Is this a GNG reference from Toei?!

I remember when I watched this episode of Saint Seiya (episode 79 if I remember correctly), I was like: "WOW! This reminds me so much of GNG!" which wasn't very surprising because this series came from Toei only month after GNG ended so of course this series have so much similarities but that thing which surprised me a most was that they really made similar scene where wolves fight with bear who killed Fenrir's parents and gave scars for the gray wolf which is called "Ging" and that's very clear reference to GNG! What do you think?
