Humans and Gnoufs.

Oké let's talk about the elephant in the room when it comes to humans in the Gnoufs. Dispite bieng on screen only in rare situation, humans play a huge roll in the show. Afther all the Gnoufs are aliën's who come to our planet so of course we would play a big part in their everyday live right? I wanted to explore that more in depth here.

So when do humans apear? Mostly their is just small mentions in almost every episode, but we have a view episodes where humans take center stage.

- It's a dog life

- The visitor

- Humans are odd

So let's first talk about these three episode's shall we?

So it's a dog live feature's Micheal who is Gurty's owner. Gurty bieng a small dog that goes to the Gnoufs offent and is good friends with them.

One day Hippel and Gurty switch body's and Hippel is forced to run off to Micheal. Most of the Episode is just HippelGnouf terrified bieng so close to the human. The Gnoufs really fear humans so you can imagian how HippelGnouf is feeling in this situation.

Back to Micheal he spends most of the episode really confussed why his happy hyper little dog doesn't even comes close to him today. With now having a dark blue nose he thinks she doesn't feel well. The whole episode he never puts together that HippelGnouf is in Gurty's body.

Micheal just tries to make his dog feel beter by playing her favorite games, making her favorite food, and bieng overall really nice and concerned about her. This interaction does make HippelGnouf's fear for the human melt away. And he realizes that Micheal cares deeply about Gurty.

Later in the episode when he is back with the other Gnoufs he is just telling his friends what his day was like. Until GrooGnouf asked what the human was like, and HippelGnouf stating that Micheal likes to trow fetch allot but dispite that he finds Micheal really nice and that he loves his dog allot. So Gigabab adds "really so not all humans are mean to animal's" (Gigabab had seen in a previous episode that human's can be really bad towards animals.) But HippelGnouf states that some are really nice. So the Gnoufs come to the conclusion that for the view bad humans there are there are allot nice ones too.

Now to the visitor.

The Gnoufs are playing a board game when they are suddenly interrupted by a ringing phone. The Gnoufs not knowing they had a phone track it down and Groognouf picks it up. But their is a caller at the other side of the line. immediately regreting this desicion GrooGnouf tries to talk himself out of the situation.

With the help of RabGnouf he does but the Gnoufs are now worried that a human now knows their is someone living at their location. So they see what they can do about it and come up with a plan. One night their biggest nightmare comes true and the caller from the phone comes over and get's to the loft.

The Gnoufs have been planning this for a while, and bieng able to get into objects and making them move, they pretend that the house is haunted to scare the human of when they finally do they realized what he came to do. He was a tax collecter and with The Gnoufs making use of the telly the computer and other deffices had to pay bill.

They just leave it with that and the Gnoufs not worried about the human returning go about their day. Believing that this man is a sort Robin Hood trying to get money from them thinking he is not that bad of a guy afther all.

The last maijor episode Humans are odd.

This episode start with the Gnoufs watching telly and watching the news bieng fed up with humans they wonder where they come from. The Big Book swings open and say's that if they really want to know he tells them.

The whole episode is just the big book telling the Gnoufs aboute human origin's from when they where caveman to the time of the farao's to the middle ages. With the Gnoufs as puppets in his story protaying humans. he touches upon how humans lived, their believes, their morall's.

The story goes on for so long that the Gnoufs fall asleep. The last part bieng that all they do is fight. Most of the Gnoufs getting the message that humans are plotting sneaky creatures. GrooGnouf immediately jumps to their defence and says that bieng a human is no piknick and that we have our own fears and worrys and that there are humas who do try to save the Earth and animal's. Its also a nice bonus that humans created pancakes, telly, and stink bombs of course. This conclusion makes the other Gnoufs having second tought's and they too see humans in a different light now.

Oké now the minor apperences that influence the story of the episode a big deal.

In the episode elephant fight we meet Venus an elephant that works in a circus and the Gnoufs whant to free her from her tamer.

Than we have the episode the phantom fox. (their is so much I wanna talk about in this episode but for now...)

This episode is about a male fox who got shot and killed by a group of hunters and going with the story where a ghost can't go to the after live when it has unfinished bisness until they have done their task. For the fox it's that the hunters know where his family's den is and knowing that the hunters are comming to kill the rest of his family the fox want's the Gnoufs help to gets his family relocated to a place where they will be save.

In the episode unfurgotten we follow Gigabab who accidentally gets his hands on a piece of fur. He is shocked when he learns it's from an real animal but he doesn't fully understand the situation of what has really happend to it. So he goes and spend the episode looking for the animal that "lost" it's fur. The other Gnoufs understand what happend to the animal, but don't have the heart to tell Gigabab that the animal that he is looking for is long death. They keep this lie up until they can't go on with it any longer and have to tell him. When they finally do get it over their hearts to tell Giga the truth he is so distraugth by the idea and is unwilling to believe it. Only when Gigabab almost runs into a beartrap he realizes that humans do have a dark side and don't have trouble killing animalis letting him incerdebly down...

Than we have the episode squatters where humans are taking down tree's in a near by wood. The animals are moving in with the Gnoufs who have no where else to go. The Gnoufs fix this by replanting the tree's making the humans so freaked out that the trees placed themselves back that they stay away from the woods.

There some minor mentions but they don't influence the story that much.

Oké but how do our charather's react to humans?

Lets start with GrooGnouf even tough he doesn't go looking for humans. He is the one most intrested in humans and even trying to make excuses for their action's. That doesn't mean that he doesn't get worried our angry in one episode he loses his body and shows real distress when Minibab mentions about a human finding it and taking it away. He also get really mad when he see's humans taking down trees. But overall he is the one that looks the most oké with humans.

Than we have RabGnouf who is the one that seems the most done with humans. Taking jabs at them when he saw that Venus was looked up. But did also seem to like them beter learning that human's where responceble for creating stink bombs.

Gigabab use to have a very naive point of view on humans. Not believing that they where capable of creualty torwards animals. Afther learning this however he seems to be on the same level as Rabgnouf. When HippelGnouf told him about his day with Micheal he was relieved to hear that humans can be nice to animals.

HippelGnouf out of all the others is the only Gnouf who have spend time with a human and use to show a dislike towards humans. Even wanting to go as far as trying to make Gurty wild so she doesn't have to go back live with a human. but spending the day with that very human made him warm up towards him. Even swearing to the other Gnoufs that humans can be very nice. Some times he does go allong with the other Gnoufs voicing anger when humans do something bad

Out of all the Gnoufs that seems to fear humans the most is probably Minibab. All tough when he has to pick between a human and a spider, he is more scared of spiders... His biggest fear seems to be for him and his friends to be discoverd looked up and bieng experimented on. He voices this fear a view times in the show. He does has the hope that some day humans will trow their lives around and don't be awfull to animals anymore.

KreepyGnouf stands for the most part where his friends stand on their toughts on humans. Altough he gets really dark with it sometimes. Joking about hotdogs when his friends are worried about Gurty bieng eaten. Or in the episode the visitor when he tells the other Gnoufs that the human they expect might come over and kill them all. Wich almost has Minibab in tears...

And last but not least ScopiGnouf. His tought on humans unlike the other Gnoufs are a little unkown. But its safe to say that he stands where his friends stands when it comes to humans bieng creull to animals. He does shout "respect!" When he learns at the end of the episode humans are odd that humans do good things too.

Overall I like what they do with humans in this show as a human viewer myself, you are awear to treat animals and this planet more carefully. I also love how in this show we rarely get to see humans. They are either out of view our shrouded into a shadow wich makes them more mysterious to the Gnoufs.
