WRIOTHESLEY
It was a cold day in Fontaine and Christmas wasn’t far off. Just a little over a week and you’d be able to spend your first holiday together with Wriothesley. You already bought all the Christmas presents and had your bags packed to spend Christmas over at his place.
The presents still sat neatly packaged below the beautifully decorated Christmas tree in your living room. But they wouldn’t stay there for much longer as you had agreed to come over today and stay until Christmas. So the presents needed to be relocated as well.
You were beyond ecstatic to finally see him again. Especially since he even took some time off work as well to spend it with you.
Loaded with your bags and gifts you enthusiastically knocked on his door and it was soon opened by the man himself. He was wearing a cozy hoodie and sweatpants and looked like he had just woken up from a nap. At least judging by the pillow imprint on his cheek.
Cute, you thought.
“Hi, sleepy head. Enjoying your time off?” You greeted him teasingly, pressing a quick peck to his lips before squeezing inside past him.
You quickly kicked off your shoes and impatiently waddled behind him, following him into the living room. You were curious to see how Wriothesley had decorated his home for the holidays, so when his back left your field of view and you could finally see the room you saw…
Nothing.
Not even a single Christmas light could be found in his house. There was no Christmas tree, no Christmas cookies on the coffee table, no cozy candles, no ornaments or stockings, no nothing.
“Do you want a cup of tea?”, Wriothesley asked, gently taking your face in between his big warm hands.
“Uuuh…”
Your initial smile faltered pretty much immediately after you had taken in the utterly unfestive atmosphere and he seemed to have immediately noticed it, too.
“Is something wrong?” He inquired with a hint of concern in his voice.
“Where is the Christmas decoration?” You asked baffled. “You know Christmas is only a couple of days away, right?”
Now it was his turn to usher an awkward ‘uuuh’. He quickly glanced over his shoulder, scanning the room, before apologetically looking back at you with an expression that said ‘Sorry, it slipped my mind’.
“Well, uhm.. To be frank, I’m rarely ever here over the holidays so I don’t really… own any Christmas decorations.” He explained with a shrug and donned an embarrassed smile and scratched the back of his head. “Neither have I ever celebrated Christmas properly since I usually just work.”
“No no. This absolutely won’t do.” You lifted your finger up to his face in playful protest. “Go put on some clothes, we’re going shopping. We’re absolutely not celebrating Christmas before every nook and cranny in this house is looking festive and is covered in glitter.” You announced with determination, already marching towards the main entrance again to put your shoes back on.
“Right now? He inquired in surprise.
“Right now.” You quickly confirmed. “And I pick the decorations – you pay.” You declared, putting your hands on your hips while glaring at him reprimandingly.
“Hey, wait a second! I never agreed to that.” He protested weakly, crossing his arms over his chest. But his smirk betrayed his real thoughts – he was enjoying this playful banter as much as you were.
“Well, too bad. You don’t get a say in this. Now come on, shopping time.”
Not even half an hour later and wrapped in your warm winter clothes, you found yourselves walking along the streets of Fontaine. It had already gone dark and a couple of snowflakes danced in the yellow light of the street lanterns. The shops by the road were all decorated with an abundance of Christmas lights and the air carried the fragrant smell of cinnamon and mulled wine.
You looked up to Wriothesley, who was walking hand in hand with you, while window shopping. When he noticed your glance his lips curled into a loving smile that was barely visible behind the gigantic red scarf that he had wrapped around his neck. His cheeks and nose were reddened by the cold and the snowflakes that got caught in his hair only emphasized how adorable he looked.
You dragged him into some stores that you knew sold various knick-knacks and decorations and bought what felt like an entire months salary worth of Christmas decorations. Although, despite all that, he somehow still managed to leave more money at his trusted tea store on the way back home.
Back at his house you quickly unpacked everything that you bought and got to work. While Wriothesley put up the Christmas tree you made sure not a single curtain rod, windowsill, and table was without any Christmas lights or candles. As soon as that was done you helped him put the red and gold glass ornaments on the tree.
All that was missing now was the big golden star tree topper that you attempted to hand to him, so that he could put it up on the tree himself. But before you had any chance to do so, he had already snuck both of his muscular arms around your waist and hoisted you up so you could stick it on yourself.
Once back on steady ground you looked around and marveled at your finished work. Everything was enveloped by a cozy light from all the Christmas lights and it looked even better than you had imagined. This would definitely do!
“I think we got everything.” You announced cheerfully, leaning your head against his broad chest and glancing at the tree to your left.
“Hmm.” Wriothesley hummed contemplatively, his chest vibrating against your ear as he did. “I think one thing is still missing.”
“Huh? What did we miss?” You lifted your head with a questioningly raised brow.
He fumbled around behind his back with a mischievous smirk plastered across his face. You knew that expression all too well by now – he was up to something.
You watched as he pulled out a little green twig with a red ribbon. You were barely even able to identify it as a mistletoe before he had already lifted it up into the air and held it over both of your heads. His free hand quickly found comfort around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
Within the blink of an eye, his lips sealed yours with a passionate kiss, knocking the breath right out of you. You leaned into him with a giggle and felt him smile into the kiss in return.
In an attempt to be even closer to him than you already were, your hand found comfort in his soft raven-colored hair. Reciprocating the sentiment, he snaked the arm he had held up over you around your midriff as well, hugging you impossibly tighter.
While leaning his forehead against yours and softly rubbing the tip of your noses together, he looked deep into your eyes with the same sly smirk he had donned earlier, before proudly declaring: “Now we’ve got everything.”

ALHAITHAM
With packed suitcases, you and Alhaitham crossed the bridge to your hometown Mondstadt. It was snowing heavily and the cold, biting wind was gnawing away at every sliver of exposed skin. It felt like icy needles were pricking at your face.
It was peacefully quiet and all that could be heard was the crunch of the thick snow below your boots. You watched how the snowflakes danced in the wind and how they got caught in the ashen hair and lashes of Alhaitham, who was walking by your side.
Looking at him in this kind of weather was almost comical. He was used to the humid and hot temperatures of the rainforest and had never really experienced the bitter cold of winter. He was treading carefully, trying his hardest not to slip on the frozen ground. His head was almost entirely hidden underneath the big wool scarf he had wrapped around his head as if he had tried to mummify himself with it. His nose and cheeks were reddened from the cold and you could faintly make out the chatter of his teeth.
It would almost be adorable if he didn’t have the expression of someone who was about to murder the next person who spoke to him.
You bit your tongue to hold back a teasing comment about how he couldn’t handle the cold and instead opted to hold onto his hand that was rather stiffly dangling by his side. He glanced at you over the mountain of a scarf he had wrapped around his neck and immediately saw his expression ease up a little. His brows relaxed became less furrowed and the corners of his mouth twitched upward ever so slightly.
“We’re almost there.” You reassured, which was only met with a slightly grumpy-sounding hum of acknowledgment.
Not long after you arrived at the Tavern. You picked up your room keys and quickly shuffled upstairs to settle down.
Alhaitham quickly kicked off his boots once he sat on the bed and hissed in pain. His toes were borderline glowing in red and blue hues and he wasn’t wearing any socks either. Needless to say, he was wearing his usual boots with the hole at the top. Clearly, everyone could see that they weren’t fit for conditions like these whatsoever.
“You know, these boots are kind of impractical for this weather.” You remarked snarkily. And if looks could kill you would’ve dropped dead on the spot right now.
“Don’t look at me like that!” You shot back before he could usher a word of protest. “You agreed to spend the holidays in Mondstadt after all.”
“And you didn’t think to inform me about all that before we departed?”
“Well, I thought a smart man like you would know that when I said there would be snow in Mondstadt you would naturally conclude that ‘frozen water equals cold’” You remarked in the same snarky tone.
You both looked at each other for a couple of seconds in an intense staring battle. The frown prominent on Alhaitham’s face as he desperately tried to warm his feet with his warm hands. Although eventually, your pokerfaces started showing cracks. The twinkle that started to show in both of your eyes, a twitch of the corner of his mouth, a giggle that was stuck at the back of your throat that you tried to swallow. All of them were telltale signs that your playful argument was about to end in a fit of chuckles, like so often.
And as if on call, you both started laughing out loud at the same moment.
Alhaitham pulled you closer by your hands and you sat down on his lap, facing in his direction. You buried your face in the crook of his neck and slung your arms around him, which he mirrored.
“You’re stupid.” You exclaimed, pressing a quick peck on the exposed skin on his neck.
“Oh, am I now?” He retorted smugly, raising one eyebrow.
“Well, I’m not the one who wore boots with gaping holes in them when there are five inches of snow outsi–” Before you were able to finish the sentence, he quickly began loosely wrapping his thick scarf around your face, effectively shutting you up.
“Rude.” You giggled, muffled by the thick fabric. “Now–” You began, once you had pulled his scarf off your face again. “How about we take a hot bath and then go and visit the Christmas market?”
You could see his eyes wander towards the window. He skeptically eyed the thick snowflakes that were still falling from the sky. Anyone would be able to tell that he really didn’t want to go outside anymore, at least not in this weather.
“I know it’s freezing, but – if we go out, we can go buy you a pair of warm boots and I also know just the thing to fight the cold.” You intercepted before he could usher any words of protest. And after a brief moment of hesitation, he agreed with a loving smile.
After a steaming hot bath, you both found yourself back outside again. Not long after Alhaitham also waded through the thick snow with his newly acquired cozy and warm leather boots and some additional heat-insulating wool socks. He already looked a lot more comfortable than he had when you arrived here.
You walked in the direction of the Christmas market that was being held at the feet of the statue of the Anemo Archon, in front of the cathedral.
Hand in hand you climbed the stairs up to the plaza. You could already make out the Christmas spices that wafted through the air before you could even see the first booth. And with every step you took your excitement got bigger and bigger. Your heart was thumping loudly inside of your chest and you felt an excited prickle in the pit of your stomach. The last time you were at a Christmas market was ages ago, so you were practically bursting with excitement.
Once you arrived at the top of the stairs, you headed straight for the stand of the Dawn Winery, dragging Alhaitham along with you excitedly. You could already make out the prominent scent of mulled wine and several other hot beverages. No matter how cold the winter was, a cup of mulled wine was always the best thing to warm one up from the inside out.
You bought two mugs of steaming hot spiced dandelion wine and handed one to Alhaitham. He skeptically took a sip, unsure about whether or not hot wine would taste as good as the stuff he was so used to. But when his eyes widened and a surprised hum escaped him you could only chuckle. You had expected this reaction.
“You didn’t lie, this really helps against the cold.” He remarked after taking a couple more sips from his mug.
“See! I told you so. And as you know, I’m always right.” You teased, to which he just rolled his eyes and huffed amusedly. “Don’t you dare say anything now, Haitham.”
He stepped closer to you, embracing you in a tight hug and pressing a quick kiss to your forehead.
“You know, you’re lucky you’re so cute, or else–”, he paused dramatically, not intending to finish his sentence any time soon.
“Or else, what?” You asked, perking your eyebrows.
But Alhaitham had already ventured off to look at the market stalls with a smirk plastered on his lips. He just knew which buttons he needed to press to tease you. And clearly, you wouldn't be getting an answer out of him either.
“Dork.” You huffed, hurrying after him, interlocking your arm with his, leaning your head on his shoulder as you walked around the plaza with your warm mugs in hand.

DILUC
Christmas time was always the busiest time of the year for the Winery and the Tavern. Diluc was basically shipping out orders all day when he wasn’t at the Angel’s Share. During these times you always made sure to help him alleviate some of the stress by taking some work off his hands.
Today you filled in for someone at the Christmas Market stand of the Dawn Winery who fell ill. Your job was to man the booth for the mulled wine and punches and serve them to customers.
It was the last weekend before Christmas and therefore the Christmas Market was packed to the brim. You barely got any time to take a break and only noticed that it was time to close up shop as soon as Diluc stood before you.
He helped you serve the last remaining customers and clean up the booth before you both started making your way back home to the Winery.
It had already gone dark outside now and the Christmas lights on the windowsills of the houses by the streets wrapped the environment into a warm light.
Diluc’s hand that was intertwined with yours was comfortably warm like it always was. You could feel it even through your thick gloves.
Both were a stark contrast to the thick snow that crunched below your boots and the cold icy air that pricked at your skin. Every exhale created a little cloud of icy mist in front of your face.
Diluc squeezed your hand a little tighter all of a sudden and nudged his head towards the left, motioning you to follow along.
“Come with me.” He urged, an excited smile playing around his lips.
He led you out of the side gate of Mondstadt, near the Angel’s Share, and headed straight for the frozen lake. He let go of your hand and right in the next moment he was already slithering across the ice with a huge smile plastered on his face
“What are you doing?” You inquired curiously, eyeing him from head to toe as he looked at you expectantly. He stretched one hand out while putting the other behind his back, making him look unbelievably elegant.
“Join me!”
The way he had slithered across the ice had looked so graceful and almost easy. But you had the inkling it wouldn’t end up being as easy as he made it look.
The way the snowflakes peacefully danced around you both in the yellow light of the nearby lantern made this scene almost feel dreamlike.
There was a comfortable silence in the air right now. As if the Gods had draped a white blanket over the world that muffled everything but the most important sounds. Only yours and Diluc’s steady breathing could be heard, as well as the rustling of the snow-covered trees by the shore and the soft pitter-patter of the falling snowflakes.
You stepped closer to the frozen surface of the lake and carefully put one foot on it to test the waters – or more accurately: the ice. And as expected it was extremely slippery and you almost fell the second you tried standing on it.
Diluc had come closer again and wrapped both his hands around your waist to steady you on the ice. He took hold of your hands and carefully pulled you along with him for a few meters.
It looked like he was floating over the ice while you looked like a newborn foal that was trying to stand up for the first time in its life. Your knees were shaking and you tried your hardest to not lose your balance. But despite that the mere presence of Diluc made you feel safe.
“Why are you so good at this?” You inquired curiously, almost losing your balance once more.
“I used to do this every winter as a child. Whenever my father caught me he scolded me for what felt like hours because I could hurt myself. Although that never deterred me from doing it again every winter.” He explained amusedly as his ruby-red eyes began shimmering in the dim light of the lantern.
“Well then, is there some special technique to it? Because I feel like I’m going to fall on my butt the minute you let go of me.”
“I’ll simply not let go of you then.” He retorted with a smirk and you could feel how his grip on your waist tightened. “In all seriousness though, don’t bend your knees inward so much. Keep them straight and your soles flat on the ice. Then only bend your upper body forward a little bit.”
“Roger that.” You replied and did as he explained. And much to your surprise, you stance on the ice immediately felt a lot more safe. Your knees stopped shaking and you were able to stand somewhat comfortably now.
“Yes, just like that!”
“It works!” You exclaimed.
“Now, try moving your feet, while keeping this stance.” He instructed while slowly letting go of you, leaving you some room to move once he was sure you could stand on your own.
He demonstrated the movement to you and you followed him by mirroring them.
Not long after you were still insecurely but steadily moving across the ice.
“Look, I’m doing it!” You yelled excitedly, looking back at Diluc who was watching you with the utmost adoration in his eyes.
“Indeed you are.” He answered proudly as he joined you again, slithering behind you and putting his hands on your waist once more. He carefully pushed you along with him.
You twirled around on the ice with a giggle and it felt like you were two figure skaters in perfect unison, showcasing their breathtaking performance. Although you were sure it looked much more amateurish than it felt. No less, because you weren't actually wearing any ice skates. But at that moment, it didn't matter.
Both of you basked in each other's presence and it felt like you let your inner child run free. The endorphin rush was indescribable. You felt practically invulnerable.
You soon felt comfortable enough to do pirouettes on the ice all by yourself. You had found the right balance to move across the ice and could even move faster than you did before.
You let go of Diluc’s hand and started circling across the surface of the frozen lake. Faster and faster you slithered across the ice.
The problem came about when you wished to come to a halt again. You never asked Diluc how you were able to stop again once you had built some momentum.
And before you had the chance to ask him you slithered and fell face first into one of the big puffy snowbanks that had piled up at the shore.
Snow immediately covered you, got stuck in your hair, fell on your face, seeped into every crevice of your clothes, and made contact with your skin. The icy sensation felt like needles pricking at your skin.
You heard Diluc yell your name muffledly and could make out hurried slithers that came in the direction of where you had fallen. He worriedly pulled you up to your feet again by your hands, patting the snow off your clothes and hair softly.
“Are you alright? I'm so sorry I should've paid more attention. Did you hurt yourself?” He was fussing over you as if you had just fallen down a cliff instead of a bed of soft, albeit cold, snow.
You giggled at his worried expression and slung your arms around his neck, looking intensely at his beautiful eyes.
“I'm alright. Don't worry about me. Although maybe I'm a bit cold now – some snow crept its way into my clothes, I fear.” You pouted with a giggle.
He wordlessly took your hands in his and removed the gloves from your fingers, intertwining his warm ones with yours. You made out a faint flare from the vision on his hip before you felt warmth seep into every fiber of your body, warming you up from the inside out.
“Be careful or you'll melt me.” You teased with a wide smirk.
At that, he brought his face closer to yours, with an equally wide smile, before ushering: “Only your heart” against your lips, before passionately catching them into a deep kiss.

note: hello hello @umgatochamadopercyval !! i got you for the @2023gisecretsanta event 🫶 i got a little carried away so i’m very sorry for the word length 😭 either way, i hope you enjoy it MWAH <3 i had a lot of fun writing this for you !!
Tumblr media
When Barbara approached you asking if you’d like to be part of her Secret Santa event, you immediately agreed. She said she was going around inviting people she knew would be interested in participating.
You asked her who else had decided to participate in the event and she named a few others. Lisa, Kaeya, Sucrose, Venti, a few sisters from the Cathedral, Eury, Donna. All people you knew well since they constantly came to Good Hunter and you spoke to them while they waited for their food.
Barbara said she was still asking people to join. So once she had an even number, she’d go down a list and have them pick out a paper to see who their Secret Santa was. Everyone would get a month to find the gifts. Then, the gifts would be revealed at a Christmas party she was working on.
Nearly a week and a half after that, Barbara came rushing over to Good Hunter with a small bag in her hand. She was her usual cheerful self and more now since the Secret Santa event she planned out.
“(Y/N)! Do you have a moment?” Barbara asked, waving and standing near the side of the stall. She had been waiting to see when it would be available. Her smile showed just how excited she was.
“Give a second!” You said, smiling as well. After taking the current order and the customer went to sit down at one of the tables, Barbara approached. She showed off the small brown bag and you knew what she was hinting at. “How many people did you get to join?” You asked, making sure to wipe your hands clean.
“I got thirty people!” She said, holding the bag open. The number made your eyebrows raise. Barbara was very serious about this. You peered inside the bag. Small red and green sheets of paper were mixed together. The amount was smaller than what Barbara had said so you assumed she already went to some of the people.
You reached in, grabbing one of the slips at the bottom of the bag and pulled out a red slip. Barbara closed the bag once you got your person. She made sure the strings on the bag were tight so nothing would fall out.
“Could you check it to make sure you didn’t pull your own name?” She asked. You nodded your head.
“Of course!” You said, opening the slip of paper. You wondered whose name you ended up getting out of the bag. It would make shopping and searching for someone’s gift a fun experience. Hopefully it was Lisa. There were several new books you wanted to get for her and replace a few worn out books in her library. That was until you read the name of the person who would give you the most trouble searching for a gift.
Your smile faded slightly. In black ink, Barbara had written Diluc’s name on your slip. Her star and balloon drawn decorations on the paper made it more exciting than it actually was. Of all thirty people who decided to participate, you were the unlucky one stuck with Diluc. He wasn’t a bad person but you didn’t really know enough about him.
“Nope. Didn’t get my own name.” You said to Barbara, folding the paper in half again.
“Great! Thank you again for joining!” She exclaimed happily. “Remember not to tell anyone and you have a month from now.”
She waved before heading off. She needed to catch the rest of the people and hopefully finish this by the end of the day. As she sped towards the building of the Knights, you stared at her cursive handwriting.
The red haired male came into your mind. What were you going to get Diluc for Christmas? He was a reserved character. You couldn’t name a single thing he liked except grape juice. And there wasn’t anything else that stood out about him that would remind you of him.
For example, if it were Klee, you could have gotten her a new book bag or matching hats for her and Dodoco. Sucrose would be happy to get a new chemistry set. She definitely needed one after breaking a few beakers. Whereas Diluc… Nothing.
You started to think about certain gifts. Candles were a good option if that didn’t scream, ‘I don’t know you’. He never wore accessories. No rings, necklaces, or bracelets. Perhaps he didn’t like them but a hairpin from Liyue would be worth the trip. You let out a frustrated sigh, scratching the back of your head.
Was there anyone who knew what he liked that you could ask them?
Well, there were a few people. Now that you think about it, asking them probably isn’t a good idea either. Donna was off the table. You aren’t sure how far her title as a fan of Diluc’s went. And you also didn’t know if Barbara had asked her to be part of the event. That means Donna would definitely get jealous since you got the person she wanted.
Next was Kaeya. Asking him was fifty—fifty. He was rather sneaky and playful. Definitely the type of person to come up with a lie so you’d gift Diluc something he hated all because Kaeya wanted to mess with him. Or maybe you’d get the lucky half and he would be kind enough to actually say something his brother likes.
Then the people who worked for Diluc were also not a good choice. For one, you didn’t know them well enough to know if they’d keep this a secret. Two, they probably didn’t know Diluc well enough to tell you what he liked or disliked the most.
You were already stressed out, even if you had an entire month. You carefully stuffed the slip of paper into the front pocket of your apron. Thankfully, you were going on your break soon. You tapped your fingers on the countertop as you thought of what to do.
The worst idea yet came to your mind. You were just going to have to ask Diluc himself. You can't blurt out and reveal you got him for the Secret Santa event. Since your conversations with him are very brief, in order to do this, it needs to be in the most discreet manner possible. That way, it won’t make him get suspicious of you.
Tumblr media
“Diluc!” He heard his name being called. Instinctively, he looked over at the tavern entrance after passing a customer their drink. He saw you approaching the bar while smiling at him. “How are you?”
“(Y/N).” Diluc gave a curt nod and picked up an empty glass cup. You sat down on a stool, watching him clean the area for you with a wet rag. “It’s good to see you. I’m doing fine. I assume your shift has ended?” He motioned to your uniform. You occasionally came to Angel’s Share when you were off the clock. It was just to relax for a few minutes and socialize before heading home for the day.
“I’m on my break right now.” You said. You scouted the first floor to see who was here. The floor was nearly deserted, only consisting of the tavern’s usual customers. You turned back to Diluc, thinking about the slip with his name on it in your pocket. “What about you? Are you leaving soon?”
“No. I may be here all day.” Diluc said. You needed to make this worth the while. No way were you leaving the city to go all the way to the winery. “Charles wasn’t feeling well.”
He finished wiping down the counter and threw the rag over his shoulder. He didn’t have his coat on since the tavern was relatively warm. The weather outside was getting colder as the days went on.
“What can I get for you?” He asked.
“A berry and mint burst.” It was what you normally got whenever you paid a visit.
As Diluc grabbed one of the glasses to make your drink, you thought this would be a good time to ease into the conversation. He seemed concentrated on making your drink so he probably might not be too responsive. Either way, you needed to try.
“I feel like we don’t talk a lot.” You said, as Diluc poured the light blue liquid into the cup. He let out a confused hum at your statement and set the bottle back down. He stepped away from the counter, searching for the remaining ingredients that belonged in your drink.
“And what do you mean by that?” He sounded as intimidating and serious as he always did.
“We don’t talk a lot.” You said. He carefully pushed your drink in your direction. “I think we’re more acquaintances than friends. Don’t you?” You grabbed your drink in one hand.
Diluc rested on the counter as he narrowed his eyes at you. His gaze seemed to be studying you instead of being mad at something you said. The guy sitting next to you left a few Mora on the countertop and left the tavern. He also left behind two cups to be picked up and cleaned.
“I say the same, yes.” Diluc said, scooping the Mora on the wooden counter.
His responses are repeats of what you say. It makes it feel like he’s simply not interested in having a conversation. Plus, he is always seen with an uninterested expression. His personality is nowhere near Kaeya’s.
Getting Diluc to talk is harder than you thought. At this point, you wanted to be straightforward and admit what you were truly here for.
“What’s your favorite thing about yourself?” You suddenly asked. Too strong of a question. He would figure out what your intentions were by it. Diluc raised an eyebrow as he dried one of the cups with a different rag than the one from earlier.
“What’s my favorite thing about myself?” He repeated your question. He glanced down at the cup before turning around. He sorted it out with the stack of cups used by tavern customers. You heard him say the question again but much lower this time. Eventually, he crossed his arms, staring at the wall before giving his answer. “I love my long, luscious and luxurious red hair.”
“Wait— What?” You sputtered.
“I answered your question. My favorite thing about myself is my hair.” Diluc faced you. He had his normal stoic expression. Was he telling the truth or poorly executing a joke? You squint your eyes. Diluc’s hair was well taken care of. Out of all his features, his hair and the color of it stood out the most. The length of it also suited him. Diluc with short hair was like a nightmare. Maybe because he never wore it in any other style except his ponytail. “Is that not something I can say?”
“No, no,” You said, taking a sip from your drink. The minty taste made your eyes water. “I didn’t expect you to say that. I thought you would have said your eyes. Your hair is really pretty.”
He managed to make his hair look like silk. There had been times you were tempted to touch it. As you put your cup back on the wooden counter, you thought of your next question.
“How do you get your hair to look like that?” You placed your chin on the palm of your hand. Whatever routine he said, you might need to start using it.
“Slime condensate.” Diluc petted the tips of his hair. Your expression changed to one of disbelief. “It needs to be the thick hydro slimes from Inazuma. I like to get them from Watatsumi Island since the area is surrounded by water.”
You had to take some time to process what he said. The infamous Dawn Winery owner put slime in his hair to keep it “luscious” and “luxurious” at all times. You had never heard of anyone putting slime in their hair. You scratched the top of your head. Whenever Diluc said something new about himself, the idea of giving him a gift for this event seemed impossible.
That wasn’t the only time you went to Angel’s Share. You went back for an entire week, trying to pry information out of Diluc. There needed to be one thing he liked and was willing to share with you. The only problem with that was to have him stop talking about his hair.
“I love my hair color. Did you know it’s natural?”
“It’s so hard to keep it this soft. If the slime isn’t from Inazuma, my hair gets all tangled.”
“Cut it? No, I’d never cut it. I’ve been growing it out since I was a child. My father’s hair was exactly like mine.”
You didn’t take him as the narcissist type or the kind of person to be full of himself.
Your last hope at getting him a gift was what he used for his hair. Diluc let you know what the process to get the slime condensate was. He said it is called an extraction. It was harmless to the slimes. In order for this to happen, he or someone else would grab hold of a slime. As this is going on, the other person will begin to pluck out condensate from under the bottom part.
You weren’t going to make it to Inazuma and return to Mondstadt in time for the party.
Sara went with you to find Herta and ask her to send your commission over to Inazuma. She was a little skeptical at how overly specific but she said with enough Mora, someone over there would be willing to take up the challenge.
That was two weeks ago. The party was in a week from now. You started to panic. Did no one take up your commission? You asked Lumine to take an impromptu trip to Liyue and see what items you could find.
She agreed. The Honorary Knight protected you along the way. Thankfully, there weren’t any monsters that attacked you on your trip. Liyue had rarer beauties that cost a lot more. In the end, it was going to be worth it. You found the gift after hours of searching. This was reserved only if the condensate didn’t make it to Mondstadt on time.
“Pardon me,” A tall, unknown man approached since there wasn’t a line. You could tell he was from another region. He had a box underneath his arm. His white, puffy coat covered his entire body. The hood he had on covered the majority of his blue hair. With good reason. The cold weather this year was entirely different. At least you were near the fire. “My name is Kamisato Ayato. I’m looking for a lady by the name of (Y/N). She requested a commission in Inazuma.”
“That’s me.” You said.
“Ah, wonderful. This makes it all the much easier.” He placed the box on top of the counter. The gloves he was currently wearing were white while the inside had a sort of dark purple lining. He removed the hood from over his head, settling his hands on top of the mysterious box. “The person who did your commission told me to be very careful with it. He said he went out of his way to make it the very best.”
“Did you come all this way just to deliver it yourself?” You felt a little guilty but Ayato let out a chuckle.
“No, no. I’m the leader of the Yashiro Commission.” He waved his hand, “I’m in Mondstadt for the holidays. I thought it was a good idea to bring over your commission. That way you wouldn’t have to wait too long.” He patted the box before insisting you take it.
You pulled the box over, noticing how heavy it was.
“Anyway, everything has already been paid for on our end.” Ayato said, adjusting his coat. “I was also told to pass on a message to you. If you had any more… Specific commissions to be done in Inazuma, simply request for Arataki Itto. He’s more than willing to help.”
That must have been the guy who did your commission. You hope to meet him in person one day to thank him over and over for what he did.
“Thank you very much.” You flashed Ayato a smile. He did the same in return, “Enjoy your holidays and your stay in Mondstadt!”
“Thank you,” He bowed his head, “The same goes to you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be on my way.”
As soon as Ayato was gone, you decided it was a good idea to open the box. Your jaw dropped at the contents. It was a lot more than you had asked for. Considering what was given, you had definitely underpaid this Itto guy. Either he was a perfectionist or he was extremely reckless.
The jars of slime were actually much bigger than you expected. Maybe you should have been specific on that as well. How many hydro slimes on Watatsumi Island had to undergo an extraction to get all this condensate? Even though Diluc said the extraction process is not harmful for the slimes and they’re constantly growing, you’re starting to feel bad for them.
At least it arrived at a good time before the party. With the slime condensate here, your gift for Diluc was ready. But you had both items. There wasn’t any point in keeping the second gift for yourself. Maybe it would give you a hint on what Diluc likes. Hopefully next year, Donna was the one stuck with him instead of you.
Tumblr media
The party was being hosted at Angel’s Share. It was closed for the holiday and with his permission, Diluc allowed Barbara to have the party there. So long as she prepared all the decorations and food. He didn’t mind making the drinks since it would allow him to keep a better eye on Venti.
When you arrived, the ongoing scene was a bit of a mess. Barbara was apologizing profusely to someone. You recognized one of them. Ayato, the man from the other day. He laughed loudly when he noticed Barbara beginning to tear up. Next to him was a girl who had similar features. She chuckled softly when Ayato hugged Barbara and reassured her everything was fine. The girl had to be related to him.
“You’re here.” You heard Diluc’s voice. He had been at the bar but spotted you as soon as you came through the door. His eyes landed on the gift you were holding. “If you’d like, you can leave that over there. Barbara said we’ll open the gifts after eating and once everyone is here.” Diluc motioned to a round table in a corner. Several of the partygoers left their gifts either on the table or on the floor. Some were big, others small. You were curious to find out which one was meant for you.
“Okay, thanks.” You went over to the table and placed the gift next to one that was the same size. You weren’t about to carry that around all night. The glass jars were too heavy for that.
After you put your gift with the rest, you decided to join the rest of the crowd.
You found out that Kamisato Ayato was Diluc’s closest friend. He and his sister, Ayaka, came to Mondstadt to celebrate the holiday with Diluc. Last year, he was the one who went to Inazuma to visit the siblings. Barbara was apologizing because she didn’t know they would be here. And if she did, she’d prepare a gift so that neither would feel left out. They let her know it was an unforeseen event and she had no reason to apologize.
Bennett and Fischl were the last to arrive. Afterwards, Barbara asked everyone to come to the first floor and get their gifts so she could explain the rules. You placed yours underneath your chair. Jean sat next to you, keeping hers on her lap and making small talk about who she guessed you had.
The table in the corner was soon empty. Whoever went first, the person who received the gift would go next. So on and so on until all gifts were exchanged.
Donna decided to start the chain off. For an odd reason, she had two gifts. You all gave each other the same knowing look. One gift was meant for her Secret Santa and the other was obviously meant for Diluc. If anything, you were already aware she had selected a better choice in present for him. Except Barbara didn’t let her give it to him right away and told her to wait until everything was over.
She had Bennett. From Bennett, it went over to Klee. He had gifted the little girl a new backpack and a tiny one for Dodoco. Klee’s gift went to Razor. He might have been the happiest one from the night. Eventually the chain went around to Albedo who had just opened his gift from Lisa.
“For my Secret Santa, I got (Y/N).” Albedo handed you a wrapped box.
It had candy canes all over the paper and a giant bow on the top. You heard some rustling inside. You tore the wrapping paper off the sides. Removing it fully, you opened the box and your eyes widened in astonishment. Albedo had carefully packaged two glass cloches beside each other. They contained flowers sprouting on the inside. He went as far as adding grass to the base and making it seem like a small garden.
“I managed to find a way to preserve cecilias and glaze lilies.” He explained and helped you take one of them out to show everyone else. “I remember you said they’re your favorite flowers. These will never die even if you take the glass off of them. And you won’t need to water them either.”
“Thank you so much, Albedo!” You said, opening up one arm to give him a hug. He reciprocated the action. “And I love how you painted butterflies on the glass domes!”
“Actually, they’re called cloches.” Ayato corrected from across the room, making your attention go from Albedo to him. Ayaka ended up smacking his knee with her fan. The entire room let out a collective laugh at the two siblings bickering.
Your eyes drifted over to Diluc who sat next to the Kamisato siblings. It seemed like he already knew he was going to be next. Both of his hands are on his lap, waiting to get his gift. He was staring at you intently and tapping his gloved hand against his thigh. You set Albedo’s gift next to your chair with extra care.
“My gift is to Diluc.” You said. You slid out the wrapped box from underneath your chair. You had both your hands holding the bottom side of the box. Watching your step, you made your way to the other side of the room where Diluc was.
“Ah, this should be interesting.” Ayato said with a grin on his face. He shifted in his chair, body leaning towards his friend. He seemed more interested in the gift than the person who was receiving it.
“It’s heavy.” You said, nervously. You gently handed it over to Diluc.
“Thank you.” He took it in his arms and placed it on the floor between his feet. Ayato moved his chair closer to get a better view of what your gift to his best friend would be. Diluc waited until you sat back down in your chair. He began to unwrap the ribbon you’d tied around the entire box. He pulled on one edge of the lace, allowing it to unravel on its own.
After that was over, he lifted off the top of the box. You watched anxiously to see his reaction to your gift. When Diluc saw what was inside, a small smirk came on his lips. Meanwhile, Ayato scrunched up his eyebrows at the peculiar choice. He realized what the items were and why exactly your commission had been such a weird request.
Diluc kept the lid on his lap. He crouched over in his chair and pulled out one of the seven items inside.
In his hands, Diluc held a glass jar filled to the top with slime condensate. There wasn't only one in there. You had asked for a minimum of three jars in your commission and sent over enough Mora for their troubles. But, being the nice person he was, Itto decided to get you a total of—
“Six jars of slime condensate.” Diluc held it up in the air as if he was examining it. You started to feel a little embarrassed when he spun it around and showed it off the rest of the crowd. They each side eyed each other, wondering what kind of present that was. You actively avoided their gazes as they questioned your choice. Why did he have to start off with the worst gift? “I’m assuming they come from Watatsumi Island?” He said in a slight teasing tone.
Diluc’s lips twitched upwards when he glanced over at you. He shook the jar a little, the slime bouncing around. It clinked against the other jars as he carefully set it back into the gift box. Next, he moved onto the second gift. Right beside all of the six jars was a dark red jewelry box. It had a geo symbol carved on the top which Diluc knew you got it from Liyue.
He placed it on his lap and cautiously opened it since he wasn’t sure of what was inside. Inside, the box had a black velvety texture. It had two separate sections. Ayato heard his friend let out a small snicker before composing himself and turning it around for the remaining partygoers to see.
“It’s a matching hairbrush and a hair comb.” Diluc said.
Both the brush and comb were designed to be the same. They had been marbleized with red and gold. What stood out the most was the hair comb. The accessory had been made to resemble a phoenix. Its wings were outstretched and the beak pointed upwards. If placed in the hair correctly, it was supposed to give off the illusion the phoenix was flying.
“Oh, how beautiful.” Ayaka silently complimented.
The jewelry box closed with a snap and Diluc set it beside the six jars of slime condensate. He closed the lid of his gift and a wide smile spread on his face. For some reason, you felt like he found this entire situation hilarious.
“Thank you, (Y/N). I’m especially grateful for the slime.” He said. Diluc cleared his throat right after and the smile disappeared. He ended up picking up his gift and announced who his Secret Santa was. “My gift is to Sucrose.”
The remaining gifts were passed around until everyone had opened their gifts. They were all thoughtful and generous.
Everyone loved their gifts and it was perfect for their personalities. Yet, your eyes kept looking over at Diluc’s present. He had to be lying. The party continued as normal. People broke off into their separate groups, ate the remaining leftovers and treats, and played a few games. The gifts, held dear in everyone’s hearts, were forgotten at the moment.
An hour passed and you thought it would be a good time to leave the party. You put your coat on as well as your gloves. Thankfully, you didn’t live too far from the tavern. There should still be a few guards patrolling the city in case of intruders.
“I’m going to be leaving now.” You said to Barbara while holding your gift from Albedo. You wanted to thank him again only to find out he’d left with Klee a long time ago. The little girl was starting to get sleepy and tried to play it off that she wasn’t tired.
“You are? Aw, I wanted you to stay a little longer!” Barbara said. Diluc overheard your conversation and he had already slipped on his red jacket.
“Allow me to walk you home. I insist.” He said, opening the tavern door. Cold air rushed in causing his cheeks and nose to get rosy. “Barbara, if I don’t return soon and everyone has left, don’t worry about cleaning the mess. Head home as well.” He instructed before leaving the tavern right after you.
The door closed. Diluc fixed his jacket as he began following you.
He only had plans to drop you off at your home safely and return to the tavern. You were both walking in silence. You glanced out the corner of your eye. Diluc’s hands were in his pockets. He had a small smile on his face. It was starting to get to you. The smile had the appearance he knew something and purposely refused to tell you what it was. You exhaled loudly, deciding to confront and get it over with. It would be better for him to be honest.
“You didn’t like your gift… Did you?” You asked, stopping in your tracks. You tilted your head to the side and turned to face him.
“I did like my gift. Why would you ask that question?” He answered.
“Why are you smiling like that then?” You nodded your head. It was really in the most innocent and subconscious manner. Diluc didn’t want you to take it the wrong way so it was a good time to come clean. Especially since the hunt for gifts and the party was over. He left his gift in the tavern, right behind the bar counter so no one would find it.
“I have something to admit.” He said.
Oh. Your eyes widened slightly. You took a step back. Donna was going to be mad.
“I lied to you. I don’t actually use slime condensate in my hair.”
Oh. You narrowed your eyes at the man standing in front of you. Scratch that, you were going to be mad. The smile on Diluc’s face grew a lot more visible.
“What?” You finally spoke up. “You’re joking, right?”
“No. I’m not joking.” He shook his head. Your jaw dropped at the confirmation. “I don’t use it. If anyone does, they must be out of their mind to put that in their hair.”
“So you were faking the entire time?!” You shouted. He had led you to believe his hair was his favorite feature and that he cared for it the most. All those times he complained about running low on slime and he might need to find a replacement before getting his new stash from Inazuma. Pure lies he made on the spot. He was so convincing, you thought all he loved in life was slime condensate. “Diluc, you’re such a jerk!” You would have punched him if you weren’t carrying your gift. He grinned briefly at your weak insult.
“Is it my fault you were terrible at hiding you had me for Secret Santa?” He said. He began to walk again and you sped up to join him. You had to be honest. Your attempts were very pitiful when you spoke with Diluc that entire week. It’s much easier to talk with him at the moment than beforehand. “Though, I like your gift more than Donna’s.”
That’s an accomplishment.
“Are you sure six jars were necessary?”
“Leave me alone.”

the wanderer— or kunikuzushi, kabukimono, scaramouche, the balladeer, hat guy (if you will) — has been through a lot, to say the least: first discarded by his creator, his mother, and left to fend for himself; then convinced to have been betrayed by his own friend; and finally left broken-hearted by a broken promise that could probably not have been kept in the first place. it would be a massive understatement to say that he absolutely did not find it easy to warm up to anyone at all.
but then you entered the scene.
you, in all your glory, came barreling in like a snowstorm, broke down all his walls, lodged yourself firmly in his heart and refused to leave– or maybe it would be better to say you found yourself a place where his heart should be? what a pesky little insect you were.
he’d grumbled and lamented when you dragged him out to “get some fresh air”, muttering under his breath about how irritating it was that you wouldn’t leave him alone— and yet he felt himself biting back a small smile when he saw the child-like shine in your eyes as you admired the lights that lit up the way out of the city, your hand gently tugging his forward. hmph, so you dared to lead the way? how insolent.
he’d vehemently refused to join you in laying down on the ground, insisting that he was perfectly fine just where he was, and he’d rather not soil his clothes with the “pure white snow”— because if he carried you back home there’d be twice the amount of germs exchanged between your clothes. no thank you.
he watched as you shrugged, sat cross-legged on the snow-covered path, and put a palm out. he watched as the expression of wonder on your face turned into an expression of awe, pure bliss lighting up your face as you watched the snowflakes falling onto your hand. right into the palm of your hand, exactly where you had him.
he finally allowed himself a small smile (hidden behind his large hat) at the sight of you reliving your childhood memories: running in the snow, making structures out of it, pouting when it melted too quickly before you could do anything. he silently swore, in his heart, that he’d try his best to keep that innocent side of yours so he could protect your precious smile– er, he meant keeping that smile on your face so he could avoid any ugly crying scenes…
he doesn’t know when or how, but somewhere along the way, with how you kept pushing yourself into his life, you’d started to fill the void in his chest, and he’d started looking forward to meetings with you, started to become dependent on that ticklish warmth that spread through all the way to his fingertips whenever you showed your face. huh. so maybe he did have a heart after all. or maybe he’d found one– in which case, he’d endeavour to keep it safe from all who wished for its downfall—
splat! a cold sensation trickles down his cheek, then his neck, and seeps into the fabric of his clothing. you’re standing in front of him, that innocent grin still on your face, and a bundle of snow in your hand.
oh.
nevermind. he only promised he’d protect you from other people, after all! time to teach the fool who dared cross him a lesson.

𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐨 𝐌𝐞 — k. ayato
pairings: ayato x reader tags: christmas, modern AU, angst to fluff w.c: 839 a.n: this is a very very very very late christmas present for @fuoon as part of the @2023gisecretsanta event! I never back down never give up (also i was technically sick so i can latch on to that reasoning hahahhahah I'm still very sorry tho) merry christmas, happy new years, hopefully you like your gift!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Sweetheart, I am so sorry but there’s an emergency meeting that can’t be delayed. I’ll be home as soon as it’s finished.”
You let out a sigh of defeat, looking at the bare Christmas tree in the corner of your living room. The spruce sits there, dreary and gloomy, void of life and celebration, just like your heart. The corner of your lips twitch and you swallow the growing lump in your throat, your eyes shifting back towards the fireplace.
“It’s alright,” you reply, your voice shaky before clearing your throat, “hopefully your meeting goes well.”
“Again my love, I am so sorry, I’ll try to make it up–”
You press the red button before you can hear him say anything more, sparing you the inevitable disappointment it would bring.
Ayato always does this; business before family, or perhaps in his mind it is one and the same. After all, the man has been brought up for the sake of the company, his parents burdening him with the knowledge that it will all be his responsibility someday. That “someday” came 3 years ago and it has been weighing heavily on your relationship.
Last year you were stuck with his sister, Ayaka, and housekeeper Thoma while the head of the Kamisato Corporation ended up coming home after the celebration was finished and the leftovers from the feast stored away. They aren’t bad company per se, you could even say their presence is enjoyable, but they aren’t him.
They are not Kamisato Ayato.
Granted, the previous years he had returned home in time, but this year is no different than that one. The only difference is that Ayaka and Thoma were busy this time of the year, something about helping with the business, so it seems like you will be celebrating alone.
You suppose you are being selfish, seeing that his enterprise is the one managing the cultural aspect of the Tri-Commision, therefore they would be busy in the time of holidays, it is given. A sacrifice you would have to make, a taste for the coming years undoubtedly.
Wishing for it to change is a childish dream; you are only his fiancee after all. You ought to understand.
You look around the boxes, spotting your headphones before putting them on and arranging your favourite playlist to keep your mind off things, humming along to the tune of a familiar song.
With absentminded singing, you pick up the tinsel and begin to wrap it around the tree, arranging tiny lights in between the branches. Your fingers twirl the ornaments before placing them in a neat and florid manner.
Staring blankly at the now fully decorated tree, you took a couple of steps back, trying to admire your own work; that is, before your back pressed against something… warm?
You furrowed your brow, your lips pressed together as your heart began to beat faster in a panic. You quickly contemplate many possibilities; did an intruder manage to get past the property’s tight security? Are you going to get mugged? Will Ayato be sad if a bunch of stuff is missing?
You shook your head; the fiancee of the richest man in Inazuma shouldn’t be scared of such things– so you bite the bullet and turn around, only to be greeted by those dreamy blue eyes and an aloof smile, one you have the pleasure of witnessing every morning.
Ayato reaches over to you, his gaze soft as his hand gently grabs onto your headphones and removes them from your head, your heart beating out of your chest as you watch his every move.
“Ayat-”
Warmth engulfed you both as you felt his soft lips against yours, his arm wrapped around your waist, a tender touch shared only between couples; the happiest couple you know.
“But you said you wouldn’t?” You whisper with bated breath, “How.. why?”
“I will not miss another Christmas with you,” he softly replies before letting one of his mischievous smiles slip in, “After all, there are worse nights to miss than this one.”
“Pfft…”
His blue eyes shift away from your face, that smirk still sitting on his lips before his sights landed on the fully decorated Christmas tree, except for arguably, the most important part. “Where is the star?”
He slightly bent down, resting his chin on your shoulder, kissing your jaw before whispering into your ear, his hot breath fanning over your earlobe almost making you shiver. “Were you waiting for me to put it, darling?”
“As if!” You stifle a chuckle, eyeing the golden star on one of the boxes before tugging the fabric of his suit. “But could you perhaps do it?”
Ayato hummed, his arm’s grip tightened on your waist, peppering kisses on your shoulder before finally loosening and walking over to the boxes, picking up the star and placing it on top of the tree effortlessly. He then suddenly turned around, taking a mistletoe out of his pocket and holding it high up.
“Shall we complete the ultimate Christmas tradition, my love?”

it’s cold outside , neuvillette 𓆝
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis from the shark lover -> not many know much about fontaine’s iudex, but one thing is for sure he does not particularly like the cold. so there must be a reason behind him wanting to visit one of the coldest places on teyvat, right?
@franciosn merry christmas! hi, its your secret santa for @2023gisecretsanta :) i tried to include a little bit of furina and kept it as canon as i could! hope you enjoy <3
genshin impact masterlist
characters -> neuvillette x reader, furina appearance
word count -> 2.2k
content -> oneshot; fluff, (mostly)true cannon, pre-archon quest, mutual pinning, friends to future lovers — gender neutral reader
Tumblr media
the people of fontaine know little of their chief justice, truthfully speaking. it was rare to see the iudex out on the lively streets of the court of fontaine where countless gathered and proceeded with their lives. if it wasn’t for his consistent appearance in opera epiclese seated at the chief justice’s post, the people of fontaine would’ve assumed he was a phantom in their nation.
nobody knows his true name as he wishes to be referred to as his surname.
he has always rejected any form of relationship with the people of fontaine outside of the court in order to remain professional. the only exception to this is the melusines, as he is always found sporting a small smile whenever talking to them. he’s truly does view them as the pride of fontaine.
and most importantly, he’s never been seen absent from the opera epiclese, ever so dedicated to his role as the chief justice of fontaine.
at least, this is what furina knows.
“EHHH!” furina exclaimed, shaking her hands outwards in disagreement. “No, no, no, that won’t do! Who’s going to be here to—uhm—run the court proceedings! Yes, run the court proceedings!” she smirked triumphantly, her hands resting on her hips.
she huffed proudly, taking a few steps towards neuvillette, “my dear iudex, you can’t simply abandon your post…what about all of the cases?”
she can confidently say she knows her chief justices by the back of her hand, in and out after all these years they’ve worked together. so why on teyvat would he be requesting a leave?
granted it was only for 5 days, but five days is five days! he’s never requested a leave, even refusing to take sick days!
he sighed, turning away to grab a glass of water, “lady furina, correct me if i’m wrong, but aren’t you the god of justice, focalors? surely you can handle a few days dealing with court proceedings, can't you?” he responded, fighting a chuckle from erupting from his throat at the expression now casted on her face.
“b-but—you don’t even like the cold! why in the name of teyvat would you visit one of the coldest places in the seven nations!” she stammered, taking small but quick steps towards him.
he was drinking from his glass, and she glanced to the side to see the glass bottle labeled from the cider lake found in mondstadt. she recalls him mentioning how the water in mondstadt had crisp and pure notes, not that she ever could tell the difference between the different waters of the nations. but wait, mondstadt?
she glanced back over at the chief justice who was still drinking from his glass, but the clear vessel gave furina a straight reflection on the light pink dusting his cheeks. on that note, she could also see the tips of his ears blushing the same color.
she recalls again the faint whispers of rumors of the recent appearances of the chief justices in the the streets, who recently began glancing at one specific floral vendor stand. it was common for this vendor to have a lot of visitors, after all, they offered flowers from the seven different regions. what was uncommon was for the iudex of fontaine to consistently begin visiting the vendor, leaving every time with a bouquet.
many thought their chief justice had a secret lover that he kept buying arrangements for, but furina knew otherwise. after all, how could she be the god of justice if she couldn’t solve such a simple case. it was clear to her: the secret lover, or at least, the one who caught his eye was the florist themself.
well it would explain why new vases of freshly cut and cared for flowers kept filling his office.
he shook his head, clearing his throat as he put the glass down, “well? am i wrong, lady furina?” he attempted to distract her, but he could see the playfulness in her eyes.
furina smirked knowingly at the distant view in the chief justice’s eyes, “fine, fine. i suppose i can handle the court for a few days…i will cast judgment upon our courts!” she exclaimed, laughing while one hand rested over her stomach, the other lifting her top hat as she twirled it in the air.
such theatrics only fitting for their archon.
Tumblr media
“monsieur neuvillette, are you sure you can accompany me?” you asked, reaching to grab your travel bag. “i should be fine on my own, you needn’t worry about me.”
the iudex chuckled gently, shaking his head, “like i said, i’ve been meaning to visit myself. it’s no worries.”
as you both walked to romaritime harbor, you hummed. “monsieur, if you don’t mind me asking…” you started, waiting for his response.
he nodded, “please, go on. you have no reason to hesitate to ask me any questions.” he answered.
“well, forgive me if it’s forward, but why must you visit dragonspine?”
his eyes widened ever so slightly and you began to wonder if you indeed did overstep. before you could correct yourself, he gently laughed.
“i suppose i didn't say why. please forgive me,” he said, turning to you. “i have a particular— well, i guess you could call it a hobby. i like drinking and tasting different waters. i’ve heard the water in dragonspine has a distinct taste to it, and it’s best to drink it as fresh as possible.”
you hummed once again, nodding, “well that does make sense. different minerals and the area surrounding the water source do play a role in the taste of the water, i’d suppose.”
his eyes widened gently again and this time he turned away. what you didn’t know is that usually whenever he brought up this hobby of his, people usually brushed it off, saying that all water tasted the same.
strange…what was that feeling in his chest…
he paid no mind to it further and you both continued your journey to romaritime harbor.
Tumblr media
after you both made it to the romaritime harbor, you landed in qingce village. from there, you both began to travel towards the city of freedom. you both had planned to stay the night at an inn and in the morning head off to dragonspine.
“you said it was a variety of cecilia you were looking for, correct?” neuvillette asked as you both entered the borders of the land of anemo.
“correct!” you answered with a small smile. you walked over to a small patch of cecilia’s you had spotted. crouching down, your palm rested on the petals of the white flower. “cecilia’s are a flower native to mondstadt. once when i was exploring the foot dragonspine, i found a different variety which grew in the colder climates. truthfully, those cecilia’s started my love for botany.”
neuvillette hummed, crouching down to your level. you glanced over at him and saw a rather serious expression, failing to notice his eyes softening.
you thought he was bored of your conversation but before you could apologize he hummed, “could you tell me more?”
“tell you more…?” you spoke with a hint of surprise in your voice.
he cleared his throat, standing back up, “well, yes. or perhaps that may be a conversation better suited for tomorrow’s expedition.”
you nodded, enjoying the subtle breeze passing by the both of you. “right…good idea. it’s about time to check in anyways.”
Tumblr media
“monsieur neuvillette, are you sure you don’t require another jacket? i’d be more than willing to get you another one—“
“it's quite alright, i don’t mind the cold,” he spoke through chattering teeth, betraying his words. even so, you found it rude to push otherwise.
you both barely began to tread up the snow covered path and you could already tell he was uncomfortable by the cold. you had heard before how monsieur neuvillette wasn’t the most comfortable with the cold, which is why you found it strange he wanted to accompany you in the first place. surely there were companies that could send over dragonspine water?
nevertheless you sighed, rubbing your hands to create heat through friction, “alright, if you say so…”
besides the cold, the path up dragonspine always amazed you with its beauty. you could even see neuvillette appreciating said beauty though his shivering.
your original goal was to make it to starglow cavern, it’s where you’ve found the most cecilia’s in dragonspine in the past. but from the looks of it, you might have to call it early. you both made it to the entombed city and try as he might, you could tell neuvillette was starting to get uncomfortable with the cold.
“there should be a small patch of the cecilia’s up ahead from what i remember. we can grab those and head back down.”
neuvillette hummed, speaking through a shiver, “but surely you need much more than a small patch…”
you nodded, turning over to him, “well yes, but i’d rather not compromise your well-being. you might develop a cold at this rate,” you said, pointing at his nose how it had become red with the cold. strangely enough, it became redder in color when you called it out.
you turned around quickly, not wanting to keep him in this weather, “i think i see a few up ahead!” you began walking quicker as neuvillette followed your snow covered footprints.
and you were right, there was a patch of cecilia’s that had a distinct blue glow to them. you hypothesized a while back that they adapted to the climate of the mountains and this was the result of that adaptation. you carefully picked them and placed them into your basket that was lined with cryo packets to keep them fresh.
you hummed gleefully, “alright, let’s go!”
neuvillette sighed, shaking his head, “my apologies, i didn’t mean to cut your trip short…”
“it’s alright, sometimes we don’t know our own limits,” you smiled gently at him. “now come on, i don’t want to be responsible for getting the iudex sick.”
he wordlessly took the basket from you, carrying it for you as you both began to descend the portion of the mountain. “rest assured, i rarely get sick.”
“then let me make sure this isn’t one of those rare occasions,” you playfully added.
Tumblr media
neuvillette was waiting for you in front of the gates of mondstadt as you both had agreed on last night once returning from dragonspine. it had been about 10 minutes after your agreed time and he was beginning to worry. at this point, he almost contemplated warning a guard, but he was your figure walking towards the gates.
your eyes widened. you didn’t expect him to be at the gates yet, wasn’t your meeting time in an hour? that’s when it hit you: you might’ve lost track of time.
“where have you been? i was starting to worry…” he started, walking towards you.
you laughed sheepishly, “sorry, i got sidetracked. but here, this is for you!” you said, reaching into your travel bag to get a flask of water. “i have a few more in my bag, don’t worry, it should stay fresh with the cryo packets.”
while you were explaining how the water should hopefully taste fresh, he had to think for a moment. water? well, yes. that was the original purpose he came along with you, or so everyone thought. but as he looked at you, you seemed to be in the same outfit from when you both went up dragonspine…
“thank you. but, did you go back up the mountain?” he asked, his eyes ever observant.
“not really,” you lied, “i had commissioned someone to get a few more cecilias and i thought it was a good opportunity to commission some of the flasks of water you wanted.”
“then why are you in mountain-climbing attire?” he asked, pushing more.
you hummed, “well i did have to meet them a bit into the mountain, i didn’t want to get cold.”
it took him a few moments but he nodded, “very well, my apologies for doubting you…”
then it dawned on him— you remembered his reason for joining you. you even went out of your way to commission someone to fulfill his wish. truthfully, he had exported water from dragonspine previously. he has heard water from dragonspine tastes better when freshly collected, but truthfully, he didn’t care about that this time around. he just wanted to spend time with you.
his cheeks dusted with pink at the realization as he turned away, coughing into his hand. “we should get going now.”
you nodded, “yeah, let me go change…” you gently responded, cheeks dusted with a blush that could’ve been confused for cold weather.
thankfully, he didn’t catch on it seemed. you did go back to dragonspine. while you could’ve commissioned someone to get more cecilias, you pride yourself in hand picking all the flowers in your store. there was also the fact you wanted to get neuvillette’s water. it made your heart race a little knowing he wanted to come with you and you felt bad having him leave empty handed.
both of your white lies seemed to pay off.
while you both rode back to fontaine, neuvillette wondered how he could tell you the truth. perhaps over a nice dinner would suffice…

you can run but you can’t hide.
SYNOPSIS: i’m gonna make you mine (or in other words, a game of chess with ayato.) | word count: 0.7k
Tumblr media
characters: ayato x gn!reader
categories: fluff, ig slight angst, scenario
warnings: the banter could be considered slightly suggestive?? chess terminology that may be inaccurate, threats of violence as a joke, one swear, ayato is a little bit of an ass (read my notes!)
notes: title is from a song, not someone’s elemental burst btw. forever a hater of the fact that hoyo boiled down ayato’s personality to liking boba, being ayaka’s brother + head commissioner, and politeness. we’re giving him banter and snark bc i said so /hj
surprise @aquatik !! i’m your secret santa >:DD im a little rusty when it comes to writing TwT and this fic style is kind of different from my usual so!! i hope you enjoy this fic & my interpretation of him heh. and have a happy holiday!!
Tumblr media
You wanted to strangle him.
Tension was laced through the air, a fine weaving of intricate ribbon that wrapped around your shoulders and settled softly, but not unnoticeably. A featherlight weight that demanded acknowledgement. The white knight in front of you was mocking, horse head positioned carefully to swipe your bishop with no way of getting out of it.
Ayato watched on in glee. A delicate smirk laid out on his refined face.
With a sigh, you continued to mull over your painstaking next move. His pieces had begun to dominate your side of the board with a few of yours off to the side by his arm. Ayato laced his fingers together, rested his chin on the back of his hands, and huffed in amusement.
“If you keep staring at me like that, I’m just not going to take my turn,” you remarked with a scowl, glaring at him from across the table. He cocked his head, expression not wavering.
“Like what?”
“Like you’ve already won,” you stated, looking back down at the pieces still on the board, “like you’ve already beat me before this is even over.”
“But,” a gloved finger came to rest on his chin as he cheerfully quipped back, “haven't I?”
“This game is not over until one of us officially knocks down the opponent’s king.” You moved a pawn. D5.
“Are you sure?” White pawn C4.
“Positive.” Your pawn to C4. Queen’s Gambit accepted. His piece sat off the board to your right.
“You know.” His knight took your bishop; your queen took his knight. “I have told you that I was a master at this, darling.”
“Master at what?” You opened up your last bishop. “Running your mouth?” A flimsy checkmate was secured.
Ayato laughed, a hearty sound that came from deep in his chest and frothed in his throat when it reached the top.
“It’s wonderful playing with you, my love, you know that?”
“No,” you felt the beginnings of a smile appear as you spoke, “I don’t. Please tell me more.”
His queen was gone but so were both of your knights. Yet he still grinned.
“Oops.” Rooks cornered your king despite the placement of your queen, effectively pushing the useless royal to the corner. Ayato smiled, eyes closed as he folded his hands neatly in his lap.
“Checkmate.”
You scoured the board, looking for a brief slip up on his end, for any open area, before sighing, “Good game, love.”
“An excellent one indeed.” His eyes alight with mirth and tease foretold what he was about to say next. “Although, maybe practicing with someone more of your caliber may do you some good.”
The small kingdom shook and chess pieces fell, rooks and queens rolling off the table as both kings toppled.
Slammed in the centre, a crater in the checkered pattern, was your hand. Chair shoved back, you had abruptly stood and scraped the furniture against dark wood. Ayato raised his sight up a slight amount, cheekiness in his giggles while you glowered back. He stood, gaze locked with yours as he leaned in.
Before a single new word could fall from his lips, you had pulled him by the soft material of his robe, fabric melting under your touch.
“I was trying to be nice,” you grumbled. From outer eyes, anyone could have mistaken it for utter hatred. Between the two of you, the venom was neutral; Ayato wouldn’t find real malice behind the things you said.
“As was I.”
“I fear for the officials you meet on a daily basis if this is your ‘nice’.”
His smile fell, not from his face or in the way those games that laid about on the floor, but into something softer; warm and homey. He placed a hand over the one clutched to his clothing.
“It’s a good thing it’s the holiday season then, isn’t it?” He bumped his forehead against yours over the table, position awkward yet he made do. “Means I’m all yours.”
You faked annoyance, a roll of the eyes followed by a scoff, but the smile that threatened to split your face said it all.
“Oh poor me. However will I manage?” You replied before tugging and locking your lips with his.

ALL I WANTED WAS YOU — Furina x reader.
i. SUMMARY: [Name] is scheduled to perform at Fontaine's Christmas Show, and there's only one person they want in the audience. ii. CONTENT WARNINGS: Use of pet names (dear, darling, love), mentions of food, reader is a singer. iii. NOTES: Fluff, very mild angst, singer!reader, established relationship, gn!reader, they/them pronouns used 2.1k words. iv. A/N: This is my entry for the @2023gisecretsanta gifted to @the-white-void! I hope you enjoy, White!
Tumblr media
A layer of ice had settled across the streets of Fontaine overnight, leaving the buildings awash in snow and frost. The weather had pushed most of the citizens indoors in search of warmth, where the battering cold could not touch them and the fire could heat up their frozen bones. Nonetheless, Furina and her partner strolled along the pathway, hands conjoined, perfectly content in the chill.
“Extra! Extra!” A young newsy called out behind them, waving a rolled-up paper in his hands. “Fontaine’s annual Christmas Show is only days away! Read all about the confirmed acts, as well as potential surprise acts!”
[Name] tilted their head in curiosity as they passed, straining to listen to the boy’s faint rambles about the newspaper's theories on who might be performing that night. Some of them were delightfully wrong, missing the mark entirely, but some of them—
“Could the singer [Name] [Last Name] be one of the performers? Read on why we think so!”
Some were right.
“This morning is beautiful,” Furina sighed, letting go of their hand to cling to their arm. She pushed her cheek against their shoulder, making a small noise in contentment. “I adore winter. There’s nothing quite like waking to snow outside, with frost creeping up your windows, and a pleasant chill in the air. Making a warm cup of tea to stave off the cold… it’s lovely, wouldn’t you agree?”
They hummed in concurrence, while beside them, a shivering couple looked over at her incredulously. Furina was oblivious, turning her eye to the posters advertising the Show.
“And of course, the Christmas Show.” Furina sighed mournfully. A worried glance was shot her way.
“You’re not a fan of the Show?” They ask carefully, trying not to let disappointment flow through their tone.
Furina laughed lightly. “Oh, I enjoy it plenty, on the occasional year I attend. I simply don’t care for hearing about it every time I set foot out of my home.” She paused, adding “Though, the programme is supposed to be good this year. I keep hearing about some big names that might be joining.”
It wasn’t just her. Fontaine's people could hardly turn a corner without hearing another rumour about who might be showing up that night, with each guess being more illustrious than the last.
Their excitement wasn’t unfounded: the lineup was star-studded, featuring Lyney and Lynette opening the show with a brand-new performance. The famed director Aurelie’s former troupe was even speculated to be re-uniting for a show in her honour, but with the organiser’s insistence on keeping part of the show a secret, rumours stayed rumours.
The organisers had been so tight-lipped about the surprise acts, that very few were aware of [Name]’s confirmed appearance. They were scheduled as the second last act of the night, in a slot reserved for the best of the best; an honour that came with a monumental amount of pressure. With the buzz surrounding who might be performing, there was a certain air of expectation that followed.
Suffice to say, the nerves were settling in.
“Did you want to stop and get a drink?” They motioned towards a quaint little café tucked into an almost hidden corner of the street, like it was placed there as an afterthought. “I have something important to ask you.”
“Of course,” Furina rubbed her cheek against their shoulder as they walked, much like a cat. “I’m all ears, love.”
The pair settled in a small table at the back. Inside, the air was crisp and warm, in stark contrast to the cold wind that scraped against the door and windows. A faint tune echoed from a gramophone, opposite a display of pastries that rested on the countertop.
Furina eyed the treats with the hunger of someone who hadn’t eaten in weeks before getting tossed into a bakery. Rows of rich chocolate eclairs, paired with tiny strawberry tarts, next to colourful macarons and cakes dripping with icing... it was enough to give them a toothache just looking at it.
“Furina?”
“Hm? Oh, I’m paying attention, darling.” She paused, gaze drifting back to the display. “Though, a strawberry pastry might help me focus even more…”
“Furina.” They near whine.
“Alright, alright.” She chuckled, turning her attention directly to them. She rested her chin on her hand, smiling lightly at them. “What’s on your mind, love? You’re practically shaking with nerves.”
“I… I need to ask you something.”
“Mm, you said that.”
“It is… important.”
“That too.” Furina squinted at them, her airy expression fading to make way for something far more serious. She reached her hand across the table to cup their chin, lifting it to meet their eye. “You know you can tell me anything.”
Her eyes drifted across them, gentle and sweet and completely unguarded. It was a wonder, how quickly that gaze soothed the tension in their shoulders and let their breathing slow to a steady pace. One look from her was enough to settle all the doubts that haunted their mind, stripping away their worries and leaving them bare. There wasn’t a need for words of reassurance or flattery; not when she looked at them with such soft eyes.
The buzz of fear lingering in the back of their head began to fizzle out, to make way for a rush of confidence. They seized the feeling, clasping their grip around the edges of it and—
“I want you to come to the Christmas Show.” They finally blurted out.
Furina stared at them like they’d sprouted horns and turned into a mitachurl. “…Alright. I must admit, with you so nervous I thought you were going to ask something more… important. I was already considering going, but if you’d like to go together—”
“No, no!” They shake their head hurriedly. “Not like that!”
She blinked back at them. “I’m afraid I don’t understand…”
“I’m going to be performing,” They explain, a touch of nervousness seeping through. “It’s this Sunday, it starts at six at the Opera Epiclese.”
“You’re performing?” Furina gasped lightly. “Oh, why didn’t you tell me! I would have made sure I was available right away!”
“I guess… I was just… worried…” They trailed off. It didn’t explain anything, but she caught on within moments.
“You were… worried?” Furina blinked, her features shifting in puzzlement. “About what I’d think? You thought I would judge you?”
A shift in their posture, and a careful aversion of their eyes was all the answer she needed.
“Oh, my dear,” She breathed a sigh, running her gloved hand down their cheek, stopping with one finger hooked under their chin. She gently tilted it upwards to face hers. “Darling, I love you. And I cannot think of anything that would change that fact. I don’t care if it’s something trivial, or if Celestia itself was after you. You never have to worry about me judging you.”
She wished she could murmur each word into their skin until they were branded across it like tattoos, each one a reminder of how much she loved them.
“I’m going to come to your performance,” She promised. “I’m going to sit in the best seat, and I’m going to cheer so loud, and clap until my hands hurt. And it will be because you did amazingly!”
“Thank you,” A smile washes over their features.
She brings their hand to her lips, kissing the words against their skin. “You are so welcome, love.”
A lump in their throat made itself known. Their nervousness had posed a new problem. In the days pondering between whether or not they had the courage to ask her to come, the build-up of excitement had left tickets few and far between. Most seats were already booked, with the only ones left being positioned right at the back where one would have to squint to see the front of the stage.
“It might be hard to get good tickets now.” They admit sheepishly. Furina only giggled into their hand.
“Don’t you worry, dear. I might not have my titles anymore, but they'd hardly let anyone else in my booth. And even if they did—I have my connections."
───── ⋆ ✩ ⋆ ─────
Furina’s ‘connections’ did wonders in reserving the top booth just for the two of them. Once [Name] had managed to squeeze past the bustling crowds and through the hallway leading to the private section, they were treated with two plush chairs: one empty, and one seating a smiling Furina.
She beckoned them to sit, intertwining their hands together as the lights dimmed and a hush descended over the opera house.
The first half of the show was as breathtaking as the promotion had promised. Lyney and Lynette’s act had the audience mesmerised, the acting troupe performed a touching show about the spirit of the holiday, and by the time the lights were turned back on and the intermission was announced, the audience was already raving. They could only imagine the reviews in the Steambird the very next day, promising a spectacular show that was a once-in-a-lifetime event.
As the intermission began, so did their cue to head backstage to prepare for their performance. Before they could move, Furina had already tugged on their hand sharply to pull them towards her. She planted kisses across their cheeks, over their nose and forehead and finally meeting their lips.
“Good luck,” She whispered against their mouth. “I believe in you.”
They slid into place backstage, moments before a loudspeaker announced the end of the intermission.
“And now, esteemed guests… please welcome to the stage [Name] [Last Name].”
All the people gathered behind the curtain shot them grins and whispered encouragement as they passed. Lyney smiled warmly and tipped his hat in a mock bow, while Lynette gave them a polite nod. The frazzled organizers even took the time to spit out a hurried “Good luck!” before they went back to quietly arguing amongst themselves.
Their steps slowed, their hand caught the edge of the curtain. It was soft, velvety under their fingertips. In each rehearsal, they’d run their fingers absent-mindedly along the edge while waiting for their cue. With practice after practice, the feeling became like second nature.
The familiar texture was enough to ground them to the stage, pulling them firmly into the present. They continued; stopping in the dead centre of the stage where a tiny marker was etched out onto the ground. They barely had time to fix their collar and adjust their pose—feet planted firmly on the ground, chest held high, hands folded behind their back—before the curtains drew aside.
Light hit their eyes first, before the rest of the room appeared.
The audience stared in anticipation. The opera house was dead silent, with all the crowd waiting with held breath for their performance. With the spotlight shining directly at them, they had to squint to see more than a hazed blur of faces in the depths of their vision.
The music started, and a thread of nervousness began weaving through their chest. There were countless eyes fixed on them, but they were yet to meet the ones they were looking for. The thread tightened, and a flicker of unease flashed through their mind. Where was she?
One more glance was tossed into the crowd, higher this time, until they saw the top booth.
And there she was: Furina, grinning unabashedly with adoration pouring from her expression. She caught their eye, leaned forward in her seat, and blew a kiss. The simple gesture was enough for a smile to pull at their face, just as the music started to swell.
They opened their mouth, and began to sing.
───── ⋆ ✩ ⋆ ─────
“[Name]! You were incredible!” A voice called out. They could hardly put it to a face, with the amount of people crowding around them.
“They were, weren’t they?” Lyney cut in smoothly, subtly moving to stand almost in front of them. It was a welcomed gesture, taking the attention off them and moving it onto someone who was very much used to the spotlight.
The performers had agreed to gather in the foyer after the Show to talk to audience members, accept congratulations, and sign autographs in Lyney and Lynette’s case. [Name]'s intentions were far less in favour of the audience—or, most of the audience at least. They kept their eyes sharp, scanning across the crowd for any sign of blue.
“Hey! Excuse me! Please, let me through—”
They turned, blinking in surprise as a blur surged towards them. It caught them around the waist and pulled them into a tight embrace that lifted their feet off the ground.
“You. Did. Amazing!” Furina squealed, spinning them around. “Did you hear me? I was cheering the loudest.”
Laughter, wild and carefree, tore away from their chest. Somehow, they couldn’t bring themself to care about everyone looking at them, only the girl in their arms.
“Merry Christmas,” Furina said softly. Their only answer was a kiss.

A/N: Merry Christmas/Xmas @neruro ! Thank you @2023gisecretsanta for the opportunity to write for others this Christmas/Xmas.
(Ooc)Scaramouche x Fem!Reader (Fluff)
Tumblr media
You and Scaramouche were drinking hot cocoa as you snuggled up close to him.
It was almost Christmas and you both wanted to spend it with each other. He had his arm wrapped around you in a comforting embrace as his other arm was resting on the arm of the couch, holding his hot chocolate.
He wouldn't normally drink anything sugary, but when it comes to you, he will (begrudgingly) drink it. It's one time of the year, it wouldn't make a huge impact on him anyways.
You scooted closer into his embrace, resting your head onto his chest after you finished your drink.
He instinctively re-adjusted, setting his mug down on the side table next to him. Both his arms wrap around you in a comforting hold as he rests his chin on your head.
You enjoyed Christmas, you loved all the traditions, too. It was fun to partake in those activities as the time came.
You set up the Christmas tree with Scaramouche, although he wasn't sure what the point of it was. You could just put presents on a table, couldn't you?
Anyway, you leaned up and nuzzled into him, peppering light kisses all over his face. You watched as a light blush dusted his cheeks.
"What was that for?" He inquires, an eyebrow raised from your action.
You shrugged, "Do I need a reason to dote on the one I love?"
He remained silent, he had nothing to say to that.
You look up, only now remembering you sneakily placed a slightly hidden mistletoe above the couch last night.
"Say.. are you one to follow traditions?" You asked slyly. Scaramouche followed your gaze, his eyes landing on the mistletoe above you two. His eyes narrowed as he figured out what it was.
"Seriously? A mistletoe? If you wanted to kiss me, you could've just asked." He chuckled, relishing in your flustered state.
"W- Well.. I was going to-" You paused, looking at him.
All he did was look smugly in your direction.
"What are you waiting for? Go on." He waved his hand around somewhat impatiently, looking away whenever you caught him eyeing your lips.
Wanting to indulge in both you and him, you lean up to him, your lips pressing against his.
"I love you, you know that, right?" You say, it was rather cute to him, how you were so confident in that. He believed you, though.
"I know you do. I love you too."

Holiday Happenings
Tumblr media
Characters: Albedo, Childe, Freminet
— spending the holiday season with them is never a dull moment
CWs: gn!reader (no pronouns), fluff, modern!au, Freminet's is platonic/Albedo’s is romantic/Childe’s can be read as either-or, alcohol (Childe), kissing, petnames (love), reader is gifted a necklace in Childe’s but it’s design isn’t described, Freminet might be OOC this is my first time writing him!!
This is my contribution to the 2023 Genshin Secret Santa! @mechalily this is for you and I hope you like it!! ('m sorry for being a little late <3)
Tumblr media
Albedo
"You're not seriously working during Christmas break, are you? I thought you finished all your assignments already?" When you entered your boyfriend's dorm room during the evening hours you really weren't expecting him to be hunched over and writing away at some chemical research… thing. Actually, you thought he’d be either sketching or reading. “Albedooo, you’re not supposed to be a slave to the education system for the next few weeks!”
Your little comment left him unfazed as he finished writing his thoughts down before glancing up at you. “This is no assignment love, just merely research I conducted on my own time from my own curiosity. It’s quite fascinating really, and I think it’s something you’d enjoy as well.” While your heart does indeed warm at the thought of him keeping you in mind during his day-to-day activities, and you'd be more than willing to sit and listen to him for hours, you came here with a purpose dammit!
Nonchalantly you stand behind him, draping your arms over his shoulders and resting your head beside his. He gives you a look, blank for the most part but you can see the underlying suspicion in them, a silent What are you planning?. You just smile like you’re not up to anything, even though you most certainly are. Subtly you move to grab something from your pocket, getting ready to reveal it along with your notorious plan.
“While I most definitely want to hear about your research, I think you should be relaxing just a little more and doing more holiday activities or your regular hobbies than something you’ve been doing nonstop for the last few months. And I’ve got just the idea for you,” and with that you pull what you had in your pocket out, holding it above the both of you.
“Kissing me under some mistletoe!! …followed by cuddles 'cause it’s cold please and thank you.” At first he blinks, then his eyes move between your expectant face and the plant and that was all it took for a small smile to find itself on his lips.
“You know,” he starts, shifting in his seat to face you better, “all you had to do was ask. There was little need to go to such lengths.”
“But that takes all the fun outta it!” You pout, still hoping he’ll humour you and fulfill your holiday wish. You even playfully try batting your eyelashes, intending to sway him.
Of course, Albedo never needs to be swayed to give you a kiss, or even cuddles. Besides, who is he to go against the ‘must kiss under the mistletoe’ rule? So, without much convincing, soft hands cup your cheek and lower you towards him, his lips soft and delicate as he gifts your long desired kiss. It’s not too short and not too long, just the right length to make you feel warm and your lips tingle with the memory of him.
When he pulled away he deftly plucked the mistletoe from you, placing it on his desk before looking back at you, his thumb stroking your cheek, eyes full of tender love. “If I recall, you requested some cuddles as well, yes? Let’s not waste any time then, as I too have been craving all that is you.”
Childe
The thrum of the music in the house vibrates deep in your chest, the cacophony of sound mushing together in your head, evoking the beginning of a headache. Leaning against the kitchen counter, you're left wondering how a noise complaint hasn't been made yet, positive everyone within three blocks of the house is ready to riot for their right to peace and quiet.
Taking a sip of... whatever juice mixed with vodka that was provided, your eyes bounce between the bodies and faces of the other university students, each having one thing in common: skipping the books in favour of having some end-of-the-year fun. There's one face you're looking for in particular though, and the moment his bright ginger curls catch your eye you're on the move towards him.
As if sensing your gaze, Childe turns and smiles, raising his own cup in greeting. “You actually came, I’m quite surprised."
You suppress an eye roll as you lightly bump shoulders with him, returning his smile with one of your own. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world. It’s been too long since I’ve gone out and had some fun.” You take a greedy gulp of your drink then, letting yourself relax now that you’re in the presence of a familiar face. Childe mirrors your action before setting his now empty cup on the coffee table, guiding you up the stairs to a quieter place. He takes you to the first empty, and most importantly quiet, room he could find before shutting the door behind the both of you.
“While I’m all for a good time, even I’m starting to get a headache from how loud it is. Hope you don’t mind.” You’re quick to dispel his worries with a smile and a shake of your head. Acting like you own the place, you set your cup on the closest stable surface and walk over to the other side of the room - a lavish bedroom now that you take a look around - opening up the balcony doors before stepping out. The cold hits you instantly, but it’s a welcoming sensation against the smothering heat of the party. Childe isn't far behind you, leaning against the banister as he gazes out at the snow-covered city, dotted with lights.
While you're more than content with sitting in silence, your banister buddy has something on his mind, so he's anything but hesitant to relight the conversation, "oh! That reminds me…” he pulls something from the pocket of his hoodie, “this is for you. Merry Christmas.”
He hands you a thin, rectangular box, red in colour and a white ribbon wrapped around it and tied into a bow. By weight and the slight noise it makes when you took it, it was clearly a jewelry box, and the moment you pull the silk off and lift the lid you’re met with exactly as you thought it’d be.
You whisper his name on a breath, picking up and examining the design that hangs on the chain. “Oh wow… this is lovely Childe, thank you!” The male smiles, glad he was able to pick out something to your liking. He watches with eager eyes as you put it on, everything about it suiting you to a T.
“Glad I still know what you like. Now..." He chuckles, a mischievous look in his eyes showcasing the clear tease he’s trying to make, "where’s my gift?” And really, he leaves himself open to your own teases. You can’t help but be a little mean.
“Nice try, but naughty boys don’t get Christmas gifts,” you snicker, crossing your arms and turning away from him. Cue the ginger’s normal antics of practically hanging off you, a smile and a pout on his face at the same time as he pesters you about forgetting to get a gift for your favourite person. These things don’t bother you one bit though, staying calm as an overgrown baby clings and pleads for the gift he knows you got him.
Finally, you give some crumbs, “Okay, okay, maybe, just maybe, I got you something. And maybe, it’s sitting at my house, waiting for you.”
When his eyes brightened, shining with pure delight as he grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the party and towards your place, you can’t help but think his joy was the best gift you could get.
And if he’s this happy over hearing he got a gift, then you can only guess how over the moon he’ll be at the life size plush he’s gonna get.
Freminet
"This is your first Christmas away from the orphanage, right?" You ask softly, digging through your box of Christmas ornaments while sparring the young boy a glance. Wordlessly, he takes the miniature top hat decoration you hand him, nodding softly as he stands and places it on the tree.
“That’s right. It’s also the first one I’ll be spending without Lyney and Lynette… so I’m very grateful that you’re letting me spend it with you,” he said, smiling softly. You huff a chuckle, handing him another decoration.
“Of course, it’s my pleasure to have you here this year. I’m just sorry the snowstorm prevented your siblings from coming home.” your words are genuine in nature and for that the young boy nods in thanks, hanging a couple more decorations with you in silence.
Over the years of knowing the three orphans you've come to notice a lot about each of them, and something about Freminet was that he was a quiet child, quieter than his sister at times. It speaks volumes about his character, and through trial and error, you've uncovered the why and how to work your way around it. He's quiet, but that doesn't mean he has nothing to say. Coincidentally, this also works in your favour, a simple segway into your little surprise.
"So, did you have any Christmas traditions?"
"Christmas traditions?"
"You know, opening a single gift on Christmas Eve, the Christmas pickle, leaving cookies and milk for Santa, those kinds of things!" As you listed things off his eyes widened slightly, lit with understanding. He makes a small humming noise, obviously thinking how he should phrase his response.
“Well, I’ve heard of each of those, but the only one we ever participated in was leaving treats out for Santa and his reindeer. I did always want to open a present on Christmas Eve though, but I never asked if we could; I was content with just getting a gift.”
Your smile widens a bit, “why don’t you open one then? How about that one, the red, perfect square one?”
“Are you sure? Like I said, just getting a gift is enough for me…”
“I insist. Please Freminet? Pretty please?” Although reluctant, the boy finally concedes and picks up the gift you pointed out. It was light in weight, as if there wasn’t much or anything at all within. One last glance up at you and Freminet is carefully tearing into the wrapping paper, revealing a bland, brown cardboard box. Lifting the lid, the blond tilts his head, pulling out one of his brother’s signature magic cards. Flipping it over reveals a simple message: Merry Christmas Freminet <3
Confused, he turns to look at you for an explanation only for his eyes to widen in shock at the familiar faces standing next to you.
Lyney flourishes his hat, bowing at the waist, “and just like that, with a little Christmas magic, Lynette and I reappear before your very eyes! Merry Christmas Freminet!”
Lynette smiles softly, not as eccentric as her twin, though the love behind her words is very clear, “Merry Christmas.”
Freminet stands at a loss for words, looking between his two older siblings before shifting over to you. "But... the storm... weren't they supposed to be...?" His lips part to ask you his burning questions, but all you do is wink and lift a finger to your lips. It wouldn't be magic if the magician told their secrets after all. He doesn't need to know you pulled some strings to get them home earlier than intended, simply because you knew Freminet wanted to spend Christmas with them.
And the young boy doesn't push for more from you, instead stepping forward and embracing his siblings, glad they could be home for the holidays. Now, he gets to spend it with all of his loved ones.

Zhongli x gn!Reader fic: A thousand more years
Tumblr media
You're visiting Zhongli, your friend and the person you're head over heels for. He's so perfect; could he ever look at you in the same way you look at him?
Word count: 1204 words
Genre: Fluff
Content warnings: None
Notes: Merry Christmas, @bitterrenegade! I'm your Secret Santa, and this is my gift to you: a little bit of mutual pining. I hope you enjoy! Thanks to @2023gisecretsanta for the organization!
Read below or on AO3.
“It is always satisfying to have a cup of tea when it is cold out, do you not think so?” You’re visiting Zhongli at his place, and as usual, he has prepared tea for the both of you. He always picks something appropriate. If you’re stressed, he’ll make some jasmine tea to help you relax. If you’ve just had a meal together, he makes ginger tea to aid digestion. Or, in this case, when the weather is cold, black tea hits the spot. Especially if Zhongli makes it: he’ll pay attention to the right brewing temperature and steeping times. He isn’t one to skimp on details.
You eagerly take a sip. It’s still too hot to drink, so you end up not tasting much. But at least the smell is good. “Mh-mm,” you agree. “Black tea is just right for moments like these. I got so darn cold on my way to your house. I really need something to warm me up.” Like your arms around me — the thought is there, but you could never speak it aloud.
It’s been a few months since you’ve fallen in love with him, but you fear he could never reciprocate. He is way too… perfect, in a sense. His calm and steady demeanor, his countless skills, his impeccable style: in all respects, he is in a league of his own. You’re just glad you can spend time with him as a friend; that is already a great honor. Although that, too, you could never speak aloud. He’d play it down, humbly; as if he isn’t a former Archon; as if he is just a normal human.
Zhongli smiles. “I’m pleased to hear you enjoy it. Have as much as you like. And if I can do anything else for you, let me know. You are my guest, after all.”
A soft laugh escapes you. “Come on, Zhongli. We’ve been friends for quite some time now. No need to be so formal.”
Zhongli chuckles, too. “You are right. Apologies. I’m just most used to this manner of speaking. Although that is, of course, no excuse. Please know that I never mean to be cold towards you; quite the opposite.” He scrapes his throat. “Well then. Friend. How have you been?”
“It’s been alright. I’ve just been going to work as usual. How about you?”
“Likewise. Although I don’t mind it. Contrary to what one might think, living as long as I have does not get boring. It does not rob each moment of its worth. Rather, life has taught me that there is an infinity of different experiences and that each one is worth treasuring. Even moments that seem to be the same, are different in interesting ways.”
You take a moment to find the right words to say — any silences that fall between are not awkward, but peaceful. “That’s quite a profound answer to such a mundane question, Zhongli.” You laugh a little, but it’s not mean-spirited; Zhongli smiles along with you. “I suppose you may be right. I’ll try my best to live a thousand years and maybe I’ll learn to treasure each moment the way you do.”
He laughs again. His laugh sounds deep, much like his voice. It’s carefree and calm, coming from deep inside. Something about it just draws you in and makes you fall in love with him all over. “I do not think it’s necessary to live as long as me, dear. Though I would not mind if you did. I would love to have tea with you for a thousand more years.”
‘Dear’? You blush at his choice of words. And he said he would like to have tea with me for a millennium more?
“Y/n?” Zhongli interrupts your shock. “Did I say something to upset you? You look quite troubled.”
“No, no, it’s not that at all!” You shake your head and wave your hands in a defensive gesture. “I’m just… Never mind,” you trail off. You can’t even look him in the eye.
From the corner of your eye, though, you see him looking at you with a smile. “Alright then.” A short silence falls. Then he sets his cup of tea on the table between you and gets up. You look at him, wondering what he’s up to. He makes his way around the table to you and lowers himself on one knee so that your faces are level. “Did I fluster you with my words?”
You feel yourself becoming even redder. You nod, unable to speak.
“I meant those words. And I apologize if I misread your reaction, but I have the impression that you feel the same way I feel about you. I’ve been yearning for you. So, if you’ll let me…” He trails off, seemingly intentionally. His hand cups your cheek gently. You could pull away if you wanted. His other hand takes your cup from you and places it on the table. His lips draw nearer to yours. And nearer. You close your eyes. His hand slides lower, to the back of your neck, as he presses his lips on yours. His lips are soft; his mouth has the lingering taste of a green tea he must have had before you arrived.
For several long moments, the touch remains. Then, Zhongli pulls back. You open your eyes; you find him looking at you with a kind gaze. “I have wanted to do this for months. Months that felt like centuries.”
“I don’t know what a century feels like, but I imagine it must be like the months I spent yearning for you.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t let you know my feelings sooner. I did not want to be presumptuous. That’s why I used that term of endearment. I wanted to gauge your reaction.”
“That’s so sweet,” you murmur. “But… I almost can’t believe it. You’re so amazing. You’re perfect in every way. I can’t believe you’d fall in love with someone average like me.”
Zhongli’s face betrays pity and love. “Dear, surely you’ve heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? To your eyes, I’m perfect — even though I do not see myself the way you do. Likewise, you’re perfect to me, even if you don’t see it yourself.” He smiles at you.
You can’t argue against that. “Zhongli. Kiss me again.” Your voice is soft, unused to the candor.
He indulges you. Again and again. His tongue slips in your mouth. Sometimes you even detect a hunger in the movements of his mouth. A possessive voraciousness in the way he holds your head like he’s never going to let you go. He probably won’t.
Eventually, he lets up. “We shouldn’t let the tea go to waste. It is probably good to drink now.” He returns to his chair and picks up his cup. You take yours, too, and take a sip. Zhongli is right: the tea is at the perfect temperature now. It warms you deep inside. It’s a little bitter, giving it an intensity that fits the weather.
“Zhongli?” you whisper, your breath blowing away the steam rising from the cup.
“Yes?”
“I feel the same. I would like to have tea with you for a thousand more years.”

synopsis: Kaveh doesn’t really like Christmas shopping with you for one (1) reason: You have horrible taste in matching Christmas outfits.
Tumblr media
warnings: 1.1k words, slight mention of Cyno and Tighnari, small mention of Collei BC she's my daughter my baby fr, modern au!! bff kaveh has my heart honestly he'd be such a good friend yet u still have to tell him to take a breather on his issues like get this man some help pls judgy kaveh but he swears it's in good faith lol
mhie’s notes: participating in @2023gisecretsanta's secret santa event! this piece is for the wonderful @june-again <3 i hope you enjoy this fic and have a wonderful happy holidays !! took a little break from romantic writing since you said you preferred platonic heehee,,, i shuld really write for kaveh more he's so silly
“No.”
You sigh, before plastering your best sopping wet cat expression. “Please, Kaveh? My wonderful, amazing, incredibly talented, bestest friend—”
“First of all, gross–” you stick out your tongue at him. “And second, [Name], I already told you this a million times and I'm going to say it again. I will not be caught dead in that… that abomination.”
“C’mon, pleasee? It's just to take pictures with, I swear!” you say as you shove the red, abnormally large Christmas jacket to your best friend’s face, trying to at least get him to relent for just a few minutes. You do not succeed, and this only furthers the mortification in his eyes. This has been something Kaveh had been dreading for a long time already.
It'd been a pretty okay day, his design for a new architecture project was approved and he was looking forward to excitedly sharing the news with you over a nice meal after work, only to be faced with the hell that is Christmas shopping near the Grand Bazaar in downtown Sumeru with Cyno and Tighnari, who are currently browsing through the rows of nice ‘make-your-own-plushie’ kits to give to Collei as a gift.
After you lot met up after your respective work and caught up by a delicious meal in a fancy restaurant (his wallet is screaming bloody murder right now though), the first stop he was immediately dragged to was a clothing store by you, and normally he would gladly pick outfits with you without complaint, but you were a huge fan of picking these tacky (sorry, but it's true) Christmas jackets that came in pairs to match with him. Best friend privileges, you say, but that absolutely clashes with his style. Like, he loves you, really, you're his friend and partner in crime and probably the only person he trusts more than Al-haitham, that bastard, anyway, but that (the sweater) is nothing but a fashion disaster waiting to unfold.
So he crosses his arms, Kaveh giving you a withering stare. “In the first place, why this sweater of all things? And that color?!”
“It looks good on you! See, it even matches with your eyes! It's modern.”
“It's horrendous, that's what.”
“Hey! You criticizing my style choices now?”
“Uh, duh? Why else are we friends? Why else am I your best friend, huh?”
“Still, it's the holidays, so indulge me just this once, please?”
“Excuse you, just this once? Last year was that green jacket that was too itchy for me to even wear! And the Christmas tree design in it wasn't even halfway finished!”
“Hey! The Christmas tree print on it was still cute though, don't lie. And you wore it anyway.” you say dismissively, and you press against the sleeves of the jacket.
“Well, yeah, but–” Kaveh stops himself, before giving you an exasperated expression. “Wait, no, that isn't the point here! The point is, we should just look for better options!”
“Aww, but this one has a reindeer and elf print on this….” you sigh, disappointed. Kaveh eyes you with skepticism before turning to the aforementioned sweater.
Okay, maybe it wasn't so bad… the reindeer print and the elves helping out the Santa Claus on the jacket front was kinda endearing… wait, no, don’t be swayed!
“In any case,” he snips, putting a hand on his face and eyeing you distrustfully, “We can talk about that—” he gives the jacket a horrendous look of distaste, “later. For now we should just meet up with Cyno and Tighnari.”
Before Kaveh can exit the store, however, you pull him back. “Nuh uh! Those two are going to take forever getting presents and you know it.” and just when he thought he dodged a bullet, you immediately give him the jacket, send him over to the fitting rooms and even have the mind to say ‘take your time!’ and then leave him be.
So, inside the fitting room, Kaveh can only try to struggle to find the utter appeal of the very, very questionably designed Christmas Jacket. There are two beings on his shoulder right now, the one with imaginary angel wings and of course, the one that's undoubtedly the devil.
‘Do it for [Name]! Please, this is exclusive best friend privilege and you're just going to throw it away? This is tradition!’ the nicer one says, endlessly using his moral compass as means for Kaveh to accept, and he almost does, really, but of course, with the angel comes the devil.
‘[Name] will understand if you don't wanna wear it! Besides, they've never had the best taste in fashion when it comes to Christmas jackets! Surely just one refusal won't hurt?’
“Okay, stop, stop!! I'm getting too into my head right now, I have to weigh the options….” Kaveh mentally chides himself and the little voices in his head, but ultimately comes up in a slump; on one hand, refusing you was fine, he knew that you would respect his decision, as you had always had. But… if he accepted just one night of humiliation, which will no doubt come in the form of Al-haitham and Cyno giving subtle and noticeable teasing when all of you gather around the local Lambad’s Tavern to celebrate Christmas Eve. Heck, even Collei would probably give him a look of pity! Kaveh hates it, really, but then again, it was just one night….
And you’d be disappointed! Also, what if instead of him who has to endure the matching Christmas jackets, what if you would match with someone else? No way, no way. Those were his best friend privileges and he was not forsaking them. Hmm, this was seriously a hard decision to make.
One day of humiliation versus the loss of potentially Kaveh’s and your Christmas tradition forever and likely the appearance of being a horrid friend– okay, he was overreacting here, but still! A horrid friend to you. Would he, in all his good conscience, really turn you down?
“Ooh, looking good there. I told you it wasn’t too bad!” you’re smiling and slightly smirking (no doubt you knew about his moral dilemma) at him when Kaveh comes out of the fitting room, donning the very oversized, very unfashionable jacket. “Oh my god, Al-haitham is never ever going to let you live this down.”
“Yeah, I can see that.” he grumbles, clearly swatting your phone away. “Can we just get it over with now? I swear I'm going to be so sweaty in this jacket. You’re lucky you have best friend perks.”
“Heh, don’t mention it! No one can resist my wonderful and amazing personality. Now, wear this too-!”
“Wait, hey! I never agreed to the Christmas hat-! Hey, [Name]!”

Future promises: Rosaria x Adventurer reader
a gift for @cosmichorrorsarestillnicerthanme you really gave me a LOT of room to do whatever I want here lol... I hope I did a good job! I'm not really used to writing full fics like these, but I'm working on getting better at it!
it was for @2023gisecretsanta event!
Tumblr media
Summary: A lot of things can change in one night. Rosaria goes from denying feelings for you, to planning a romantic trip. Reader is: Gender neutral Cw: Alcohol mention
“Kaeya, I already told you I don't have time for dates” Rosaria exclaimed, she and Kaeya were drinking together. Today he suddenly got into a teasing mood, although with Rosaria it's a dangerous territory the Cavalry Capitan can't pass the opportunity to see if his drinking buddy's face can turn red not due to alcohol.
“Aw come on, you're usually more fun” he chuckled as he looked into his glass admiring the liquid within.
“And you're usually less invasive” she tapped her fingers against the table, almost as if she's sending him a warning sign- which he ignored.
“Perhaps, but I think I'd just like to see you with someone” he smirked “Like for example, I heard Y/N is single”
If looks could kill, there would be a funeral soon. Kaeya could only feel a bit amused by her extreme reaction “Come on, I've seen how you look at them. I swear I saw you smile by a degree, which should earn them a medal honestly” he joked but he wasn't done “And besides, if it truly wasn't anything going on you wouldn't react in this way” he drank some of the wine while his smug smile remained.
Rosaria allowed herself to calm down before speaking “Well played” she sighed “But it's still far from your business” her gaze moved away from the man in front of her. Her attention went fully to her glass, maybe emptying it will make her sappy thoughts disappear. Just mentioning that name made her brain come up with some sweet ideas, and she didn't like how her heart fluttered at the thought of any of it becoming real. It was just so odd to imagine herself being vulnerable. Yes, a part of her somewhat wants to just allow herself to melt in your arms. But she won't allow herself to idolize you or believe that she's ready for romance. Admiring you from a distance is more than enough.
Rosaria continued to wonder and Kaeya didn't disturb her train of thought, finding the whole thing to be amusing, and worrying at the same time. While the Sister continues to lose her focus, the knight waved his hand at a familiar face, inviting them to join the table.
“Oh, Y/N what a coincidence that you can join us. We were just talking about you” those words snapped her back to reality “We were just talking how it's been a while since we drank together” she tried to deny him any way he could tease her. It's not the first time she needs to cut in before he tries to give you any weird ideas.
“It's still nice that you were thinking about me” usually, such a polite tone would make her annoyed. But it's you. It's always different when it's you. And she hates it. She doesn't want to have feelings for you, but she can't help it.
“We like your company, so it's not unusual for us to miss you” she tried to say as casually as she could “Due to your travels it's been a while since we spent some time together too” although it was undeniable that she usually missed you much more than the rest of the company by the table. And it was about time said company tries to force you to spend some time alone.
“Ah, how unfortunate. We won't be able to be in the full group. I'm afraid I need to get going” Kaeya stood up from his seat. He pats Rosaria’s shoulder before leaving, making her roll her eyes.
“What's up with him?”
“What isn't up with him?” she shrugged “Besides I think we have better things to talk about anyways” as much as she wasn't a fan of indulging in long conversations, it was different with you. It was more a matter of your company, but she liked it. Regardless if you sit in silence or share your thoughts, she could never get enough of you “Maybe you could tell me a little about your recent trip?”
As far as she was concerned, you had just returned from Inazuma. She heard that it was quite a beautiful place, not to mention they have quite the choice in alcohol… Which honestly got her tempted to visit but she just couldn't find an excuse to go yet.
“Oh right, Rosaria I have bought you some sake… but I didn't bring it with me here” it was understandable, after all who brings their own alcohol to the bar? Even if you don't plan on consuming it.
“It's the thought that counts. And hey, that'll give me an excuse to walk you back” she shrugged, masking how happy she is about the very idea… it's making her feel like some helplessly lovesick teen. It's dumb but… should she really be fighting her feelings still? Maybe that's dumber.
“Alright then, I certainly won't say no to spending more time with you” your sweet smile was like a curse that made her heart skip a beat. Although it was rather loud at Angel's Share at this hour, she feels like everything around you stops for a moment.
“So, are you going to tell me more about your trip or is only the alcohol making it a worthy visit?” she went back to the topic.
“I've ran into a few issues here and there, some of the procedures really got confusing… but I didn't get into any unwanted trouble”
“You say like there is wanted trouble”
“Definitely there is. I mean, what adventurer doesn't seek any thrills? If everything went smoothly all the time it would be boring”
“True, so tell me more about the wanted trouble then” she leaned closer as you got her full attention. It made you a little shy to be put in the spotlight, but it's not the first time you're talking about your adventures- so you got used to it.
As always when you spoke she could only pay attention to you. Nothing else mattered. Nothing else existed, it was just the two of you. Hearing your stories she felt happy for you, but at the same time she only wished she was there with you. From enjoying yourselves in hot springs, admiring fireworks to even just fighting by your side and protecting you. She could only imagine how better it would be to experience rather than hear about it. Only this time, she didn't push these thoughts away any further. Yes, she still wasn't going to make a move… but she won't fight her feelings.
“That all sounds great, maybe one day I'll tag along huh? I think it'll be better if I see your achievements with my own eyes” she wasn't exactly serious, as much as she wanted to mean it she knows that travels aren't on her list right now. To her surprise you were a bit more excited about the idea.
“That would be amazing!” you could already imagine it. You could see Rosaria pretty much anywhere in the world and she's fit in perfectly.
Seeing that fire in your eyes she chuckles “Remember, I said one day. Don't plan like we're heading out tomorrow” she crossed her arms.
“If I prepare a plan now we won't waste time preparing it later. Besides, I don't want to do the same trip twice, so I have to know what to avoid on my next departures” you explain, but honestly you were just so hyped about the idea of traveling with Rosaria that you needed everything ready now.
“Alright, if you say so”
You stayed up for a long time, chatting the night away as you discussed the possible adventure that awaits you. So as she walks you back home you give yourselves a moment of silence. It was peaceful, and not awkward. You don't remember the last time silence in her company didn't bring you comfort. It made both of you appreciate the moment more.
You'd ask her to stay a bit longer, but in the end you pass her the bottle along with a farewell “See you tomorrow, Rosaria”
“Goodnight Y/N” to fight her desire to stay with you she quickly ends your conversation as she walks away from your house, thinking when she should take her time off and just what kind of wanted trouble you'll find yourselves in soon…

jealousy, jealousy
Summary: If you asked Scaramouche if he ever felt jealous, he'd say that he doesn't waste his time on human emotions. Although if that's the case, then what is it he's feeling when he sees you with Tartaglia?
Pairing: Scaramouche x female reader
Tags: Scaramouche being bad at feelings, hurt/comfort, possibly ooc Scara, not proofread so sorry for any mistakes,
A/n: Hi @yureismellslikefanfic I got you for the @2023gisecretsanta event! Sorry about it being a bit late, I had to go through like eight trials just to start writing it but I eventually did it! I hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
Scaramouche was absolutely, in no way shape or form, jealous.
That's what he'd tell himself, anyways. Denying that he'd ever care for a lowly human in any capacity; much less seek their attention.
So why did he feel an irresistible urge to suddenly dispose of the eleventh fatui harbinger whenever he was around you?
He saw how you smiled at the ginger more than him, and it wasn't your teasing smiles you'd give when he was around, it was a genuine one that he rarely saw on you.
Childe was chatting away with you by his side, unaware, or perhaps simply ignoring Scaramouche's glare.
Scaramouche debated going over there and simply dragging you away, but then what? And why did he even have the urge to do so in the first place?
As Scaramouche was internally seething and questioning why he was doing so in the first place, he noticed the ginger lean down into your ear to whisper something, and whatever it was he could only imagine was flirtatious in nature since you blushed.
Oh that did it.
Disregarding any previous notion to ignore it he made his way over to you and Childe, speaking before he could even really process it.
“What are you doing? Don’t you have anything more important to be done then converse with others?” Scaramouche asked, glaring at you.
“What’s wrong with her talking to me? Are you opposed to friendly conversation?” Childe replied, which only turned Scaramouche’s glare towards him.
Scaramouche scoffed, “It’s hardly ‘friendly’ from what I’ve heard. You’re both getting too personal for a work environment.” And oh no, that came out more bitter than intended. He could already see a smirk start to cover your face.
“Oho? My lord, are you, mayhaps, jealous in any way?” You ask with an annoyingly satisfied grin.
His next words don't come as easily as they should have, “You're so full of yourself. Of course I'm not.”
Before either you or Childe can respond, Scaramouche turns away from the both of you, walking away as he tells you both, “Do as you please, it's not as if I care.”
Despite the ugly feelings bubbling up that Scaramouche would never admit even existed, he left you and Childe alone.
He all but stormed into his office, but he hardly got a moment before you stepped in.
“Wait, Scaramouche. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you.” You told him, and he scoffed.
“As if a lowly human such as yourself could evoke such feelings from me.” He replied.
“Right… So if you weren't upset, what was all that about?” You ask, clearly not buying his story.
“It's none of your business.” Scaramouche very much avoided answering your question.
You cross your arms, “I just want to help, is all.” You say.
“I don't need help from a being such as you.” Scaramouche said, and he knew he was pushing your buttons.
It seems, however, you had quite enough of him today so you turned around and walked towards the door. “Fine, be that way, then. At least I know Childe actually likes me.” You say and it's such a childish remark and yet it still spurred him into action.
He grabbed your arm before you could leave, “What do you mean, ‘he actually likes you’?” Scaramouche basically demands.
You turn back to him with a glare, “Exactly what I said. At least Childe pretends to care about me, unlike you.”
“Do you think I don't care about you?” Scaramouche asks, speaking before thinking.
It seems you both realize what he said and Scaramouche quickly let's go of your arm.
“Forget I said anything, just go back to-”
“You care about me?” You interrupted him, and you looked so full of hope as you said that, like you'd fully believed Scaramouche to hate you as he does everyone.
For once, Scaramouche didn't have a response. It was an odd feeling.
“Scaramouche?” You ask again after his prolonged silence, “Do you care for me?”
And isn't that the question of the hour? Scaramouche had been fully convinced he'd scrubbed away all human emotions, but then you had to enter the picture. Making him feel things he thought he never could again.
Despite his lingering silence, you simply smiled. “It's okay,” You said, “You don't have to answer now.”
Scaramouche only scoffed, “Whatever, just go. I'm sure you're forgetting something by prolonging your visit here.”
By the way you immediately startled and hurried out the door, Scaramouche can only guess that he was correct.
“Shoot, right!” You exclaimed, “I gotta go, see you later, bye!” You said in quick succession before leaving and closing the door behind you.
Scaramouche stood still after you left, simply staring at the spot you were in moments prior.
Maybe, against all odds, that wasn't just a slip of the tongue. Perhaps, somewhere deep down, Scaramouche did truly care for you. Maybe he even loved you.
But that was a tough pill to swallow. Scaramouche didn't even know if he was capable of feeling love.
Although, if it was with you, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Even the Coldest Nights can't stop the Warmth of The Heart | Lyney x gn!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: reader who is set as traveller, has a commission set in Dragonspine, due to the odd nature of the request whilst in Fontaine, y/n asks Lyney to accompany them, where they experience a few new things. Just some fluff with slight Angst as requested! pairing: Lyney x reader warnings: N/A word count: 3010 a/n: It's the first proper time I've posted a fic here! I might upload it on my Ao3! Let me know if you guys enjoy this, and I may do more :) Anyway, this is my post for Genshin Impact Secret Santa for @meidnightrain! This is also the first time I wrote something for Lyney! Hope you enjoy it! Thank you @2023gisecretsanta for the opportunity! Merry Christmas Everyone! Happy 2024 as well!
Tumblr media
"Aah… Achoo!"
Lyney slowly rubbed at his nose with his sleeve, he rarely had been out in such cold weather, but that didn't stop him from helping his 'friend'.
"Phew… I've heard some say that when you sneeze, it means that someone's thinking about you." He smoothly said as he pushed himself up to match the pace of his companion who was trudging their way through the harsh mountainous terrain with great ease which impressed him, he ruled that it must not have been their first time here. The magician smiled as he finally caught their gaze, twirling his top hat between his index and middle finger as he continued speaking, the hat soon landing on y/n's head as he placed it on.
"Is it Lynette?" He hummed, tapping his finger against his chin, despite gazing into the distance, his violet gaze was focused on Y/N, his smile soon turning into a flirtatious grin. "I wonder? Or… is it you?" He chuckled as Y/N panicked, almost losing their footing on the snow-covered ground, yet Lyney was a step quicker as he managed to grab onto Y/N's arm with ease as he laughed softly. The sound of his laugh was practically music to Y/N's ears as they felt their cheeks heat up, but it could've also been the harsh weather…
"Thanks…" Y/N softly said as they adjusted their balance on the ground, "Sometimes the ground is quite unstable on these mountains… I remember when the ground nearly fell under me when I was travelling up here with Albedo…" They admitted with a heavy sigh and a slouch, their H/C blowing in the icy winds.
Lyney gave a small chuckle at the thought of it happening, though a part of him did wonder who was this 'Albedo', he never classed himself as a possessive individual… but he saw Y/N to be just as important to him as Lynette was… being in the House of the Hearth meant he had to keep the ones closest to him safe and out of any trouble, as well as making sure they wouldn't leave him behind. "Really now, luckily for you, my dearest Y/N, I have been trying out this new trick as of recently, maybe you might be the perfect assistant in this if you were ever to fall~" He winked, and poked out his tongue to them.
"A new trick? about falling?" They asked softly, holding Lyney's top hat onto their head so it wouldn't blow off in the wind, it also provided some head protection from the snow. Y/N couldn't dare look Lyney in the eyes right now, especially paired with that playful grin of his, it made their chest fill with warmth and their heart race, Y/N swore they could almost keep warm from just his smiles and words alone.
"Of course! What magician would I be if I let my beloved fall into the icy depths of… What was it, Dragonspine?" He asked with the same flirtatious smile, watching Y/N nod at the unique name he continued, "What a unique name, may I ask how it acquired such a name?" He asked, his gaze glistening with curiosity as Y/N continued to push through the cold winds. "It's quite a story… a great dragon was defeated here and their corruption that lingered in their blood poisoned the land…" Y/N explained, their footsteps falling to a stop as they extended their hand out over the large cliff face to the large spines sticking out of the ground, "I was surprised to learn that those are its ribs and then you know if you follow them along, it makes the rest of the dragon's body."
"I see, my that sure is a fascinating tal-" He felt another sneeze consume him, cutting off his words as he sneezed once more, maybe he should have taken Father's stories into account whenever she headed to Snezhnaya… a thicker cloak would've been much more protective against the cold wind and atmosphere compared to the fur-lined cloak he opted to bring when Y/N had asked him to come along… Lynette would've lectured him for this as well, however, she and Freminet were both accompanying father with a request… and how could he say no to Y/N's humble request when they have come all the way to just find him, paired with their adorable pleading face…
"My apologies, as I was trying to say," He wiped his nose once more, "A truly fascinating tale, if only I could summon a dragon out of my hat, that surely would be a unique show in Fontaine! I am sure the audience would've been blown away with such a creature!" He gave a hearty chuckle as he explained the scene in his mind. The whole idea also made Y/N giggle, finding his idea almost ridiculous, there was no way that any space he held his shows would be able to hold a large dragon, maybe in the Opera Epiclese… but even that would be quite the stretch. Or maybe he could summon Neuvillette from his hat, he was considered a dragon… though Y/N was sure that the Chief Justice wouldn't exactly appreciate being pulled out from a hat.
Y/N glanced over at Lyney as he sneezed yet again, no doubtly chilled to the bone from the weather, Fontaine never had such weather like this… Y/N slowly removed their thick cloak and placed it around Lyney's shoulders, making the magician perk up, "Ah, dearest Y/N I am fine! You should keep this for yourself! I wouldn't want you to freeze out here." He mumbled, a slight blush on his cheeks as he for once, refused to look into the traveller's glistening E/C eyes.
"I have been up here a few times now, I am practically used to it."
"Still… it is quite dangerous."
"Call it a trade for your magician hat!" They smiled with a giggle, "Come on, there is a small cave nearby, we can try to make a fire and keep warm before treading up further to fetch those beacons, who even decides putting these up here is a good idea…" They whined, as Y/N planted their heels of their boots into the snow, and quickly hiked up the remaining snow-covered steps to locate the cave.
Lyney blinked for a few seconds, his mind trying to process the whole ordeal, or maybe he was just entranced by Y/n's beautiful smile… it was simply dazzling… it made them glow brighter than any star that danced in the night sky. He placed a hand to his chest for a moment, his eyes held such a display of emotions, affection, awe amongst many more… He truly was a magician who had fallen under a spell of something truly magical. He quickly eased his breathing and closed his mouth which was slightly agape the whole time, finally concluding his feelings. He quickly pushed himself up the stairs to catch up, clutching the cloak Y/N had wrapped around him closely as he finally made it up the stairs.
"What took you so long, Lyney…"
"My apologies, I was just… reminiscing. Father often spoke of Snezhnaya being cold like this… Now I can't get over just how cold it must be down there." He smiled despite lying in the situation, "Father always mentioned wearing thick layers of clothing when going down there, I should've followed his words to a T." He chuckled as a particularly cold gust of wind blew through his ash blond strands, making his hair a slight mess.
Y/N laughed at his appearance, snow stuck in some parts of his hair that was now messed up from the wind, and his face scrunched up due to the cold, he was adorable to look at, almost like a cat.
"Don't laugh at me… that was not a funny trick of the wind!" He exclaimed playfully as he too started laughing as he shook his head to get rid of the snow in his hair, not before gathering a small chunk and flicking at Y/N with an innocent smile, "My, looks like the snow got you too." He winked as he continued to laugh, making Y/N gasp as they wiped off the snow that lingered on their cheek.
Tumblr media
The pair sat around the makeshift fire they had managed to build together in a small cave, it offered them protection from the cold winds and also warmed up their bodies. "It has been a while since I got time to myself like this. Enjoying the thrills of adventure and just bonding with friends in a whole new place. I see why Father didn't mind when I had asked." Lyney hummed, leaning back onto his arms that were placed behind him as he enjoyed the warm embrace of the fire, as his gaze lingered outside of the cave.
Y/N calmly gazed at him, it was almost like he seemed a little troubled as he spoke, as if he wanted to say something else, but he didn't want to say it. His purple eyes soon locked onto Y/N's as he tilted his head, "Something the matter traveller? Ah, would you like to see a trick?" He hummed with another smile as he closed his eyes. Y/N shook their head as they continued to look at Lyney, "You seem like the one who is troubled… You can tell me you know." Y/N mumbled silently, their soft voice laced with concern that made Lyney give them a true smile of his own.
He chuckled softly, "Ah traveller, only you can seem to read the true me huh? No matter how I try to hide, you are truly… something special." He spoke honestly, his head drooping slightly as his gaze returned outside once more, fingers gently brushing over the small stick of food that he held over the fire. "I am not too sure honestly, maybe I am worried about Lynette, or it could be that… I am just conflicted with emotions. I never particularly ever speak about myself let alone about… personal stuff. Hard to say." He spoke, Y/N could tell he still had some hesitation in his words, but for once he seemed genuine. "Well, you're always with Lynette, and being so far away from Fontaine… I can understand." Y/N commented, looking down at their skewer, yes, they too knew the burden of being so far away from their twin sibling all too well, though they had no real clue where their sibling was.
Lyney turned to Y/N once more, hearing the heavyweight in their tone, he was met with a small look of disappointment and sadness lingering in their eyes. He couldn't help but feel bad, he was lucky that he knew where Lynette was and that she was okay… Y/N however, had no idea where their sibling was. The Magician slowly moved closer to Y/N, shuffling close enough to the point their arms were touching. "I am sorry Y/n, I didn't mean to remind you of your own sibling… I at least can rest at ease that both Father and Freminet are with Lynette…" He slowly trailed off as he continued to gaze at Y/N with great concern, unsure whether to continue speaking or not. He was a magician, after all, he used his tricks and verbal magic to get closer to people… Yet, he struggled with trying to comfort others who seemed to be suffering.
His thoughts were cut off when he felt Y/N rest their head against his shoulder, their arms slowly wrapping around his own as they continued to look outside as he had previously. "It's okay… it wasn't your fault, Lyney… I just…" they slowly trailed off as they hugged his arm more firmly, pressing their cheek against his warm shoulder, "I just wish, I knew where they were… the last time I saw them, it was…a mess…" Y/N's voice fell to a low whisper as they talked about their brother, Lyney could hear their longingness to find their brother, all the hurt and suffering Y/N must have gone through, for their sibling to fall right through their fingers.
He slowly rested his head against Y/N's own, slowly nuzzling his cheek against their soft H/C coloured hair, "I am sorry to hear that…" He whispered against Y/N's hair, "I am sure… as twins, they too would want to know you're alright too… I am sure of it… Just like how Lynette would be concerned about me too, but… I am sure she knows I will be fine if I am with you." He whispered affectionately as he tried his hand at comforting Y/N, soon placing a lingering kiss on the top of their head.
Y/N smiled softly as they slowly snuggled closer to the magician as he spoke words as soft as clouds appeared, he had a charm with his words yet they felt truly genuine when he talked to them. Y/N felt Lyney move his arm out of their grasp, before wrapping it delicately around their shoulders and pulling them closer to his frame, allowing Y/N to rest their head against his chest. "You think so?" they asked softly as they nuzzled closely to him, enjoying the lingering warmth that came off of him.
"Of course, you know I could never lie when I gaze into your mesmerising eyes, Y/N, even if I tried." He chuckled softly, as he lifted his head of their own to give them a toothy smile. Y/N playfully rolled their eyes at his little attempts of trying to be smooth, "I can't with your lines, I am trying to have a serious moment here!" they chuckled before nudging Lyney in the ribs.
"Oh come now, my beloved. You know it is not my fault that you know how to truly cast a magical spell over this magician." He continued to smile as he nudged Y/N back, and both soon laughed together. "Say… Y/N, how about a small trick?" He asked fondly, gently moving himself to be in front of their gaze, yet he remained close enough for Y/N to keep leaning their head against him. "As long as you don't summon a dragon from your hat…" Y/N tried to force an annoyed tone, yet their voice crumbled into a playful laugh. Lyney shook his head, "If only! Feast your gaze amongst my hands." He said confidently as he moved his arm off Y/N whom they almost whined at. He quickly withdrew a set of cards from his vest, before effortlessly shuffling them between his hands with a hum, "Keep your eyes on them, mon amour." Lyney then flicked the cards out in his hands, allowing Y/N to select a card.
Y/N slowly moved their head off of his chest to gaze at the cards, "Um… this one?" They pointed at one, to which Lyney picked it up to show it to the traveller, "Remember this card, or else something bad may happen." He winked as he shuffled it back into his hands. Nine of hearts… Nine of hearts… Y/N whispered in their head as they resumed to resting their head against Lyney's chest. "Mon amour, is this your card?" He asked with a playful smirk, Y/N blinked as they gazed at the card he held up, "No…" they replied, as he held up a completely different card, "Mhmn, keep watching." He quickly flicked the card around revealing the card of nine hearts behind the previous card. "Wha- How?" Y/N perked up as Lyney smiled brightly, "My dear, you know a magician never reveals his secrets, but… may this magician hold your attention a little longer?" He asked, yet there was a slight hesitation in his voice as he leaned a little closer.
"Of course," They whispered, the heaviness was gone and instead placed with awe and curiosity. He nodded as he smiled once more, he slowly put the rest of his card deck away and continued to hold the card you had chosen. He slowly ripped it in half, before leaning close to Y/N as they were watching the card in his hands, tenderly brushing his lips over their slightly reddened cheek. Before Y/N could fully process the brush of lips on their cheek, Lyney had pulled back and twirled the two pieces in his hands as he took off his hat and dropped the card pieces into it, giving it a shake and emptying the hat to reveal nothing inside. Before placing his hand into it once more and withdrawing a lovely red scarf from his hat, which he wrapped around Y/N's neck, making sure they were comfortable.
"Just a small gift from Lynette." He smirked a little, as Y/N was now flustered bright red from the kiss that seemed to still linger on their cheek. "You! You can't just do that!" They huffed, rubbing their hand on their cheek as Lyney simply laughed, "Come now, it's a treat to see your lovely blushed cheeks, you can't blame me for wanting to see it for myself." He purred, his smirk becoming a gentle smile.
"I hate you…" Y/N murmured as they hid their face into his cloak that he had wrapped around both of their shoulders to help keep them warm, yet they couldn't stop the smile that pulled at the corner of their lips, as Lyney returned to wrapping his arm around their shoulders once more.
"If that was from Lynette… then what do you plan to give me?"
"Ah, that would ruin the surprise, Mon Amour, for now, how about we enjoy the warmth of the fire." He hummed with a cheeky smile, gently tapping on Y/N's nose.
Even the Coldest Nights can't stop the Warmth of The Heart.

fir branches, tied with red cord.
hello everyone! this writing is a secret santa present for precious @lovely-rubeum, who's works are a must-read for Thoma fans.

Tumblr media
„ ♪ Last Christmas I gave you my heart, but you gave it away the very next day..“ New Year songs could've been heard everywhere. Layers of snowy crystals covered roofs and columns, fences and street lamps, making the light fuzzy. It's been six months since you left your homeland and went to university in another city. Yes, unlike your quiet little town with no kind of gaities and very few inhabitants who all knew each other, the city had much more to offer: wild parties every night, tons of cafes and restaurants, huge 20-floor shopping centers and different varieties of professional paths to follow. But your heart belonged to the calm peace of the town, soft sunbeams in the mornings, endless pinkish sky with plum-colored fluffy clouds — such dear memories were engraved in your soul. And, of course, your constant source of warmth whenever loneliness of an outsider hit you too hard was your childhood friendship with Thoma.
Thoma, who's hair reminded you of straws, who's green eyes shined brightly, who's genuine smile painted your cheeks with a prominent blush. Although you never communicated since he moved, reminiscence of your innocent tender bonds was still precious to you.
"Does he even remember me?" you wondered at times, looking up at the sky, gazing upon stars, so close yet so far, just like Thoma himself.
Tumblr media
You were 7, he was 9. He was a "big boy" with responsibilities much bigger than yours. His family wasn't very financially stable: the father went missing two years ago, the mother worked two jobs so she appeared at home just to sleep and to cook something for her son, who also worked hard everyday, mowing lawns and walking dogs in order to get some money.
Your family was totally opposite. Huge inheritance allowed your parents to live as they pleased, going on trips every year and spoiling their beloved daughter — you — with tons of clothes, toys and sweets. At times, when you acted capriciously, your mom scoldingly reminded you of poor Thoma.
"Honey, you shouldn't take everything for granted. You are living a very comfortable life, unlike some people who weren't born that lucky. Think of the neighbor’s boy! Only two years older yet already working. Behave and take an example"
You sobbed yet didn't start crying in rage like you always did. After all, mom was right. Sometimes, on snowy winter evenings, you could see Thoma from your balcony. He cleared snow with a shovel twice his size. You never saw him playing with other kids or doing silly things natural for his age. Actually, he didn't have friends at all due to being constantly busy.
Christmas arrived, and your parents showered you with gifts on this occasion. Wearing new boots, cute hat and a coat, you went out into the yard to build a snowman. You saw a glimpse similar to a dark spot on a pure white snow. It turned out to be Thoma, dressed in some rags — the boy carried heavy packages, which was visibly difficult for him.
"Lemme help ya," you volunteered out of nowhere, grabbing a package's strap.
"You sure? It's heavy..." he hesitantly mumbled.
"I'm billion percent sure. Let's be friends!" you blurted out, steam curling out of your mouth.
Thoma froze in place. It was the first time ever anyone suggested to befriend him. You two were breathing heavily, dragging bundle along the street in quietness. You started feeling worried due to him keeping silent, but suddenly cheery voice interrupted the hush:
"Sure, let's be friends! What's your name?" Thoma smiled widely, exposing teeth.
You introduced yourself, and that was the day your life has entirely changed.
Tumblr media
You were 11, he was 13. Even after enrolling into middle school and making friends with his peers Thoma still valued you the most. He picked you up after classes, treated to home-made meals, played games with you and helped when it came to studying. School wasn't easy for him. Working part-time and taking care of his mother in a hangover took all of his free time. Thoma expected you to dump him: after all, he was unable to go to cafes and amusement parks, buy you gifts and share candies. He couldn't endure your saddened face and pouty cheeks without heart ache whenever he told you he wouldn't have time to go play with you.
But what Thoma did not expect was you acting on the contrary.
"Oh, you are such a good boy!" your mother giggled, patting his head. You invited him to a sleepover in your house every week, and he finally gained an opportunity to shower in warm water, eat a proper dinner and not some semi-finished products thrown in one plate, sleep for full 8 hours..Your parents were incredibly kind and caring, considerate yet never intrusive. Here, in your place, Thoma felt loved, loved unconditionally. You two enjoyed your cocoa with marshmallow, cooked slightly crooked gingerbread and decorated the Christmas Tree all together.
“Who do you think you will be in the future, Thoma?” you asked one evening, when two of you were busy with baking a pie.
“Uh, wait, wait a second! One last thing… Here,” he spread out dough strips, “closing” the pie. “Who will I be in the future, you said? Ha-ha, to be honest.. I don’t really know. I hope I’ll work with kids or manage domestic stuff, cuz I enjoy doing it,” he chuckled, fixing his apron. “Hey, you are all in flour! Give me a second, I’ll wipe it off,” the boy reached out to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear and swiped the flour away. His touch sent shivers down your spine, as if you got hit with electricity.
“And who do you think you’ll be?” Thoma questioned.
“Hm… I want to become a teacher one day. Or a doctor,” «or your significant other», you added mentally.
“You are so hard-working, I’m sure you’ll succeed!” he smiled encouragely and patted you on the shoulder.
Tumblr media
You were 14, he was 16. From shy and ordinary guy Thoma became popular, quick-witted and got admired for his nice sunny personality. You, on the other hand, had grown up reserved and quiet. That, whatsoever, didn’t break your friendship.
“Hey, pumpkin, forgetting your lunch box becomes a habit!”
Of course you recognized this upbeat voice. Who else would’ve called you a pumpkin?
When you turned your gaze up to your desk, there was a cute box in sight and widely smiling blond.
“Aww, come on, Thoma, you didn’t have to!” you sighed dramatically, although internally you were screaming, feeling flattered from such solicitude.
“I have to, because I care about your health, silly,” he gently ruffled your hair, avoiding ruining your hairstyle. “Let’s have a meal before lunch break ends, okay? I’ll stay here with you, no worries, we won’t go to the cafeteria,” he added immediately after noticing barely evident hints of your anxiety.
“...thanks, Thoma. Let’s see what you’ve prepared for me,” with that, you opened the box.. and your heart started pulsing like you have run a marathon.
Absolutely adorable salad with different vegetables, cut in some cute shapes. The dedication and efforts, invested in this dish, were obvious. You nearly teared up. No one has ever did something like that for you.
“H-hey, is everything alright? You’ve turned pale…” Thoma asked in concerned tone.
“No, no, not at all! It’s just so sweet of you.. Thank you so much. I can’t make myself eat such masterpiece..”
“Hold on, kid! You need to eat, otherwise I might spoon feed you,” once in a while Thoma acted mischievously, and you couldn’t predict this behavior. He was never mean, of course, but teasing certainly had a place in moments like this.
“And how about feeding me from mouth to mouth, huh?” you teased him back with a sly grin.
Thoma reddened: the color of his face was similar to the color of his jacket.
“Ah-ha-ha… You are quite naughty, aren’t you?” you could feel the heat emanating from his body.
“And what if so?” you cheekily raised your eyebrow.
“I assume a kiss will be able to erase this smirk from your face,” the boy tried to get his composure back, but failed miserably, stumbling his words and awkwardly fidgeting.
“Try it, so we could discuss the truthfulness of your statement”
“Um… maybe next time, ha-ha…”
To Thoma’s luck, the bell rang, so he ran out of the classroom, leaving you alone and flustered.
“Don’t forget to eat, pumpkin!”
Since that day you two have never brought up this accident, even though having lunch with Thoma became a daily routine.
Tumblr media
You were 16, he was 18. He was embracing you tightly, despite the uncomfortable proximity under the boiling sun.
“I’ll miss you, pumpkin,” he mumbled, and you could tell he was being honest — every wrinkle, every muscle of his face depicted the dreary sorrow of parting. Even though his 12 years old Nokia phone still worked, you heavily doubted it would function properly. Yet you still hoped for the best.
“Thoma, dear.. Please, call or text me as soon as possible. It’s dull without you,” tears flowed on their own, and you couldn’t help it.
Suddenly you sensed some soft sensation against your skin. There was no need to look up to understand what was it. You closed your eyes and indulged in bubbly pleasure.
Thoma was your first best friend.
Thoma was your first Valentine, though you both considered it to be a friendly one.
Thoma was the first person apart of your family to cook for you.
Everything important in your life was about him.
And now, he granted you your first kiss.
“I love you,” his green eyes watered just like yours. “When I graduate, I’ll come back for you. Do you agree?”, you grabbed his calloused hands and squeezed them.
“Yes. Yes, of course”
Tumblr media
Two years have passed since then. There were no news from Thoma nor texts or calls. He simply disappeared from the world. Both of his parents rested in peace, and they didn’t have any relatives, so wondering about his fate was all you’ve got to do. Your messages never got delivered.
“Sorry, the number you dialed does not exist,” you heard this voice line so many times it annoyed you to no end. You cried out of frustration, you felt numbness and anger, and finally, you accepted the entire situation.
Maybe he dumped you.
Maybe something happened to him.
You won’t know until his studying finishes.
Graduating from high school, passing exams, enrolling into university — you went through everything all by yourself with support from your parents.
Sipping coffee and sinking in your unhappy thoughts, you didn’t pay attention to any of the cafe visitors — after all, it was way too far from yor home, there was no chance to meet your countryman.
With the bell tickle, which announced the emergence of new client, loud fast speech could have been heard:
“Yoimiya, I’m so sorry! I left my place on time, it’s just that traffic accident with a mongrel dog occured, I had to take poor animal to the vet-”
This voice.
You stared upon the guest in disbelief.
Blond hair. Red coat. Black bandana which looked like horns. Pitiful smile. Green eyes.
“Oh, dear God, Thoma! Is everything okay? Is the doggie alright?! Ugh, how could this be?..” fair-headed young lady came out of the stall and jumped forward the man.
“Wait,” he shook his head as if he was trying to get rid of weird delusions. But that was not a delusion.
“Is this…” his voice lowered to husky whisper, eyes widened in shock.
“...Thoma?” you stood up on shaking legs.
