Katy!! if you want to, how about you rank glee competitions outfits (not necessarily new directions) <3
ooooo Myle!! This is a fun ask! Sorry I'm so late responding to it I've been away from my computer a lot this week and didn't have time to sit down and rank all of these!
I've put a little tier list thing together for the ND outfits here
Tumblr media
and the reasoning and actual ranking is under the cut (worst to best) as well as some images of my fave Non ND competition outfits :)
S6 Sectionals/Regionals:
I hate it. I understand the reasoning for it but I hate it. Flashbacks to Secondary school. I know just how uncomfortable these would be, how they dance in them I have no idea. Like they look cute but NO. Just no. You're McKinley students now Warblers, learn to wear other clothes. You can dress how you want now. You could have honored Dalton by wearing navy and red and not blazers. Apparently I really hate this competition look... I thought S2 Regionals would be the losers but...
S2 Nationals:
I actually almost forgot this one! I hate it <3 the little flower at the bust for the girls, the empire waist, the white ties for the boys, it looks like they're wearing two tone shoes too 🤢 I just... no. Obviously they chose these before Kurt came back from the Warblers... huh maybe that's why most of the S2 looks are terrible. They didn't have Kurt there to guide them. Maybe the reason the only good look in S2 is the sectional's one is because Kurt maybe helped out with ideas before he transferred. Anyway I hate this look. It's boring while being way too busy, but also just black... idk i hate it.
S2 Regionals:
I love the original songs, Loser Like Me is Iconic, and sure these outfits are also Iconic but not in a good way! Those dresses are terrible, they look like bad bridesmaid dresses and they're both shiny and completely creased and the three quarter leggings are a choice. (I love the shoes though) Also the boys are litterally just wearing black, at least wear a matching tie!
S1 Sectionals:
The Only reason this is ranked higher than the S2 Regionals is the lack of leggings. it's just boring and also I hate the flats the girls are wearing and the way the belts sit just under the bust on the girls.
S1 Regionals:
Yes, this is Iconic, sure but... I've always hated it. ALL of the girls look pregnant, not just Quinn, the beehive hairdo is a Choice, and I'm not a fan of halternecks. Also the colour gold isn't the prettiest shade, and I hate the texture on the dresses. (that being said the dresses really remind me of this one I was givn from my cousin when she was clearing out her closet that I wore once for a New Years Eve party with friends in maybe my first year of uni in 2014 (or maybe the year before) except mine was black and strapless)
S5 Nationals:
Is there a reason for the pink flowers? or the pink in general? Like are they meant to symbolise something? The dresses are cute but I'm not the biggest halterneck fan and I think it annoys me where the belt lies on them because it looks like the dress is meant to be an empire waist and then it's cut awkwardly by a ribbon. It's a cute dress, why do that? I love the petticoats and the fullness of the skirt, and the shoes are cute. I don't like the boy's outfits. why are they keeping them buttoned the entire time? it makes the fit of them look awkward! the last time they wore white blazers (S3 secionals) they unbuttoned them as they danced and the lines looked better. I hate that I don't really like these outfits because I love the setlist so much and it makes me cry everytime.
S3 Sectionals:
Love it! The boys look interesting and dynamic for once, i love the tuxs(?) a lot and Quinn and Tina look so good 😍 I love thier skirts so much and their shoeessss! Kurt and Blaine were definately the ones to push for everyone wearing bowties.
S2 Sectionals:
again with the three quarter length leggings... and all of them are different lengths too, i mean i know it's 2010 but like... no! But i love this anyway. I love the ombre look and the shoes are adorable. I also really like the burgandy shirts the boys are wearing.
S4 Sectionals:
I love the dresses and the shoes and the boys outfits are nice with the blazers with gold piping but the girls dresses are just inferior versions of the S3 Regionals dresses, though i do prefer the wider band at the waist I miss the red petticoat and the neckline isn't as pretty or flattering as the S3 regionals dress.
S6 Invitationals:
I love these looks so much! Finally switching up the shirt colours for the boys again instead of them in just black or white! it's such a pretty blue too and the shades of the dresses and the shirt match! I love the lace on the girl's dresses (i just recently rewatched this episode and was mezmerised by the dresses) and the strappy heals are really cute.
S4 Regionals:
😍 the girl's dresses are so so so so soooooo pretty! I love the purple and the little belt and the fullness of the skirt and the neckline and the black petticoat anahsdkaghk. and the shoes are so cute too. Great look!
The boys however 😬 I don't like it. Why cardigans? They look like they're wearing school uniforms and ugly ones at that. The cardigans are baggy on all of them! I would have preferred maybe a simple black shirt rolled up the the elbows and purple tie combo, OR just a purple shirt with sleaves rolled to the elbows (kinda like S2 sectionals) also their ties are ever so slightly lighter than the girl's dresses and that is really annoying me.
S3 Regionals:
Yes. just YES. I love the fullness of the skirts, I love the red petticoats for some McKinley High spirit, I love the gold accents at the neckline and the belt and the headband, the girls also have these cute shoes too. And then there's the boys with their all black with gold accents! I love that too! I maybe would have had them wearing something red - maybe the shirts, maybe the bow ties, maybe the suspenders - but I still love the look!
S3 Nationals:
The t-strap shoes 😍 I love the cute sort of vintage style the girls have with the shoes and the hair! I would have maybe added a red lip on all of the girls to complete the look, like Rachel has and maybe had rachel have her hair up too, but I guess she's the lead soloist so it makes some sence to make her stand out a bit from the other girls. I alo love these dresses. I think my favourite dresses are the ones where they have really full skirts. The boys are cute and I like the matching pop of red in the ties but I maybe would have lost the vests, personally, and maybe they should be wearing bowties to match the little bow on the girl's dresses. hmm maybe all black with red bowties and a red belt/cumberbund as an inverted look of the girls and also maybe long sleaves rolled to the elbow.
Non ND competition outfits I love:
Tumblr media
The Warblers!
Yes, their uniforms may uncomfortably remind me of my own School Uniform for Secondary (ours were red and black striped ties and solid black blazers with black skirts/trousers but close enough) but they are iconic 🥰
Tumblr media
Harmony and whatever her Show Choir was called.
I love the boy's outfits with the untied bowties, but most of all I love the girl's dresses and the slicked back hair and red lips. I wish Harmony had been a sort of antagonist in S4 like it seemed they were alluding too with her line of "I'm only a Sophmore" I love her.
Tumblr media
Vocal Adrenaline S2 Nationals
I think I just like it when the boys are wearing a coloured shirt, also these dresses are stunning and I remember wanting to find something like them for my Prom! (my Prom dress was kinda like these but long and one shoulder and not as poofy) - I also like the bohemian rhapsody look for the guys i just don't like the girl's dresses much
Tumblr media
The Rainbow Connection dudes:
I hope they had more members than in this image... that is not a regulation team. BUT I love the fact that they look like butlers.
Tumblr media
John Baptiste and his Show Choir:
Yes. the girls poofy dresses, the boys colourful suits, the costume change. just yes. these guys understand show choir. (however the turquoise of the girls dresses with the blue of the boys is annoying me)
Tumblr media
S6 The Falconeers (or whatever)
I mean... they had falcons with them, plus cute turquoise dresses with sparkles, what's not to like!?
Tumblr media
Vocal Adrenaline S6 Invitationals:
These guys went all out, I mean it's hideous but... wow
(that's all that's coming to my head in terms of Non ND outfits but a lot of the time they were better than NDs lol)

Reviewing/ranking of the Duets (2.04) episode of Glee!!!
Tumblr media
I got this request not only from a friend on Tumblr, but also on Instagram!! I'm so happy this one was picked, it's my current favorite :)
Starting off with my least favorite moment of this episode:
How Finn acted towards Kurt when he wanted to sing a duet with Sam 😑 Yes, I'm aware Kurt pushed a few boundaries when he had a crush on Finn, but I believe all he ever wanted was to be loved and wanted. Finn really had no right to say the things he said, and it pisses me off. Once again, Finn is looking like one of the heros because of getting Quinn and Sam to sing together, but I bet you he didn't even think about how that would've made Kurt feel. Being told that singing a duet with someone would cause that person to get bullied. AND TELLING SAM SINGING WITH KURT WOULD BE A DEATH SENTENCE 😃😃😃 LET'S THINK ABOUT KURT'S FEELINGS FOR JUST A MOMENT PLEASE FINN!?!? I could rant about how mad that makes me for a very long time so I should probably quit while I'm ahead- Let me just say, I hate how Kurt was treated in this episode 😥
Now for my favorite moment:
KURT'S SONG. KURT'S SONG. KURT'S SONG.
OH MY GOSH I'M SO OBSESSED WITH LE JAZZ HOT. He didn't let his loneliness and disappointment stop him from slaying this competition 😭 It was so fluffing fabulous and creative, I just don't think I'll ever get over that performance. AND ALSOOOOO CAN WE PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE HIS OUTFIT IN THAT SCENE????
Tumblr media
LIKE OH MY GOODNESS IT'S SO FUDGING GORGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!! 😩😩 AND HIS MAKEUP-
Tumblr media
SLAYED. SLAYED. SLAYED. AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I CANNOT. Once again, I could ramble about this for quite a while, but I sadly must move on 😔😔😔
Now for my ranking of the songs:
1. Le jazz hot (Shocker 😱)
2. River deep, mountain high
3. Sing!
4. Happy days are here again/get happy
5. Don't go breaking my heart
6. Lucky
7. With you I'm born again
💜💜💜
Alrighty!! Thank y'all for reading this if you did, I appreciate you <3 I'll tag my friend in the comments, a big thanks to her! And if you guys would like to follow my Instagram, the @ is just the same as my Tumblr :) I hope you all have a wonderful day!! And if anyone has anything you'd like to see me post, let me know! Bye now!! 💛

miasswier’s ultimate glee ranking: no 14
14: Original Song
Tumblr media
Written by: Ryan Murphy Directed by: Bradley Buecker
Overall Thoughts: I feel like not putting this episode in my top ten is probably an unpopular opinion. Honestly, I love this episode, but the amount of Finn/Rachel/Quinn that I’m forced to sit through is exhausting. Literally everything else is awesome, though. It’s funny, it’s serious, and it’s a great ensemble episode. Also, Klaine.
What I Like:
I love all the original songs! I love the shitty ones, I love the good ones… I wish they’d done more original songs instead of just forgetting about them after “New York”
Klaine is basically the main plot of this episode, and I love that. I really, really, love that.
The Brittana scene at their lockers is awesome and cute, and then turns to hilarious so quickly as soon as Sue gets involved.
Sue literally throwing sticks at Mercedes head is so immature and ridiculous.
I really like that the episode opened with a musical number! This is actually one of the few episodes where there’s just a shit ton of musical numbers and I actually think it works. I can’t think of any song I would remove from this episode (usually I can think of at least two). It just works.
Fuck “Trouty Mouth” makes me laugh so goddamn hard. I also love how after, when Puck starts singing his song, Santana turns to Sam like “what the fuck” and he just throws it back in her face. God, they could have been the absolute best frenemies. It’s too bad Glee didn’t give them that much to work with.
“Hell to the No” is amazing as a song, as a performance, and also because it gives us the first hints of Samcedes (YES I KNOW I’M REACHING HERE LEAVE ME ALONE)
I LOVE the “Blackbird” performance. Kurt is so gorgeous in his mourning outfit, and the way he is genuinely upset about losing Pavoratti is so sweet. The fact that Blaine is the first one to jump in with the back-up has always made me happy, especially since it’s the first time we actually see Blaine doing back-up vocals. And then, Blaine’s face as he realizes that he actually wants to be with Kurt, that he wants to give it a shot, that screw just being friends and screw worrying about screwing it up, being with Kurt is worth it. UGH. I LOVE THIS SCENE.
The Klaine kiss scene, which I can still literally recite from memory that’s how many fucking times I’ve watched it.
Considering how much Kurt was about “the touch of the fingertips is as sexy as it gets” one episode ago, he sure as fuck dives in fast for that second kiss.
I do really like the scene where Rachel is writing “Get It Right”. Breaks my heart.
Rachel getting MVP. I wish they had kept this tradition up, but I’m also fully aware that Rachel and Finn would have literally won every single one of those awards, so I’m also kind of glad they didn’t.
“We got each other out of all this. That means a lot more than some lousy trophy, don’t you think?” JUST STAB ME RIGHT IN THE HEART.
The short scene before the Warblers go out between Kurt and Blaine.
What I Don’t Like:
Look, I don’t want to get too into details about this, because I feel like I have fully expressed my frustration with the Quinn/Finn/Rachel love triangle over the past 106 reviews, so all I will say is this: the fact that they took Kurt and Blaine’s first duet as a couple and made it about the Quinn/Finn/Rachel drama makes my blood boil to this very fucking day.
Also, this is more a frustration about Rachel than it is about the whole Fuinchel shit, but why is it that Rachel literally cannot feel good about herself unless she is putting somebody else down? It’s not enough for her to be a good singer, she has to be better than Mercedes, Kurt, and Santana. It’s not enough that Finn loves her, she has to go out of her way to remind everyone that Finn chose her over Quinn. It’s like it matters more that she beat Quinn than it does that Finn wanted to be with her. It’s SO annoying. And Quinn is right: it’s a sign of immaturity, and it’s too bad they didn’t really let her mature from this until like, season six.
The fact that Finn acted like he spoke for the entire Glee club when he said that they should do original songs, implying that everyone agreed because Finn agreed to it, not because Quinn agreed to it, which is really why they were all down for it. It’s particularly annoying considering he acted like nobody would agree with him if he’d stood up for Rachel on this back in “Comeback”.
It does suck that they’re back to their formula of Finn and Rachel being the only ones to sing at a competition. I don’t mind “Get It Right” as a Rachel solo, but I really wish “Loser Like Me” had been an actual group number instead of a Finn and Rachel duet masquerading as a group number.
Songs:
Misery: I really like this performance. I think it’s hilarious, and it really sets the tone for the episode (especially the Klaine story). As a song, well, it’s one of those ones that I listened to on a constant loop and now can’t hear outside of the context of the episode because I just overplayed it way too much.
Only Child: Hilarious. It’s too bad we only got to hear two of Rachel’s terrible original songs. I know there were at least a dozen more that were so terrible even she scrapped them without even showing Finn.
Blackbird: I’ve already talked about this one above, but seriously. Such a good performance. Amazing vocals, too. Why did Kurt barely get solos again?
Trouty Mouth: The height of comedy. Will anything ever be as iconic as this?
Big Ass Heart I mean, it’s hilarious, and Will’s faces are so fucking funny throughout, but he is still calling Lauren fat through this song.
Hell to the No: Again, iconic. I love it.
Candles: I actually don’t mind it as a song, but it has always sat wrong with me that the first song Klaine sing as a couple is a break-up song, and that it actually mirrors the Quinn/Finn/Rachel stuff more than their own relationship. Ugh, Glee.
Raise Your Glass: Love this one! An amazing performance and an amazing song!
Get It Right: I also really like this one. It’s one of the few moments on Glee where they actually let Rachel be genuine in her pain, her guilt, her anger, and her sadness. So often all of the emotions Rachel displays are born from a sense of injustice towards herself, most of the time unwarranted, and then when she actually is in her right to be angry they underplay it. It’s nice, for once, to see her react accordingly to a situation. Plus, it made for an amazing song.
Loser Like Me: I’ll be honest, I prefer the acustic version from “New Directions” to this version. I do still like it, but it does also feel like we’re stepping back into season one, where Finn and Rachel are the only ones allowed to sing.
Final Thoughts: This is really a fantastic episode. It’s hilarious, it’s emotional, it’s real. Aside from the nonsense still being forced down our throats regarding Finn/Quinn/Rachel, it’s really well-rounded and just plain good. Like, really good. Plus, the beginning of Klaine! I don’t think I’ll ever forget the sheer joy I felt the first time I saw this episode. I was totally spoiler free, and genuinely didn’t expect that they would get together so soon. I still feel that same joy watching it now, even after a million re-watches. It just never gets old.

The Sanders Games- Part 2 (Welcome to the Capitol)
(Find a link to previous parts in my reblog. Also, it looks like according to the poll updates to this story will be posted on Fridays!)
Summary: In the 75th Hunger Games, only one male* tribute is chosen from each of the twelve districts. Watch as they survive the opening ceremonies and head to the first day of training.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deceit idly flicked through the channels on the screen, watching the recordings of the other reapings throughout the nation. He wanted to get a read on his opponents, scope out the competition before meeting them in person.
“Oh, good lord.” Deceit groaned, stopping to watch the reaping of District 1 where the princely figure flaunted in front of the crowd. “Did he really just declare himself the victor? What an arrogant capital lapdog.” Clearly just another poser from the luxury district who cared more about how his weapon made him look than how to hold it properly.
The career from District 2 was not much better. A tall, muscular fellow that was the epitome of brawn over brains. Deceit merely rolled his eyes, unimpressed as the tribute tried to intimidate the audience. Could this tribute tear Deceit apart with his bare hands? Oh, absolutely. But Deceit would never let him get the chance.
The non-career districts were hardly worth watching. Most of them appeared as nothing more than little lambs, ripe for the slaughter. District 8, the youngest, was sure to gain sympathy votes, but would be picked off soon enough. District 7 had some muscle on his bones, but no more than District 2. The tribute from the coal mines honestly looked like some sort of feral rat, more equivalent to vermin than a worthy opponent.
No, the only one who truly caught Deceit’s attention was the boy from district 3. Logan Ward, the glasses-clad fellow who had volunteered. Why had he volunteered? Was it to spare a friend’s life? But no, Logan hardly acknowledged the original individual who was chosen as he walked up onto the steps.
Deceit rewound the tape, watching again to analyze his every move. At first glance Logan appeared not to be out of the ordinary, but something about him gave Deceit pause. Underestimating an opponent was the deadliest mistake in the games, and the gleam in Logan’s eye made Deceit wonder if his victory would not be as easily won as he thought. This was going to be more than just a battle royale; this was chess, and Deceit had never lost a match.
“We’re nearing the capital.” His male mentor informed him, glancing out the window. The female mentor from District 4 was there as well, looking quite irate at the lack of female tributes. Still, both mentors seemed competent enough, in their own way. Deceit found himself wondering which underhanded strategy they had used to gain their titles of victor. After all, no one came out of the games with a clean conscious. Thankfully Deceit wasn’t going into the games with one, either.
“You’ll need to establish your rank quickly.” The female mentor spoke up. “The career pack is vital, but district four is often underestimated. If you falter, you’ll quickly be tossed aside.”
Every year the career districts were known to form a pack, and use their superior skill sets to wipe out the competition before inevitably turning on each other. Deceit intended to keep to this tradition, as he had no problems stabbing a career in the back when it came down to the final days. In fact, Deceit reveled in the idea, knowing it would make good coverage in the eyes of a gamekeeper.
“I can handle myself.” Deceit assured her, sitting up straight. Deceit had learned quickly that, lacking muscle of his own, manipulation was his key to success. It would only be a matter of hours before Deceit had every tribute wrapped around his little finger.
He gazed out the window, watching the gleaming city coming rapidly into view. The glittering skyscrapers were probably meant to bestow a feeling of awe and nationalism, but Deceit merely found the architecture distasteful.
“First we’ll be heading to meet your stylist.” The male mentor glanced at the itinerary. “You’ll need to be prepped for the opening ceremonies.”
Deceit nearly groaned at the reminder, having almost forgotten all the pageantry associated with being a tribute. The ceremonies, the training, the interviews… all of it was so bland. Deceit knew how to weasel his way through a conversation, but the trivial minds of the Capital merely bored him. No matter, Deceit would just have to grin and bear whatever ridiculous contraption his stylist found fitting for his district. The games would be here soon enough.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oooh, yes, you’ll do nicely.” The stylist circled Magenta, looking over his various features. “You’ve got a young face, but decent bone structure. You might even stand a chance.”
Magenta stood perfectly still, his eyes following the stylist. He felt as though he was being encircled by sharks. What sort of getup would they throw him in before waltzing him around onstage? District 8 was famous for having ridiculous outfits, a nod to the textile industry. Magenta had seen older tributes look more like a pile of quilts than a stone blooded killer.
“Now now, don’t look so timid!” The stylist laughed, putting his hand beneath Magenta’s chin so the twelve-year-old was forced to meet his gaze. “I’ve spent plenty of time in the capitol, I know what makes those crowds go nuts. We’re going to doll you up, make you look fabulous.”
“You’re going to make me into a prop.” Magenta corrected.
“It’s better to be a prop than a corpse.” The stylist reminded him, causing him to shudder. “I’m here to help you, kid. Sponsorships make the victor. You need to stand out in the crowd or none of the viewers will care about you.”
“And how do I do that?” Magenta asked, rubbing at his chin as it was finally released. “Act small and meek? Try not to look like prey?”
“Please, that’s been there, done that.” The stylist scoffed. “Booooo-ring. No, you need a name for yourself, a brand if you will. It’s right there in your name: Magenta. We’ll capitalize on it. From now on, everything from the tips of your shoes to the tips of your hair will be in that magnificent hue.”
“…great.” Magenta winced. He was going to die as a crayon.
It ended up looking just as ridiculous as he thought. While the stylists cooed over him in the mirror, Magenta could only grimace. He didn’t recognize himself at all. They had put some sort of Botox in his cheeks to make them more visible, and now Magenta hesitantly touched at it, trying to find something familiar in his reflection.
The other tributes seemed to find his new regalia just as humorous, all pointing and snickering behind his back. Some even gave him looks of pity. Of course, as soon as his chariot rounded the gates, he soon realized his stylist might have been right. The crowd went wild, all screaming with glee at his new hair color.
“He’s so cute!” “Look at his hair!” “HA- Magenta, that’s marvelous!”
Magenta grinned, basking in the glory. He put his hands to his mouth, blowing kisses at the ones who made the comments. The women nearly fainted, fanning their faces. It seemed out here Magenta was not out of place, as several of the citizens liked to embellish themselves in ridiculous hues. They got a kick out of Magenta’s outfit, seeing it as a nod to their rainbow culture.
“Ooooh, looks like someone’s a crowd favorite!” The announcer’s voice echoed through the bleachers.
Magenta stood taller, giving a dazzling smile. Perhaps he stood a chance in these games after all, if so many people were cheering his name. He could feel several of the more handsome tributes glaring daggers into his back, but Magenta knew that his focus had to be on entertaining his newfound fans.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Patton walked into the first day of training, taking a deep breath. It felt a bit like the first day of school, but with more murderous intent. He tried to smile and wave at the other tributes, but many of them either scowled or cowered.
Okay...so much for killing them with kindness.
Patton liked to believe everyone was a good person. When he looked out on the wave of faces, he didn’t see murderers; he just saw a bunch of scared little kids, just like him. Even the careers had to have mercy somewhere in their hearts, even if it was deeply, deeply buried.
It really wasn’t any of the tributes fault, though. Whatever happened in the games, Patton couldn’t blame someone for just doing what it took to try to get home. He knew if he died and came back as a ghost he wouldn’t haunt them, either.
But Patton, unlike many of the poorer district tributes, hadn’t accepted the fact that he was going to die yet. He didn’t want to think about that possibility, of one of these kids skewering him like a kabob. Patton wanted to survive, but he also didn’t want to kill anybody, so his only hope was surviving until his peers died of natural causes, which wasn’t a very nice thing to hope for at all so Patton tried not to think about that either.
Instead, Patton thought about knots. He focused at his station, tying knot after knot and feeling his stomach twisting in much the same way. The loneliness was really the worst part. With a friend, maybe this would be bearable.
“Other way.”
“Huh?” Patton looked up, having heard the kid next to him speak. The kid shrunk back a bit but pointed at Patton’s rope.
“You’re twisting it the wrong way.”
“Oh, thank you so much!” Patton gave him a large grin, fixing his rope.
The boy blushed. “Yeah, no problem.”
“What’s your name? My name’s Patton.” Patton set down his rope, sticking out his hand.
“I’m Emile.” Emile shook it tentatively. “You’re the boy from eleven, right?”
“Yup! And you’re ten?” Patton guessed, getting a nod in response. “Hey, that’s awesome! We’re like the food district twins.”
“I mean, I guess so.” Emile shrugged.
“Do you like food?” Patton asked earnestly.
Emile gave him a strange look. “...yes?”
“That’s great!” Patton cheered. “I love food! We have so much in common.” Emile chuckled at his silly enthusiasm, and Patton knew his strategy was working. “Say, if we both love food so much, maybe we should eat lunch together. What do ya say?”
“...works for me.” Emile agreed. Internally, Patton was throwing a party, pleased to have made his first Ally. With any luck, Emile would be far from the last.

We would like to welcome Justine as Rachel Berry. Please read over the checklist. You have 24 hours to send in your account.
OUT OF CHARACTER
NAME/ALIAS: Justine PREFERRED PRONOUNS: She/her YOUR AGE: 18 TIMEZONE:gmt+1 ACTIVITY LEVEL: Idk? I’ll always be online for at least a few hours per day. Sometimes I start struggling with work or just feel grouchy, but I’ll always try to be as active as possible. ACCEPTED SHIPS: /chemistry UNACCEPTED SHIPS: /no chemistry.
IN CHARACTER
CHARACTER DESIRED: Miss Rachel Barbra Berry ★ THEIR SEXUALITY: Rachel doesn’t like to specifically label her sexuality - her Fathers have always encouraged a healthy amount of exploration in terms of her romantic and sexual attractions - so I’ll say pansexual, for now. THEIR BIRTHDAY: 18th December, THEIR AGE: 16.
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY
There was never any doubt within the Berry Family that the birth of Rachel Barbra Berry was going to be anything less than epic. Even as a two month year old baby, being swirled around, adored by all, in her Fathers arms, Rachel was spoiled rotten as a little girl; being handed gifts, outbursts of love and anything she could possibly ask for until she was, quite frankly, rest assured that she was the most important miracle to ever gift the Earth. Her childhood was nothing less than perfect - from the age of three years old, Rachel was receiving weekly dance lessons, vocal lessons and taking part in various different local Musicals; the endless amount of trophies overwhelming the Berry household shelves until her Fathers simply started building more furniture in order to maintain the high standard of talent their darling daughter was producing. Rachel was introduced to the competitive world straight away; being entered into every possible competition to ensure she grew up with a vital competitive edge to her personality that she now displays in the McKinley Halls.
Being seated in front of a television as a young girl to first watch Funny Girl, was, in fact, the turning point for Rachel Berry. Her eyes widened in a previously unknown amount of passion and determination as she watched her soon-to-be idol Barbra Streisand fill her heart with devotion. Of course, in the immediate aftermath Rachel badgered her Fathers until they relentlessly agreed to buy her endless amount of Barbra-related-gifts; merchandise, record players, outfits, etc, until her entire bedroom was filled with instant recollection of the importance to achieve her goals. This amount of passion, admittedly, has set Rachel apart from the ordinary citizen; her brutal honesty simultaneously paired with her ruthless ambition and desire to be the greatest has meant that there is a certain strain on the relationships she makes with her fellow classmates. While she is ultimately convinced the large majority of her peers are simply uneducated and happy to simply settle as a mere nothing in Lima Ohio, there is something a little disheartening by the isolation she feels at McKinley High School. Despite fiercely joining every single Club in order to maintain a perfect Extra Curricular Reputation, with the inward hope of perhaps becoming acquainted to like-minded individuals with the same zest for life and eagerness to become somebody, the reluctance many of her fellow Club Members have to even talk to her is a little disheartening, at the very least. If anything, however, this isolation has meant that Rachel’s passion has only multiplied; leading her to the firm belief there was nothing left for her in Lima, Ohio and New York was the ultimate goal.
The recent year has been…tumultuous, to say the in very least. Sandy Ryerson’s unfortunate dismissal as the Leader of Glee Club meant that the incompetent Spanish Teacher William Schuester took over the Club; transforming it from a loser-driven Club with a mere two members to a club going in New Directions - excuse the pun. After managing to uphold Rachel’s demands to find an acceptable male lead - it was really nothing personal to Arthur Abrams, of course, his talent was merely lacking a certain passion that Rachel longed for - Rachel found herself thrown into the chaotic love-triangle between herself, Finn Hudson and the Head Cheerleader, Quinn Fabray. While it originally seemed to be a hopeless case of unrequited love for Rachel, something she primarily longed for in order to empower her songwriting technique and ultimately add to her passion while performing, it appeared as though the Much-Loved couple of Finn and Quinn was a little less stable than originally assumed - thankfully. Rachel is a firm believer in fate, however; so despite their crushing loss at Regionals, it was merely a stepping stone for the club in order to progress and move forward.
The New School Years brings about endless opportunities for the Club; with Rachel at the forefront of them all, naturally. She has been sending endless emails to Mr. Schuester with lists filled with potential solos - and duets, of course - for herself, and Finn, to perform this upcoming year. A Nationals Title is guaranteed with their additional romance being used to their advantage - who doesn’t love a little passion and romance within a competition? With the Quarterback on her arm and a smug look of satisfaction being sent to both Santana Lopez and Quinn Fabray - because, yes, Rachel is feeling smug in the aftermath of nabbing Finn as her Leading Man - there is a certain confidence in Rachel’s step this summer. Recruitment for the upcoming Year is vital - Rachel’s heard rumors, of course, that new and wonderful faces are joining the schools ranks, and she is determined to ensure they join the club. A little competition for Top Soloist - while unnecessary, since it’s obvious Rachel’s talent triumphs - is healthy, and Rachel would prefer to hand away a few minor solos to please the newbies than not be able to compete at all. It’s all down to priorities!

Marie’s Lists
So I needed to leave the Rachel podcast early, and therefore I didn’t get to give you guys my lists! Therefore, I’m going to post them here for anyone interested. Under the cut.
What are your 15 (Ranked or Unranked) Worse Songs ?
All of mine are unranked BTW
Smile (the Lily Allen one): I felt like Lea was putting on a weird accent during this one. Maybe it was just the production? Regardless, this was a weird one to me.
Next to Me: We’ve covered it before, but this song was absolutely wrong for Lea’s voice. And Idina’s. It hurts me to say, but true. Should’ve been a Naya/Amber duet.
A Change Would Do You Good: Ok, first of all, I’m just not a fan of the song. Second, even though I’m not nearly anti-Brody’s voice as Emily, it is pretty clear on this one that he’s not nearly as good as Lea. Not her fault, but still don’t like it.
All That Jazz: Glee can’t do Chicago justice. Watch the movie, people, and you will feel my pain.
A Thousand Miles: Samchel must die.
Time After Time: STOP RUINING SONGS I LIKE SAMCHEL!
The Way You Look Tonight/You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile: The Way You Look Tonight is a genuinely fantastic standard Frank Sinatra song I adore. If I ever get married, you can bet it’ll be at my wedding. This mash-up RUINED the song for me. I’m not a huge Annie fan, but it ruined this song too. If they had just picked one, I would’ve been good with it.
Firework: Lea Michele is too good to sing Katy Perry.
Big Girls Don’t Cry: I have never liked this song. I think she sounded better on it than Kurt or Blaine, but this song must die. It’s so annoying.
My Man: Sorry Emily and David. I snooze through it.
Who Are You Now: Why the everloving fuck is Sue singing on this?
Break Free: You guys know, Arianna Grande annoys the crap out of me. And I don’t think this is Lea’s style.
I’ll Never Fall in Love Again: Yup, the other Samchel song, is also awful.
Barracuda: We all agree on this one. I actually like the original, but whereas they can sometimes give Lea rock songs and I end up loving them (see Creep), this one did not work for me at all. Maybe if they were more creative with the arangement, I could’ve dug it, but this was a miss for me.
I’m the Greatest Star: I just hate this song.
Which is the worst of them? If we’re talking Lea on it, for me it’s Next to Me. If we’re talking in general, A Thousand Miles. If I could get a Lea only version of it though, that would’ve been ok. I think a lot of my hate is also thinking of the plot around it which makes me want to gag and vomit and die.
What are your 15 (Ranked or Unranked) Best Songs ?
Don’t Rain On My Parade:  This was Rachel’s hail-Mary moment and if Make You Feel My Love didn’t exist, this would be my favorite Rachel solo. She comes out there with great power in her voice, and makes this song her bitch. I love it.
O Holy Night: Ok, as much as I hate her winning Winter Showcase with no competition, I have to admit, this is gorgeous. And I hate Christmas music, and the religious songs especially normally do nothing for me. In terms of showing off her vocal power, this song is one of the best for showing it. Claps for this one.
Make You Feel My Love: I sob and cry every time I hear it. It’s another one where she just sounds lovely.
I Feel Pretty/Unpretty: I basically get a vocal orgasm when I hear them sing on this together. It’s beautiful. I still listen to this one a lot.
This Time: The only song in Dreams Come True I liked! It’s a little cheesey, but as far as original songs go, it’s one of the few that’s pretty good. And I just think Lea sounded good on it, and as a song, it was a good one to wrap up Rachel.
Rolling in the Deep: the arrangement and her singing with Jon Groff does things to me.
Mama Mia: Is this an odd choice? Maybe. But if I don’t dance and sing to it loudly (let’s be real I shout to it) I’ll be damned.
Poker Face: Because I’m a sucker for different arrangements and Idina Menzel.
Listen to Your Heart: Ok, my embarrassing backstory for this song. When I was a young high schooler, I lacked gaydar. I had a crush on a guy who was so gay. He did come out to me as bisexual, and he had a boyfriend, but I had deluded myself into thinking he’d dump his BF and fall in love with me. I’d cry to this song about how i should tell him my feelings (I did eventually and it was awkward as hell). So I like the song in general for that reason. As far as in the show, it reminds me of the giddiness I felt when she got a relationship that didn’t suck.
Hello 12, Hello 13, Hello Love: Gah, more Jon/Leagasming.
The Rose: I actually found this song beautiful. It will show up later in a bad way, but here, it’s in a good way. I think the reason it shows up later in a bad way is because it made me sad because I felt like it would’ve been a good song about her relationship with Finn and it was a shitty audition number.
Defying Gravity: Wicked is magical.
To Love You More: So I know Emily isn’t a fan. I think it sounds pretty.
Brave: This is mostly because I needed a Pezberry number. Gosh, they sound sexy together.
Faithfully: Now it’s sad.
Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart: I just love the original and it’s cute.
Yesterday: It’s a different arrangement I love. And it makes me sad too. And Yesterday is one of my favorite Beatles’s songs of all time.
What are your 5 (Ranked or Unranked) Worse Performances ?
My Man (Plus every time she’s boring on a stage): This is more of a type of song that she did. . .a lot. She would sing emotionally on a stage, maybe making some faces, but otherwise just walking around and being boring. I obviously don’t expect crazy dancing during this, but just something not boring.
A Thousand Miles: It looked tacky and green screened. It also was my worst nightmare in that it lead to one of the most utterly disgusting moments Glee has ever given me of Sam and Rachel kissing. Ugh.
The Rose: This is actually a fantastic song, and I recommend you guys looking up the lyrics if you haven’t. This could’ve been an incredibly meaningful song for Rachel. INSTEAD, it was her auditioning for the stupid TV show (ugh) in a goofy way. Ugh.
I’m the Greatest Star: It felt underwhelming after all the build-up to Rachel on Broadway. Also, again, I’m spoiled by Tatiana Maslany. It felt like Lea being over-the-top instead of Rachel playing a character.
It’s All Coming Back to Me: 100% context on this one. Rachel shouldn’t have gotten into NYADA because of this.
What are your 5 (Ranked or Unranked) Best Performances ?
Make you feel my love: Self-explanitory
DROMP: Lea Michele commanded that stage.
Hello 12: The Jon/Lea chemistry was amazing.
Don’t You Want Me Baby: She’s wearing an absurd outfit and drunk and flirting with Blaine. It’s great.
Run Joey Run: This was just hilarious.
Worst 5 Episodes of the series ?
Props: I don’t think I need to go into this one.
Untitled Rachel Berry Project: At this point, we’re meant to be happy she goes to this awful TV show. Nope.
Frenemies: You guys know how I feel about her towards Santana here
Back-Up Plan: My dreams came true! Now I don’t care about it, one month later! Let me abandon everything, right now.
Trio: Just more of the awfulness with her and Santana. And I felt bad for Kurt and Elliot for getting dragged into it all.
Best 5 Episodes of the series ?
Quarterback: Not going to lie, this is all Lea for me. I cry.
Loser Like Me: This was basically Rachel’s redemption for me.
The Break-Up: Her break-up scene with Finn still stands out to me as one of Lea’s better dramatic acting scenes.
Pilot: This was a great set-up, for what should’ve been dealt with more in the show, about her insecurities.
Theatricality: She handles the Shelby stuff very maturely, and I do feel bad for her in this one.

miasswier’s ultimate glee ranking: 44
44: Special Education
Tumblr media
Written by: Brad Falchuk Directed by: Paris Barclay
Overall Thoughts: I actually really enjoy this episode! It doesn’t quite measure up to Furt, but as far as competition episodes go I think it’s pretty strong. Will is actually a decent teacher for once (even though Emma has to push him to be so), and basically everybody gets their moment in the limelight, even if it’s for just a brief period of time. I love episodes like this that really remind you that Glee is an ensemble show.
What I Like:
Everybody has a little role to play in this episode, and the ones who don’t really get storylines (Quinn, Sam, Mercedes) still get to sing and be the center of attention for a little bit. Give me all that ensemble shit.
Kurt looks so goddamn cute in his Warbler outfit.
They actually manage to balance McKinley and Dalton fairly well. It doesn’t feel like McKinley is being left in the dust, but neither does it feel like Kurt is completely forgotten. Plus, it’s kind of nice to see Kurt in a scenario where the only person he’s being overshadowed by is his best friend, whom he interacts with regularly. I know some people were frustrated that they sent him to Dalton, but I really loved it. It really gave him the opportunity to shine.
Blaine laughing to himself when Kurt’s joke about working at a cat rescue at the bottom of a coal mine totally flops.
Will calling Rachel out for her bad attitude and bad sportsmanship. It’s funny how she was so intent on getting Sam to stay in ND because “we need him if we want to win Nationals!” but as soon as he compromises her star power he’s on her shit list. Oh, Rachel.
Although I wish this hadn’t happened in front of the whole goddamn choir room, and I wish the context had been different, I do still think Santana was in the right by telling Rachel about her and Finn. Finn shouldn’t have lied about that (telling someone you’re a virgin when you’re not is shitty as fuck), and honestly, if Santana hadn’t spilled the beans I feel like Finn never would have.
Carl and Emma getting married. Even if it only last six episodes, I still think they were cute and good together.
“Wait, you didn’t know about that?” OH KURT
That whole scene in the green room is just absolutely amazing. I agree with Lauren – best greenroom ever.
“And you let me comb my hair with it?”
“I’m not nervous. And you know why? Because show choir is stupid.”
BASICALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT LAUREN ZIZES I LITERALLY ADORE HER.
Puck crying during the hipster’s performance.
Puck standing up for Kurt to Karofsky.
“Where’s Puck? I haven’t seen him since yesterday and I need him to get me a churro.”
What I Don’t Like:
I wish Rachel had broken up with Finn for lying to her about Santana. I don’t like that they took the “I’m not mad you had sex, I’m mad you had sex with her” approach, because it makes it look like Santana is this demon sex lady who spoiled Finn for Rachel with her magical vagina which is all kinds of racist. I’m sorry, but if my SO told me they were a virgin and then it turned out they’d lied, I would be super pissed, and honestly wouldn’t even care about who they had sex with. I just don’t like how this whole thing played out.
Rachel cheating on Finn with Puck. It was vindictive and awful, but also it just goes to show yet again that Glee doesn’t fucking know how to break their couples up without having somebody cheat. Also, it felt like a really cheap way of making Finn the victim so that the rest of the season could focus on Rachel pining after him and trying to get with him yet again, and so that he wouldn’t look like as much of a douche when he got back with Quinn. Also, it was SUPER out of character.
The whole magic comb storyline. One of my issues with the way that Brittany is portrayed by fandom (and why I have such a hard time reading fics where she’s involved as a major character) is how she’s always infantilized because, for a lot of the show, she wasn’t. But here, she is. Actually, for most of her relationship with Artie she is. I don’t know if it was some kind of way to flip the power dynamic (Brittany is popular and a cheerleader, but she’s the one who needs Artie because she’s like a five-year-old) or what, but I really don’t like it. She’s not very smart, but she isn’t a child, and I hate when they portray her like she is (especially since she’s meant to be such a sexually empowered character).
As I mentioned before, I don’t like the context of Santana telling Rachel about her and Finn. I do think she was in the right, but I really wish it had been in the context of “yo, your boyfriend is lying to you, you deserve better” and not “I’m a bitch and hate you for no reason and want to cause drama”. Hashtag Glee Hates Girls.
Blaine is a real dink to Kurt after he auditions for his solo. Go away Blaine, those are not encouraging words.
Kurt going to Rachel instead of Mercedes for song advice. It felt so contrived, and honestly, I wish that their friendship had continued from Duets and not from this, because in Duets it felt natural, but here it’s just like “oh, this is just an excuse for Rachel to sing a song.”
Rachel telling Kurt “this has to be personal, this is about you” and then instantly making it all about her. Shut the fuck up, Rachel, go throw your pity party somewhere else.
Songs:
Don’t Cry for Me Argentina: I like this song, but as I literally just said, I don’t like that Rachel was like “this is about you” and then made it all about herself and the pain she was feeling. That being said, the moment when Kurt raises his hands and Blaine gestures that he shouldn’t is one of my favourite Klaine moments of all time.
The Living Years: I think this performance is kinda funny, and Puck crying is hilarious.
Hey, Soul Sister: Blaine may be a dink in this episode, but boy can sing. This is one of my fave Blaine solos, actually. I love this song as is, and he sounds amazing on it. I’m literally weak for Darren Criss’s voice.
(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life: A really fun, energetic number. Quinn and Sam sound better on this one than they do on “Lucky”. Plus, it’s nice seeing someone other than Finn and Rachel leading the charge.
Valerie: This song is GAY. Mainly because it makes me feel gay things. The dance is awesome, too. I have no idea how Brittany managed some of those flips in heels. Amazing.
Dog Days Are Over: I love this song, and I’m so happy they gave it to Mercedes and Tina instead of Rachel because Rachel would not have sounded good here, and Mercedes and Tina kill it. I love this performance. The end, when they’re all hugging, brings tears to my eyes. Ah, the nostalgia. Good ol’ Glee.
Final Thoughts: While there are definitely things that frustrate me about this episode, I still think it’s really strong. The music is good, the plots flow, and everyone gets a chance to shine. To top it all off, it has some pretty funny moments. Considering how weak the rest of season two has been thus far, I think it definitely stands out. There’s also a nostalgia element for me. I still remember watching this for the first time and geeking the fuck out at Blaine patting Kurt on the knee. Ah, young love.

RACHEL BERRY → 16 → PANSEXUAL → DECEMBER 18TH → WILLIAM MCKINLEY
