Shithead McGee jr that’s so fucking funny (can I use that later?), but I got a slightly different idea.

I want to reuse popular sbi tropes and turn them on their head. Basically, evil royal sbi au (excluding techno) where Dream is an enderdragon who they hold captive because he’s “evil” (dragons have reputations of being powerful, dangerous, and thereby a threat).

Dream isn’t constantly held in a cage because he’s got binding curses all over his body. I’m thinking that his magic is used by the empire for like, imperialism.

Techno is an immortal warrior who split ways from Phil after disagreeing on how to better the world. He actually met and was friendly with Dream several decades ago (dragons live a long time).

Techno only came back to the empire as a representative to a Nether-Overworld mix commune to negotiate terms of neutrality. He knows that Phil doesn’t want to fight him and has a soft spot for him even after everything.

At the castle is when he sees Dream again.

But this is a totally unserious au, just look at the premise. Wacky hijinks and melodrama is completely on the table. This au is purely For The Bit. Just like Techno
