OPEN STARTER. location : the streets. who : ruling lord elras qorgyle of sandstone.
the lord preferred observing over participating - a habit he had learnt from years of fending for himself. his eyes would dart across the room noting every movement and every expression, it was a game of sorts. as he walked through the streets while the festivities continued, elras observed all of them. if he was to be smart he'd grasp the opportunity to gain a few friends in powerful positions such as his own, but he wouldn't risk making a drunken fool of himself in the process. he watched as a particularly drunk lord swayed across the street with a drink in his hand and a subtle smirk came to rest on the lords lips as he stopped and spoke to the person next to him. " where do you imagine he will end up? in a bush or with the pigs? "

location: the street of spring who : open
burst of the bright pungent juices of the pomegranate cover her tongue. she had not thought the westerosies would have the fruit of this caliber for the taking. though the princess surmises this is the ruling family's attempt to ─ ─ if not appease, charm all those who come far and wide. surely it was not done for her or her ilk's benefit. she heard of the stories, of the lions running the dragon out. it always seemed odd ─ why had the dragons not burned the lions? undoubtedly they would not withstand the fire. patience, for she was born into the games and to show you hand too soon─ was quite literally life or death. but she was not raised to covet the throne of iron molded by dragon fire. her home was lys - still, those who supported her raised her, trained her assured her that building relations with her kin from the west was important. this remained to be seen. for now, she sent her servants to the red keep to prepare her quarters while she meandered the open market- feasting on the proffered ripen fruits. " i heard the poor filled the streets here," she offers, her accent thick placing another gold coin in a merchant's hand as she pops a sweet fig into her mouth; humming softly as the sweet flesh of the fruit melts against her tongue. a smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth. " ─ where do you think they hidden them all.

" what in seven hells are you doing ? get rid of the pink carnations and go get the red ones i asked for. " sylvia glared down the servant that had brought the flowers into the room , watching in pure judgement as they left to meet her request. even before she was hand of the king , being a princess had always granted her a great amount of sway throughout the land. in her eyes , she was owed as much. sipping wine from her teacup , she turned her attention back to her company. " it is truly so difficult to find good help these days. "

“ have you placed your bets upon anyone yet, my liege? ” pearly white teeth serve a contrast against rosy lips, curiousity mixed with amusement placing a smile across her features. “ surely there must be one favoured above all others to win. ”

—— the hunt. —— open.
𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄 will be left, with all the noise the group is making trudging through the kingswood. not that it really matters, she supposes —— she cannot claim to know tyron lannister, but if he's a king like every other, he'll want everyone here to leave the real trophy of the day for him. it's too humid for her liking. an hour in, and she's already miserable. every moment or two, she has to reach behind her head to free her braid from where it's snagged on the bow slung across her back. that is what distracts her ( looking down when she should be looking up ) when someone ahead of her shoulders a branch out of their way, and it comes whipping back for her. her hand shoots up to catch it, and almost does. but not before it stings across her face, hard enough to make her hiss out a breath as her eyes water. slender fingers raise to her cheek, tracing across the smarting skin. it will soon swell into a welt, she knows, and before she can put a rein on it her temper frays. " fool ! " she snaps. " are you blind or deaf to not know i'm behind you ? "

it really is beautiful , they think . tales of highgarden's magnificence , of course , found their way to the stormlands but to behold it with one's eyes is something glorious . they watch with those wide , staring eyes as the lannister's flaunt with indignity , oblivious to the pain burning a hole in ariyana's chest , to the effort it took to make it here in one piece . " what a time for celebration , " they note towards their companion as they walk the gardens , prettiness masking the terror of this place , these people . " i was hesitant to make the journey , i admit . however to feel the sun upon my skin is a celebration in itself . "

Spring had come, and Vaella found themselves in the Red Keep for the first time in many years. They expected little of the event as a whole; it was an excuse for excess and for the Lannisters to show the wealth that had made their house what it was. That the King sought a new bride was also not a surprise. He would need a heir eventually, and no doubt he would find another from the Baratheons. They had, after all, provided so much in the past, including the power to overthrow the long-held Targaryen dynasty and enact a new rule in Westeros. That same new reign meant the Velaryons had little chance of regaining what power they once had, even as their wealth expanded and their fleet grew again.
But the arrival of the Targaryens- now THIS was interesting. With a poorly concealed smile, Vaella watched as they marched beneath the three headed dragon, both the Targaryens known and those that came from Lys, seemingly out of rumor and myth. A goblet of the finest Arbor gold was in their hand and they watched the light catch it.
It had been many years since the crown had been taken, and yet they all gathered here as if they were friends. How delicious. Perhaps nothing would come of this, that all posturing would prove to simply be that and the Lannisters would hold the Irone Throne for longer and longer, until the Targaryen rulers were only the faintest memories. Or perhaps the Iron Throne would receive a fresh infusion of swords, taken from fallen enemies, and once more there would be dragon banners flown from the towers.
One could not discount the other houses either, all those players in the game that Vaella relished so much. Though the Velaryons were loyal to the Targaryens, Vaella personally was also pragmatic. Let them see where the dice fell, and then decisions could be made.
For now, they laughed at the thought and took another draught of wine. Let the feasting begin.

the sun was shining and the sky was a bright shade of blue that seemed to invoke nostalgia. it was a lovely day for a walk through highgarden. some would see the easy choice as being through the lush gardens, with the ever present floral smell. this walk though would find someone near the stables to overhear a conversation between a lady and a kingsguard. “oh please ser, it’s not terribly out of the way,” she pleaded, gesturing with one hand to the map held by her other. “milady, i take orders from their majesties, and while i have allowed you, your,” he paused, his eyes wrinkled as he smiled jovially down at the stubborn lady, “excursions in king’s landing. this is one i cannot bend to. i’m sure you understand.” “of course i do. i apologize i would hate to get you in any sort of trouble. you have been a good friend to me ser, i will take my leave. i must return to her grace.” daella curtsied quickly, folding up her map. she walks off with a slight stomp in her step, while she respects his decision and would hardly try to question it or pull rank, she still really wanted to go. alas she would have to see the citadel another day. and it’s not like they would let her in anyways… maesters and their rules.
daella ever lost in her thoughts, not paying attention when she accidentally slammed into someone. nonsensical apologies spewed from her mouth as she stumbled up to her feet, finally able to take a look at her unwitting victim.

OPEN. location : the royal feast. who : anron tully.
tucking into a piece of bread while he stood next to the table, anron had made it clear he showed no signs of staying, he was only there to enjoy the food. he did however intend to linger long enough to ensure his sisters wouldn't be pushed in front of the king unless they wanted to be. he disagreed with the idea of marrying for anything other than love - an opinion he'd made quite clear to those around him, his own behaviour reflected such decisions too. feeling eyes on him he finished chewing the food in his mouth and then looked up to the person in front of him. " yes? " a brow raised on his expression, waiting for the other to speak. " i was hungry and i don't intend to stay for long. "

location: the hunt with: open
alannys stifled a yawn, fidgeting slightly while mildly interested in the trays of meat and drink being served, she was ready to get things underway. she couldn't help but shift slightly in her saddle. " i was hoping for fresh air but it would seem the organizers are taking their sweet time." alannys had not been planning to join the hunt. it was meant to be a spectacle, one that she didn't want to be a part of⸻ but the other part of her was drawn to it like a moth to a flame⸻ and perhaps the knowledge that a certain someone would be there was some motivation. her dark eyes regarded the visage that trotted up next to her. " any word on when we shall start? "

" then i hit him like bam ! " she demonstrated throwing her fist forward like she was right back on the docks of pyke , fighting with a pirate who hadn't realized who she was . it had been both insulting and entirely amusing to her when he had , practically buzzing for any excuse to get into a fight. " and then i heard his nose crack and he bled like a pig. you should have seen the pain in his eyes , it was grand. " she grins , leaning back on the table she's perched on top of. calloused hands reached for her cup of ale , tipping her head back and guzzling down the liquid until her cup was drained , thumb wiping a stray trickle of the liquid from the corner of her mouth. " got any stories of your own to share? "

—— the tourney grounds . —— open .
𝐀 𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐀 𝐖𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐓 full of trinkets and coins and candies stops before him —— a gathering of simple little things to divide amongst the children who play games amid the larger tourney. for a heartbeat, he considers sending the man away with nothing. the gods know he isn't carrying any sweets or toys or little trinkets ; too much gold has been spent on this celebration anyway. but is he not a lion of the rock, richer than the heavens as far as the man with the basket is concerned ? a smile limned with weariness washes over criston's features. he plucks a ring from his finger —— a gold band studded with rubies —— and tosses it into the basket. a lord who doesn't carry a coinpurse because he's never has use for one, not a lord who is beggared. ( he does not remember where the ring came from, anyway. not his mother's, not a gift from his sister nor his mistress ... he will not miss it. ) as the man with the basket trails to another guest, criston's eyes skim away and fall upon another. " come to watch the games, or to join them, my liege ? " he asks. his brows raise just a little. " or to gamble, perhaps ? "

A PLEASANT smile lined the former queen’s lips, but her hands were clenched tightly, nails biting into her skin. she was growing tired of the act, answering the endless onslaught of questions from the gathered nobility, reassuring them that everything was just fine, nothing to concern yourself over when they all knew she was lying through her teeth. “will you excuse me for a moment?” she said, cutting off the person she had been speaking to, rising from the table hurriedly and entering into another, presumably empty, room. her eyelids fluttered closed as she rested her head against the cool wall, savouring the brief moment of solitude before a sound broke the peacefulness.

she is tired from the journey , but selsa's eyes are sharp . it feels tenuous somehow , and she wonders how her cousins are faring amidst all these eyes upon them . she has always felt an outsider amongst the lannisters — a harsh snow against their golden suns . she feels it even more so now , to be around family and faces she should be running to with joy but , as ever , selsa sticks to the shadows . " it is strange to hear so many familiar names , to see faces i knew once in childhood now grown into adulthood . " she muses , her head tilted as she people watches .
