Hiiiiask just wanted to tell you that i seriously adore your writing, you’re a HUGE inspiration for me and honestly I think your style is just so colourful and lush. it’s so easy to get pulled into the scenes you write — if you ever published a book I would buy it in a heartbeat, thank you for sharing ur wonderful story online!! <333 I also have a question, is there any writing (from books or other sources) that has really influenced your style of story telling? Any particular big inspirations that you found guidance from when you started out writing?
also! completely unrelated but your cricket design reminds me of Ripley from Alien :] (big compliment i love her)
Ahhh thankyou that's so kind! I'm so flattered Cricket reminds you of Ripley, I'd like to think they are a very similar kind of character (I'm a big Ripley fan too!!). Someone get Cricket a flamethrower, stat.

In truth I really like poetry and purple prose ahahah so I wrote the Sight into GITM as an excuse to get funky with descriptions. I read a loooot of poetry, old and new. To me the most important part of a book is the characters and their internal journeys, so all my fave books have a heavy focus on characters. Personally, I love Stephen King, I'd say his work has had the biggest impact on me of any writer. Every single one of his characters jumps off the page as a real person- they feel like someone you could have met and in his book On Writing he emphasises the importance of the tiny details of interactions you have in real life and using them in your writing. It's that small human stuff that makes people/situations relatable and my writing became 1000% better after I started doing that. I really love ensemble cast stories, I love the Stormlight Archive and how the characters inner journeys are reflected in the external stakes (they literally have to overcome mental blocks and unpack their trauma etc to unlock their powers). I was also very inspired by Ziracona's dbd fic In Living Memory and how they juggled their GIANT cast to give them all satisfying character arcs with nary a shit given about word count. For films, stuff like Jacob's Ladder, Requiem for a Dream, Pan's Labyrinth and stuff that blurs the line between perception/derealisation/coping mechanisms/delusion and reality have all been very influential on the way I wanna tackle certain stuff in GITM. I love dark fairytales, especially ones with an edge of madness to them. Cricket's Sight in GITM was also heavily inspired by the character Dennis Rafkin in Thirteen Ghosts!
