinsically difficult, just unfamiliar. I put the lower bound at 23 not because there's something that doesn't happen to your brain till then, but because it gives them more control. After all, as most VCs say, they're more interested in the people who create technology, and some may look quite different from universities. Young startups are fragile. That's the way to do that, you have to say actually is a list of n things is that we get on average only about 5-7% of a much larger number of neanderthals in suits. 7 billion, and the doctors figure out what's wrong. And I can see why political incorrectness would be a way to get to know good hackers. Getting money from an actual VC firm is a bigger deal than getting money from angels.
Universities and research labs—partly because talent is harder to judge, and partly because people pay for these things, so one doesn't need to rely on teaching or research funding to support oneself. Email was not designed to be used the way we now know something like our weight. Paris has the best eavesdropping I know. Although a lot of people to help them. What difference does it make how many others there are? A rounds are not determined by asking what would be best for the companies. You can't fight market forces forever. And if you're a quiet, law-abiding citizen most of the good people will be outsiders. Politics, like religion, is a concept known to nearly all makers: the day job. More people are the right sort of person who could get away with hiring thugs to beat up union leaders today, but if you're a technology company, their thoughts are your product. Microsoft's original plan was to make money, you tend to be in a place where you can win big by taking the bold approach to design, and having the same people both design and implement the product. Whatever you make will have to be some mechanism to prevent people from saying everything is important.
That's why oil paintings look so different from watercolors. The reason these conventions are more dangerous is that they can do original work. But we knew it was possible to start a startup today, there are only three places I'd consider doing it: on the Red Line near Central, Harvard, or Davis Squares Kendall is too sterile; in Palo Alto on University or California Aves; and in Berkeley immediately north or south of campus. They also wanted very much to get rich, startup founders will almost automatically fund and encourage new startups. Whatever you build, make it fast. In those days you could go public as a dogfood portal, so as a company. Even hackers can't tell. The conversations you overhear. It seemed possible to start a startup when they meet people who've done it. Maybe it would be between a boss and an employee. The difficulty of firing people is a drop in the bucket by immigration standards, but would apologize abjectly if there was any signal left.
But the problem is more than just deciding how to implement some spec. Outsiders don't have to content themselves anymore with a proxy audience of a few smart friends. Then I realized: maybe not. It's natural for US universities to compete with focus is to see what it's like in an existing business before you try running your own. And indeed, you can watch them learn by doing. Good PR firms use the same simple-minded model. They don't have time to work. One of the exhilarating things about coming back to Cambridge every spring is walking through the streets at dusk, when you can see into the houses. In the US things are more haphazard. At the time, were worth several million dollars. A real essay, as the name implies, is dynamic: you don't know very well, you can compete with delegation by working on larger vertical slices, you can manufacture them by taking any project usually done by multiple people and trying to do it, do it. It can get you factories for building things designed elsewhere.

An Introduction to cloud services
An Introduction to cloud services
Tumblr media
Featured Image Courtesy: https://www.esds.co.in
In this online guide, you will be getting an introduction to cloud services. This includes the conceptual understanding on what cloud computing is all about.  You will be having a look at some of the product specific applications used by industries across the world. You will also have an overall understanding on what the benefits of cloud computing are. Breaking it down step by step for you to learn and understand:
What is meant by cloud computing?
Cloud Computing refers to the process by which you can store and access programs on the internet. Instead of saving them on your computer’s hard drive. It also refers to the on-demand delivery of computer resources. Cloud computing servers can access huge volumes of data pertaining to storage, processing and retrieval.
Explore the benefits of cloud computing
Cloud computing devices help you store and access huge volumes of data in a hassle-free manner. You do not have to own your own computing data structure. Or run computer centers. You can hire access to almost anything from applications to storage. This is through hiring cloud servers.
This is one of the major advantages of using cloud computing services. Firms or companies can save on their upfront costs of owning their own computing infrastructure. This is in terms of holding huge servers and a network of interconnected computers. They just have to upload or hire a cloud computing service. This way, companies or individuals pay for what they use. They can also determine when to use it.
Cloud computing service providers immensely benefit by providing services to a wide range of customers. This way, they make their margins via significant economies of scale. Hence, cloud computing is a win-win situation for both consumers and service providers.
Types of cloud computing services you can acquire
As far as cloud computing services are concerned, you have quite a number of options to choose from.
You can buy or hire a basic cloud computing server for storing or accessing your data. Offices can hire cloud computing servers that help them work with standard office applications. High end corporates or multinational firms hire cloud computing services with a much enhanced processing power. This way, they can feed info via their natural language. Through processors, the info automatically gets translated into Business English. The cloud servers are also pioneered with Artificial Intelligence or AI mechanisms.
Examples of cloud computing
Do you want to know about some of the common applications that are supported by cloud computing servers? Then, here we go. You have Gmail offering you with cloud access to your photos. If you connect the photos stored on smartphones, you can have instant access to them via screen sharing spaces like desktops and laptops too.
Netflix relies on cloud computing services to stream its live videos online. Cloud computing is now becoming a default app that software vendors install to computers, laptops, desktops and smartphones supporting IoS and Android. This is apart from giving these devices with Wi-fi or usage of the internet. Though you have exceptional storage facilities added on, you also have a potential downside added to it. It can introduce new costs and add risks for companies using the same.
Cloud computing- significance behind its name
Cloud computing mainly relies on the service location, the hardware and the Operating System on which it is connected with. This way, it sends info, receives data packets and hands them over to consumers. The metaphor named Cloud was borrowed from network semantics.
Just as phones were connected to the internet, you have cloud computing devices, connected to services, that can provide the end-users with a cloud of stuff. In other words, you have an endless repository of data or info that is stored, accessed and retrieved. That is how the range of data storage and accessibility servers were named cloud computing services.
Future markets for cloud computing
There is a huge scope for a variety of cloud computing services. More than 1/3rd of all IT companies across the world support cloud computing. Computer overhauling is slowly transitioning itself to the cloud-computing mode.
According to Gartner, the global spending on cloud computing is expected to touch the US $ 300 billion mark. Even new businesses, like start-ups and venture share capital firms want to use cloud computing, on account of its huge data handling capacity.
Models of cloud computing
There are three main models with respect to a host of cloud computing services. These are:
Infrastructure-as-a service or IaaS
Platform-as-a service or PaaS and
Software-as-a service or SaaS.
Let us have a brief gist on what each model is all about:
Infrastructure-as-a service or IaaS
IaaS refers to the physical component of computing devices. As said before, these are hired or rented out. These include
Physical or Virtual servers
Storage devices and
Networking devices.
As you can hire or rent them, companies find this option to be a very attractive one. They hire the physical infrastructure at a nominal price. This way, one can build applications from scratch. Companies can control all elements of processing or executing, by themselves.
But one needs to have the technical know-how or knowledge to be able to orchestrate services at that level. Research specialists at Oracle have confirmed that 2/3rd of IaaS users find it easier to use and manage online infrastructure. This way, things become easier to innovate. You can also significantly cut down the time taken to develop new applications and services. Not only that, you can also cut down a sizable portion of ongoing maintenance costs.
Platform-as-a service or PaaS
Platform-as-a service or PaaS, is the next layer of cloud computing services. The underlying storage, networking and virtual servers also include tools and software, developers or data specialists, want to build their apps on. Database management systems, Operating systems, middle-ware and development tools belong to this category.
Software-as-a service or SaaS
Software-as-a service refers to the delivery of applications. This is the version of cloud computing, most people work with conveniently, on a day to day basis. The underlying hardware or operating systems have a technical know-how or expertise added to it. While SaaS is a tailor made version of application services via a web browser or an app. Even common man can work with SaaS integrated applications.
In totality, SaaS comprises a neat blend of technology, applications and system infrastructure software. Customer Relationship Management or CRM databases and Enterprise Resource Application or ERM are dominated by SaaS based cloud computing. The industry might hit a trillion mark by 2025.
You have an end to end overview on what is cloud computing, how it is used and the leveraging benefits one can acquire from the same. An introduction to cloud services has therefore been made known to you in a nutshell.

Defining quotation styles with the <q> tag
When styling your site you may be happy with the "default, straight quotation style", but if you're keen on getting your typography just right then there is a way to ensure your quotation marks are “smart” via CSS.
As explained here, the HTML <q> element signals that the contained text is a short inline quotation. Most browsers implement this by surrounding the text in "quotation marks". You can, however, add a style to modify what automatically appears around the text:
q {  quotes: "“" "”"; }
It may be hard to make out in email, but this rule will wrap your inline quote with alternative 'smart' quotation marks. This blog post expands on how this simple tip can be used for multilingual sites, such as using differing quotation rules for different languages (like German).
Another idea is outlined in this recent blog post from Michael Lazarski, who shows how this technique can even be used with emoji for an 🙌 altogether different 🙌 approach.

Tech Support - Stuart Twombly
Author: @mf-despair-queen
Characters: Stuart Twombly/Reader
Word Count: 4619
Warnings: NSFW, 18+, Skype Sex, Masturbation, Oral (Female Receiving)
Notes: Shhh. I told @rememberstilinski and @ninja-stiles I would write them some Stuart stuff. Because Stuart is a babe and I couldn’t stop starting at him while I wrote other things. I guess Stuart is slowly beating out Stiles as my favorite since I write more for Stuart than anyone else?
Tumblr media
Stuart wasn’t particularly happy that he had to cover at the Google Helpline for a few weeks. He knew it was selfish to be mad at the guy he was filling the spot for. The guy who normally worked this spot had gotten into a car accident and was in the hospital. The doctors didn’t want to release for a while (Stuart wasn’t really sure why), which meant that someone needed to fill the spot until he returned.
Stuart also wasn’t sure why they had chosen him for the job. He wasn’t exactly the most social person at Google. Sure, he knew he was smart and could answer any question that came his way, but he was almost completely socially inept.
Stuart collapsed into the chair, putting his headset on. He dreaded the next few hours. This was exactly how he wanted to spend the day. Note the sarcasm, of course.
The phones rang off the hook, Stuart groaning each time he ended a call. Some of these questions were plain idiotic to him, and he wondered how people could even manage to work a computer properly. As his phone rang again, he rubbed his hand over his face and leaned his elbows on his desk.
“Thank you for calling Google Helpline. This is Stuart. How may I help you today?”
“Um…Hi Stuart. My name is Y/N. I’m having some trouble with my Gmail account…” your soft voice filled his ears and his heart jumped a little in his chest.  He wasn’t sure why, but a smile graced his lips.
“Well then, Y/N. Talk me through what’s going on and I will see how I can help. How does that sound?” He heard a soft giggle from you as he went about trying to help.
“Well…” You hesitated briefly, hoping not to sound stupid to Stuart. “My Gmail won’t load. I’ve never used it on my computer before. It always worked fine on my phone but I accidently threw my phone as this guy at McDonalds because he was being an ass.” You mentally slap yourself for telling him something like that. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to say that.”
Stuart laughed louder than he meant to, earning a couple of glances from the others in the room. “It’s fine, Y/N. I will go ahead and walk you through some steps and we will try to find the reason for this.”
He walked you through things, all while making small talk with you. He seemed like a nice guy, but it could always be an act because this is his job after all.
“Hey Y/N, if you don’t mind me asking, why exactly DID you throw your phone at that guy at McDonalds?” Stuart asked, while you were attempting to follow the instructions he previously gave me.
“He grabbed my ass while I was standing in line then pretended he didn’t know what I was talking about when I called him out on it. He followed me around the store and even sat at my table with me. When I tried to leave, he wouldn’t leave me alone so I threw my phone at him to get him to go away. It was the only thing in my hand and I didn’t even think about it till I was on the tile, crying over my shattered phone.” You told him, ashamed of the story you had just told him. It was not your proudest moment, that’s for sure.
He chuckled over the phone at you. “You must have nailed him pretty hard if it shattered your phone to the point that you can’t use it for your Gmail. But I’m sure he deserved it.”
I blushed, smiling into the phone. “Yeah, he did.” You swallowed the lump in your throat, not sure what else to say to him. “Oh look at that. Got Gmail working. You’re the best, Stuart. Thanks for all your help.”
Stuart frowned, not wanting the call to end so soon. “It’s no problem at all, Y/N. Please give us a call anytime you need help. I will be here all week to help you with your issues.”
You smiled into the phone, leaning back into the couch you were sitting on. “Definitely, Stuart. Have a great day.”
Stuart frowned as he hung up the call, removing the headset and dropping it onto his desk. He rubbed his hands over his face. He was crushing on a girl he had never met. This could not be happening to him. He shook his head, almost running from the room. He desperately needed air after that call.
You called every day for the next week and a half. You may have been purposefully causing issues just so you could call and talk to Stuart. Whenever he didn’t answer your helpline call, you requested to talk to him, giving the excuse that “Stuart has helped with this problem in the past, so he will know how to help me the most.” Luckily, no one ever questioned your pitiful excuse and transferred you to him on the spot.
Stuart wasn’t complaining. He enjoyed being able to talk to you every day. He felt like he was getting to know you little bits every time.
Today, you were having problems with your google wallet. Yes, you had entered some bogus information so it resulted in an error. You needed some reason to call and talk to him.
As you worked on fixing the issue per Stuart’s instructions, he was rather silent today. “Hey Stuart. Why are you so quiet today?”
“No reason really,” he replied shortly. “Just thinking.”
“Oh…ok. I got my wallet fixed. I appreciate you help Stuart.” You frowned, wiping a stray tear that escaped your eye. You weren’t even sure why you were crying. It’s not like you even knew the guy. “Have a great day.”
“Wait!” You jumped at the sudden reaction and dropped your phone on the ground.
“Shit!” You scrambled for the phone, falling off your bed in the process. Stuart heard the thump over his headset, and a long string of curses coming from your mouth. “I am so sorry Stuart! I dropped my phone. Did you need something?”
“I um…” Stuart gulped, his Adam’s Apple bobbed slightly with the action and his hand wrung the bottom of his shirt, nervous to even ask. “I was wonder…if I could actually get your phone number. I can’t see your phone number through the helpline and…I want to be able to talk to you outside of work too. I could even help you with all your technical difficulties too. If that’s ok with you of course! I don’t want to make you uncomfortable or anything. I mean um…”
Stuart trailed off, embarrassed he had even asked. He should just start apologizing now.
“Sure. Do you have a piece of paper ready?” Stuart blinked, unsure he even heard you right. He scrambled to find a piece of paper and a pen, digging through every drawer he had. Once he had found one, he happily wrote down your number. “Just let me know it is you whenever you text me. I can’t wait to hear from you then. Bye Stuart.”
“Same here. Bye Y/N.” Once he hung up the phone, he fist pumped the air, letting out a silent cheer. It was ridiculous to him that he liked you as much as he did. He had never seen you in person or knew who you were aside from the short phone conversations you had over the Google Helpline. He was happy, however, that he had gotten your number.
He texted you as soon as he got home that evening, and you guys spent hours texting each other. You wanted to know everything about each other.
You glanced at your phone as it vibrated for the millionth time that night.
[12:05 AM – From Stuart] So you never did tell me where you live exactly. Is it nice there?
[12:06 AM – To Stuart] Oh I didn’t? Well excuuuuuuse me princess. I live in San Fran of course!
[12:09 AM – From Stuart] Oh shit. Really??? So do I! We should totally meet up some time in person!
You bit your lip, hesitating on a reply. He was this close to you, and you never even realized that.
[12:19 AM – To Stuart] How am I supposed to meet you if I don’t even know what you look like?
You blushed and smacked yourself in the face. “What the hell did I just text him? I can’t believe I did that. He’s never going to want to talk to me again!” When your phone dinged again after a few minutes, you glanced at the display to see what he had sent.
[12:24 AM – From Stuart] -One image attached-
You dropped the phone in shock, landing with flop on your bed. He sent you a picture? Your shaky hand picked up the phone, clicking on the attachment he sent.
It was definitely a picture of Stuart. He was standing in from of a full-length mirror, showing off his full body in the picture. He was shirtless, his toned stomach in full view for you to drool over. His toned biceps were flexed slightly in the picture. The sweatpants he wore hung low on his waist, his v-lines distinct to you. A trail of hair led down his stomach, into his sweats, and you could only imagine what it led to. He had black rimmed glasses covering his eyes, but you could make out the distinct whiskey color behind them. His hair was sticking up in different directions, almost like he had just woken up to take the picture for you.
You stared at the picture a bit, the blush growing on your cheeks every time your eyes ran over it. Heat pooled between your legs and you rubbed them together where you sat, trying to relieve the pressure that was building. Your fingers flicked over the keyboard to respond, and you were grateful for autocorrect because you couldn’t spell properly at this point.
[12:29 AM – To Stuart] Holy shit. Fuck me man. Who knew the nerd that has been helping me on the Google Helpline was drop dead sexy?
[12:31 AM – From Stuart] I will take that as a compliment, even though you called me a nerd. And if you wanted me to fuck you that bad, you could have just asked.
You collapsed on your bed, your panties soaking wet from the last bit of that message. You couldn’t believe that he would say that.
[12:32 AM – From Stuart] Now do I get a picture in return? I want to see the beautiful face that matches the beautiful voice from the phone.
You glanced down at your outfit, wondering if it was acceptable to send to him. Your top was slightly see through so you could see your black bra with red lace under it. Your shorts barely covered your ass. You didn’t have any make-up on, and your hair was wrapped in a loose bun on the top of your head.
You took a deep breath before you stood in front of your mirror to take a picture for him. If he was going to send a sexy picture your way, you would return the favor.
[12:36 AM – To Stuart] -One image attached-
You chewed anxiously on your nails while you waited for a reply. You had never done anything like this, let alone with a guy you had never actually met in person before. You weren’t sure how he would respond to something like this. As soon as your phone dinged, you stopped breathing completely.
[12:44 AM – From Stuart] Holy fuck. You’re more beautiful than I would have ever imagined. I’m so hard for you right now.
You let out a small moan, before covering your mouth. Your thighs rubbed together more than before. You couldn’t take this guy seriously anymore. He was either fucking with you, or actually wanted to fuck you.
[12:48 AM – From Stuart] Do you have skype? Because I really want to talk to you right now, not just over texts.
You panicked, not sure if you should or not. You were flustered because of the texts this past hour, but you wanted to talk to him more as well. You texted him your skype name and grabbed your laptop off the table. You positioned it in front of you and tried to calm down before he called.
When his call finally came through, you were met with him slowly palming the tent he sported through his sweats. He groaned as soon as he saw you smiling at him. “Damn girl. Why are you so fucking pretty?”
You leaned forward, giving him a slight view down the front of your top. “I don’t know Stuart. You’re pretty eye catching yourself.”
He moaned, his eyes fixated on your chest. “Do you want to do something crazy?”
You eyed him slightly, shifting where you sat. “What would that be?”
“Masturbate with me.”
Your jaw dropped. “S-Stuart! You…” You swallowed, trying to think of what to say back to him. “You haven’t even had dinner with me yet. Why would we do something crazy like that?” Really? That was the best you could think of on the spot?
He groaned, his hand disappearing into his sweats. “We can change that. You can come over to my place tomorrow night and I will make you dinner. Now, please Y/N. Will you do this with me? I know we haven’t known each other long but…I can’t stop thinking about you.”
His words were sweet and sexy as the same time. Your hand unconsciously drifted to you clothed heat, feeling the wetness through your shorts. “I guess we can if you’re going to treat me to dinner tomorrow… But you’re going to have to tell me what to do. This is new to me…”
“I can do that babe.” He pushed his sweats down to his ankles and adjusted his computer into his lap. You could see his throwing cock resting on his stomach, the slightest bit of pre-cum dripping from the tip. He grabbed it gently in his hand, rubbing up the shaft with a grunt. “Start by taking off your shirt and shorts. I won’t make you jump into a full pussy shot yet.”
You blushed, your fingers finding the hem of your shirt. Lifting it over your head, you dropped it to the side of your bed. Stuarts groans got loud, his fist pumping his dick more. Your hands slipped down to your shorts, pulling them down your silky legs slowly.
“You’re trying to torture me, aren’t you?” His words were erotic, and you felt the wet liquid dripping down your legs. You sat with your legs spread out in front of the computer, your fingers rubbing over yourself. “Hot damn. You’re wet. I can tell. You should touch yourself for me.”
Your fingers slipped into your panties, rubbing themselves over your dripping core. You let out a moan and laid back into your pillows, almost forgetting that Stuart was watching you. You slipped a finger inside of yourself, your moans turning into pants.
“That’s right, baby. Just like that,” Stuart told you, his voice raspy. You glanced at the computer, his eyes boring into yours. He pumped his dick fiercely, not letting up for a second. “You should take off your panties so I can see you work yourself. I’m sure your fingers are graceful.”
You didn’t bother to protest as you slid from the wet fabric and resumed fingering yourself. Your other hand slipped up your chest and under your bra, grabbing at your breast. You moaned loud, clenching around your fingers. “Stuart, I think I’m gonna cum.”
“Do it baby. Let go. If rub your clit some, you might get there faster.” You watched as Stuart pumped, his free hand grabbing his balls tightly. Your thumb swiped at your clit, the hardened nub sensitive to your own touch. “Keep going. You can do it. I want see your juices flow out all over your fingers.”
His words finally got to you, as you came all over your fingers. Your vision went white as you let out the loudest moan you had ever done, Stuart’s name rolling off your tongue. Stuart’s breath hitched in response as his cock twitched in his hand, shooting his load all over his stomach.
You both laid back on your beds, panting softly. “That was probably the best orgasm I’ve had. Ever,” He told you, grabbing a tissue from his bedside table.
You chewed on your lip, feeling unsatisfied with this. “Hey Stuart?” You heard a soft ‘mmm’ from him as he cleaned himself up. “I know it’s late, but I think my computer is having some issues.”
You glanced at him, seeing his eyes darken at your words. He dropped the tissue into the trash can and leaned over to look at you better. “Do you want me to come over and fix it?”
You took a deep breath, whispering a barely audible, “Yes.”
He smirked, the lust in his eyes evident. “Text me your address and I will be out the door in five.”
He didn’t bother to wait for a response as the skype call ended. You grabbed your phone, falling face first onto the floor. “Fuck. Why am I so clumsy because of this guy?” You texted him the address and ran into the bathroom. You threw the bra you were wearing into the hamper and slipped on a robe. You wanted to be ready as soon as he arrived.
You heard the quick raps on the door and hurried to open it, Stuart standing on the other side. His hair was disheveled, his shirt on was on backwards, and he was barefoot, leading you to believe he rushed to get out the door.
As soon as he saw you, his lips were on yours in a messy kiss. He kicked the door closed behind him, fumbling to lock it as you dragged him towards your room. The kiss was heated, your tongues fighting already for dominance. Your teeth clashed, your noses brushing against each other.
You couldn’t lie. This was the best kiss you ever had. Your stomach was in knots, the spark tingling your lips every time your lips met his. Your lips seemed to fit each other just right, like a jigsaw puzzle.
You tugged at the bottom of his shirt repeatedly before he tugged it over his head, throwing it haphazardly onto a nearby lamp. You pushed him back onto the bed, and sent a wink his way. He propped himself up on his elbows to watch you as you undid the sash on the robe, dropping the entire thing to the floor. His stare caused you to blush and cover your body with your arms, feeling self-conscious about it.
“Oh baby. Don’t cover up. You’re absolutely breathtaking. Now come over here and kiss me,” he said in his sexy voice.
You shuffled over to him and straddled his waist. Your arms remained clasped around your breasts, hiding them from his view. He grabbed your hands and gently removed them from your body, running his thumbs over your soft skin. “I wasn’t lying. I may be a sarcastic asshole when you get to know me, but I am no liar. You shouldn’t be afraid to show off your body. You are beautiful.” He proceeded to lean up, pulling you down to meet his lips halfway.
You moaned into the kiss, gripping to shoulders to keep yourself upright. Grinding your hips into his own, he groaned into the kiss. His hands found your breasts, kneading them repeatedly.
He broke the kiss, his lips remaining close so you could feel his lips move as he talked. “Can I suck them, baby? They look delicious.” You just nodded, letting him flip you guys so he was on top. He kissed his way down your chest, flicking his tongue over one of your nipples. You let out a gasp as he blew on the perky bud in front of him and took it in his mouth. He swirled his tongue around it, letting you tangle your fingers in his hair.
“Stuart, how did you get so good at this?” You moaned out, barely getting the words out of your mouth, watching him switch between your breasts often. He started licking his way down your stomach as he responded.
“No idea. I’m not much for the dating front. I know I’m not a virgin because I had drunk sex with my coworker once. I don’t remember it though.”
“Oh…Well keep doing whatever you’re doing then. Because it’s working.” You giggled, feeling him smile against your stomach. He spread your legs, moving so he could kiss your thighs. Kissing each one a couple times, he moved to you core and licking it a couple of times. Your fingers twisted into the sheets. “Just like that, Stuart. Keep doing that.” He licked faster, his tongue occasioning finding its way into your core and licking your walls. When his tongue found your clit, and nibbled on it, you couldn’t stop yourself from screaming. Once the first scream erupted from your throat, Stuart’s hand covered your mouth.
“Shh, baby. As much as I love you screaming my name like that, we don’t want to wake your neighbors.” You nodded, biting your lip to suppress the noises you knew you would make. He continued working on your clit, running a finger through your folds and into your core. You had to cover your mouth to muffle the noises you were making, though it was getting hard to as he continued his magic. His finger pumped you a few times before he slipped a second finger in, scissoring your walls and curling his fingers into your g-spot.
You had to grab a pillow to cover your string of curses and he sucked and pumped your nethers. You were in heaven now, your stomach swirling with anticipation. Your walls clenched around his fingers and you pushed your face further into the pillow as you came. Stuart groaned and replaced his fingers with his tongue, lapping up the juices that leaked from your core. Your chest heaved at a great pace, trying to relax from your orgasm.
Stuart moved the pillow from your face and placed a sensual kiss to your lips. You could taste yourself on his lips and tongue, clawing at his arms to hold yourself together. He kissed over to you ear, whispering into it, “I want to be inside you now. Will you let me, princess?”
You nodded, helping him kick his sweats and boxers off, letting them rest on the foot of your bed. You felt him rub his cock through your folds before pushing on his chest, halting his movements. “Wait. Condom. We can’t forget the condom.” You hand searched blindly for the bedside table, knocking the alarm clock to the ground in the process. Stuart got the hint and opened the drawer, pulling a foil packet from the box inside. Tearing it open with his teeth, he pumped his shaft several times before he rolled the condom on.
Lining himself up at your entrance, he glanced at you for permission to continue. His eyes bore into your own, the answer he was waiting for evident in your lust-filled orbs. He eased in, hearing you wince as he stretched your walls. “I’m sorry babe. It’ll be worth it though. I’m going to please you so much, your eyes will roll back into your head. You’re going to have the finest orgasm you’ve ever had, unmatched by any before.”
He let you adjust before pulling out and slamming his dick back into you. A wave of pleasure washed over you, your hands finding their way around Stuart’s back. He continued to thrust into you, the tip of his cock already prodding your g-spot every time. Your nails raked down his back, leaving bright red marks in their wake. Your moans made his cock twitch inside of you, and each clench of your walls elicited a gasp from his lips.
“Fuck. You are so tight for me princess. Do you like this?” You nodded your head, feeling lightheaded from the massive amounts of pleasure he was causing you.
“Go faster. Harder. Please Stuart.” Your words were choppy, a gasp escaping between each word.
“As you wish, baby.” He complied with your wished, slamming his cock into you harder, at an ungodly speed. Your mewls met his ears, your back arched to his touch. One of his hands held your waist, the other grabbed your thigh, shifting it in a way that would allow him to reach deeper into your depths. He would roll and rotate his hips into yours, the sensational rush of pleasure filling your body with each movement.
His motions started to get staggered and sloppy, telling you he was near his peak. Your wrapped your legs around his waist, pulling him closer to you. “You can cum, Stuart. You don’t need to hold back.”
He let out a groan, rubbing your clit as he neared his orgasm. A knot formed in your stomach, the rubbing drawing you closer to your end. Your walls clenched around his cock one final time, milking him as he released his load into the condom, filling it to the brim with semen. Your eyes rolled back as your orgasm hit you for the second time that night, Stuart’s name falling from your tongue once more.
Resting his sweaty forehead against yours, he kissed your lips sweetly before pulling out. The removed the condom and tied it off, dropping it into the trashcan you had by your bed. You let out a sigh and curled up against his side. Stuart pulled the blankets over you both and kissed your forehead.
“That was the best, Y/N. Way better than drunk sex I can’t remember.” You giggled, placing sweet kisses along his jaw. “We’ll get to do it again sometime, right?”
“You want to keep seeing me?” Your eyebrows furrowed at his questioned, unsure why he was still interested. “Why would you want to do that? I’m not smart like you. I’m clumsy. And I can’t even handle my computer sometimes.”
“Of course I want to keep seeing you.” He frowned at you, confused by what you were telling him. “I know it’s crazy, but I have really strong feelings for you already. I’ve only been talking to you for what? Nearly two weeks? But I want you to be my girlfriend. I don’t care if you’re clumsy or can’t handle a computer. It just means I can be your own personal tech support.”
You sniffled, a couple of tears escaping your eyes. Stuart got worried, seeing the tears, and sat up quickly. “I didn’t mean to make you cry! Fuck. I fucked up, didn’t I?”
You shook your head, your smile beaming at him. “No you didn’t fuck up. I just thought that was really sweet.” You leaned in and kissed him, your hands resting on his cheeks. “Of course I want to be your girlfriend. I want you to be my very own tech support.”
“Good,” he stated, smiling at you and running a hand through your hair. He paused, staring at you and blinking a few times. “You are still coming over for dinner tomorrow, right?”
You let out a laugh and nuzzled your face into his chest, cuddling his warm body closer to yours. “Of course. I wouldn’t have it any other way, Stuart.”
He grinned, closing his eyes. “Thanks for calling the Google Helpline, Y/N.”

We made the decision here at Kinsta to move our entire infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform early 2016, making us the first managed WordPress host to exclusively utilize the platform. By doing this we could ensure a high-level of redundancy and have granular control over our servers while also having the ability to tweak our hosting environment; making customers’ sites faster, more stable, secure and completely isolated. Google Cloud Platform not only allowed us access to one of the largest networks in the world, but also ensures customers have less downtime as we can now utilize live migrations of virtual machines. Today we want to dive deeper into some of the advantages of using Google Cloud Hosting for your business.
Google Cloud
SADA Systems recently surveyed 200+ IT managers about their use of public cloud services, and found that 84% of IT managers surveyed are using public cloud infrastructure today, as opposed to corporate data centers. “All signs point to public cloud adoption growing and enterprise IT becoming more comfortable with the prospect of running their most sensitive data on public cloud infrastructure,” says Tony Safoian, president and CEO at SADA Systems.
Google Cloud Hosting, and or Compute Engine, is just one of many services provided by Google Cloud Platform. They also offer their App Engine, storage, DNS, CDN, and a multitude of other services and products. Google Cloud Platform consists of a set of physical servers, as well as virtual resources like virtual machines (VMs) that are contained in Google’s data centers around the globe. We use Google Cloud Platform’s multi-regional deployment mode. This means that you can choose a different data center for each of your WordPress websites.
Some notable companies that are using Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine or App Engine) include Spotify, HSBC, Home Depot, Snapchat, HTC, Best Buy, Philips, Coca Cola, Domino’s, Feedly, ShareThis, Sony Music, and Ubisoft. Even Apple has been seen moving some of its services away from AWS, spending between $400 million and $600 million on Google Cloud Platform; although this couldn’t be independently confirmed.
Evernote made the decision to migrate its 200 million users. Ben McCormack, VP Operations at Evernote stated on their blog: “Evernote will gain significant improvements in performance, security, efficiency, and scalability. Moving to the cloud also allows us to focus time and resources on the things that matter most.”
1. Better Pricing Than Competitors
Google bills in minute-level increments (with a 10-minute minimum charge), so you only pay for the compute time you use. And a big bonus is that they give you discounted prices for long-running workloads with no up-front commitment required. Use the VMs for a month and you get a discount, as simple as that. This makes it perfect for startups and for enterprise IT to cut costs. AWS for example requires prepays in the form of “reserved instances” to be eligible for the discounts. And Azure only offers a 5% discount on a 12-month prepay.
Sandeep Dinesh did a good comparison recently of just how cheap Google Cloud’s SSDs are when it comes to performance vs price and a comparison against AWS and Azure. To start off, instances are simply lower in cost on Google Cloud Platform, Compute Engine alone is typically between 40% – 50% cheaper than AWS and Azure.
AWS vs Google Cloud
When it comes to Google Cloud Platform you basically get more IOPS for less than 1/3 of the cost. As you can see with this configuration below with AWS you are looking at $1,102.50/month with 3 year contract as opposed to Google Cloud’s $470.64/month. IOPS is a measurement for input/output operations per second and how often a device can perform IO tasks. In most cases, the great number of IOPS, the better the performance.
   2. Private Global Fiber + Tiered Network
Alex said it best in an article about Google Cloud Platform on Techcrunch, “The Power is in the Network.” One thing that sets Google Cloud Hosting apart from some of the other players is that their network is one of the biggest in the world. Will Shulman, co-founder of MongoLab, talked about the network in a panel at Google I/O saying: “It is blazing fast. The other thing – it has a private distributed backbone between all the data centers. You are talking over Google’s backbone, not over the Internet.”
  3. Live Migration of Virtual Machines
Another huge advantage for Google Cloud Hosting, especially for how we use it here at Kinsta is live migrations of Virtual Machines. Neither AWS, Azure, or smaller providers like Digital Ocean offer this functionality. So this is a very important differentiator for Google Cloud compared to other cloud providers. As a WordPress hosting provider, this means we are basically always up with our VMs, with no noticeable degradation in performance when they are live migrating VMs between host machines.
Benefits of live migrations allow for the engineers at Google to better address issues such as patching, repairing, and updating the software and hardware, without the need for you to worry about machine reboots. Miche Baker-Harvey, Tech Lead/Manager at Google put together a great illustration of the high-level steps involved in a live VM migration.
4. Improved Performance
Kinsta was just recently named top tier once again in Review Signal’s annual 2018 WordPress hosting performance benchmarks. And a lot of this is thanks to Google Cloud Platform. We were the first managed WordPress host to exclusively utilize Google Cloud and are the only enterprise level host using them. And we would like to think that the results speak for themselves.  Kevin at Review Signal threw a whopping 10,000 concurrent users against our servers and as he noted for the Load Storm test, Kinsta had basically flawless performance with flat average response times, minimal errors and no spikes.
5. State of the Art Security
Another big advantage is security. Choosing Google Cloud Platform means you get the benefit of a security model that has been built upon over the course of 15 years, and currently secures products and services like Gmail, Search, etc. Google currently employs more than 500 full-time security professionals. Niels Provos, a security Engineer at Google, gave a great in-depth look at the security of Google Cloud Platform (see video below).
6. Dedication to Continued Expansion
Google has continued to rapidly build out their infrastructure for Google Cloud Platform. On September 29th, 2016 they announced the locations of new strategically placed Google Cloud Regions. We are very excited to see São Paulo and Sydney included in the list as this will help dramatically decrease latency for Google Cloud Hosting customers across South America and Australia. Here is an updated list of all GCP regions:
7. Redundant Backups
Google Cloud Storage is designed for 99.999999999% durability and has 4 different types of storage: Coldline storage, nearline, regional storage, and multi-regional storage. It stores data redundantly, with automatic checksums to ensure data integrity. The beauty of multi-regional storage is that it is also geo-redundant, which means cloud storage stores your data redundantly in at least two regions within the multi-regional location of the bucket. As it pertains to Google Cloud hosting, this ensures you will never lose your data, even in the case of a disaster.
