An appeals court on Wednesday granted the Hong Kong government's request to ban a popular protest song, overturning an earlier ruling and deepening concerns over the erosion of freedoms in the once-freewheeling global financial hub. "Glory to Hong Kong" was often sung by demonstrators during huge anti-government protests in 2019. The song was later mistakenly played as the city's anthem at international sporting events, instead of China's "March of the Volunteers," in mix-ups that upset city officials. It was the first time a song has been banned in the city since Britain handed the territory back to Chinese rule in 1997.

(Glory to Hong…

uncle gogo = gojo
it always starts the same way. gojo, in all his insufferable glory, casually drops that he’s taking babykuna out. milan? paris? hong kong? tokyo? “already been there,” sukuna replies smugly each time, arms crossed, watching gojo’s confident smirk start to falter. but this is gojo we’re talking about. he steps up his game. he pushes up his sunglasses, leans down to babykuna’s height, and with the most dramatic, reverent whisper asks,
“have you been to equestria?”
silence.
babykuna’s eyes go wide. her little hands clutch her labubu tight. her tiny body vibrates like she’s just downed a gallon of sugar. “EQUESTRIA?!” she screeches, sending labubu flying across the room as she grabs gojo’s face with both hands. “i can go to equestria?! THE land of my little pony?!”
“of course!” gojo grins. “we’ll meet rainbow dash, twilight sparkle, and—”
he doesn’t even get to finish before she’s sprinting around the living room in pure, unfiltered joy. gojo, just as hyper, joins her, spinning in circles like he’s five years old too. babykuna suddenly stops mid-spin. “mama! mama!” she cries, running up to you.
“pplllleeeeasseeeee pack my rainbow dash onesie! uncle gogo and i are going to equestria!”
you’re still trying to process everything, but sukuna? oh, he’s sulking. arms crossed, brows furrowed, a dark cloud hanging over his head as he glares at gojo, who’s currently flapping his arms like wings and making airplane noises. “i don’t see what’s so great about a bunch of damn ponies,” sukuna grumbles.
gojo grins, tossing an arm around his shoulder. “oh, don’t feel bad, sukuna. the ponies just wouldn’t like you.”
babykuna, nodding very seriously, chimes in, “yeah, papa. they wouldn’t.”
if sukuna wasn’t already sulking, he sure as hell was now.

Hello Cdrama fans! The signups for the Yuletide fic exchange close in a little over forty-eight hours, and there are a ton of Cdrama fandoms nominated. I'd LOVE to see some more Cdrama fans on board (and not just because almost all my nominations are that).
Yuletide is an annual fic exchange for rare and obscure fandoms run through the Archive of Our Own. Participants sign up to write a story of at least 1,000 words in a fandom someone else has requested, using the selected characters from that fandom. In return, they receive a story of at least 1,000 words in a fandom they have requested, featuring requested characters.
Please read this FAQ and the Rules before deciding whether to participate.
I had so much fun doing this last year (and I got some great Cdrama fic), so I wanted to share it here in hopes of bringing in some more participants from these fandoms.

I apologized if I missed any. I went fast so I could actually get this posted. For DONGHUA and MANHUA look under 'cartoons & comics & graphic novels'. For Chinese language movies look under 'movies'. For Cnovels (danmei and other), look under 'books and literature.' There are lots of nominations there as well. Here's the tag set!
By the way, according to Yuletide staff, the most frequently nominated fandom was Mysterious Lotus Casebook.

Crashing out today because Chuck Hansen is officially dead in our timeline and it's been almost a week.
He died thinking the only thing he was good at was being a Jaeger pilot, that the only thing he had in life was that he was useful in becoming a sacrificial lamb. The Greek levels of hero tragedy for that little Australian boy. All the glory and all the honor for the man who exploded himself with a giant bomb because that was the right thing to do. Help was there, but they couldn't reach him. It was saving him or saving the world. The boy who died so his father and dog could live. The boy who with his last breath seeks to make his father truly proud of him, because that's all he ever wanted.
Since he mother died, all he knew were the giant monsters of steel he seemed fated to pilot and the last thing he knew was the screeching of the metal trying to shield him from the blast. Until he became one with his Jaeger and disappeared with it, leaving nothing behind.
The man who got interviewed at the start of the movie and was asking "are you still going to Hong Kong?" and replied "what else there's to do?"
Fated to die, fated to be the last line between the ending of the world and a chance to save them all.
The youngest ranger in the history of the Kaiju war survived the falling of the program and kept on fighting until he saw his mission accomplished.
He's dead and in the pacrim universe, that's the only reason why there still exists a tomorrow.

What's your shadowrun games ranking? A couple of them are on game pass and I've been getting really into crpgs lately.
hong kong > dragonfall > the first one
the first shadowrun doesn't have permanent party members, which really drags it down. it means it just can't have the kind of slick interesting writing that makes the other two so good. dragonfall has a razor-tight plot and some great characters but is brought down by two key factors: its hacking gameplay is notably more annoying than hong kong's, and one of the main companions is an annoying misogynist that i hate.
hong kong, on the other hand, is a nearly perfect game. first of all, it's a really vivid bringing to life of a part of the world that, yknow, you don't get a lot of urban fantasy about. it is so refreshing to see it not doing the Fantasy Races Stand In For Real Races shit and instead have clearly east asian goblins, dwarves, orcs, etc. the gameplay is fun, the quests have a really good set of options that make nearly any playstyle feel rewarding, i really like how it gives you a set backstory but lets you make choices within it to still create and define your own character, and most of all the cast absolutely clears. i like glory as much as the next lesbian, but is0bel, gobbet, racter (one of my favourite depictions of a low-empathy character in media), and gaichu are some of the best characters i've seen in video games. duncan is there too.
plus the side cast! jomo, MAXIMUM LAW, crafty, reliable matthew, auntie... there is so much life and depth to the characters in hong kong. you can go on the computer and read in-universe forum posts by shadowrunners. it's a living breathing world and by far the best thing ever done with the shadowrun IP. play shadowrun: hong kong

man i rly am so predictable (and ill stop spamming you after this one.... at least for now lmao)
5 abo case pretty pls!

The spam is not minded at all I promise
Five I originally started for dicktimweek but it got put on the back burner and I never really visited it again. It's about alpha!Dick and omega!Tim going undercover at a bondage club to find out why people are going missing. It's meant to have a lot of sexual tension, eventually confessed feelings and instinct fuckery
I didn't get very far but I have enough to give you this:
The reports start coming in around April and continue on into July. Missing couples, always composed of an alpha and omega. The sex does not matter but the secondary gender does.
Finding out more is a frustrating dance of chasing down leads and infiltrating businesses that cater to alpha and omega clientele. The trail leads him into Newtown and onto the borders of Crime Alley.
He reaches out to Jason to see if he has any information and the case quickly goes from solo to partners. Jason is just as displeased about having his people poached and he’s been hearing disturbing rumors from his network. With the GCPD scratching their heads over the sporadic reports, it’s down to them to get to the bottom of it.
Long nights of disguises and less than stellar surroundings lead them to what appears to be the root of it all: Heat Wave, a business that caters to alpha and omega couples looking to spice up their lives. The name is cringe worthy and the mission statement is enough to earn an eye squint but nothing nefarious would seem afoot if every single one of the missing couples hadn’t been in contact before they disappeared.
He’s set to infiltrate with Jason as the final step for their plan when a distress call from the Outlaws forces Jason to depart from Gotham.
“I can get ya in,” he promises, “we’ll jus’ have t’ work a different angle.”
The ‘different angle’, of course, stands before Tim in all his radiant glory. His lips are pursed in concentration, his eyes are narrowed at the files on the computer and the long line of his body is leaned forward onto his hands. He is the absolute last—and worst—option but Tim has no choice but to bring him on because Cass is in Hong Kong and Damian is still too young.
“Walk me through it, little bird,” Dick says, hand falling hot and heavy on his shoulder like a brand.
Tim breathes through the spark of interest his touch always elicits and looks up at the file displayed. Four couples. Eight missing people. This is no time to let his personal feelings get in the way.
He takes a deep breath and begins.

@lastdaysofwar, Day 7: LOCCENT/Trust (Raleigh Becket, Tendo Choi)
Catching up with Tendo is not Raleigh’s first order of business when he gets to Hong Kong, but it’s up there. Tendo was a good friend for a long time, back in the glory days, even if Raleigh could never quite get past the thought that the guy just thought of him as Yancy’s tagalong kid brother. But Tendo hugs him like an old friend, and that means a lot. More than Pentecost’s insistence that he’s the right man for the job. More than Hansen’s gruff camaraderie. More, even, than this spark of possibility he’s feeling with the elusive Mako Mori. Yeah, Tendo is worth catching up with.
Once Raleigh is settled, he goes up to the roof, because that’s the place for deep, personal conversations in a Shatterdome. And he doesn’t have to wait around. Tendo is already there, looking out over the water, a cup of coffee in each hand.
“How’s it been hanging, brother?” Tendo asks, like this is any other day. He hands over one of the coffee cups. Raleigh takes a sip.
“Mm. Hazelnut creamer. Can’t get that with ration cards.”
“Yeah, well, don’t get too excited. It’s the non-dairy powder.” Tendo grins. Reluctantly, Raleigh grins back. He hasn’t had a real cup of coffee in a year and a half, powdered creamer or not.
“Surprised you remembered. Yancy always went for French vanilla. S’all I could ever get back then.”
“And what kind of friend would I be if I couldn’t remember both your coffee orders?”
They both drink. Raleigh has to wonder what, exactly, Tendo puts in his own coffee. He has no idea. So what kind of a friend is he?
“It’s good to see you again,” Tendo says, looking out into the night. “I wasn’t sure if you’d come, if you want to know the truth.”
“Weren’t you?” Raleigh can’t believe that. Marshal Pentecost wouldn’t have come after him if he hadn’t thought Raleigh would cave, and Tendo has always been smart enough to back the marshal’s plays. There might have been better choices out there than Raleigh, but he’s the one they knew they could get.
“You’ve earned the right to a quiet life. No one blames you for walking away from all this, and no one could blame you for staying away. Well—no one who knows a damn thing about it,” Tendo amends. He doesn’t mention Chuck Hansen by name, or the innumerable others who must blame Raleigh for his desertion, but aren’t ornery enough to say it to his face.
“The past doesn’t matter. I’m here now,” Raleigh says. “But I need you to know I’m not the same guy I used to be.”
“Of course the past matters. Past, present, and future, it all belongs to you.” Tendo drains his coffee. They lean against the railing together, shoulder to shoulder.
“We both thought we could never die,” Raleigh says, barely above a whisper. Tendo looks at him, sharp and grief-stricken after all this time. But he holds himself together, and Raleigh does the same.
“You know better now,” Tendo says. “You’re not that guy anymore. You know what you’re doing, going out there, and you know what’s worth the risk.”
“I hope I’ll do better this time around. I’ll try not to get anyone killed.” It’s going to hurt like hell getting back in that jaeger, but he has to try. Pretend to be a hero one last time.
“Don’t get all mopey on me. The marshal brought you back here for a reason.”
“I was his only option,” Raleigh reminds him.
“There were dozens of options. Untested, but any of them could pilot in a pinch. But Pentecost believes you’re the one we need. And I happen to agree with him.” He raises an eyebrow, daring Raleigh to argue. Raleigh doesn’t. He’s not exactly used to being looked to this way. Not anymore.
He sips his hazelnut coffee, and doesn’t look at his old friend.
“I’m glad it’s you, out of everyone it could have been,” Tendo says earnestly.
“Yeah, well, there’s no one I’d rather have than you, calling the shots back here.”
“I won’t steer you wrong, brother, trust me on that.”
“I trust you,” Raleigh says. “Wouldn’t have come back if I didn’t. The marshal, too. I’ll follow where he leads.” And hope, with everything in him, that he doesn’t screw things up in the end. There’s a lot riding on his shoulders, when this secret plan comes together. A lot of people trusting in one washed-up ranger to carry off his part.
“We’ll get it done,” Tendo says, without a shred of doubt.
Raleigh can only hope he’s right. They’ll save the world. Or die trying.
