So Mo. ♡ Thoughts on Mo.
As JOEZCafe on Youtube so brilliantly put it, "I WOULD DIE FOR THIS CHILD."
While I'm not too fond of his Spotlight self, Mo has always been my favorite DC character, because he's just a big bundle of warm cuddles and sugar cookies. He has a bit of a bite in Dance Central 1, but mellows out a little by Dance Central 3. Besides, it's all a part of his charm. ♡ All a part of him coming off as arrogant and cocky.
Back in the day, some people frowned on Mo for abandoning Glitch at the door in DCVR. I was completely on board with it because he and Glitch were supposed to be a crew.
After everything they went through, after DC2 and DC3, Mo walked off without Glitch as though he was just some random kid he didn't even know. Pretty harsh, right?
But thanks to @dci-hq posting character lore from Twitter, I found out Mo hung out with Glitch one weekend, commenting on his sneaker collection. and there was like zero crew chemistry in dcs, despite the one wallpaper and both mo and glitch being in the game.
What makes me even more doubtful of Mo being a heartless jerk: his DCVR voicelines. He was adorable in the original trilogy, but VR cranks his cuteness up so much, it's lit. If you listen to his voicelines in a video posted by xLETmeLIVEx, there's no way you'll believe he's an asshole. It's impossible. He's a doof that loves turtles, is super affectionate towards your character (even when you're a guy character) and quite possibly suffers from mad insecurities.
i mean his 'ey, don't disappear on me, okay?' line just destroys me. every time. and hart tells you mo strikes out whenever he tries to pick up girls and i'm like WTF HOW IS THAT EVEN FUCKING POSSIBLE I WOULD DATE HIM NO SWEAT HOW CAN YOU NOT ADORE HIM
I have the deepest love and respect for his voice actor, Cisco Reyes. He makes Mo sound and feel like a real person, not just a video game character.

There's still someone in love with Dance Central. In 2021.
While I never had the honor of playing any of the games, I experienced the series through Youtube, Fanfiction.net and DeviantArt. I still watch Youtube videos of the games to this day.
My relationship with the series has been an emotional one. I was introduced to DC1 as a blind date, and was instantly smitten. The honeymoon period continued with DC2.
I was euphoric over the DC3 trailer that released while DC2 was still very much a thing. It was a relationship full of romance, action and wonder. I couldn't have been happier.
DC3 and its fandom got me through an incredibly rough patch in my life. Dance Central was my comfort blanket then. It held me close. Made me smile.
But then our relationship tapered off after DC3.
Much to my surprise, the series told me we needed some time apart. That declaration came out of nowhere, but with no small amount of sadness, I accepted it. So we went our separate ways, me feeling as though I had to abandon a huge part of myself.
Then DCS was announced. Finally, I thought, after so long I was FINALLY going to be reunited with my long lost love! And it was going to be just as it was before!
Only it wasn't.
DC came back into my life all right, but I could hardly recognize it. And it was as if it had started dating someone else. Without telling me anything. The only happiness I got out of DCS was Glitch.
(so yeah, i was one of the five people that actually loved his redesign)
My time with DCS was bittersweet. While I was happy to see Dance Central again, too much had changed for the worse, and even more was removed.
Once again, we went our separate ways, DC going off on a path far, far away from mine. Despite being brokenhearted, I was hopeful we'd meet again. And maybe, just maybe, we'd go back to the way we were.
Several years later, DCVR was announced. DC had once again evolved into something I couldn't recognize, but it was happy to see me. I couldn't buy into its return for a long time, though. Even though DC had come back, I felt so much of it was still missing.
Fast forward to March 12 2021. I finally realized I had been completely wrong about DCVR, thanks to a Youtube review of the game (and Mo's voicelines). I now see DCVR as a fun, magical adventure. One packed with adorable character lore.
Unfortunately, Dance Central left me once again, perhaps feeling as though I didn't appreciate it enough. So once again, our time together was painfully short.
But I still have faith we'll go back to the way we were. Even if the series remains in VR mode.

What I Remember from Dance Central's Old Fandom:
Everyone and their pet cat wanted to date Glitch.
A DeviantArt user by the name of Gravi-Bunni introduced me to the series, back in 2012, and I've never looked back.
Glitch must've gotten about 50 billion OC girlfriends. In about a week after DC2's release.
None of us knew Glitch's backstory during Dance Central 2's heyday, so we all had headcanons of him being homeless. I still use those headcanons.
Ziedrak.
RiffraffDC's Youtube channel.
The Behind-the-Scenes specials for DC2 and DC3.
The Route-Rendez-Vu group I ran on DeviantArt, celebrating the series.
Everybody uploading Youtube videos of themselves dancing, playing the games.
MoGlitch being a controversial ship, but no one was ever cruel to its shippers, allowing shippers to ship in peace

Dance Central Favorites.
Favorite Crew: Hi-Def
Favorite Character: Mo (there's no competition in DCVR)
Favorite DCI Member: Rasa
Game with the best choreography: Dance Central 3 (particularly OMG and Tan Step on hard difficulty)
Favorite Outfits: DC2 Mo's alternate outfit, DC1 Maccoy's default outfit, DCI Mo's outfit, DCVR Mo's alternate outfit
Favorite things about Spotlight: Glitch, the way the venues darken and sparkle
Favorite things about DCVR: Mo (hands down), the abundance of character lore
Least Favorite Things about Dance Central:
Spotlight Mo
How Mo can be seen as a jerk over the way he treats Glitch in DC2 and DCVR (makes me sad)
How there's almost no character dialogue in Spotlight, outside of the character select screen
How DCVR just ends
There being no continuation to DC3's story as of yet
DC3 Maccoy not having the quirky geekiness he had in DC1
The bizarre way Harmonix maintains radio silence about their own series
