Ok yeah the romance and drama of Bridgerton is why we watch it etc etc... but did no one else notice the amount of times someone took a sip of a drink or a scoop of iced sorbet and then placed it BACK on the SERVING TRAY when they got flustered?????
FOUR TIMES. THESE ANIMALS DID IT FOUR TIMES IN FOUR EPISODES.
#Penelope when she ran into Lord Debling the first time#her mother did it with wine#It was mostly a Featherington trait tbh#When Colin needed to put his glass down quickly he gave it to a footman LIKE YOU SHOULD#YOU DO NOT PLACE IT BACK ON THE SERVING TRAY WHERE SOMEONE ELSE WILL GRAB IT UNKNOWINGLY#bridgerton#netflix#penelope featherington#colin bridgerton#bridgerton s3 spoilers#the bridgertons

what got you into dinnerware? for me, it was Ouran High School Host Club. yes. i got into dinnerware through an anime. but it got me into this world of craftsmanship, history, and design, so i'm not even embarrassed to admit it anymore.
nothin wrong with finding new interests through anime lol! I think that's wonderful
I got into it through my grandma's collection! I sorted through and organized it some years ago and the emotional high of hunting down production dates and pattern names has never left me.
Sadly that collection has long since been pared down and given to consignment stores or whatever else, but I still have a couple full sets of hers and I'm very slowly adding to it whenever I visit resale shops hehe :3
This coffee cup is part of one of those remaining sets, from the brand Mikasa in the pattern Just Flowers.
A fun fact for u: Mikasa is a relatively modern name in the porcelain trade, being established in 1948. The oldest company in my collection is Spode! Established in 1770, they were a hugely influential part of early European porcelain production and the transition from soft-paste to hard-paste formulas. Also, they're still in business today! 2020 was their 250th anniversary.
#i'm still just a little bit salty at how much of that collection my parents gave away sdkjfsg#just a little bit#I believe it was around 9 sets of porcelain (of varying number and quality) along with 4 crystal punchbowls and cups and ladels#some silver tea and coffee pots and serving trays#a couple full sets of silverware countless sets of crystal wine glasses and pitchers and some loose unidentifiable cups and saucers#and according to my dad even THAT was pared down from what she had when he was a kid lmao#still happy I got to see it when I did though!#asks

Topping off #InternationalChameleonDay with this collection of pâte de verre glass chameleons by Amalric Walter (French, 1870-1959) & Henri Bergé (French, 1870-1937), all c.1920:
1. paperweight H8.5cm
2. tray (vide-poche) H8.5 x L15 x P11.2 cm
3. tray (vide-poche) L25.5cm
4. pendant 60x60mm
"This French pate-de-verre (glass paste) pendant is a rare survivor of 'artistic' jewellery of the 1920s. It was made by Amalric Walter to designs of his friend Henri Berge at their glass studio in Nancy, Lorraine, which produced decorative glass objects for discerning clients between 1919 and 1935. Walter and Berge excelled at using the complex technique of pate-de-verre casting, which they perfected while working at the Daum glassworks before the first World War. They pressed layers of coloured glass granules into wax moulds before firing them the kiln. The technique offered endless colour combinations and Walter experimented with the chemicals used to colour the glass, even using uranium to achieve the bright yellow seen in this pendant. Their products varied in price and complexity and while they were often replicated in series, each piece was hand finished and unique with subtle design and surface variations. A distinctive characteristic was the use of naturalistic motifs which were becoming simpler as the modern Art Deco style began replacing Art Nouveau in the 1920s. Issued alongside chameleon paperweights and bowls, this pendant is an example of this stylistic transition. When sold new, it was probably suspended on long silk cords to complement fashionable Jazz-era dresses. Some of these pendants however, might have never been worn as they were also admired as art pieces and displayed in the home."

i got these matroyshka dolls for a chrismas eve-eve gift (we're celebrating on christmas eve so tonight is our christmas eve you feel) and i'll probably get better high quality pics of each of them to brag about tomorrow but for tonight i just need you all to see how fucking TINY the littlest ones are. it goes from like a foot and a half to like a centimeter
here is the largest wearing the smallest as a hat.
im going to cry why are you SO SMALL
#the problem is i cant display them until i get a place that is properly secured#VERY worried about losing the last like...5 of them they are so small and loseable#and we have cats#you can SEE one of them in the pic like 'oooh new toys for me'#mom suggested getting a tray with a lip and my sibling suggested like display putty. probably will do both things#ideally id like to put them behind glass but theres so MANY of them i dont have anywhere big enough to show off all of them
