We're doing theories now? I want in. Ok, so my theory for why Mychael hates his species so much is due to his survival instincts. In the AU where Mychael doesn't have his mind control powers, he's cold and hostile. He is kind to humans in his original universe because he can afford to be with his powers. I don't imagine that his mind control extends to his species as well. Mychael is a pacifist and can peacefully force humans and animals alike to no longer be threats to him, but it isn't so simple with his kind. Whatever happened, he's certainly had a bad experience with them.

Theory two! That mushroom circle is definitely related to Mychael. Whether those mushrooms are the same species or a subset of the species is yet to be known, but they are related somehow! (I like to imagine the mushroom circles are how the species incubates before popping out of the ground like a cabbage patch kid.) The pure hatred and vitriol Mychael has for them is similar to when he was staring at his reflection. Plus, the way Mychael said that they weren't real mushrooms and almost spoke as though they were a person when MC asked what their name was very interesting.
