TV Guide - November 30 - December 6, 1963
George Campbell Scott (October 18, 1927 – September 22, 1999) was an American actor, director, and producer who had a celebrated career on both stage and screen. With a gruff demeanor and commanding presence, Scott became known for his portrayal of stern, but complex, authority figures.
Scott was in much demand for guest shots on TV shows, appearing in episodes of Ben Casey and Naked City. In 1962, Scott appeared as school teacher Arthur Lilly on NBC's The Virginian, in the episode "The Brazen Bell", in which he recites Oscar Wilde's poem "The Ballad of Reading Gaol". That same year, he appeared in NBC's medical drama The Eleventh Hour, in the episode "I Don't Belong in a White-Painted House". He appeared opposite Laurence Olivier and Julie Harris in Graham Greene's The Power and the Glory in a 1961 television production.
In 1963 Scott starred in the hour-long television drama series East Side/West Side. He portrayed a New York City social worker, along with co-stars Cicely Tyson and Elizabeth Wilson. Scott was a major creative influence on the show, resulting in conflicts with James T. Aubrey, the head of CBS. The Emmy Award-winning program had a series of guest stars, including James Earl Jones. The portrayal of challenging urban issues made attracting advertisers difficult, not helped by the limited distribution. Not all CBS network affiliates broadcast the show, and it was canceled after one season.
During the early 1970s, Scott appeared in the made-for-television films Jane Eyre (1970) as Mr. Rochester and The Price (1971), a version of the Arthur Miller play. For the latter role, he won an Emmy Award, which he accepted. He also directed a TV version of The Andersonville Trial (1970).
Scott appeared in a television production of Beauty and the Beast (1976), with Trish Van Devere. In 1981 was cast as Fagin in the CBS made-for-TV adaptation of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist (1982). He starred in China Rose (1983) on television, and in 1984 portrayed Ebenezer Scrooge in a television adaptation of A Christmas Carol. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for the role. Scott played the title role in the made-for-television-movie Mussolini: The Untold Story (1985).
Scott reprised his role as Patton in a made-for-television sequel, The Last Days of Patton (1986). Based on the final weeks of Patton's life after being mortally injured in a car accident, it contains flashbacks of Patton's life.
On television, Scott did The Murders in the Rue Morgue (1986) and Pals (1987; with Don Ameche). He also played the lead role in the TV series Mr. President (1987–88), which ran for 24 turbulent episodes. He was also on the Johnny Carson Show in March 1987. Scott starred in the television film The Ryan White Story (1989) as Charles Vaughan, the lawyer defending Ryan White. (Wikipedia)

Scott/Hope Masterlist 2
part one
all the stars (are closer) (ao3) - bevioletskies scott/hope, hank/janet T, 31k
Summary: Scott is a washed-up comedy actor and an ex-convict, unable to find enough work to pay child support. Hope is a famous action star and the daughter of one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, still struggling with the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death. When Hope’s estranged father casts them in his directorial debut, a romantic drama with a script that’s more truth than fiction, they find themselves tangled in a mysterious conspiracy that just might explain what really happened to Janet Van Dyne all those years ago.
Already Home (ao3) - floatinglanterns G, 4k
Summary: Good news became great news, great news became amazing news, and everything in Scott’s life became something he wanted to live for.
A look into Scott and Hope's life two years after the world is restored. Healing was a long process, but the getting there would be worth it.
ant-man (ao3) - waywardkeener T, 8k
Summary: Scott just wants to see his daughter. Hope wants the tech out of Darren’s hands. Hank is with his daughter but disagrees on who they should trust about this mission to stop Darren.
a sort-of vacation (ao3) - PilotInTheStars T, 1k
Summary: They ended up in Paris by accident. Scott had to admit it was a convenient story in the end (and in fact, no one believed them when they finally got home), but it was the truth nonetheless. It was simply convenient that he and Hope had an unpaid side gig that could sometimes require them to travel.
A walk in the woods (ao3) - ibcrian T, 7k
Summary: A month after the events of Ant-Man and The Wasp, Hope decides to leave her pride aside and visit Scott. Both had too many things left to be said, turning everything into a meaningful and unexpected date.
Don't Ever Let Go (ao3) - hallieCB3 T, 2k
Summary: Hope van Dyne's perspective during that scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
(Or the scotthope scene at the end, but including the supposedly deleted scene and kisses. And then after they come back, when Hope is taking care of Scott’s wounds).
five minutes later (ao3) - penxstan G, 1k
Summary: what i like to imagine would have happened if hank had interrupted them just five minutes later
forever can never be long enough for me (ao3) - katana_fleet scott/hope, maggie/jim, hank/janet T, 8k
Summary: “Will you marry me?”
Hope took a step back. “What?”
“I love you and you’re freaking awesome and I want to marry you.”
[5 times scott proposed to hope and 1 time hope proposed to scott]
Heal My Wounds (ao3) - tiny_spy T, 1k
Summary: He cut it close this time, very close, barely making it back home on the night before Christmas Eve. Apparently, the bad guys had no notion of holidays and no respect for his desire to maybe not spend them being repeatedly punched and kicked and thrown around.
Scott/Hope Christmas fluff.
how sweet it is (to be loved by you) (ao3) - ziggyzaggystardust scott/hope, background carol/valkryie G, 11k
Summary: Hope doesn’t dance.
She thinks it’s pointless.
But then Scott Lang winds up in her life, in all of his lovable dork glory, and suddenly she’s dancing alongside this crazy mess of a person and laughing more than she has in years.
Or, five times Scott asked Hope to dance, and one time she asked him.
if all my defenses come down, will you lay it all on me now? (ao3) - dearingsattler G, 1k
Summary: Scott and Hope keep tiptoeing around each other. Janet decides she's had enough and gets involved.
Takes place after amatw, pretends the snap never happened
invisible string (ao3) - hallieCB3 G, 11k
Summary: A perspective on Scott Lang, as he drives about three thousand miles to the Avengers complex, while he has flashbacks of his past as he looks for help to bring those who were gone with the Blip five years ago… especially her.
kiss me beneath the milky twilight (ao3) - archerskate scott/hope, hank/janet M, 6k
Summary: Hope is a princess and Scott is her childhood best friend. As they grew up, they grew closer, and, well, you can guess what happened next.
or
a scotthope royalty au
Let it Matter (ao3) - emroselew T, 3k
Summary: But since they defeated Cross (since she’d met Scott) she’d gradually felt a little less frigid, less like she’d been left in the snow too long. It was like she’d been frozen, and just now she was beginning to thaw.
Moments Like These (ao3) - floatinglanterns G, 1k
Summary: “I thought about you every day,” she said. “I don’t want you to think I ever stopped caring because I didn’t.”
A reflection on Scott and Hope's relationship post-amatw (spoilers!)
mountains out of ant hills (ao3) - iyearnforaplotadvancement scott/hope, scott/maggie, maggie/jim, hank/janet T, 10k
Summary: A series of drabbles set before, during, and after Ant-Man/ Ant-Man and The Wasp.
new situations and barbie shoes (ao3) - PilotInTheStars G, 1k
Summary: Hope's life seems to be changing in ways she never expected it to. And she's most definitely going to screw it up.
one step at a time (ao3) - aeipqthy scott/hope G, 1k
Summary: After the events of Ant-man and the Wasp, Scott and Hope work through their differences after their two-year estrangement.
a.k.a. scott and hope make up and talk about berlin
When The Dust Settles (ao3) - orphan_account N/R, 1k
Summary: But for now he’d settle for this, for holding Hope in the middle of the bloody battlefield where they had fought alongside each other, alongside the Avengers and the Dora Milaje and those cool wizards with the glowing fists, always mere seconds away from losing the battle but always side by side. They were Ant-Man and the Wasp as they were meant to be, strong and glorious and one hell of a partnership.
With a Thrill in My Head (ao3) - HunterByDayWhovianByNight E, 1k
Summary: Scott couldn't keep Hope off his mind.

yellowjackets full names i made up on my drive today
Shauna Elise Shipman- already had this one. I just like it idk what to tell y'all. elise sounds pretty with shauna
Jacqueline Kennedy Taylor- i'm sorry, but with jackie's parents? she was clearly named for jackie kennedy and i feel like they WOULD go that far.
Laura Lee- she doesn't have a middle name. her parents just gave her a first and last so that when she gets married to a man she can be Laura Lee Husband's-Last-Name.
Natalie Antonia Scatorccio- i don't remember which fic it was that used this one for "something catholic" but i love it. very pretty will keep
Misty Ann Quigley- it just feels like something that would be RIGHT for misty. something very generic that doesn't quite fit but isn't bad.
Vanessa Irene Palmer- I like the sound of it and i do feel like when van was born her mom would have been the type to think "VIP" as initials is really funny.
Taissa Nadine Turner- this one was also chosen for the initials because i feel like taivan both having that is cute. tai's initials are TNT and Nadine both sounds good with with other two and means "hope" which i feel like would fit with both her parents' dreams for her and taissa's personality. the girl just keeps going
Benjamin David Scott- i like the sound of it and it would be fun for his middle name to match a queer icon: david bowie
Akilah Nicole King- nicole means victory, which i think would be tragic with akilah who's trying so hard to keep going but we know won't make it. and king just sounds really good with akilah AND is a common name across the board
Mari Gabriella Flores- middle name is from the angel gabriel that declared to mary that she was gonna have a baby because mari "i hope that shauna doesn't die" being named after gabriel is PEAK comedy to me. also flores is one of my favorite hispanic last names and i want to give her flowers. on account of the pit
Genesis Stevie Kondo- okay look, i know a person named after genesis the band and the idea of gen being named after genesis the band AND stevie nicks is entertaining to me. also marie kondo and getting rid of stuff with care and kindness and poor gen is getting thrown out of the cast by being killed. do you see my Vision TM
Melissa Jean Collins- common middle name and last name that i thought worked well with hers
Kristin Cassandra Megat- i made this name up for god honoring cannibalism and i'm very fond of it for crystal <3
Charlotte Elizabeth Matthews- of course mr. matthews would give lottie both an incredibly bland and aristocratic sounding name. middle name comes from both elizabeth ii and it just sounding fancy
Travis Rosario Martinez- i know that rosario skews female, but it IS gender neutral still. and let me tell you, travis One of the Girls TM, virginity was jealousy guarded and then he was punished for having lost it being named partially after a famous devotion to the VIRGIN mary. i like the themes
Javier Alejandro Martinez- alejandro is very pretty, means warrior which is a sad sort of ironic, and then his initials are jam which makes me giggle
ADULT TIMELINE
Jeffrey Lee Sadecki- lee is very common, very short, and could facilitate some funny moments with small callie where she mishears jeffrey as jeff lee or jeffrey as jeff free. and thinks her dad's name is either jeff lee sadecki or jeff free sadecki
Jacqueline Elise Sadecki- ha. ha ha. hahAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Simone Jada Abara- jada means wise, which is a trait i would associate with simone, and it also sounds good in there.
Samuel Isaac Abara-Turner- i am worried about sammy tonight in this chili's so i am giving him the worst curse i can on a christian child: naming him isaac after abraham's issac. i make things worse on purpose :)
Walter Ichabod Tattersall- he has no glory because he's just a weird little guy and i like that about him :)
Kevyn Ringo Tan- i am cursing kevyn with not only the y he already has but his parents being this type of beatles fan. idk i feel like someone using a y for kevin in the late seventies would be the kind of person to name their kid after ringo starr
Lisa Marie Hawthorne- giving lisa a very common middle name and a fancy, wasp-y last name complete with nathaniel hawthorne's generations away from puritanism guilt. it feels right with her mom being the way she is
that's it! that's the end of the characters i care enough about to do this for

Two Worlds Between Gods And Heroes: Greek Gods vs Avengers
Hello Everyone!! 👋 Today, let's step into a world where Olympus and Earth's mightiest heroes. 💥 where Greek gods, an immortal glory, with the indomitable Avengers, defenders of the universe.🦸🏻♂️
A Wonderful sight of Olympus the place of Gods ✨
Cruel and fickle, passionate and vindictive, jealous and insecure, petty and insane: the inhabitants of Mount Olympus represent an attempt by the ancient Greeks to explain the chaos of the universe through human nature. Thus, like every deity invented before and since, these gods and goddesses are embodiments of human solipsism. (Of course lightning is caused by a giant, angry man in the sky…obvi. I mean, what else could it be?) The stories of their battles, bickering, and sexual conquests have indelibly influenced the course of Western language and narrative. Here is a selection of some of the A-list names of the Greek pantheon.
Aphrodite:
Aphrodite was the goddess of love, sex, and beauty.
Athena:
Athena was the goddess of reason, wisdom, and war.
Artemis:
Artemis was the fleet-footed goddess of the hunt.
Ares:
Ares was the god of bloodlust.
Apollo:
The twin brother of Artemis, Apollo was among the most important (read: feared) of the gods.
Hades:
ruled the world of the dead, with which he was sometimes synonymous.
Poseidon:
Poseidon is best known as the Greek sea god, but he was also the god of horses and of earthquakes.
Zeus:
Zeus is a prominent figure in Greek mythology, known as the king of the gods and ruler of Mount Olympus. He is the god of the sky, lightning, thunder, law, order, and justice.
They are the Greek Gods people today still love these old stories about the Greek gods. They're in books, movies, and even games! These stories teach us about bravery, wisdom, and how things like nature and seasons work.
Earth's mightiest heroes place earth 🌍
On the other side, Avengers the Earth's mightiest heroes. The Avengers isn't your typical heroes. They're a team of super powered people who save the world, but they're more than that they're just like us in many ways. 💥 In a world where superheroes soar across the skies and face unimaginable threats, there exists a team whose story goes beyond their superhuman abilities, the Avengers. They are not just a gathering of extraordinary individuals in colorful suits; they represent the triumph of unity, resilience, and the human spirit in the face of adversity. 😮
These are the members of the Avengers 💪
Iron Man (Tony Stark)
Captain America (Steve Rogers)
Thor
Hulk (Bruce Banner)
Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)
Hawkeye (Clint Barton)
Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff)
Vision
Black Panther (T'Challa)
Doctor Strange
Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
Ant-Man (Hank Pym, Scott Lang)
Wasp (Janet Van Dyne, Hope Van Dyne)
Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)
Falcon (Sam Wilson)
These characters among others have been members of the Avengers at different points in the comic book series and have also been featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in various Avengers movies. The roster has changed over time, and different story arcs and events have introduced new characters to the team. 🦸♂️
Differences Between Greek Gods and Avengers: ✍️🙌
• The Greek Gods are myths from the ancient Greeks, while the Avengers are fictional team of superheroes.
• Greek Gods are related to one another, while the Avengers are just a team and they are not related to each other.
• Greek Gods have a supernatural powers, while some of the Avengers does not have a supernatural powers.
• Greek Gods consists of all gods, while the Avengers are mostly humans and aliens. Thor is the only god in the Avengers. So, no matter if you chose the team Avengers of team Greek Gods these people show us Courage, Heroism, Unity and Teamwork 🤝 Overall, the stories of the Avengers and Greek gods impart valuable lessons, by showing what is good over evil, the power of unity, and the importance of virtues and values.🌟

My taste in music in 20 albums
On Instagram I was challenged by @piahinckle to choose 20 albums that greatly influenced my taste in music. One album per day, for 20 consecutive days. No explanations (mostly), no reviews, just cover images on my Instagram @rialdrummer.
Proceeding from the first posting on December 11.
Max Roach and the M’Boom ensemble “Re: Percussion” the album is sometimes called. I heard this in the early ‘80s at a time I was getting interested in the history of jazz and particularly jazz drummers. Had the good fortune to see Max’s quartet (Cecil Bridgewater, Odean Pope, Tyrone Brown) at the old Yoshi’s, around the time of the “Scott Free” album. This M’Boom record planted a seed for my later musical explorations in the ‘90s and started an appreciation for me of Max Roach as bandleader and conceptualist. I’d already heard some of his work with Charlie Parker. A decade later my band was covering “Morning / Midday” and “Jamaican Sun” by this group and I was email pals with Omar Clay’s partner.
The Mamas and the Papas “A Gathering Of Flowers”. On the turntable constantly during my late high school years. Released between the ’68 breakup and the ’71 reunion. Interviews on the record with Cass and John hint at the glories and disappointments felt in the group.
Van Morrison “Tupelo Honey”. Great songs, ace band. The title track is really a classic (Cassandra Wilson’s cover is further evidence). Gary Mallaber (vibes) and Ronnie Montrose (guitar) stand out to me.
Family “Fearless”. United Artists was a label that took chances on musical artistry and signing Family was a commercial risk. I found this album in 1973 in a cutout bin and it had only been out for 18 months. The album is in turns gritty and pretty. All songwriting, playing and singing contributions are excellent, with John Wetton playing a key role on guitar, bass and vocals.
Rory Gallagher “Irish Tour ‘74”. Songs burned into memory from my days as a record store clerk and DJ. Most of my friends in the day were Rory fans going back to his band Taste and a few of us saw him at UC Santa Barbara around 1974. If I had to pick one Rory record… Watch him on YouTube.
“The Drums”. Prez Records in Santa Rosa was a destination store for me in the ‘80s and I found this used 3-album set for cheap there. Introduced me to Art Blakey (“Ala Mode” remains a favorite song of mine), Connie Kay playing with Milt Jackson, Dannie Richmond, Paul Motian and many more great tracks.
Iain Matthews “Valley Hi”. Michael Nesmith cut a lot of great sides within and after The Monkees. To my ears almost nothing by him surpasses the achievement of helming this album. I’ve followed Matthews’s career going back to his brief time in Fairport Convention up to the last decade and I know he’s not crazy about this record but to me it’s absolutely a gem. Songs by Randy Newman, Jackson Browne, Steve Young (“Seven Bridges Road” before the Eagles recorded it) among others.
Gil Scott-Heron “Pieces Of A Man”. It had to be a long shot that an AM rock station would put “Lady Day and John Coltrane” on their playlist but that’s what KRLA in Pasadena did. And so I heard it and began an appreciation of Gil Scott-Heron that I continue to hold.
Marc Benno “Minnows”. This was another AM radio long shot in 1971 and KRLA won the day again for “Speak Your Mind”. A ballad that ebbs and flows in intensity. Jim Keltner’s drumming first caught my ear on this song. This was around the time that Benno was playing rhythm guitar with The Doors on the L.A. Woman sessions, and after his collaborations with Leon Russell on the Asylum Choir albums. Many friends of mine also appreciate this album.
Weather Report “Sweetnighter”. Previously unaware of Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul, I saw Weather Report in July of 1973 and “Boogie Woogie Waltz” convinced me that I needed to dig more deeply into this music.
Fairport Convention “What We Did On Our Holidays”. Along with the records that Nick Drake would make a few months later, sums up for me some great years of British “folk rock”.
10cc “Sheet Music”. Between their first two albums this one comes out on top for me. It’s close. I was a fan from the release of “Rubber Bullets”.
Harry Belafonte “Calypso”. “Jamaica Farewell” was likely the first set of song lyrics I memorized. Mum had his playing often in our apartment in the late ‘50s.
Brinsley Schwarz “Nervous On The Road”. I like this best of the band’s records (it may be because adding Ian Gomm to the band was so complimentary to the talents of Nick Lowe, Brinsley, Bob Andrews and Billy Rankin). For this pick I could have swapped out Dave Edmunds’s “Get It” or the Rockpile album “Seconds of Pleasure” but since the list is supposed to describe how my tastes were influenced it makes sense to refer to early period Brinsley. Made me a Nick Lowe fan for life.
The Monkees “Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd.”. My introduction to the group. I hadn’t seen the tv show at that time (November and December 1967) at least as far as I recall. Coming at them strictly through these tracks I was impressed by songwriting, production, vocals, guitars and humor. Not bubblegum, at all.
“Pat Metheny Group” By September 1978 I was being introduced to ECM albums by a friend. I’d enjoyed previous ones but that month when I heard the first notes of “San Lorenzo” something resonated with me that hasn’t stopped.
Graham Parker and the Rumour “Stick To Me”. This is a rough-and-ready collection produced by Nick Lowe. Drumming by Steve Goulding, guitar leads by Martin Belmont are highlights. The title song, “Soul On Ice”, “Clear Head” are standouts in a great set making this my favorite GP album for all time.
The Gary Burton Quartet with Eberhard Weber “Passengers”. I think this was probably the beginning of my awareness of Gary Burton’s albums. A great introduction. As a vibes player myself there are major lessons and enjoyment for me throughout his catalog.
Love “Forever Changes”. Surrounded by Love fans in my 20s but not giving the group much time of day then, I locked into the band’s and Arthur Lee’s artistry in my 40s. Like so many people I now appreciate every song on this classic album. Was fortunate to catch the 2003 edition of the band at The Fillmore.
Gene Clark “No Other”. After leaving The Byrds, Clark wrote and recorded many excellent songs showcasing his poetic and melodic gifts. This album is the top of the mountain for me, and public appreciation for the songs and the production have grown greatly in the 50 years since its release. YouTube has video of a tribute tour for the album from a decade ago.
RUNNERS-UP
Elvis Costello and the Attractions “Imperial Bedroom” and “This Year’s Model”
XTC “English Settlement”
Beach Boys “Summer Days (and Summer Nights!)” and “Sunflower”
(Many) Iain Matthews records across the decades, along with titles by his Fairport mates Sandy Denny, Dave Mattacks, Richard Thompson, Ashley Hutchings, Judy Dyble. A nod too to drummer Martin Lamble who had a playing style so well suited to their early records.
Buffalo Springfield “Retrospective”
Carpenters “Ticket to Ride”
Rolling Stones “December’s Children”
The Move “Shazam”
Joni Mitchell “For the Roses”
Bruce Springsteen “The Wild The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle”
Beatles single “Rain” b/w “Paperback Writer”
Man (The Man Band from Wales) "Back Into the Future"

If it's not too much to ask, I'd love to hear about Yours, Sea Wolf, and Blood Type!!
No, not at all :)
“Yours” – is pretty much a short follow up to “Three’s a Charm”
Scott can’t help the fond grin that spreads across his lips. It’s been a couple of months since Liam and Theo crashed his disastrous dinner date on Valentine’s Day and had mind-blowing and scorching sex before ending up in polyamorous relationship with his two betas. Scott had to admit he was a little apprehensive at first seeing as Liam and Theo have been in a relationship for decade, but really, he has nothing to worry about. Even now, as Liam and Theo continue to mess with Mason and Nolan and the others by being overly touchy feeling in front them, Scott’s glad that they found and have each other. They’re like a solidified unit these days, strong and powerful yet also incredibly cunning and Scott knows all about their mischievous, deviant ways.
It makes his jeans feel tight as he watches Theo arch his back and pronounce his ass as he lines his pool stick to take his shot and it certainly doesn’t help that Liam is right beside him, splaying his hand on the small of the chimera’s back.
“You’re drooling again,” comes Stiles’ nauseated and unamused voice, followed by Malia’s snort.
“Shut up,” Scott mutters, even though he really can’t stop himself from grinning. Stiles and Theo still really don’t get along but Scott’s starting to suspect their snarky commentary is their way communicating. “You were even worst with Lydia back in the day.”
“I was not,” Stiles insists. “Besides I can’t believe your bonking both of them. I mean sure, I get it. Theo’s always been hot and weirdly obsessed with you but Liam, he’s – ”
“Is just as hot,” Scott interrupts.
“He’s like our son. It’s like you’re defiling him,” Stiles finishes.
“I think Theo did that a long time ago,” Malia teases dryly and Kira fights to hide her smile with the back of hand.
“Legend of the Sea Wolf” – this one is an idea I’ve had for quite a while and basically I’m gonna twist some of Teen Wolf’s mythology in this and do like an urban legend/Halloween fic where Theo was the first patient of the Dread Doctors who worked at Eichen House and were fired for their inhumane experiments on their patients. I was gonna have Theo be a mix of a wolf, siren and kanima/chameleon and haunt the lake in the preserve every Halloween season searching for his soul mate with ocean blue eyes. Bodies begin to pile up all over town and when Mason goes missing, Liam goes to investigate the strange sightings in the preserve.
You’re My Blood Type (Vampire Theo) – or aka The Vampire Next Door.
A removalist van parks in the driveway of the abandoned creepy-looking Hale Manor next door, situated atop the hill that has been vacant for more than a decade gathering dust and cobwebs and Liam watches from the balcony of the Stilinski residence as people begin lugging furniture and boxes inside.
“I wonder which idiot brought that death trap,” his older brother Stiles muses, joining Liam in watching the flurry of activity as he sips one of those overly caffeinated energy drinks that Liam finds vulgar. “Probably someone weird or damn rich. Most likely both.”
“Hopefully someone who cares enough to restore it to its former glory,” Liam comments. “Some of the architectural designs date back to Roman times.”
“Nerd,” Stiles snorts. “You and your history kink.”
“What? It’s fascinating,” Liam finds himself saying. “The Hale Manor was built like a century ago. There’s even a gargoyle in the backyard and a cemetery.”
“And how would you know that?” Stiles says, quirking his eyebrows.
That’s all I have so far but basically Liam and Stiles are brothers in this and Theo moves in next door and is a descendant of the Hale’s who happen to be vampires.

Count down to the John Muir Trail 7/28/24
The hours are dissapearing, my start date feels like its been inching towards me as i'm moving through time towards it. Matter of fact it is, my start has moved from the 8th to the 6th to the 1st of August.
Because I'm hiking alone, I have the freedom to make these kinds of changes at my own discretion and though I'm not out there yet, I can already basque in the glory and solitariness of that freedom, however lonely or empowering.
I've set aside my set of clothes, one shirt, one pair of lined shorts, two pairs of socks and a hat. So that they're clean and easy to find the night before my departure, they won't be clean for very long.
My cotton button down hiking shirt, which I found as a thrift store last month already has the outline of my backpack straps bleached into the fabric from my first time hiking in it. I've fallen sentimental to that navy blue striped shirt, when you go through really vivid experiences with only one shirt that tends to happen.
I added some seam grip to my shoes yesterday to protect the exposed threads from abrasion at the recommendation of Dan Durston, the famous prolific pack and tent maker. As I go through my pack I see only the shadow of my inspirations. Each piece of gear, I've come aware of by studying the practices of my favorite hikers. John Z, Glen Van Peski, Scott Williamson, Ray Jardine, Kerouac.
Its funny, I'm so thrilled to get out there and hike, and to document the journey, but sometimes it feels like the goal isn't grand enough, like anyone could go out and hike the JMT, somehow making it less grandesque and alluring.
This only motivates me to go out and seek more engaging experiences, like the PCT thru and the AZT. These trails have a higher barrier to entry and the rewards of completing them, I imagine are greater. I'm careful however, not to underestimate the difficulty and achievment of completing the JMT, It's still the longest toughest trail I'll have ever hiked and I'll be doing it at a very fast pace.

APPENDIX A: AUDIENCE CHOICE
Dipper/Mabel is infamous for obvious reasons, but it doesn't really crack the top five most troubling canon ships in Tamsyn Muir's Gravity Falls.
Yudkowsky inspired a whole genre of imitators, fanfic writers set on writing "Boolefic". Some noteworthy examples include Alexander Wales' With Great Power and Iceman's The Amazing Optimized Circus.
In James Frey's book A Million Little Pieces, initially sold as a memoir, he recounts a supposed incident in which, while he was homeless, a kind young woman approached him and handed him a twenty dollar bill. Another man immediately stepped in, assaulted him, stole the money, and shoved it back at the woman, trying to teach her not to give to beggars. Frey describes being forced to perform a humiliating dance in order to shame the stranger into leaving. It is doubtful that any of this ever actually happened; so many key details throughout Frey's "memoirs" have been called into question or outright disproven that they are now considered hoaxes. Random House offered full refunds to any customers who were outraged by this discovery.
APPENDIX B: LISTS AND MISCELLANEA
Philip Pullman's Methods Of Rationality trilogy:
Stargazing (sold in North America as The Man Of Light)
The Three Hallows
The Subtle Thread
Methods Of Rationality has been adapted numerous times, but the most ambitious and notable among these are the 2007 film and the 2020 BBC show. 2007's The Man Of Light was a failed franchise starter; it was a glossy adaptation, but far too cautious in its content. Cutting the film short before the Azkaban heist did something to lighten its tone (a dubious benefit at best), but also left it bereft of a climax. The material was softened considerably, and it's doubtful that the studio ever actually intended to produce subsequent films, which would inevitably have been darker. BBC's show is generally considered a pretty faithful and complete adaptation. Lin-Manuel Miranda plays Professor Quirrell.
Although Peanuts has a hard-won reputation as edgelord bullshit, Lucy van Pelt in particular stands out as an embodiment of this, easily representing all of her creators' worst impulses. Even the other characters can barely stand her. Infamously, in one of the show's darker moments, she gaslit her client Frieda into murdering her entire family, as part of a petty revenge scheme. On a more day-to-day level, she espouses all manner of bigotries, and of course much of the audience loves her for this without irony. The internet is full of uwuified in-name-only art of her, much of it yuri with the other girls on the show. She is canonically nine years old.
Andrew Hussie's MS Paint Adventures:
I Want To Play A Game
Grailquest
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
I Want To Play A Game was hardly a structured narrative at all, just a forum full of people fucking around not really trying very hard to escape from some kind of surreal serial killer barn. However, it did introduce some concepts and visual motifs that Hussie would frequently go back to (like Billy the Puppet, or the jigsaw pieces). Grailquest got unceremoniously dropped early on after Hussie realized that the gimmick he'd chosen - a classic branching choose-your-own-adventure type story - would be too much work. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is generally regarded as the one where Hussie came into his own. And of course Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is the huge sprawling one that everyone's at least heard of.
After years of fans demanding a sequel to Worm Turns Arc 1, HBO announced that they were developing a television series simply titled Worm Turns. In fact, this series, created by David Lindelof, would be an original sequel to Moore's graphic novel, focusing on a therapy group led by Victoria Dallon (the heroine formerly known as Glory Girl). Alan Moore has refused to comment on this. The show was lauded by critics for its socially aware themes, and for a time, discussion of it flooded all Worm Turns fan spaces. Many fans were fans of the HBO show exclusively, and among these, many were unaware that the show was even based on any preexisting material.
Die Hard franchise:
Die Hard
Die Harder
Die Hard 3
Die Hard With A Vengeance
Die Hard Vs. Terminator
Die Hard Vs. Terminator: Reboot
Nakatomi
Die Hard: Protect And Serve
James Cameron was only involved in the second movie, which really abandoned any sense of restraint the original had. Protagonist Jane McClane infamously dies at the end of Die Hard 3, leaving the franchise at something of a dead end. Joss Whedon's poorly-regarded Die Hard With A Vengeance simply proceeds with a new lead on a revenge quest, although it also makes heavy use of flashback as an excuse for the big-name star to still be in the movie. The Die Hard Vs. Terminator films are crossovers set in an alternate timeline in which time-traveling androids from Paul Verhoeven's Terminator franchise intervene in the original Die Hard. They couldn't actually get Sigourney Weaver back, so they settle for a close-enough recast. Nonetheless, these crossovers are weirdly consistently validated as canon to both franchises. Since the crossover period, the Die Hard films have gone full prequel, abandoning the idea of pushing the series' timeline forward.
As of season seven, the title character of Ms. Frizzle is being voiced by Jinkx Monsoon. It's a bit of a jarring change, but she's really knocking it out of the park!
J. K. Rowling's Luz Noceda series:
Luz Noceda and the Lying Witch
Luz Noceda and the Gromethean Sacrifice
Luz Noceda and the Heroine of Stone
Luz Noceda and the Missing Person
Luz Noceda and the Great Unifier
Luz Noceda and the Final Victim
Luz Noceda and the Watcher of Rain
The Luz Noceda books' titles follow a pattern where the second half of the noun phrase can be taken to refer to at least one non-Luz character, but also to Luz herself. For example, Luz Noceda and the Missing Person is the book where Luz worries that she's gone missing on Earth and it must be worrying her mother. However, the title more obviously refers to a vague unnamed character in contact with Luz's mentor Eda; this "missing person" is fading from reality due to a time anomaly. At the book's climax, this ethereal being serves as a deus ex machina, shielding Luz and her allies from harm before vanishing completely. In subsequent books, after a misadventure through time, Luz blames herself for this. The "missing person" is frequently considered another representation win for Luz Noceda, as it's suggested that they were once a romantic partner of Eda's, but their gender remains ambiguous. However, though Rowling has sometimes teased in interviews at the idea that this figure might have been a woman, she has generally held firm that as their identity was erased, everything about them is intended to remain open to interpretation.
Ariana Grande played Vriska in the Homestuck movie. This isn't a big deal. Vriska isn't a big deal. She doesn't stand out as any particular discourse magnet. Any discourse that does arise is poorly-veiled discourse about the actress. She looked cool and had a cool fight scene and sung a cool song and that was about it. Historical footnote. End of post.
There is now another appendix here.
Terrible Visions
A scrambled timeline is a timeline that has proceeded much like ours, except that some particular facet has been mixed up all over the place. For example, in the scrambled timeline we will consider today, our world's fictional stories have been told by different people, and in different ways.
Bryan Lee O'Malley, in this alternate timeline, is best known as the cartoonist responsible for Homestuck, a popular comic series about a group of children who become embroiled in a cosmic-scale video game known as Sburb. Although Homestuck is probably most often associated with the cult classic Edgar Wright-directed film adaptation released in 2016, the comics themselves are highly-regarded, and the film brought a new audience to them. Netflix has commissioned an animated continuation, The Homestuck Epilogues, which is due to be released soon.
Andrew Hussie, on the other hand, is a figure you're likelier to know if you're overly online. His "MS Paint Adventures" series - most notably including Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, which is kind of like Homestuck but weirder and hornier - have firmly remained a fixture of obsessive Twitter fandom culture. It doesn't help that the best-known iteration, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, is infamous for stretching thousands of pages of meandering digressions out of a simple and focused narrative starting point. Scott Pilgrim fans have developed something of a toxic reputation, which is not entirely deserved - although of course Knives discourse is interminable, and back in the fandom's heyday there were reportedly incidents of fans assaulting each other "for being evil exes".
Scott Pilgrim fandom was very big back in the day, though, and consequently it was a nexus for other creative figures who would go on to surpass Hussie. Perhaps foremost among these is indie developer Toby Fox. He was literally living in Hussie's basement when he produced ROSEQUARTZ, a universally-beloved retro Goonies-like RPG about a human hybrid boy born to a race of gem-based aliens. He's now developing an episodic spiritual successor, RAZORQUEST, with more overtly dark themes. It revolves around an inheritance dispute among a demon-summoning family.
Other foundational figures in this timeline's internet culture include Alison Bechdel, who helped get the webcomic scene started. Although she's now more seriously acclaimed for her personal memoirs, her gaming webcomic Press Start To Dyke, which premiered in 1998, was once everywhere. It had a broad appeal, and at its height, it was common to see even straight guys sharing pages from it. Time has not been especially kind to it, though, and at this point its main legacy is test.png, a meme spawned by one of the comic's most ill-advised pages.
Then there's John C. McCrae, more often known by his pseudonym Wildbow. A prolific and reclusive author of doorstopping "web serials" - long-form fiction published online - McCrae's best-known serial is still his first, Wind, a noir superhero story set in an alternate history where capes are mostly just a subculture of unpowered vigilantes. Wind landed in a culture already rife with comic book deconstructions, like Alan Moore's 2002 graphic novel Worm Turns, but it nonetheless managed to stand out from the pack with its extensive cast of characters and its themes of coordination problems and the end of the world. Later McCrae web serials include Part (the first "Otherverse" serial; an urban fantasy story about a couple who die in a car accident and find that they have become ghosts), Tear (a "biopunk" story set in a collapsing underwater city), Warn (the controversial Wind sequel), and Play (the second "Otherverse" serial, set in a small Indiana town that helps hide a psychic girl from the CIA).
Last and perhaps least, we should discuss J. K. Rowling. Far and away the most famous of any of these authors, Rowling's name is inseparable from the YA series that she debuted with, the Luz Noceda books, which remain her one successful work. Although it was heavily derivative of older fantasy novels - like Jill Murphy's Academy For Little Witches, or Philip Pullman's Methods Of Rationality trilogy - Luz Noceda was still a monumental and unprecedented success in the publishing industry, and the film adaptations were consistent blockbusters. The final book, Luz Noceda and the Watcher of Rain, contained some allusions to a romantic relationship between Luz and her recently-redeemed associate Amity. Rowling confirmed that this was her intent in subsequent interviews and indicated that she had fought her publishers for it; the film would then go on to escalate matters slightly further.
There have been many lengthy and heated online arguments as to whether the references in the book itself constitute text or mere subtext. Whatever your stance on this discourse, a new complication has been introduced recently: although she has put out no official statement on the matter as of yet, it has become quite apparent from Rowling's shrinking network of contacts and her conspicuous silences that she is certainly TERF-sympathetic, and likely an outright TERF herself. For many, this is leading to a critical reevaluation of the social values inherent in the Luz Noceda series; others, to say the least, are holding off on that kind of reappraisal.
Anyway, Scott Pilgrim just beat Luz Noceda in a Twitter poll for Most Gay Media, and people are piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed
