Starter for @themultiversebundle - Shadow Man

"I'm gonna need you to stop right there and explain what you're doing around here."

The Gizoid stood in front of the lab, feeling a bit on edge. It didn't help that the robot before him was giving off many different readings... particularly Gizoid readings. It had him on edge.

So he wasn't even built - he was found and repaired by Wily? Improved, he put it. There was silence from the Gizoid as he tried to process this information. "...Then maybe it is possible that you're not what you think you are," he remarks, stepping forward.

"There's a few different ways to tell that you're a Gizoid... but there's one surefire way. We were war machines designed to copy our opponents skills and use them in battle. So, if you're really one of us..."

It was at that moment that Gemerl held out his hand in a motion indicating he was going to snap his fingers. "Let's see if you pick up on this one." Somehow, despite being metal, Gemerl snaps his fingers. Making sure not to actually hit Shadow Man, a burst of Chaos Energy explodes between the two of them. It's large enough to cause damage though, that's for sure.

Chaos Magic. An ability he learned from Shadow, funny enough. It's become a favorite of the Gizoid's abilities in recent years.

"Nocturnus..." Another familiar thing that just felt right out of reach. It was starting to really annoy the Robot Master. "From what Wily has told me, he found my body in some old ruins and decided to fix and improve me."

There was a bit of a hum. There had always been silly rumors that Shadow Man was actually a stardroid. A robot from another planet. Shadow had done his best to ignore them, but he always knew in the back of his head that something about that didn't sound wrong.

"I've never seen a Gizoid where I'm from. I don't think Wily would even know what that is." A mystery was here and Shadow didn't find it fun. "It seems silly but if you think I'm a Gizoid perhaps..." Was he one? "Do you think there's a way to confirm it? I mean other than the signals we're giving each other."

He was obviously a bit skeptical about this whole thing, but he couldn't exactly make the claim that anything Shadow Man was saying was a lie... even if that name was a mouthful... in a manner of speaking. Still, he'd heard a few things about this Wily guy through Tails' multiversal travels, so this at least made a little sense.

"...Gemerl," he states. "The Last Gizoid created by the Nocturnus Clan over four thousand years ago, once a war machine... now trying to right the wrongs of his creators.

"Usually, I would say that I'm the Last Gizoid... but unless you're an old, heavily modified Nocturnus model like myself, seems this Wily guy may have a means of making his own. Not sure how much I like that prospect."

This robot was asking a lot of questions, and Shadow wasn't quite sure how much information he wanted to share - or could share. But it felt like there was answers here that he had been waiting for.

"I'm designated as DWN 024 Shadow Man." It wasn't like people didn't recognize him as a Wilybot at this point. Usually anyway. "I'm a Robot Master made by Doctor Albert Wily." There was a pause as he gave a frown. "Maybe 'made' isn't the correct word here..."

After all, Wily didn't make Shadow Man from scratch. "...rescued. I was rescued by Doctor Wily." That seemed more correct.

"I don't believe you have yet to identify yourself."

Gemerl was quiet. This could mean any number of things - was Gemerl a target? Did this "robot master" feel the same pull that he had and followed it here? The fact was that if this guy didn't know what it was he came here for, then it was that much harder to trust him.

...And yet.

He lowers the arm cannon, having it revert back to an arm. "...Let's start over, then. Who are you? You said you followed a unique signal... you don't look like a typical Gizoid though. Where'd you come from, and were you sent here by anyone?"

Shadow's eyes narrow at the cannon. He had fought others with similar weapons before, but only one had ever destroyed him completely. Didn't mean he wasn't cautious about the situation. "I'm a Robot Master not a..."

No wait, that didn't seem right. This was starting to frustrate him and it was easy to see on his face. Whatever usual stoic look he took on wasn't here at this moment. Did he know what a Gizoid was? Some part wanted to say yes but no information from his systems was coming up.

Could robots get headaches?

"I came here because I thought I sensed a unique signal that felt... familiar. But I wasn't sure what it was until just now." His eyes stared the other down for a moment. "I believe I was looking for you? I'm... not quite sure why though."

"Then you're gonna need to be more forthcoming than that," the Gizoid snaps. "Else we're gonna have a big problem. You don't look like the standard model, but you SCREAM Gizoid, and I'm not letting you set one foot in this lab until I get some answers."

An arm cannon would form around his right arm - it's not aimed at Shadow Man, but it's clear he's ready to use it if needed.

"Start talking or leave, I don't care which."

What he was doing here? Honestly he hadn't known why he had wandered this way at first. It had felt like a strange pull, that he was starting to realize came from the robot in front of him. Honestly if he had known that he would've snuck around better.

Hazy memories buzzing around at the edges of his programming. Still unsure what they were.

"I'm..." How did he explain this? "...looking for something."
