TRANSITION TUTORIAL by v @shangs

I got some questions about how I did the glitch effect in this set, and I think because the glitch sets with green and magenta/red and cyan protrusions like this one are more complex that the effect seems like it’s hard, but it’s deceptively simple! I’ll show you how to do transitions like this with an effect buffer in between, whether it’s a glitch effect or a light leak or anything else.

What you’ll need:

Photoshop with timeline (I use 2022)

A transition video for the effect

Preferably, a good knowledge of how to use the timeline for gifs

Two or more gifs

Tutorial under the cut!

I start out with my two gifs, sharpened, colored, on separate documents, and in timeline mode. The first thing you’re going to do is convert both of your gifs into Smart Objects, so that we don’t have to worry about all the coloring layers. Just select everything you have in the timeline, right click, and convert to Smart Object.

Now, right click on one of the gifs, select Duplicate Layer, and transfer it to the other gif’s PSD. Then just click File > Save as Copy, save the new PSD wherever you like, and close the first two PSDS, then open the copy. I recommend not saving your work in the first two PSDS with the single gifs so that if you have something you want to change, your gif isn’t locked into Smart Object Mode and you can go back to edit things.

Now, you have both your gifs on the same canvas in the same PSD. The timeline should look like this:

Now, drag the gif you want to go second or to ‘fade in,’ so to speak, onto the row of the first. Your gifs will automatically form a Video Group and the timeline will look like this:

Now your gifs will play sequentially! I’m lucky and for some reason this almost 80 frame gif didn’t even hit 10mb, but you may need to trim some frames off the ends later if the gif is too big.

Let’s switch gears and look at this unassuming little box in the corner of the timeline. The box with the white filled in triangle on the bottom holds Photoshop’s premade transition effects. You can do things like fade to black, crossfade, just fade between two gifs, and more.

I like using the Cross Fade effect for my gifs with this method, but it’s entirely up to you what effects you apply! Some transitions may even work better without an effect. Experimentation is key.

I went ahead and applied the cross fade effect to my gif, and this is what it looks like on the timeline.

Now to add the gif effect! Make the gif however you would like. For this one I actually recommend just opening the video with File > Open as long as it’s small enough, and it’ll open as a blue box on the timeline and if you right click it you can change the speed. Regardless, what I do is just make the gif, sharpen and trim to my liking, then duplicate that layer onto my timeline (just make sure that, when you click the three lines on the timeline menu and go to Set Timeline Frame Rate, that the rate of this video is the same as the rate of your two gifs from before, or you might get some choppy frames). I then place the gif around the middle, where the transition happens - you have to scrub around to find the perfect place to put it but I like to have it so that the gif covers both ends of the transition.

To put it visually, here’s the timeline:

Your overlay gif should be outside the video group of your base gif.

I set the overlay to Screen and change the opacity. You can also add some color overlays - I actually went in with a gradient on top of the overlay, clipped it to the transition, and set it to Color so it wasn’t too bright of a white on my gif.

Save and export as normal - I like to take it back to frames mode before I save so I can keep the frame rate at 0.05 - and that’s all! A really simple way to get a sophisticated-looking transition.

oiee, tudo sim e contigo??? fiz um mini tutorial explicando do 0 como fazer os icons igual eu faço, espero que lhe ajude!

atenção: siga atentamente os passos!

1° – baixe o pack da magnífica yiza; é nele que vamos encontrar o action e darmos o efeito 3d no icon (e nesse pack ainda tem colorings maravilhosos);

2° – entre no site photopea.com no seu navegador;

3° – assim como na imagem, deslize da direita para a esquerda na parte cinza claro, onde está opções como: arquivo, editar, imagem, etc;

4° – ache a opção "janela" e clique UMA VEZ nela e aguarde abrir as opções dela. irá aparecer diversas opções, mas clique na "ações" para ativar;

5° – depois disso a opção de adicionar ações já vai estar habilitada, então feche a aba "janela" e clique em "abrir do computador", e selecione o action que baixou (ATENÇÃO: SE NÃO ACHAR O ACTION, VÁ ATÉ A LUPA DE PESQUISA E PESQUISE POR "ATN", ASSIM ELE VAI APARECER)

6° – vai aparecer um aviso mostrando que foi instalado um action no seu photopea, e pronto, o action temos; agora vamos ver como colocar ele no icon:

7° – aperte em "abrir do computador" e selecione a foto que vai usar;

8° – com a foto aberta já, vá até o quadradinho ali que deixei em destaque, e aperte 1 vez nele;

9° – aperte no retângulo que está destacado;

10° – selecione a opção "tamanho fixo";

11° – mude de 100×100 para 120×120;

12° – corte do jeito que preferir a foto, e depois arraste da direita para a esquerda a parte cinza claro;

13° – no final vai ter um ❌ e um ✔, aperte no ✔;

14° – pronto está cortado em 120×120, e do jeito que queremos, então volte deslizando a barra novamente para onde estávamos;

15° – vá até a opção "filtro" e aperte uma vez nela, aguarde abrir e depois selecione a opção "aguçar"

16° – clique em "nitidez maior";

17° – pronto, nosso icon está com qualidade e nitidez, agora aperte nesse símbolo de play que está em destaque;

18° – selecione a pasta da coloursource e depois aperte na flecha que está destacada em azul;

19° – aperte na opção "glitch effect 1" e depois no play que destaquei em verde;

20° – vá até a opção onde tem três retângulos, e aperte lá para mostrar as camadas do nosso icon, e depois aperte DUAS VEZES RAPIDAMENTE na camada "layer 1";

21° – vai aparecer essa janela, e preste bastante atenção nessa parte destacada, é somente nela que vamos mexer!

22° – deixe selecionado apenas a primeira opção, e depois clique em "aceitar"

e prontinho, seu icon já está com nitidez e efeito 3d, agora é só aplicar seu psd de preferência!

depois de colocar o psd e só salvar como jpg e ser feliz!

oi oi! ultimamente mt gente nas minhas asks tava perguntando sobre como eu finalizo as minhas capas, então resolvi tomar vergonha na cara e fazer 1 mini tutorial! O tutorial foi feito tendo em mente que quem tá lendo já tem 1 noção básica de como editar e como o Ibis funciona, ok? Mas qualquer dúvida é só comentar, ask ou me chamar na dm que eu respondo! Espero que gostem do mini tutorial<3

Capa inicial (sem psd e finalização)

link de psd que eu uso + recomendo que não simplismente jogue o psd e deixe como está, mexa nele camada por camada alterando a capacidade delas/ocultando algumas, normalmente esse novo efeito que você faz acaba combinando mais que o próprio psd!

Capa com psd

Eu gosto de colocar a versão com psd por baixo para mesclar ela com a 1 versão só pra dar um charminho (apagando algumas partes), não é obrigatório e nem faço isso em toda capa

Depois disso eu recomendo copiar a camada de overlays (os textinhos brancos na capa) e créditos pq tem vezes que eles acabam ficando mt apagados

Agora realmente para a finalização!

Eu gosto de pegar as cores que mais aparecem na capa para dar 1 harmonizada nas cores + roxo/lilás (confia que fica bom) + recomendo muito usar degrade em alguma parte dessa etapa (coloquei em clarear cores, mas tbm fica bom em clarear, tela ou luz direta)

Depois disso você vai em Filtro - Ajustar Cor - Brilho e contraste e colocar: Brilho: -1/Contraste: 1. Também recomendo B: entre -1 até 2 / Contraste: entre -2 até 3

Logo em seguida, ainda em Ajustar Cor, vai em Tom Saturação Luminosidade e colca: Tom: -1 / Saturação: 4 / Luminosidade: 1. Também recomendo T: entre -3 até 5 / S: -3 até 4 / L: -1 até 2

Feito isso, ainda em filtro, agora vá para Artístico - Aberração Cromatica Movimento e coloque essas configurações

Recomendo Di: até 3 (no máximo) / De: tanto faz na realidade, mas prefiro o 360 fixo / O: G R B

Lembrando que, quando maior a distância, mais intenso vai ficar o efeito de glitch

Importante: ao aplicar o efeito as bordas vão ficar muito intensas e recomendo deletar o excesso com a borracha! (não é obrigatório, mas eu particularmente não sou muito fã das bordas cheias de efeito)

Agora ainda em filtro vai em Borrão - Máscara de Nitidez e coloca assim

Recomendo R: até 4px / F: entre 176 até 234 + quanto maior o Raio mais intenso

Depois disso só add os overlay de iluminação, só ir no deviantart que vocês acham vários (recomendo sempre usar sobrepor, mas dependendo fica bom em clarear ou luz indireta)

E pronto!

Capa finalizada
