Doing a project for RSA about a pressing matter that I have been passionate about since living as a designer in Glasgow. The project centres around finding ways that we can make cycling accessible for the aging population. So here is my potential solution and it seems like it’s about getting people to have confidence so how might we encourage confidence in people... The City Chambers or Municipal Buildings of Glasgow is the headquarters of Glasgow City Council since 1996. Located in George Square, it was built purposely for municipal government of the city since 1889. It has Victorian civic architecture, constructed by William Young between 1882 to 1888. It was inagurated by Queen Victoria. - (28/09/2017) #glasgow #glasgowcitychambers #glasgowcitycouncil #georgesquare #scotland #uk #greatbritain #instaglasgow #europe #eurotrip #latepost #throwback #ongooglemaps #victorianarchitecture #instascotland (at Glasgow City Chambers)

We came back to them squeezing into disabled space had the audacity to demand if we had a badge. Then verbally abused me. Refusing to move till on here then became very quiet. This happens all the time because there’s no penalty for parking in these spaces if we have to apply for them, qualify for them through multiple medical etc then the council ‘award’ the space then how can it not be enforced. I get the feeling this guy the sticky one works for the Glasgow City council he became very quiet almost sheepishly so when he realised he was being filmed before that he was happily effing and blinding at the top of his voice. His friend was quite happy to be filmed though. It was distressing to say the least and they aren’t the only ones who think they have a first come first served right to spaces anyone with a blue badge does. Why are those who are supposedly being looked after by those in authority left to deal with this? A Pontious Pilate attitude if ever there was one!@policescotlandofficial @glasgowcitycouncil @disabilityawareness

Glasgow Man Caged For Shouting At Burglar
by Danny SoZ
A Glasgow man was given two consecutive life sentences yesterday after being found guilty of shouting loudly at a burglar who had broken into his home in the early hours of the morning in December last year.
Tobias McDell, a postman from Govan with no previous convictions, wept in the dock as the sentence was handed down by Mr Justice Mockery, who recommended that he should serve the full life term with no prospect of parole. In his address to the court, Justice Mockery said: "Society in general and the criminal fraternity, in particular, deserve a long rest from your activities. You are quite clearly a ruthless and callous man who is prepared to go to any lengths to inflict suffering and distress on anyone you perceive as a threat to your property or wife and children". The court previously heard that McDell 68, had been woken by a noise at his terraced council home and after arming himself with a rolled-up copy of The Daily Record, had gone downstairs to investigate. He saw James "Jimmy The Cat" Biggs, a convicted housebreaker with over 200 previous convictions for petty theft and assault, rifling through his sideboard. McDell then called out in a loud agitated voice "Oi, what do you think you're doing? Get out!", whereupon Biggs pistol-whipped Groves to the ground, fracturing his skull in 3 places, before making his escape through a window that he'd smashed to gain entry. Biggs was later found drinking heavily in a nearby public house by police officers who topped up his pint and gave him a packet of 20 Senior Service. The arresting officer, PC James Carter, stated: "Mr Biggs was in an absolutely shocking condition when I spotted him in the public bar of The Bunch Of Grapes public house in Maryhill. "He looked visibly drunk and was very unsteady on his feet. Clearly, the trauma of being shouted at by McDell that night had taken a terrible toll on him. Myself and a fellow officer, WPC Jackson, tried to comfort him and bought him a fresh pint and a pack of 20 cigarettes to steady his nerves. "At this point, he broke down and told us of the terrible events of that evening. "We immediately called for backup, and along with a number of officers in full riot gear, we smashed our way into McDell's house where we found him quite blatantly lying unconscious on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood with a gaping head wound as if he didn't have a care in the world. It was chilling to witness to be perfectly honest". The convicted man's wife and children were in hiding at a secret address last night to avoid being targeted by furious local vigilante groups.

Five reasons why Glaswegians are better than the rest:
Glaswegians are great. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. At times of hardship we come together like a family. At times of triumph we put on a hell of a party. And in times of sadness we mourn together. Glasgow is the centre point for protests and demonstrations in Scotland. If something […]…

Why not use the pavement as well!! This person doesn’t only take the space applied for and allotted to the owner of the blue badge who live here, but also has decided to use half the pavement as well. Is this a dumped joy ride or just someone with no idea how to drive? I don’t know it is always the same here these spaces are not respected and it’s time someone did something about it. The blue badge holders have been examined and interrogated continually we have to prove ourselves qualified for the badge which then may MAY get us a parking bay outside our residence where we & the DWP require it to be what happens when some selfish guy comes along and takes that space ? NOTHING TO THEM but to the person with the right to that space RIGHT because they applied for it and were allotted that space they have to find another space much farther away if at all in the same street here! Then they have to somehow get whatever shopping they have in that car back before it spoils. If they have someone with them able bodied that may not be such a problem IF they have no- one to help them they are then stuck. What does the council care? What does the #scottishgovernment care? What do the #scottishpolice say? What do the @scottishdailyrecord or @dailyexpressuk or @eveningtimes or any of the papers say - nothing because as usual the disability issue is a poisoned chalice it seems. Once those bays are allotted and painted the @glasgowcitycouncil wash their hands of it. Not their problem not at all they don’t even maintain the bay unless the blue badge holder asks for it to be repainted ( as when it gets less than pristine that’s when they all decide it’s not in use any more!) so we the disabled many of whom use wheelchairs and other aids yes but so many don’t should we all hang signs around our necks, ring a bell and announce our disability? Why is the onus on us to prove our needs? Why is there no legislation for the provision of residential disabled parking bays? (at Electric Tattoos)

@glasgowcitycouncil we are blamed for the mess in the bin sheds. The crows get in when the bins are full and they haven’t been emptied because your representatives say they can’t get in though we see them pass us by and there’s no buzzer going off so we can’t let them in if they don’t buzz. Maybe you could think about access via the back there are gates at the back of all the gardens. Then rubbish like this would not have to go through the close ( where it falls out and is not picked up) and there is no need for anyone to let the bin men in

They've now been parked there for 24hrs or more. The car that should be parked there had to be left about 1/2 a mile away last night and then when a space became available it's still too far away. @glasgow.life @glasgowcitycouncil @thesnp @scotparl @disabilityawareness @disability_discrimination so many thoughtful people in the world
