i want to write a fae/curse au sooooo bad but then /i/ have to think of the clever riddles fae!pete is going to say so i'm fucked.

but basically the premise is seelie prince!pete confessing his love to unseelie!patrick over the years but patrick thinks they're curses so he breaks those curses without ever examining what they mean because he thinks seelie princes are all lovetalking sly tricksters (which they are) and he doesn't want anything to do with that even though he likes pete soooo much and he doesn't think pete will ever like exiled unseelie changeling faux-princes like him even though pete is screaming crying throwing up sending "cursed" love letters every year.

also further backstory they were supposed to be engaged when they were young, before patrick was exiled and his court was dissolved, because there was a war and they were tentatively forming marriage alliances. but all patrick remembers from that is cruelty from his unseelie family and pete refusing the marriage alliance which he takes as a full rejection. but pete refused the marriage alliance bc he knew if they got engaged patrick will never be freed from his faux unseelie family (patrick's a changeling, he's technically the heir to his court but he's being controlled by these other two lord & lady who is cruel to him and) and he knew the unseelie court would try to trick them anyways but he's kinda been in love with patrick forever.
