heyyy how are you doing??
i was thinking of a sevika fic, friends to lovers, in which they are really close and sevika is afraid to fuck things up because reader is like her only friend 😭
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐘𝐎𝐔
────୨ৎ────
𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝘅 𝗳𝗲𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 (𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝘂?)

Your apartment had the pure vanilla and cashmere scent all around. The couch was bundled up with blankets, pillows, plushies, and everything else that could possible keep you comfortable. You were in the kitchen, staring at the candle’s flickering flame as you waited for the milk to heat up on the stove.
Sevika was arriving soon to hang out, and you’re nearly sure she’d sleepover considering she asked so late. You were always up to have fun. Right as you were about to remove the pot from the stove, the doorbell rung, and you forgot to shut off the heat, rushing to the front door.
Swinging it open, you saw Sevika there with a scarf and coat on, and beyond her there were inches of snow pouring down. Her eyes glazed over your body, the silk pajamas you had on, the cute bunny slippers. She wanted to melt right then and there.
“Hey— God, you should come inside, ‘Vika, it’s freezing out here!” You exclaimed, moving over to make space for her to enter. Shutting the door behind her, she began to remove her scarf and coat, a black wife-pleaser and sweatpants beneath it.
Your slippers dragged on the wooden floor, going towards the living room when it dawned on you that the milk was still on the stove! “Awh—!” You shouted, running towards the kitchen and taking Sevika by surprise. The milk was frothing and boiling over once you entered, hands working to take it off the stove with little damage.
A pout graced your lips, Sevika following behind you and placing a hand on your shoulder. “Did I get here at a wrong time?” Her voice was always deep yet held an edge of tenderness when speaking to you. You shook your head and looked up at her. “No way— I’m just stupid, forgot to turn off the stove,” The petulant look was still painted upon your features, letting a chuckle escape past her lips.
“That was for us, y’know! Some hot chocolate…” You complain, bottom lip slightly poking out. “Don’t frown, don’t you have some cheap wine we could crack open?” Your eyes light up, bouncing in rejoice at her words. You rushed to the cabinets, one leg off the floor as you tippy-toed to grab the wine bottle all the way at the top.
“You’re a genius, ‘Vika!” You said with a high-pitched tone, the red-wine bottle in your grasp now. She came beside you and shut the cabinet before you had a chance to hit your head. “You would’ve thought of it sooner if you weren’t so caught up on the milk,” She explained gently, still eyeing you.
You got the wine opener, handing it to Sevika so she could do it herself while your finished bringing the snacks to the living room. You brought bowls and plates over to the coffee table, an assortment of foods and candies.
When you returned, she was grabbing glasses to pour the wine into. Instead of interrupting her, you jumped onto the counter, sat on the edge of it with one lower leg crossed over the other. A small smirk was placed on her uneven, full lips as she handed you the glass.
Sevika watched as your own lips circled the rim of the glass, eyes closing once you took a sip. “Not the biggest fan, but it’ll make do.” Your voice snaps her out of the staring trance, her gaze moving back to your eyes, her fingers crossed in hopes you didn’t notice the way she looked at your features.
"What do you have picked out for tonight?" She asked knowingly, watching as your face lights up once again, a shift she could watch happen a million times and never find boredom. You stepped off the counter, running towards the living room and hoping she'd follow after.
Truthfully, it was more like a 'knowing' she'd follow after.
She placed both wine glasses on the coffee table, eyes raking over the variety of foods that Sevika loved. She had never taken advantage of the fact you knew everything about her, every little detail. She bathed in that fact everyday, soaking up the moments. The TV was on and ready for games, she watched the nearing prideful expression on your face.
Her larger palm came to ruffle the top of your hair, watching your heartily expression. "We can play mario kart or something!" You exclaim, dragging her by the hand to where you two will sit. "And then– we can watch the notebook!"
Sevika cocks a brow, yet somehow oblivious. "We watch the notebook every time," She reminds, watching as your legs drape over her thigh, landing between both of her legs. Sevika had made up her mind that you two were just friends, but her heart sped up. You pout slightly, "So?"
She chuckles, leaning back on the couch and finding the game with the controller in her hand. "Nothin', the notebook it is." You grin, grabbing your own controller and picking a character. "I can be princess peach and you choose mario," Sevika hums softly, picking mario. "He looks nothing like me." She grumbled playfully.
"Not supposed to look like you, silly." Sevika's gaze lifts and places itself onto you, the little smile on your lips, the way your tongue slightly sticked out as the game began. Sevika's hands moved on the controller, trying to focus, yet she still stared at you. Your little bounces once you got closer, gasps when someone passes you, she tried to mentally picture them to never forget. “Ahh! I almost won, got second place!” You declare, falling back against her shoulder.
She snaps out of the trance, looking at the screen and her incredibly behind spot. “Shit,” She whispered, looking at how your arm wrapped around her bicep in ‘defeat’. “It’s okay, you did good,” Sevika speaks, practically playing with one hand as she once again pats your head. “You suck, ‘Vika.” You murmur, head now in her lap as she finishes terribly.
She scoffs, fisting your hair childishly and lifting it off her lap. “Maybe you pick the games you’re good at purposefully.” She points out, vision narrowed at you. Your tongue sticks on, taunting her. “Child.” She replies to the gesture, flicking your forehead and receiving a whine.
You scurry off the couch to turn off the light, Sevika being unphased till she feels you throw yourself onto her. She huffs, wrapping her hands around you to stabilize you. “Are you trying to hurt yourself?” She scolds like a worried parent. You giggle against the top of her head, situating besides her. “The notebook!” She rolls her eyes yet not truly meaning it, “It’s stupid.”
The move begins and it was a long, hard 2 hours before the ending scenes come on and you hear sniffles from Sevika. A grin grows on your face again, grabbing your phone and flashing the light in her face. “Is big bad Sevika crying to the notebook’s ending??” Sevika grunts, jerking your hand away lightly. “Shuddup,” She grumbles, picking up a pillow and throwing it at you.
The phone tumbles out of your hand and you gasp in mock offense, hands coming to wipe her tears. “Poor, poor Sevika.” You jeer, cradling her face and cooing. Her palm goes over your face, basically covering the whole of it and pushing you away. You sit back, crossing your arms, “I totally think Allie is way too pretty for Noah.” You assert, shrugging it off. Sevika nods in response, not too passionate about it.
“‘Vika?” You whisper softly, hands on your lap nervously fidgeting. “Yeah?” She answers, rubbing her eyes in exhaustion. “How long are we going to be playing eye tag before you say something..?” Her words tumble over each other, eyes widening at the realization of what you were implying.
“What?”
You huffed, looking at her surprised, flushed expression. “I’m getting tired of giving you so many signs and you just—“ You huff, throwing your arms in the air. “Ignoring them..!” She shakes her head, turning to you and nearly getting whiplash. “I mean— if you’re not interested, say it, but don’t—“ She cuts you off, shaking her head desperately. “God, no.”
Her hands couldn’t find their way to you this time. She never minded touching you, embracing you, but under this context? God, she could pass out. “I am interested, I—“ She was reluctant, not sure how to express this. She had been imagining this moment for years, never thinking it’d really happen. Yet, here she was, stumbling over her words, eyes wide like a deer in headlights.
Your lip crashed onto her, not wanting to witness the embarrassment from not knowing how to word things. She didn’t kiss back at first and you nearly pulled away, but her hands wrapped around your waist. Half of your body was on hers yet not fully. Your lips parted, allowing her access to deepen the kiss.
You bit her lip softly, getting pulled in closer. Her body shifted, gently placing you beneath her and parting kisses for little breaths and small giggles. Your hands tugged at her hair, playfulness and warmth emitting from the moment. The kiss broke fully, a string of saliva connecting you two. “God, ‘Vika.”
Both of you were smiling, lips against one another, breath heavy. Her hand tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear, "M'so sorry." She murmured, kissing down your neck. You shook your head, running your hands through her hair softly, sighing.
"Didn't wanna mess this up.." She mumbled against your jawline, moving to nibble at your pulse point. You nodded gently, "It's 'kay, 'Vika." She brought you closer, her kisses at your tummy, circling your navel and down to your pelvis. Her gaze is focused on you.
"Perfect, all of this," She emphasized each word with a kiss at your hips.

ʚིᵋ ⋆ MY ALCOHOL DIARY ࣪ ! ˓ ౨ৎ ࣪˖ ─── now playing…
[ENG SUB] Luna’s Drunken Truths?🌙 A New Side You’ve Never Seen Before ✨🍻 [Nothing Much Prepared]
synopsis: Luna is here! Luna joins Youngji for some laughs, deep talks, and a few fun surprises on this episode of My Alcohol Diary.
╰ ౨ৎ LUNA-VERSE MASTERLIST ╰ ౨ৎ more interviews
bold dialogues are spoken in english ღ
Lee Youngji, in her typical lively fashion, was seen darting around her cozy apartment, her slippers barely keeping up with her hurried steps. The camera followed her movements closely as she rushed from one corner of the room to the other, adjusting chairs, straightening the table, and arranging food and drinks with a touch of anxious energy.
Plates of snacks, ranging from fried chicken to Korean side dishes, lined the table, all meticulously laid out. Bottles of soju, beer, and soda stood ready in perfect rows— except today, there was something a little extra on display.
Youngji glanced back at the neatly arranged bottles of red and white wine with a look that was half-pride, half-nervousness. “Ya, seriously, look at me. Expensive wine! Since when do I buy expensive wine?” She muttered to herself with a dramatic flair as her small crew, seated off at the front, watched her, biting back smiles.
“She looks like someone who drinks the good stuff, okay? She’s got that vibe. Like… luxury.” Her hand fluttered nervously over the bottles again, repositioning them for the third time.
One of the writers snickered, causing Youngji to spin around, her face an exaggerated mix of panic and excitement. “I’m not kidding! You all don’t understand. She’s… she’s intimidating! She hasn’t even arrived yet, and I’m already shaking. Hoshi warned me! He was here a few months ago, and I messaged him and asked him about her. You know what he said?” She paused dramatically, eyes wide, as though she were telling a ghost story.
The crew leaned in, intrigued by the suspense she was building.
“He told me,” she whispered, eyes darting to the camera as if someone might overhear her secret, “that she doesn’t drink beer because she doesn’t like the taste.”
This revelation was met with a burst of laughter from her crew. Youngji threw her hands up, pacing in front of the table. “Can you imagine?! I only had beer! What am I going to do? Should I just… drink by myself?” She exaggeratedly reached for one of the wine bottles and opened it, pouring herself a glass of white. She sipped, her brows furrowing slightly as she tasted the drink. "That's why I got this."
“I bought the expensive kind,” she said, swirling the glass. “You know why? Because she gives off that expensive vibe. Like… a black credit card kind of energy.” She raised her eyebrows as if to say, You know what I mean, before taking another sip.
“Ah, this is why I dressed up today! Look at me.” She gestured to her outfit— an unusually stylish ensemble compared to her usual casual attire. “I had to. I want her to like me! I mean, I usually just wear whatever I find first in my closet, but today? No way. I had to step it up.”
The staff erupted in laughter again, knowing full well that Youngji was half-joking but also genuinely nervous. She glanced at the camera again, then sighed dramatically, collapsing onto the couch, wine glass in hand. “I’m doomed. What if she doesn’t laugh at my jokes? What if she just stares at me with those intimidating eyes, and I crumble?” She covered her face with her hands for a moment, peeking out from between her fingers before groaning and sitting up.
“I swear, if she doesn’t like me, I’ll blame you guys,” she said, pointing accusingly at the staff. “You’re supposed to make me look good, and here I am looking like a nervous wreck.” She waved her arms dramatically, showcasing the haphazardly arranged table and the slightly cluttered apartment.
Her crew laughed again, and Youngji couldn’t help but laugh along with them. “Okay, okay, enough with the nerves. I’ve got this. Right?” She gave the camera a confident look, only to immediately second-guess herself. “No? You don’t think I’ve got this? Well, we’ll see.”
“No, I can do this,” she said, trying to hype herself up. “I just need to relax, right? Right. I mean, I’m Lee Youngji, damn it. I can make anyone laugh.”
The camera cut to a shot of her crew trying not to laugh too loudly as Youngji stared dramatically at her glass, muttering to herself once more, “Yeah… even Luna…”
With one last glance at the table, Youngji nodded to herself and turned back to the camera, her smile wide and her energy high.
“Alright, guys. Stay tuned. Because today… a princess is coming.”
Youngji, still buzzing with nervous energy, paced back and forth across the small living room as she adjusted the two large boxes of pizza on the table. She glanced at the red and white wine bottles once more, nodding to herself. "Okay, so we've got options," she muttered under her breath, pushing her hair back as she opened a drawer beneath the table.
With a swift motion, she pulled out a bottle of soju and— after a bit of rummaging— a bottle of gin.
"Just in case," she told herself as she placed them both down. She then turned to her crew, who had been quietly laughing at her antics from the sidelines. “I mean, what if she’s like, ‘Oh, I don't want to drink wine today,’ and then I look like a bad host? Can’t have that. So, variety!" She tapped the gin bottle with a grin. "This one’s a wildcard. I’ve never even had gin before.”
One of the writers laughed. “Are you gonna try it before she gets here?”
Youngji widened her eyes. "I mean… yeah, why not? Let’s see what we’re working with." She grabbed the gin bottle, twisting the cap open. The strong, herbal smell hit her instantly, making her reel back with an exaggerated grimace. “Woah! Okay! Wow, it smells like… it smells like it's gonna end me. This stuff smells dangerous.”
Her crew chuckled, egging her on as she poured a shot. With a deep breath, she threw back the shot, and her entire face contorted in an instant. She physically recoiled, her shoulders pulling in tight as she squeezed her eyes shut, barely suppressing a full-body shiver.
"Yeah, nope. That’s definitely strong," she gasped, blinking rapidly as she set the shot glass down on the table with more force than intended. “She’s definitely not going to like this. I mean, if she doesn’t like the taste of beer, this is gonna be a hard no.”
Just as she continued joking with the director about their drink options, the doorbell suddenly rang, cutting through the chatter.
Everyone froze.
There was a collective intake of breath from the crew as they turned toward the door, eyes wide.
Youngji’s eyes darted around the room before landing on the intercom on the wall. "Oh my god, she’s here! Guys, she's here!" she whispered, her hands flailing. In her excitement, she tripped over her own feet, catching herself on the back of the chair with a laugh. "Why am I like this?!"
Still panicking, she scrambled to the intercom, pressing the button to reveal a small screen showing a grainy video of Luna standing outside, waiting patiently at the door.
The camera zoomed in on Luna’s soft, bright features framed by her stylishly casual pink top, which showed off a glimpse of her effortless, chic vibe.
“Who is it?” Youngji asked, her voice playful, but she couldn’t hide the excitement.
“It’s Luna,” came the soft, melodic response from the other side, followed by a smile from the girl on screen. Luna’s face lit up with warmth as her voice echoed through the small apartment.
“Oh my god!” Youngji squealed before she dramatically slid down the wall in slow motion, as though the weight of meeting Luna in person had become too much to bear. Her crew burst into laughter, the room filling with their amusement as Youngji sat crumpled on the floor. “Why is she so pretty?! It’s not fair!” she wailed, covering her face with both hands.
Suddenly, as if struck by a lightning bolt of energy, Youngji shot to her feet and sprinted toward another room. “I need to put on perfume!” she yelled, disappearing into the hallway, her crew doubling over with laughter.
After a moment, Youngji reappeared, the perfume forgotten, trying to catch her breath. She took a deep breath, trying to center herself, and began to hum the chorus of “HOT” by SEVENTEEN as if to hype herself up. “Alright, let’s go!” she muttered, pacing back and forth again. “I’m fine… I can do this…”
She grabbed the gin bottle one more time, pouring another shot, and before she could second-guess herself, she downed it with a wince. “Nope. Still gross,” she whispered to no one in particular, her face scrunched up as she cringed once more. Shaking off the burn, she rushed toward the door.
“Who is it?” she asked again, a grin pulling at the corners of her mouth.
There was a soft laugh from the other side. “It’s Luna. It’s me.”
Youngji, dramatic as ever, slid down the door this time, her body slowly crumpling to the floor in a display of exaggerated defeat as her crew lost it, their laughter echoing throughout the room.
After a moment, she finally gathered herself, stood up with a playful determination, and opened the door. "Hello!"
There, in the doorway, stood Luna, her radiant smile soft and welcoming. She was dressed in a pastel pink top, casually draped over a cropped white tube top, paired with light-washed jeans that hugged her figure effortlessly. Her hair fell in gentle waves, her expression relaxed yet excited as if she’d just stepped out of a fashion shoot without trying too hard.
Youngji blinked, her jaw dropping slightly as she took in the sight before her. “Oh, wow,” she whispered, not quite realizing she’d said it out loud.
As Youngji opened the door, her eyes quickly darted to the box Luna was holding, wrapped in simple, elegant paper with a delicate ribbon tied around it. Without a second thought, she reached out and gently fussed over the box.
“Oh, no, no, no— give that to me. You shouldn't be holding that!” Youngji exclaimed, reaching for the box, her tone full of concern. She took it from Luna’s hands, cradling it carefully, as if it were something fragile.
Luna chuckled softly, bowing slightly to the crew and waving at the camera with a warm, easy smile. "Hello, everyone!" she greeted, her voice lilting and sweet as she gave the camera a quick wave. She looked genuinely pleased to be there, her smile growing wider as the crew responded with a collective greeting.
While Luna faced the camera, Youngji couldn't help but admire her from the back. The way Luna carried herself was effortless yet graceful— her top hanging perfectly over her shoulders, the soft, pink fabric catching the light. Youngji's eyes traced the loose waves of Luna’s hair and how they cascaded down her back.
She sighed under her breath. "How is she this pretty, though?"
After Luna finished greeting the crew, she turned her attention back to Youngji, her smile never faltering. “Youngji, it’s so good to finally see you in person,” she exclaimed.
Youngji, caught off guard by her own admiring thoughts, blinked and smiled back. “I know, right? It feels like we’ve been trying to schedule this for forever! Come in, sit, sit!” she urged, motioning to the table. She gently placed the box she had taken from Luna on the table as Luna took a seat across from her.
Youngji’s curiosity piqued, she glanced at the box again and asked, "So, what's in here? Is it for me?" Her eyes sparkled with genuine excitement.
Luna nodded, her lips curling into a small smile. “Yes, it’s a gift. I wanted to bring something special since I’ve known I’d be coming on your show for a while now.”
With wide eyes, Youngji carefully opened the box, peeling back the ribbon and lifting the lid with anticipation. Inside, nestled carefully in soft tissue paper, was a stunningly beautiful set of plates, cups, spoons, and forks— each piece looked intricately designed, with delicate patterns running along the edges. The set had an unmistakable elegance, the kind that screamed of fine craftsmanship. The plates and cups shimmered subtly under the lights, the porcelain pristine and polished, accented by gold and silver trimming.
Youngji gasped loudly, her mouth falling open as she froze for a moment, simply staring. “No way!” she finally breathed out. “This is— this is beautiful!” She turned the box towards her crew, showing them the set, and instantly, the room erupted into murmurs of amazement.
One of the staff members leaned in to get a closer look, and their director let out a low whistle. "Wow, that looks expensive," one of them commented.
“It is!” Youngji exclaimed, her eyes still wide. “Luna, why would you give me something this pretty? I don’t deserve this!” She looked up at Luna, completely stunned.
Luna laughed softly, shaking her head. “I was in Paris for a schedule a few weeks ago, and I thought of you. I know you like hosting and cooking on your show, so I figured you might appreciate something like this. Plus, I love pretty cutlery and tableware myself,” she added with a grin, “so I thought you might enjoy it too.”
Youngji blinked, processing Luna’s words as she gently ran her fingers over the smooth surface of one of the plates. “Wait, so you’ve been planning this? You thought of me while you were in Paris?” She sounded both flattered and bewildered, her voice growing a little softer as she spoke.
Luna nodded earnestly. “Yes. I wanted to get you something meaningful, and I knew I’d be coming here, so I wanted it to be special.”
Suddenly, Youngji stood up from her chair, bowing deeply on the ground in a dramatic fashion. "Thank you so much. I feel so honored! I don’t think I’ve ever received something this thoughtful in my life!” She remained bent at the waist, her voice filled with gratitude.
Luna’s laughter filled the room, the sound light and full of warmth. “Youngji, you don’t have to bow like that!” she said between giggles, waving her hands. “It’s just a gift. I’m happy you like it.”
As Youngji straightened up, she grinned from ear to ear. “Like it? I love it! I’m never going to let anyone else touch these— ever. They’re going into a glass case!” She cradled the box as if it were a precious relic.
The room was filled with laughter as the two women continued to gush over the gift.
Youngji leaned back in her chair, her eyes glinting with playful curiosity. “Okay, okay, let’s start this thing right,” she said, clasping her hands together dramatically. “So, I heard from Hoshi…” she paused for effect, glancing at Luna as if to prepare her for the big reveal, “…that you don’t drink beer?”
Luna laughed, a little sheepish as she nodded. “Yeah, beer’s really not my thing. I don’t like the taste.”
With an exaggerated nod, Youngji clapped her hands together. “I knew it! That’s why,” she gestured toward the small bar set up next to them, “I prepared an assortment of drinks for you. I thought, you know, options! Since you’re not a beer girl.” She stood up, making a grand gesture as she presented the collection of spirits and mixers she had lined up.
Luna raised her eyebrows in surprise, genuinely impressed. “Wow, this is… a lot. You didn’t have to do all that.”
“I know, but you deserve it,” Youngji said with a wink. “So, let’s see what we’ve got here. There’s soju, white wine, red wine, even some gin.” She paused, her expression suddenly serious as she pointed at one of the bottles. “I tried the gin earlier, and, to be honest, I’m not sure you’re gonna like it.”
Luna, instead of shying away as Youngji had expected, tilted her head and smiled. “I think I’ll try the gin, actually.”
The room fell into a brief silence.
“Wait, really?” Youngji blinked in disbelief, holding the bottle like it might bite. “You’re sure? Gin’s pretty strong, you know…”
Luna nodded confidently, her calm demeanor unwavering. “Yeah, I’m sure. It’s fine.”
Youngji eyed her suspiciously, but with a shrug, she began to pour two shots into small glasses. “Okay, okay,” she muttered, “but don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
As the gin splashed into the glasses, Luna leaned back casually in her chair. “The only alcohol I don’t drink is beer,” she deadpanned, her voice so even and serious that it took a second for the joke to register. “And rubbing alcohol,” she added after a beat.
The room burst into laughter, including Youngji, who was nearly doubling over as she placed the gin bottle back on the table. “Oh my God, Luna, please!” she cackled, her voice high-pitched with mock of amusement. “You’re a comedian!”
Luna grinned, taking the glass from Youngji’s hand and raising it. “Cheers?”
Youngji straightened up and mirrored her, though her expression was still one of doubt. “Cheers!” They clinked their glasses together before tilting their heads back and downing the shots.
What shocked everyone in the room wasn’t Youngji, who immediately cringed and shuddered as if she had just been electrocuted— her whole body recoiling from the harsh bite of the gin.
It was Luna, who didn’t even flinch. She set her glass back down on the table without as much as a twitch, her face a picture of calm serenity, as if she had just taken a sip of water rather than a strong gin.
Youngji, still recovering, blinked at her in awe. “What the—” she stammered, her voice almost a whisper. “You didn’t even move!”
The crew let out murmurs of admiration, their eyes wide as they continued to marvel at Luna’s steely composure.
Luna laughed softly, raising her shoulders in a playful shrug. “What can I say? I’m just built differently.”
Youngji stared at her for a moment longer, completely shocked, before shaking her head in disbelief. “You’re scary, Luna,” she finally declared, making the crew chuckle. “Like, seriously.”
Luna’s laughter filled the room again, light and warm. “Oh, come on, I’m not scary!”
Youngji raised her hands, gesturing dramatically toward Luna’s cool composure. “This is exactly what I mean! Who takes gin like that? Scary.”
Luna shook her head, still smiling. “You’re too much.”
Wiping away an imaginary tear, Youngji straightened up in her chair and cleared her throat. “Alright, alright,” she began, transitioning the conversation with a more serious tone, “I just have to get this out of the way— because it’s been on my mind for a while.”
Luna raised an eyebrow, curious but smiling. “Oh? What is it?”
Youngji leaned forward, eyes narrowing playfully. “You… intimidate me,” she confessed with a laugh, though there was a slight hint of truth in her tone. “Like, seriously. I don’t know why, but I was so nervous before meeting you!”
Luna’s lips curled into a knowing smirk, her eyebrow lifting in amusement. “You’re not the first to say that,” she replied, her voice light and almost teasing. “I get that a lot, actually.”
Youngji’s eyes widened slightly as she sat back, looking genuinely surprised. “Really?”
Luna nodded, her expression softening. “Yeah. Ever since I was younger, people would always tell me I gave off that vibe,” she explained with a shrug. “Even during my trainee years, people thought I was kind of… scary, I guess.”
Youngji tilted her head, clearly intrigued. “But, like, you’re so chill. Did that ever bother you? People thinking you’re intimidating?”
For a moment, Luna hesitated, her gaze dropping to the table as she considered the question. Then, she shook her head. “It used to when I was younger. It kind of got to me because I thought, ‘Why do people think that about me? I’m not like that at all.’” She paused, her voice soft but steady. “But I realized, you know, people are gonna believe what they want to believe. And usually, once they get to know me, that impression changes.”
Youngji nodded thoughtfully, absorbing Luna’s words. “So it doesn’t offend you anymore?”
Luna shook her head again, more firmly this time. “No, not really. I mean, it’s a part of life, right? First impressions aren’t always accurate.” She chuckled softly before glancing toward the cameras where the director and staff were sitting, her eyes twinkling with humor. “I’m not a scary person, I promise,” she called out to them, making everyone laugh. “My face just looks like this! It’s my resting face.”
Youngji burst out laughing, nodding in agreement. “See, this is why you’re dangerous! The duality!”
Luna couldn’t help but join in, her laughter filling the room as Youngji playfully fanned herself, pretending to recover from the “shock” of Luna’s words.
Youngji clinked her glass lightly against Luna's before refilling both their glasses with gin, the clear liquid sloshing in the light. She squinted at Luna mischievously, a playful grin pulling at the corner of her lips.
“Alright, Luna-ssi,” she said, leaning forward a little, eyebrows raised in faux suspicion, “I wanna hear some things about your drinking habits. What’s the deal? You don’t like drinking beer, but... for some reason like gin. What’s your alcohol tolerance, hm?” Her words came out with that infectious energy she was known for, her curiosity a mix of casual but always playful.
Luna, who had been comfortably sitting, looked amused at the question. She let out a light laugh, glancing down at the gin-filled glass in front of her. “Well,” she began, her voice thoughtful, “I don’t really like drinking that much. I guess you could say I’m more of a social drinker. I mean... I drink when it’s for occasions like this—” she gestured around to Youngji and the cameras. “—but I don’t usually go out of my way for it.”
Youngji leaned in closer, her eyes wide with exaggerated disbelief. “Oh come on, you have to give me more than that! What about your tolerance? You seem like you could hold your own.”
Luna chuckled, shaking her head. “Actually, I do have a pretty high alcohol tolerance.” She paused, taking the glass and swirling the gin around as if she were contemplating it deeply. “But... I’m going to be honest, I think this gin is going to end me tonight.”
That comment got a chorus of laughter from the crew, and Youngji burst into giggles, almost spilling her own drink in the process. “That’s what I thought!” Youngji exclaimed, slapping her knee. “Gin is no joke! It’s like... it’s like a slap in the face.”
Luna grinned, raising the glass to her lips but pausing to add, “But don’t get me wrong— I’m not saying I can’t handle it. It’s just... you know… It’s strong.”
Youngji dramatically recoiled back into her chair, waving her hands. “No, no. You’re too calm about this. If you’ve got a high tolerance, I’m scared for my own life now.” Her voice dropped in mock fear, and she glanced towards the crew with an exaggerated wide-eyed expression.
Luna deadpanned, looking Youngji squarely in the eye. “Youngji-ah... you’re not normal.”
Youngji cackled so hard she nearly fell out of her chair, grabbing the edge of the table for support as she doubled over in laughter. Her laughter was infectious, and soon, everyone in the room was laughing along with her, the absurdity of the situation settling over them like a warm blanket.
Still recovering, Youngji wiped a tear from her eye, shaking her head. “I—” she began, gasping for breath. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” She held her hands up in surrender but was still chuckling. “I’ll tone it down.”
Luna just shook her head, smiling warmly. “Don’t worry about it,” she replied smoothly, her calm demeanor only adding to the comedic contrast of the situation. “I’m used to it. Besides, I work with thirteen guys. Crazy is... pretty much my normal.”
That comment earned another round of laughter from the crew, and even Youngji was back to cackling, clapping her hands. “Touché! Oh my God, you’ve definitely been through it.”
Luna gave a knowing nod, a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. “You have no idea.”
As the laughter died down, Youngji straightened herself in her chair, taking her glass of gin again. “Alright, alright,” she said, breathing deeply as if preparing for battle. “Here we go, another shot of gin— because I’m trying to be brave in front of Luna.”
Luna gave her a mock-serious nod like she was some kind of alcohol sensei. “Good luck,” she said solemnly, lifting her own glass. They clinked glasses once more and threw back their drinks, Youngji immediately cringing as the gin hit her throat.
“Aghhh!” Youngji exclaimed, shaking her head violently as the strong alcohol sent a wave of heat through her chest. “I’m... alive... but barely.”
Luna, on the other hand, took her shot like a pro, setting the glass down with a cool, calm expression. “Not bad,” she said casually.
Youngji stared at her, completely dumbfounded. “How are you so calm?! Do you not have taste buds or something? That was like drinking fire!”
Luna chuckled, but her expression remained almost too composed. “You just need practice,” she said, her voice light and teasing. The crew burst into laughter once again at her nonchalant attitude, while Youngji just pointed at Luna in mock accusation.
“You are terrifying. Absolutely terrifying,” Youngji declared, pretending to back away from her guest as if she were dangerous.
Luna finally let out a real laugh, shaking her head. “I promise, I’m not that scary,” she reassured her, though the grin on her face said otherwise.
“Well, Luna,” Youngji sighed, leaning back in her chair dramatically. “I think I’ve learned something today— never challenge Luna to a drinking contest.” She pointed at the camera as if issuing a public service announcement. “Don’t do it. You will lose.”
The two shared another laugh, the playful energy between them making the room feel alive.
Youngji leaned back in her chair, eyes sparkling with the mischievous curiosity that made her such a great host. “So…” she started, a playful tone creeping into her voice as she transitioned to English, “I heard you’re from London.”
Luna raised her eyebrows and let out a small chuckle. “Oh, you heard?” she teased. She knew this topic would come up eventually— it always did.
“Yeah!” Youngji exclaimed, practically bouncing in her seat as she grabbed her glass for another sip. “I’ve been dying to ask you about that. So, you grew up in Kensington, right?”
Luna smiled warmly, nodding. “Yeah, I was born and raised there.”
Youngji’s eyes widened as if she had just been handed some earth-shattering news. “Kensington! That sounds so fancy! Isn’t that where all the rich people live?” Her tone was exaggerated, causing Luna to burst out laughing.
“It’s not that fancy,” Luna tried to downplay it, still giggling. “But yeah, it’s a nice area.”
Youngji leaned in dramatically, narrowing her eyes. “So, do you have that proper British accent? Like the ones in movies? Can you say something like—” she thought for a second, then added in the most over-the-top British accent she could manage, “Would you like a cup of tea, madam?”
Luna doubled over laughing, holding up her hand. “No, no, no— oh my God, that accent!” she exclaimed, barely able to get the words out. “That’s like… a parody of what people think British people sound like!”
Youngji grinned, not backing down. “Oh, come on! You gotta give me something! Is your accent like that?”
Luna shook her head, still laughing. “My accent’s softer now,” she explained. “It used to be a lot deeper when I was younger. Very English. But I’ve lived abroad so long now, it’s kind of… faded. Plus, I’ve been in Korea for years, so it’s not as strong as it used to be.”
Youngji’s eyes lit up with intrigue. “Ooooh, so you were, like, super British when you were little?”
Luna nodded, a fond smile crossing her lips. “Yeah, I was very much the stereotypical British kid— mummy can I have some more cake,” she said in a perfect British accent, throwing her hand up in an exaggerated way that made Youngji cackle in delight. “My mom loved to bake, so I would say that a lot.”
“There it is!” Youngji pointed at her, laughing. “That’s the accent I wanted to hear! You sounded like you just walked out of a Harry Potter!”
Luna rolled her eyes playfully. “I mean, it’s still there… when I’m really tired, frustrated, or angry, it comes out more.”
Youngji leaned forward, eyes gleaming. “Okay, I have to hear you speak when tired then.”
Luna smirked, raising her glass. “Maybe after a few more drinks. We’ll see.”
Youngji grinned at the challenge. “I’ll hold you to that!”
They both clinked their glasses, and the atmosphere between them relaxed and filled with a playful energy.
“So, what’s it like growing up there?” Youngji asked, refilling Luna’s glass. “It sounds so glamorous.”
Luna shrugged casually, swirling the gin in her glass. “I mean, it was… nice, but it wasn’t all that different from growing up anywhere else, I guess. Except maybe the weather— it’s London, mostly gloomy. It rains a lot.”
Youngji scrunched her nose in mock disgust. “Oh no, I’d hate that. I need sunshine to survive.”
Luna laughed. “Yeah, me too! Gloomy weather makes me feel like I’m sick but I do miss it sometimes.”
Youngji tapped her chin, her eyes narrowing again as if something had just dawned on her. “Wait, does that mean you drank tea all the time? Isn’t that, like, a thing in the UK?”
Luna deadpanned, her voice dropping to a flat, mock-serious tone. “Yes. Tea is basically our water.”
Youngji burst out laughing again, clutching her stomach. “I knew it! I knew it was real!”
Luna grinned, shaking her head. “No, but seriously—everyone drinks tea. It’s a big deal.”
“Did you ever go to those fancy tea parties?” Youngji asked, still giggling.
Luna snorted. “What do you think, we all sit around in gowns drinking tea out of gold cups? It’s not like that!”
Youngji threw her head back laughing. “I was imagining you in one of those big hats and everything!”
“Yeah, no,” Luna chuckled. “It was mostly just normal attire with a cup of tea.”
Youngji wiped away a tear from laughing so hard, shaking her head. “Oh my God, you’re destroying all my British fantasies.”
“Good,” Luna said, raising her glass again. “Someone needed to.”
The two of them burst into laughter once more, the conversation flowing seamlessly between playful banter and genuine curiosity. Every now and then, Luna’s British accent would slip out, only to send Youngji into another fit of giggles as she begged her to keep talking like that.
Youngji, still giggling from their last exchange about tea parties, reached for the bottle of gin and poured them both another shot. “Okay, one more,” she said with a playful grin, raising her glass. Luna winced but smiled, nodding in agreement. They clinked their glasses together, and with a quick breath, they downed the shots.
Luna’s face immediately scrunched up as the gin burned its way down her throat. “Oh my God,” she groaned, setting her glass down as if it had personally offended her. “I’m starting to feel it.”
Youngji, equally as dramatic, smacked her lips, shaking her head in mock disbelief. “How do people drink this for fun?!” she exclaimed, fanning her face.
Luna laughed, “I don’t know… we are doing it right now though.”
Youngji burst out laughing again, slumping back into her chair. “Girl— you’re right, girl!”
Still recovering from the shot, Youngji tapped her fingers on the table, curiosity creeping into her expression. “So,” she began, “I’ve always wondered… Why did you want to become an idol? And how was it adjusting to moving to Korea?”
Luna took a deep breath, leaning back in her chair as she smiled a little to herself. “Honestly, it shocked me as much as anyone else,” she started. “I was a ballerina back in London, you know.”
Youngji’s eyes lit up, and she pointed at Luna with exaggerated confidence. “I know! You were!”
Luna couldn’t help but chuckle at how proud Youngji sounded, but she continued her story. “Yeah, so I was pretty set on becoming a professional ballet dancer. That was my world. But… when I was about thirteen, something weird happened.”
Youngji leaned forward, intrigued. “Weird how?”
Luna’s eyes sparkled with the memory, her voice becoming more animated. “I was doing a ballet recital, right? Performing in front of a big crowd like I usually do. And I was always laser-focused when I performed ballet— always. But that night… for some reason, as I was dancing, this… this urge came over me.”
Youngji’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “An urge?”
“To sing,” Luna said, almost dramatically, her eyes wide with disbelief, even as she remembered it. “In the middle of my ballet routine, I had this sudden urge to just start singing. Like, right then and there on stage. I had never felt anything like that before.”
Youngji’s mouth fell open in shock. “What?! You wanted to just burst out into song during a ballet performance?”
Luna nodded, laughing softly at the absurdity of it. “Exactly. I remember thinking, ‘What is going on with me? I’m supposed to be focused on this performance, and all I can think about is singing.’ That’s when I knew something was shifting.”
Youngji stared at her, mouth still agape before finally pointing at Luna again. “You’re insane,” she said, but with the utmost affection. “In the best way, though.”
Luna grinned, shaking her head. “I guess so. That’s when I started thinking seriously about singing and performing on stage in a different way.”
Youngji was still processing Luna’s unexpected revelation, but then her expression shifted, curiosity spiking again. “So… how did your parents react to all of this? Were they, like, cool with you just dropping ballet?”
Luna leaned back, taking a moment to think. “Well, at first, they were pretty hesitant— my mom especially since she’s a retired ballerina and she trained me. Ballet had been my life for so long, and they had supported me all the way. So when I told them I wanted to move to Korea and become an idol…”
Youngji gasped dramatically, leaning in with a hand to her chest. “Wait, you told them that straight up?! You didn’t slowly plant the idea in their head?”
“Yeah,” Luna laughed. “I was dead serious. They were pretty surprised, but once they saw how committed I was, they agreed. It wasn’t easy, though.”
Youngji nodded, still hanging on every word. “So when did you move to Korea?”
“When I was about fourteen,” Luna replied. “I stayed with my aunt for a while before I started training.”
“Fourteen?!” Youngji exclaimed. “That’s so young! Was it hard adjusting?”
Luna nodded thoughtfully. “It was really tough at first. Being away from home, mastering Korean— I knew a little Korean before moving here but it wasn’t perfect, so naturally I had to study. I had to balance school and training… it was a lot.”
Youngji’s expression softened. “But you had your members, right?”
Luna smiled warmly. “Yeah, I’m really grateful for them. They helped me adjust, especially Jeonghannie oppa.”
Youngji perked up at the mention of Jeonghan’s name. “Jeonghan-ssi? Really? Why?”
Luna nodded. “He was my first real friend when I got here. He kind of looked out for me and took care of me, made sure I wasn’t too homesick.”
Youngji’s eyes softened, a rare moment of calm on her usually excitable face. “That’s sweet.”
Luna chuckled. “Yeah, he’s pretty sweet.”
Youngji, not missing a beat, clapped her hands together and leaned in again, her usual energy returning. “Okay, but wait— did he help you learn Korean, or did he just make fun of you the whole time?”
Luna burst out laughing at the thought. “A bit of both, honestly. He definitely teased me a lot.”
“Of course he did. Teenage boys are like that.” Youngji deadpanned, shaking her head knowingly.
The two of them dissolved into laughter once again, the conversation shifting back to their usual playful banter.
Youngji, still smiling after Luna’s sweet mention of Jeonghan, leaned forward and asked, curiosity lighting up her face. “Okay, so what’s it like having thirteen guys around you all the time? It must be insane, unnie!”
She grabbed another piece of food from the table and popped it into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully as she waited for Luna’s answer. Luna, mirroring Youngji’s actions, took a bite herself, pausing for a second to gather her thoughts.
“It’s… honestly, it’s the best,” Luna said with a soft smile. “I feel really blessed to have them. They’re like… my family.”
Youngji’s eyebrows shot up dramatically, and she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Thirteen brothers? That’s, like, a sitcom waiting to happen!” she exclaimed, waving her chopsticks in the air.
Luna awkwardly laughed before nodding in agreement. “You could say that. But really, I’m so grateful that I met them.”
Youngji pointed her chopsticks at Luna, her eyes wide with exaggerated amazement. “Girl, you better be grateful! You’ve got a whole squad.”
Luna chuckled, leaning back in her seat as she reminisced. “I’m an only child, so growing up, I was used to being on my own. I loved it in a lot of ways, but… it was kind of lonely sometimes.”
Youngji raised her eyebrows and nodded. “Yeah, I bet. No siblings to steal your clothes or your food or fight over toys with?”
“Exactly!” Luna replied, laughing. “But it also meant I didn’t have that built-in friend growing up. I didn’t really have that many close friends in school either. I was… a little bit shy, I guess.”
Youngji gasped dramatically. “You? Shy?”
Luna nodded, her laughter more sheepish now. “Yeah, I was. I remember wishing I could have a lot of friends, people I could really trust, you know? And now… well, now I have thirteen best friends.”
Youngji’s jaw dropped again as if she had just heard the most unbelievable thing in the world. “Thirteen best friends… That’s so unfair,” she groaned, leaning forward and resting her chin on her hand. “I’m so jealous.”
Luna smiled softly, her eyes shining as she continued, “Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without them. Sometimes I think about it, you know? In another universe, maybe I didn’t audition, or maybe I didn’t end up in the final lineup… but I still feel like, somehow, I would have found my way to them. Even if it was just as a fan.”
Youngji let out a dramatic wail, sliding off her chair onto the floor as if Luna’s words had physically overwhelmed her. “Noooo! Why are you so sweet?” she whined, lying face-down on the ground, her hands covering her head as if she couldn’t handle the emotions.
Luna burst out laughing, pointing at Youngji flopped on the floor like a starfish. “What are you doing?” she giggled, her laughter echoing through the room.
Youngji peeked up from the ground, her face scrunched up in mock agony. “You’re so lucky! I want thirteen best friends too! Why don’t I have that?!”
Luna, still laughing, shook her head. “Well, you can start with me. I’ll be your first best friend.”
Youngji’s eyes widened like a child who had just been told they could have unlimited candy. “Really?!” she squealed, and then suddenly, she started wiggling on the ground, sliding up and down like a worm. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” she chanted, her excitement bubbling over, making the camera crew in the room burst into laughter as well.
Luna was laughing so hard her stomach hurt, and between giggles, she pointed at Youngji. “Okay, stop! Get off the floor!” she said playfully, shaking her head in disbelief.
Youngji, still wiggling dramatically, finally let out a sigh of contentment and flopped onto her back, staring up at the ceiling. “I’m jealous, but like, in the best way,” she declared with a dramatic wave of her hand. “You’re so lucky. Thirteen best friends… I’m still gonna say it’s unfair.”
Luna chuckled, combing her fingers through her hair. “Well, now you have me, so we’re off to a good start.”
Youngji sat up with a determined look in her eyes. “I’m starting my own best friend group. It’s gonna be epic.”
The crew continued to laugh as Youngji sat cross-legged on the floor, her hands on her hips as if she had just made the most important decision of her life.
As Youngji clambered back onto her seat, she dusted off her pants with exaggerated flair, earning a few chuckles from the crew. Settling into her chair, she reached for her drink, only for Luna to suddenly deadpan, “I must be getting tipsy… I don’t usually pour my feelings out like this.”
Her tone was so unexpectedly dry and serious that the entire room erupted in laughter. Even Youngji slapped the table, her shoulders shaking as she tried to catch her breath.
Luna blinked innocently, bringing her hand up to check her own cheeks for warmth. “Yeah, definitely getting warm…”
Youngji, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye, snickered, “Oh no, if you’re getting tipsy, then I’m in serious trouble.” She leaned in closer, almost as if she was about to share a secret, “You know what this means? It’s time for a drinking game.”
Luna raised an eyebrow, watching curiously as Youngji turned towards the front of the set, where one of the crew members handed her something. Youngji grabbed it with a grin, bringing it back to the table like a prize she couldn’t wait to show off.
From behind her back, she revealed a toy: the Pop-Up Pirate game, except instead of the usual pirate figure in the barrel, it was a tiny Hello Kitty, and the entire barrel was painted pink with adorable little hearts.
Luna’s eyes lit up, a mixture of amusement and surprise flickering across her face. “That’s so cute!” she exclaimed, pointing at the Hello Kitty figure. Her attention was half on the game and half on the food still on her plate, absentmindedly eating as Youngji prepared the game.
Youngji was in her element now, the gin starting to take full effect as she chaotically began explaining the rules, her words coming out in a rapid, excited slur. “Okay, okay, here’s how it works. You stick the swords in the barrel—” she made a dramatic poking motion, “—and when Hello Kitty pops up? Boom, you gotta take a shot.”
Luna nodded slowly, processing the instructions as she chewed on her food, her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk. Still mid-bite, she asked, “What does the winner get?”
There was a pause.
Everyone turned to look at her, including the crew, and they couldn’t hold back their laughter at how adorable she looked, her face stuffed with food, eyes wide with curiosity. “She’s so cute,” one of the staff whispered to another, and Youngji pointed at Luna, grinning like she’d found her new favorite thing.
“Bragging rights, obviously!” Youngji declared triumphantly, waving her hand as if that was the ultimate prize.
Luna simply nodded, her cheeks still full as she swallowed her bite. “Got it,” she said, her voice muffled but satisfied.
Youngji, still laughing under her breath, scooted some glasses out of the way, creating space in the middle of the table. With an overly dramatic flourish, she placed the pink barrel in the center, the little Hello Kitty bobbing slightly in its spot.
Youngji, with her trademark tipsy grin, raised her arms in the air like she was signaling a race. “Alright, let’s start!” she slurred excitedly.
Luna, still chewing quietly, gave a little “Ok” hand sign, her cheeks slightly puffed out with food, causing more chuckles from the crew.
Youngji wobbled a little in her chair before turning her attention to Luna, who was still chewing. “Since you’re the guest…” Youngji waved her hand dramatically toward the Hello Kitty barrel. “You go first!”
Luna, still in her quiet, focused state, swallowed her last bite and calmly reached over to the tiny pink sword resting on the table. She picked it up, inspecting it for a second before leaning in toward the barrel. She found an empty slot and gingerly inserted the sword into the opening.
The crew watched closely, but Hello Kitty remained safely inside.
“Ahhh, close one,” Youngji teased, her voice slurred as she pointed at Luna. “See? Beginner’s luck… but don’t worry, it won’t last.”
Luna simply smiled, staying quiet as she reached for another bite of food. It was now Youngji’s turn, and she stood up, suddenly all fired up. “Alright, alright. Watch this!” she boasted, picking up her mini sword with exaggerated importance. “I’m, like, really good at this game. Haven’t lost once.”
The crew exchanged knowing glances, stifling their laughter, but Youngji didn’t notice. She rambled on, standing over the pink barrel. “See, the key is to—” But before she could finish her sentence, she slid her sword into the slot, and with a loud pop, Hello Kitty flew out of the barrel.
The entire crew burst into laughter, clapping and pointing at Youngji’s misfortune as she stood there frozen in shock, mouth open in disbelief.
Luna, meanwhile, glanced up at Youngji with her big doe eyes, still chewing quietly, almost like she was mentally asking, What was that?
The silence was broken when the crew started chanting, “Shot! Shot! Shot!” Luna bopped her head lightly to the chant, finding the whole situation far too amusing.
Youngji snapped back to reality, letting out a playful groan as she reached for the bottle to pour herself a shot. “Alright, alright, I get it. I lost,” she mockingly declared, waving off the crowd with fake defeat as she poured the drink. “I’ll drink, I’ll drink…”
Luna, having swallowed her bite by now, deadpanned, “Wah, Youngji, you really have bad luck.”
The crew erupted into even louder laughter, and Youngji scoffed, shaking her head as if she couldn’t believe the shade being thrown at her. “Yah! It’s not that! I told you, you’re just too lucky!”
Luna, with her perfect comedic timing, tilted her head slightly and responded, “It could be both.”
Youngji had barely raised the shot glass to her lips when Luna’s words hit, causing her to almost spit out her drink as she laughed. The sight of Youngji trying to keep it together only made the crew laugh harder.
Luna chuckled at the chaos she’d just created, clearly entertained by how easily her words had thrown Youngji off balance.
Youngji, still giggling from her last defeat, slapped her hands on the table and leaned toward Luna, her words slightly slurring. “Alright, round two. We’re doing another one!” She pointed dramatically at the barrel, her drunken determination shining through.
Luna smirked and nodded calmly, her coolness an amusing contrast to Youngji’s energetic chaos. “Sure,” she said, her voice even. “Let’s do it.”
They reset the barrel, and Youngji, with exaggerated concentration, handed Luna another pink sword. “You first,” she slurred, pretending to be gracious.
Luna inserted her sword into the barrel with ease, Hello Kitty remained still.
Youngji shot her a suspicious look, leaning in toward the toy. “This time for sure,” she muttered under her breath as she selected her own sword. She raised it above her head like it was a lightsaber. “Watch and learn,” she bragged, but her hand wobbled as she inserted the sword— nothing happened.
Luna, still calm, chose her next sword without much fuss, slipping it in.
Again, nothing.
Youngji was clearly trying to psyche herself up. “You know,” she said, slurring slightly, “I have a theory. I think this Hello Kitty likes me. That’s why she’s staying in, she doesn’t want to leave me.” She poked at the toy’s head playfully.
Luna bit back a smile. “Maybe you’re too nice. You should try being more firm with her.”
Youngji shook her head, picking up another sword. “Oh, no, no, no. It’s all about finesse.” She placed her sword into the barrel, her fingers barely grazing the surface as she bragged, “See, I—” But her sentence was cut off by the sudden pop of the toy, and Hello Kitty flew out, shocking them both.
The crew erupted in laughter again as Youngji froze in disbelief, her hands raised in surrender. “Noooo!” she cried, her voice dramatically slurred as she pointed accusingly at the barrel. “I swear this game is rigged.”
Luna calmly looked at her, then tilted her head slightly, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “I don’t think Hello Kitty likes you that much,” she deadpanned.
The crew lost it, laughing even harder at Luna’s cool and dry delivery. Youngji’s jaw dropped, her hands flailing toward Luna as she exclaimed, “You— Luna… you’re too much.” She poured herself a shot as the crew continued to chant, “Shot! Shot! Shot!”
Luna sat back, watching the scene unfold, her smile subtle but growing as Youngji dramatically poured her drink. “You’re too lucky!” Youngji whined, shooting Luna a side-eye.
Luna leaned in slightly. “Or maybe,” she quipped, “you’re just that unlucky.”
Youngji snorted and almost choked on her drink. “It’s both,” she said between coughs, while Luna chuckled under her breath, clearly entertained.
Youngji, wiping her eyes from the laughter, looked at Luna with a sly grin. “Alright, alright, you won fair and square, but now… since you’re on a winning streak, you have to do something special for the viewers.” She leaned in conspiratorially, her tone dripping with mischief. “How about a little dance from SEVENTEEN’s new comeback song, ‘_WORLD’? Give the people what they want!”
Luna, mid-chuckle, raised an eyebrow in amusement, “You want me to dance now? Here?”
“Yes!” Youngji pointed at her dramatically, her words slurred with excitement. “You gotta show off for the audience. It’s what the fans want! Plus, you’re on a roll.”
Luna rolled her eyes playfully, “You just want to see me dance.”
Youngji waved her hands dismissively. “Noooo!” Then, leaning in, she added with a wink, “Okay, maybe a little. But you always look amazing, I swear!”
With a small laugh, Luna reached for her phone, scrolling quickly to find the song, and joked. “Fine, fine, but don’t blame me if this goes viral.”
As Luna pulled up the track, Youngji suddenly snatched an empty glass cup from the table. “Wait, wait, wait! Put your phone in here!” she exclaimed, slurring the words as she held the cup out.
Luna’s laughter bubbled up as she realized what Youngji was suggesting. “You want to make a makeshift speaker?”
“Exactly!” Youngji nodded vigorously. “Trust me, it’ll make it sound soooo much better.”
Giggling, Luna placed her phone in the glass, and the music immediately amplified, filling the room with the upbeat rhythm of ‘_WORLD.’ Youngji clapped her hands with delight. “See? I’m a genius!”
Luna shook her head in amusement, standing up from her seat. “Okay, genius. Let’s see if I can pull this off tipsy.”
With the song blasting from the cup-turned-speaker, Luna waddled over to the small open space next to the table. Her movements were playful and exaggerated as she shuffled, her hands spread slightly for balance, eliciting laughter from Youngji and the crew.
Youngji, eyes wide and cheeks flushed from the alcohol clapped loudly. “Luna! Luna!” she cheered, her slurred voice barely keeping up with the rhythm.
As the chorus hit, Luna’s body naturally found the beat. Though the space was small and her head was a bit light from the drinks, she danced with an effortless grace, keeping her movements lively but controlled. She twirled lightly, then shot smiles and winks toward the camera, her face lighting up with the same charisma she showed on stage during performances.
Youngji, her enthusiasm spilling over, hollered, “Oh! Yesss! That’s it! Kill it, girl!” Her hands flailed in the air as she danced along with the song, albeit off-key and with a few mumbled words spilling out of her mouth.
The crew joined in, cheering and clapping, egging Luna on. Luna made eye contact with one of the cameras and winked, her expression flipping into full performance mode as she hit the final moves of the snippet. Her smile never wavered, and her eyes gleamed with playful confidence as if she were on stage at a massive concert rather than in a cozy room with tipsy friends.
As the chorus ended, Luna slowed her movements, bowing with a flourish as the music continued softly in the background. The room erupted into applause, Youngji leading the charge with a loud, “Woooo!” She slumped back into her seat, still clapping like an overenthusiastic fan.
“You’re too good! Too good!” Youngji exclaimed between claps, her words slurring even more now. “I don’t know how you do it. If I were you, I’d have fallen on my face by now!”
Luna giggled, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Thank you, thank you,” she said dramatically, bowing again. “But that was just me joking around.”
Youngji threw her hands up in mock disbelief. “Joking around?! Girl, that was perfection. I’m so jealous right now. I have a list now— I need thirteen best friends and your talent.”
Luna shook her head, laughing softly as she made her way back to the table. “You can have the best friends part, but the dancing? That’s all hard work.”
“Hard work and a little magic,” Youngji slurred, pouring herself another drink. She raised the glass toward Luna, still basking in the afterglow of the impromptu performance.
The crew chuckled at the toast, and Luna, a bit bashful, held up her glass in return. “I’ll take that,” she said with a grin. “Thank you, Youngji.”
They clinked glasses, Youngji still humming the melody of ‘_WORLD’ under her breath, completely content as Luna sat back down, feeling a little more lighthearted and relaxed.
Youngji, still buzzing from Luna’s impromptu performance, leaned forward with a playful grin. Her words came out slurred but full of curiosity. “Okay, okay, I gotta know,” she said, waving her hand dramatically in the air. “How do you do those killer facial expressions? Like… when you perform, you’re so good at it! Do you… like… practice in front of the mirror or something?”
Luna, who was nibbling on her pizza, chuckled softly and shook her head. “It’s not something I practice on purpose, really. I think it’s a talent I didn’t know I had, but it actually comes from ballet.”
“You do facial expressions in ballet?” Youngji repeated, eyes wide in drunken fascination. “Like… swan stuff?”
Luna nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah, exactly. Facial expressions are really important in ballet. You have to convey a lot of emotion with your face because there’s no speaking. I think I just got used to emphasizing that, and when I perform with SEVENTEEN, it’s kind of second nature.”
Youngji stared at her, processing the information through her tipsy haze. “So… when you’re dancing, all those expressions… it’s like, fun for you? Like you enjoy making those faces?”
Luna nodded. “Yeah, it’s actually really fun. I think it helps relay the message of the song better. It’s one thing to dance, but if your face tells the story too, it’s more impactful.”
Youngji nodded vigorously. “Totally. Totally. So, like… what’s your favorite kind of expression? Like, do you like the cute stuff, or…?”
Luna laughed, glancing at her hands for a moment before answering. “I’m actually not that good at cute expressions,” she admitted, her voice a little shy. “I prefer the sexy, more mature, and cool looks.”
Youngji gasped in mock outrage. “Not good at cute?! Are you kidding? You’re, like, naturally cute! You literally proved that earlier when you danced!”
Luna couldn’t help but laugh again, nodding her head as she humored Youngji. “Thank you, I guess,” she said, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm.
“No, seriously,” Youngji insisted, her eyes wide with sincerity. “I’m telling the truth! You’re cute and sexy— it’s unfair!” She slapped the table lightly, the alcohol clearly fueling her exaggerated emotions.
Luna shook her head, still chuckling. “Okay, okay, I’ll take your word for it.”
But Youngji wasn’t done. With a sudden burst of energy, she clapped her hands. “Show us again! Show us those cute facial expressions while you dance. Come on, just one more time!”
Luna rolled her eyes playfully, though she was clearly enjoying the teasing. “What song should I play, then?” she asked, pulling out her phone and scrolling through her playlist.
Youngji thought for a moment, her face scrunched up in concentration. Then, as if a lightbulb had gone off, she shot up from her seat, clapping her hands together. “Oh! ‘Pretty U’! ‘Pretty U’! You have to do that one!” she shouted, pointing at Luna with wild excitement.
Luna raised an eyebrow, but she couldn’t suppress the smile creeping up on her lips. “‘Pretty U’? Really?”
“Yes!” Youngji slurred, nearly tripping over her own enthusiasm. “It’s perfect!”
With a cool nod, Luna found the song, played it, and once again placed her phone in the glass cup. As the music started, she stood up and stretched slightly, her movements slow and exaggerated as she prepared herself. “I’m really not good at cute expressions, you know,” she murmured under her breath as she walked back to the small open space.
Youngji, already swaying to the melody, slurred in disagreement. “Lies! Lies, I tell you! You perform this song so well! You’re gonna be adorable!”
Before Luna could start, Youngji held up a hand. “Wait, wait! You need a shot for more confidence!” She grabbed the bottle and poured a generous shot, handing it to Luna with a wide grin.
Luna burst out laughing, but she took the shot, downed it, and nodded at Youngji. “Alright, fine. Let’s see how this goes.”
As the bright, bubbly chorus of ‘Pretty U’ began to play, Luna shifted her demeanor. Her expression softened, a bright smile breaking across her face as she danced along to the chorus, the usual choreography mixed with over-the-top cute facial expressions. She batted her eyelashes toward the camera, made exaggerated heart signs, and even puffed her cheeks as she twirled lightly in the tiny space.
Youngji and her crew erupted into cheers and laughter, clapping wildly as Luna continued to dance. “You’re so cute!” Youngji shouted, her voice cracking from the sheer enthusiasm. “Yes, Luna, yes!”
As the chorus ended, Luna spun around and faced Youngji, raising an eyebrow in mock challenge. “Happy now?”
Youngji, now standing on her seat, clapping like an excited seal, nodded furiously. “Bravo! Bravo!” she shouted, her hands slapping together in rapid succession. “You nailed it, girl! I knew it!”
Luna, unable to contain her amusement, doubled over in laughter at the sight of Youngji standing on her chair, her face red with intoxicated excitement. “This is… you’re too much,” Luna giggled, shaking her head as the crew continued to cheer her on.
Youngji, still clapping and bouncing slightly on her chair, repeated, “Bravo!” in a slurred voice, clearly having the time of her life as Luna continued to laugh at the ridiculous scene unfolding before her.
Youngji, still high from the energy of Luna’s previous performance, wasn’t ready to let her off the hook. “Okay, okay, but now,” she slurred, eyes gleaming with excitement, “you gotta do your smirking, flirty face. You know the one I’m talking about!” She attempted a seductive smirk herself but ended up giggling at her own drunken attempt.
Luna was still laughing from Youngji’s dramatic cheering, but she played along. “Am I here to perform for you?” she teased, raising an eyebrow. “Should I play ‘HOT’ then? I feel like that’s the right vibe.”
Youngji’s reaction was immediate. She threw her hands up in the air, nearly tipping over on her chair. “Yes! ‘HOT’! Play it! That’s perfect!” she slurred with an exaggerated nod, her eyes wide with excitement.
With a cool, playful grin, Luna nodded and began scrolling through her playlist again, quickly finding the song. She placed her phone back into the makeshift glass speaker, the familiar intro of their song ‘HOT’ filling the room.
As the beat thumped through the small space, Luna shuffled back to the tiny open area, preparing herself. She glanced at Youngji, who was practically bouncing on top of her seat with anticipation. The chorus was nearing, and Luna’s demeanor shifted. Her playful expression turned more intense, eyes narrowing slightly as a slow, confident smirk spread across her lips.
Then, the chorus hit, and Luna moved effortlessly into the choreography of ‘HOT’, her body swaying with purpose. This time, instead of the playful cuteness, she exuded pure confidence, every movement sharp and deliberate. Her eyes locked with the camera, and there it was— that signature smirk that had fans going wild during SEVENTEEN’s performances. It was flirtatious and cool as if she knew exactly the effect she was having on anyone watching.
Youngji’s cheers grew louder. “Yes, Luna! That’s it! Work it! Girl crush, girl crush!” she yelled, practically shaking the chair as she stood on it, barely keeping her balance.
The crew joined in, clapping along and hyping Luna up as she danced, her expression never faltering from that seductive smirk.
Luna gave it her all, despite the limited space, the teasing expressions adding to the sultry energy of the song. Her hands moved in sync with the choreography, her movements fluid, and her eyes held that playful glint throughout the performance. It was as if she was commanding the entire room with just a look.
As the chorus came to a close, Luna slowed her movements, landing in a final pose with a flick of her hair and a wink at the camera, her smirk still intact. She let the last beat of the chorus fade out before straightening up, her cool expression breaking into a wide grin.
The room exploded in applause. Youngji, completely losing it, began clapping like a seal again, still standing on her chair, swaying dangerously. “Girl crush! You’re my girl crush!” she screamed, her voice cracking but filled with affection. “You’re so cool! How are you so cool? I’m in love!”
Luna, laughing at Youngji’s loud declaration, waved her hands in mock modesty. “Alright, alright, calm down!” she teased, unable to stop grinning at Youngji’s over-the-top reaction.
Youngji wasn’t having it though. She threw her hands up again, this time almost losing her balance. “No, seriously! You’re my girl crush! That was so hot!”
Luna could only laugh harder, holding her stomach as the crew joined in on the fun, clapping and cheering in agreement with Youngji. It was clear that the mood in the room was infectious, the playful energy carrying them through the rest of the night.
Luna slumped back into her seat, dramatically wiping her forehead with the back of her hand. “Okay, enough dancing,” she mock-panted, shooting Youngji a playful look. “I swear, one more move and I might black out.”
Youngji was still laughing and clapping like an overexcited fan, her voice slurring as she said, “Nooo, I can’t help it! I have a crush on you!” She repeated it, slurring the words, “I have a crush on Luna!” with the goofiest grin.
Luna giggled at her new friend’s antics before deadpanning, “Youngji… are you okay?” She raised an eyebrow, watching Youngji as she struggled to pour them another shot without spilling the soju. “You need to stop drinking,” Luna teased but held out her glass anyway, accepting the next round.
They clinked their glasses together with a loud clank, and both of them downed the shot. Youngji, eyes now heavy but still bright with mischief, turned to her and slurred, “Are you still okay, my crush?”
Luna tilted her head and took the shot with no reaction, her face entirely calm. “I’m almost there,” she said smoothly. “Tipsy, but still here.” She couldn’t help but laugh afterward, leaning forward slightly, “So, ‘my crush,’ huh? Is that what you’re calling me now?”
Youngji nodded furiously, her words tumbling out incoherently. “Yes, yes! My crush! You’re so cool, like— so cool.” Her eyes sparkled with admiration, the alcohol amplifying every bit of sincerity in her voice.
Luna chuckled, shaking her head at the adorable mess in front of her. “Okay, okay, your crush,” she played along, her tone light and teasing.
But Youngji wasn’t done. She wiped at her eyes dramatically, looking as serious as she could muster under her drunken haze. “I like people with duality, you know? People who can be both cute and sexy. Do you— do you have a celebrity crush?” She leaned in, her interest suddenly piqued.
Luna shook her head, still smiling. “Not really into real people like that. Honestly,” she answered, “most of my crushes have been on fictional characters from movies, shows, or books.” She laughed softly, remembering her own obsessions.
Youngji’s eyes widened, and then, as if she had just recalled something groundbreaking, she clapped her hands together loudly, nearly knocking her shot glass over. “Wait! I heard you have the biggest crush on Loki from Marvel!”
Luna couldn’t help but burst into laughter, clapping her hands in sync with Youngji’s excitement. She leaned back into her seat, covering her mouth as her shoulders shook with laughter. “Oh my god, yes,” she admitted through giggles. “Loki is… well, who doesn’t have a crush on him?”
Youngji, clearly invested now, leaned forward, eyes wide with curiosity. “Wait, wait, hold on,” she bombarded Luna, her words slightly slurred but enthusiastic. “What do you like about him? He’s handsome, sure, but he’s the bad guy, right? Is that your type?” Her voice rose playfully, her brows wiggling mischievously as if she’d uncovered something scandalous.
Luna chuckled, shaking her head at the accusation, her smile widening as the conversation shifted into familiar territory. “I mean I don’t have a specific type. Yeah, he’s handsome, and yeah, he’s the bad guy— kind of.” She began slowly, her voice steady but carrying more energy than it had earlier, an unmistakable sign that the alcohol was loosening her up more than she realized. “But that’s not why I like him.”
She straightened in her seat, her hands animated now as she started explaining, the words pouring out faster as she became more passionate about her topic. “It’s not just about him being a bad guy, you know? It’s his personality— he has this… this charm,” she said, her eyes lighting up. “He’s got this dry sense of humor that makes you laugh even when you don’t expect it. And the way he’s confident, but not in an obnoxious way. It’s more subtle like he knows he’s smart and capable, but he doesn’t need to prove it all the time.”
Youngji, who had been hanging onto every word, nodded in agreement, though clearly a little lost in the rapid-fire speech. “Hmm, that makes sense… but he still likes to cause trouble, right? Mischief? Isn’t that a big part of it?”
Luna grinned, leaning in a little as if sharing a secret. “Exactly! He’s mischievous,” she repeated with emphasis, her eyes glinting with something more. “But it’s not just for the sake of it— there’s always something deeper, something clever behind it. He’s always ten steps ahead, and that’s what makes him so interesting.” She paused for a beat, her mind briefly wandering, before she added with a softer, almost playful smile, “I guess I’ve always been drawn to that kind of personality… intelligent and calculated guys are very attractive to me.”
As Luna spoke, she unconsciously revealed more than she intended. Her words, though directed at Loki, seemed to resonate with something— or rather, someone— else entirely.
The qualities she was describing weren’t just about a fictional character; they mirrored those of her boyfriend, Jeonghan, with startling accuracy. He, too, had that sly, playful nature, that effortless confidence that both infuriated and charmed everyone around him.
Youngji, perhaps too tipsy to pick up on the underlying hints, nodded along, her chin resting on her hand as she gazed at Luna with fascination. “You’re really passionate about this,” she slurred, blinking slowly. “I get it, though. Mischievous guys… they keep things exciting, huh?”
Luna laughed softly, her cheeks slightly flushed from both the alcohol and the direction of the conversation. “Yeah, they do,” she admitted, a knowing glint in her eye. “It’s fun. You never quite know what’s coming, but it’s always worth it in the end.”
Youngji slapped her hand on the table suddenly, making Luna jump a little. “I knew it!” she declared, pointing at Luna dramatically. “You do have a type! Mischievous, funny, smart— Loki-type!” She was laughing now, clearly enjoying her discovery, even though she wasn’t aware of just how on-the-nose her comment really was.
Luna, unable to hold back her laughter, nodded in playful surrender. “Okay, maybe I do,” she said, her voice light, though there was a warmth behind it that hinted at something deeper— something personal.
Youngji, still clearly invested in Luna’s rant about Loki, tilted her head in thought, a playful glint in her eye. “Wait, so… do you like guys with long hair too? You know, since Loki’s rocking that,” she asked, her voice teasing as her words slurred slightly. She wiggled her fingers dramatically in the air, mimicking Loki’s flowing locks as if she’d stumbled onto another part of Luna’s type.
Luna, catching on to where Youngji was going with this, chuckled and shook her head, but there was a playful gleam in her eyes. “I don’t really have a preference when it comes to looks,” she replied thoughtfully, her words slower as if she was choosing them carefully, though the slight smile on her lips suggested otherwise. “Long hair, short hair— it doesn’t really matter to me.”
There was a brief pause as Luna took another bite of her food, but then she added, “But… if he can pull off both, then that’s even better.” She let out a quiet laugh, raising an eyebrow as if she were sharing a secret. “Though, I might be biased toward long hair. Just a little.”
Youngji’s eyes widened dramatically, and she shot up from her seat, clapping loudly as if she had just uncovered the greatest revelation. “Aha! I knew it!” she slurred, pointing at Luna as if she had caught her red-handed. “You say you don’t have a type, but you do! Mischievous, smart guys with long hair!” Her voice was loud and excited, the alcohol clearly making her voice louder than she intended.
Luna threw herself back in her chair, laughing uncontrollably at Youngji’s dramatic outburst. “What are you talking about?” she managed to say between fits of laughter, waving her hands as if to defend herself. “I never said that!”
But Youngji wasn’t having it.
“Ya! Luna you can’t fool me,” Youngji slurred then she turned toward the camera, still pointing at Luna with a wobbly finger. “You heard it here first, everyone!” she announced, her words slurring even more. “Luna likes mischievous, intelligent guys who can rock both short and long hair… but especially long!”
Luna, still cackling in the background, waved her hands in surrender. “I didn’t say that!” she protested, though her laughter betrayed her.
It was obvious to both of them and probably everyone watching, that she wasn’t exactly disagreeing with the assessment.
Youngji, proud of her deduction, grinned ear to ear and sat back down, clearly satisfied with herself. “I knew it,” she repeated, nodding sagely as if she had just solved a mystery.
Just as Youngji settled back, still grinning from her triumphant deduction, Luna’s phone dinged from its place in the glass, the sound echoing in the small room. The noise caught their attention immediately, both sets of eyes snapping toward the device as if fate itself had decided to weigh in on the conversation.
Luna’s phone screen lit up, casting a soft glow through the glass. Only she and Youngji could see the notification, and as Luna lifted her phone slightly to check, she froze for a second.
The screen displayed a single message— from Jeonghan. And there, beneath his name, was the very same Jeonghan’s face grinning lazily back at them, clear as day on her wallpaper.
Youngji’s tipsy eyes widened at the sight, and though her speech was still slurred from the alcohol, her voice carried a teasing lilt as she blurted, “See? I knew it.”
Luna burst into laughter, throwing herself against Youngji’s shoulder as if to beg her to stop from being too obvious, her whole body shaking with mirth. But the playful exchange only fueled Youngji more. She raised her hands in mock innocence, trying to cover for Luna in the most transparent way possible.
“I knew it!” Youngji repeated, but then quickly amended herself, glancing mischievously around the room. “I mean, come on, one of your members was bound to check in on you at some point, right?” She added a little wink, though her teasing tone couldn’t have been more blatant.
Luna, still caught in a fit of giggles, sat up a bit, trying to compose herself. She could only shake her head as she looked down at the message, her cheeks flushed both from laughter and the alcohol.
The moment was filled with shared glances and inside jokes, one of those times when words weren’t necessary to convey understanding. Even though Luna and Jeonghan’s relationship was a secret from the public, Youngji’s playful cover was enough to keep things lighthearted, avoiding too much attention while still teasing Luna about the not-so-hidden truth.
Youngji, still half-smirking, decided to play innocent as she leaned in closer, feigning curiosity. “So… who texted you?” she asked, dragging out the question as if she hadn’t seen the name flash across the screen just moments before.
Luna was still recovering from her laughing fit, her entire body shaking as she clutched her stomach with one hand, the other wiping away the tears that had pooled in her eyes. Every time she tried to speak, another wave of giggles overtook her, leaving her gasping for air. The crew watched on with amusement, chuckling softly as they witnessed Luna’s complete surrender to the hilarity of the situation.
Youngji, however, put on her best serious face, her brow furrowing in exaggerated concern. “Luna are you okay?” she asked, her tone mockingly stern. She leaned forward slightly, her eyes widening as she studied Luna’s uncontrollable laughter. “You won’t stop laughing… I think you need to go home.”
The crew erupted into laughter at Youngji’s deadpan delivery, but Luna, still giggling, managed to shake her head, clutching her tummy as if trying to rein herself in. “I don’t want to go home!” she protested, taking a deep breath to calm down.
After a brief pause, she finally managed to answer Youngji’s earlier question, wiping the last of her tears from her eyes. “It’s Jeonghannie oppa,” she said, her voice still a little breathless from laughing so hard.
Youngji raised an eyebrow, her playful expression returning. “He knows you’re here filming, right?” she teased, still pretending to be oblivious. Then, with a mischievous grin, she added, “Do you want to share with the class what he said, or not?”
Luna, now calmer, picked up her phone from the glass. She opened the message and quickly scanned it before reading aloud, her tone light and casual. “He said, ‘Call me when you’re done and on the way here.’” She locked her phone again and set it aside, still smiling.
Youngji, slurring slightly from the alcohol, leaned in with mock curiosity. “Where are you going after this?” she asked, her head tilting slightly as if trying to unravel some great mystery.
Luna chuckled at her exaggerated tone. “I have practice after this,” she explained, still amused by Youngji’s playful interrogation. The casual exchange, despite its lightheartedness, held the warmth of friendship, each teasing comment laced with genuine affection.
Youngji suddenly perked up, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous spark. “I have an idea!” she exclaimed, a little louder than she intended, which made Luna jump slightly in her seat. “Text Jeonghan-ssi. Let’s prank him.”
Luna, clearly enjoying where this was headed, giggled in anticipation, her fingers already moving toward her phone. “What should I say?” she asked, the excitement in her voice palpable as she unlocked her phone. The atmosphere felt lighter now, the earlier tension of the drinks and deeper conversation melting into a more playful vibe.
“Tell him,” Youngji leaned closer as if they were conspiring, “that you can’t do this anymore.”
Luna’s eyes widened before she broke into another fit of laughter, covering her mouth as if trying to stifle it. “He’s not going to fall for that,” she said, though her hands were already typing out the exact message Youngji had suggested:
‘I can’t do this anymore.’
As she pressed send, Luna glanced at Youngji and said with a smirk, “Hannie oppa is too sharp for this. He won’t be easily fooled, h–”
But her playful assurance was cut short when, mid-sentence, the familiar ringtone of her phone echoed in the room, cutting through the conversation like a hot knife.
The room went still for a moment.
The crew gasped, some even giggling at the sudden shift, while Youngji, now fully invested in the chaos she’d started, shot up in her seat. “Oh my god! Girl, answer the phone!” she gasped, her eyes wild with amusement, leaning even closer toward Luna.
Luna blinked at her phone in disbelief, the name ‘my angel boy🪽’ lighting up her screen, the ringtone growing louder in the otherwise silent space. She looked at Youngji with wide eyes, her voice now a whisper, “What should I say?”
There was a tiny hint of panic behind her words, her excitement starting to mix with nervous energy.
Youngji, half-slurring, was all for the drama. “Tell him…” she paused for effect, her words dripping with amusement, “…tell him you couldn’t do this anymore because I was asking you weird questions!”
Luna hesitated, biting her lip in mild panic. “Youngji… you’re really… crazy,” she muttered, but before she could back out, she quickly hit the answer button, her voice coming out steadier than she felt.
Luna placed her phone on speaker, her fingers trembling slightly from the mixture of excitement and nerves. Before she could even get a word out, Jeonghan’s deep, yet soft voice filled the room, echoing through the small space.
“What are you talking about?” he asked, his tone gentle but with a hint of concern.
Luna, knowing Jeonghan so well after all these years, immediately understood the shift.
His voice was usually so bright and sing-song, always answering the phone with an upbeat tone that instantly lifted her spirits. But now, his seriousness threw her off, and she winced, shooting Youngji and the crew a pained look.
Youngji, though, was undeterred, grinning like the devil on her shoulder and silently urging her to keep going.
“O-oppa…” Luna started, trying her best to sound sad, though her voice trembled with the urge to burst into laughter.
Jeonghan hummed on the other end of the line, a soft noise that nudged her to continue.
“I just finished the interview,” she added, her tone still shaky.
Another hum from Jeonghan, quiet and calm.
“She was asking weird questions,” Luna said, attempting a sad sigh but immediately covering her mouth to stop herself from laughing.
There was a beat of silence from Jeonghan’s side.
The kind of silence that made everyone in the room freeze for a moment.
Luna could feel the intensity of it, like he was trying to process her words while keeping his composure.
Then, finally, his voice came through again, still soft but now with an underlying sharpness that made both Luna and Youngji cringe.
“What questions?” he asked, his voice careful, as though he was trying not to jump to conclusions too quickly, but the edge was unmistakable.
Youngji, who had been grinning from ear to ear, suddenly stood up from her seat, backing herself playfully against the wall as if trying to escape Jeonghan’s indirect scolding.
Luna, on the other hand, was struggling, tears forming in her eyes as she stretched her arm out, holding the phone away from her mouth in a desperate attempt to hold back her laughter.
“Jiyeon-ah,” Jeonghan’s voice came again, firmer this time. “What questions?”
Luna smiled through the fear knowing how rare Jeonghan called her by her real name, but she stopped herself just before answering, her acting skills being tested more than ever. She sighed dramatically, leaning into the role. “Just…”
Before she could even finish, Jeonghan’s voice cut her off, his words making Luna cringe hard.
“Do you want me to tell Seungcheol?” he asked, the mention of their leader’s name hitting like a warning shot.
Luna’s entire body tensed at that.
She knew Seungcheol, would absolutely flip if he thought Luna was upset about something serious.
Youngji, still up against the wall, shook her head frantically at Luna, playfully waving goodbye at the camera as if she was terrified of the situation she’d created. Luna gestured for her to come back, laughing even as she tried to keep up the charade.
“No!” Luna quickly blurted out, cringing at the thought of Seungcheol getting involved. “No, I’m on the way back anyway— I’ll talk to Coupsie.”
There was another long pause.
Luna could practically hear Jeonghan processing her words.
Then, finally, his voice echoed through the phone again, calmer, but still holding that careful tone.
“You’re on the way back?” he asked.
“Yes, I just finished,” Luna answered, keeping her voice steady, though she could feel the tension building.
Another pause.
“You finished the interview and you’re on your way back?” Jeonghan repeated as if summarizing everything she’d said.
Luna blinked, her smile twitching. “Yes, why?”
There was a longer silence this time.
Everyone in the room was holding their breath, waiting for his next words.
Then, in a tone that was now playfully amused, Jeonghan finally spoke again.
“Out of all the people you could prank, you decided to prank me?”
Luna burst out laughing, the tension finally breaking as the entire room seemed to release a collective gasp.
Youngji was staring at her in disbelief, her mouth slightly open as she looked around at the crew. “How did he find out?” she asked, more to herself than anyone else.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” Luna giggled, covering her face with her hands as she tried to apologize. “Youngji made me do it!”
From the phone, Jeonghan simply went, “Ah.” His voice, now fully relaxed, was teasingly amused.
Youngji, still shocked, stuttered shyly, “J-Jeonghan-ssi, hello.”
“Oh, hello, Youngji-ssi,” Jeonghan replied smoothly, his voice as polite and soft as ever.
Luna, still laughing, finally asked the question on everyone’s mind. “How did you know I was joking?”
Jeonghan chuckled softly, then explained, “I didn’t know at first. But when you said you finished the interview, something felt off.” He paused, then continued, “You’re the type of person who would just end the interview yourself if you were uncomfortable or disrespected by the questions. You wouldn’t wait to finish.”
Luna smiled, understanding exactly what he meant.
She had always been one to speak her mind and walk away from anything she wasn’t comfortable with.
“And,” Jeonghan added, his voice even more teasing now, “I could hear you smiling while you spoke.”
Luna shook her head, chuckling again. “I told you he wouldn’t fall for it,” she said, turning to Youngji, who just sat there, still in disbelief at how quickly Jeonghan had caught on.
Youngji slumped back into her seat, still stunned, as Luna’s laughter echoed in the room.
Luna, her laughter finally dying down, looked at her phone and said, “Well, since you’re here, oppa, you should say hi to everyone!” She grinned, turning her phone slightly toward the camera, giving Jeonghan a moment to address the viewers.
On cue, Jeonghan’s deep but soothing voice echoed through the room again, still as smooth and soft as ever. “Hello, everyone,” he greeted, his tone polite but with a touch of playful charm. “I hope you’re all doing well. Please continue to take care of Luna while she’s with you today.”
The staff, who had been quietly watching the whole thing unfold, burst into a chorus of hellos and some gave friendly waves toward the phone as if Jeonghan could see them.
Before he could say anything more, Luna, clearly not wanting to give him another second of control over the conversation, interrupted him with a sudden outburst. “Han! It’s so much fun here with Youngji!” she began, her voice rising with excitement, “You should be here too!”
Jeonghan let out a low chuckle on the other end, but before he could respond, Youngji leaned into the frame with a wide grin. “He really should come next time! We’ll do a special episode— Luna and Jeonghan together!”
“Alright, I’ll keep that in mind,” Jeonghan replied, his voice smooth but with a hint of amusement.
Luna straightened in her seat, her enthusiasm bubbling over. “No, really! You’d love it! Youngji keeps making me laugh, and we’ve been talking about everything— drinks, games, she even made me dance!” She started listing everything off with the same excitement, her voice taking on a childlike tone as she gushed. “And the crew here is so nice! We’ve been playing games, and Youngji asked me so many fun questions— she’s so funny!”
Jeonghan hummed softly in response, the sound was warm and full of affection. “Mm, that sounds like a lot of fun,” he cooed in his signature lazy drawl. “I’m glad you’re having a good time, Nana-ya.”
Luna, encouraged by his response, continued to ramble on, her words spilling out faster now. “And—and you should’ve seen when we started— Youngji made me drink gin and she gave me a lot of food, and we even—” She paused, catching herself, then giggled, clearly realizing she was talking a mile a minute.
Youngji, who had been watching with amusement, leaned toward the camera and whispered to the crew, “This is the most Luna’s spoken today.” The crew chuckled along, nodding in agreement.
Jeonghan, ever the doting boyfriend, was patient and gentle, humming softly every now and then to let her know he was listening. “Ah, really?” he said, his voice carrying that familiar, affectionate tone he used with her. “Sounds like you’re having a blast, hmm?”
Luna, her face glowing with excitement, nodded eagerly, even though he couldn’t see her. “I am! I wish you were here! It’s so much fun! And Youngji said next time you can come, and maybe we’ll—”
Jeonghan let out a small, amused laugh, cutting her off gently, “You drank a lot, huh?”
Luna immediately pouted, shaking her head even though Jeonghan couldn’t see her expression. “No, I didn’t! I didn’t drink that much! Only a little…”
Jeonghan chuckled again, this time more indulgently, his tone almost teasing. “Mm, alright. You just spoke a thousand words in one breath, Nana-ya. I think you definitely drank more than a little.”
Luna gasped, mock offended, before laughing again, unable to keep up the act. Youngji and the crew, meanwhile, were in stitches, watching the entire exchange unfold like something out of a rom-com.
Youngji, still giggling, waved toward the camera again. “Jeonghan-ssi, I promise we didn’t force her to drink that much!”
“Oh, I believe you,” Jeonghan replied smoothly, his voice still light with humor. “But Jiyeonie’s not exactly the best at hiding when she’s had a few, is she?”
Luna pouted once more, slumping in her seat. “Oppa!” she whined softly, her tone almost playful as she drew out the syllables.
Jeonghan hummed again, his voice turning soft and doting once more. “It’s okay, I’m just teasing you,” he cooed, that familiar sing-song lilt back in his voice. “I’m glad you’re having fun, really.”
Luna smiled, her heart fluttering at the sound of his voice. No matter how often he teased her, she knew it was always out of love.
Youngji, catching her soft expression, leaned toward the camera with a knowing grin. “See? This is why I said you should prank him. Look how sweet he is.”
Luna nodded, biting her lip to keep from giggling again. She knew Jeonghan wouldn’t stay mad for long, especially when he could tell she was having a good time.
Luna smiled as the laughter in the room finally died down, her fingers fiddling with the edge of her phone. “Okay, Hannie, I’m gonna go now,” she said softly, her voice still carrying traces of the playful energy from moments before.
Jeonghan hummed on the other end, his tone gentle and affectionate. “Mm, okay. Take care, See you later, Jiyeonie.”
Luna’s heart swelled at the warmth in his voice. “You too, oppa. Practice well, okay?”
“I will. I’ll see you soon,” he replied, his voice a low murmur, almost like a promise.
With a soft smile, Luna nodded to herself. “Bye-bye.”
“Bye, Nana-ya.”
She ended the call, placing the phone gently on the table, but before she could even relax into her seat, her phone lit up again.
A notification popped up at the top of the screen— a text from Jeonghan: ‘Drink water and eat more.’
Luna chuckled, already feeling the warmth of his concern, but before she could even react, Youngji jumped up from her seat, immediately fussing over her. “Aigoo, see! You better listen to him!” she slurred, her movements exaggerated as she grabbed the nearby pitcher of water and began pouring it into Luna’s glass. “You need to eat more too!” she added, piling more food onto Luna’s plate, her eyes wide as if the message from Jeonghan had ignited some maternal instinct in her.
Luna giggled, watching Youngji in amusement as she responded to Jeonghan’s message with a quick, ‘Yes, I’ll eat. Don’t worry 🤍’
Then, she obediently picked up her fork and took a bite of the food, earning a satisfied nod from Youngji, who had taken on the role of Luna’s makeshift caretaker.
Youngji, a bit tipsy and swaying slightly, leaned closer, her words slightly slurred but full of sincerity. “You’re so lucky… He’s really worried about you, huh?”
Luna smiled as she chewed, swallowing before replying. “Well… it’s not just him. The members, especially Jeonghannie and Coupsie oppa, always make sure I’m okay when we’re drinking— especially today.”
Youngji raised a curious eyebrow at that, her tipsy brain trying to keep up with Luna’s words. “Why? What happened?”
Luna let out a soft laugh, realizing Youngji might not remember the story. “It’s because they don’t want another Hoshi incident.”
Youngji blinked, clearly confused. “Hoshi incident?”
Luna nodded, already knowing the moment she mentioned it, the memory would click. “You know, when Hoshi-oppa was here, he got really drunk, right? Well, that same day, we had practice. So, Hoshi showed up to the practice room completely wasted but was still trying to practice like it was nothing.”
Youngji’s mouth fell open in disbelief, and she let out a surprised laugh. “No way!”
Luna grinned, nodding. “Yep. And Jeonghannie oppa filmed the whole thing! There’s a video of drunk Hoshi oppa still trying to do the choreo.” Luna tilted her head and asked, “Did you see the video?”
Youngji’s eyes widened in sudden realization, and she nodded vigorously. “Ohhh! I remember now! I saw that video! Poor guy — I felt so bad but he looked cool, he can dance better drunk than I do sober!”
Luna laughed at Youngji’s dramatic retelling, but before she could say anything else, Youngji waved her hand in front of her, acting like a strict mother. “See, this is why you should go home now,” she said, her voice half-serious, half-teasing, as if she was trying to play both roles of the concerned friend and the playful show host.
Luna couldn’t help but laugh at her antics, the warmth of the moment filling her chest. The combination of Youngji’s tipsy fussing and Jeonghan’s constant concern made her feel wrapped in a bubble of affection— a place where she was cared for in every little way.
With a playful sigh, Luna shook her head. “I don’t want to leave. I’ll eat, I promise.”
“Go home, Luna,” Youngji groaned dramatically, her voice dripping with exaggerated exhaustion, making Luna giggle. The crew burst into laughter at the ongoing playful banter between the two of them, while Luna took another bite of food, ignoring the command.
Luna, cheeks flushed from the alcohol, pouted cutely. “But I don’t want to go!” she whined, her voice slurred slightly as she waved her chopsticks in the air. “I’m having so much fun!”
Youngji, not one to back down, leaned forward and pointed at Luna with mock sternness. “You still have dance practice, Jiyeon-ah! Your members will get mad at me if I let you drink more.”
Luna’s pout deepened as she huffed, rolling her eyes. “They won’t get mad. I’ll just… be a little late,” she slurred, her words drawing out lazily as she reached for more food.
Youngji smirked, shaking her head. “A little late? Girl, do you want me to get in trouble with SEVENTEEN?” She pointed a finger at herself before adding with a mock-terrified look, “That’s two out of fourteen members showing up drunk at their dance practice because of me. S.Coups-ssi might hunt me down.”
The crew burst into laughter again, and Luna, in her slightly tipsy state, let out a high-pitched giggle. “Coupsie oppa would never!” she laughed, covering her mouth with her hand, eyes sparkling with amusement.
“Oh, wouldn’t he?” Youngji teased, her face pulling into a playful grimace as she imitated Seungcheol’s authoritative tone. “I can already hear him— ‘Youngji-ssi, what did you do to Luna?!’”
Luna burst out laughing, swaying slightly as she covered her face with her hands. “Stop, stop!” she giggled, cheeks turning even redder. “He’s not like that… Well, not all the time.”
Youngji shook her head knowingly. “Yeah, right. He’s the leader for a reason. Do you really think he’s going to let this slide?” She crossed her arms, giving Luna a playful yet stern look.
Luna slumped in her seat, her pout returning. “I don’t want to go back,” she mumbled under her breath, acting like a child avoiding bedtime. “It’s too much fun here.”
Youngji let out a deep, exaggerated sigh, shaking her head as if defeated. “Aigoo, this girl,” she muttered. “Your members are going to come for me, I just know it.”
Luna giggled softly after finishing her last bite, wiping her lips with the napkin. She looked at Youngji with a small smile, almost sheepishly. “Alright, alright, I’ll go,” she said with a laugh, realizing that, if she didn’t leave soon, she’d be late for practice for sure.
One of the crew members approached Luna with a grin, holding out a marker and a blank piece of paper. “Luna, can you sign this for us? It’s for the wall— we have all of Youngji’s guests sign it.”
Luna beamed, taking the marker and paper eagerly. “Of course!” She placed the paper on the table, leaning over as she started writing her message. She spoke out loud as she scrawled her words in neat, bold handwriting. “Youngji, you’re the best… from your best friend Luna.”
Youngji, watching over her shoulder, cackled at the message. “Your best friend, huh? I’ve officially been promoted. I’ll take it!”
Luna chuckled, finishing her signature with a small flourish. She handed the paper to Youngji, who took it with a grin. “Aww, look at that!” Youngji teased, waving the paper for the camera. “Everyone, look! Luna thinks I’m the best.”
Luna laughed again, watching as Youngji stood up from her seat, making her way to the wall of signatures. She carefully stuck Luna’s paper up alongside the others, smoothing it out to make sure it was centered. “There you go, you’re officially a part of the wall now,” Youngji said, taking a step back to admire the wall.
“We should take a picture to commemorate this,” Youngji added, turning toward Luna with a playful grin.
Luna nodded, feeling a bit lighter from the drinks but still excited. “Yes, let’s do it.”
One of the staff members quickly grabbed a phone, and Luna and Youngji struck a pose, arms wrapped around each other’s shoulders. Youngji held up a peace sign, while Luna tilted her head to rest against Youngji’s with a bright, tipsy smile. The camera clicked, capturing the moment, and the staff clapped in appreciation of the scene.
As they pulled away from the photo, Luna turned to Youngji with a soft smile. “I had so much fun today,” she said sincerely, her eyes crinkling in the corners.
Youngji grinned, her tone just as warm. “Me too. We should do this again sometime. Maybe next time, I’ll drink more and you can take care of me.”
Luna laughed, nodding. “Deal! I’m looking forward to it.”
With that, they shared a tight hug, Youngji squeezing Luna with a fond chuckle. Luna pulled back slightly, her expression playful as she planted a quick kiss on Youngji’s cheek. “Thank you for having me,” Luna said, bowing her head in gratitude.
Youngji deadpanned, touching her cheek dramatically. “You better go before I steal you from your members and keep you to myself,” she joked, making the staff and crew burst out laughing.
Luna laughed along, turning towards the door, waving and bowing at the crew. “Thank you, everyone! Bye-bye!” she called out, flashing a smile to the camera before making her way out.
The door closed behind her softly, leaving the room filled with the lingering energy of her presence.
In the last moments, the staff and Youngji exchanged looks, a warm laughter spreading around the room. “That was amazing,” Youngji mused, shaking her head with an affectionate smile.
The camera panned out, capturing the wall of signatures as it faded to black, Luna’s note standing proudly among the others, a lasting memory of her fun and lively presence.

A Duke's Promise

The Duke of Ravencourt was meant to be hers. Courted her with duty, danced with her out of tradition. But slowly—delicately—his eyes began to wander. To you.

A/n: This story began with one idea: what if Rafayel existed in a Regency world of whispered courtships, candlelit ballrooms, and dangerously improper strolls through the gardens? And then… well, then it became everything. The fan fluttered. The heart raced. The gloves came off. Literally.
If you love yearning, poetry, burning touches behind closed doors, and the kind of romance that leaves you sighing into your teacup—then I hope you enjoy every soft, scandalous step of this journey. Prepare for aching glances, stolen kisses, and perhaps a few gasps behind a fan. Because this is the Season, after all.
With all my heart, —Lex

Chapter 1
The manor had not known this much noise in years.
Maids fluttered between corridors like startled birds, arms burdened with ivory silk, pearl-dotted gloves, and lace-trimmed slippers. Somewhere in the east wing, a heated debate arose about whether the new French ribbon complemented or ruined the eldest daughter’s gown. In the drawing room, their mother fanned herself with a fluttering hand and sighed dramatically into the air, as if managing two debutantes had taken five years from her life already—and it was only the first day of the Season.
And you? You sat near the window, watching the grey spring clouds roll across the sky, utterly untouched by the chaos. Or at least pretending to be. Your reflection in the glass looked pale, thoughtful, expectant. As if even you weren’t quite sure what you were waiting for.
“Would it kill you to act excited?” came a voice behind you.
Your sister. Eleanora glided into view like a well-practiced scene in a stage play—tall, elegant, every curl in place. Her dress had already been fitted days ago. Pale rose, delicate embroidery, soft gold accents. The kind of debutante gown that said: look at me, then look again. Her confidence wasn’t arrogance. It was simply… inherited.
“I am excited,” you replied without looking at her, chin resting in your palm. “I’m vibrating with anticipation. Can’t you tell?”
She rolled her eyes and sank gracefully into the seat beside you. “Mother’s convinced I’ll receive a proposal by the second ball.”
You blinked slowly. “That’s optimistic.”
“She’s not wrong,” Eleanora said, half-smiling. “There’s already talk. Lady Whitcombe swears the Duke of Ravencourt will be at the Astor Ball. And he—well, you know how long the arrangement has been in place.”
Ah. Him. You’d heard the name whispered since you were old enough to understand what betrothal meant. Rafayel Vale, the future Duke of Ravencourt. Promised to your sister since they were both children, in one of those quiet family agreements made with wine glasses and sealed with handshakes and fortunes. You’d never seen him. Never met him. But you’d heard of him.
They said he rarely came to town. That he’d been abroad for years. That he was... peculiar. Brilliant, but peculiar. That he collected ancient art and turned down nearly every social invitation. That he had no interest in courtship, except the one already chosen for him.
Your sister’s.
“I wonder if he’s dreadfully boring,” you mused aloud.
Eleanora snorted. “He’s a duke, darling. I’d hardly be expected to love him. Only not embarrass myself at dinner.”
You turned to face her then. “Do you mind it?” you asked quietly. “That you’ve never met him. That it’s all been arranged.”
Her expression softened, then faltered. Just for a second.
“I mind being married off like a trinket. But… I also mind not having a choice,” she said. “And choices, these days, are only afforded to girls who marry well.”
A pause. “You’ll have more freedom, you know,” she added lightly. “You’re not promised to anyone.”
No. You weren’t. Not the eldest. Not the heir-maker. You were the afterthought in pearls. But freedom felt like such a fragile thing when it was wrapped in expectation and painted in powder and rouge.
There was a knock, then the door creaked open.
“The carriage is ready, Misses,” said a maid, curtseying low. “Your mother says the ball waits for no lady.”
Your sister rose in one graceful sweep. You followed, smoothing your skirts and forcing a smile. You did not know it then. Not as you stepped into the carriage, nor as the first ballroom doors opened before you. Not as your name was announced or champagne touched your lips.
But somewhere in the city, a man named Rafayel Vale had also dressed for the evening. And the Season had already begun.
The ballroom glittered like a dream dipped in gold. Chandeliers bloomed overhead, throwing crystals of light across silk gowns and polished floors. Laughter curled around the violins. Perfumed fans fluttered like butterfly wings. It was the first ball of the Season, and every eligible family in London had come to play their part.
Your mother had insisted on white for your debut—soft chiffon, pearl beading at the waist, sleeves just off the shoulder. You felt like a porcelain doll being paraded across a chessboard. But Eleanora? She was art. A single glance at her, and suitors flocked like moths to a flame. Her rose-colored gown shimmered with every turn. Her laughter fell in just the right places. She danced as if she’d been born to do it.
She probably had. You didn’t mind. Not really. You sipped at your champagne near the edge of the floor, nodding politely to a young gentleman who’d just tripped over his own shoes trying to reach her before the next waltz began.
“She’s rather enchanting, your sister,” came a voice beside you.
You turned. A tall, freckled young man smiled at you, slightly flushed with wine. “But I find myself curious about the other debutante at her side.”
Your brows lifted. “Curious, or drunk, My Lord?”
He laughed, unoffended. “Both, perhaps. May I have the next dance?”
You hesitated—then took his hand. The music rose, and so did you. You danced. Twice. Once with the freckled gentleman—Lord Daniel something—and again with a kind-eyed viscount who fumbled through small talk but smiled at your wit. You laughed. You curtseyed. You did everything you were meant to.
But it was impossible to ignore how the room revolved around Eleanora. She hadn’t left the floor. A new partner every song. An admiring audience wherever she paused. You caught glimpses of her between turns—her eyes sparkling, cheeks flushed, posture perfect. And then… a whisper.
“Did you see? Lord Ravencourt is here.”
The name slipped between fans like a secret.
“I thought he wouldn’t come.”
“He never does. But this Season—well, everyone knows why.”
“He’s to marry the Everleigh girl, isn’t he?”
“The older one, yes. They say it was arranged when they were five.”
“And is it true he—”
You turned too fast, looking for the voice, the source. But all you saw were swirling gowns and smiling mouths. No sign of him. Your heartbeat kicked just a little faster, for reasons you couldn't name. You’d heard the name all your life, but now… he was here. In this room. Breathing the same air. And yet—You couldn’t find him.
Eleanora laughed again, a musical sound that carried across the dance floor as she twirled in the arms of a dark-haired gentleman you didn’t recognize. Perhaps it was him. Perhaps not. You watched. And listened. But Rafayel Vale, Duke of Ravencourt, remained as elusive as his reputation. Just a name. Just a whisper. For now.
Another glass of champagne was placed in your hand—your third of the evening, perhaps fourth. The effervescence prickled pleasantly against your lips, the sweetness refreshing but not enough to cool the flush that had crept across your cheeks after so many turns about the ballroom.
You’d danced with no less than six gentlemen—each perfectly polite, each thoroughly forgettable.
“You dance with such elegance, Miss Everleigh,” said one. “Your sister is lucky to have you by her side,” said another. “Might I call on you this week?” asked a third.
You smiled, curtsied, responded with the appropriate level of civility. But your mind had long since drifted elsewhere—pulled by curiosity, by the weight of a name that kept brushing past your ear like a breeze you couldn’t quite catch.
Rafayel Vale. The Duke of Ravencourt. And still, no one pointed him out. No introductions. No dramatic arrival. You were beginning to suspect he hadn’t come at all—despite the whispers, despite the excitement that had rippled through the room like a pebble dropped into still water.
You were about to take your leave from the floor when you caught the flicker. A subtle shift. The orchestra hadn’t stopped. The conversations hadn’t paused. And yet— It was as if the air had gone still. You turned. There, just beyond the far end of the ballroom, near the top of the grand marble stairs, stood a man dressed in midnight black.
No one announced him. He didn’t need it. He stood with one hand loosely gloved, the other resting against the gold edge of the balustrade, and surveyed the ballroom below with the kind of expression that didn’t demand attention—but commanded it nonetheless.
He was beautiful in the way storms are beautiful—elegant, distant, dangerous. His hair was tied loosely at his nape, the soft wave of it brushing against the collar of his coat. His eyes, from what you could see across the distance, were sharp. Watchful. His jaw cut clean beneath the candlelight.
You didn’t need to ask who he was. You knew. The Duke of Ravencourt has arrived.
“Ah, there he is,” someone murmured near you, confirming it.
Your heart fluttered unexpectedly. He descended the stairs unhurriedly, greeted no one, and walked with the ease of someone completely uninterested in impressing. And yet, every head turned.
Even Eleanora’s. You watched her gaze snap upward, watched the moment his eyes met hers—just for a breath. Then, with unflinching grace, he crossed the ballroom and offered your sister a bow.
“Miss Everleigh.” His voice was low, velvet-draped steel. Refined. Controlled.
Your sister curtsied perfectly. “My Lord.”
And for the first time in your life, you stood mere feet away from the man who had, without even knowing it, been promised to your family since before you could spell his name. Rafayel Vale.
You didn’t speak. He didn’t look at you. But something inside you stirred—a thread pulled taut, a chord struck too suddenly. So this is the man my sister is to marry. So that was him. The man whose name had been sewn into the fabric of your family's future like gold thread. The Duke your mother spoke of in hushed tones. The one your sister had been destined for before she’d learned how to flirt or curtsy properly.
And yet, you didn’t linger on the sight. You watched long enough to see Eleanora extend her hand. Watched him take it with a bow too shallow to be entirely respectful, too intimate to be entirely proper. Interesting. But not your concern. So you turned away.
“Miss Everleigh.” You faced the gentleman with a smile just sharp enough to cut through the fog of champagne.
“Lord Renswick,” you greeted, dipping into a curtsey. “You’ve finally decided to brave the dance floor?”
He grinned sheepishly. “It’s hardly bravery when the reward is a turn with the loveliest debutante of the evening.”
You tilted your head. “Flattery, my Lord? We haven’t even danced yet.”
“I’m hoping to improve your opinion before I embarrass myself,” he said, offering his arm. “Shall we?”
You allowed him to lead you into the next waltz, your slippers barely whispering against the marble floor. You danced. And laughed. And when he stumbled, you teased. Another gentleman approached you before the music faded. Then another. The evening passed in a haze of pleasantries and compliments, silk gloves and careful steps, and smiles that never quite reached your eyes.
You were being seen. Not just as Eleanora’s sister—but as yourself. And still, somewhere behind the swirling figures and murmured invitations, you caught the occasional sound of his name.
“The Duke hasn’t danced with anyone else.” “He spent nearly the entire evening in conversation with her.” “They’re to be married before summer, I hear.”
You didn’t seek him out. But you noticed. He didn’t hover near the punch. He didn’t court attention. He simply existed, like a line drawn in darker ink than the rest of the room.
Eleanora had his company almost exclusively. They spoke often, heads bent slightly toward one another. She laughed in that polished way she’d perfected since finishing school. He only smiled once—or maybe you imagined it. He offered his hand to two other ladies for a dance. Out of courtesy, not interest. Both looked dazed when returned to their chaperones.
By the time the final waltz played, you found yourself near the windows again. A gentle breeze filtered through the open panes. The sky outside was deep and velvet blue, dotted with the promise of rain.
You pressed your fingertips to the glass, cooling your skin. Behind you, the ballroom glittered on. Your sister was still dancing. With him. So that is the man who will be her husband. You didn’t envy her. Not truly. He was distant, unreadable. A mystery, yes, but not yours to solve. You were only curious. Just a little.
The ride home was quiet at first. Outside the window, London twinkled beneath the night sky, gas lamps glowing like stars trapped in glass. The carriage wheels clattered softly over the cobblestones, a rhythmic lull that always came after a long night of dancing.
Inside, you sat across from your sister, your gloves resting delicately in your lap, your fan still tucked in your hand—more habit than necessity now.
Your mother sighed for the fifth time in ten minutes, fanning herself furiously though the carriage was hardly warm.
“Well, I’d say that was a successful beginning to the Season,” she declared. “Eleanora, darling, you were radiant. Simply radiant. And you, dearest,” she turned to you, “were charming. I heard Lord Pelham compliment your wit, you know. Wit, my love, not just your appearance. A rare thing.”
You offered a faint smile. “How generous of him.”
Eleanora chuckled softly, her face half-lit by the carriage lantern. She looked pleased—no, content. A strange softness in her expression, one you didn’t often see outside the confines of private moments like these.
“Six dances,” your mother continued. “Four requests for calling hours, and—oh! Did you see Lady Renswick watching your every move?”
“I did,” Eleanora murmured. “She nearly dropped her fan when the Duke took my hand.”
Your mother’s fan stopped mid-wave. Her expression turned reverent. “Ravencourt. Good heavens. I still can’t believe he came. I truly thought we’d have to drag him out of some crumbling estate by force.”
“He was...unexpected,” Eleanora admitted, her gaze turning briefly to the window. “Not at all what I imagined.”
You looked at her then. Not sharply, not with envy. Just with interest.
“What did you imagine?” you asked softly.
Eleanora tilted her head, thinking. “I suppose someone older. Colder. Not so… sharp. He doesn’t speak much, but when he does, it’s never empty.”
You hummed. “And?”
She smiled—small, knowing. “He watches everything.”
You raised a brow. “Even you?”
A shrug. “Especially me.”
Your mother gave a delicate gasp of delight and resumed fanning herself with renewed vigor. “Well, it’s settled then. We’ll expect him to call within the next two days. Perhaps earlier, given how much time he spent at your side.”
“I don’t think he’s the sort to follow expected schedules,” Eleanora said, almost absently.
You didn’t say it aloud, but you agreed with her. You leaned your head against the side of the carriage, watching the lantern light flicker over your gloves.
The Season had begun. Your sister’s future—the one stitched in gold and promise—was unfolding. And in the shadows of it… a man made of silence and storm had finally stepped into the light.
——
The garden smelled of lilacs and early rain. Sunlight spilled over the hedgerows in gold-tipped strokes, catching on the edges of your teacup as you sat beneath the shade of the wide ivory parasol. Bees hummed lazily between the roses. A soft breeze stirred the hem of your skirts, carrying with it the faintest echo of music from last night’s ball.
You swirled the honey into your tea absently, listening to the soft murmur of your sister and mother seated nearby. They were reading from The Society Pages, lips twitching with every name mentioned.
“Lord Eastmere danced four times with Lady Henrietta—that will certainly be remarked upon,” your mother sniffed.
“And here—‘Miss Eleanora Everleigh glowed in rose silk and grace, receiving the attention of none other than the elusive Duke of Ravencourt.’”
“They flatter,” Eleanora murmured, though her eyes gleamed over the rim of her teacup.
You didn’t comment. You let the sound of the page turning fade into birdsong and breeze. The first caller arrived before noon.
“Miss Everleigh,” the butler intoned with perfect composure. “Lord Renswick requests a moment of your time.”
You rose, smoothing the folds of your skirt, and offered a pleasant smile as the young Lord was shown into the garden.
He bowed. “Miss Everleigh. Might I say, the morning pales in comparison to your presence.”
You didn’t roll your eyes—though it was a near thing. “Good morning, my Lord. How kind of you to visit.”
He spoke of the ball. Of your dancing. Of how he hoped to see you again. You responded with grace, with interest even—but something inside you remained still. Unmoved. He wasn’t unpleasant. None of them were.
A second gentleman came not long after. Then a third in the late afternoon, with a bouquet of spring blooms and an awkward compliment about your voice. Each caller was welcomed, each given your attention, your politeness, your laughter in the right places. And yet…
With every charming smile and gloved hand pressed to yours, you found your thoughts drifting. To silence. To shadows. To eyes that hadn’t yet sought yours. By the time the sun began to lower, streaking the garden in amber light, the butler reappeared once more.
You glanced up, brushing a stray wisp of hair behind your ear. “Yes?”
He cleared his throat gently and bowed. “No further callers for the day, Miss.”
You nodded, not disappointed, not expectant—only thoughtful. “Thank you.”
You returned to your tea, now gone cool. Across from you, Eleanora had set aside her book and was absently turning the stem of a rose between her fingers.
“He hasn’t called,” she murmured.
You looked up. “The Duke?”
She nodded once. “Not that I expected him to arrive the next morning with a bouquet and a poem, but... he did say he’d be in town this week.”
You sipped your tea. “He doesn't seem the type to rush.”
“No,” she agreed. “He isn’t.” Her voice held no bitterness. Just observation. Eleanora didn’t chase affection—she expected it to arrive, eventually, on its own terms.
You glanced toward the garden gate. The warm breeze rustled the hedges, but no footsteps came. Still. It was early. Much too early to assume anything. By evening, the callers were gone. Your mother was content. Your sister, thoughtful. And you?
You were content to watch. To listen. To wait—not for him, but for the Season to unfold as it always did: slowly, elegantly, and with its own peculiar sense of order. If the Duke was to be part of your sister’s story, he would arrive in time. And if he didn’t? Well, that too, would be telling.
——
The gown was periwinkle this time, threaded with pale silver and pinned at the shoulders with clusters of tiny sapphires. You had said nothing when your maid fastened it, only watched your reflection in the mirror with mild detachment while she smoothed the folds. Your sister had gone through three dresses before settling on one.
“Do you think he’ll be there tonight?” she asked, not looking up as your mother arranged curls at the crown of her head.
You knew who she meant. “I imagine so,” you replied simply. “It is Lady Warwick’s ball.”
That was the third time she’d asked this week. He hadn’t called. Not once. Not even a letter. After all the glances, the evening spent in her company, the conversations in corners and near the card tables, the dance others noted… and still, nothing. The Ton had started to notice. Even the papers had commented on it, their tone careful, but curious.
Your mother tried to stay composed, but the tension in her voice betrayed her. “He’s a duke, darling. He’s dreadfully busy, I’m sure. Arrangements, estates, affairs of business—men like him do not spend their days penning sonnets and waiting in parlors.”
But it wasn’t poetry Eleanora wanted. It was certainty. And he, with all his poise and polish, had offered none.
Lady Warwick’s ballroom was suffused with gold light and the scent of blooming orange blossoms. The crowd was lively, the musicians sharp and practiced. By the time you arrived, the dancing had already begun.
You made your greetings. Smiled when expected. Allowed a young baron to compliment your hair. You even laughed once—genuinely, this time. Eleanora remained composed beside you. Her gown was elegant, her posture perfect. But you knew her well enough to see the flicker of restlessness in her eyes. Where is he?
You saw it the moment he stepped into the room. He was dressed in dark navy and silver this evening, a sapphire brooch pinned at his collar. He didn’t linger at the entrance. He didn’t pause for greetings. He moved straight through the ballroom, parting the crowd with nothing more than presence. And then, there he was. Standing in front of your sister.
“Miss Everleigh,” he said with a bow deeper than the one he’d offered last time. “I owe you an apology.”
Your sister turned. Blinked. “My Lord.”
He reached into his coat. From his gloved hand, he drew a small, velvet-wrapped box and placed it delicately in her palm.
“For my absence,” he said simply. “I assure you, it was not meant as discourtesy.”
You didn’t look away—but you didn’t move, either. A quiet statue at your sister’s side. Eleanora opened the box slowly. Inside was a brooch—silver filigree shaped like a crescent moon, a pale gemstone set in its center. Not extravagant. Not loud. But tasteful. Rare. Beautiful.
“You needn’t have,” she said, voice softer now.
“I did,” he replied. Then, “May I claim a dance, if you haven’t promised it?”
She hesitated—but only for a moment. “Of course.”
You stepped back as he offered his arm. She took it. They moved to the floor once more, the crowd subtly turning to watch. And you? You remained at the edge, untouched by the drama, your fingers gently clasped, your thoughts still clear.
He had returned. He had apologized. He had done what was expected. Nothing more. And yet, somewhere—deep in the space between music and silence—you felt the first ripple. Not interest. Just…a shift.
You didn’t watch them dance. Not because it hurt—it didn’t. Not because you were jealous—you weren’t. But because watching felt unnecessary. Predictable. Rafayel Vale had returned, and he’d returned to your sister’s side. As he was meant to. As he had been for years, in name if not affection. So you turned away. And smiled when another gentleman bowed before you.
“My lady,” came a smooth voice, warm like polished amber. “You’ve been standing far too long without a partner. Might I correct such a tragedy?”
You lifted your eyes. He was striking. Not in the brooding, storm-swept way the Duke was. No, this man wore charm like a perfectly tailored coat. Light brown hair, elegantly curled. A golden signet ring on his right hand. A smile that curled ever-so-slightly at the edge—like he knew something you didn’t. And his title?
“Lord Wessex,” he said with an elegant bow. “Second son of the Marquess of Clarendon. Though I’m told I’m the more tolerable of the two.”
Your brows lifted, amused. “You’ve quite the opinion of yourself.”
He grinned. “Only when justified. May I?”
You placed your gloved hand in his.
Lord Wessex was a skilled dancer. Not just in form, but in conversation. Where others had asked the same tired questions—What are your hobbies? Do you enjoy embroidery?—he inquired about the books you read. The places you wished to see. The way your eyes lit up when speaking of the sea, despite never having seen it.
He kept you laughing. Thinking. On your toes. And when he led you to the refreshments table, he didn’t hover or smother. He offered you a glass, nodded at your thanks, and kept the conversation moving like a current pulling you along.
“They speak of your sister and Ravencourt as though the match is already sealed,” he said at one point, gaze drifting toward the couple in question.
“It was arranged,” you replied lightly. “A long time ago.”
“Arranged,” he repeated. “That word always leaves such little room for choice, doesn’t it?”
You glanced at him. “You don’t believe in arrangement?”
“I believe in lightning strikes, not family bargains.”
You tilted your head, a little smile tugging at your mouth. “Then I suppose the Ton must frustrate you endlessly.”
He laughed. “You’ve no idea, Miss Everleigh.”
By the end of the evening, you’d danced with him twice more. Once by request. Once by invitation. Both times left your cheeks flushed and your thoughts pleasantly tangled.
And while your sister ended the night with the Duke beside her—the talk of the room once more—it wasn’t his presence that lingered on your skin as you stepped into the carriage. It was Lord Wessex’s voice in your ear, still echoing,
“Lightning strikes when you least expect it, Miss Everleigh. I do hope I’m standing close when it happens.”
——
The sun had barely settled above the rooftops when the butler arrived in the parlor, his expression neutral, but his voice carrying just enough weight to make the room pause.
“Lord Wessex and the Duke of Ravencourt have both requested to call this morning.”
Your mother nearly dropped her embroidery. Your sister froze, her teacup held midair.
You simply blinked. “Both?”
The butler inclined his head. “They await in the front drawing room, Miss.”
For a moment, no one moved. Then your mother clapped her hands together as if summoned by divine will.
“Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Eleanora, you look lovely. That gown is ideal. And you, dear—yes, you’ll stay. It would be rude not to.”
You almost laughed. Rude, of course.
The drawing room had been polished to near-blinding shine. Fresh flowers in the vases, just slightly overdone. The maids had barely finished arranging the tea service before the two men were escorted in.
Rafayel Vale entered with the same quiet command as he had at the ball. Dark coat, silver cufflinks, gloved hands behind his back. He bowed with effortless grace, and his gaze settled on Eleanora with a soft nod.
“Miss Everleigh,” he greeted. “Thank you for allowing me the visit.”
Eleanora curtsied, serene as ever. “You are most welcome, my Lord.”
And beside him—light, where Rafayel was shadow—stood Lord Wessex. Smiling, charming, a pale waistcoat and a sunlit presence. His gaze found you immediately.
“Miss Everleigh,” he said warmly. “I feared you might have forgotten me since last night.”
You raised a brow. “That would’ve been quite the feat, considering how many times you stepped on my slipper, my Lord.”
He grinned. “A bold accusation. Perhaps I should call more often to defend my honor.”
Tea was served. The Duke sat beside Eleanora. Their conversation was soft, low, and polite. Words about estates, travel, the architecture of Bath.
You and Lord Wessex? Laughter. Playful remarks. A small joke about your mother’s over-watered lilies. And a question about your favorite poet, which—unlike others—he actually listened to. He watched you speak with a kind of gentle interest that was easy to receive, easy to enjoy. The Duke, for his part, never once looked your way.
——
The party was held on the sprawling estate of Lord and Lady Pembroke, beneath cream-colored canopies and strings of flowers that fluttered like silk ribbons in the breeze. There were games set up on the lawn. Plates of sugared strawberries. Lemon water and delicate ices passed on silver trays. You walked beside Eleanora, both of you fresh-faced in pastels. She wore a lilac gown. You wore blue. And they were there. As they always seemed to be, now.
Rafayel Vale, tall and composed in a dark grey coat, standing close beside your sister beneath the shade of an old ash tree. Listening as she spoke. Offering a quiet smile when she made some soft remark. And across the lawn—your suitor. Lord Wessex, lounging like he belonged in every summer painting ever created. When he caught sight of you, his expression lit up immediately.
“Miss Everleigh,” he called, rising with one graceful movement. “You’ve saved me from the tortures of idle company. Walk with me?”
You glanced at your sister. She gave you the faintest nod. And so you did.
You walked the gardens with him, spoke of travel and philosophy and music you weren’t supposed to enjoy. He offered you a wildflower he plucked from the hedgerow. You laughed and told him it clashed terribly with your gloves.
And when you paused to rest beneath the roses, you found yourself glancing across the lawn. Rafayel was still there, standing just a few steps behind your sister now as she spoke to another couple. But his posture had shifted slightly.
His gaze was no longer on Eleanora. It was on you. Not direct. Not rude. But unmistakable. A flicker of awareness. A moment caught like a breath between pages. And then, as if realizing it himself, he looked away. Just as Lord Wessex turned to say something clever that made you laugh again.
The grand hall was glowing. Every window draped in silk, every chandelier lit to bursting. The air shimmered with perfume and warm anticipation. Music poured from the raised platform where a quartet played their first waltz of the evening.
You had barely stepped two feet beyond the threshold when he appeared.
“Miss Everleigh.” Lord Wessex. Handsomely turned out in dark green, his cravat pinned with a gold brooch shaped like a fox. His smile was brighter than the chandeliers. “I was hoping to steal your hand before some other poor soul got the chance.”
You lifted your chin. “You assume I’d say yes, my Lord.”
He bowed low. “I rely entirely on hope and your mercy.”
You let out a soft laugh—and extended your gloved hand. “Very well, Lord Wessex. Just this once.”
He looked triumphant. The dance was effortless. You moved together as if you’d done it a hundred times before. You knew he’d make a joke right before the turn. That he’d lean in slightly before the dip, just close enough to make your skin warm. But never improper. Never forward. He was a gentleman with a wild spark.
Afterwards, he offered his arm and guided you to the refreshment table, refusing to let a single foppish Lordling cut in. You spent the next hour beside him—talking, sipping chilled wine, laughing so hard once you had to hide your face behind your fan. He made it easy. He made you feel seen.
Across the ballroom, the Duke stood by Eleanora once more. They spoke in quiet tones. He escorted her to a dance. Then another—not hers, but another lady’s, whom he partnered with as expected. His face remained unreadable. His words careful.
But every time your laughter rang out or your gown brushed past the edge of the room, his eyes found you. Just for a second. A flick. A pause. A look. Not interest. Not longing. Not yet. But curiosity. Not because you demanded it. Not because you tried to steal it. Only because you were there—and something about you lingered, even when you were no longer in the room.
Lord Wessex offered you another dance before the night ended. And you accepted, with no hesitation. The Duke, for his part, asked none of you. But watched—just once more—as you danced away, your laughter drifting like perfume behind you.
——
The bell above the door gave a soft chime as you stepped inside. It was cooler here. Dimmer. The thick scent of paper and aged wood pressed gently around you like a familiar shawl. Shelves towered around you, heavy with worn spines and leather bindings. A world apart from ballrooms and fans and powdered smiles.
You pulled your gloves off delicately, tucking them beneath your arm as you wandered. Most ladies preferred the modiste. The milliner. Or the tea room on Hanover Street where the windows let in perfect sunlight. But here? Here, you could breathe.
You found yourself in the poetry section—of course. One gloved finger brushing the titles, searching for something half-remembered. Brow slightly furrowed. Alone with your thoughts. Until a soft shift of leather soles caught your ear. You turned, expecting a clerk. And froze.
He stood not three paces from you. Dressed in deep blue, no cravat, no gloves. Simpler than usual, though no less composed. The Duke. For a moment, neither of you spoke. The absurdity of it made your lips twitch—of all places. He regarded you with that same unreadable expression. As if trying to make sense of something.
“Miss Everleigh,” he said at last. Voice low. Measured. “This is… unexpected.”
You curtsied ever so slightly, regaining your composure. “My Lord. I might say the same.”
A pause. His gaze flicked briefly to the book in your hand—Keats, you realized. Then back to your face. “You favor poetry?”
“On quiet days,” you replied. “And rainy ones.”
Another pause. He nodded, almost to himself. “A fine choice.”
You waited, wondering if he would say more. He didn’t.
“And you, my Lord?” you asked, a touch of amusement laced through your words. “Are you here for poetry, or politics?”
His lips curved just slightly. “Neither. I prefer philosophy. Or… anything with weight.”
You arched a brow. “Is that so, my Lord?”
He looked at you for a long moment—still distant, but not unkind.
“I didn’t expect to find you here,” he said finally. “But I’m not displeased.”
Your heartbeat ticked once. Then twice.
“Nor am I, my Lord.” you said simply. “But I should let you return to your… weighty thoughts.”
He inclined his head. “And you to your verse.”
You curtsied, slight but proper. He bowed in return. No lingering glances. No breathless goodbyes. Just two names exchanged, two minds acknowledged. And a silence that somehow said more than the words themselves.
——
It was one of those warm spring afternoons where everything felt too golden. The garden terrace was filled with soft laughter and the rustle of silk skirts. Ladies fanned themselves under shade trees. Gentlemen clustered near the wine table, discussing horses, Parliament, and who had worn what at last Thursday’s dinner. You arrived beside your mother, your carriage late by fifteen minutes—one of the wheels had needed adjusting.
“Smile, darling,” your mother said as she adjusted your glove without asking. “Your sister may be absent, but you mustn’t let that reflect poorly on the family. A touch of color in your cheeks wouldn’t hurt either.”
You smiled. You nodded. You adjusted. Eleanora had woken feeling unwell—no fever, but pale and weak, and your mother would never allow a less-than-perfect appearance at a public affair.
“You’ll attend in her place,” she had said. “Just be seen, dearest. And speak kindly if anyone asks after her.”
So now you stood in her shadow—only without her beside you to cast it. You moved through conversation with practiced ease. Three ladies asked after your sister. One older gentleman mistakenly called you by her name. You corrected him gently, no sting in your voice.
And then you excused yourself, moving toward the edge of the terrace where the rose-covered trellis offered a moment of quiet. You were just reaching for a glass of water when a familiar voice drifted behind you.
“Miss Everleigh.” You turned. There he was. Rafayel Vale. Alone.
Not at your sister’s side. Not deep in conversation. Not scanning the crowd for another lady to dance with. He stood a respectful distance away, one hand loosely behind his back, the other holding a glass of white wine.
“Your Grace,” you greeted calmly, offering a curtsy. “I’m surprised to see you without company.”
His lips twitched. “It seems the pattern of surprises between us continues.”
A pause. His eyes studied your face—not in a way that lingered, but in a way that noticed. “Your sister is not attending?”
You shook your head. “She’s unwell, my Lord. Nothing serious, only a passing fatigue.”
“I’m sorry to hear it.” His voice was quiet. Smooth as ever. But beneath it—something unreadable. Again.
“I hope you don’t feel... obligated to entertain me in her absence, my Lord” you added, careful. Light.
“I don’t.” The reply came quicker than expected. Not curt. Just honest.
Your brows lifted, amused. “Then what brings you to my corner of the garden, my Lord?”
A pause.
“Curiosity, perhaps,” he said. Then added, almost like a confession, “...You have a talent for appearing where I least expect you.”
You blinked. And then—smiled. Just a little. “I assure you, my Lord. I don’t do it on purpose.”
“Pity,” he murmured. “It’s becoming a habit I rather look forward to.”
You didn’t answer. You didn’t need to. Because someone was calling your name—Lord Wessex, of course, waving from the edge of the terrace with that signature grin.
You turned back to the Duke. “If you’ll excuse me, my Lord”
He inclined his head. “Of course.”
You curtsied again. He bowed. And you walked away—toward the man who wanted you, and away from the one who had only just started to wonder if he should.
“Was that the Duke I saw you speaking with?” Lord Wessex asked, offering his arm as you returned to the center of the terrace.
“It was, my Lord.” you replied, fingers brushing the embroidered edge of his sleeve as you accepted.
“And how was His Grace this fine evening? Did he frown at you with poetic intensity?”
You smiled. “Polite. Curious, perhaps. But no frowning.”
He clicked his tongue, mock-disappointed. “How dull. I had hoped for at least a glower.”
You laughed, soft and warm, as he guided you toward a quieter corner of the garden path, where lanterns hung low and glowing between branches of wisteria. You walked in companionable silence for a moment. Then—
“You always find me,” you said lightly.
“I always look,” he said without hesitation. That stilled you—just a fraction. Not because it was dramatic. But because it was true.
The conversation drifted easily, like it always did. He asked about your favorite lines from the bookshop. You asked about his childhood summers spent on a windswept estate in Devon. He made you laugh with an imitation of a distant cousin who once proposed to a woman mid-faint.
It was easy, this thing between you. Not dull. Not predictable. But certain. And when he asked you for a dance under the stars, you said yes without thinking twice. You danced in the soft evening breeze, the music from the terrace drifting down like petals from above. His hand was steady. His eyes never left yours.
“You’re quiet tonight,” he murmured as you turned.
“Apologies, my Lord. I hadn’t realized.”
“Quieter than usual. Not unhappy, I hope?”
“No,” you said truthfully. “Just… present.”
He smiled at that. “Then I’ll consider myself fortunate.”
Somewhere on the terrace, the Duke danced with another lady. He did not fumble. He did not charm. He did not smile too wide or step too close. He was composed, as always. Fulfilling his role. Bowing when required. Saying the right words. But when your laughter drifted once more across the lawn, his eyes—just for a second—turned toward the sound. And lingered.

I woke during the hour of the wolf to a cold bed and the fire flickering out. I sigh and push the blankets off of me and go to try and revive the embers. The fire slowly comes back to life with a crackle and I kneel on the stone to hover my hands near the flame. After countless minutes I rise and take in the state of our chambers.
Empty wine glasses litter almost every surface and what’s left is covered by our clothes. I reach for the robe closest to me and wrap it around my body. I settle for mismatched slippers at this hour and pad over to the doors. I slowly crack it open and see our guard ever faithfully standing at attention.
“Where is Aegon?” I ask softly and the guard turns to me.
“I’m sorry, Your Grace. The King didn’t say.” the guards eyes look at me nervously and try to focus his attention anywhere else.
“Then I’ll find him myself.” I push the door the rest of the way open and click it shut behind me.
“My Queen-“ I raise my hand and wave him off as I start down the dark hallway.
I can’t stand when they use our new titles. I don’t feel like the Queen and I know Aegon shares my sentiments. The past fortnight after his coronation has been chaos and our mother offers us no comfort or guidance. They simply placed crowns on our head and continue to move us about as they please.
I walk down the stairs and head to the cellar to see if he’s drowning himself in his cups again. I enter the cold and damp room and there’s no candles or torches lit as I slink between the aisles of bottles. I hear and see no sign of Aegon, but I do spot our favorite wine. I grab the bottle by its neck and start up the stairs once more.
I walk to the main hall and take in the guards standing sentry at the doors. No one looks twice at me as I ghost through the hall with my robe swishing behind me. I stop when I see the throne room doors cracked open. I peak inside and sigh in relief that I’ve finally found him.
I push the doors open to let me in and then seal us inside. As I walk up to him he is standing at the bottom of the stairs looking up at the throne gripping the crown in his hand. As I make it to his side I see the tears streaming down his face. I place the bottle of wine on the ground and stand in front of him. His puffy eyes look down to me as he sniffles.
“Why do you cry, my love?” I whisper wiping his tears away.
“I never wanted this.” his voice breaks along with my heart as the conquerors crown falls to the stone beside us.
“I know,” my voice a whisper as I pull him down into a tight embrace.
His arms wrap around me tightly as he lets out soft sobs into my neck. I rub his back soothingly hoping I can calm his breathing. His tears seep onto my neck as they continue to fall from his eyes. He pulls back and his normally bright violet eyes seem sunken and dull.
“I wish Rhaenyra would come and kill me already.” he hiccups as his sobs start anew.
Tears fall from my own eyes at his words. I knew his hurt was deep, but I didn’t know it went this far. We stand there for what feels like hours in each other’s embrace while taking turns wiping each other’s tears away. Through the windows I can see the dawn on the horizon and slowly pull back.
“Come, I’ve found us our favorite wine.” I dip down to pick up the bottle.
His hand slips into mine leading me out of the throne room, leaving the crown on the stone floor. The main hall of the castle seems to be slowly waking up as we walk out the main doors ignoring the guards calling after us. We make our way to the back of the castle to sit in the grass as we watch the sunrise over the bay with our wine.
“Do you think she hates me?” Aegon murmurs while opening the bottle.
“Who?” I tilt my head.
“Rhaenrya. Mother. All of them. Everyone.” he sighs before taking a long drink of wine.
“Rhaenyra probably hates mother more than we do.” I take the bottle and bring it to my lips.
“Why would mother force this upon us? Father only ever talked about Rhaenyra. He never cared for us. He never wanted me to succeed him.” he buries his head in his hands.
“I don’t know why we were placed on this path.” I rest my head on his shoulder as I pass the bottle back to him.
The sun slowly rises into the sky and our empty bottle is discarded on the grass next to us. We lay back and look at the clouds simply enjoying the silence and company of each other. Our eyes slowly close as we curl into each other and allow sleep to take over as we soak in the morning sun.

“Get up. Both of you.” I crack my eyes open and see Alicent and Cole standing above us. I pull Aegon to his feet beside me and we try to avoid our mother’s harsh gaze.
“It seems as if we found the wine thief.” Cole says grabbing the empty bottle discarded on the grass.
“Why must you both cause me so much trouble. Leaving your crown on the ground like it’s some toy. Sneaking into the cellars to steal wine. Gods I can’t take it anymore.” she seethes, throwing her hands into the air as she turns to Cole.
“I didn’t ask for any of this.” Aegons words wobbly as his hand holds mine.
“I assumed you both would rise to your new titles. Hoping you would sober up and become respectable. You both never cease to prove me wrong and embarrass me at every turn.” she looks us over with disgust as her words continue to slice into us.
“You should’ve seized the crown for yourself if you wanted it so badly.” the words make it out of my mouth before I can even process them and she slaps me across the face.
“Strike her again and I will have your hand. I may not want the crown but it will allow me to protect her.” Aegon looks to me before looking back to our mother who stands there shocked at his words.
“You wouldn’t dare.” she scoffs shaking her head at us.
“Ser Criston, escort the Queen Dowager back to her chambers. I fear she’s having a fit of hysteria.” Aegon stands taller and his words baffle me.
“Aegon,” Alicent looks to him unamused.
“At once, Your Grace.” Cole nods to Aegon and starts to pull our mother back to the main doors of the castle.
At their absence he turns to me and softly ghosts his fingertips across my red cheek. I look up to him and see the anger in his eyes as he continues to stroke my cheek. I feel the rest of my body heat at his soft touch. He’s not always so soft and delicate but I’ve never really minded.
“Thank you,” I lean into his touch as his eyes slowly slide to mine.
“I won’t allow anyone to hurt you anymore. We must come up with a plan.” he places a kiss on my forehead before leading me back into the Keep.

The past couple of days have consisted of us trying to conjure up a plan to run away or somehow receive an audience with Rhaenyra. We’ve wrote countless letters but none of them seem good enough. Entertaining the idea of running away was all we did the entirety of the first day, but we don’t want to run anymore. We don’t want to be alone, we just want to be loved or die loving each other.
“Let us just send this one and be done with it.” Aegon sighs pushing his chair back from the table in our chambers.
Sister
I never wanted this and I know father never wanted this. Please, can we meet on the shores and find common ground. I have no wish for the crown, you can have it. Please.
Aegon and Y/n
“I think this one will do what we need it to. She’ll either meet us on the beach or The Stranger will.” I sigh folding the parchment and sealing it with wax.
“As long as we’re together.” he says softly looking up to me.
“As long as we’re together.” I hum nodding my head.
We leave our chambers as we walk to the tower where the ravens are kept. We send off the raven and watch as its wings carry our plea into the horizon. We walk down to the dining hall where we see the table empty and dusty. The Red Keep has been a shell since our father passed and our mother usurped the throne.
“It seems as if we’ll be dining in our chambers again.” I sigh going to turn out of the hall.
“No, have a seat and I’ll call the servants. We can dine here.” Aegon shakes his head and goes to pull out a chair for me.
He pushes my chair in for me before leaving the hall and returns with a herd of servants trailing behind him. They quickly place and light candles around the hall helping bring some of the life back. Aegon slips into the chair next to mine as a servant comes and fills up our cups with wine. A smile spreads across my face as I recognize our favorite summer wine.
“Did you really take another bottle?” I turn to him and see him offering me a genuine smile.
“We deserve our favorite wine with dinner,” he hums licking his lips.
“Indeed,” I raise my glass to him and sigh as the sweet wine trickles down my throat.
The servants fill our plates and continue to bring out different dishes. Once we’re fully sated we retire back to our chambers. The heaviness of our disastrous apartments weighs us down as we seal the doors behind us. He pushes clothes and other miscellaneous items out of our path before he lets out a deep sigh and falls back on the bed.
“Do you think Rhaenyra will listen to us?” he mumbles wiping his eyes.
“We can only hope.” I hum as I crawl on the bed next to him.
“If she doesn’t then this is our last night.” he turns to me with sad eyes but I can see the underlying relief that I know is mirrored in my own.
I press my lips to his softly. It starts off slow and innocent but soon he’s pulling me on top of him. He pulls my dress up around my waist and digs his fingers into my hips. His fingers find my wetness quickly and I’m gasping into his mouth.
“Only place I want to die is between your thighs.” he breaks our kiss breathing heavily.
He pulls me up his body and I know his desire. I slide off of him and lift my skirts to straddle his face. His hands grab my hips and places me on his lips. He places wet kisses along my thighs before licking my slit. I sigh in pleasure as he begins to swirl around my bud. My hips start to move against him and his responding groan sends vibrations straight to my core.
“Aegon,” I breathlessly whine as his hands begin to slide me across his mouth.
His tongue flicks against me relentlessly as my hips start moving on their own. His fingers dig into my thighs roughly as he feasts upon me. My body goes taught as I pulse around his tongue with his name falling from my lips.
“Fuck, my King,” his tittle slips out before I can stop it.
He seals his lips around my sensitive bud and my hips shutter from the pleasure he keeps offering me. I’m moaning loudly as he continues to rock me against his mouth. His tongue slips down to my core as his nose brushes against my bud. Pleasure starts to ripple through me as I toss my head back grinding down on to him.
“Aegon, I-“ my voice breaks into a cry as he continues with his tongue.
He chuckles into my wetness causing shockwaves to travel throughout my body. I’m babbling above him as he coaxes me through a third climax. My hands grab his to try and pry them from my hips. I finally collapse next to him on the bed and try to catch my breath. He starts to pull my dress off of me and once I’m bare his hands grab for my breasts.
I start to lift his shirt off and he finishes removing it quickly following with his trousers. His hard length bounces against his stomach before he dips down to take one of my nipples into his mouth. I whimper as he bites down, pulling it between his teeth while he looks up to me through his thick lashes. He makes his way to my other peak to tease it with his teeth.
My fingers thread through his hair before they go to the expanse of his back. I bring one of my hands between us to slowly start pumping him. He grunts as he continues to pull and tease my nipples. I swipe against his leaking tip and he whines against my chest. He removes himself from my breasts and watches my hand stroke him.
“Fuck,” he pants as I start to pump him faster.
He starts to jerk his hips into my hand as his head falls to my shoulder. He whimpers as he gets lost in his pleasure while sucking on my neck. His hand grabs mine and stops my movements. He trails his tip through my wetness causing a shiver to trail through me.
He pushes into me and watches as my face relaxes in pleasure at his stretch. Once he’s fully bottomed out he grinds his hips into me slowly. I moan as my fingers dig into his shoulders as he keeps up his slow, deep movements as his hair falls into my face. I clench around him and his forehead falls to mine as his breaths come out heavier.
He starts to rock his hips and I whine as he finally begins to move faster. His breath starts to come out in pants again as his hips start to snap into mine. I cling on to him as his pace quickens while moans pour from my mouth. He wraps one of my legs around his waist and I sob at the new angle.
“Yes, Aegon,” I pant as I throw my head back into the pillow.
He continues to rut into me and I bring my other leg to wrap around him and his hips falter at the deeper angle. My hips meet his as we chase our pleasure together. Our breath mingles while we whimper out each other’s names.
“Love you so fucking much,” his words slurred from pleasure as he slams his hips into mine.
Pleasure courses through me at his words as my walls contract around him. I feel him start to fill me as he continues to rock into me. His hips still and he leans down to capture my lips in a bruising kiss. I moan into his mouth as he grinds his hips into mine once more before slowly pulling out.
“Just gimme a couple minutes,” he pants laying next to me.
His hands trail all over my body as I try to catch my breath. His hands travel down to my soaked core as he slips his fingers in and begins to pump his seed back into me. My legs close around his hand as he curls his fingers wringing more pleasure from my body. I cry out his name as I flutter around his fingers and he pulls them out and brings them to his mouth.
He groans and rolls on top of me to kiss me. I moan into his mouth at the taste of myself on him. He licks my lips and travels down my neck and stops at my breasts again. He attaches to one of my hardened nipples and roughly grabs my other breast. I arch my chest up into his mouth as his roughness causes more wetness to pool between my thighs.
“Aegon, I need you,” I mewl trying to buck my hips into him but I end up just sliding myself on his thigh.
He grunts from my chest and bends his knee so I can grind against his thigh. I have one hand buried in his silver locks while the other grips his shoulder as he peppers my chest with attention. My hips are feverishly grinding against his thigh looking for any friction they can find. I pull his hair to get his attention that I want him to move lower and he releases the nipple he’s been holding hostage.
“Always so fucking needy.” he chuckles but kisses down my torso nonetheless.
The second his tongue laps against my bud my hand is flying to his hair pulling him closer to me. I’m grinding against his face as sobs rack through me. He slams two fingers into me pulling pleasure from me. He pushes a third finger in and my eyes are rolling to the back of my head and moans fall from my mouth. My orgasm slams through me stealing my breath as I try to pull his face away from me. I get him about an inch away before his hand grabs my wrist.
“Oh no no, my sweet girl this is what you wanted.” he chuckles lowly as his grip on my wrist tightens before he dips back down to continue licking at me.
My whole body is shaking as his tongue zeros in on my clit. My thighs squeeze around his head as my chest heaves. My back arches off the bed as my fingers continue to pull at his hair.
“Aegon, fuck Aegon, please,” I whine bucking my hips as pleasure bursts through me all over his face. He pulls away from my core with a wet face and a wide smile.
“Love when you do that,” he licks his lips before he shoves his tongue into my mouth.
I moan into our kiss as I feel his length press against me. He humps against me and my legs quake in anticipation. He slips into my core and my eyes shut. His hands grab mine to hold them above my head as he pounds into me.
“Gunna come again for me? Taking me so fucking good,” his pelvis grinds into my clit and I sob as pleasure ripples through me and I feel as if it’s never ending.
He rolls his hips as pleasure begins to wash through him. I come clenching around him once more as my vision blurs. When my eyes open again he’s peppering kisses all around my face. As he moves I can still feel him buried deep in me and I whine squirming.
“I always think you’re the most perfect when you’re thoroughly fucked, flushed cheeks, still squeezing my cock.” he groans grinding into me.
“Aegon,” tears prick at the edges of my eyes as he still pushes into me.
He slowly pumps in and out chuckling at my whimpers. He pulls out which leaves me feeling empty. He slides down and lays between my thighs resting his head on my stomach. I run my fingers through his hair as we both come down from our highs. I shut my eyes as I keep my fingers tangled in his hair as his arms wrap around me tightly.
“Do you love me?” he mumbles against my skin.
“You know I do, very much.” I hum still petting his hair. He snuggles into me as we drift off not caring what tomorrow holds as long as we’re together.

bad ideas & good distractions - c. sturniolo
fic, part one of bed chem… next door neighbor!chris x beauty influencer!reader
the first time you notice the moving boxes in the hallway, you don’t think much of it.
it’s a nice apartment building, and people come and go all the time. besides, you’re too busy editing a new video to care about whoever’s moving in.
then, later that night, it starts.
the music.
so loud it rattles your walls, pulsing through your head as you stare at your laptop screen. you try to ignore it, try to focus, but the bass is relentless.
eventually, you sigh, shut your laptop, and crawl into bed, hoping it stops soon.
it doesn’t.
this continues for the next few nights—loud ass music, doors slamming, voices in the hallway. annoying as hell, but not enough to make you confront your new neighbor.
until one night, around 1 a.m., when it’s actually a full-blown party.
laughter, shouting, people stumbling up and down the hall like they pay rent here.
you lay in bed, glaring at the ceiling, seething.
what the hell is his problem?
but instead of doing anything about it, you toss and turn, forcing yourself to sleep.
the next morning, you’re filming a get ready with me for an upcoming event, sitting at your vanity, blending concealer under your eyes.
“i did not sleep last night,” you say, “my new neighbor—who, by the way, i have not met yet—thinks my apartment complex is a frat house, apparently.”
you shake your head, dabbing in more product. “anyway, i’m going to this event later, so let’s fix my face and act like i’m not sleep deprived as hell.”
you post the video and go about your day, shoving the whole situation to the back of your mind.
but that night, when the music starts up again, you’re done.
at first, you try to ignore it, sipping on a glass of white wine as you edit a brand deal video, but then there’s moaning. loud, exaggerated, fake as hell.
you slam your laptop shut.
this motherfucker has lost his mind.
you storm into the hall, crossing your arms as you knock on his door, loud as hell.
the music doesn’t stop, but the door swings open a moment later.
and that’s the first time you see him.
low sweats. shirtless. hair slightly messy.
he leans against the doorframe, eyes dragging over you—your heartless hair curlers. pink pajama set. silk robe. fluffy slippers. the sleep-deprived glare on your face.
you looked like you just woke up from a slumber on twenty mattresses and still felt the damn pea.
then he smirks. “cute pajamas.”
you shift your weight onto your hip, unamused. “most people on this floor are in bed sleeping right now.”
his smirk deepens. “clearly, i’m not most.”
your eye twitches. “turn the music down. and the fake ass moaning, too.”
he chuckles.
you wait. “so?”
he shrugs, barely moving. “i’ll think about it.”
oh, you hate him.
“whatever.” you spin on your heel, stomping back to your apartment and slamming the door behind you.
the next morning, your head is pounding, but you push through and meet your girls for brunch.
“babe,” one of them says, stirring her mimosa. “you look rough.”
you sigh, stabbing your eggs. “my new neighbor is a fucking menace.”
they lean in. “spill.”
so you do.
you tell them about the loud music, the party, the smug ass smirk.
they listen, nodding along, sharing their own bad neighbor horror stories.
but one of them grins. “he’s hot, though, right?”
you hesitate. “that’s not the point.”
“but he is, isn’t he?”
you purse your lips, sipping your mimosa. “whatever.”
they laugh. “oh, you so think he’s hot.”
you don’t answer.
but you don’t deny it, either.
a few days pass, and you avoid him.
not hard to do.
but the thought of him lingers, especially late at night, especially when you’re in bed, mind wandering.
he’s just a guy.
just your annoying ass neighbor.
but you can’t stop thinking about his voice, his smirk, the way he leaned in the doorway—
get it together.
except you can’t.
and eventually, you come to terms with it.
it could just be a singular fuck. nothing more.
just something to scratch the itch.
so, one night, against your better judgment, you grab your keys, take a breath, and step out into the hall.
heading straight for his door.

Just Frank
Yeah, I know I've been away for like ever but I needed to put something for The Pitt on here! I love it even though it makes me feel like I'm at work sometimes. I started writing this before the newest episode came out (Ep. 10 for reference), and I refuse to believe that they did my man Dr. Langdon dirty like that. So I'm posting this fic in hoping that it turns out okay and he comes back! But this is just about you and your husband talking about your days at the hospital cuddled in bed after you get back home from your own very long shift. I love this man and hope he's being set up! Even though I'm probably wrong.
It was officially 10:00 p.m by the time you had finally walked through the door into your apartment. A long deep breath escaped you as you let go of the long day you’d had as you took off your crocs by the door and hung your jacket on the hooks. Frank was probably already in bed himself. His shift had ended a couple of hours before your own, giving him time to feed the kids, put them to bed, and take out the new puppy that he just had to get for the kids. The thought made you smile and shake your head, you really knew that Frank got the dog for himself because as soon as he saw that little golden doodle he just had to have it.
Due to your husband working 12 hours a day, sometimes longer you started to just leave your set of pajamas in the bathroom off of the living room. That way after your own very long day you can change and be comfortable without waking him up. Now i your old T-shirt of Frank’s and a pair of sleep shirts and slippers you tossed your soiled pair of scrubs into the washing machine to be washed the next laundry day. When a whole cup of a patients urine spilled due to improper collection you were going to need a clean pair of scrubs for the next day. Just the thought of the mishap was bringing your stress back, so it was time for a glass of wine and little bit of tv before you officially go to bed for the night. After about an hour and a glass of wine later you were officially yawning and ready for bed. The day had drained you, what you really needed was to crawl under the warm blankets and cuddle with your husband who was probably dead asleep. But when you slowly cracked open the bedroom door you learned that that was not the case.
“Y/N?” You heard Frank’s voice, heavy with sleep calling out to you.
“Hey,” you whispered softly. “After the day you’ve had I thought you’d be asleep by now.” You smiled at him as crawled into bed beside him.
“I was,” he sighed somewhat dramatically. “But then I heard you get home so I started to wonder when you were going to grace me with your presence.” You just smiled at him for your comeback. Once you were settled and warm, you moved over to Frank. Put your head on his chest and wrapped your arm around him to hold him tight.
“Ugh, I missed you.” You spoke into his chest, hiding your face as you took in his sell. He smelled of soap and aftershave. But to you it smelled like home.
“We talked 6 hours ago,” Frank chuckled as he pressed a kiss to your hair.
“ That didn’t count. We were at work and I had to call to report a critical.” You had to point out. Sometimes it was nice to work near your husband. With him working 12 to sometimes 24 hours and you work 9 hours into the night in the lab. Even though the two of you didn’t get the opportunity to see each other as much as you liked you could always contact each other. Sometimes if it was ever slow he would call your desk, but if the two of you were really lucky you’d get to have your breaks together. But that one was far and few between. But when the 2 of you saw each other, it was at home with your children. So the only time you had with your husband was before going to bed and waking up in the morning next to him. That is if he hadn’t been called into the ER for an emergency.
“Yeah you’re right.” Frank admits wrapping one arm around you then running his other hand up and down your arm. “How was your day, anyway?”
“ Oh you know, same as every day. Getting specimen where they need to go to be tested, calls from tons of nurses, calls to nurses. Urine spills, lab machines malfunctioning. It was long but not the worst.” You answered him. You always felt bad talking about how tiring your day was to your husband who was a doctor in the ED and was actively saving lives everyday. But he never once said anything to you or told you that what you did was nothing compared to his. Because he knew that working anywhere in healthcare was tolling. But truth was after the day you just had you were exhausted. Getting 2 kids under 4 ready for day care was not the easiest, especially when you only have 2 hands. But when you add working on your feet all day, it wears on you. “How about you? How was your day?” Your hand on his stomach started to wander and make imaginary patterns in Frank’s t-shirt.
“I’m assuming you heard about the little girl that drowned?” Frank asked firstly.
“I did. I saw it on the ED list. I’m so sorry baby.” You looked up at him with sorrow, reaching up to brush the dark hair out of his face when you noticed tears starting to fill his eyes. He looked down at you trying to give a small smile, but he didn’t need to be strong right now. You placed a soft kiss on his lips and you felt his own lift ever so slightly.
“She was just so small. It made me think of the kids.”
“That would never happen. They have Dr. Daddy and Science Mommy keeping them safe.” You smiled trying to control your giggles.
“They told you that?” Frank asked with a surprised face that made him look adorable.
“Yeah, they do sometimes.” You played with the hem of his shirt as you told him. “We got pretty lucky, Dr. Langdon.”
“We really did, Mrs. Langdon.” The couple just looked into each others eyes with small smiles on their faces. Not quite believing how they had ended up where they currently were. Breaking the emotional tension, Frank pressed a kiss to his wife's forehead, then her lips. Which lingered.
“Dr. Langdon,” you said against his lips. “Don’t you have to be up for the day in 6 hours?” Asking as his hands began to wander.
“I’m a doctor. I’m used to being overtired, it’s part of the job description.” He joked as he rolled his wife onto her back, sliding on top of her and sliding a leg between hers. “Oh, and by the way. When we’re at home, it’s Frank to you.”

dinner or a bath first?

wc: 2.4k content warning: smut, kitchen sex, established relationship, creampie, fingering, swallowing cum, my booty writing, multi-fandom x reader, one shot, not proofread
ల۫ ۪𓆪
You looked at the clock. It’s currently 9:26 PM. Your husband ran a bit late due to being held overtime for a big company project this past month. He’s been working so behind lately you can’t help but sigh whenever you slide into your warm linen sheets, knowing you won’t see him until you watch him leave for work. You get up from bed, slip into your fuzzy slippers, and head into the kitchen to cook some late-night dinner. Turning on the lamp that lights almost the whole room, you decide to unwind your pent-up sexual desires with a glass of your favorite wine. You have this lurking feeling that he’s gonna come home earlier than usual and decide to make a larger portion of dinner that night.
As usual, heat up the pan with some oil and sizzle away the raw seasoned steak. While it hissed, you cut up some veggies to cook alongside the main dish of the night. That was until you paused. The crackling of the pan and steak continued as the steam rising up polluted the air. You heard the front door squeak open and the big heavy dress shoes clacking against the marble entrance. Your husband had returned home from work at a much earlier time than usual. His face lit up at the sight of you cooking at such a late time for supper, usually you were in bed exhausted.
“Darling, I’m home” he says softly with a smile, slowly approaching you with his blazer in hand. His hair slightly messed up from working, his lingering cologne that was faded almost completely off, roughed up tie and collar, and expensive shoes clunking as he steps further.
“I miss you.. how was work today baby?” You question sheepishly, as your eyes linger at his current state. A tall lean, muscular man in a nice suit and tie just coming home from work. The sight was something to behold since you haven’t seen him come home in so long. You couldn’t help but think to yourself, He’s so attractive even in this state. Usually you’re laying in bed waiting for him to come home but end up falling asleep before he’s laying next to you. His eye bags were quite dark from the lack of sleep and you worried if he’s eaten yet.
“It was good, we’re starting to come to a close and end this long project. How long has it been since I started this project again.. was it, two? No, almost three weeks. I’m sorry sweetheart, it’s been a long month,” he furrows his brows and takes off his glasses to massage the bridge of his nose in frustration to put them back on again. He laid his blazer on the edge of the kitchen counter and sat on the island stool, watching you flip over the steak to its oiled aromatic side.
“Don’t be sorry, it’s not your fault this project has been long and rough. Hopefully you end off this company project with a bang.. Have you eaten, or would you prefer a bath first?” Looking up at him his eyes were widened a bit. Assuming that he wanted that delicious steak for dinner first, you continue to return to chopping up the rest of the vegetables. That was until you felt his large beefy arms wrap around your waist and the warmth of his face in the crook of your neck.
“Darling, I don’t want any of those right now” was what was whispered in your ear. His sleepy voice altered your senses when you felt something press against you.
It wasn’t just his muscular body, but his bulging cock against his slacks which were pressing against your ass. You were trapped around his big strong arms. You couldn’t help but gasp when he started to lay a kiss down your neck.
“I miss you so much darling, it’s been so long since I saw you at home cooking dinner like a regular person,” you can’t help but drop the knife you used to slice your vegetables with. Turning around, you put your arms around his shoulders and kissed him on the lips. Looking him in the eye, his eyelids seemed heavy nevertheless he was filled with desire and lust that screamed out that he wanted you right here and right now.
He kissed you back and put his arms behind you, onto the counter. He also switches the stove off with his left hand or else your supper would be ruined. Behind you, he moves the cutting board to the side so he’s able to push you up onto the counter to match his height. With his strong hands, he helps you up the counter and you pull him in to continue making out.
“Do you know how long I’ve waited for you?” Pulling away to breathe you said in between pants. Smiling at him because of how long it’s gotten since you were still crushing on him back then. You can’t help but let out a small giggle as you start spread your legs open for him to come closer. The heat exuding from your legs, being rubbed by his built up boner you can’t help but moan as you closed him in. The fabric between your thin silk dress, panties and his pants, you were able to feel every touch and grind.
“I’ll make up for that missing time with you right now darling,” he tells you with a slight smirk on his face and irregular breathing pace. You watch as he roughs up his hair even more by putting his hand through it. He loosens his crooked tie by toying with it from left and right. As well as unlooping up a few buttons that felt tight onhis chest. You can’t help but gulp as you watch patiently for the moment you’ve been waiting for, but first you decided that he needed a treat. You hop off the kitchen counter and kneel down. He wasn’t expecting this when you unzipped his pants making eye contact with him with a cunning smile.
“You deserve this after a long rough day,” taking his large caged cock out of his boxers. His big dick recoils out of place and just slightly hits his abdomen, he’d been craving you for who knows how long that there’s already precum on his tip. He watches you as you start to suck on his tip, keeping eye contact with him. Watching his reactions made you so horny and wet. His whimpers were music to your ears, the sounds your mouth made when you went deeper onto his cock were beyond lewd. He started to push your head down slowly until you felt his cock kissed the back of your throat making you tear up a bit. Still, you kept on sucking and bobbing your head on his deliciously girthy cock.
When his cock started to twitch, your pace grew faster knowing he’s gonna cum. His moans roared louder and his grip in your lucious locks grew tighter. You can’t help yourself but feel absolutely soaked down there hearing your husband’s seductive moans and whimpers echo throughout the house like on replay.
“A-Ah, I..I’m c-cumming!” He tries to push your head off so you wouldn’t have to swallow his cum. To his surprise though, you had your fingers clutched tightly onto his hips to stabilize yourself. You wanted his every drop in you, until he sucked bone dry. When he came into your mouth you couldn’t help but swallow it all. When you released your grip and slid your mouth off his cock, he looked nothing but horrified.
“Sweetheart.. Did you just… swallowed all of my cum??” He questions you shockingly, knowing you usually don’t like the taste of cum or swallowing it as a matter of fact. You wiped your mouth and opened to show him that every drop of his seed that was released was vacuumed down your throat. Before rising from the floor, you slide down your panties and kick them off to the side. Talk about dinner, you were his dinner for tonight.
“Slide it in babe, it’s wet and ready for you..” you were more than ready to take his big cock as you stand, leaning against the counter. You spread your dripping cunt for all of him to see. You knew that it’s gonna sting a bit to adjust to his size, but you didn’t care. Again, he carried you up upon the cold kitchen counter and parted your legs open like the Red Sea. Peppering you with kisses, he slips a finger in and starts off at a slow bearable pace. When his lips reach towards your collarbone, he looks at your expressions and adds another finger in with a slight snicker due to how adorable you look right now. Finding your sweet spot, he starts teasing and going at it. Curling his fingers in and out, making you hold onto his broad shoulder, letting out your sweet moans he missed hearing.
“Loosen up for me if you think you can handle my cock. It’s gotten much harder thinking about you for days on end. You know.. jerking off to the thought of you alone doesn’t help very much..” he mutters along your skin leaving his warm embrace through his breath. You help him take off your short silk dress, leaving you completely naked and bare on the chilling countertop. His eyes gazed at your perky nipples and your subtle smooth skin. He leaves his marks on places that clothing can hide knowing you have work the next day. Seeing you squirm so much, he decides to bind your hands together using his tie he loosened earlier. It was tight, but not to the point where it’s gonna hurt or leave a mark on you. You can’t help but become a moaning mess under his warm touch. Your whines came to a halt when you pushed away his arm, stopping him from fingering you when signaled him to stop.
“What’s wrong sweetheart?” He looked at you with a slight worried expression carried with his tired eyes which shook in concerned. He backed away, giving you some room waiting for you to explain your disturbance.
“I can’t wait anymore, please just put it in…” You put your tied hands over his head and drewhim in closer to your body, leaving his arms to lie at the sides of your hips. At this point you’re begging for his cock, you don’t care if it’ll hurt. You just need him in you.
“Ha.. don’t complain when I start moving” he let out a sly smirk. He rips the glasses off his face and throws them on the counter. Lining himself up at your entrance his cock was more than just immersed in your juices. And there was that one massive thrust of his that made your toes curl up from the impact. His whole cock was fully inside you with one full push making you feel so full. He started moving at a slow bearable pace that built up.
“A-Aah! Baby your cock feels so good!!” You can’t help but shout about how his cock makes you feel every time he’s in you. His quickening pace makes you throw your head back every time, mixing in the stinging pain and pleasure from adjusting. His grunts mixing in with your moans, the sounds bouncing off the walls alone had you screaming in pleasure. Oh how you longed for this man’s length to be within you.
His pace starting to roughen sent you through a loop when he flipped you around with your back facing him, your right leg being propped up on the counter. At this point he was gonna drill a hole into your stomach. Hitting that one spot you enjoyed so much with all his power, he used your strapped hands behind your back as support.
“Fuuck.. sweetheart I can go all night. I-I want to cover you in my cum. I want to make.. you the mother of my future children,” he managed to mumble into your ear amongst the sound of skin to skin slapping and wet squelching noises your pussy made whenever he went in and out of you. His cock twitches inside you, ready to burst and coat the insides of your cunt his shade of white.
“D-Do it then. Cum in me.. I’m yours.. this is your pussy a-ah..!” you murmured in between moans, brain almost to the point where you can’t think straight while looking back at him. Those were the words he needed to hear before unleashing his white fluid in you, gushing when he pulled out. You let out a whimper when he pulled out, feeling empty without him to fill in that void in you. Turning to look at him with a somewhat disappointed face.
“Don’t worry, I’m not done with you yet. Overall, you said your pussy belongs to me.. right?” he breathed out, his mouth curving into a slight smile as he watched his cum start to seep out. He takes off his dress shirt, exposing his chiseled figure puffing in and out profusely. He undoes his necktie from your wrists and you reach your arms for him as he carries you onto his cock. The strength he still has to keep going, especially in this position, caught you a bit surprised. Let’s just say he wasn’t tired as he seemed to appear. That was, until he started heaving you up and down in his cock which was rimmed with your fluid and his cum mixed together making loud wet sounds. Your nails pressed into his shoulder blades creating crescent shapes into his skin. This position had you gagged. It was hitting every deep sensitive area you had in you. You didn’t know if you can take him in this position any longer,as you were close to finishing on his cock.
Whenever he came, it was either in you, or on you. Seeing you practically sprawled across the kitchen counter, covered and filled by his dripping thick cum was a sight for him. You don’t know how many times he’s made you cum. Nevertheless yo ustopped counting how many rounds you went with him. He wanted to keep going, but you were at your limit as well as for his physical body. He also knew you both couldn’t keep on going, as it was also getting even later the more you fucked.
“H-Ha.. I think dinner’s cold, sweetheart” were the words he said before releasing his last load on your face.

someone has their sights set on you... but that someone is all wrong.
okkotsu yuta x f!reader ノ 2.1k wc ノ NSFW minors do not interact ノ step-brother!yuta ノ stepcest ノ dubcon (alcohol) ノ handjob ノ pet names (baby)
When your mother remarries and Yuta comes into your life to fill the role of step-brother, you aren’t exactly sure what to expect.
You’ve never had a brother before, no one to threaten boys in an attempt to discourage them from breaking your heart or annoy you when you have friends over for the night. And you anticipate that he’ll fit the mold, fall into the standard that’s been set by your friends. As unfamiliar as you are with siblings of the male variety—you don’t consider Yuta’s behavior as brotherly.
He’s kind, and you suppose that’s a trait that can be attached to brothers—but not in the way Yuta is nice. There’s something… different about the way he smiles at you, like he’s thinking about things other than what you’re talking about, like there's something else on his mind that you aren’t privy to. It’s a pretty smile, you acknowledge every time you see, but it makes you a bit uneasy.
The things he does for you feel more like acts boyfriends take on—opening doors for you, zipping up your coat, offering to take your makeup off after a long day. It’s hard to turn him away or tell him no, especially when he insists on helping you out. How can you deny him when he wears a pout that’s practically begging for your permission to lend a hand? And, as he says, he’s your brother, after all.
You’re close, but not in the way siblings should be. He tells you a lot, things that he shouldn’t feel comfortable telling his sister, things about his relationships that you have no business knowing, that make your cheeks warm up and your teeth bite down on your lip. He asks about yours, too, curious to know whether or not the boys you bring around are satisfying you, “the way they should be,” he likes to say. You’re never quite sure how to answer him or just why he’s so interested in parts of your life that are meant to be private.
Things have gotten even stranger since the two of you moved out of your parent’s home, relocating to live on your own and start lives outside of your family unit. Yuta still makes an effort to visit you often, going out of his way to make sure the apartment you end up renting isn't too far from his. You’re sure that if it were up to him, he’d have you living in his spare room.
He’s over your place now with the intention of “catching up” despite seeing you only a week ago. His presence in your home has become a normal one, so much so that you’ve gone out of your way to get him his own pair of slippers and even make sure that your fridge is always stocked with enough food for two.
Neither of you has paid the dinner you made much mind, you focusing on your wine and Yuta focusing on you. You’ve almost gotten used to being the subject of his dark stare, but you’ll admit that meeting it is a little easier with alcohol in your system. Another sip of the beverage is enough for you to find your voice. “So, how’s that girl you’ve been seeing?”
Whether it’s because your living room is dimly lit or because you’re starting to feel the effects of the wine, you swear you see Yuta deflate with your question. The lighting isn’t tricking you—his shoulders do slump a bit upon hearing your query. He knows he’s forthcoming with information regarding his relationships but he thought he made the fact clear; that all of these girls are simply placeholders for the one he truly wants. You don’t seem to have caught on. “I’m not seeing her anymore.”
You snort, swirling your wine in its glass. “What was it about this one?”
Yuta’s turnover rate with girlfriends is something to gawk at—you don’t think you could count the number of women he’s wooed over the years even if you tried… not that you’ve ever found yourself keeping track. It should be a glaring red flag, how quickly he moves on from one to the next without batting an eye, but you merely chalk it up to him being a bit of a player. And that much should mean nothing to you. Guys who sleep around aren’t your type and even if you didn’t mind the lifestyle, Yuta is off-limits.
Not that you’ve ever thought of him in that way.
Yuta shrugs. “She just wasn’t right for me.”
“Is anyone?” A giggle bubbles up from your chest and it makes Yuta’s heart jump, bang against his ribcage like it’s trying to escape and make its way into your hands. He’s met with a sick thought, a little voice in the back of his head whispering that your hands are where his heart belongs. “You know, you’re super picky.”
He grins at your claim. It wouldn’t be untrue to say that he has acquired a specific taste, a fixed hunger, over the past few years. “Picky” isn’t quite the right word—he prefers “particular”. “I’m not, I just know what I want.”
You nod, bringing your glass to your lips. “And what’s that?”
“You.”
The little bit of wine that made it into your mouth is sputtered back into the glass as Yuta’s confession wafts through the air. You’re too busy trying to compose yourself to see the way the corners of Yuta’s mouth twitch at your reaction—how his gaze falls to your lips to watch how you lick them to clean up the mess of wine.
You’ve always thought that he’s treated you like someone other than a sister but you never imagined he’d come right out and say it, and so shamelessly, at that. Your cheeks heat up as the single word hangs in the air, the warmth spreading up to the tips of your ears and some other place that you try not to acknowledge.
What’s worse, the admission doesn’t make your stomach churn in disgust. It doesn’t urge you to stand up and kick him out—tell him not to come back and leave you alone for good. Because as much as you’d like to deny it, to push those sickening feelings down into the deepest, darkest depths of you, there’s a piece of you that feels the same.
“You’ve thought about it, too, haven’t you?” Yuta’s voice cuts through the thick, suffocating air surrounding you. There’s an edge to his tone that you haven’t heard before that has you dragging your bashful gaze up to his.
“It’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with it,” he reassures you as if he can hear the doubts swimming in your head like angry piranhas. His hand finds yours and you jump at the contact but you don’t pull away. The pad of his thumb runs over your knuckles, calloused skin comforting you in a way it shouldn’t as he continues. “We’re not actually related—only by title.”
“Yeah but… what would people think?” It’s taboo, you know that much—it’s why you’ve been so hellbent on suppressing those nagging feelings of attraction throughout the years. Though, with his confession now out in the open, those very feelings are trying to crawl their way up from the depths of your chest—they’re surfacing.
“No one has to know.” Yuta lightly shakes his head to emphasize his point. The eyes staring you down are glistening with desire, like your question has given the man hope for a long sought-after fantasy. “We can keep it between us… our little secret.”
You chew the inside of your cheek as you ponder over his suggestion. The rational part of you is screaming to snatch your hand away and point him to the door but the part of you led by longing and lust urges you to stay put, to see this through. The two thoughts are like a floating angel and devil on each of your shoulders, both of them whispering in your ear, playing tug-of-war to see which side will win your favor.
The push you need to make a decision comes in the form of Yuta himself, the man lifting your hand from your lap to his lips. A light kiss brushes your knuckles before he guides your palm to the tent between his legs. You suck in a surprised gasp at the contact your hand makes with the hard bulge.
“See what you do to me?” Yuta breathes out, light and airy, “Only you can do this to me.”
A twisted sense of pride sprouts in your chest upon hearing his declaration. Yuta has never hidden the fact that you’re special to him but you never imagined just how special that was. The statement gives you the confidence to touch him of your own will, hand tentatively rubbing over his clothed erection.
Yuta lets out a shattered breath and the sound has your hand stilling and your gaze darting up to his—like a bunny spooked by unexpected commotion. His free hand makes its way up to cradle the side of your face, thumb running up and down your cheek. “Keep going, baby.”
You swallow and nod your head, hand picking up where it left off in its exploration over his jeans. As pretty as the quiet moans yuta releases into the air are, you can’t help but think it would feel better—for the both of you—if there wasn’t a denim barrier between the two of you.
Your fingers reluctantly reach for his belt before pausing in their path. You look up at him through your eyelashes. “C-can I?”
Yuta didn’t think it was possible for him to get even more turned on—not after your initial acceptance, not after he finally felt your touch, but your questions has his pants growing uncomfortably tighter. You’ve always been cute in his eyes but your asking for permission gives him all the more reason to find you absolutely adorable. “Please.”
Dark eyes follow your fingers as they fumble to unbuckle the man’s belt. You’re not sure whether your shaky hands are due to nerves or excitement but the trembling doesn’t go unnoticed by Yuta and when you get his pants and boxers down his hips, he places a steady hand on your quivering one.
It’s warm and big around yours and you don’t question his action, only let him take your hand, guide it to the cock you’ve just pulled out. You’re no longer afraid to admit that you’ve thought about it before—what Yuta’s cock looked like. It’s different seeing the real thing and you find your mouth drying with the sight, lips parted as Yuta continues to steer your hand.
Both of you gasp when your palm meets his skin, dragging beads of precum down Yuta’s shaft with his guidance. beyond your mingled breaths, the lewd squelching that accompanies each assisted stroke of Yuta’s cock sounds in the otherwise quiet air.
Yuta grunts as he helps you jerk his cock, a pleasure he’s never felt before washing over him. “F-fuck—” he chokes out, “I knew you’d feel this good.”
Your hand alone is better than any mouth or pussy he’s been in—it fits like a glove, fingers grazing every vein just right, brushing over his slit, squeezing his shaft. God—if your hand feels this good, Yuta can only imagine what it’ll be like to have your lips wrapped around him, to be buried in the warmth of your cunt. He wonders if you know just what effect you have on him, if you’re aware of how much of a mess the mere thought of you turns him into.
The moment you look up at him with those doe-ish eyes of yours, he can’t hold out any longer.
And with a series of strangled moans, Yuta comes, ropes of warm cum shooting over your joined hands. You can feel him soften in your hand as you stroke his cock through his high, his musical whimpers meeting your ears.
When he finds his voice, Yuta speaks up. “Made me come so good.”
His hand finally lifts from yours and you’d complain about the cold, empty feeling if it wasn’t relocated beneath your chin. Yuta tips your head up, leaning down to steal a kiss. His lips are pillowy and soft as they dance with yours and you moan into his mouth when his tongue seeks yours. It’s a messy, wet kiss, but one that has you yearning for more—more of his lips, more of his cock, more of him.
You let out a muffled squeal when you feel yourself reclining, Yuta’s weight and imposing presence hovering above you as you come to lie back on the couch. You suck in a breath after Yuta pulls away. He presses his forehead against yours, meeting your widened gaze.
“Let me take care of you, baby.”

"Spencer... I think we need to talk." I said into the phone. His breathing sounded uneasy and his words sounded shaky as his answer came over the line.
"Yeah...okay... I'll be up in 5 minutes."
"Okay. See you then." I answered. I hung up the phone and looked at myself in the mirror. Was I really about to do this? Could I do this? And I meant that philosophically, it was definitely against HR guidelines. My fingers tightened around the cold glass bottle in my hands as I raised it to my lips, taking a swig of the tart but not altogether unpleasant dry white wine I'd found in my fridge. I closed my eyes, attempting to settle my nerves with a slow and deliberate inhale. You can do this... He's only your coworker.... And best friend... And downstairs Neighbor... God! What was I doing? I had to call him back and tell him nevermind! We didn't need to talk after all. I would be okay. I loved being his friend. I could love him from afar. Cheer him on from the sidelines... Maybe that could be enough…
No... I knew I'd never get enough of him that way to make up for not having him in the way I needed him... What if... What if I took the mystery out of it? What if I just slept with him? Then I could have those memories to hold me over until I was dead and it wasn't my problem anymore. That could be enough... That would be enough. It had to be. It was the best compromise. I could have a piece of him. And it would be less likely to complicate things than if I were to come right out and tell him that I loved him. From the very moment I saw him. I raised the bottle to my lips again, taking another swig. I had probably drank way more than I should have. That tell-tale fuzziness began to cloud my brain in simultaneously the best and worst ways. I only knew one thing for certain in that moment... I absolutely positively could not tell him the truth of why I'd asked him up here. I heard his familiar knock on my front door. 'Shave and a haircut, two bits.'
I gritted my teeth and headed to the door. Fate awaited me there. I placed the bottle down on the counter of my kitchen island much harder than I meant to, creating a loud clang. I grimaced and reached out for the door, shrugging my housecoat higher on my shoulders. The door opened to reveal Spencer, standing in his pajamas, robe, and the slippers I'd bought him for secret Santa at the office two Christmases ago.
"Are you...okay?" I just gestured to the bottle sitting on the counter and stepped aside, letting him enter. He came in, walking stiff and awkward, obviously not knowing why he'd been summoned. I sucked in a deep breath. You can do this. Just ask him if he'd like to have sex with you... There was just one problem. I had no idea how proposing a casual sexual encounter worked. I'd only ever had sex within a relationship... Never free-range. I screwed up my nose at that wording. Free-range... Like all my sexual encounters had been locked up in some kind of cage up until this point. Well, maybe that was one way of looking at it. This was something different. Something new to try. I wasn't doing this because I was a coward. No, I was just giving myself a new experience. A new adventure. This was empowering.
Spencer's hair was wet. He must've had a shower no more than 10 minutes ago. A small water droplet fell from one of his gorgeous locks and cascaded down his forehead as if it were on a crusade of sorts. He raised his hand to wipe it away and I noticed he'd been staring at me. Probably thinking I was some kind of nutcase. My hand slowly reached out without my telling it to do so, taking his as I took a slow step closer.
"(Y/n)..." He questioned.
"Spencer..." I whispered back. His eyes fluttered down to my lips. His eyelashes seemed impossibly long and his gaze felt hot on my skin.
"(Y/n)..." His breath clouded my senses. Oh God...
"Spencer..." I whined, turning my eyebrows up.
"You're drunk..." He whispered, leaning down closer to my lips.
"True." I answered, my lips ghosting over his as I spoke. Was I really doing this?
"Tell me what I'm doing here." He murmured. I wanted so desperately just to spill everything. To tell him how I felt. To tell the truth no matter what it cost me. But I just couldn’t…
"To quell my curiosity" I whispered. I interlaced our fingers and my breath caught in my throat as his other hand laid on my hip.
"And what is it you're curious about?" He asked. What came out of my mouth next was almost definitely the wine talking.
"I want to know how your tongue tastes..." his mouth split into a grin and the tip of his nose knocked against mine as I gritted my teeth, just waiting.
"God dammit, (Y/n)..." He whispered.
"Because I've always wondered..." I murmured. "And maybe... If I were to taste you... Just once... I could get it out of my head." Yes, definitely the wine... I mean, sober thoughts, but I definitely didn't intend for them to come out of my mouth.
"Just once?" He asked.
"Okay... Maybe more than once... " I stood on my tiptoes and let my eyes flutter closed before I finally pressed my lips to his. Desire burned through my body and my skin buzzed with anticipation. This night had potential. We had potential. I needed him. In whatever way I could get him. Just this once... Finally, I could let my little façade slip. Even just a little. Maybe I couldn't tell him the whole truth, but this night... We could have this night... And that would have to do.
Spencer slowly pulled his hand out of mine, reaching up and pushing my hair back behind my ear, letting his hand settle on the back of my neck. I tipped my head down, breaking our lips apart and leaning my forehead against his. This was already more than I ever could have hoped for. I looked up into his eyes. His gorgeous, warm, caramel eyes. He slowly dipped his head down, his lips pressed against my neck and I groaned, feeling my knees start to give way under me. I slowly shrugged my housecoat off and it fell to the ground, pooling around my feet. I was now left in my white, ribbed tank-top and my black bicycle shorts with the rainbow waistband. His hand slowly slipped under my top, propping itself back on my hip.
"Oh... Fuck..." I whispered, gripping onto his robe. My fists clenched around the material. Spencer's teeth nipped at my skin, his lips abusing it to the point, I knew they'd be leaving a bruise in their wake. He broke away from me.
"Tell me what you want..." He whispered, looking into my eyes. They seemed to be lit with the same fiery passion that had been ignited in mine. My lips parted as I gasped for air.
"God, Spencer, just take me!" I spat, reconnecting our lips. Spencer's hands ran down the backs of my thighs and I jumped. He caught me and carried me to the kitchen island, placing me down on it. I desperately pushed his robe off his shoulders, and he shed it. I placed my hands on either side of his face, pressing my lips back to his in a feverish frenzy. He gripped the bottom hem of my tank top, pulling it up. It passed between our lips, and I took a moment to suck in a deep breath.
"Oh... Oh my god... " He whispered as his gaze fell down to my chest. "You look... Oh my god..." His hands laid on my sides, running up and tracing the outline of my breasts. "Jesus (Y/n)..." I felt a hot blush claw its way onto my face. "Can I...?"
"Oh... Uh, yeah- of course." I answered. He slowly bent down, forming his lips around my right nipple, sucking slightly and lapping his tongue up against it. I tangled both my hands in his hair, tugging on it hard. He let out a groan. "Oh... Ah- Spence! Oh my God!!!" I lolled my head back and my toes curled, my back arching as moans spilled from my lips.
"God, you're so fucking beautiful." He murmured, leaning in and kissing down my chest. I pushed myself forward and slid off the bar, taking his hand and dragging him with me to my bedroom. I just needed him. I pulled my hand from his and pushed down my shorts and my panties, hopping out of them and leaving them on the floor. Spencer began shedding his clothes behind me and I climbed into bed. He climbed in after me, holding himself over top of me. "Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked. I felt a shiver go down my spine. Did I? If this was what I got... So be it... I'd take any of him he was willing to give.
"Yes..." I answered, "I- I need this... I- I need you." Spencer closed his eyes and a small grin appeared on his face. He nodded and reached down, taking himself into his hand and guiding his tip to my entrance.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"Yes." I answered. I took a deep breath and grabbed fistfuls of the sheets. Spencer slowly pushed into me. A gasp clawed its way forth from my throat and I heard Spencer let out a similar one. He buried his head in my neck, his teeth sinking into my shoulder. A loud whine left me, and I felt an unexpected silent sob wrack my body. He filled me so totally and so completely in a way I didn't think I'd ever be able to describe. All I knew was that there would be a gaping hole in my chest where my heart used to be when he was gone.
I felt disgusted with myself. I'd gotten Spencer into my bed... And for what? Just so I could squirrel a piece of him away to keep for myself? So I could have something to point to on those nights when I felt so incredibly alone? Like nothing could ever fill the gaping, never-ending, all-encompassing black hole of loneliness that overtook my chest every so often. My nails dug into his back as he rocked in and out of me. He snapped his hips hard against me and it ripped me out of my thoughts, back to the moment. He felt impossibly good. Amazing, even. This was no doubt the best sex of my life. He felt incredible.
"Oh... God...! Oh fuck Spencer! Yes- God yes!" I dragged my nails down his back, gripping his hips so hard I knew I'd leave marks. This beautiful man was in my bed, making me feel things that no one else ever had. I rocked my hips, my back arching hard against the mattress. God, what was I doing?! I was lying to him. I had to come clean. I had to tell him the truth. This had to stop. A strangled sob ripped out of my body. I felt hollow.
"Stop! God- Spencer... Please- please stop!" Spencer immediately pulled out of me and threw himself off the side of the bed, standing over me and watching as tears fell down my face.
"Oh God- (Y/n), fuck- I'm so sorry- I-" I sat up, covering my chest with my arms and pawwing uselessly at the steady stream of tears falling down my cheeks.
"No... I'm sorry, Spencer. I- I don't- this isn't what I wanted- I.." I drew my legs up under me. Spencer eyed me wearily, sitting beside me. I leaned my head on his shoulder, intertwining our fingers. "Spencer, I have... I have loved you since the day we met... And I just... I couldn't tell you- I just had to have a part of you..." Spencer looked down at me.
"(Y/n), I... I don't know what to say..." He murmured. My heart dropped. He slowly picked his head up and I knew he was looking at me. I picked up my head and kept my eyes on the floor. "(Y/n)... Look at me..." I slowly lifted my head and met his eyes. He looked disappointed... But there was something more there... "Why didn't you just tell me?"
"I... I just couldn't..." I whispered.
"(Y/n), I have always thought you were the smartest, sweetest, most beautiful woman I'd ever met... But I gave up hope that you would ever feel the same... But this...? God... (Y/n)..." He dragged his eyes up my body and I felt forced to meet them.
"I'm so sorry..."
"Fuck, (Y/n)..." He whispered. He leaned in and reconnected our lips. I immediately reciprocated. I shoved the blankets off of me and cambered on top of him.
"God, Spencer..." I whispered against his lips. His caramel eyes darkened as they met mine. "Please, can I put it in?" I asked, “Please please please?" I begged. His lips broke into a devilish grin.
"How bad do you want it?" He asked, leaning his forehead on mine, letting his eyes wander down my nude body.
"Fuck, Spencer... I need it... I need you so bad..." I whispered, “Please! Spencer, please, please, please. I need you inside me..." He gritted his teeth and dragged the tip of his nose up my face until his lips were almost back on mine.
"Okay... Show me how well you take it." He muttered against my lips. I smiled and reached down between us. I took his cock into my hand, giving him a few pumps before guiding him into me. My mouth fell open and a gasp escaped. I sat down on him fully, my head rolling back as I slowly started rocking my hips. “Oh fuck..." Spencer whispered, his hands immediately propping themselves on my hips. His grip was tight and he felt fucking amazing.
"Ah- Spencer...! Spence, fuck..." I groaned. My back arched and I placed my hands behind me, steadying myself on his thighs. I cast my eyes down, watching as he slowly disappeared and reappeared from inside me. I moved my hips harder and faster. My slick fluid cascaded down his gorgeous shaft, wetting the neat, downy hairs at its base. I glanced up at his face, seeing he couldn't seem to pull his eyes away from the sight. He slowly moved one of his hands down, perching his fingers on my clit. I clenched my eyes shut and moved my hips in a sloppier pattern. " Oh- oh God, Spencer! Yes! Just like that! Oh my God, fuck!"
"Fuck, (Y/n), you feel so fucking amazing... God, you're so fucking- ah! God, you're so fucking tight!" I squeezed around him, flicking my hips forward. His head immediately lolled back, his lips parting, groans and gasps spilling out. His hips bucked up against mine and my grip on his thighs tightened. I could feel my fingers digging into his skin, continuing the sharp snapping movement of my hips. I felt his cock twitch inside me and I suddenly sat up, my movements shifting to more of a hopping motion. I wrapped my arms around him, digging my nails into his back, gripping him so tightly, I felt the tips of my fingers beginning to numb. Spencer bucked his hips up to meet mine sloppily. I leaned my forehead on his, meeting his eyes. We both broke into gasps, our breathing almost indistinguishable from the pleasured moans that escaped us. "God, you're so fucking beautiful..." Spencer gasped against my lips. Our breathing was ragged, and I poked my tongue out from between my teeth, running it along his upper lip. A chuckle escaped him and he opened his mouth, his own tongue coming out and meeting mine. it circled around mine and I could feel our breath mixing together in the sweltering room. Sweat poured off of us and the room smelled like pure sex and desire. His thumb circled my clit faster, his other fingers splaying out against my tummy to keep his movements as steady as possible. We both became sloppy in our movements as we came closer and closer to the edge. It began building up inside me, growing higher and higher and higher.
"Oh God, Spencer, I'm gonna cum!" I whispered, leaning in and letting my lips ghost over his. He smiled and pecked my lips briefly before backing off.
"Cum baby... Cum for me..." He whispered, I finally let myself go. I clenched around him, riding out the best orgasm of my life on his cock.
"Ah! Ah! Ah! Oh my god!!!" I groaned. My toes curled and my eyes clenched shut as the white hot pleasure rolled through me.
"Fuck, (Y/n) you gotta set off or- oh fuck- oh fuck- I'm going to cum!" He groaned.
"Fuck, Spencer-! I don't care! Cum in me! Fucking cum in me! I fucking need it... Fuck, Spencer, please!" I begged.
"God, (Y/n), you can't talk to me like that... Are you- ah! Are you on the pill?" he asked, hurriedly.
"Yes, Spencer, fuck! Just fucking give it to me!"
"Oh God! (Y/n)! Fuck!" He pumped up into me, gritting his teeth. Finally, I felt him let go. Thick ropes of cum shot inside me... And I took it. I took it all. I needed it. I finally relaxed and I felt him do the same. I collapsed against his chest and he wrapped his arms around me, holding me against him tightly.
"My God, Spencer, that was... Oh my God, that was fucking amazing. You felt fucking amazing..." He chuckled into my hair. "What?" I asked.
"The woman I've had a crush on for years just begged me to cum inside her." I playfully smacked at his shoulder.
"And you did it..." I murmured.
"You're drunk..." He whispered.
"True... But I regret nothing."
"Good... Because neither do I."

epilogue outfit descriptions
i finally looked at the item descriptions of gale's epilogue outfit and they're so cute:
embroidered ensemble a delicately-embroidered outfit inspired by the decorative spine of sharro's 'a sommelier's guide to the forgotten realms.'
i love how this not only ties into gale's love for books (his library in his tower in waterdeep, wooing the protag with a book in his act 2 romance scene, enchanting his camp clothes to smell like a library, among many other instances) with gale (presumably) commissioning an outfit based on the binding of a book, but it also highlights his love for wine:
(Gale: Sembian wine, Cormyrian ball, Waterdhavian conversation. It's the little things you miss while on the road.
Gale: I have a cat, a library, and a weakness for a good glass of wine.
etc, etc, etc)
i think it's very cute to imagine him going to a tailor in waterdeep with the book in question in hand, showing them the decorative spine of it, and asking for an ensemble inspired by it.
elegant slippers these bejewelled slippers were made for sipping good wine among even better company.
i just really love this for gale, someone who is so gregarious and full of love, after so long of being isolated and alone, during what was arguably the worst time of his life.
he goes from:
Player: You don't have any friends? Gale: Sadly not. If I'm being entirely honest, my social circle is rather small. More of a dot. Or a pinhead. Gale: I've got aquaintances, certainly. Plenty of colleagues. But friends? Those are precious indeed. Gale: I hope, though we've only known each other for a short time, I might be able to count you among that number?
Player: You must have been lonely, with only Tara for company... Gale: Sometimes. But I imposed it upon myself, after all. I set up enough wards to keep an army at bay, never mind the few colleagues who sought to inquire about my welfare. Gale: Tara did her best to keep my spirits up, of course, but there's only so much one tressym can make up for one's entire social circle. And she was often gone seeking items to treat my condition. Gale: You're the first person I've spent any significant time with in a year or more. Spending time in your company, I realise that I may have left behind the greater part of my wit, and sensitivity, in my tower.
to having companions and friends and (potentially) a partner, who love him just as much as he loves them, who are excited to reunite with him and spend precious time in each other's company.

Defrosted
Characters: Mycroft Holmes x reader
Summary: After a grueling day, you return home, weary and stressed. But behind closed doors, the icy, calculating Mycroft Holmes melts for you alone, showing a rare tenderness.
Word Count: 1291 words
A/N: This is a mixture of requests from @anonymousmarvelfan, @howaboutlunch, @savvy-devine666, @but-hey-could-be-satan. It’s been sitting in my WIP file for a while, so I hope the final version is what you were hoping for.
The London air bit sharply through the autumn night as you pushed the door open, peeling off your damp coat with a sigh that held the weight of the day’s troubles. Exhaustion clung to you like a heavy cloak, your thoughts dulled by the long hours of tense meetings and endless paperwork. A familiar chill hung in the air, reminding you of the looming winter and the comfort of the warmth inside your home.
And then there was Mycroft.
You found him in the sitting room, seated in his usual armchair by the fire, a thick book in his hands and his brow knitted in concentration. The firelight danced over his angular features, casting shadows that softened the harsh lines of his face. He glanced up at the sound of your entrance, his expression still the practiced neutrality he wore like armor, yet there was a flicker of something warmer in his gaze.
"My dear," he greeted, voice smooth and unperturbed. “You’re home late.”
The corners of your lips lifted into a weary smile as you approached him, sinking into the sofa opposite his chair. “Yes, well, not everyone can be as fortunate as the British government’s top strategist. Some of us still have to suffer through rush-hour traffic and unreasonable supervisors.”
A small, wry smile tugged at his lips. "Indeed. I suppose not everyone can delegate quite so effectively." He closed his book with a quiet thud, setting it aside on the mahogany side table. “You look exhausted.”
You gave a noncommittal hum, your body sagging against the cushions. “That’s one way to put it. It’s just been… one of those days.”
He rose to his feet with the kind of languid grace that spoke of countless years perfecting even the smallest of movements, as if the very act of standing could be an art form. His gaze swept over you, and in the quiet moments that followed, the transformation began—the slow thawing of the ice around him.
"Wait here," he instructed softly, before disappearing down the hallway.
When he returned, he was carrying a pair of fluffy slippers, the ones you kept tucked away at the back of the closet. He knelt before you, an unexpected gesture that pulled you from your fatigue-induced haze, and with the same careful precision he applied to everything else in life, he slipped them onto your feet. His fingers brushed against your skin, and you could swear you felt the faintest spark of warmth where they touched.
"Come," he said, standing again and extending a hand towards you. "Dinner is nearly ready."
You allowed him to lead you into the dining room, where the rich aroma of a simmering meal filled the air, the scent of garlic, rosemary, and roasted vegetables weaving together in an enticing blend. On the table sat two place settings, a bottle of your favorite wine, and a dish covered to keep the heat trapped inside. It was a sight that instantly made the day’s stress seem like a distant memory.
"You cooked?" you asked, incredulous as you took in the scene.
"I’m fully capable of following basic culinary instructions," he replied dryly, though there was a trace of amusement in his eyes. "Now sit, and allow me the rare pleasure of serving you."
The meal was simple but delicious—a roasted chicken, golden potatoes, and seasoned vegetables, paired perfectly with the deep, velvety wine. Mycroft poured your glass first, as he always did, with the kind of etiquette that had become second nature to him.
As you ate, the tension slowly ebbed from your muscles, replaced by a gentle warmth that spread through you, not just from the meal or the fire, but from the quiet intimacy of sharing this moment. Mycroft, usually terse and preoccupied, allowed himself to relax, his features softening as he listened to your accounts of the day. He commented occasionally, offering wry observations that made you laugh and rolled his eyes at the absurdity of office politics.
When you had finished, he was already ahead of you, standing to clear the dishes before you could insist on doing it yourself. "None of that, now," he chided. "You are under strict orders to relax."
As he moved about the kitchen, he carried himself with the same air of precision, each step purposeful, each motion refined. You observed him as he worked, feeling the familiar flutter in your chest. It wasn’t often that you were graced with this side of Mycroft Holmes—the attentive partner who pampered and doted, albeit in his own way. It was a side that the rest of the world would never see. To them, he was the British government, a man of intellect and authority wrapped in a cold, imposing exterior. But to you, he was something more—someone who had learned to defrost in the presence of love.
When he returned, his sleeves rolled up and his usual sternness tempered by the gentleness in his gaze, he reached for your hand. "Come," he said, his voice softening. "There’s something else I’d like to show you."
He led you to the bathroom, where a bath had already been drawn, the surface of the water shimmering with fragrant oils and surrounded by the glow of a dozen flickering candles. The warmth of the room wrapped around you like a blanket, chasing away the last remnants of the chill that had clung to you all day.
Mycroft’s hands moved to remove your clothing with a practiced ease that spoke of the years you had shared together. “You’ve earned this,” he murmured against your ear, his breath warm on your skin. "Now, enjoy it."
Once you were immersed in the bath, the heat soaking into your tired muscles, he did not leave as you expected. Instead, he took a seat on the nearby stool, his long fingers deftly massaging your temples, trailing down the back of your neck, tracing a line of warmth along your spine. It was a kind of care you knew he would never show to anyone else, a private language spoken only in the sanctuary of your shared life.
For a man so famously detached, his touch held a surprising amount of tenderness. It was as though the very act of tending to you brought him some unspoken peace, a quiet satisfaction that no position or title could grant him.
"Mycroft," you whispered, your voice thick with emotion. "Thank you. For everything."
His hand stilled, and for a moment, you wondered if you had broken some unspoken rule by being so candid. But then he leaned forward, his lips pressing a chaste kiss to your damp forehead. "You’re welcome, my dear," he replied, his voice a low murmur. "Though, as you well know, I do not do these things out of some obligation. I do them because…" He trailed off, and there was a pause before he continued. "Because love, real love, is seeing all the flaws, the scars, the weariness—and choosing to stay. Something I know you do each and every day.”
You gazed up at him, and in his pale eyes, you saw the quiet promise of a man who had found his heart’s refuge in you. It wasn’t a grand declaration or an ostentatious display of affection—it was something far more enduring. It was the gentle unraveling of the formidable man before you, a defrosting that came not with time, but with trust.
As the water cooled and the candles burned low, you knew that no matter how many long days or bitter nights lay ahead, there would always be this—this shared sanctuary where the warmth of Mycroft’s quiet love would be enough to melt away the chill of the world outside.
