Process and some discarded sketches I made when I was struggling below:

I still am unsure about his hair. I like the bun, but I also think this finalized design is working well. I definitely like this face better, I hated my previous attempts and then I just had a moment of clarity yesterday. I think I have to make his chin and ear scars more visible, and I decided against giving him earrings for now, but we'll see.
