10. Giah
My call-out average: 8.5 (8)
Panel call-out average: 7.5
I wanted to place Giah higher in this ranking but I couldn’t really justify it based on her body of work. First of all, she just didn’t register as a model to me both in person and on film. The majority of her pictures were barely a step above blah; she looked blank or confused in several of her shots and there was usually something off or awkward with her poses. She may have deserved to linger a bit longer (especially over Kyle) since she showed incremental improvement with each passing week, but her progress was not happening at a fast enough rate. I will give her credit for her performance in the comeback video though, which was outstanding and worthy of a re-entry ticket into the competition on its own. I was fine with Tash being the comeback contestant, but if it were truly based on that particular week only then Giah should’ve taken that spot. It really made me wish that she had lasted long enough to reach the Gypsy Sport video because she likely would’ve given all of the other girls a run for their money. I also wish that Giah was stronger since I found her to be one of the more likable contestants. Her upbeat spirit really made me want to root for her.

#1 – Giah
I was heartbroken when Giah wasn’t the comeback. No doubt Tash did well, but we’ve seen the twin storyline before, and it was clear Tash was never going to beat Cody, despite having shown she was a strong model before. Giah coming back would have just made sense. She was one of the sweetest girls on the cast who the judges seemed pained in eliminating and this was the moment that proved she had the potential as a model. Her performance too was the most deserving for me. That face…nothing else mattered aside from how incredible her face looked. The dance moves were fine; strong enough to not distract from what really mattered. Her bone structure has never looked stronger, with her cheekbones in particular virtually glowing. Every second Giah was on screen I was just blown away. It was one of the only true defining moments this week.

ANTM Cycle 23, Episode 15 - The Final Countdown
Well, I’m going to stick to my original prediction that India will be the winner with Tatiana as the runner-up, because they’ve had this random rivalry set up all season out of nowhere. It’s a definite possibility that CoryAnne might take the title, though, but I don’t think her edit points to it.
Now they’re shooting the actual Paper Magazine spread.
India’s “No one really noticed me in the beginning” speech is so obviously placing her as the winner.
I really hope this shoot isn’t as tacky as it looks on set...
Yellow is not CoryAnne’s color. Who put her in that dress?
Drew is conflicted about Tatiana.
They seem to like CoryAnne and India, but mostly India.
Now they’re throwing critiques at everyone.
Since when is CoryAnne a singer or a dancer?
Final runway is coming up, with the eliminated contestants coming back.
Courtney is a CoryAnne fan...never would have thought that, to be honest.
Binta saying “We all know you’ve got it” to India, basically saying that she could already tell the producers had been pushing for India since the beginning.
Why afros though?
The outfits look nice.
Final runway isn’t complete without Stacey McKenzie, so naturally she’s there too.
Tatiana isn’t walking as well as she usually does, which is weird.
Giah, Paige, and Binta were rocking that runway.
Tatiana cleaned up her walk for the actual runway, thank goodness. She’s probably the best walker of the final 3.
CoryAnne was alright on the runway.
India is doing pretty well with the first look.
Why the hell is Tinashe randomly there?
I was gonna skip her, but I love this song.
I just realized what CoryAnne constantly saying “superstar” reminds me of...that cult-classic movie Superstar. Lol.
It looks like Justine cleaned up her walk a lot since she was eliminated.
CoryAnne’s confidence is good, but her walk is a bit too bouncy for me.
That’s it for the eliminated girls? Aww, I wanted more Paige and Giah!
I’m disappointed with all of the girls’ choices for final panel outfits. They all have worn much more flattering things throughout the cycle.
Rita’s not feeling Tatiana’s photo, but the other judges are feeling her a lot.
Rita’s doesn’t like CoryAnne’s photo either, but the other judges like it. Law randomly brings up her weak portfolio.
Rita is the only one that likes India’s photo, lol. Just kidding, Drew like it too.
Lol, the judges already deliberated before the girls got in panel. Why do I feel like there wasn’t actually a deliberation?
CoryAnne is the first eliminated.
Wait, they need to deliberate again for the final 2? I’m confused.
Their runway critiques obviously leaned in favor of India.
Lol, Ashley said Tatiana deserves the win, then Rita sideyed her so hard and was like “No, India needs to win.”
Tyra’s back randomly. I’m not even excited about it, honestly.
They’re comparing Tatiana and India to Kylie and Kendall Jenner, lol.
It’s interesting that Rita is the judge pushing for a more high fashion winner, seeing as she’s the one that was hardcore pushing the business, brand, boss thing.
Drew does not like Tatiana. Lol. He is ripping on her so hard in this deliberation.
And the winner is...INDIA! No surprises there. The only thing I’m shocked about is that the person I guessed as the winner the first week actually wound up being the winner (along with the exact final 3 placements).
I miss India’s look pre-makeover honestly. Them showing her comp card made me remember how great she looked.

Giah: *to her face* OMG Courtney are you okay! Giah:  *confessional* She’s such a baby. I fell down the stairs two times already. Nobody helped me. She just loves attention.

1. Giah
Giah was the queen of this music video! She was given arguably the most difficult outfit to work with and still managed to thrive. She performed the choreography spotlessly in the first half, and her moves in the second half were amazing as well. However, the best parts of her take were definitely the close-up shots of her face. She looked ridiculously stunning, like a true working model gracing the set of the music video. I was fine with Tash’s comeback, but based on this week alone Giah really should’ve earned that spot.

#8 – Giah
This is another shot with not much wrong, but not a lot really that great either. Giah’s body positioning is relaxed, but the hand at the crotch is a little bit questionable. That would all be fine if the face was sensational, but again that is just fine. Her features look strong, but the expression is missing that intensity. Giah’s face is good, but I am still waiting for it to photograph as strong as it looks.

1. Avant-Grocery
Drew welcomes the model to a grocery store, the location for their next photoshoot. He explains that the shoot is inspired by a Chanel runway show.
Tumblr media
Ehh, I’d guess it has more to do with how under-budget it was for ANTM to rent a bodega for the day, but inspiration can come in many forms! Honestly, when I first saw the preview for the shoot, I thought the real source of inspiration was this meme:
Tumblr media
Somehow, half the models can’t even manage to hit this mark, though.
Speaking of inspiration, the designer responsible for the day’s outfits is Nicola Formichetti, the man behind Lady Gaga’s outrageous looks. To determine which model will wear which dress, he meets with them one-on-one to discover their essence.
Nicola repeats a phrase we hear a lot this episode, and countless times in Top Model past: “Wear the dress, don’t let the dress wear you.” It’s a meaningless cliché at this point, but the intent is obviously to indicate that the models shouldn’t let the dress overpower them. That’s a lot easier said than done in avant-garde dresses that are designed explicitly to steal all the attention.
When Nicola meets with Giah, he wants to transform her into a bombshell. Possibly literally.
Tumblr media
Actually, she’s assigned something equally as explosive: balloons. We can’t even tell that she’s got balloons under her tutu until later, though, which made this quote especially outrageous:
Tumblr media
Is Giah smuggling cocaine in her anus?! The winner of ANTM 23 truly has to be it all: a supermodel, a brand, a business, a boss, and a drug mule.
Because the balloons aren’t visible unless Giah is literally tipped over for an upskirt shot (classy!) Drew has her lay down on the meat section and he finds the results surprisingly unsatisfying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, well no duh it looks like shit! This whole thing is shit! She can barely move around either or her dress pops!
The judges are more receptive to Paige’s shot in the same location, calling it:
Tumblr media
That doesn’t even make sense, although I suppose the steak has a longer shelf life than Britney’s first marriage. For my money, Paige looks about as dead as the meat products she’s reclining on.
Tumblr media
India is criticized for looking “short.” When they dress you to look like a blob, it’s important to look like an elongated blob!
Drew chews out Kyle a good deal for not reflecting the environment she’s in. Apparently, he wants her to be ecstatic to wear deadly shoes in a grocery store. “Pretend you’re at the store opening!” he instructs her. Kyle smiles but the reaction is not good enough. Drew stresses the excitement of being at a store opening, but who the hell gets even a tiny bit excited at a grocery store opening?
Tumblr media
If this is really how Drew reacts to a store opening, Whole Foods should hire him quick!
Nicola gets one look at Krislian and decides she’s too sexy. (An exasperated Krislian finally wonders aloud, “Is it because I’m Latina?” Sadly, probably!) Telling her that “oversexed becomes cheesy” and tries to play against her image by putting her in over-the-top funeral garb.
Tumblr media
The editors try to make Krislian look incompetent during her shoot, but of course her veil is going to get stuck on her crown if they make her throw it over head. They actually show this exact clip twice to make it seem like it keeps happening, too. Drew thinks she’s not doing right by this “million dollar dress.”
Tumblr media
You know how we know these aren’t really million dollar dresses? No one seems to give a shit when Marissa drenches herself in milk.
Tumblr media
The judges adore Marissa’s photo, even though it’s pretty much an ass shot. They think she captured the right mood for the shoot and I can’t disagree because, again, it’s an ass shot.
All in all, though, I love how bizarre these photos are. That’s some vintage WTF ANTM right there, and the reason I continue to tune in.

#9: Giah Hardeman
And here we have probably the most personable contestant from the cycle. Giah had such a great personality for reality TV. She had such a positive outlook about nearly everything, and got along with pretty much everyone, but that didn’t make her boring. She lit up the TV screen and always made the audience want to follow her journey. For this reason, I’m surprised she wasn’t pushed further in the competition, because how far you make it in reality competition shows is rarely ever dependent on your actual performance, but more dependent on how well you fit the producers’ narrative for the season.
In regards to her performance, I think Giah actually did fairly well with what the competition was going for this cycle. She tended to photograph more like an actress or singer rather than a devoted model, so she definitely had that working against her in the cycle, but in the other aspects of the competition she was very strong. She did extremely well with the music video in the comeback, actually managing to bring a model energy to it rather than a singer or actress, and she had a clear brand that I think could appeal to the masses very well. For that reason I think she should have made it a week or two further than she did.
Post-ANTM, I’m not entirely sure what Giah is up to. I assume she’s still pursuing modeling, and is also most likely pursuing acting as well. I wish her the best of luck in whatever she chooses to do, because I think that she’ll be great at whatever it is she wants to pursue.
